A Little Jealousy
Tumblr media
Request: I HAVE SO MANY REQUESTSSSSSS T_T But I don't wanna be greedy or anything so . . . Please pick one of the following for MX! 4, 7, 9, 11, 15, 16, 19, 20. I literally could not pick one! I am okay with ANY of these, but I'm really curious to see them. I asked for Kihyun last time, so any other member this time please! <3 Maybe Minhyuk, because my heart misses him so T-T
Prompt:
7) "I'm not jealous!"
16) You and your bias kiss to prove you don't have feelings for each other.
Pairing: Monsta X Minhyuk x Reader
Genre: Fluff
.
A low whistle greeted you as you walked into the living area.
"You look hot," Changkyun growled from his spot by the window. He was laying on the floor, shirtless, sunning himself like a lizard.
"You look hot," you laughed in return. "Like temperature wise. Why are you laying in the sun?"
"Hot water's out," he muttered. "I became a Changkyun-sicle trying to wash up."
You shook your head before plopping on the couch. "Where's Min?"
"Likely incurring the wrath of winter," he grumbled. As you continued to stare at him, he motioned toward the hallway. "It was his turn to shower."
That explained the high-pitched scream you heard while you were getting dressed.
As if being summoned by his name alone, you heard a door down the hall creak open, and footsteps pad out. Stumbling into the room with you, Minhyuk scrubbed a towel over his still damp hair. You tried to keep your eyes focused on his face, but it was difficult when all he was wearing was a pair of pajama pants slung low across his hips.
"Y/N," he hiccupped in surprise, immediately dropping his towel to cover his torso. The tips of his ears were turning redder by the minute. "I thought you had left."
"Nope," you croaked, trying to clear the sight of Minhyuk's body from your mind. "My Lyft driver is stuck in traffic."
"Right," he nodded, sidestepping toward the other side of the room. Reaching into the coat closet, he pulled out a hoodie and yanked it over his head. "I was too busy being naked to mention it, but you look gorgeous."
"Thank you," you said, unable to maintain eye contact. Minhyuk was always the first to dish out a compliment (or his opinion in general). His words had an easy way of causing you to blush, whether he was poking fun or genuinely gassing you up.
"Where are you going looking like that?" he asked, dropping onto the couch beside you.
"I have a date," you said quietly, still refusing to look up. It had been a long time since you had actually been out with someone, let alone someone you were hopeful about. "Changkyun introduced me to-"
"Who?" Minhyuk cut in before you could finish.
"Hyungwon," Changkyun hummed dismissively. "Boy has no game."
"Hyungwon!" Minhyuk gasped.
You turned to look at him, furrowing your brow. Changkyun and Minhyuk circulated the same circles and had mostly the same friends. You had assumed that if Changkyun offered to set you up with someone, Minhyuk would approve as well. Not that you needed his approval...it just...would have been nice.
Your relationship with Minhyuk was something you could brag about. He was such a passionately good friend that even his quirks didn't ruffle your dynamic. He was loud, energetic, and a shock to the system for many, but those were the people that didn't get to see him in his quiet moments. He was so soft and sweet. It was hard to grapple with the intrinsic need to cuddle him and simply take care of him.
"That was the name I said, yes," Changkyun sighed, glancing up at his friend as well. "What's the problem?"
"W-well," Minhyuk struggled. His brain was working overtime. "He's not dateable! Like at all!"
"Name one reason."
"Okay," he hummed, thinking. Launching up from the couch, he exclaimed, "He smells bad!"
"Oh, come on," Changkyun laughed. "He does not smell bad."
"He does!" Minhyuk insisted, beginning his pacing.
You were shocked that he was acting this way. Normally, both Changkyun and Minhyuk were supportive of almost all of your endeavors. Amazingly, that seemed to not include dating.
"Min," you laughed, shaking your head. Your eyes followed him as he walked back and forth. "Why are you acting like this?"
Changkyun sat up instantly, grinning mischievously. "I can tell you why."
Minhyuk paused his steps and shot a glare in the younger man's direction. "I just want what's best for you, Y/N!"
"Oooor," Changkyun purred. "He's jealous."
Changkyun's words landed like a slap. You were stunned by the possibility he presented. There was no way that Minhyuk could be jealous of you seeing someone else. That just wasn't like him.
Or you assumed it wasn't. Thinking back, you hadn't been in a serious relationship since your friendship had started. He was very protective of your time together and... well, protective of your attention in general.
"I'm not jealous!" Minhyuk groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "What reason would I have to be jealous?"
"Maybe, and try to follow me here," Changkyun smiled. "You like Y/N."
Your mouth popped open in surprise as Minhyuk looked around the room, panicked.
"I love Y/N," Minhyuk nodded, avoiding eye contact. "We all do."
"Noooo," Changkyun chimed. "We do love Y/N, but you loooove Y/N."
"For fuck's sake," Minhyuk muttered, covering his eyes. "Stop trying to stir the pot! There is nothing to be stirred!"
"Oh contraire," Changkyun chuckled, living for this moment. "I think your reaction is proving that there is plenty to be stirred."
You looked from Minhyuk to Changkyun and back again. Mouth suddenly dry, you tried to find words to add to the conversation. "Is...is that true, Min?"
Minhyuk didn't bother uncovering his eyes as he groaned. "Of course not, don't be ridiculous."
Part of you wilted at his statement. You had never really thought of Minhyuk in that way, but now that it was presented, you couldn't say it wasn't appealing.
Changkyun watched you carefully before turning back to the older man. "Prove it."
"I'm sorry," Minhyuk sighed, dropping his hands. "Prove what?"
"Prove that you don't have feelings for Y/N," Changkyun insisted.
"And how exactly do you expect me to do that?" Minhyuk grumbled, eying you with a pout.
"Kiss," Changkyun prodded. "Kiss Y/N and prove that you two don't have feelings for each other."
"That's stupid," Minhyuk scoffed. "Y/N doesn't want to-"
"I'll do it," you chirped, heat immediately radiating across your neck.
"See, they don't want to-" Minhyuk halted, having realized what you said. "You'll do it?"
"Sure," you continued, uncertain of what had gotten into you. "We'll just kiss and that'll be that."
"Right," Minhyuk said carefully. "That will be that."
"What's a kiss between friends?" Changkyun mocked. Waving his hands through the air, he motioned for you to stand.
Moving unsteadily to your feet, you crossed the room to stand in front of Minhyuk. Bared before him, you suddenly felt ripped open. The realization that you hoped he had feelings for you was dizzying. You were willing to let him in. He could have you if he wanted.
But did he?
Rolling his eyes, Minhyuk finally directed his attention to you. "This is silly."
"So silly," you said dumbly, glancing up at him through your lashes. You couldn't help but notice that his breathing had turned shallow.
"We don't have to do this," he whispered, his brows drawn together. "If you don't feel comfortable-"
"I want to," you interrupted. "Gotta prove your innocence, right?"
"I have nothing to prove to him," Minhyuk grumbled, glaring above your shoulder at what you could only suspect was Changkyun and his shit-eating grin.
"Then prove it to me," you said quietly.
Minhyuk's gaze latched onto you again. Sucking on his bottom lip, his eyes tunneled deep into yours, trying to reconcile his next move. You lifted your brows, waiting in silence.
After a few more seconds, Minhyuk's hands crept slowly up your arms. Sliding over your shoulders, they came to rest on either side of your neck, his pointer and thumb splayed across your jaw. Giving him a short nod of reassurance, you watched as he drew closer, and placed his mouth lightly on yours.
There weren't fireworks, but this kiss wasn't meant for that. It was meant to be questioning. It was meant to be soft and shy.
Taking a deep inhale through his nose, he pulled away again to exhale. Keeping his eyes closed, he set his forehead against yours. "Every butterfly that has ever existed are now all in my stomach."
You let out a breathy chuckle before pulling away from him. Opening his eyes, he looked at you questioningly. His fingers remained wrapped around your neck, not eager to let go.
"Min," you whispered. "Kiss me."
It took him a few moments to register your words before he began nodding to himself. Leaning in again, he pressed his lips more firmly against yours. Reaching up, you gripped his hoodie in your fists and pulled him even closer. You opened your mouth to the kiss, realizing you were both smiling as Minhyuk staggered against you.
There were the fireworks. For as bright of a person as Minhyuk was, it was unsurprising that his kiss made you see stars. Everything that had been unsaid over the duration of your friendship was being poured into his zealous affections.
Dropping one of his hands from your jaw, he wrapped an arm around your waist. You tilted your head back, attempting to get a better vantage for the kiss. Your lips seemed to melt together, tongues working in sync, with small giggles erupting from either of you at any moment.
Changkyun loudly cleared his throat, causing both of you to jump. Minhyuk dropped his face into your shoulder and let out a chuckle. "I completely forgot we weren't alone."
"You're about to be," Changkyun laughed, pulling himself to his feet. "I have to text Hyungwon so he's not ghosted."
You winced, turning to look at Changkyun. "I'm so sorry. I-"
"He'll live," Changkyun grinned. "This is much better. I love being right."

The Bangtan Gal Chapter 68- Under The Mistletoe
Tumblr media
Chapter Summary: BTS attend the MAMA Awards. Jimin and Taehyung aim to get Jennie and Jungkook to kiss under the mistletoe
Words: 8,000+
-----
In Hong Kong, BTS prepared for their performance during the dress rehearsal. They were to collaborate with GOT7, which Jen was thrilled about.
"Hey, Bam Bam, look it's your future girlfriend." Mark teased as they saw Jennie stretching from afar.
"Shush!" Bam Bam playfully shoved him away.
"And you're drooling~," Jackson exclaimed.
After she finished stretching, she spotted the members of GOT7 and waved. Just before Bam Bam was about to approach her, he stopped when he saw Jungkook.
"Babygirl."
"Yes?" she turned around, greeted by Jungkook.
"Hobi Hyung wants to go over the choreography with you to make sure you got it. You know that one part."
"All right."
After the dress rehearsal, Jennie had slipped through Bam Bam's eyes as he wanted to take time to talk to her, but like she always does, she wandered around backstage. She saw Monsta X and approached them with a smile.
"Finally get to meet you guys properly. Hi!" she bowed.
"Jennie Walker! Miss BTS! It's nice to finally meet you properly, too! I'm Jooheon. This is I.M, Hyungwon, Kihyun, Minhyuk, Wonho and Shownu."
"I'm trying not to fangirl but oh my gosh, you guys are friggin badass. I am so looking forward to your performance at the show. I can see you guys making it big, I can just feel it. And I'm proud to announce that I am a monbebe~!"
The members seemed pleased to hear that as they welcomed her with open arms.
"What's your favorite song?" Minhyuk asked.
"Gone Bad is my favorite!"
"Oh really? Can you sing it?" Shownu asked
Jen nodded and sang out Kihyun's part, "Geurae hal mankeum haebwa oneul haruneun. Eodikkaji galji hanbeon nareul jigyeobollae."
"Wow~. I love it." Kihyun applauded.
"Continue." Jooheon challenged
"Okay." she accepted and started feeling herself while rapping to Jooheon, "E eee eee, neon hukhago gayo. E eee eee, neon hukhago gayo."
Jooheon immediately smiled and nodded his head as he rapped with her, "E eee eee, neon hukhago gayo. E eee eee, neon hukhago gayo tto hanbange KO."
She went on while Hyungwon joined in for his verse, "Ppittureojillae. Ppittureojillae ho. Ppittureojillae. Monsta X yeah we rock the show. Ppittureojillae. Ppittureojillae ho. Ppittureojillae. Monsta X yeah we rock the show!"
"We might need to let her be the 8th member of Monsta X, now." Kihyun laughed.
"Ha! I don't think Bangtan will take too kindly to that." she giggled.
"I'm sure we can work something out." Wonho smiled, causing her face to warm up
'Lord Jesus, I was born the wrong year. He's smiling like that on purpose.' she thought.
Wonho was one fine looking guy. Everyone here was.
"So, we heard that Wonho is your bias." Minhyuk teased. "So, who is your bias wrecker? Me, right?"
"No way, it's me," Shownu added.
The members began joking around and trying to impress her with funny poses, making her laugh.
"She doesn't have a bias wrecker because her heart belongs to me, right Jennie?" Wonho wrapped an arm around her and got closer to her face.
"Oh mah God~." she started feeling shy at how close she was to him and covered her face as he chuckled. Once she pulled herself together, she joked, "I know I'm too young for you, but I fit your ideal type because I can make some bombass ramen."
After goofing around, she asked, "Are you fellas nervous for your first MAMA Awards?"
"Very. It's a big moment for us. Do you have any advice?" Shownu asked.
"Honestly I was freaking out during my first MAMA. It's such a big deal, y'know? Huge event. But just have fun with it. You're performing in front of thousands of people and various idols from different companies. Show them who Monsta X is and show them that you guys are here to stay and take over. You're going to do great. I'll be cheering you on."
"Thank you, we'll take that to heart." they bowed.
"I remember your performance from last year's MAMA. You performed with Block B's Taeil. You were really good up there. Great charisma." I.M spoke in English, causing Jen to smile and speak in her Native language
"Aw, really? Thank you. It's still one of my favorite performances I had on stage. You're fluent in English, right?"
"Yes, I am."
"I'm giving you a warning now since we're going to be great friends, you're stuck with me and we'll be having a lot of English conversations together."
I.M chuckled. "I'll mentally prepare. Can we take a picture for Twitter?"
"Yeah!"
Getting in the middle, Jennie posed gleefully as they considered her their new Monbebe. I.M posted the photo on Monsta X's Twitter, 'With Miss BTS herself! She's our new Monbebe! Thank you for supporting us!'
Wandering around again, Jen saw The8.
"Jennie!" he happily waved
"Hey! It's been a while!" she rushed up and pulled him for a hug, surprising him as he shyly hugged her back.
After they pulled away he smiled softly. "You look well!"
"I'm surviving. You look great, excited for Mama?"
"A little nervous but Seventeen is working very hard."
"I saw a snippet of your performance. You guys are great! Mansae is one of my favorite songs."
"Look forward to us performing."
"Trust me, I will."
Once the show began, BTS and GOT7 performed their collab dance. Afterward, GOT7 performed If You Do and soon after, BTS came out to perform Run. Jen wore leather pants and a white leather jacket with the words, 'Love Yourself' and wore that same white butterfly necklace in their starting position. She stood back to back with Jimin.
Run...Run...Run...
Starting off with V walking to the members, they shift. Rapmon starts off and they perform.
Tumblr media

Transitioning to the middle, Jen sang while her hair bounced every time she ran, "Dasi Run Run Run, neomeojyeodo gwaenchanha, tto Run Run Run jom dachyeodo gwaenchanha."
The camera panned to some idols who were watching the performance and it showed some IKON members smiling and lip syncing when Jen sang. One of them covered his mouth to tell one of his hyungs that she looked pretty but some fansites that were filming them caught them and thought it was cute.

Jen and Rapmon face each other.
Don't tell me bye bye!
(Run)
"You make me cry, cry!" she patted her hand over her heart
(Run)
"Love is a lie, lie!" they say in unison. "Don't tell me, don't tell me, don't tell me bye bye!" they push each other away
Once the chorus came again, Jen sang first this time as they danced.

The fan chants could be heard as they noticed various ARMY bombs in the crowd. Jen was having a blast on the stage and before she knew it, the song was about to end.

Tumblr media
"Love is a lie, lie!"

Don't tell me bye bye
Later on, the members watched the rest of the show. Jen had stared at Ailee in admiration when she had won best female vocal performance. She was just so beautiful and ARMY was eager to see her reaction to Ailee winning while the members teased her about it. Jen was the first to stand up and applaud when she won as well, with a proud smile on her face.
Jennie also was so proud of Hyuna when she won best dance solo performance. Her life was slayed watching Jessi and Hyuna perform. She enjoyed seeing women take the stage. Hopefully one day she will be able to do that. She saw it as inspiration that she could get there, too.
BTS had won the World Performer award, which was a proud moment for them. Jen hoped that they'd be able to win even more awards as they continued what they were doing. Ever since the Melon Awards, Jen's reactions and dancing to performances have become iconic for those that have fancams of her because they were so amusing to watch and tonight was no exception.
When CL had performed, Jen was mesmerized. The charisma, how the crowd can get behind her instantly, she hoped to be like that one day. Being able to move a crowd like that by herself. She was so hyped that the camera kept filming her while fans said, 'Same, Jennie, same'
Just like everyone else, no one expected 2NE1 to pop up as Jen freaked out, holding onto poor Jin.
"HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!"
Her reaction was bound to go viral as she also wiped a few tears when they performed Fire and I Am The Best.
And of course, once EXO had performed, she had to jam to them. She lipsynced all of Baekhyun's lines as her fansites filmed everything.
Tumblr media
"Eodun miro soge gacheotteon. Whoa na Oh, geu eodum sogeseo, nal kkaeweo jun ni moksori deullyeowa, nal dashi taeeonage hae~" she sang out, jamming around.
The members slowly turned to her and were amused. She truly loved Baehkyun. When the lights went out and Chanyeol began rapping fast, Jen got even more hyped as EXO performed a lightsaber dance break. Then, with Drop That, it became a huge party as she danced with Taehyung and Hobi who were near Suho and Chen.
Jump jump jump jump jump jump E.X.O
Jump jump jump jump we are E.X.O
While watching Baekhyun perform, she soon saw him walking towards where she and the rest of the idols were. Her butterflies came back and all those thoughts about keeping her composure were out the window.
She soon noticed him looking her way and began to walk over to her.
'He's coming over here!?' she thought, widening her eyes.
He extended out his hand and she immediately took it, getting pulled forward and they started jumping and dancing together.
"Ah, she is so freaking out right now!" Namjoon laughed.
"I know. I'm surprised she didn't faint." Jin giggled.
Chen and Suho did the same with GOT7 and the rest of Bangtan nearby.
This was a moment that she'll cherish for the rest of her life and the members knew how much this meant to her. Baekhyun smiled at her and made his way back to the stage to regroup with the members. She couldn't wipe that huge smile off her face. It was nothing like being able to get hyped with one of your favorite idols like this.
Chen had blown her away with his high note and she had to lean back and place a hand over her heart.
'MY GOD! How did he do that!?' she thought
And once they performed Love Me Right, Jennie was no more good as she swayed around while standing and clapping along. Her ears were almost ringing from the screams of fans for Big Bang. Their stages were always unique. All of YG artists were. The way they were so composed and had strong charisma. She hoped to get there one day. To that point as a performer.
During the dress rehearsal, she had told G-Dragon that she hoped that BTS could have a longer stage at MAMA, and he told her that they'd get there one day. So she'll continue to work hard and remain patient for their time to shine.
When the camera panned to Jennie with Taehyung bopping to the song, she looked directly at it and smiled, pointing, "Bang, bang, bang! Bang, bang, bang!"
Spotting Kiyhun and the rest of Monsta X, Jen and Taehyung began to dance with them too. During PSY's Daddy performance, fansites filmed her laughing and asking Hobi and Taehyung how the dance goes, following their moves.
Tumblr media
During Gangnam Style the camera caught her again, turning up and dancing around without a care in the world despite everyone watching her. She was dancing similar to how Taeyang was during Gangnam Style a few years ago. The members couldn't help but party with her. Jen feeling herself was such a mood and it made awards shows more enjoyable to watch because of her reactions.
Bam Bam had soon danced his way over to Jennie, tapping her over the shoulder. Once she turned, she danced with him as BamJen shippers were delighted. Jimin was not happy when watching them dance. He felt like his ship was getting ruined and didn't like how close he was to her.
Jungkook glanced up and saw them dancing, feeling some type of way as jealously crept up on him.
"Are you going to sit there or are you going to do something?" Taehyung asked in his ear over the loud music.
Jungkook soon thought about their conversation after the concert,
'Let everyone know that the person you want will be yours and no one is going to change that or interfere with your mission.'
Some idols were glancing at Jungkook, wondering what he was going to do. The gossip about Jungkook's feelings for his bandmate was going around fast. And it was also a known fact that Bam Bam had liked her for quite some time and was very vocal about it. The only thing stopping him right now was the dating ban.
Jungkook stood up and glanced at the 95 Liners who followed him. Dancing to the song, the three of them moved to where Jen was dancing. Jimin and Taehyung watched eagerly as Jungkook gently pulled her away from Bam Bam
"I'll take it from here," the Golden Maknae spoke.
Bam Bam and some members of GOT7 were disappointed that his moment was interrupted. But Jimin and Taehyung had low fived each other as they watched JenKook have a friendly and goofy dance battle, with Bangtan hyping them up. It certainly caught the camera's attention and made JenKook shippers happy.
Watching everyone perform tonight motivated Jen to do better and she had hoped that at next year's MAMA Awards, she would be able to blow everyone away with her charisma with Bangtan. Sometimes she felt like she wasn't doing enough. What can she do to stand out and get people talking about how much she has improved on stage? She will be practicing and working even harder to give a better performance for fans.
After the show, Jungkook went directly to Bam Bam. He wanted to have a long talk about everything.
"Can I speak with you, Bam Bam?" Jungkook asked.
Once Bam Bam agreed, they walked to a private area. "So, what's up, Jungkook?"
"It's about Jennie."
--------
"Thank you!" Jen pulled the table right inside her hotel room.
She was so hungry after the show, she had to order room service. She felt like she deserved a big meal after the pleasant time she had at the MAMA Awards.
Her face during 2NE1's reunion performance was sure to become a new meme as she already saw her face plastered all over Tumblr and Twitter. ARMY did not waste any time to capture her reaction. After eating, she prepared to shower, shutting the bathroom door behind her. Finally, she was able to shower. The whole night exhausted her. It was overall fun but with a big award show like this, it took a toll on her body. But nothing like a hot shower to ease her muscles. Connecting her phone to a portable speaker, she put her music on shuffle and walked into the shower.
Meanwhile, back in the room, a sasaeng had crawled out from under the room service table after hearing the shower turn on. They began to place hidden cameras all over the room and called their buddy who was also around the hotel.
"I'm in Jennie's room~! Our plan worked! I finally got in. The video is clear, right? Good." the sasaeng giggled and found her suitcase.
Opening it, they started to examine her personal belongings. They began to take some of her underwear and even took photos of her bra size. After having too much fun with her belongings, the suitcase fell to the floor and made a loud noise.
With Jennie, her stomach dropped, and she stopped everything that she was doing as soon. Hobi was not in the room yet because he was with friends so he couldn't be back yet.
Something was not right and someone was here.
What is she going to do?
Another sasaeng had walked into the room and it so happened to be someone who worked at the hotel. The same woman who had given Jennie her food. She eagerly helped the other person put Jen's stolen items under the table, including her friendship ring.
"We'll meet with the others later. Double check the cameras, and get out of here," she advised and left the room with the table.
Getting out of the shower while leaving it on, she put on a towel and disconnected her phone from the speaker to give Seijin a quick call to frantically tell him that there was someone in her room. After he told her that he was on his way with the others and security, she decided to stay in the bathroom, feeling anxious.
"Jennie~, I know you know I'm here! Come out so we can meet! I'm a huge fan~!" the sasaeng said in a teasing voice.
This was so scary. Never in her life had she ever been in this type of situation. She became anxious when she heard the doorknob rattle as the sasaeng tried to get in. She didn't know if the sasaeng had intentions of hurting her or had some sort of weapon.
After hearing various sasaeng stories, she never thought she would be one to deal with someone breaking in. She hated this feeling. The feeling of being helpless and paralyzed with fear.
"Open up!" the sasaeng yelled, making her flinch and shed a few tears.
The sasaeng didn't want to leave like they were supposed to. They wanted to get noticed by their bias.
Looking around, Jennie grabbed the nearest weapon, a toilet plunger, just in case they attacked her. It wasn't much but it was something. She let out a shriek when the sasaeng began to kick at the door. After a while, they managed to break in and as soon as that door swung open, Jen couldn't even use the weapon.
"Get away from me!" Jen shouted when she was grabbed by the arm.
The sasaeng had a tight grip, digging their nails into her skin, with that sick smile on their face. Seijin and various security guards rushed into the room, to go straight after the sasaeng while Jen screamed.
"No! No! I love her! Let me go! Let me go!" the sasaeng began struggling and managed to get detained while Seijin made sure Jen was all right.
Jennie watched with distress as the sasaeng continued to go crazy. When they were taken away, she, still shaken up, explained what happened while in tears, holding on to Seijin. After he made a few calls, it was certain that Big Hit would be taking serious legal action over this, immediately.
If Jen didn't have her phone with her in the bathroom, who knows what could've happened? Her blood went cold as she still felt that death grip on her arm. She then looked at her suitcase which was open with her items scattered.
Anger soon overcame her, "And they had the audacity to touch my shit?!"
She ran her hands through her wet hair, fearing for the worst of what might have been taken. When she got dressed in her pajamas, there was an investigation of how the sasaeng broke in. Clearly, the sasaeng had some connections in this hotel and someone or more people helped them sneak in.
When the members found out what had happened, they immediately rushed to her room, Namjoon being the first, running in to hug her.
"Are you hurt!?" he demanded with worry.
Jen was not happy. She was mainly angry at herself for being in that type of situation and getting so scared. She was considering taking self defense classes or something to defend herself if God forbid no one was there to save her. The members stayed with her while Seijin filled them in on everything. Yoongi, Namjoon, Jungkook, and Jimin especially struggled to keep their cool, while everyone was concerned for her safety.
Just to see how easily the sasaeng came in from a room service table was not good and they will be increasing security and doing more hotel room checks from now on.
"And we found hidden cameras." Seijin pointed out.
"You're the one with the good news, today, huh?" Jen asked sarcastically, shaking her head. "Man...hidden cameras? Unbelievable...well, I clearly made it because I now have people breaking into my hotel room."
This was sick. What if they filmed her when she was undressed?
Later that evening, Jungkook came back to her room while Hobi was showering. He was still shaken up by what had happened with Jennie. Everyone was. He had wished that he could've protected her.
Noticing something bothering her and decided to ask, "What's on your mind?"
"I'm so sorry..." she murmured, shaking her head as tears appeared in her eyes
"For what?" he asked in alarm.
"I'm so sorry, Kook..."
"Wh-what's wrong?"
"I lost the ring..." she mumbled.
"What?"
"I lost the ring, Jungkook. I-I thought they took it but it wasn't found on them. I dunno where it can be. It's not in the room, the sasaeng doesn't have it. It's gone. Th-they searched everywhere."
His eyes softened as he held her close. "It's okay."
"That friendship ring meant everything to me. Now it's gone."
"It's okay."
"How can you say that so easily?" she looked up.
"Because what we have isn't just a ring. Your safety is worth more than a ring," he responded firmly. "You or a simple ring, I'd choose you in a heartbeat. I'm just glad you're safe. That's all that matters."
There were numerous reports of Jennie being the next unfortunate victim of dealing with a sasaeng as fans had voiced their concern and hoped that she would be okay. It was going to be a while until she got over this but being with the members helped ease the tension.
-------
As a pre-birthday surprise, the members and MPD decided to prank Jin. First was a mission which was to make an acrostic poem with Hong Kong. When Jin was declared the winner, he was shocked.
"Why me?" Jin asked, flustered.
Since he was the winner, he went out with MPD while the production crew gave the members instructions. They were to have the lights off and the members not in the room but only a woman lying in the bed as they hoped that Jin would fall for the plan.
"Yo, V cannot keep a secret. He kept mentioning Jin's birthday." Jen said on camera while they hid in the bathroom.
"He mentioned it twice!" Rapmon added
'Trust me, I know.' Jungkook thought about the various times V almost blurted out his feelings for Jennie.
Thankfully Jimin kept him in check. After a while, Jin came back and entered the room with MPD, only to jump when the girl screamed from the bed. Jin instantly jumped and began shaking.
"What, what, what is going on!?" he exclaimed.
"Happy birthday to you~!" the members walked out with a cake while laughing. Jin continued to stand there, stunned while Jimin held onto him. "Happy birthday to our beloved Jin Hyung! Happy birthday to you!"
"I was so startled!" Jin exclaimed after blowing out the candles. "I was like what? Who's that?"
"Did you fall for our plan?" J-Hope asked
"I did!"
When it was officially Jin's birthday, backstage during a music show, Suga and Jimin started a V-Live and walked over to Jin with a cake. Everyone had sung happy birthday to him.
"Whaaaaaa!" Suga yelled while the members butt in the camera to get in the frame.
"It's so good to be with our members on my birthday. And it's even better to be with our fans. Give me a knife to cut the cake." the birthday boy requested.
"Here you go!" J-Hope pretended that his hand was a knife, pretending to chop the cake while the other members did the same thing.
After getting an official knife, Jin began to cut it.
"It's blueberry yogurt," Jimin informed.
"Looks mighty tasty~!" Jen added.
"Who wants it?" Jin asked
"You first, Jin." J-Hope answered
As soon as he took the first bite, J-Hope said, "Yeeeahhh."
When he ate another piece, the members said, "Yeaaaah."
Another bite.
"Yuuuuuum!"
"It's good, right?" J-Hope asked
And another bite.
"Yuuuuum!"
"So good!" Jin answered with his mouth full.
"53,000 of our fans are with us," Suga announced.
"It's my birthday and I hope you'll be happy too. We'll do our best to show you the best performance today. So please enjoy it." Jin beamed
"Happy birthday! Bye!" they wave goodbye.
After the V-Live, Jen presented Jin with a Mario themed birthday box. "Happy birthday~!"
"For me? And it's Mario? Oh wow, thank you, Jennie." he happily accepted it and sat down with her to open it. "I have been looking forward to getting your birthday box. It was one of my top birthday wishes."
"Oh really? Well, I'm glad this birthday wish came true. I hope you like it."
Opening up the letter, Jin couldn't help but giggle. On the top was a small ship she drew with the pun, 'Oh ship! It's your birthday!'
To my precious Jin,
Ah, you're getting older! But as each year goes by, you get more handsome. Just ask those who call you the car door guy back at the Melon Awards. Thank you for always taking care of me over the years. You have always looked out for me. Even that time when I was embarrassed when my period came unexpectedly and you were there and washed my sheets for me and took me to the store to buy what I needed. And as much as I hated that time when you forced me to take medicine when I got sick for the first time in Korea, I'm glad you did because even though we were just getting to know each other, you were concerned about me and wanted to help me.
You have no idea how proud you make me when I see you dance. I can definitely see the improvement and I hope you can too because your hard work is paying off. You have been working diligently on everything and just know that we appreciate all that you do. I will continue to help you clean and cook for the members. I don't want you to do all the work by yourself. I'll always be there to help you out. Oh yeah, and thanks for increasing my appetite because you were the main one wanting me to eat more when I came here. I want to be a part of Eat Jin soon, so invite me to your show!
Your laugh is one of my favorite things about you. It's contagious and I will continue to tease you about it. I also love your silly dad jokes. I swear I be like the only one laughing because of how silly they are but I always appreciate them. There are times when I think about them and start laughing and then the members stare at me like I'm crazy, haha. Including you! But you're the reason for my random laughter. Happy birthday and I wish you many more happy, safe, and healthy birthdays to come.
Love,
Your precious Jennie
After he had read the letter, he wrapped his arms around her for a tight hug and began giving her kisses all over her face as she tried to escape while laughing.
As the days went by in December, BTS promoted Run on music shows. During one show, V had the opportunity to MC. The members were very eager to watch him in action. Jennie wondered when she'd have that random opportunity to MC for a music show. It seemed a bit intimidating with the script and having to do all this random stuff. But she hoped that when it was her time to do so, it would be fun and a great learning experience.
"Ah shit, I accidentally got foundation on your face." she noticed some of her makeup on the side of Tae's cheek after she kissed him for good luck.
That helped calm his nerves since he was so nervous about MCing and he began to laugh at her struggling to wipe the brown makeup off.
"Stop laughing! I'm tryna help!" she giggled
"Hehehe, thank you, I needed this laugh." He responded as a stylist came to fix his makeup.
"You are going to be just fine. Everyone gets nervous when they do stuff like this for the first time. But you're a natural on camera. You're always so silly and bring in that adorable charm that fans love. We'll be watching you backstage, cheering you on, mkay? Ennie will always support you. Don't forget that."
Taehyung gave her two big kisses on her cheeks as she laughed.
"Oh, my gosh, Tae! You got my makeup on you again!"
And for Inkigayo with Rap Monster MCing, Jen and the rest of the members watched him from backstage.
"Bruh...I dunno what he was so nervous for. If he is, it clearly does not show on camera. Look at how smooth he is. He's doing so well." Jen said for a Bangtan Bomb.
On Music Bank, the members were hoping to get their first win for Run. Some members were asked what they thought about the possibility of getting their first win.
Jen answered, "Prayer is a powerful thing, so I'm praying that we get this first win. And I have faith in ARMY. Things will be fine."
Thanks to ARMY's hard work, Bangtan got first place as the confetti came down on the stage. Fans screamed louder than ever for them as the members broke out into huge smiles, applauding as they received flowers from the MCs. It was nothing like getting a first win and it was something that they will honor every time they get it.
"Thank you ARMY! Love you!" Suga said over the mic.
Receiving the mic, Jen happily shouted, "ARMY, you rock! Thank you!"
"Thank you so much ARMY!" V spoke
"Thank you, everyone! Woo! We won first place!" Jimin waved as their song came on while the other idols left the stage.
Since Bangtan won first place, they wanted Jennie and Jungkook to perform Adult Ceremony to become an adult. So, making ARMY scream louder than they were before, the members continued to slowly bend down and do a little bit of the choreography while singing run and waving.
Rushing off stage, Rapmon happily said, "We got first place! Jungkookie and Ennie are now adults!"
"Thank you!" Suga blew a kiss
"Woo~ First win! Woo! BTS Run first win, woo!" Jennie yelled in front of the Bangtan Bomb camera, grabbing it and giving it a big kiss on the lens.
"We got first place! We got first place!" J-Hope excitedly yelled
"You've worked hard~!" Jungkook waved
"Wow~!" Jin showed off the award, looking at it in awe.
"We won an award!" Jimin said, with Taehyung having his arm around his shoulder.
Backstage, Jimin and Jennie were filmed together with J-Hope making funny faces in the background and hugging Jen from behind.
"Jennie, since you became an adult and won first place, what are your thoughts?" Jimin asked.
"First, ARMY, you did this for us, your hard work and dedication to supporting us is always appreciated. So again, thank you and we love you very much. And since I've become an adult, I can have all the smarties I want without no one telling me no, muhahahah~!" she laughed evilly.
"Muhahahah?" J-Hope questioned
"Muhahaha!" she answered back.
"Muhahahaha~!" he copied her.
"You two are very weird." Jimin laughed.
-------
BTS were on another episode of Weekly Idol, discussing their RUN comeback. For random dancing, Coni mentioned, "As a way to motivate them so they don't make any more mistakes, what about giving a kiss to each other."
"Oh, that's really strong," J-Hope responded as the members looked astonished
"Who? Who?" Suga called out
"Say what now?" Jen added
"That's good, the first person to make a mistake will give a member a kiss on the cheek," Coni said
As the members began to dance, it started simple with no mistakes. But once Boy In Luv came on, it looked like Jungkook had messed up.
"Time out, time out. Jungkook!" Heechul exclaimed as they both went to him and J-Hope.
They thought J-Hope's facial expressions were way too obvious and he acted like he didn't make a mistake.
"I was a bit confused," J-Hope admitted.
"Is it better to be kissed by Jungkook or by J-Hope?"
"Wouldn't it be better if they just kissed each other?" V suggested
"WOW!" everyone shouted.
Tumblr media
Jennie began laughing loudly as she saw the two poor boys cringing and taking a step back.
"Say, 'Let's not be wrong from now on', then hug and once...twice...do that." Coni demonstrated, kissing Jungkook on the cheek as he cringed.
Jennie giggled at his reaction. He was just too cute. Soon Jungkook and J-Hope held hands and stood in front of each other.
"Hyung, let's...not make mistakes," Jungkook said as they went to hug each other.
"Euahhhhhhhh~!" J-Hope yelled as they reluctantly got close to each other's faces. "This is cruel!"
Once J-Hope had yelled and kissed his cheek, everyone had to push Jungkook's head near J-Hope's cheek to kiss him. The boys were so happy when the torture was over.
"Everyone, this time, instead of a kiss, do one hit on the wrist," Coni revealed the next punishment.
When they continued their next round of random dancing, this time Suga got confused when I Need U came on and sheepishly tried to explain himself. He exposed his wrist out for Jungkook to hit.
"You have to kind of like it!" Heechul explained, demonstrating getting hit and dramatically saying, "Ah!"
It seemed too inappropriate for the broadcast as the members burst out in laughter.
"No, he did not just say that!" Jen laughed.
"That's too weird!" Suga exclaimed and got hit by Jin and Rapmon afterward.
"If you get it wrong the third time, this time, the butt." Coni demonstrated.
Jennie took a step back, exclaiming, "UH! UH!"
"UH UH!" "UH UH!" They replay her shocked sound effect as everyone laughed while she protectively covered her butt with her hands.
"I will knock somebody out," she announced, getting defensive, pounding her fist once against her palm.
Taehyung had accidentally slapped her ass during the War of Hormone era in one performance at a music show. She knew fans wanted the full story of how that happened. She planned to discuss it when she went to talk to JRE in January.
Her ass was not going to get hit by anyone. Not today. Not the next day, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day, and so on. You have to earn it to touch her ass.
Jimin and Taehyung thought about Jennie messing up and trying to get Jungkook to be the one to give her the punishment, giggling to themselves.
As they danced again, War of Hormone came on and it popped up to Jen's verse.
Of course, it did...
Strutting to the front she danced powerfully.
...but I ain't you baby, you gotta earn that.
Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello!
I'll tell you what I want right now!
Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello!
I ain't giving it to you right now!
She successfully got the moves right as the chorus continued. She was not letting anyone touch her booty. They can look but they can't touch. If anything, you gotta be her significant other first.
Once Boy in Luv came on, Jimin was finally caught.
"We'll do the last punishment and after that, especially for you, we'll add another on top of that," Coni said. "The two MCs will hug Jimin and-"
"No," Jimin begged. "You don't have to do things like that." he fell to his knees and laughed
"A hug and a kiss," Heechul said while the members laughed and applauded.
Jennie, Suga, J-Hope, Taehyung and Jungkook gave Jimin pats on his butt and then he was hugged from behind by Heechul. When Jimin received kisses on the cheek, the members yelled, continuing to cringe.
During the next segment, BTS received phone calls from various fans who were very excited. The phone lines were down due to the high demand for Bangtan, which bewildered the members. One fan had spoken in English, talking to Jennie and she was moved that the fan was learning English to communicate with her. Jen made the fan feel good when she praised their English skills.
"So, what is this about Jin and Jennie wrestling?" Coni asked
Jin and Jen glanced at each other and laughed while the members thought about the hilarious memories.
"That was a fun day." Jen happily nodded.
"That match didn't count because she cheated. I was supposed to win." Jin exclaimed
"You tapped out. It doesn't get much clearer than that, Jin."
"AHHHHHHH~!" the members said with their loud laughter filling the studio.
They had played the clip of Jennie putting Jin in an armbar and him tapping out while Jin became flustered. His ears got red as he tried to explain himself.
"Will there be a continuation?" Heechul asked. "Round two?"
"I mean, we could. You down?" Jen turned to Jin.
"I still need to win so of course." Jin nodded eagerly.
"I dunno about all that but anyway." she teased as Jin blankly stared at her. "I guess when we have some free time, we'll think of some funny promos and work on what we want to do for Jin vs Jen Part 2. Stay tuned."
As the show went on, with Rapmon struggling to cut an onion, they had their idol on the grill segment. The male members would be called Bulletproof Girl Scouts while Jennie would be called the Bulletproof Boy Scout. They recapped the female idols the boys wanted to get closest to and how Jennie was very interested in EXO. So the plan was to dance to an idol song and they'll be given Korean Beef.
"Jennie! Which EXO song would you like to perform?" she was asked.
"Call me baby~," she answered and stood up.
"Of course." Jimin giggled.
"Yes, we are fully aware that you love this group a lot. Especially Baekhyun." Coni teased.
"I hope that one day I could have the opportunity to collab with an EXO member." she brought up. "That would be so cool. I learn a lot from groups such as them when I watch them perform. It motivates me to work harder. Collabing with a group like EXO, I'm sure I can learn a lot from them. Even if it's just one member, a simple dance collab, or singing together, I'd be grateful."
"EXO if you are watching, what is your answer?" Coni asked.
As the song came on, it started with the chorus after Chanyeol's verse. It looked like she would have to do some eye-opening pelvic thrusts. She even had her hand on her crotch and thrust her hips up. It surprised the members along with her fluent body rolls and movement with the song. The MCs were impressed with her powerful movements and praised her. When Jen watched the rest of the members dance, she immediately covered her mouth when Rapmon danced to EXID's Up & Down.
When it was Jungkook's turn, he mentioned that he wasn't familiar with any IU songs and decided to dance Up & Down instead. Sure enough, being the extra Golden Maknae that he is, the MCs hyped him up while the members laughed. Jennie dropped her jaw when he started to thrust up and down.
"Whoa! Yeah! Whoa! Yeah!" the MCs yelled as he displayed a different personality once again.
'Did you hear what Jennie said on Weekly Idol!?' fans asked under Baekhyun's Instagram.
What got everyone talking was that Baekhyun had only responded with a smiley emoji, causing everyone to flip out at the possibility.
Will SM Entertainment allow a member from EXO to collaborate with Jennie one day?
And will Big Hit allow Jennie to collaborate with a member from EXO one day?
These were questions on everyone's minds and it had been anticipated ever since she released that cover. It looked like they would have to stay tuned to find out.
---------
When Christmas Eve came, Jennie and Jungkook spent the day playing video games in Jungkook's room.
"Jennie, later I want you to help me bake," Jin called out, walking past the room.
"I got you, just let me know!" she answered.
Jin examined the living room of the dorm with a smile. Christmas music was playing softly in the background and the tree was decorated. After a fierce game of rock, paper, scissors, Jin was the one to put the star on the tree.
"And what are you two doing, now?" he asked when Jimin and Taehyung were wandering around the dorm.
"Put one right here...right here...right there...and there..." Jimin placed mistletoes all around the dorm with Taehyung, in hopes to finally get JenKook to kiss.
The 95 Liners wanted this done ASAP.
This needed to happen TODAY.
"Why are you putting so many mistletoes up?" Jin asked
"Shhh, not so loud, you want them to notice?" Jimin shushed him.
"Jennie and Jungkook? Oh my gosh, Jimin, Taehyung, this is not going to work."
"Yeah. You two should give it up. You're doing too much..." Yoongi mumbled from the couch, lying down.
"I don't think that is going to work. Just let it go naturally, all right?" Namjoon added
"Oh come on! This will be a great opportunity!" Taehyung whined.
"I dunno what we are going to do with them." Jin sighed and went to the kitchen.
Later that day, Jen helped Jin with baking tons of cookies and placed the last remaining gifts under the tree. Jungkook joined in to make sure things were in order.
Meanwhile, Jimin and Taehyung watched JenKook's every move, hoping that they would get under one of the many mistletoes they put around the dorm. They waited all day and still had no success in getting them under the mistletoe. It began to frustrate the 95 Liners.
It wasn't until later that evening they finally yelled, "Look who is under the mistletoe~!" when Jennie was right in front of Jungkook who was by the door in the bathroom and they looked up to see a mistletoe on top of the door.
"Oh. Oh wow." Jen chuckled softly.
Jungkook looked shooked once he saw it. He was not prepared as his hyungs were looking on in anticipation and cheering. The pressure was starting to get to him and he began to feel overwhelmed.
"I mean, you wanna...?" Jen's voice brought him back to reality as she was waiting for him to tell her what he wanted to do.
"U-uh, sorry." he quickly rushed away, flustered, going to his room.
That did not sit well with the 95 Liners.
"JEON JUNGKOOOOOOOOOOOK!" Jimin yelled in anguish, falling to his knees.
"NO!" Taehyung rushed after him with Jimin.
"ARE YOU SERIOUS?! ARE YOU SERIOUS!?"
Jennie laughed at how silly they were acting. "Guys, it's all good! Relax!" she reassured. "Anyway, I gotta pee."
She, however, did deep down feel a little disappointed that he decided not to kiss her. But brushed the feeling aside. She shouldn't take it personally. He probably didn't want to be put on the spot like that. She understood.
With Jungkook who was trying to calm himself down in his room, he was a little angry at himself for chickening out but he wanted to kiss her without anyone looking. He wanted to do stuff like that in private. Alone, with no one else around or in another room nearby. But with his hyungs all around him like this, that wasn't going to work.
If they were truly alone, he would relax and show her a real kiss like he always dreamed about.
Once it was past 12am, Christmas Day, Jen had been cleaning up the dishes in the kitchen while everyone else had settled into their room. Hearing footsteps, she glanced up to see Jungkook strolling into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water.
"Ah, so you finally came out of your room," she called out as she watched him avert his eyes and set the water down on the counter. "Am I that unkissable?" she teased.
As soon as she said that, he looked up, widening his eyes. "N-no! It's not that, i-it's just..."
"Hey, it's fine, don't worry about it. I understand. It's a lot of pressure being put on the spot like that. I'm not one for kissing in front of an audience like that, myself."
"But-"
"Kook, it's fine. Really. I get it."
"I wanted to. I wanted to kiss you."
That caught her by surprise. "Really?"
"Yeah. I wanted to. I still do," he responded and saw her smile instantly from his words.
While JenKook talked, Jimin, Taehyung, and Hobi were spying on them from afar. The three tried not to make any noise as they eagerly watched them.
"What are you two doing-"
"Shh!" they cut Jin off and brought him close to them so he wouldn't get noticed.
"Oh my gosh...if they would just look up already. I planted a mistletoe right in the kitchen." Jimin complained in a hushed voice
"I know~," Taehyung whined.
"Now, what if this doesn't work?" Jin called out
"It will work! It better work!" Jimin grabbed him by the shirt and yanked him.
"W-we can always try New Year's!"
"No! Jimin and I want this done now! Long overdue! One step closer to our wonderful ship to sail." Taehyung replied
Back with JenKook, Jennie looked at him. Something in her stomach flipped and part of her felt thrilled that he wanted to kiss her. Throughout the entire rest of the day after the first attempt, she had that feeling in the back of her mind that she wanted to kiss him. But she couldn't understand why.
Should she be feeling this way?
Jungkook soon looked up and noticed that there was a mistletoe right over him, causing butterflies in his stomach and excitement.
The boys spying on them became so giddy that their cover was almost blown when they saw them find out.
Jennie and Jungkook stood in the kitchen in a comfortable silence, glancing up at the mistletoe and back at each other.
Did she want to kiss him? Should he make a move?
Noticing him trying to figure out what to do, Jennie decided to take the lead, slowly walking forward and gently grabbing his hands. As she looked up at him, she realized how much she loved how her soft hands fit nicely with his large ones and how handsome he looked up close.
Standing on top of his feet, she raised herself up on her tippy toes until she was right at his face. The faint Christmas music was heard in the background as they spent a moment looking at each other.
"Oh my God, oh my God, it's happening..." Taehyung fanboyed with Jimin in quiet voices as they looked on.
Jungkook watched her lean in, closing her eyes and he soon did the same until their lips met, softly. He felt so many emotions as he kissed her and even faintly tasted peppermint on her lips from the candy cane she had eaten earlier.
As soon as they saw them lock lips, Jimin and Taehyung covered their mouths before they screamed for joy. The two fell to the ground, rolling around in excitement while Hobi and Jin were jumping around in glee, back in the bedroom.
Jennie felt something strong behind such a simple mistletoe kiss with her best friend as she gently pulled away, releasing his hands. She felt her heart rate increase while Jungkook felt his cheeks flushed.
"There. Not so bad, right?" she took a step back and smiled softly. "Merry Christmas, Kookie."
Watching her walk to her room to go to bed, Jungkook touched his lips and let out a soft chuckle, overjoyed. Her lips were softer than he expected. Big difference from Rookie King.
Reminiscing on the moment he shared with her, he wanted to kiss her more than just once like they just did. The kiss felt too quick for him and he made a promise that the next time they kissed on the lips, he'd show her a real kiss to prove how much she meant to him.
-----
"Merry Christmas!" Taehyung dove on top of Jennie on her bed as she let out a groan.
It was too early for this. She was just dreaming about Nike finally noticing her and allowing her to endorse their stuff.
"Merry Christmas~!" Jimin ran in to dive on top of Tae, causing her to let out another groan.
"Merry Christmas~!" Jungkook jumped on top of Jimin while Jennie continued to deal with the torture of heavy bodies on her back.
She muffled something against her pillow while the Maknae Line tried to comprehend what she was saying.
"Guys, I think we're crushing her, hehehe." Taehyung giggled as they all got off of her.
She rolled out of bed and stood up. "Ow, my back...why are y'all so damn heavy?"
"Come on, we wanna open up presents! But Jin is making us eat breakfast, first! Let's go! Get a move on!" Taehyung dragged her out of the room to meet with the rest of the members.
Saying their good mornings, they sat to eat.
As breakfast went along, Jimin mischievously asked with a smirk, "So...did anyone get caught under the mistletoe, last night?"
Tumblr media
Jungkook instantly narrowed his eyes at him but then glanced at Jennie. She looked unfazed and not bothered by the question.
"What about you Jennie? Kiss anyone last night?" Hobi asked.
"You kissed someone last night?" Yoongi asked with sleep in his voice.
"Who'd you smooch?" Namjoon asked with interest.
"I'm just glad there wasn't any tongue." Jin blurted out
"Wow, you just exposed yourself. You were spying." Jen called out, making Jin flustered.
"Darn it Jin!" Taehyung exclaimed.
"Come on!" Jimin yelled.
"Who kissed who?" Namjoon kept asking.
"She kissed Jungkook last night!" Taehyung announced loud and proud.
Jungkook felt himself blushing and looking down. He could never get a break from his hyungs.
"Did you like the kiss?" Hobi asked with a smile.
"Sorry, but I don't kiss and tell." she smiled and placed her dishes in the sink.

At the sound of the knock, Naran’s eyes shot open. The first thing she saw upon waking was Hyungwon’s messy mop shading his face as he slumbered on the pillow beside her. He had rolled onto his side so he was facing her, his nose close to her shoulder though they did not touch. When he slept, he looked so innocent and yet untouchable, like a cherub in a fresco.
The second thing she saw was the sunlight.
Oh, this was bad. Very bad.
“My lord, I think we fell asleep.”
Hyungwon grumbled and burrowed deeper under the blankets.
“My lord—”
He cut her off with a hand around her waist and his chin nestled against her shoulder. His eyes stayed stubbornly closed, which only showcased how long his lashes were kissing the pillows of his cheeks.
“They’re knocking for you, sire.”
Though his eyes stay closed, Hyungwon’s brow furrowed. “This is the best night’s sleep I've ever had. I beg you, please don't end it.”
Naran hesitated, but finally, she sat up and ran her hands through her hair a few times before wiping the sleep from her eyes and lips. Only then did she realize with sheer horror that her dressing gown was still around her waist, leaving her fully exposed. As she clambered to get the straps back up and the hooks refastened, she said, “Please, your grace, they’re getting angrier.”
With a growl, Hyungwon splayed onto his back and barked to the interloper, “What the hell do you want, demon?”
Hansol’s stern voice came through the door, “Your Highness, it’s mid-morning. You’ve missed breakfast.”
At this, Hyungwon’s eyes creaked open resentfully. “Don’t newlyweds get a day off?”
“They should, Your Highness,” his valet agreed, “but, unfortunately, the royal families have been inquiring about you, and indeed, your father has become particularly insistent on an answer. What answer must I give, Your Grace?”
The prince sighed and rolled his head toward his wife in time to find her leaping out of bed and into the biggest, most amorphous ceremonial robe she could find on the floor. With a different sigh now, he called back, “You may tell them I shall meet them in the tea room.”
“Very good, Your Highness. And…” There was an uncertain note in the valet’s voice as he considered his next words. “How shall I answer for Her Highness?”
Mortification ran rampant through Naran. They all knew she was still in the prince’s room, and all the princess wanted to do was fade into the shadows in the corner.
Luckily, Hyungwon said, “She may answer for herself. Why don’t you send Magda to her room to inquire?”
Naran let out a grateful breath.
“Very well, My Lord. I shall go at once.”
The sound of Hansol’s feet padding down the corridor brought air rushing back into Naran’s lungs, and she hurried to gather her wedding clothes from the floor.
Hyungwon sat up on his elbow and studied her as he asked, “Do you have plans for today?”
Keeping her back firmly to him, the princess answered, “I’m going to spend the day in the gardens with my sister.”
“Oh, I shall join you then.”
“You needn’t bother—”
Hyungwon shrugged and swung his feet over the bed as he looked for a pair of pants. “It has been a while since I’ve visited the gardens, and I am also very fond of your sister. We are one family now, are we not?”
“I don’t think we need to push that agenda so hard, don’t you agree?”
“I’m sorry?”
“I’m not going to run away, you know,” she blurted, and they both stopped.
“I didn’t think you would,” the prince said cautiously. His pants sagged in his hands now as he considered her words. “Have you been thinking about that?”
After a long pause, Naran said, “Most days, yes. But there’s no point, I know this. I won’t risk my family and my people for my freedom.”
Hyungwon didn’t have anything to say to that. He simply donned his pants and headed to his wardrobe for a fresh shirt.
“I’ll leave you to your morning routine,” she said with a bow. “Please do not wait for me to head out.”
“I will not.”
Hyungwon’s voice was very cold. Usually, it was colored—sometimes with lively yellows and oranges and sometimes with intense blacks and reds—but this time, it had no color in it at all, and Naran was surprised at how deeply its emptiness penetrated her, especially after its brilliant textures last night.
Cold as it was, it was necessary. Lines were already blurry when they shouldn’t have been. Maybe she should have expected that considering all that had been asked of them so soon, but business was business, and Naran had to put herself first since no one else would. After all, the only one who ever ended up jilted in a palace was the woman.
“And, my lord,” she said with her back to him in the doorway, “I am very sorry I fell asleep in your room last night. I won't let it happen again.”
Hyungwon cleared his throat roughly and answered, “Please close the door on your way out.”

“Hello?” came a very annoyed voice from out of nowhere.
Naran blinked and looked to her right to find her sister staring at her with high brows.
They were sitting at the edge of the lotus pond with a handful of pebbles that Naran barely remembered collecting to startle the frogs from the lily pads. The crown princess had no idea how long they’d been sitting there, and she had even less memory about walking there in the first place.
“Sorry, my mind was wandering,” Naran confessed.
“Obviously,” replied Saran with a roll of her eyes. “Why on Earth are you with me today? Shouldn't you be spending time with your new husband?”
“I spent an entire night with the man. Isn't that enough?”
Naran chucked a rock into the pond, and it made a satisfying plip! as it sank beneath the surface.
Saran followed suit with a cast of her own pebble, this one farther and much more spectacular in its splash. “What was that like anyway, hm? Was it scary? Was it fun? The prince is a good kisser like I thought, isn't he?”
“Mother told you to ask me that, didn't she?”
Saran pouted. “So what if she did? I want to know, too.”
The crown princess clambered up to her knees and scrunched her nose at her sister. “You can tell Mother that everything went as it was supposed to, and I’ll say nothing more about it. Ever.”
Naran started back down the path again, and her sister raced after her, the pebbles scattering all over the once-tidy path. “You mean I could already be an aunt?”
The look of joy that flooded across Saran’s face as she glanced at the crown princess’s stomach made Naran’s throat tighten.
“There's no way to know such a thing so soon,” the older sister grumbled. “Now, did you want to ride my horse today or not?”
“I do!”
“Then quit talking nonsense and try and keep up.”
With that, Naran took off like an arrow from a loosed bow, cackling and hooting while her sister wailed in protest. Saran had always been slower, but the regulation hanbok the crown princess had to wear now billowed like a parachute against the wind and slowed her down enough that her sister could snag one long sleeve and stop her. Laughing, they walked arm-in-arm to the stables, stopping once along the way to pluck pears from the trees and take shelter from the blazing late summer sun.
By the time they reached the stables, they had nearly forgotten they were anywhere other than back at home in Moghulikhan, but the majesty of the grounds brought a little of their composure back. A long row of shiny-coated, eager horse faces perked at the appearance of guests, and one further down the line even whinnied in excitement.
“Is that one yours?” Saran asked.
“It is.”
The teenager beamed and took off down the pathway to greet the enthusiastic horse.
“He's a stallion. Have you ridden one before?” asked Naran.
“I have.”
The older sister glared at the younger. “Are you sure? They can be a challenge.”
“I have! You know I’m Moghul, too, yes?”
“All right, but if you fall off, I’m telling Mother you stole my horse.”
Just then, a beautiful black horse stepped from the last corral, its rider already tall and proud on its back. A look of surprise passed through all three riders at once.
“Apologies, my ladies,” said Prince Hyungwon with a bow in the saddle. “I thought you were in the gardens today?”
“We were, my lord,” answered Naran though she wished she didn’t have to. With his own black mane to rival his horse’s, the prince cut a dashing figure, especially with the leather reins threaded between his fingers. Her eyes fell instead to his shiny boots tucked in the stirrups, and she continued, “Now, we came for a ride. What are you doing here? I thought you didn’t ride?”
“Of course I can ride, just not as well as some coin-nicking tigresses I know.”
Hyungwon and Naran exchanged brief smiles while Saran cocked an eyebrow. “What are you two talking about?”
“Only that your sister is the finest rider I have ever seen. She bested my best rider handily.”
“Naturally. You know, once when Naran was a girl, she tried to start a rumor that she was born on a horse, but none of the kitchen boys believed her.”
“Oh, stuff it, you rodent!” groused the crown princess as she elbowed her sister. “For that betrayal, you shall not ride my horse today.”
Saran started to pout, but before Naran could fold, Hyungwon beamed down at the girl. “Fear not, sister. I have just the horse for you. Since I could never catch up to the Princess Supreme anyway, why don’t you ride my horse for the day?”
A pang of something strange hit Naran in the chest as she watched her sister’s eyes dance from the gorgeous beast in front of her to the one sitting astride it. For his part, Hyungwon smiled in his usual way—with his full lips pulled taut like a bow and his bright eyes nearly squeezed shut by his puffy lids.
“She’s beautiful! I’ve never seen her equal, even back in Moghulikhan.”
“I’m glad you like her,” the prince said as he hopped off and buffed the saddle. “Her name is Jajung.”
Hyungwon grabbed Saran’s waist to give her a boost, and once her feet were in the stirrups, she looked down at him with gratitude. “Oh, but what shall you ride, Your Highness?”
The prince seemed to remember himself, and his moment of levity dissipated with the lone cloud across the afternoon sun. “No worries, my lady. I shall bow out for this ride and let you sisters chat in peace. I was just trying to escape my duties anyway, but they always catch up with me in the end, don’t they?”
“But you came to ride, sire!” Saran protested. “Ride with us. I will rein in Naran so she does not leave us in her dust.”
Hyungwon looked to the crown princess, but one glance in her frantic eyes supplied his response for him. “I shall take you up on that another time, my dear Princess Sarangerel. I bid you two a wonderful ride. It’s a beautiful day to enjoy the grounds.”
With that, Hyungwon bowed and headed back toward the palace proper. Saran glared at her sister. “Why did you not insist Prince Hyungwon ride with us?”
“Why should he? I thought today was about us?”
“You mean besides the fact that you literally just got married yesterday? As much as I want to spend every waking minute with you, Naran, I should like to know my brother a bit better, too, especially if he is to be father to my nephews and nieces. After all, you’re the one who stood me up for him this morning.”
Naran flushed as she remembered she’d been expected to breakfast with her sister first thing. “That wasn’t what happened, honest. You know yesterday was a lot for me.”
“Fine. We may ride now, but I expect that you make time for all of us to be together moving forward. Besides, don’t you think Prince Hyungwon looked very lonely?”
“This is his house. He has plenty with which to occupy himself and plenty of people with whom he can occupy himself. I don’t have to worry about such things.”
“That’s exactly what newlyweds should worry about,” scolded the girl.
“Talk to me about this again when you’re married, okay? I don’t want to hear any more advice from you on the matter.” Saran slumped in the saddle, and the crown princess regretted her words immediately. With a sigh, Naran said, “I have heard you, I swear it. And since I don’t want to spend our time together arguing, would you please forgive me, my beloved?”
At this, the girl brightened. “Always.”
Relieved, Naran hopped into in her own saddle, too, and nudged her horse in front of the prince’s beautiful beast. “Come, let me show you the pastures. They really are beautiful.”
Her sister followed her out of the yard, and as they enjoyed the day, Naran did her very best to put from the back of her mind the man she now called her husband.

Part of the princess expected Hyungwon to be waiting at the stables when they returned, at the very least to ensure his horse’s safe return, but he was not. Instead, Hansol was there. He helped Saran disembark and then fed and watered the horses for the ladies as they returned to the palace.
“You’ve been awfully quiet, even for you,” Saran observed as the ladies strolled through one of the flower gardens on their way back toward the tearoom.
“Have I? I’m probably just tired from yesterday.”
“Do you want to stop and rest for a bit? It’s pretty here.”
Naran shook her head. “I think I’m just a little hungry.”
“Well, you didn’t eat breakfast,” her sister reminded smugly, and the crown princess rolled her eyes.
As they entered the palace, they came across the empress leaving the tearoom. She greeted both of the princesses with a shallow bow and a shallower smile. “I was just speaking about you two. Did you enjoy your ride?”
Saran, who was too intimidated by the great lady, kept her eyes and voice low as she praised the grounds and the horses, leaving Naran to bear the brunt of the empress’s peerless gaze. There was something in it that made the crown princess feel like she was being reprimanded.
“And you, Princess Narangerel?” pressed Indeok.
“It was lovely, thank you.”
“I’m so pleased that after a busy day like yesterday you found a way to unwind. I believe my son was looking for ways to relax a bit as well.”
Ah…
“Perhaps that’s why he’s nursing his third cup of tea by himself in the tearoom,” the empress continued.
Naran’s heart sank. Her mother-in-law’s meaning couldn’t have been clearer, and the crown princess felt heat rise beneath the neckline of her hanbok.
“Do you think it’s all right if we disturb him then?” Naran said carefully.
Empress Indeok pursed her lips. “I can’t imagine a time where a new husband wouldn’t welcome the face of his beautiful wife.”
Naran could feel her sister fidgeting beside her, and she knew she had to remove the poor girl from the mess she’d made as fast as possible. “Then if Her Highness would please excuse us…”
Both princesses bowed deeply as the empress passed, and when they finally rose, Saran slapped her sister on the arm. “I told you!”
“I know, I know.”
“Well, I’m not taking tea with you then. Go apologize to the Prince, and I’ll go to Mother.”
“Oh, please don’t leave me!” Naran begged. “I don’t know what to say. I’m so bad at this.”
Saran raised an eyebrow. “I’m just a dumb teenager, remember, but I’d say why don’t you start with exactly that?”
The older sister wrapped the younger into a tight hug and kissed the crown of the girl’s head. “You’re not dumb. You’re the best and cleverest sister ever.”
“Says the sister who sacrificed time with her handsome prince to be with me. Now, go!”
Saran pushed off and headed down the hall toward the guest quarters, leaving Naran face-to-face with the ornately carved door to the tearoom. With a deep breath, she entered.
As the empress had not-so-subtly hinted, Hyungwon was there, seated with his back to the door and staring at the shadows of the leaves dancing through the papered windows. His voice came over the rim of his teacup as he barked, “I said I don’t want to be disturbed.”
“Shall I go then?” Naran replied, and the prince whirled around so fast, his tea splashed into his saucer.
“I’m sorry,” he said sheepishly. “I thought you were my mother. She’s been bothering me a lot today.”
“If you still want, I can—”
“Please stay,” he insisted, gesturing to the open seat across the little table from him.
Naran nodded and sat, folding her hands in her lap. Hyungwon raced toward the teapot to pour her a cup, and she took it with a grateful smile. After a couple sips, she found her husband still staring at her, and she cleared her throat.
“I’m sorry about today.”
“What do you mean?” he asked.
“Well, about the horses. I should have asked you to join us?” She hated how obvious it was that she had no idea what she should be saying, but for once, she took her sister’s advice and persevered through the awkwardness. “I’m not used to having to answer to someone in my life. I barely know how to do so with my own parents.”
Hyungwon nodded. “It’s okay. I had things to do anyway.”
Like drink three cups of tea by yourself?
“No doubt, my lord.”
As she mused back on her long walk of shame toward her sister’s room that morning, Naran found her fingers were gripping her teacup like a vise. She thought that maybe she shouldn’t bring it up, but the words were out before she could think better of them. “I overheard a few of the servants talking about our wedding this morning.”
At this, Hyungwon raised an eyebrow. “Did you?”
“They definitely did not know I was there; otherwise, they might not have been so free as to voice their worries.”
“Worries?”
The prince bit his bottom lip, and Naran mirrored the gesture.
“That they might not receive the same attentions they were used to from their favorite royal…”
Hyungwon’s ears reddened. “Oh…”
The princess watched the amber ripples in her teacup as the air seemed to fog in the room.
“I’m sorry you had to hear that,” he said.
“It’s fine, my lord. We have discussed this, after all, but it occurred to me that one caveat to our contract may not have been so clearly spelled out especially after last night’s events.”
Though his skin was still pink and his foot was shaking, her husband studied her now. “What is it?”
“We agreed you may continue your trysts with whomever you’d like, as you are accustomed, so long as I might indulge my own fancies as well.”
At this, Hyungwon put down his teacup rather harshly, and when he spoke again, gone was any note of embarrassment he might have. “The difference here is that if I get a maid pregnant, she is put up with a comfortable assignment as a consort and her child is raised in privilege. If you get pregnant and the baby looks like my footman, well, that does not end so neatly.”
Emboldened by his frank words, Naran laughed bitterly. “Let me speak plainly, sire, so we understand one another perfectly for once. The deal was my freedom for yours. If you do not hold up your end of the bargain, neither shall I. If you’d prefer a life without a harpy over your shoulder at every turn, boxing in your mistresses’ ears as well as your own, then I suggest you let me do as I please.”
“I don’t like the idea,” the prince asserted.
“And I don’t care. We are equals here, Prince Hyungwon, as you wished, and I shall never let you forget it.”
“I’m learning that,” he said bitterly.
Naran grinned. Maybe her mother had been right after all. She was a master usurper when she needed to be.
Hyungwon cleared his throat and brought her attention back to the discussion at hand. “And what of our own efforts to continue the Chae family line?”
The tone shifted at once. Instead of the spotlight being on the prince, it now illuminated her, and the princess squirmed in her seat. If last night had taught her anything, it was that while she might not have desired their marriage, that didn’t mean she couldn’t desire her husband. The feeling of his breath on her neck or his mouth on her breast had not diminished. Instead, the memory had spread and warmed, leaving her biting her lip at the most inopportune times.
“I won’t begrudge you at my doorstep, my prince. It is expected of us, and, frankly…” Naran petered off. Her surge of memories was loosening her tongue in ways that only a fine rice wine could.
“And?”
“And I didn’t hate the night we spent together.”
Hyungwon exhaled softly. It was small, but it made her throat tighten.
“All that practice with your maidens paid off, to be sure.” Naran was being crass now and perhaps even a little unpleasant. There was no good reason for it, but Hyungwon didn’t seem to mind. His eyes were strangely bright even as they darkened, and their edges sharpened thanks to the hint of a smirk that vanished a second later.
“As long as you don’t resent that part of our marriage, too. Shall I visit you tonight?”
Naran blinked, absolutely stunned. “So soon?”
“I think…” he fumbled though his eyes betrayed the well of confidence he still felt at her admission. “I think it is still expected of us this close to the wedding.”
It was a perfectly reasonable answer, yet the princess felt a flare of heat between her legs.
“If you think we must, then…”
Hyungwon leaned across the table, and for a second, Naran thought he might renew his attempts to kiss her. He smelled of jasmine tea and fresh lemon, and it made her thirsty. She was breathing too fast and too loudly for it to go unnoticed, but try as she might, the princess couldn’t calm it.
Hyungwon nodded almost slowly, his gaze unwavering from hers. “I shall visit your chambers before midnight then. Please leave a candle burning for me.”
“Afraid you’ll trip, sire?” Naran laughed to dislodge the lump in her throat, but his eyes were very serious as he watched her.
“I should like to see you, Naran.”
Tumblr media
The rest of the day, the princess chewed her nails. She knew her mother wanted to whack her with the ivory of her fan for indulging in her anxiety like this, but since much of the rest of the day was spent in the company of the royal ladies, there wasn’t much Queen Jigme could do without calling more attention to her daughter’s unladylike habits.
Even as the women made plans for a special excursion to a silk festival in the city, Hyungwon’s words, as much as his eyes, haunted the crown princess.
I should like to see you…
Naran…
It wasn’t just the implication that the prince liked the sight of her open-mouthed and sweaty during their coupling. It was her name. Excepting the day he had tried to win his wager to be informal with his then-fiancée, Hyungwon had not said her name, just as she hadn’t said his without his title, because the intimacy had felt unreasonable for a pair of reluctant spouses. Keeping things professional felt like the only sensible solution for their arrangement. The more familiarity they had with one another, the more expectations might come with it. Yet, the prince had muddied the waters now. Naran had never felt so confused.
“Sister, you’re breathing weirdly,” Saran observed as she bumped their knees under the table.
It was enough to shake Naran back to her senses, and with the same clear-minded focus she had used back when she was hunting, she powered through the day with a reasonable impersonation of a functioning royal.
By the time dinner rolled around, all things considered, the party was rather lively with both royal families in attendance. The emperor had indulged in a few glasses of soju as, shockingly, had the empress, and Naran found they were much more agreeable when they weren’t formally on duty. So, too, were her parents enjoying themselves. Even though mere months ago the two nations had been on the secret precipice of war, they laughed as though they were old friends, especially the khan, who was always predisposed to enjoying himself in excess. Alcohol led to singing and singing led to bawdy joke telling, which had the red-faced empress scolding the men and the queen shooing the youngest princess out of the dining hall. With all the chaos, Naran had lowered her guard.
Beside her, the prince seemed to be enjoying himself, too. Naran hadn’t had many occasions to indulge in his laugh, but, in spite of his deep voice, it had a jubilance to it, almost kid-like, and it was infectious. Once, after the emperor had stuttered over a tongue twister, Hyungwon’s hand had fallen to her knee as the prince came down from his laughing fit. After that, it was rather difficult for the princess to laugh again. The claws of desire had sunken into her, and it impossible to focus much on anything else.
Which was how she found herself stiff as a board on her mattress, staring up at a shadowy ceiling and wondering if she would ever hear the promised knock at her door. After the highs and lows of her day, the princess was wound tight as a thread and looking for any excuse to fray. There was no clock in her room, so Naran felt like she’d been laying that way for hours, her sheet all the way to her nose as her hands clutched the fabric. Beside her bed, the only time-telling device she had, her candle, was dwindling with every wax drip.
How dare he suggest such things if he had no intention of upholding his end of them, she swore to herself. To make a lady wait like an obedient fool when—
Naran’s rant ceased as a soft double rap on her door reverberated in her chest.
“It’s open,” she called quietly.
The door swung open. Silhouetted in the frame was the lithe figure of her husband. From the opposite end of the room, the candlelight struggled just to illuminate his eyes as he searched the shadows.
“Did I wake you?” Hyungwon asked.
“No.”
From the way he sucked in a deep breath, Naran knew her answer had exposed her.
“This is okay with you, right?” he pressed.
“It’s our job, my lord.”
His eyes drifted to his slippered feet. “I suppose that’s true.”
“Come in then,” she insisted.
Hyungwon shuffled in, closing the door behind him with both hands to mute any sound. Something about it made their contractual obligation feel much more illicit, and her muscles constricted with anticipation beneath the sheets.
“What time is it?” Naran asked.
“Not sure,” he confessed. “Hansol just went to bed.”
The princess was stunned. That meant she’d only been laying in her bed for likely less than an hour. It was still well before his promised midnight visit, so why had time passed so slowly? Was all of it an illusion or was she dreaming?
“Oh,” was the best response she could manage.
Hyungwon lingered at the foot of her bed. His eyes played about her room, taking in everything but her, it seemed. He wore a robe over his nightshirt, but still, a long sliver of skin winked between the slash in the fabric at the neckline. Naran knew she was staring, but she wasn’t sure what else to do. It was the first time a man had ever stolen into her chambers, let alone one who looked like Prince Hyungwon.
He forked a hand through his hair, and it flung back like the grasses in a stiff steppe breeze. Naran licked her lips.
“I suppose I should—” he fumbled as he looked to the empty space beside her.
The princess let out a shaky breath. “I suppose you should…”
Hyungwon moved to the bedside and shed his robe. The moment wouldn’t have been nearly as tense as it felt if he didn’t trap her gaze for the display. Something about the way he shrugged so the garment simply gave way spread Naran’s thighs of their own accord. He sat down with his back to her as he took off his slippers. Even Naran could admit to herself that the breadth of his shoulders had always stirred something within her, but as he hunched over, the thin fabric of the shirt pulled taut at the mercy of his muscles, and she had to resist the urge to touch him.
At last ready for bed, Hyungwon lifted the covers and sighed. “It’s so warm under here.”
“They don’t warm your bed for you, sire? You ought to speak to your staff, I think.”
“Not like this,” the prince murmured. His voice was luscious like pooling honey. “This is the kind of warmth that sinks into you and warms you from the inside. And the smell…”
A flash of insecurity blazed through Naran until Hyungwon took a deep breath, his nose in the sheets.
“It smells like you.”
“Is that an accusation?” she said tersely.
“Not at all. It’s… enticing. Like tea and—” This time, when the prince took in a breath, he was closer to her shoulder, his head on her pillow. “Something pretty and flowery.”
Naran couldn’t move. Whenever he talked this low, her limbs grew as heavy as her eyelids.
“It’s iris,” she murmured, her tongue drunk and slow. “They put it in the bathwater.”
If she turned her head now, their lips might touch, so the princess stared at the ceiling.
“Tea and iris,” Hyungwon echoed. He had eased close enough now that her body tipped toward him as the mattress dipped beside her. “There’s something else, too. I recognize it though.”
He kissed just below her ear, and Naran’s eyes fluttered shut.
“From last night,” he continued.
Another kiss, this one under her jaw.
“The smell of you…”
Hyungwon sounded like he was purring at first, but as his hand slithered under the sheet at Naran’s waist to grab fistfuls of her nightgown to raise it up her legs, it deepened to a growl. His fingers brushed the bare skin of her inner thigh, and she gasped and squeezed his hand inadvertently between them.
“…here.”
Naran’s face swiveled to him then, her pupils blown out by more than just the darkness.
Hyungwon was waiting for her. Their breath collided hot and ragged, making her a little lightheaded. With the smallest tilt up of his chin, his nose brushed hers, and Naran let out a tiny whimper. With absolute horror, she realized that, for a split second, she was overwhelmed by the compulsion to press her lips to his.
Quickly, the princess juked away to her bedside table where the candle flickered, and she blew it out, plunging them into blissful darkness.
“Didn’t I ask you to leave the candle?” the prince admonished, and in the ebony of night, she could actually feel the sharp bite of his annoyance.
“You did.”
“Yet you blew it out anyway.”
“Yes.”
Hyungwon huffed and reached over her for a match on the table. He lit the wick again only for Naran to blow it out once more. Even the brief flash of his beautiful face in the soft light was too uncomfortable for their tenuous arrangement.
“I’d prefer the darkness,” she insisted. An embarrassing quaver warped her voice, and Naran knew that the candle would only amplify its power. “You had the light last night.”
Hyungwon sighed.
To distract him, she traced her nails up his arm to his shoulder and slipped them beneath his neckline to stroke his bare skin.
“I can feel you better this way, my prince,” she promised.
At least that was true. Last night, Naran had not had the presence of mind to explore more of the prince’s body than was required for the consummation, but the perfect excuse had presented itself now.
Hyungwon’s skin was something special. Of course, as a royal, he was pampered unlike anyone else in the empire, but even then, there was something more to it. He was without blemish. No calluses or scars dared to mar the silken expanse of skin. Beneath the superficial softness was a firmness, too, a barely contained strength that flexed with the gentle exploration of her nails. It was mesmerizing.
Naran held her husband’s wrist then and moved it to her covered breast. The pucker of her nipple was unmistakable beneath the sheets, and his fingers pinched the little bud automatically.
“Can you feel me better, too?” she asked with a hitch in her breath.
He nodded, his head bumping against hers on the pillow. “I want to feel more of you.”
Hyungwon moved his hand back under the sheet to her thigh again and slipped beneath the hem of her nightgown. His fingers danced over her hip bones, up the breadth of her stomach, and along her ribs until they fondled her breast at last. He kneaded her softness there before he tugged on her nipple just hard enough to make her yelp pitifully.
“Mm,” he said, his lips at her shoulder now, “I can hear you better, too. You make such lovely noises for me.”
For him? Naran echoed in her mind. She would make these sounds for anyone who made her feel this good, wouldn’t she?
Wouldn’t she?
Her hand groped under the sheets, too, and easily found his hardening length. Hyungwon was nearly to full mast for her, and just a few strokes over his shirt brought him to desperation.
“I have to be inside you,” he panted in her ear.
“Yes, hurry.”
This time, as Hyungwon propped up onto his arms, Naran didn’t argue with the position and simply spread her legs. He tossed the covers back, a torrent of heat and scent flooding the room. The princess felt a chill as the night air bombarded her damp lower lips, but it was only a moment before her husband glided between her thighs. He pushed up and back on one of her legs to tilt her core up for him so he could position his tip at her entrance.
The princess put her hand on his shoulder to hold him back, and through the darkness, she caught his panicked eyes as he waited.
“For the throne,” she clarified.
Hyungwon nodded. “For the throne.”
With that, the prince pushed inside her, and they shared a gasp. Naran grasped his shoulders as he plumbed deeper into her walls. Words—even sounds—failed her.
When she didn’t say anything, he froze. “Are you okay?”
“More than. Please move.”
Slowly, Hyungwon withdrew to his tip and slid back in to his hilt. Naran tried to swallow her moan, but she couldn’t. It poured out of her with reckless abandon, and he was only too happy to repeat the motion for an even more pathetic cry from her. He added a hand now to curl around the back of her neck while his thumb found a home just under her chin, his fingers gripping firmly as he rocked into the cradle of her hips. That wicked thumb tugged on her bottom lip now as moan after moan welled up from her chest.
“Look at me, princess,” he ordered.
Her eyes effortlessly found his in the dark.
Hyungwon kept his thrusts measured but emphatic as he looked down at her. Naran couldn’t tear her eyes away.
He grunted, plowing in extra hard for a moment so her breasts bounced beneath her bunched up nightgown, and, instinctually, her leg hooked around the small of his back. The prince let out a sigh and drove in fiercer so she would hold on tighter. The friction felt wonderful, and every time his sex crashed into hers, little fireworks of pleasure ignited at her apex.
“You feel so good,” he murmured.
“So do you,” Naran agreed though she immediately wished she hadn’t.
Hyungwon had been in many bed chambers; he would have said the same things in all of them. It wasn’t a good idea to play into even a short-lived fantasy when this was merely a transaction for her own freedom. But he did feel good. Too good. Better than the other men she’d been with, and she hated that she knew that with such certainty.
The hand at the back of her neck released, and for a moment, that weightless feeling of being fully possessed by Hyungwon lightened, but it came back more forcefully than ever seconds later. This time when he gripped her chin and stared down at her, Naran sensed a struggle behind his eyes. She wasn’t sure why, but it was forgotten the next moment as he turned her face away from him so her cheek presented itself.
She felt his lips about her ear now, kissing and sampling everywhere from the shell to the lobe to the virgin skin behind it. Since no one had ever kissed her there before, she thought it was a little strange until his tongue flicked at the back of her lobe to curl it into his mouth. He held this untouched part of her between his teeth before he released a hot and raspy exhale and then suckled it gently. The sensation was overwhelming.
“You taste as good as you smell,” he mumbled before sucking again at her lobe.
“Stop talking, please,” she whimpered, and Hyungwon pulled back with a half-grin on his swollen lips.
“Why?”
“I— I—” Naran struggled to form a lie or distraction or really any words as he pistoned ceaselessly into her, but it only forced out the truth. “I like it too much!”
As the smile reached his cheeks, Hyungwon slowed his strokes back to something far more intimate. Fingers still at her chin, he turned her back to him. Naran wanted to look away. She wanted to close her eyes, but his gaze commanded hers.
“You like it when I tell you how beautiful you are beneath me?”
“Yes…” she whined.
“And how hard you make me?”
“Yes, yes, yes!”
“And how you take me better than anyone ever has?”
“Please stop…”
Instantly, Hyungwon did as she asked, but it only sent a wave of panic through the princess. She clutched at his forearms as she stared feverishly up at him. “What are you doing!”
“I stopped as my lady requested.”
“Don’t stop! Don’t stop!”
“You didn’t mean it?” he prodded, but Naran knew from his wicked tone that he was just toying with her.
“No!”
“Why?”
Hyungwon’s other hand settled on her thigh, where his thumb stroked the secret skin there in a way that had Naran melting into the pillows as her eyes fluttered shut to better savor the tenderness. Her walls quivered around him, begging even though she fought the urge to voice it.
His voice was extra deep and textured like midnight as the prince said, “Tell me why I should keep going.”
“Because I want you to,” Naran said breathily. “Because I need you to.”
His eyes closed. Instead of just his thumb, his whole hand caressed her thigh now. “You want me?”
“I want you, my prince. Please!”
His fingers groped her yielding flesh, and Naran whimpered. Something bumped against her forehead, and when she opened her eyes, she realized it was his forehead pressed to hers. His nose brushed alongside hers, too, as his lips hung a hair's breadth away. Hyungwon upheld her boundary and did not kiss her, but it was taking every last bit of her willpower to stop herself from crossing her own line.
At last, he withdrew to the head of his cock before gliding back in. Naran cried out and flung her arms around his neck to wind her fingers in the long curtain of black hair at his nape.
“Is this what you wanted?” Hyungwon asked.
His strokes were so measured, so fulfilling, that the princess could only breathe when he pulled out, and the moment he pushed back in, she forgot the air. She couldn’t answer. She just nodded dumbly as she tugged on his hair as much to anchor herself to reality as anything else.
“Yes, just like that,” Naran whispered at last.
“Do you like it when I’m deep or when I’m fast?”
Hyungwon’s words muddied her mind, like a cocktail freshly stirred. She was dizzy. She was drunk.
“I like it all with you.”
“With me,” echoed Hyungwon.
He clutched her breast and buried himself in her suddenly, his hips jerking between her thighs. He let out a high note that bottomed out into a long, low groan before he collapsed on top of Naran in a heaving mess.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” he said over and over. “I was overcome.”
Hyungwon kissed her clavicle as his fingers toyed idly with her nipple. Beneath him, Naran laid hovering somewhere between proud and disappointed. The part of her that relished her husband’s desire for her body preened at how quickly he’d succumbed, but her own desire had been accelerating only to have the reins jerked to a full stop. Last time, that had been her decision, but she didn’t think she had the presence of mind to do it again in the face of such ecstasy.
Still, Naran didn’t fight it when her arms wrapped around his heaving shoulders though she did manage to tame her urge to pet his head. They laid like that for a moment as he recovered, every twitch of his manhood keenly felt in her throbbing walls.
Gradually, Hyungwon pressed back onto his knees, still wrapped up in her core for now, and studied his wife’s wrecked form. His hand trailed from her breast to her core, where his deft fingers alighted across her most sensitive skin. Naran shuddered at the contact, and his fingertips skimmed to where he was still joined to her. He traced their intimate connection, grazing her parted lips with his knuckle.
“What are you doing?” she asked warily.
Hyungwon’s attention remained focused at their coupling as he answered, “I thought you’d like a release, too.”
“Isn’t this— Isn’t this just about future heirs?”
“It doesn’t have to be. Do you want me to stop?”
His thumb caressed the pink pearl between her legs, and the princess sucked in a sharp breath through gritted teeth. He dared to repeat the motion with focused intention this time, but with the monstrous addition of eye contact.
“You can keep going,” she said, painfully aware of how shy she sounded. That, in and of itself, was humiliating.
Naran wasn’t shy. Ever. If anything, she was aloof or untouchable. But with Hyungwon’s thumb on her aching hill and his shaft still in her core, she felt small and pathetic and very, very needy.
“Is this where you like it best?” he asked, rubbing lightly over the tight blossom of nerves.
“Right there, yes…”
Hyungwon focused his ministrations there, finding a rhythm that had Naran’s legs trembling and her walls seizing frantically around him. He hummed, half in bliss, half in wonder. The pressure mounted in the pit of her belly as he worked her until, suddenly, he stopped. Her eyes flew open on the verge of madness only to find him licking his thumb, and then it was right back, moving faster than ever.
“I can’t—” she whined. “I can’t take it.”
“Yes, you can,” he assured.
“No, I’m going to— Oh, god, I—”
Naran came up off the bed as the tension in her body snapped. Her teeth ground and her fingers clawed at the mattress while a guttural cry tore from her soul. She had never felt anything like its power before, not alone, not with someone else. A series of incredulous gasps bubbled up from within her, bordering on inhuman. Hyungwon watched her, slack-jawed.
“I felt all of that,” he confessed.
Naran couldn’t really see him through her glassy eyes. She just moaned pitifully.
“And I’m sorry,” he said, though, from the rough edges of his voice, he was anything but.
At last, she found language enough to ask, “Why?”
“I’m hard again.”
Not that Naran could mistake that with the way he had swelled within her walls.
Hyungwon’s cheeks flushed as he looked down at her, his long hair in his eyes. “Can you handle it again?”
“It’s—” Naran chose her words as carefully as she could manage with the whole room spinning. “It’s my job, isn’t it?”
The prince slid his hand along her body to cup her cheek at last. “No, it isn’t. I want you to want it as much as I do. If I’m too much, you must tell me to stop.”
Damn Hyungwon and the way he could bend sound into a feather caressing her skin. Naran felt like she was floating. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
“Again, my prince. I can take it.”
Hyungwon muttered something that she thought sounded almost like a thank you before he hitched her leg high again, and when she didn’t protest, he risked moving it to his shoulder. He looked down at her with wide eyes. “Okay?”
“Move and we’ll see,” she said.
The prince thrust into her deeper than she’d ever had him. Naran rose beneath him, drawn by magnetic pleasure she had never experienced before. Her hands fisted the pillow as her muscles tensed. A delicate cry issued from her throat while her eyes rolled back.
“Yes… There…” she whimpered. “So good.”
“So good,” echoed the prince.
He stoked her fire like that for several more strokes, each one more decadent than the last, until impatience got the better of him, and he quickened his pace. Elegant fingers wrapped around her ankle at his shoulder as he held her through each stride.
Naran could barely fill her lungs with breath, she was so full of her husband. Every insertion drove her rationality—and her humanity—from her until she was a coil of mindless nerves and untamed energy. If she’d had any sense left, she would have cringed at the lurid symphony between her thighs, but it was hard to hear over the roar of blood in her ears.
“I can’t—” Hyungwon was panting now in between his grunts as his strokes grew faster and sloppier. “Darling, I can’t hold it.”
Darling.
Darling.
Darling.
Why was that the one thing Naran could make out?
“You’re pulling me in,” he whined.
And just like that, Hyungwon crumpled on top of her with a strangled cry and a few erratic thrusts into her heat. Her walls were overflowing with his spend, both uncomfortable and strangely arousing. She could feel it seeping from her core onto her sheets, but she didn’t care. She didn’t care about anything but the stars dancing behind her eyes.
Together, they groaned as Hyungwon pulled out, and his arousal threatened to soak the mattress. Naran quickly sealed her thighs and rolled with her back to him so he couldn’t see the way she gnawed her lip.
“Forgive me,” he managed between puffs of breath. “That's never happened before.”
“What hasn't?”
“I've never needed to release back-to-back like that. I've made such a mess, but I don’t think I can move my legs to fix it.”
Naran laughed incredulously. “You’re so lazy.”
“I’m serious.”
As flattering as the prince might have intended that to be, it also set precedents the princess dreaded.
She took in a long, stiff breath to steady her heart before she said, “I don’t think it’s a good idea to linger much longer, your highness.”
“Your highness? Only moments ago, it was ‘my prince.’”
“The moment has passed,” she said firmly. It was crueler than intended, but Hyungwon did have a tendency to dawdle, especially when sleepy, and Naran really couldn’t bear another morning waking up to his face. The staff had enough to gossip about as it was.
Feeling guilty, the princess added, “I’d like to wash up anyway, and then I shall lay back down as Court regulations mandate.”
“Oh. Of course. I should as well.” Slowly, Hyungwon swiveled his legs over the side of the bed, and using the wall for support, he stood up. Once he’d steadied himself, he turned back to bow lightly to her though it didn’t quite hide his solemn face. “Thank you for letting me intrude, my lady.”
“It was no trouble at all,” Naran said as she rose on shaky legs of her own. She offered a bow back, and suddenly, they were in a strange sort of stalemate.
Hyungwon stood there for a long moment. Neither said anything nor could they look each other in the eye. Eventually, the awkwardness got the better of the prince, and he said in a rush, “I’ll give you your space. Good night, Princess.”
“Good night, my lord.”
As soon as the door closed, Naran’s legs gave out.

Support anon here 💪 I cannot support pink hair Woozi. My ult Kihyun had pink hair for the Jealousy era and it was perfection. When the era ended he said he couldn't stand it because his roots showed too quickly and he would never go back and I have been living under that curse ever since. I don't want you to live with the same torment. Is it better to have loved and lost PinKihyun, than to never have loved at all? No. 😞 No it is not 😭
support anon noooo 😭 woozi is lazy which is one of the reasons he's kept his hair long but i feel like platinum is so much upkeep already so why not add in the pink again too? but i do not want to live with torment so we will simply have to see what happens 😞
ps i'm sure you miss kihyun more than i do but omgggg i miss him and honey and hyungwon and minhyuk so bad 😩

Saying Hyungwon was stressed was an understatement. He was informed earlier that day that the dating ban was lifted, and he was excited, but as the day went on his became more and more worried. It was a little after ten o’clock at night and Hyungwon kept staring at his phone. On the screen your name was clear as day with a broken heart next to it, the small blue camera icon seemed to tease him, and he debated with himself if he should reach out to you or not.
“Hey, hyung!” Changkyun’s sudden appearance made Hyungwon jump as his finger tapped the call button. Hearing the ringing, Changkyun smiled. “I’ll came back when you’re done your call.” Hyungwon felt the blood drain from his face as he watched the black screen in his hand. Quickly, Hyungwon hung up and sighed. Maybe he would call you tomorrow when it wasn’t nearing eleven at night. The phone in his hand started to beep and Hyungwon’s eyes widened as he saw your name flashing for a FaceTime.
Hyungwon checked over his shoulder to make sure no one was around before he slapped a board expression onto his face and answered the call. The screen went from black to brightly lit up in purples and blues. You were smiling softly with your hair tucked underneath a colorful hair wrap. Hyungwon raised an eyebrow, “Did I catch you at a bad time?” You shook your head and set your phone down on the dresser. “Nope, I just got home from a date.” Hyungwon clicked his tongue at your words, and you smirked. “Jealous?” Hyungwon ignored your question and leaned back in his chair, admiring you in silence as you started to remove your jewlery and makeup.
“You still look beautiful, Y/N…” You unwrapped your hair and Hyungwon licked his lips, he loved it when you twisted your hair. “Did you miss me?” You hummed in thought as you shook out your hair and grabbed your phone, jumping onto your bed. “How could I? You are damn near everywhere I go.” Hyungwon’s face flushed at your words. “So…why are you calling me? Didn’t want to make me wait any longer?” Hyungwon sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “The dating ban has been lifted…” “And?” Hyungwon raised an eyebrow and pressed his lips into a tight line as you propped your phone up on your pillows.
You pulled away from the phone and slipped your jacket off before you tossed it onto the floor. You moved about your room, grabbing pajamas before you changed out of sight of the camera. You came back to your bed and Hyungwon groaned seeing the tanned skin of your legs. The shorts you wore didn’t leave much to his imagination. You smiled and grabbed your phone, “Am I supposed to jump for joy?” “Well…” Hyungwon shrugged his shoulders. “I thought maybe you would want to go out with me, tomorrow?”
“Are you asking me out?” Hyungwon licked his lips with a sigh. “Y/N will you go out with me tomorrow?”

It had been a long day and Jooheon wanted to drink. The concert was over, and he just wanted to relax with a nice cold beer. Throwing a hat on to hide his face better, Jooheon left his room and headed to Changkyun’s. The younger of the two declined the offer for a drink and Jooheon went down to the bar by himself. One beer wouldn’t hurt…he deserved a break.
As Jooheon sat by himself, he played a game on his phone and sipped at his drink, enjoying the alone time to just breath. The hotel bar was hardly filled with bodies, most people eating a late dinner or having a night cap with a few coworkers. Jooheon heard the sound of heels clicking on the tile floor and when someone wolf whistled his head snapped up. He narrowed his eyes at a group of older man as they started to call for someone and before he could open his mouth to comment, the heels backtracked to the table of men.
Jooheon watched in awe as a woman with brown skin walked over to the table, grabbed one of the men’s beers and poured it into the closest one’s lap. “Thought you might want to cool down since you asked so nicely.” The voice echoed in Jooheon’s ear like an alarm and before he could understand why, his body was moving on its own. The older man started to shout at the woman and by the time Jooheon reached the table some of the bar staff was there too. The man demanded that the woman pay for his dry cleaning and be kicked out. Jooheon spoke up beside the woman, “I think you should keep your thoughts to yourself. I’m sure everyone here heard the way you talked to her!”
The older men were outraged, but the hotel staff easily kicked them out and apologized to the woman; offering to give her free drinks for the rest of her stay. Jooheon wanted to make sure that the woman was okay and once everything was said and done, he tapped the woman on her shoulder as he cleared his throat. When the woman turned around, Jooheon’s eyes widened. “Y/N?”
“Hey, Jooheon…” You smiled softly at your old friend, and he smiled wide as he offered you a seat at his table. The two of you chatted about old times and Jooheon filled you in on his new lifestyle as an idol. “Damn, I really missed you, Y/N.” Jooheon reached his hand out, laying it flat on the table and you raised an eyebrow. “Did you wait for me?” He found himself asking out loud and you placed your hand in his. “If that’s your way of asking if I’m single, then yes.” Jooheon’s eyes lit up at your words and he licked his lips as he wrapped his fingers around yours.
“Can I take you out tomorrow night?”

Ah, freedom…he forgot how good it felt to be able to use his phone without having to worry about his manger checking who he was talking to. He still remembered your number by heart and dialed it with shaky hands. Changkyun was a bundle of nerves and he chewed on his lower lip as the phone rang. It went to voice mail, and he frowned when he heard someone else’s voice and name ring in his ear. He hung up and sighed, guess you changed your number…
Changkyun felt his chest tighten and he tried to swallow the lump that suddenly swelled in his throat. Had he lost you for good? Sending a silently prayer to whoever would listen, he clicked on the Instagram app and typed in your name…nothing came up. He thought about the nicknames you had in your family and tried those, none of them worked. Changkyun felt like crying…were you doing, okay? Did you miss him as much as he missed you? He kept an old photo of the two of you in his wallet, the edges faded and creased from how often he would hold it.
A single name popped into his mind right before he closed the app. It wasn’t a very well-known nickname; it was something that he called you in the late hours of night or whispered softly over the phone as he answered your wake-up call. His eyes widened when one single account showed and there your smiling face was in the profile picture. He choked on a breath he didn’t realize he had been holding. He had found you…finally. Changkyun clicked on your profile, and he memorized every photo that you posted, making sure to keep his fingers out of the way ‘cause god forbid he liked one of your photos. He read over the quotes and song lyrics you posted under your pictures; a smile pulled at his lips as he recognized some of Monsta X’s songs. Pulling his legs closer to his chest, Changkyun gets comfortable and continues to check out your profile.
There was a picture from last year where you were at the beach with yours and Changkyun’s family. Another of you hugging yours and his father…it gave Changkyun hope. Your first ever post was a picture of you holding pinkies with someone and Changkyun felt his eyes burn as he read over the post ‘Pinkie promise I’ll always be here’. Taking a deep breath, Changkyun scrolled up to the top of your page and clicked on the message button. He sucked his bottom lip between his teeth and stared at the screen on his phone through blurred sight. Was dming you the right thing to do? Would you even want to talk to him? He shook his head and typed out a simple message, sure to leave the ball in your court in case you wanted nothing to do with him anymore.

|| Ch. 31: The Prince’s Day ||
A/N: I was missing Jin when I wrote this chapter 🥺
Jungkook has spent the majority of his life masking emotions to the point of not even bothering to identify them anymore. He had to remain strong and not let those feelings show, so what difference did it make if it were anger or heartbreak or loneliness. They all manifested in him the same way, and typically only ever came out at rare times in the form of anger. Just like his dad.
He hates it. No matter what, he finds himself doing things that he picked up from his father, whether he wanted to or not. He thought it would be easy to simply catch himself and stop the behaviors, but he didn’t come prepared for the next challenge. It’s hard to open up about how he feels if he doesn’t even know how he feels.
Whatever he feels continues to rip him to shreds from the inside and he doesn’t know how to stop it. No matter what he does, it remains. He thought once Luna had converted he wouldn’t have to worry about her so much anymore. He knew that was the best for her and she was no longer risking her life each day just for existing.
When she’s near him, his heart races. When she’s not near him, his heart races. There isn’t a single relationship that he’s ever been in that made him feel this way. He wondered if he were falling in love, but he knows what love feels like. Despite his father being an emotionless robot, his mother still showed him what love is. He loves his mother. He loves his brothers. His love for them has never made him feel like this. He doesn’t know what he’s feeling now, but it’s starting to scare him.
He couldn’t bring himself to take Luna to his mom’s house. Instead he ordered them food from the palace kitchen to be delivered to his room and he turned on a movie for them to watch while he held her close the entire time.
He didn’t pay any attention to the movie. He had seen it a million times already so he didn’t care to keep his eyes glued to the tv. His focus was on Luna. The way she couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that they have movies and even tv, though she’s been here long enough to be used to it by now, is endearing to him. The way she asks him questions every few minutes to ask him if something in the movie is normal in “vampire world” amuses him. The way she rests her head on his shoulder in the middle on the movie warms him.
The King is no longer willing to give any exceptions when it comes to any of the boys being near Hyungwon. Jin was afraid to do this because he knows how close his father is to Minseok, but he finally came clean about Jungkook and Luna. He confessed to everything that had happened from the moment he gave Jungkook the permission to begin investigating on earth. It killed him to do it, but at this point the guilt and pressure was wearing him down. The King was upset. Almost livid when he learned that Jungkook brought Luna to the kingdom before she was fully converted. Jin took responsibility for it all. He pled to his dad that he thought it would be ok since she was still half vampire and this was all for the safety of the kingdom.
Jin didn’t have to take the blame for everything. Jungkook was doing things on his own for the most part, and usually he doesn’t do anything that would get him in any major trouble. Jin isn’t lost on how much power he has, even with his own father. Saying that Jungkook was only acting on his orders would get him in far less trouble than if he said Jungkook were acting alone.
Again, he doesn’t have to do any of this. But he loves Jungkook. He loves all of his brothers. He’s always playing tricks on them and giving them a hard time just for fun, but he’d do anything for them all. Even if that means getting a lengthy lecture from his dad on carelessness and responsibility.
King Hojin IV is a very stern man when he needs to be, but he’s also a compassionate and understanding king. He can understand why the boys took on this operation. He can understand Jungkook being overtaken by his feelings for Luna. He can even understand why his son is standing before him bending the truth to save his friends. Jin is just a carbon copy of him when he was that age. He’s done it all before, twisting his stories just enough to decrease the amount of trouble he and his friends would get into. He’s maintaining a straight face now so that Jin understands how serious he is. However, deep down he can’t help but feel a little proud of how much of himself he sees in his youngest son.
No one could be more proud than Jungkook though. He’s proud and incredibly grateful for Jin taking the fall for everything. So much so that he wakes bright and early the next morning to make Jin breakfast. Luna thinks it may be a bit much, but she humors him anyway. She watches from the side as he bounces from place to place in the palace kitchen to make a full meal of kimchi pancakes, pork belly, and egg rolls. After breakfast Jungkook gives Jin a massage, plays a few games with him making sure Jin wins every round, and shares his stash of jellies in his room with his hyung.
Jin wasn’t looking for any type of payback for what he did, but he still relishes in his youngest spoiling him. Luna finds it all amusing. He told her before that he could get in a lot of trouble for bringing her here when she was still human, but she didn’t realize it was this serious. To her she feels Jungkook is acting as if Jin just saved his head from being chopped off.
At the end of the day Jin asks Jungkook to walk him back to his room. They leave Luna in Jungkook’s room and head out to the other side of the palace where Jin’s room is.
“So,” Jin says as they’re walking across the courtyard. “What’s all of this for? You’re not usually this nice, even when I save your ass from getting in trouble.”
“What are you saying?” Jungkook jokes. “I’m always nice.”
“Bullshit,” Jin laughs pushing him. “You’ve been extra goo-goo eyed lately, and I know I’m handsome and all, but I know it’s not because of me.”
“Whatever,” Jungkook chuckles trying to avoid the subject.
“You think she’s the one?”
“The one what?”
“Don’t be stupid, you know what I mean.” Jin nudges him again almost sending him into a nearby bench. “You’ve never gone so far above and beyond for anyone like this. She’s gotta be the one, right?”
“I don’t know what you’re taking about,” Jungkook says looking away.
“Fine, carry me back to my room then,” Jin says stopping in his tracks and standing in front of Jungkook.
“What? No, I’m not going to carry you.”
“Then admit it.”
“There’s nothing to admit.”
“Nothing to admit? No confession of feelings for your girlfriend?”
“Why are you pushing it?” Jungkook huffs getting embarrassed.
“Because you’re a mess. You’ve been a mess lately and it’s not going to get better until you’re honest with yourself.”
“I’m a mess? How?”
“How? Everyone sees it. Not to mention you’re never around. What am I supposed to do if I need protection and my shield isn’t even here?” Jin huffs playfully.
“You know how to fight, you’re fine,” Jungkook laughs.
“Isn’t it your job to protect me though? What kind of shield are you?”
Jin is keeping a straight face, but he and Jungkook both know that he’s not serious. Jin understands why he has a shield appointed to him, but he never cared to treat Jungkook as if he were his servant. Aside from age and the undeniable status difference, Jin likes to see himself as equal to everyone else.
One person who doesn’t quite see the humor in the situation is Minseok who noticed the guys passing by and decided to briefly tune in to their conversation. One of the worst things to him is hearing the Prince tell Jungkook he’s been a “mess” lately. Even worse is that it’s because of Luna. Jungkook’s inability to keep that part of him hidden is even more reason for Minseok to despise Luna. She’s trying to take his son, and he’s worked too hard to have his life and career derailed by the complications of a relationship.
Minseok continues watching as Jin and Jungkook make their way to the main palace where Jin’s room is located. Minseok isn’t sure if he wants to go find Luna who he knows is in Jungkook’s room, or if he should wait in the courtyard for Jungkook to come back. He may be able to break Luna down if no one else is around, but at the same time he’s been ready to go after Jungkook since he punched him the day before.
“Wait,” Jungkook says as they enter Jin’s massive room and lays his eyes on a basket full of candy that wasn’t there before. “Where did this come from?”
“What? I thought you knew I get deliveries every week,” Jin laughs. “I never run out of candy.”
“No! I didn’t know!” Jungkook fusses. “Why were you eating all of my candy then??”
“You offered,” Jin giggles. “I’m not going to say no.”
Jungkook pouts then snatches a bag of gummies out of the basket. He begins opening it and Jin jumps on his back to get him to drop it. Jungkook laughs knowing Jin isn’t strong enough to take him down, but Jin doesn’t fight with his strength, he fights with his mind. Or cheap tricks, which is the route he’s choosing now when he blows in Jungkook’s ear knowing how much it makes him cringe. Jungkook keeps his grip on the candy finally getting the bag open and throwing a few pieces in his mouth. Jin retaliates by blowing in his other ear until he throws the bag back at him.
“I’ll be back for more,” Jungkook grins with his mouth full.
“Do you want to die?” Jin threatens putting a few pieces in his mouth.
“Maybe,” Jungkook teases.
“Go back to your girlfriend before I hurt you.”
“Yes hyungnim highness sir,” Jungkook giggles. “Right away.”
Jin hits his shoulder then pushes him towards the door. Jungkook gives a sarcastic bow and steps out of the room laughing. Once he gets back to the courtyard outside he’s immediately trapped in a forcefield. He’s annoyed now but doesn’t try to move or fight because he already knows it’s his father.
“Are you just going to carry on without explaining anything to me?” Minseok growls approaching Jungkook from the shadows.
“There’s nothing to explain,” Jungkook says.
“There’s lots to explain! Why are you protecting the daughter of the Saakhan leader?”
“She’s not his daughter!” Jungkook defends.
“Then what is she? Why are you protecting her?”
“It’s none of your business!”
“It is my business!” Minseok roars. “You are my business! The safety of this kingdom is my business! And right now you’re protecting the daughter of the enemy! It is very much my business!”
“She’s not his fucking daughter,” Jungkook growls. “All you need to know is her name is Luna. She’s my girlfriend. And if you ever harm her in any way, I’ll make sure the ‘natural disaster’ takes you out this time.”
“Are you threatening me, Jungkook? Are you forgetting who made you?”
“I mean it,” Jungkook says breaking through Minseok’s forcefield. “If you so much as look at her the wrong way, you will never know peace for as long as you dare to live.”
Jungkook stares his father down almost breathing fire into his face. He’s never been more serious about something in his life. He still isn’t entirely sure what this is, but he knows he’d be willing to risk everything for Luna’s safety. He’s willing to do anything for Luna.
“I’ve had enough of your disrespect,” Minseok growls. “I’m not going to continue to allow you to disgrace this family any longer.”
“Disgrace the family?” Jungkook scoffs. “Mom left, hyung moved out, and you refuse to get your head out of your ass. There’s no family left to disgrace.”
“Look,” Minseok says attempting to soften his tone. “I know you’ve been upset since your mother left, I get it. But you can’t keep taking your rebellious behavior out on me.”
“You think I’m doing this because of you? I’ve been the happiest I’ve ever been with her, and you think it’s just to spite you?”
“Why would you throw everything away for her? All of your training to ascend as one of the best shields this kingdom has seen, and you’ve been letting it all slip away for some girl? You’re not even doing your job the way you should be!”
“Just because you couldn’t do both doesn’t mean I can’t. If anything she makes me stronger. She makes me feel like I can do anything.”
“Haven’t you said that before? It never changes, Jungkook, it’s going to end like it always does. There’s no use in you continuing to waste your time with these relationships.”
“What happens if I prove you wrong?” Jungkook says boldly.
“Is that what you’re trying to do? Make some kind of point because you never got over your mother leaving?”
“This has nothing to do with mom. Just because you can’t accept the fact that you fucked up, not her, doesn’t mean I’m out to prove a point to you.” He takes a step back in case he needs to get defensive. “All I want is for you to see that being in love and showing it won’t get in the way of being a shield.”
“Love?” Minseok says through his teeth. “You don’t even know what love is.”
“I know it’s something you know nothing about.”
“And you do? The other person you were with stabbed you in the back. Is that what you’re in to? Being lied to, cheated on, and made a fool of? That’s love?”
“Why’d you do it to mom?” Jungkook tightens his fists but refrains from sending his father to the ground. “Why’d you lie to her, cheat on her, and make a fool of her? Of this entire family?”
“I told you-“
“You told me lies! To this fucking day it’s been nothing but lies! You never cared about mom! You had the nerve to fuck around but you want to blame her for the family falling apart? Fuck you!”
“Jungkook,” Minseok says hiding the nervousness in his voice. He’ll never admit it, but he’s afraid of Jungkook. The last time Jungkook got angry about catching him cheating, Minseok was almost certain he’d die. The fire is rising in Jungkook, and regardless of how upset he is about Luna, he has no choice but to back down. “Please, get some rest. We’ll discuss this later.” He walks off hoping that was enough to keep Jungkook from causing any damage.
Jungkook wants to punch his father again, but seeing him back off makes him do the same. He stares him down another moment then turns to go back to his room. When he returns Luna can already tell something isn’t right.
“What’s wrong?” She asks when Jungkook enters the room then rests his back against the door after closing it.
So much is wrong. However, when he looks at her all is right. Nothing bothers him any more. She sits there with worried eyes waiting for his response. All he can do is stare back at her in silence.
Love.
He said it without thinking. He was just upset. But is it love? Is love the thing making him feel like he can’t breathe? Is love the thing that makes him want to carry her around with him at all times? Is love the thing that makes him want to risk any and everything for her? Is love the thing that has him happy and scared at the same time? The thing so strong that he can barely function when he thinks of her? The mysterious force that makes him willing to give up everything if she asked him to?
“Jungkook?” She repeats.
He can’t say a word. He has no words to say. He loves her. Everything about her. The way she calls him a demon and the way she purrs in her sleep. He loves how she fights him, then seeks him for protection when the bats fly by.
He hates that he loves her. He hates that it hurts him so much. He hates that for every moment of happiness he has with her, he has a moment of pain. He hates that this stupid fucking four letter word has filled him with so many different emotions that he doesn’t know what to do other than cry. He wants to cry so bad. His habit of transforming the moment tears start to fill his eyes hasn’t been broken. He runs and jumps on the bed with his four paws and nestles himself in her lap. She brings him so much comfort, but he doesn’t want her to see him cry.
“Can you tell me what’s wrong?” She asks softly running her fingers through his fur.
No. He thinks to himself.
I love you and I’m so fucking scared.

Thighs.
-pairing Jooheon x reader
feel good/ one shot/ sweet/ no label/ friends w benefits/ no smut/
“Man, your thighs are crazy” minhyuk said as he looks at Jooheon’s well formed thighs.
“Do you focus on your legs more recently?”
He added as he observes Jooheon, sitting down on the sofa of the studio, wearing a sports shorts that shows his toned legs.
“Oh, you noticed it” Jooheon smiles as he feels the results of his work outs.
“I focus more on my legs and back” he added as he looks down to check his thighs
“Does it look good?” Grinning, waiting for Minhyuk’s approval
Tumblr media
“Maaaan, it looks bigger” Minhyuk leans in as he tries to poke Jooheon’s thighs,
“that’s impressive… you guys need to stop going to the gym for reaaaal” shaking his head as he turns to Hyungwon to squeeze his shoulders.
“Hahaha i need to strengthen my legs” Jooheon laughs as he taps his legs. “Need to make these babies tougher”
“Excuse me” i said as I peeked at the door
“Oh! What are you doing here ” joo said with a surprised face as he stands up immediately to greet me and exit the door.
“Oh? Is that y/n?” Minhyuk turned to Kihyun , surprised
“She’s already back in korea?” Kihyun asked as he turns his chair to look at Minhyuk.
“Come on let’s greet her”
Minhyu and Kihyun went out of the room just to see Jooheon and me speaking at the hallway.
“Y/n!” Kihyun greeting me with a huge smile.
“You’re back!”
“Yup! Since last month! Sorry I wasn’t able to see you guys when I arrived, i got really busy”
“You’re always busy!” Minhyuk complained as he approaches to hug me.
“Im sorryyy i always tell you we’ll play but my schedule is a pain in the ass sometimes” I apologized as i hugged minhyuk back
“Wow, you look GOOD” minhyuk added ,looking at me from head to toe
“You mean i gained weight ” rolling my eyes to what he said.
“No! Seriously, it suits you, you look, sexier hahahaha”
“Can you say it more sarcastically please?” I complained
“Aaahh, its true, it suits you, western air surely hits different on you huh”
“Anyway” Jooheon interrupted
“Are you going now?”
“Ah yes, i only dropped by to give you the gift your sister requested . i dont want to hold up your work so…”
“You have plans later?”
“Ahhmm, nothing that i think of, no,”
“Come, you can stay” joo said as he reaches out his hand to pull me inside.
Entering the recording room, i see Hyungwon finalizing and editing Kihyun’s recording.
“Oh hello Hyungwon” I greeted him
“Oh! Hello!” He smiled softly as he reach out to give me a high five.
“How’s America” he asked looking at me from his computer chair.
“Ugh, its not bad but..” I stopped mid sentence after realizing that there is no seat available for me.
“Here” Jooheon said as he pulls my waist to sit me on his lap. Cheekily smiling as he position me on him.
“…not bad but, the weather is hell. Its so hot there i swear, i miss our weather here” i said as I continue speaking.
“Im heavy” I turned around to whisper at Jooheon
“Nah, light as a feather”
“I can stand-”
“Just shut up and sit” Joo shushed me as he puts his arms on my hands, squeezing them playfully.
Minyuk smirks as he quietly looks at Jooheon. Observing him as he hugs me while i sat on his lap.
“…soooo, that’s why you focus on your thighs more huh” he mouthed at Jooheon, looking him directly in the eye with a naughty smirk.
Jooheon blushes as he understands what minhyuk means.
“Shut up” mouthing back at minhyuk, his dimples all popped out from grinning, his face flushed and red.
A few moments…‘’
“All set, we’re finished” Hyungwon said as he waves around the clump of papers in his hand.
“You can all go now” thanking everyone as he exits the door.
I start to stand up, only for joo to pull me back.
“What” i said as i look back at him, irritated
“Wait up,”he whispered to me as he looks at the others exiting the door
“Why, what is it” i asked again
“Im hard, i cant stand up”
“What the hell are you saying!” I muttered under my breath as i slap his forearm.
“I got hard, you kept on grinding your thighs on me”
“I DID NOT”
“UGH God I missed your voice, uhh stop talking, you’re making it worst, its getting harder”
I feel my ears getting hot as i feel his hard member, Poking me as i try to adjust myself.
“Stop moving” he whispers as he holds on to my arms firmly, holding me onto my place, preventing me from moving.
“Seriously JOOHEON what the hell are YOU DOING, we need to go, they might think we’re doing something here.”
I said as i tried to stand up, only for him to pull me back once more, his arms gripping me harder than before, slamming me back to his lap..Resting his head on my back, holding onto my arms, he spoked:
“Just a few more minutes”
“I missed you y/n” he grunted as he tightens his arms around me. Putting both of his hands on top of mine.
“You always tell me you’re busy, I haven’t spent much time with you since you arrived ”
He sulks, airing his frustrations out to me.
“Can i come in” a voice appeared, followed by a knock.
“A-ah yes” I stuttered as I immediately stand up, removing Jooheon’s grasp on me.
“Sorry i left my cap here” Kihyun apologize as he shyly grabs his cap. “You can continue now” he adds as he exits the door.
“What the hell” i said blusing
“Im going out, you can stay if you want ill just wait outside” I hurriedly went out of the door as soon as kihyun exits the door.
“Oh you’re still here” Minhyuk said as he walks toward me.
“Ah yep just waiting for joo”
Jooheon came out of the door as soon as he heard Minhyuk’s voice, straighting his clothes, pulling his sweater down to hide his hard member.
“Hyung”
“You guys staying?” Minhyuk asked
“Ah no, we’re also going” gesturing the both of us as he fixes his cap. Calling me to come over with his hands. “Lets go” his hands still waiting for me to reach it.
“Oh I thought you guys already left” Hyungwon came, putting his bag on, fixing his mask.
He puts his arms over minhyuk, leaning on to him.
“Their going on a date” minhyuk teased, whispering to Hyungwon
“Wooow, finally” Hyungwon said as he smiles softly
“You guys need to date for real” minhyuk points at the both of us as he starts walking out of the door, bringing Hyungwon along
“Bye” Hyungwon waved
“Lets go?” Jooheon looks me in the eye as he reaches out to hold my hand. Putting both of our hands inside his sweater pocket.
Feeling his warm touch is so refreshing, not being able to see him for months is frustrating, Suffocating to say the least… His constant teasing, dirty text messages, sexy selfies, work out videos, it makes me want to go and run back to him. Triggering my hunger for him more and more as the days pass by.
We’re not dating, no, we’re more than friends, but less than lovers... occasionally tasting each other, satisfying our hunger, releasing our human desires.
“You want to eat?” He smiles, flashing his dimples at me, “my treat” he added proudly, “anywhere you like babe”
He places his arms around my neck, pulling my head in to whisper something…
“Then we’ll HAVE dessert later, my place or your place?” He whispers in his deep sultry voice as we walk towards his car.
“Ive been starving for months” he muttered under his breath as he looks at me straight in the eye, leaning in on me for a kiss, his warm lips intertwining onto mine as he opens the passenger door
“After you mam.”
“Later, I’ll SHOW YOU just how much i missed you” he smirks as he closes the door.
Hearing those words made my heart race, exciting me as i look forward to later. Just thinking about me tasting him again sends my mind into a mini frenzy. Wearing these thight Jeans really paid off..
Jooheon smiles at me as he starts driving. “I missed you so much”.

When He Back Hugs You ~ Monsta X Reaction
Shownu:
Your head shook as Hyunwoo appeared behind you, managing to grab onto you and pull you across as he noticed your bad mood continuing.
His hug from behind was tight as he made sure that you couldn’t go anywhere. “What’s going on? Are you alright?” He asked, resting his head on yours.
“I’m fine,” you bluntly replied, “there’s no need to worry about me.”
“You don’t sound alright though.”
A sigh came from you in response to just how well Hyunwoo knew you. “I’ve just struggled a bit with work, sleep, it’s just been a lot.”
“Why didn’t you tell me that?” Hyunwoo frowned, peering around to look at you, “I could help you out Y/N.”
Your head shook in reply, “I hate relying on others, I’ll be alright. I guess I just need a good sleep in me to try and give me some energy and get back on my feet again.”
“I agree, but I’m going to help you too.”
Minhyuk:
Your breath hitched as you felt a pair of hands suddenly arrive in your waist with Minhyuk tickling into you as he took a few steps closer towards you.
Your laughter was like magic for him, unable to stop himself sniggering. “What’s wrong?” He teased as you pleaded with Minhyuk to get off of you.
“I can’t breathe,” you roared, “stop tickling me Min.”
“Sorry, I just can’t help it.”
Once he stopped tickling, he pushed his arms through to hug you from behind. “You’re an idiot,” you sighed, driving your elbow back into his chest.
“I’m your idiot though,” Minhyuk smirked, knowing that as much as you messed with him, you loved how annoying he was deep down.
Your eyes rolled as Minhyuk squeezed around your frame tightly, “you’re lucky that you can be cute otherwise I’d have ended up kicking you out a long time ago.”
“I know, I’m just so irresistible.”
Kihyun:
A gasp came from you as Kihyun suddenly grabbed you from behind, beginning to sidestep around the living room with his chin resting against you.
Your smile was wide as he led you around the living room. “Dance with me,” he whispered into your ear, pressing several kisses against the crook of your neck.
“Ki,” you chuckled, “where has all this suddenly come from?”
“I’ve just missed you a lot.”
Your brows knitted together as Kihyun continued to sway you side to side. “You’ve seen me every day, how could you have missed me?”
“I’ve been so busy with work, I’ve seen you, but that’s it,” he explained, “I just want to do something with you again.”
Your smile widened as you began to understand exactly what Kihyun meant by what he said. “Maybe you should take some time off, then we’d have plenty of time together.”
“I think that’s a great idea for me to do.”
Hyungwon:
You tensed up as soon as you felt Hyungwon suddenly appearing behind you, keeping your eyes staring forwards to try and block him out.
His grip was strong though, trying his best to keep your attention. “I don’t want to fight anymore,” Hyungwon whispered into your eat after a few moments.”
“Me too,” you sighed, “but I’m still mad at you just so you know.”
“I know, and I’m really sorry.”
Your head nodded as Hyungwon peered past your shoulder to meet your eyes. “Just giving me a hug isn’t going to make this up to me.”
“I had a feeling that you’d say that,” Hyungwon laughed, “which is why whilst you’ve been up here, I’ve been downstairs cooking.”
You looked back in surprise, impressed as Hyungwon nodded back at you. “You must really know that you messed up to decide that you want to cook for me tonight.”
“That’s just how sorry I am about earlier.”
Jooheon:
Your smile was wide as you looked across to Jooheon, holding up your certificate for him to see as soon as you walked through the front door.
He rushed up from the sofa, picking you up form behind and twirling you around. “I always knew that you’d do it,” he proudly told you, placing you down.
“I passed,” you chuckled, “I didn’t think that I’d end up passing so easily.”
“I always knew that you’d do it.”
Your eyes glanced back to Jooheon and the proud smile that was on his face. “Thank you, I couldn’t have done this without you Joo.”
“That’s nonsense,” he quickly corrected, “you might not have trusted in yourself, but I had every faith in you to do this.”
You smiled appreciatively back to Jooheon, keeping your certificate held tightly in your hand. “I can’t believe I’ve done it, no more revising, and no more getting stressed either.”
“I, for one, am very glad about that part.”
I.M:
You were taken aback by a sudden figure resting against your shoulder, with Changkyun peering around as he came up to hug you from behind.
You could only chuckle at the smile that was on his face. “Hi,” he laughed, noticing the soft smile that was on your face as you looked back at him too.
“What are you up to?” You asked, “or more to the point, what have you done?”
“Am I not allowed to just cuddle you?”
Your eyes looked suspiciously back at Changkyun, “I would say yes, but usually when you do things like these its because there’s mischief involved.”
“You always think the worst of me,” Changkyun laughed, “I’m just cuddling you, there’s nothing more to it, don’t worry.”
Your head nodded, although you were still wary of Changkyun. “I’m watching you, I bet if you’ve not done something yet, you’re going to end up doing something soon instead.”
“I really am just hugging you, I’m innocent.”

weeping I missed the monstas so much :')
everything was wonderful! the mbbs, the cheers, the king behind me who shouted "HUSBAND" when minhyuk asked if we'd be his wife/darling/etc and then proceeded to sing every single song without fail (aksns my fave part of his commentary was during the vcr where kihyun is fixing the motorcycle and he said "oh he a bad b*tch" sjdndndn). the monstas saying they all want to move to TX in 15 years lmao, jooheon and hyungwon in cowboy hats !!!!!, hyungwon taking over joo's rap and then plopping down on the floor after lol, the solo stages!!!!!
the girls I met in line who were also there alone and provided such fun convo while melting in the heat. the dad beside me who said, with such awe, "wow" when the lights went down and the cheers rose. the sheer amount of diversity in the crowd in every way imaginable. monsta x reaches so many people and to share such a special memory with all of them is such a honor.
there was so much more but !!!!! I love them !!

Vixen
Tumblr media
Fandom: Monsta X
Genre: Smut, natch.
Word Count: 8.5k
Pairing: Hyungwon x OC
Trope: Strangers to lovers
Synopsis: Inside this room, he finds his doom.
The Vibe: Abandoned buildings, quiet fall nights, cocky boys who refuse to turn down a dare, best frenemies, dense shadows, overactive imaginations, mysterious strangers, overt song references, fighting a losing battle, doing as nature compels, straight up wild fucking, need need need, lust for dominance, the illusion of control, peril, open questions with clues to the answer for the curious reader, who is she?
A/N:  The first of my October vibe fics! We’ll see the next one in about a week!
“Wildfire” kind of ruined my life in the most spectacular way, so much like “Tailor Made,” this fic is inspired heavily by the song. Hearing Hyungwon singing those lines demanded something a little spooky and definitively naughty. Felt like experimenting in present tense for a change, too. Oh, what this boy does to me. Down bad.
Tumblr media
He isn’t supposed to be here.
Hyungwon knows that. How could he not? Jooheon is convinced the place is haunted, and Hoseok says there isn’t enough ramyun in the world to convince him to walk through those doors, which hang like crooked teeth over a crumbling tongue of weed-infested steps. But it isn’t Minhyuk’s childish dare that ultimately propels him up to the front stoop of the abandoned building; it’s Kihyun’s firm order that Hyungwon is not to do it.
Hyungwon turns around and looks at his six friends. Most of them look worried, save for Kihyun, who’s definitely annoyed, and Minhyuk, who’s positively delighted.
“Remember,” says Minhyuk with his phone out and his timer up, “you have to stay in for a whole hour. If you come out early, I get your PS5.”
Hyungwon scoffs and syncs his timer with his friend’s. “Yeah, yeah, and when I see you in an hour, I get your Gucci messenger.”
“And if you don’t come back out in an hour, don’t expect anyone to go in looking for you,” snaps Kihyun, but Hyunwoo is shaking his head, so Hyungwon knows the eldest will come charging in there regardless looking for him the second the timer ticks to zero.
“This is a stupid bet. Why don’t we just forget it and go get some fried chicken?” Hoseok suggests.
“Let them do what they’re going to do,” Changkyun says with a shrug and goes back to scrolling through his phone without another glance up.
“That’s the problem. Hyungwon always does what he wants to do,” quips Kihyun.
And thanks to that one sentence, it doesn’t matter what anyone else says. Hyungwon is going in. He and Kihyun have been sparring all week since Hyungwon overslept and missed half of their group project session, so he’s bound and determined to put an end to Kihyun’s carping at least until the next time he oversleeps.
Before anyone else can squeeze in another comment, Hyungwon has wriggled through the gap in the sagging boards and leaves behind his biggest critic and all their friends. The moment he’s on the other side of those doors though, his bravado fades. Spite is all well and good to feed his challenge with Kihyun, but it’s no match for his own fertile imagination, which is currently having a field day with his surroundings.
The building is in even worse shape on the inside than it is on the outside. It smells like rot and mildew, and right away, Hyungwon’s “emphysema lungs”—as Minhyuk affectionately calls them—flare up with a cough that he manages to choke down… just in case someone is listening, even though he reminds himself again and again he’s alone. He’s alone.
Hyungwon’s not sure what kind of business this once was, but it was some kind of office judging from the broken typewriter and cobwebbed filing cabinets laying on their sides on the floor. Random ledgers and books litter the rooms and leather chairs spew their cushioning through old tears. It’s hard to tell exactly how long this place has been abandoned, but there’s an old invoice wedged under a busted lamp and a layer of filth that Hyungwon thinks reads “1982.”
It seems odd that a business would leave so much property behind when it closed, let alone in such a scattered mess, and right away, his imagination charges toward the inevitable conclusion that maybe it wasn’t a bankruptcy that drove out these people but something menacing like a fire or a murderer.
Or a ghost.
Hyungwon slaps his cheeks to knock Jooheon’s scaredy-cat voice from his brain.
The urge to serve out his hour just inside the entryway is overwhelming, but that’s not the whole dare. Hyungwon has to make it to the fourth floor—to the room with the moth-eaten curtains where Jooheon swears he saw the ghost of a girl—and wave his phone to everyone below.
He supposes it’s better to do it now rather than later. His friends might think he’s chickening out, and even if he is, he doesn’t want to look like it, not with Yoo Kihyun waiting with an “I told you so” already in the chamber.
Hyungwon takes a deep breath and then a step forward. The board immediately creaks underfoot, but at least it feels solid. He’s not so sure the stairs will be in as good a shape, which is what Hyunwoo was worried about, but Minhyuk said that was part of the challenge.
There isn’t a spot on the floor that doesn’t wail with each footstep, and if a murderous hobo is living upstairs, as Kihyun assumes, there’s no way it doesn’t know a trespasser is on his way.
Hyungwon instead chooses to focus on structural integrity before his mind can manifest a half dozen scary stories, so he plots a course through the hallway toward the stairwell, which is easy to spot thanks to the alley floodlight spearing the holes in the filmy windows. His shoes leave footprints in the dust, so at least he’ll be easy for Hyunwoo to track when he plummets through the floor into the spider-infested basement.
Okay, this was a stupid bet to take, Hoseok was right. It’s not just dangerous—it’s gross here. Hyungwon doesn’t like bugs or dirt or unnecessarily risky adventures. He likes iced americanos and sleeping and arguing with his bossy friends about sleeping, all of which he should be doing now instead of this.
Something creaks overhead.
Automatically, the hairs on the back of his neck prickle.
It can’t be a ghost—ghosts don’t have feet, right? It can’t be a murderous hobo—they certainly do have feet, but there’s nowhere in this damn building that doesn’t squeak to hide the other footsteps. It must be a rat or maybe a raccoon. Instead of being reassured, Hyungwon is disgusted. He should just leave. He can always buy another PS5. Might take him a while, but it would be awfully hard to save up if he’s suffering from the bubonic plague.
But then there’s that sharp-eyed, sharp-tongued plague of a best friend out front, no doubt waiting for his own smug victory lap, and that resolves Hyungwon’s mind—the bubonic plague probably has fewer lingering side effects than being bested by Yoo Kihyun.
Hyungwon reaches the stairs. He’s happy to see they’re concrete and in relatively sturdy shape. The railings are another matter—wooden and rotted through—so he’ll have to take his chances without a handhold. He decides to hug the wall, where the integrity should be much stronger, and he heads upstairs.
By the second floor, he’s feeling confident, and by the third, he’s feeling cocky again. But by the fourth, reality sets in. Hyungwon is where he’s supposed to be, but he also feels like he’s definitely not supposed to be here.
For all intents and purposes, the fourth floor looks like the first—filthy and cluttered and creepy—though it’s better lit thanks to the holes in the roof and a brighter stream of streetlights from more sides. But the brighter light has the unintended consequence of casting ominous shadows from things that shouldn’t be terrifying but now are.
Hyungwon nearly teeters backwards down the steps when he catches sight of a coatrack out of the corner of his eye, and he definitely lets out a gasp when he rounds the corner toward the front room and sees a figure at the end of the corridor. That turns out to be a fake potted tree though, and he’s left feeling like both an idiot and a chicken.
There’s another creak, and he flinches before he realizes this one comes from him as he heads down the hallway. This one has a carpet runner, and every footstep wafts up mold and dust that sends his emphysema lungs into a spasming frenzy that he can’t choke back.
His hacking coughs reverberate up and down the fourth floor, and there’s literally no way a murderous hobo won’t hear him now. Hyungwon outright races toward the front room because what’s the point of keeping quiet now if Jooheon’s angry spirits are already onto him?
He reaches the front of the building, out of breath and sweating profusely despite the short jaunt, and checks his timer. Fifty-three minutes left.
Damnit.
Hyungwon glances right then left, double-checking for the curtained room he’s supposed to enter. It’s on the right, and he sighs. He did it. Now just to put on his best indifferent face as a metaphorical middle finger for Kihyun and Minhyuk…
Hyungwon flexes his jaw and shakes out the tension from his face before he enters the room. He heads straight for the window and finds his six friends steadfastly watching for him. Hoseok is draped all over Jooheon, relief visible like a lighthouse even from the fourth floor. Kihyun is scowling per usual while Minhyuk still manages to look confident he will win. Changkyun and Shownu show no emotion, but Hyungwon knows from their dead-eye stares that that’s how they show their support.
Hyungwon waves his phone as instructed, and Hoseok gives two thumbs up. Now, it’s just a matter of the countdown.
He opens his camera app to take a self-righteous selfie, and the second he flips the angle, he’s covered in gooseflesh.
Something is behind him, and it’s definitely not a tree or a coatrack and it’s much too big to be a rat. The light is dim so the camera is struggling with graininess, but whatever’s behind him moves, and Hyungwon’s skin crawls. It’s a subtle shift, as though it doesn’t want to be seen or doesn’t want to be there either, until it finally disappears.
Exactly like a ghost…
Maybe it would be better to pretend he hasn’t seen it at all, but Hyungwon really doesn’t have a choice. He sucks in a hard and fast breath.
He turns around as if in slow motion and finds the other occupant huddled in the corner.
It isn’t a ghost at all, nor is it a murderous hobo.
It’s a woman.
She’s making herself very small from her perch on top of a desk in the corner. Her arms are wrapped around her shins and her chin is behind her knees so only her very wide eyes are peeping at him. When their gazes connect, everything changes for reasons he can’t possibly fathom.
She springs down from the desk, landing on feet so light that the floor doesn’t even creak. She races forward, stopping halfway to Hyungwon. Her head cocks to the side as though she’s trying to figure out why another human’s here instead of the ghost maybe they both were expecting.
“Oh! Hello!” she says. Whatever fear she’d harbored vanishes. Her voice is cute, a little like a bark of an excited puppy. She’s clearly surprised but, still, she’s waving at him, her hand like a metronome on the highest speed.
“H-hi,” Hyungwon stutters. He sounds stupid, but at least he answers.
He studies her eyes first. They slant up at the edges with mesmerizing brown irises in the center. They might look predatory in the wrong face, but in hers, they’re eager and alert and trained solely on him. Her wavy hair is streaked with brown and auburn and even a funny little strip of white at her crown that somehow makes her look younger instead of older. Her ears stick out, accentuating the cuteness in an already cute face.
A sweater swallows up her petite athletic frame just as her sweatpants do to her legs. She looks so soft and small compared to his long, wiry frame that Hyungwon has the irrational urge to pet her on his lap. He wonders if she’d purr. Okay, that’s a ludicrous thought, but he can’t stop himself from thinking it.
But as cute as she is, there are a few weird scars that catch his eye, too. Even though her hands are fidgeting inside those long sleeves, he sees the raised scratches on them. They’re old, dark brown against her fair skin, and in neat parallel lines of four. Peaking just above the sagging neckline of her sweater, there are a few more scars, but these are not scratches but punctures.
Her ears twitch as she smiles. “What’s your name?”
“Chae Hyungwon,” he says with the same robotic voice he always did for class roll calls.
“What are you doing here, Chae Hyungwon?”
She doesn’t say her name back, and she’s already asked another question, so it would be rude to ask his own instead of answering hers.
“I don’t know,” he replies, only realizing a second later that he knows exactly why he’s here but he’d completely forgotten for a moment. “I mean, my friends dared me to spend an hour in here. Some of them think this place is haunted. I don’t, uh, um, obviously, so, yeah, that’s the story of me in this place.”
She cocks her head, and her big ears twitch again with the motion. “Your friends are in here, too?”
She sounds a little tenser now, and she looks it, too. She’s fast and restless and bouncy, pacing along the edge of the room now somewhere between anxious and excited, and Hyungwon isn’t sure if that’s because of him or his friends or that’s just who she is.
“No, they’re waiting for me outside. See?”
He moves to the window and waves down, everyone but Kihyun waving back.
She doesn’t move to the window. In fact, she backs a little further into the corner again.
“Are you here on a dare, too?”
“Sort of,” she says.
“Mine’s an hour,” Hyungwon repeats and then realizes he's already said that. He’s really batting a thousand here…
“Mine’s a little longer than that.”
“Overnight, huh?” he says with a frown, trying to imagine one corner of this spider palace that even he, a world champion sleeper, could find comfortable enough to bed down. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay,” she says, still looking warily to the window. “Time’s almost up. I just have to tough it out a little longer.”
Hyungwon presses his lips together as he studies her. There’s a pile of clothes on the desk behind her all balled up. They’re dirty, too, but not covered in the layers of filth like the rest of this place.
He narrows his eyes. “Are your friends spending the night, too?”
“No. They think I’m being silly. They don’t want me here.”
Hyungwon smiles a little. “Neither do mine. So, what’s to stop you from leaving?”
“Me,” she replies simply.
“You sound like my friend Kihyun. He’s good at following through on things or, more importantly, making everyone else follow through on things. If he weren’t standing right outside, I’d have already gone home. Not because I’m scared,” he’s quick to add. “Because there are tons of other things I’d rather be doing.”
“Like what?”
She almost sounds like a child when she asks a question. There’s not only genuine interest in it but pure innocence, as though she’s never imagined anything more interesting than this crumbling building.
Hyungwon’s finding it hard to answer again. What is more interesting than this building and the pretty girl in it?
“I don’t know,” he says, “lots of stuff. Sleeping, video games, movies.”
What a lame answer. He’s embarrassed.
But she doesn’t seem to mind. It’s almost like she’s never heard of those things, the way she has her head tilted further to the side. She smiles, toothy and bright.
She’s so cute, he thinks and realizes too late he’s grinning dumbly at her.
Then something passes over her eyes, a little flutter that chases away the brightness there. Her small mouth tightens around the edges, and she’s pacing the wall again. When she speaks, her voice is much heavier. “Maybe you should go and do those things.”
Hyungwon takes a step toward the door. He might be off in his own world half the time, but the other half, he reads people pretty well. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. I can wait out my time downstairs now.”
He gives her a quick bow and is about to slip out, confused and more than a little disappointed, when she zips in front of him like a lightning bolt. He had sensed she was fast, but in this foreboding place, he almost jumps out of his skin.
Those angled eyes are wide and jittery as she scopes him out from head to toe. She’s biting her bottom lip. Maybe she’s trying to flirt—Hyungwon is familiar with his effect on women after all—but the more she shifts from foot to foot, he supposes that may just be wishful thinking.
“Hey, are you okay?” he asks.
“I’m not well,” she confesses, “which is why you should leave.”
Hyungwon smiles gently. “I tried, remember?”
The heaviness of guilt anchors the edges of her elegant face as she says, “I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Is it contagious?”
“I’m not sick—”
“Then let me help you,” he insists. “How can I help you?”
“It would help if you left, Hyungwon,” she says firmly, or maybe it’s desperately. “I won't get in your way this time. But you should hurry.”
Her eyes look even more wild now though they’re darker, narrower. Her nose twitches, too, and it would be cute if it weren’t for those eyes. Just like that, she’s pacing the length of the wall again, and she’s not biting her lip but worrying it.
“I can’t leave just yet,” he replies. That’s true—he still has forty minutes on his timer—but it’s not really honest. He doesn’t want to leave.
It smells different in here now. There’s still the fetid aroma of wet dirt, but it’s appealing now, primitive and animalistic, and it awakens something inside him. Hyungwon never feels like this, like there’s some base need in the pit of his belly growing unchecked and yearning for fulfilment, but right now, looking at this woman challenging him with her feisty eyes and restless stance, an urge to chase her overwhelms. And if the coil in his stomach has its way, it will only be satisfied when he pins her to the ground and takes her as his body demands.
But that’s not Hyungwon. He’s a cool, quiet guy known for lazing around and zoning out. Not to be conceited, but women come to him. He doesn’t have to hunt.
But he wants to.
He wants her.
He knows that’s ridiculous. He doesn’t know this girl, and she’s certainly not the reason he came in here. Literally everything is screaming at him to run from this feeling. It’s an abandoned building with mushrooms growing out of the floorboards, for God’s sake. This isn’t the place to come for a passionate rendezvous or to meet the girl of his dreams—or, at least, maybe not for a guy who likes a bed and his woman on top.
“Stop it,” she says.
“What?”
“Stop looking at me like that.”
Hyungwon swallows hard, knowing he’s been caught. “Sorry. You’re right, I’ll go.”
He takes another step to leave, and again, she blocks the door with her small frame. The weird intensity in her eyes has diffused, and now, they are big and round, looking up apologetically at him. It almost gives him whiplash, and he can hardly believe it’s the same girl.
“That was so rude of me,” she blurts. “Please forgive me. I haven’t talked with anybody in a while, and my manners were always bad to begin with. Please stay if you want to. I mean, I want you to.”
There’s that urge to pounce again, the one that keeps getting stronger by the second and far worse the closer she stands. He realizes that smell—the musky one that gets his blood pumping—is coming from her and not the building. When she’s this close, his mind spins and yet stills on one inevitable conclusion.
He has to have her.
Hyungwon isn’t a forward type of guy, at least not when he’s just met someone. He likes getting to know people, likes connecting with them on deeper levels and likes when they think of him in his own category—as someone they want to run to when they need an ally. He doesn’t leap, he falls—helplessly and accidentally before he even knows he’s tripped. This is different because he’s leaping and falling all at the same time, and he’s painfully aware of all of it.
“Oh, this is really bad,” she says, changing tone again. Her hands are knotted in front of her, and she’s twitching and shifting, but her eyes are steadily lashed to him. “Why didn’t I let you go?”
His mouth is dry, his brain is fuzzy, but his vision is clear and focused on the pretty, wild creature in front of him. “If you still want me to go, I will. I’m not trying to freak you out.”
“It’s not your fault. It’s mine.” Hyungwon doesn’t understand, but before he can say so, she adds, “I can’t help it. It’s not a matter of what I want. I need you—”
“You need me to leave?” he finishes, his voice brittle.
“Yes,” she says slowly, “but…”
“But?”
“I’m sorry, I can’t let you go.”
At just the brush of her fingers on the back of his hand, sparks shower over him. In an instant, his world is consumed by fire. Her nails are sharper than he realized, and they scratch enticingly across his skin.
“I didn’t think it could happen so fast,” she murmurs. “And it was almost over…”
He wants to ask what she means, but the pads of her fingers slip into his hand and stroke his palm in a way that makes his brain short-circuit. What’s left of his thoughts is divided between the way her chest is heaving and the part of her lips as she borderline pants for him.
She reaches a hand up to his cheek and strokes him. Hyungwon closes his eyes and leans into it because he simply has to.
“Why did you have to be so beautiful?” she whispers. “I knew they would tempt me, but I thought I could outrun it.”
“They who?” he mumbles as he falls deeper into her whirlpool gaze.
“Maybe I still can…”
Called by her throaty voice, he leans down expectantly, but she smiles at him and jerks her head to the side at the last second. Hyungwon imagines he sees mischief as much as desire in those eyes, but he’s never met someone so difficult to read—it's like she’s a dozen different books at once.
“If you want me,” she says with freshly wet lips, “you have to catch me.”
With that, she darts through the door and into the hallway. Hyungwon spends only a few seconds weighing his options—it’s a dark, condemned building and she’s a total stranger—before he runs after her.
She is fast, but his legs are long, and he closes the distance between them easily. He thinks he has her just before she reaches the top of the stairs, but then she zips to the left and into another shell of an office. Hyungwon is right on her tail, but she’s nimble and hides behind a dusty desk, squaring off with him in a staring contest. There is fire in her eyes as there no doubt is in his. When she smiles, she looks like she is laughing at him as much as she is baiting him. Her teeth look sharper in the thin light, and her cheeks are blazing. She’s a different person than the timid thing who’d cowered from him on first sight, but then so is he.
Hyungwon is a nice, reasonable guy. He doesn’t play games. He’s open and honest, if sometimes far too blunt. He doesn’t think he’s a pervert even if his usual fantasies sometimes stray into an X-rated realm. But in no time at all, this woman has driven him to some kind of madness. She’s all he can think about. He can smell her all over him. He tastes her already—wild and deep and lingering on his tongue. He feels her, too. He’s done none of those things yet, though that doesn’t stop him from feeling overrun by his desire to do all of them at once.
While Hyungwon is lost in his very intense fantasy of her, she bolts back into the hallway witha savage laugh.
“Shit!” he mutters, and his feet reel underneath him.
He almost misses her disappearing into the room at the end of the hall, and even though he’s sure he saw her come in here, when he finally enters the room, there’s no sign of her, not even a smeared footprint in the dust.
Hyungwon’s heart plummets. She’s gone.
Just like that, she’s vanished from his life, leaving only a monsoon of desperate emotions sloshing in his chest.
He runs his hands through his hair. Was she a ghost? It’s stupid to think that, but maybe it isn’t. Okay, it still is.
Get it together, Hyungwon, he scolds himself.
She’s still here. She has to be. His heart is still hammering and his palms are still sweaty. He can feel her energy charging every inch of him. He leans into that and lets his body, not his brain, guide him through the labyrinth of file rooms and offices. With every footfall, he senses he is closing in. The how is not important, all that matters is that he finds her again.
Hyungwon clears everything on the top floor except the last room in the back corner. By now, his pulse is throbbing in time with his very painful erection, but he is sure she’s in here. He can feel her setting his skin on fire.
The anticipation is driving him crazy. Hyungwon is not one to chase anyone, but the thrill is intoxicating. He's drenched in sweat and steeped in anticipation. Where is she? He needs her.
Now.
The last room is an old conference room, with a big, dusty table, dozens of crumbling boxes, a few scattered chairs, and no exits. She has to be here.
Hyungwon looks for signs of her. There’s a chair on the floor and a handprint on the table. She was here. She must still be here.
His eyes cut through the shadows to which he’s growing more and more accustomed. In the corner, there’s an empty bookshelf, but she’s not beside it. There’s also a storage closet. His gaze sharpens on it.
Quietly, he steps forward, and when he’s right in front of it, he takes a deep breath and yanks the knob.
“Found y—”
His triumph dies on his lips. She’s not in there either.
She’s a ghost after all.
His stomach lurches.
There’s a sudden bump and whoosh, and Hyungwon wheels on his heel. From under the table darts a figure, lean, lithe, and fast as hell. But he’s been waiting—every atom of him has been waiting—and he lunges. His hands close around a narrow waist, and he surges forward until they run out of real estate.
Hyungwon has her caged in against the wall, and she whirls around so their eyes meet. She is much smaller than he is, but she doesn’t cower. Instead, her breath is racing. Her eyes flash along with her teeth. Her excitement charges Hyungwon with some kind of delirium he's never felt for a woman before. He has never been so hard in his whole life. It’s like he was made to fuck this woman. He will never feel fulfilled unless he does. It’s terrifying, but it’s all so natural.
“I don’t know what’s come over me. I swear I’m not usually like this,” he blabbers as he looms over her, panting in her face.
“I know,” she says, and it almost sounds sad. It’s just enough to dam the lust so Hyungwon can think straight again.
“What’s happening to me?”
“You should fight it,” she urges. “You should run.”
“Do you want me to go?”
“I don’t want you to go, Hyungwon. I need you to go. I need you to run.”
His lips press to the crown of her hair. He breathes her in, his mysterious vixen. Her hair smells strongly of mustiness, of nature and the earth, of dampness and decay, but underneath it all, she smells of desire. It’s real. It’s primal.
“I’m sorry,” she whispers.
“Why do you keep apologizing?” Hyungwon asks, tracing her face with his hand.
It’s the first time there’s some kind of ice in her eyes to temper the flames. “Because I want to make sure you know that I really did try to resist you, but I won’t. I can’t. I want you too much.”
With their fates sealed, she collides with his mouth. Her tongue slides between his, and a burst of cold unfurls in the center of all the heat, almost like she’s been sucking on an ice cube. Hyungwon moans because the sensation is as unexpected as it is delicious. Her nails bite into him sharper than expected, but the pain is a welcome reminder that she is real and not some ghost.
The cold spreads through his body like a riptide, pulling parts of him on a strong current to her. He hasn’t experienced anything like this before. Deep down, he knows she’s right—he should fight; riptides kill—but it also feels like it was always meant to be a losing battle and, more importantly, one he doesn’t mind losing.
But slowly, the cold morphs into heat, a scalding heat the way frostbite feels like fire. The deeper her tongue probes his mouth, the hotter he burns even as he’s frozen in place. Her moan at his taste makes his arm give way beside her, and he tumbles into her, intent on crushing her beneath him.
Her hands spool into his hair in response as her hips rut against his thigh.
Good, she’s as crazy for him as he is for her, and Hyungwon only wants to make her crazier.
There’s so many things he wants to do to her. He wants to taste every inch of her. He wants to suckle at her perky breasts and nibble on her hard clit and eat her out until she can’t walk and he has to carry her everywhere for the next day, but right now, he has to bury himself to his hilt inside her. It’s the only thing that makes sense. It’s what he needs, it’s what she needs—to cum for each other while knotted up together in their dank little love den.
Hyungwon breaks their kiss to grab her shoulders before he swivels her around to bend her over the conference room table. Her hands squeal through years of grime, leaving frenzied tracks of need like wild fucking animals. It rustles up a cloud of dust and mildew that would usually send him into a sneezing fit, but it’s like all his senses beyond his woman have dimmed. He only smells her. He only tastes her. He only needs her.
She lets out a little moan that sets his teeth on edge. Everything about her is egging him on, and he’s losing his mind. His hands find the waist of her pants and yank them down so hard that seams pop. She snarls but so does he.
Her heat slams into him like a radiator waiting to scald the first errant touch. Hyungwon wastes no time. He gropes her sex with his whole hand, letting her dripping core coat his palm in sticky desire. He rubs in a frenzy—he can’t help himself. He’s not sure what he’s doing because he’s never done things like this before. This isn’t him. Hyungwon is a slow lover, a purposeful lover. He likes getting lost in his partners and staying lost. Maybe he’s doing that now, too, but this is far more feral.
“Fuck me, fuck me, fuck me,” she whines, wriggling her ass against him and smearing more of her arousal all over his hand.
Hyungwon unzips his jeans and groans the moment he’s freed from his denim prison. Now, he wants the pressure of her cunt bearing down on him in relentless waves, that riptide pulling him ever deeper inside her. He won’t deny either of them any longer.
He takes the wet lust drenching his hand and smears it along his length so he will be able to take her faster. He can’t waste another second. The head of his cock fits snugly at her entrance. He can feel her pulsing with the promise of a fast, hard fuck, and he’s so sensitive, he’s ready to blow his load before he’s even inside her, so he pushes in without warning.
She yelps, her nails scratching the table, but it’s immediately followed by an obscene moan. She swivels her ass to swallow every last millimeter of his member and whimpers, “It’s been so long, but I don’t remember it ever feeling this good.”
Hyungwon’s brain is combusting. She shouldn’t say these kinds of things to him. They only serve to make him wilder.
One of his hands snakes up under her shirt and grabs one of her tits, squeezing hard as much to hold steady against his fast rhythm as it is to sample yet another one of her secret pleasures. She fits so well in the palm of his hand, too. Her nipple slots between his fingers, and he tightens them, which sends a cry from her lips and a shiver through her cunt.
“Don’t stop,” she begs. “Don’t ever stop.”
“I never will,” he grunts in return.
Maybe it’s the depth of his voice or maybe it’s the crackle of flames in it, but she moans and pushes back hard against him until he bottoms out again. It feels like he’s somewhere deep in the pit of her stomach, he’s burrowed so far inside her, and every ripple along her walls seems to constrict around him, tethering him to her, frantic to keep him.
Unexpectedly, Hyungwon cums.
He expects to be embarrassed, to be ashamed at his performance and his lack of willpower, but since he’s met this untamed creature, he’s had none. He should have known, and yet the strength of his release takes him totally by surprise. It’s like he’s emptying everything he has into her, and he really, really, really needs her to take it all and beg for more, more, more.
“Yes,” she whines and works her ass against his hips as if she can read his thoughts. “Yes, so deep. Feels so good inside me.”
It’s like her words lengthen his climax. It feels like he’s being drained not just of his seed but his life force, and it feels wonderful. Hyungwon collapses onto her back and sandwiches her against the table; only then does he remember to breathe.
“I’m s—” he tries to splutter out between pathetic gulps of air, but her keening drowns it out.
“I need more, Hyungwon.”
He wanted her to beg for more, but what does he have left to give now? It was the wickedest orgasm of his life. His legs are jelly, his mind is mush, and inside her ravenous cunt, his dick is throbbing. Fire marches through his veins, setting his extremities to tingling. He’s hyper-aware of the way her core is massaging his length, milking him for all he’s worth.
“You have to give me more,” she whimpers, and it sounds borderline frantic, like she’s choking back tears.
Hyungwon pulls out nearly all the way before he glides back in through his own sticky release.
She wails gratefully.
He’s already cum. Why is he still hard? Why does he still want her so badly?
Again, he fucks into her, much more leisurely this time, promising himself he’s going to savor her like she should be savored, but suddenly, her hand reaches back and stills his hips. Her nails bite into his tender flesh and he growls.
“On the table,” she orders, and despite how his reasoned mind balks at the idea of his body touching all the filth, her orders are not to be disobeyed.
Hyungwon sits on the table edge, but she shakes her head lightly.
“Lay down.”
He does so without hesitation, and she purrs before she slides out of her sweatpants as he does out of his own. There’s not even time for either of them to slip out of their shirts before the need for each other takes an even firmer hold. Nimble as a wild animal, she pounces on the table and stands directly over him. The table creaks but mercifully gives no other sign of protest.
His vixen is small, but she towers above him. From here, he gets a front row seat to watch his massive release leak down her toned thighs. As embarrassed as he is at his brief showing, a flash of pride burns brightly in his chest. She is his and everyone should see it.
She crouches then, fingers pressed for stability on his tensed stomach while her other hand encircles the base of his cock. Her eyes are predatory now. She licks her lip and sinks down onto his shaft.
Hyungwon groans so loudly, he’s worried the guys outside might hear and come looking for him.
“That’s better,” she says breathily after her own moan trails off. When she’s ready, she braces her stance on either side of Hyungwon’s narrow hips for a better grip on the dusty wood and begins to bounce.
She’s too good at this. She’s just too good in general. Her compact, wiry frame gives her speed as well as agility, and she pistons with precision on his cock.
In the silence of the abandoned building, their bodies are loud—grunts and sighs and ragged breaths, squelching and slapping and creaking table legs. Hyungwon is generally comfortable in silence, but not today and not with her. He wants to hear their sin as much as he wants to feel it, and, fuck, does it feel good.
Before, with him behind her, it felt primal—it felt urgent. But she is using him now, stealing what she wants from him this time, and even though he’s just here as a tool, that makes him feel more powerful than ever. She only feels this good because of him, because of what he gives her, and that knowledge, more than anything, brings the tightness back to his stomach.
Beneath her, Hyungwon is coming apart. His eyes roll back in his head as he falls victim to every ounce of pleasure she wields against him. He’s always favored being under a woman—savoring the sight of her face slackening with release as her breasts sway with her natural rhythm—but she is different in every way. She isn’t tiring, she isn’t begging. She’s taking and taking and taking, and all he wants to do is offer her more.
Maybe she won’t beg, but Hyungwon’s certainly not above it.
“Don’t stop,” he croaks out. “Don’t ever stop. Please.”
She opens her eyes then, stares down at him and then his fingers, which have coiled around her waist at some point when he was lost in her. Her eyes glow like embers dying in a fire, but with a blink, that image is gone.
Even if Hyungwon tries to convince himself this is more than just using each other, there’s nothing romantic about this. It’s fucking, plain and simple. He feels raw and savage and rabid with lust for this woman as she bounces up and down on the full breadth of his cock.
But as he looks up into her face, those strong cheekbones contoured even stronger by her building euphoria, he thinks maybe this could become more than two strangers succumbing to base need. She’s beautiful and impulsive, sure, but she’s also elusive and captivating, and there’s something about her that makes him think she has an old soul, too. Maybe they can be more than perfect one-night sex. He wants to be. He wants her to continue to need him.
Or maybe that’s just his fantastical mind justifying why he’d plowed dick-deep into a woman who still hadn’t told him her name.
Her moans are climbing higher while at the same time getting shorter and more frantic. She grips his wrists to ride him harder, and just as her walls seize around him, Hyungwon breaks her hold to wrap his arms around her and pull her flat against his chest. Her hair fans across his cracking lips as he heaves, desperate for the air that seems to be steadily thinning as he plows up into her.
She’s keening now but so is he, and together, they mewl as Hyungwon buries himself as deep as he can get and unloads again. This time, he feels it in his toes, his thighs, his belly, even the back of his head. His vision swims with the strength of his climax, and his hug constricts so violently around her that she digs her claws into the meat of his shoulders.
Hyungwon lingers inside her, his hips still hovering in mid-air to make sure the last trickles of his orgasm remain within her painted walls. Eventually though, his legs give out, and he eases them both back down to the table.
She is limp on his chest, and if it weren’t for the high-speed thundering of her breath against his neck, he might have worried she’d passed out.
“Why didn’t you run?” she asks from the safety of the hollow of his throat. Her voice is breaking, and a shiver runs through him.
Slowly, she lifts her chest from his. Her hand cradles his head while an unexpected tear falls from her eye onto his chin.
“Why would I ever run from you?” he replies gently.
Hyungwon traces the back of his hand across her cheek to wipe away the track of her tear, but it only provokes two more from her.
“Did I do something wrong?” he asks, earnestly terrified that he has.
“No,” she sniffs. “I did. I will. I can’t help it.”
“It’s okay,” he soothes.
“Hyungwon?”
She sounds small and helpless, and it makes every part of him want to hold her even closer.
“What?” he says.
“Forgive me?”
“For what?”
“For this.”
She descends like a feather, her body lightly kissing his from waist to chest to lips at last. He wishes they were naked so he could feel every inch of her the way he’s meant to, but he will take as much of her as he can get.
Right away, Hyungwon discovers this kiss is different than any kiss he’s ever had. It’s hard to explain, but he feels it like it’s his first and last kiss all at once. There’s so much weight in it though their lips are merely dusting one another’s. It’s making him lightheaded and a little giddy. Through the gentle caress of swollen skin, he lets out an airy sigh, and, dimly, he thinks he sounds drunk.
Through his shuttered eyes, he senses a faint golden light, almost like the first tinge of sunrise, but he knows they are still deep in the throes of night. He opens his eyes and finds his lady soft and delicate above him. It’s almost as if the light is emanating between them, for he can see every detail of her face with perfect clarity—the curl of her lashes feathering her cheeks, the sharp upturn at the tip of her nose, the pointiness of her brows dulled by their gentle kissing. Hyungwon closes his eyes again to better enjoy the sensations of her walls squeezing his waning hard-on and their breaths melding into one another.
As his tongue sweeps deep into her mouth now, ice unexpectedly marches through his veins. He’s been on fire this whole time, but now he is frigid to his very bones. He gasps, and she returns the favor to push into his mouth. It’s not just her tongue he feels now, but a strange round shape, like a marble or a bead. Everything in his body is cold, but this is warm. So warm. It rolls around in his mouth, getting hotter by the second. She is playing with it, too, almost like two cats bandying around a ball of yarn.
Hyungwon knows this isn’t normal, but the cold is shutting down his senses, like a bear preparing for hibernation. He’s had the two best orgasms of his life, and he is tired. Now, his eyes aren’t closed just to appreciate the feel of the woman above him, but they’re closed because he wants to fall asleep inside her. He would be content to never wake up from her hold on him.
Somewhere in the dim cavern at the back of his mind, a little voice tries to call to him. It wants to rouse him; it wants him to open his eyes, but Hyungwon can do neither. It’s like seeing his dreaming self from outside his body, and he’s helpless but to watch himself drift deeper into acceptance.
The bead in his mouth feels like molten lead. It’s getting hard to remember simple things. Where is he? Why is he here—wherever this is? Who is he? He thinks he knows. He thinks it’s important. He knows he’s supposed to know these things, but they’re not as important as they once were.
“Wonnie, man, where are you?”
As soon as Changkyun’s deep voice booms up the stairwell, the world crystallizes. The heaviness on Hyungwon’s chest lifts, and he sucks in a violent breath as though he’s just made it up from the bottom of the ocean in the nick of time. The fire that has seared his skin for the last hour extinguishes, too, leaving only the memory of the burn throbbing all over him. Inside his veins, the ice thaws, yet he’s still frozen. He remembers his name and his friends. He remembers his bet. He remembers the abandoned office building, but he does not remember how he got to this room.
Hyungwon tries to move—to call out—but he can’t. He feels drained, lifeless.
“Come on already! You won. Don’t be a showoff,” shouts Kihyun next.
Everyone pauses for Hyungwon’s inevitable retort, but none comes.
“I thought you weren’t coming in,” Minhyuk chides in the silence, which earns him an immediate “Zip it” from their stern-lipped friend.
His friends’ voices feel much closer now, though Hyungwon’s pretty sure they’re still on the first floor. The stairwell acts like a PA system, transmitting their banter with perfect clarity.
“I swear to god, if that clever brat slipped out the back—” Kihyun warns.
“Why don’t we split up?” suggests Hyunwoo. “Everyone, take a floor.”
Minhyuk chuckles. “You don’t get enough credit for how shrewd you are, hyung.”
“We can cover more ground this way,” the eldest assures though, after a pause, he continues, “and it will be easier for Hyungwon to answer us if it’s quieter.”
“I don’t like the idea of splitting up,” hedges Kihyun. “It might be better to look in pairs.”
“Chicken,” Minhyuk baits.
“Do you want me to call in Jooheon and Hoseok?” asks Changkyun.
“What would be the point?” says Minhyuk. “Even if we could get those two babies inside, we wouldn’t be able to hear each other over their screaming, let alone Wonnie.”
Hyungwon should be heartened that his friends are searching for him, but he can’t feel anything except the vague notion that he should be trying to call for help. Even his eyes are unfocused. The room is cloudy just like the last leg of his life.
He remembers feelings: ecstasy, relief, a quick ice bath of sadness, followed by listlessness. And that is where he’s stayed, mired in grayness.
“Wonnie!” shouts Minhyuk this time. His voice is a thousand times louder and more demanding than Changkyun’s. It shakes something awake in Hyungwon.
“Here,” he answers, though it’s a pitiful sound, like a mewling kitten in the rain. Nobody hears him.
His friends take turns calling until, finally, Hyunwoo gets close enough to catch his little cries.
“Up here!” the eldest bellows as he turns the corner and finds Hyungwon stretched out on the conference room table.
Hyungwon doesn’t remember much after that save for a weird shiver of embarrassment that follows Minhyuk’s incredulous shout: “Dude, why are you naked?”
His friends help him dress and bring him downstairs. They douse him with questions, none of which he can answer because he’s still not sure what happened. All he really remembers is waking up in the hospital just the right side of Death’s door with snippets of a surreal dream that are both too wonderful to remember and far too terrifying.
He doesn’t know what happened on the fourth floor of that decrepit office, and he’s not sure he’s ready to know.
And yet…
The day he’s released from the hospital, Hyungwon finds himself sitting on the curb outside that building. And the day after that. And the day after that. And most days after that for the next couple of months.
He stares up into one window in particular every time. He expects to see a ghost because that’s what Jooheon assures him nearly killed him, but he never does. If it were a ghost, it would come back, right?
He wants it to come back if just so he knows he’s not crazy. Or maybe that’s just the safe answer he gives to all his friends. The truth is much more shameful than that.
As close as he was to death that day, Hyungwon had touched some kind of happiness he hasn’t been able to feel since then. It’s probably grotesque, but at least it’s honest.
Sometimes he thinks about going back inside, but he’s not stupid—well, that stupid. He feels like his answers are in there along with his memories, but his friends would never forgive him if he went back in, so he doesn’t. He just sits and stares at the window, hoping something more then the memory of fire and riptides will unlock. It feels important.
So for now, he sits, legs folded up like a paperclip at the end of a dead-end road, staring up and zoning out, the wisp of a voice on the edge of his brain.
Forgive me?
Something rustles in the overgrowth in front of the building. Hyungwon shoots to his feet, his eyes trained into the twilight. It’s far too small to be either a human or ghost. A flash of rust and white. An eye of golden flame. A cat or a fox maybe. Either way, it signals it’s time for him to leave his post. It’s getting dark and there’s always tomorrow.
Maybe that will be the day he remembers the one elusive, beautiful, important thing he never wants to forget.
