Facts About the TWST Boys You Might Not Know: Octavinelle
So, it's been a minute since I made the other ones, but by the time I'm making this, the Heartslabyul part has been out for 3 days, and it's already the most popular post I've ever made, which is kinda insane. 92 fucking notes. Where did all the people come from? No clue.
Tbh, I'm glad people enjoyed the post (or just liked because it's a thing people do where they just like posts they think are cool? Which I don't understand, but whatever.), but I make these posts for very selfish reasons, so it's not super important. I just chose to include this because I find it insane so many people interacted with one of my posts.
Anyway-
SKIP DOWN BELOW THE CUT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ A BORING MESSAGE!
Azul
He knows how to play the piano, and was in a band with both Jade and Floyd
He can write with all 10 of his limbs in his octo form (I figure that's pretty well known, but I still like this fact)
He's into coin collecting
His last name references a color like his first name, but also has grotto in it, referencing the grotto where Ariel in The Little Mermaid kept her human findings (that sounds weird, but it's technically true)
Jade
His job when there is a new influx of Octavinelle students is to gain info on them to both appeal to them and blackmail them. The info includes: home countries, hobbies, tastes, least favorite foods, worst subjects, and a catalogue of the students' public, private, and secret Magicam accounts (I do not want to be an Octavinelle student, holy fuck)
The little earing he wears (Floyd also wears, so I'm gonna put this fact in his as well) is made from sturgeon scales, because before they entered middle school, a sturgeon challenged them to a fight, and in return for being beaten by the twins, the sturgeon had to give them some scales (I'm pretty sure they might have also just taken the scales and said the sturgeon gave the scales to them)
The sturgeon scales mentioned above are apparently lucky charms in the Coral Sea
Floyd
His name is actually Welsh, and means "grey" or "grey-haired" (very interesting, actually)
As we all know, he has a nickname for most of the TWST cast. (I actually made a post about these nicknames a while ago, but I'm not linking it because going through my posts for that would be waaayyy too much of a hassle)
He says he's neither the older nor younger twin brother of Jade (which.... like... does it really matter? And since they hatch from an egg (I'm assuming because I just looked it up and morays do lay eggs), wouldn't they have a chance to hatch at the same time?)
His skin is very beautiful and well-moisturized according to Vil (Is Jade not the same or...?)
Floyd is very interested in shoes (I'm sure we knew that though)
Oh shit, a good fact right here. Floyd can perfectly recall anything he has seen or heard as long as it's interesting to him. If it's boring, he'll forget it immediately. (I actually never knew this wtf)
I wish the other dorms got as much love as Heartslabyul, but I feel like that last Floyd fact will make up for that for now.
Anyways, I'll get Scarabia done when I get it done I guess.

Hi Finn! Keepin’ it on anon ‘cause I’m shy. Also, this opinion might be half-baked. I’ve read your essay! Great points were made — still, I’d like to contribute with something I’ve also noticed throughout the years: Not only some people may overstep on their too-complex-to-actually-put-into-words relationship, but overanalyze some of Dan or Phil’s comments as well. What I’m trying to say is, I’ve met people who idealized Dan and Phil’s relationship so much, that they get their expectations too high on their content, forgetting they are, in part, just creators.
Bringing my point further, I remember Dan jokingly (but also as a reminder) once said him and Phil were both content creators, not reality stars. As internet creators, it is true some of their comments (either on social media, or videos) are made to fuck around with their audience, some others may come up without a prior thought process, or were said just to be #relatable. The point is, these comments do not necessarily reflect their realities nor real feelings. I’ve read people actually doubt their relationship and love/appreciation for each other just because they joked about desiring other men, as an example. Hell, even people taking jokes waaayyy to seriously.
There comes the extreme idealization of relationships. Dan and Phil are internet personas at the end of the day, whatever they say or do on the web, most of the time, is not meant to be taken too literally. Idealizing their relationship as if their content has to necessarily reflect a romance out of a fairytale between the two at all times is foolish. Dan and Phil can say whatever they want online, be this recognizable character, speak about whatever or whoever. Not because they don’t act “couple-y” enough or make extreme jokes about swinging on a channel / talk about other people their relationship should be doubted.
That’s not how all relationships work. Their bond is very clear, sure, but hoping it will be straight out of a generic romance novel can be really harming to your expectations. Also, I feel like as if people tend to forget their content is about a duo out there being silly and queer, and making speculations of how does their relationship work off-camera based on their characters ends up distorting reality even more. They stated it several times. What is meant to be personal will be kept private.
Does this make sense? help
Thank you for sharing :D
I definitely agree and think that it is also adding onto my point of people who assume things, and how queer relationships can be very different. I think some people can get a bit attached to the concept that dnp are strictly monogamous and they can only be that or else it ruins the fantasy of their dynamic. They may be completely monogamous to each other and all the jokes they make about Dan being a cougar looking for twinks, or Phil and his 10 foot wang out on the town every sunday - and all their many other jokes that are sexual or romantic and not directed at each other - they may all just be funny and not mean a thing. But I still think the issue is peoples inability to believe that there are other possibilities outside of, again, the heteronormative monogamous relationship idea that is immediately put on them.
And I also think people can get a bit overbearing with this whole “well we know them, so we know they don’t interact with anyone else and are only for each other” even though they have said they’ve been to gay bars (in catboy costumes 😭) and out in clubs, seeing friends and obviously dan went out many times on tour - I think sometimes people become too attached to the idea that they fully know the both of them, but we only know what they choose to share. I think Dan covers a lot of amazing points in his “We are in a relationship” video about the parasocial nature that we share with him and also phil, but also them as a duo, but I feel that most people like to ignore the things that they have shared about privacy or how the parasocial behaviours have been really damaging to them, because it can make people feel like they’re hurting them - which I’m guessing most people don’t want to believe they are doing.
I think people just need to find a middle ground :-] its easy to respect their boundaries and still love them so much, but it should always be remembered how they are actually humans - who exist in a non-fantasy universe when the cameras are off, and to make sure you’re aware of their boundaries
And also to make sure you arent being too weirdly intense or rude to other fans - sometimes people can gain a superiority complex about “defending” dan and phil, or acting like they are higher than others, which is equally weird to do and also equally invasive to act like you know them enough to defend their dynamic / relationship.

Okay, the whole question of how Pete was roommateless before Porsche came along being discussed got my brain making rotisserie chicken and besties it's pollo a la brasa. Like many, we can assume that his previous roomie just died, but honey that boy was waaayyy too comfortable with his bits hanging out. That's single-person-who-hasn't- shared-space-in-ages behavior número uno.
Just paraphrasing my tags on that post, I believe somehow Pete has just always managed to live alone regardless of how many new hires there have been throughout his time with the major family. How isn't the important part (although it's speculated between clerical error, other guards just sensing him as a weirdo and leaving him alone, or my own thought that he engineered it himself). But I like to think that the reason Porsche became his roommate is because he was getting bored in his career working for Tankhun and only having Arm and Pol (who also worked for Khun) for companionship. So he finally allowed sharing his space to happen, accepting that his naked workout sessions would certainly become less frequent.
This is just leading up to the point of my post, actually. Because what I'm getting at is that without Porsche and Pete becoming roommates and clicking so well, VegasPete couldn't have happened. But more importantly, if Pete hadn't allowed that change to happen for himself. He simply got lucky in the fact that he liked Porsche.
From here it's essentially just the domino effects of events:
Porsche begins working at the compound
He becomes roomies (and besties) with Pete
Gun tells Vegas to watch Porsche
Vegas internalizes this as "flirt with Porsche" while continuing to enact his plans with Tawan and the Yakuza
Pete is assigned to follow Vegas on multiple occasions, which Vegas picks up on and takes advantage of the many opportunities to make him squirm deliciously
The Tawan Shit Goes Down
Pete trusts Porsche's innocence and risks his life unveiling Vegas's plans, which gets him captured
Vegas is blacklisted, he tortures Pete and the goes to the safehouse with him
Ensue pressure cooker of The Most Insane Romance In History plot goes down
The rest of canon as follows
The key thing to me is that if Pete hadn't made that one minor change, he likely would never have ended up in that safehouse. The moment he let Porsche in, he was always going to end up there eventually. But the thing that makes his and Vegas's story even better is that he still had to choose Vegas. He had chances to turn away and say no the whole way, and he even does so when he escapes the safehouse! A chain of events may have dictated how he fell for Vegas, but ultimately he chose him anyway.

Moto Dorei Desuga, Oni No Dorei Wo Katte Mitara Seiryoku Ga Tsuyosugiru Node Sutetai... - By Saitou Misaki (8/10)
Tumblr media
Slavery is a hard topic. It's handled ok here. There's no abuse. Our main girl isn't looking for a date. She's trapped in a world she doesn't understand so she needs a guide. One that can't betray her. She takes in a slave for the sake of practicality.
Sora has been stuck in fantasy land since she was 11. She was immediately caught by slavers and sold. She is tiny and weak, and she only recently turned 18. She cannot read or write, and she has no common sense. She has spent most of her time indoors in misery.
Nobody saves her. Sora's master is lazy. He sends her to get registered as an adult, so he can sell her as a prostitute. She goes into the wrong building. There's another Sora on the list, who is scheduled to be released from slavery. Sora takes that chance to escape. She almost dies running away, and she becomes a potion masters apprentice.
She buys a demon because he's cheap. He's an Oni named Liam. He's the ideal partner for a weak potion apprentice. Sora is ready to learn how to live life, but her lack of common sense is...bad...
Sadly that elderly master quickly dies, but then Sora is in a good position. The potion master leaves a bunch of gold coins, clothes and potions behind. She's also a decent potion maker now, and a free woman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everybody is super scared of Liam. Demons are really strong, but they're seen as unlucky. Sora doesn't know why. She assumes it's racist nonsense.
It kinda is butttttt...
Tumblr media
Plot twist it kinda isn't. Demons are not human here. Liam is a pervert by nature, as in he feels compelled to breed as an adult all the time basically. One of his previous masters was a pet owning pervert, but they didn't get along because he didn't enjoy her sadistic fetishes. Oni demons in particular like sex. Plain sex. Sex for the purpose of having children. Liam assumed Sora is a child, because she's small. He had no interest in her, but she's really kind to him. So he gets attached to her. He also masturbates next to her every single night. Sora sort of regrets buying him...
Tumblr media
She tries to sneak away to rethink her purchase. It's waaayyy too late though. When she bought Liam he was scarred, scared and depressed. She healed him with her potions, and before she saw him masturbating they were friends.
Tumblr media
I get why she doesn't fully trust him. I do. Again he's not human. He's weirdly proud of his Oni nature and strength, and that does make some sense. He's skilled with fire magic and he's very strong. I guess his high sex drive is just another part of being an Oni to him. Anyway he can't fuck anyone while he's with Sora. She really does need constant protection, because she has no family at all. This is a pretty gritty fantasy setting with theft, slavery and no special powers. Potion makers are highly useful, but weak. Sora isn't special and she really has been entirely alone for seven years. If my Demon escort told me he's so uncontrollably horny that he has to masturbate for hours every night I would also be suspicious.
Tumblr media
Liam really likes Sora, and it's cute because it's clearly not all sexual. He doesn't look at her in an overly sexual way. She's a nice master and he likes doing regular stuff with her. His other masters just wanted him to bow and do boring shit forever.
Tumblr media
Liam also has awful abandonment issues. Demons can't have that many kids. When a human and a demon have a baby...the baby comes out full demon. That's another reason why humans are kinda freaked out by demons. His mother was also a prostitute, so yeah it looks like free roaming demons do have sex alot. Liams father doesn't know he exists, and his mom didn't want him. Sora's kindness is something he doesn't want to give up on.
Tumblr media
But wait!!! His attachment issues get even worse!!! Liam pretended to be human after his mom died. He became an adventurer. His first ever friends betrayed him. He was doing a mission with them, and during it they made a mistake. The important object they were transporting broke...the team blamed Liam and revealed his demon identity. Then Liam was branded as a criminal and saddled with the debt for that item.
Tumblr media
Liam suspects that she doesn't trust him, so he follows her around at night. He doesn't want her to leave him. The yandere potential is super high. He's really into serving her, and he cries in her arms multiple times after she is kind to him. The setting is above average. Humans don't like demons for actual...reasons?? Like real ones. Like demons are weirdos who only think about impregnating women because of their low fertility and stuff. That'll make you less liked. There's not alot of sexual stuff in this. Liam just seems genuinely devoted to Sora, but if she ever invites him...and I assume she will...he obviously won't say no.

In your AU who is your all time favorite and why?
Anon, I've been thinking about this for hours, I'm NOT joking, This au has been around since 2018, its a very special thing to me, its gotten me personally through ALOT of shit, and its one of Me and Ricks (@galacticaldisaster) first au's/rewrites we've EVER done together, this au short is SO SO important to me which is why its SO HARD just to choose one character, you feel me? On top of that Rick and I try to implement literally EVERYONE into this au, we Cherry-pick from books, we include EVERYONE from AR, there are GENUINELY so many options!
My favorites bounce around alot due to whoever i'm focusing on developing and the likes but i think i've got a solid tie for #1! and ive got reasons for why its a tie :]!
Tumblr media
Chris is my favorite out of all of the characters i've written purely because he makes me very sad, I think i did the best job writing him as a character, hes balanced in the sense that hes a heartbreaking character and yet i think he stays child-like in essence, hes got reason for what he does but he goes about it like a 6 year old would, a very scared 6 year old
Which brings me to my second favorite of all of the characters, Richie. Richie is this au's FNAF 3 Phone dude, I havent really talked about Richie too much, besides the mention from last night. But richie will ALWAYS be on top, mostly because he is the very first character i wrote for this au, WAAAYYY back when i was 15, the very first picture i EVER drew of this au was of Richie Scott, Age 17, Threatening to hit someone with a lightning mcqueen Croc. Richie and Phillip's (@galacticaldisaster s phone guy) whole concept came from a game of Garrys Mod where we were being little idiots and beating the shit out of eachother with fnaf character models! I also just think Richies silly :]
Legally i DO have to give you all my favorite of Ricks characters;
Tumblr media
You all obviously know springtrap/william, absolute motherfucker, but RICK. RICK HAS THE AUDACITY, THE G A L L to both turn him into the saddest dad you've EVER met, and the scariest and i mean, SCARIEST William ive ever read. seriously, dudes believe me, Rick's writing for his devolve from a dad/ business man to murderous deranged killer is GENUINELY my favorite, I've seen alot of interps of william, and maybe im a bit biased, But Ricks is my favorite.
Now Phillip is in the same vein of Richie, hes the phone guy and was made during a game of Gmod via rambling, but Phils character and story is genuinely very very :[ i love him, he is my favorite white boy, Phillip my beloved little corporate slave turned Man Fuck This Place >:,[ i wont talk about his story too much, but its sad, and i fucking adore him and will kill for him
an honorable mention for ricks, who i will not be sharing pictures of is Jeremy Fitzgerald, because rick is the ONLY person i know who has implemented the fact jeremy carved his fucking face off and also once again? i love him. hes a FUCKER.
HONORABLE MENTIONS BELOW CUT!!
my FAVORITE fucker to draw is malhare.
Tumblr media
look at this fucking idiot, i love him, and yet he is ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING. HE IS A MENACE. this guy and his bestie in au is ARE ABSOLUTE FREAKS. FUCK UP YOUR LIFE FLAVORED FREAKS!!
annnnndd currently my favorite character to write for is Vanny and the Tape girl (Delilah!) :]
Tumblr media
i will not be giving context to this image :]

Fic Writer 20 Questions
Tagged by @luredin. Thank you!
How many works do you have on AO3?
49. which is insane to me. especially if you consider that 10 of those are actually 24 fic(let)s in one
What's your total AO3 word count?
360,722
What fandoms do you write for?
Whichever bug bites me. But the major ones are Hawaii Five-0 and Starsky & Hutch.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I Would Break Into Your House Just To Put Sugar In Your Tea (H50)
think about how good these seeds have sown (H50)
If You're Waiting On Me You're Backin' Up (I'm Way In Over My Head In Love) (H50)
unfortunately, Hands (House MD) (me and Hands have a contentious relationship. many of my friends could tell you of it. i long for the day i knock it out of top 5)
Not A Booty Call (Suits)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Not usually :(. I used to respond to all of them, but then it was making me stressed out about doing it, so I made a conscious decision that i did not have to do that and now I only respond to the occasional one that I actually have a response for other than 'thank you [heart emojis]'
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
oh my dude. do i... do that? do I have literally any that fit that criteria? maybe To Love (Verb, Transitive) (S&H), although that should tell you how incredibly unangsty most of my endings are.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Happiest, as opposed to fluffiest. hm. different criteria. I think happiest might be either If You're Gonna Do It, Do It Right (which is actually one of my angstiest fics in its body) or I Would Break Into Your House (both H50). Or Come Take The Wheel (S&H). Or Smarties Cookies (Non-Violent) (Leverage), which literally ends with the word 'happy'. as you can tell, this is much more up my alley.
Do you get hate on fics?
I do not, although I did get a comment waaayyy back in 2013 which funnily did not mention my actual writing, which was terrible, my being 13 and only writing for a year, but did tell me that the premise of my fic was out of character. it's possible that contributed to why i'm now borderline spiteful about making fics in character.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yeah. Not a lot, but yeah. is bdsm/bdsm-overtoned a kind? That. Sometimes with feelings sometimes not particularly, but if it's with feelings it will be a truly stupid amount of feelings.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not for years, but my very first multi-chapter >10k fic was BBC Sherlock/Doctor Who crossover. it was 2014. don't look at me.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
...yeah. Avengers crack!fic. the only fic from pre-2017 I'm happy to link, bc pure crack doesn't care about how good your writing is.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
Look. I would be a liar if I said anything other than Steve/Danny. Other ships may come and go but these fucked up obliviously married certified Dad™ middle-aged white guy cops made a permanent and large imprint on my mind and there are entire worm colonies living in that imprint.
What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
The long Suits season 8 canon divergence fic, where Harvey's mother dies a season earlier than in canon and Mike flies back to help him through it. The first two chapters are literally like, 100 words away from being finished, so it's possible that if I ever feel the urge to watch Suits again I will drum up a truncated third chapter and post it but. it's also very possible I will not. There's a 5+1 Geraskier fic it would've been nice to finish too, but I don't ever see that happening.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, humour, emotional description that's just enough to the left of normal analogies that it makes you actually stop and think about/feel it. Occasionally, punch-to-the-gut-with-softness lines.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Physical description, good lord. Especially of settings. Having any reasonable idea of how long a fic is going to be. Actually doing the work of writing in between the times where the words just spontaneously appear in my head. Not as relevant for fic as for original work, but calculating how much backstory readers actually need.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I don't know that I've ever really done it in fic, other than the occasional Yiddish word for Jewish characters, but I am doing it a little bit in my novel WIP, bc 2.5 of my MCs are Latinx and occasionally speak Spanish with each other. I think it's fine in moderate doses, assuming the characters actually would be using it, but that it should follow the same rules as pop culture references: either the meaning is broadly deducible from context, or it's not either vital to the plot or hugely disruptive of flow if you don't understand it. Also if it's anything more than single words you should probably get someone who actually speaks the language to check it for you.
First fandom you wrote for?
...BBC Sherlock
Favorite fic you've ever written?
can i say a wip. my spouse/neurological infection state of disrepair. but okay no in posted fics... ykw even though it's a fandom i am off and on with, and mostly off, and currently off, When You're Loving Me (That's When I'm Loving You) (NCIS: LA) is a solid contender. But I also am quite happy with I Would Break Into Your House being my top kudosed, I think it deserves it.

*crashes in here* ok ik i havent been here in a bajillion years and i am so sorry for that and unloading a small novel on you dgkdgkh
but i had the dumbest thought. imagine tryna teach the sanderson's modern stuff. cuz i just saw a selfship post that said something along the lines of studying with your fo (fictional other. like a significant other, but its a fictional character instead of an actual human sgshdh) and now all i can think about is attempting to teach winnie, mary, and sarah all the stuff ive learned over the years
im not sure who'd find which subjects the most interesting. i dont have any art textbooks but i do have some notes from art history and waaayyy too many art supplies and i'd be happy to teach mary and sarah about art history and how to use some of the things i have (assuming i remember how to use thems). i think winnie would be fascinated by science! theres some branches of it like chemistry that feel a lot like magic, but i.... dont have access to things like that nor the smarts to even attempt to do chem (i do have access to vids so theres that at least), so it'd be hard to teach her that. i do have some anatomy and biology books that i think she'd like, and i have so many space books and i am dying to share them with all three of them holy dhit.
as for history, i think all three of them would be fascinated by it. theres been so many things that have happened since they died the first time around as well as so much that happened before they were born or happened when they were young but on the other side of the world.
plus, maybe some of what im talking to them about would help stick in my own brain easier so thats a bonus!
I am SO SORRY I'm answering this right now, but the past few weeks have been hectic to say the least 😭 I started Swedish clases lol.
Anyway YES I AGREE Mary but Sarah especially would be so interested in art methinks. Actually I believe Sarah is interested in fashion in some way (I hc that she made her own clothes and helped make Winnie's gown). And YES Winnie is so woman in STEM to me 😩 however I failed Chemistry every single year of high school lol BUT I was top of my class on Biology 😎 and actually think Sarah and Mary would be interested in Biology, although for different reasons (one for cooking and the other well... torture 😅).
OH YEAH HISTORY THAT'S SO FUN I think maybe they have an interest in different eras, Mary is definitely more of a contemporary girl (the way she picks up modern slang??? Scary). Winnie might be obsessed with the British Royal Family ngl 😭 I wonder what she'll think of Princess Diana. Now Sarah I'm not sure what she would enjoy from History 🤔 I mean ig fashion history or something idk 😭😭😭
ALSO ACTUALLY I REMEMBER WATCHING AN ALCHEMY VIDEO and it's pretty much Chemistry so. I think Mary would enjoy Chemistry too but maybe a different branch. Medicinal Chemistry perhaps? While Winnie is more of a Environmental Chemistry girl (since she literally can shoot lightning from her fingers I wouldn't be surprised she wanted to make a contraption to... Idk shoot fire as hot as the fucking sun)

My one (and only) post about That '90s Show
I used the weekend to watch season 1 of That '90s Show. I ultimately decided to watch it for Red and Kitty, and because I couldn't justify forming an opinion without having first given the show a chance. That being said, as most of my thoughts about the show aren't the most positive, and because I want to respect the fans who enjoyed the show, I decided to compile what will likely be my one and only post sharing my thoughts on the show below the cut.
I will say this: I didn't hate the show as much as I thought I would. I enjoyed the humor and the effort they made to maintain a similar tone and vibe to the original show. Of course, Red and Kitty were the highlight of the show, and I enjoyed seeing them as grandparents. I enjoyed seeing the appearances made by the original cast as well (with the exception of Jackie, but more on that later). I even enjoyed seeing Eric and Donna as parents. The new kids were okay, too. They certainly don't have the same chemistry and dynamic that the gang from the original series had, but when you are limited to ten episodes per season, there's not much you can do to really develop characters and their relationships. With more time and devotion to developing these characters, I believe that I could grow to like them more.
The problems that I had with the show are the exactly the problems that I expected to have, and it all stems from the very existence of season 8 of That '70s Show. I do not consider the end of season 7 and any of season 8 to be canon. In my happy bubble, Jackie and Hyde never break up (or make any of the other poor choices that followed), Eric didn't have to travel across the world and break-up with Donna to find a path for his future, Kelso didn't destroy his future as a cop, and Fez didn't become a creep. I grew up with these characters, consider them my friends, and hate what season 8 did to my friends. (I care waaayyy too much about these fictional characters, but I digress.)
Therefore, I've never entertained the idea of a reboot/spin-off series because I knew better than to hope that a spin-off series would ignore season 8. A spin-off that would've attempted to fix these mistakes, while just as unlikely, still wouldn't have been good enough (for me, at least) because I like to pretend all of that unpleasantness never even happened.
Real world circumstances made me even more wary of a spin-off series. AK and MK being married in real life was a sure sign that Jackie and Hyde would never get back together in a spin-off series. But the real nail in the coffin was the despicable and unforgivable actions of DM. With that, I knew Jackie and Hyde were essentially over and we would never see Hyde again. (Don't get me wrong, I am more than relieved that T9S does not associate with DM, but the loss of the character Hyde was tough for me).
So really, it's not entirely That '90s Show's fault that the futures that I had hoped for these characters was unrealized. However, there is a difference between not getting what I want for these characters and completely disrespecting and destroying these characters who are beloved to me (and so many others who have connected with them for years and years). I would've accepted whatever future T9S offered for these characters had they done it in a way that respected the growth and development that they made in the '70s. Jackie being with Kelso instead of Hyde? Fine. But give me a good reason for it. Not the absolute garbage that is Jackie cheating on Fez with Kelso (of all people!) and going on their second marriage. Eric and Donna having a child (and naming her Leia) essentially as soon as Eric came home from Africa is just not something I believe the Eric and Donna from T7S would have done. (I do however, accept this with a grain of salt, because the entire premise of T9S hinges on Eric and Donna have a teenager in the '90s). While Fez finding success in his salons was cute, him not having found love since Jackie cheated on him also didn't sit right with me. And while the best choice...the only choice was to not include Hyde, what I've read about the decision to have Hyde basically drop off the face of the Earth and cut off all ties to his found family is probably the most disrespectful thing that they could have done to write off his character. All that is to say, I could've taken anything except the blatant disrespect that they gave to my friends.
What I wasn't expecting was the sense of heartache that I would feel watching That '90s Show. As I previously stated, for years now, I never held out for a faithful reboot/spin-off series. But watching this show...it really makes me mourn the spin-off that could've been in a perfect world. I truly loved seeing Red and Kitty navigate a household of teenagers again, but this time as grandparents. My heart squeezed when Kitty hugged Eric in the first episode and when Donna and Eric did that cute head-shove from the original series. I couldn't help the smile when Kelso burst in with a "buuuurnnn!!!" in true Kelso-fashion after all these years. Fez's "I said good-day" in his commercial and rivalry with Fenton. Kitty throwing a birthday party. Red's grumpiness. Kitty's signature laugh and Red's muttered "dumbass" comments. I've seen every episode of T7S (with the exception of season 8) so many times that I have entire episodes memorized, down to the timing, hand gestures, and inflections. So seeing my old friend's back in their elements, doing these things again but in new scenes that I have never seen before was certainly... surreal. But none of that nostalgia is worth letting T9S destroy my friends and destroy all their growth and character development. All it has done is make me mourn the faithful spin-off that will never be.
All that is to say that I think I'll be leaving the ''90s behind and returning to the safety of the '70s.

Can you do BoB boy(s) of choice for the idea of them and their crush running into the reader's ex who she broke up with before the war and clearly wants her back?
Always Best to Believe in One's Self
Bill Guarnere x reader
A/N: I saw a dealer's choice prompt and immediately got waaayyy too carried away with it at four am. I decided to go with Guarnere because he's my favorite, and I can't believe I haven't written something for him yet. Thanks for the request, anon, and I hope you like it 💕 (This is written for the fictional depiction from the show. Absolutely no disrespect to the real life veterans!)
Warnings: war, sexism, a badly written kiss scene (I think that's it)
Tumblr media
Everything that happened since Doc Roe handed out the airsickness pills has been a blur. You can remember squeezing the hands of your friends as you lined up, remember the muttered prayers as the plane took off, hearing the air crackle and pop with fire from the Luftwaffe, and even the icy drop as you hurled yourself out of the plane and your static-line unhooked. Hitting the ground is a disorienting affair, and when you realize that you made the jump of a lifetime and made it, adrenaline makes your heart race like machinegun fire.
You blink, trying to orient yourself in the inky night around you. Other men are landing, some cursing, some letting out small sighs of relief, and some -- you close your eyes to avoid seeing the terrible sight -- are getting tangled up in trees.
A few feet away, you see a figure land lightly on the ground. You would know that silhouette anywhere; the sight is so comforting that you're almost thankful for all of Sobel's nighttime marches and drills.
Bill's soft cursing as he removes his parachute spurs you into action. You're by his side in a second, and when he sees you, his hands immediately caress your face in the darkness. "(Y/N), are you okay?"
Whatever has been going on between the two of you has been simmering since you first arrived in Toccoa. Now, the cocktail of adrenaline, whatever was in that medicine, and fear has brought it to a boil. (All that, and what Bill had said right before you boarded the plane. Right after you thought you . . . Nevermind. Not here.)
You kiss him then, in the middle of the field you've landed in, before you can lose your nerve and before you can lose each other in this unfamiliar place. Because anything can happen in the unknown, in this shaky, scary place.
But Bill is firm. Despite the grief and the anger that have clung to him since he opened that letter, he's solid. And he's here.
"Yes. Are you?" You ask when you break the kiss.
His smile is like a star in the darkness. "Well if I wasn't before, I sure am now."
--
If you thought jumping out of the plane was frightening, nothing prepares you for anything that happens next. And this time, you see it all, remember it all, without the loopiness that accompanies the airsickness pills to dull any of it.
When the airsickness pills have worn off, there's nothing to dull the slap in the face that is finding out you won't be taking Brécourt Manor . . . but that Bill will be.
"You're needed for an . . . alternative assignment," Nixon explains as you're led away from the rest of the company and into the town.
"Let me guess."
"I'm sorry, (Y/N). But they need you."
The urge to roll your eyes and sigh is strong, but you manage to hold it in. This is the price you pay for being one of the first female paratroopers. Hell, they told you it would be this way the minute you were accepted into the program.
Being one of the only women makes you stand out. It means that many of the men take a liking to you just because you're one of the only women that they've seen in a long time -- just like how many of them instantly fall in love with their nurses in the hospitals. But for many men, you present them with a challenge. And when morale is running low, that means the female soldiers find themselves making the rounds, always smiling, always with a positive attitude, always acting like nothing is wrong, so that the men -- not wanting to be outdone by a woman -- will raise their morale. "The kick in the pants that they need to get back into action," Colonel Sink had once explained to you.
You almost berate yourself. You shouldn't complain -- not when you just survived the jump. And besides, it'll be a distraction until the rest of Easy gets back.
And distraction is exactly what you find.
Men from other companies call out greetings to your familiar face as you walk among them, offering to help scrounge up supplies, or even just to help soldiers who are trying to find their friends. It's kind of nice, to have so many people know who you are and smile when they see you. If that's what Judy Garland or Rita Hayworth feel like all the time, then maybe acting could be your post-war career.
But someone isn't smiling at you. You can feel it the minute that he notices you. The shock, the disbelief as you carefully avoid looking anywhere but him as you greet men and offer words of encouragement. And when you finally step into an empty barn to take a break from the spotlight and catch your breath, he's definitely not smiling when he steps into the building behind you.
"I thought it was you," James says. James, who you never thought that you would have the displeasure of seeing again.
You don't speak. What is there to say, after all? You keep your back to him, facing the wall.
After an awkward moment, he clears his throat, and the sound sets you on edge the way the sound of silverware rubbing together does. "You, uh . . . You look good, (Y/N). I'm glad to see you."
"Thanks."
Another moment of silence, this time broken by a sigh. "You not glad to see me?"
"Why would I be?" You turn to face him just in time to see the surprise that flickers across his face. "We broke up, remember?" He starts to sputter out a response, but something hot is boiling in your chest that you just can't let rest. "'Glad to see me'. That's rich. You didn't even want me here."
"Oh, come on --"
"No," you snap. "I had the opportunity to be one of the first female paratroopers, and you told me not to take it, because 'the war wouldn't be the place for me'."
"I was trying to protect --"
"Yeah, well, you should have supported me instead. You should have believed in me." It's like the air has been sucked out of the barn. It's dry and hot and hard to breathe, all the dust and left-over animal smells coating your throat. All those words you should have thrown at him back home tumble out so hot, and the atmosphere of the barn is so dry, that it feel like a flame could catch and send the whole place up in flames.
"When I enlisted, I wrote you letters," James says finally. "You never replied. Finally, your mother wrote me back, saying that you had become a paratrooper and to stop trying to contact you." His voice softens, and so do his eyes. "I was so afraid for you. At my camp, I looked everywhere for you, but never found you among the female troopers. And then yesterday, before the jump, I could have sworn that I saw you."
It had been him, then. The all too familiar face that you thought you saw before getting on the plane. Right after you talked to Bill . . .
"(Y/N)," James says, dragging your attention back into the moment. "I'm sorry. For everything. And I just thought . . . Both of us surviving the jump and ending up here -- I don't know -- feels like a sign."
The last time you had seen James, you had told him about how you had the chance to be a paratrooper, and how you wanted to take it. He had told you war wasn't the place for you -- for a woman.
"But I believe in this cause!" You had argued. "I believe I can do it!"
"Well, maybe you should believe in it in the way other women do," he had suggested. "By volunteering to roll band-aids for the Red Cross, or by being a nurse."
The memory leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Knowing that someone you love doesn't believe in you is one of the worst feelings in the world.
But there is someone who believes in you -- someone you love -- and that knowledge is like a small flame that warms your chest, coming straight from your heart.
The previous night, before seeing James in the crowd, before getting on the plane, Bill had pulled you aside. He wore his grief like a heavy coat. You had heard about the letter he found talking about his brother's death. Bill Guarnere, tough as nails, wanted to talk about his feelings with you of all people, you had assumed, almost flattered.
His bottom lip had been chapped from where he had been chewing it. "I gotta tell ya something."
"Okay."
"This whole thing with my brother . . . Death can get anyone. You don't think it can, and then it does. And that makes you wonder, who will it take next?" His eyes had roamed the airfield, flicking between your friends, the planes, the sky, and finally, you. "I need you to know something before we get on that plane and jump."
You had never seen Bill look nervous before. He was one of the bravest and most upbeat men you had ever met, and something about the way that sadness shadowed his eyes looked unnatural on him.
"I love you, (Y/N). I want you to know that, in case something happens."
You had clutched his hand in yours, trying to anchor him. What could you say, to a confession like that? I love you, I love you. "I love you too. And nothing is going to happen to us, because we're too stubborn to let it."
His laugh had been loud, but it was muffled by the unmistakable lump in his throat. "I know that. We're gonna make it. I believe that with all my heart."
Feels like a sign my ass, you think, glaring at James.
"No," you say firmly.
"What?"
"If it's a sign, then it's one that you were wrong," you spit the words like machinegun fire, and they do their job; he looks like he's been hit.
His eyes widen with the initial shock. You narrow yours in response. You grew up with James, know his weaknesses, where the chinks in his armor hide. For all his bravado, he's easy to intimidate when you set your mind to it . . . You've just never tried it before.
He fumbles. "There's someone else, isn't there?"
You nod. If he's suggesting that your love for someone else is the only reason that you don't want to give him another chance, he's wrong. You're about to tell him so when he scoffs.
"Does he believe in you, (Y/N)?"
"Yes," a familiar voice says from the doorway of the barn. "And I have from the second I saw her."
"Who the hell are you?"
Bill stands tall as he strides into the barn, straight passed James and to your side. "I could ask you the same question. Why are you botherin' my girl?"
James splutters. "Your girl?"
"That's right." Bill nods. "And for the record, she's just as capable, if not more so, of being a paratrooper than half the men I've met during this war. You better believe that, pal."
Poor, easily intimidated James looks between the two of you. His eyes plead with you. They look innocent enough, but you've come to know the anger that lives there.
"James," you say. "If this is a sign, then it's one that you better get lost."
Before becoming a paratrooper, you never would have been able to speak to him that way. But now, after all you've seen, it's as easy as talking to one of the men in your company. There's been a change in you, and James must see it, because he finally nods once to you, once to Bill, and then storms out of the barn.
You both physically relax once he goes. Bill claps you on the back the way he used to after a successful run up Currahee. (Back when he used to have to look for excuses to be close to you, to touch you.)
"Your girl?" You ask once you feel like you've caught your breath.
"Yeah, well --" Bill shrugs. "-- I confessed my love for you, you macked one on me after the jump . . . I kind of thought we had a thing." He raises an eyebrow in that way he's always done when he's teasing you. It's always made your heart pound, but now even more so.
You punch his arm good-naturedly -- just like you used to back in Toccoa when you were just as busy trying to find ways to be close to him -- before pressing yourself into his side. The move makes it feel official, somehow.
"Hmm. Actually, I think it's more that you're my boy," you tease, raising an eyebrow in a half-hearted impression of him. "And you better believe that."

I know Reze is probably coming back but I don't think she's ultimately gonna take Asa's spot. Fujimoto has made waaayyy too many fucking parallels between Denji and Asa and made their dynamic too complex for them not to get together or share some kind of mutual romance at some point

But How Did It Get A Show So Fast?
Seriously though, Fourth Wing got a show waaayyy too fast.
For context, Fourth Wing came out on May 2, 2023.
Iron Flame came out on October 31st, 2023.
(Which, the books being released so close together is already astounding, making me wonder if Yarros already planned a second book or if she just rushed it. (The rushed idea would be weak though, given how big the book is, even if the plotline was extremely basic))
And the earliest article I could find is from Her Campus, published on November 16, 2023, talking about an earlier post from Variety (which I couldn't find) that talks about the book becoming a movie.
Also, as I read on the article, the entire book series was already being auctioned off to production companies before the first book was even released.
It's insane how this series has gotten so much popularity.
(I'm gonna go on an opinion rant below the cut, so read at your own discretion. And don't say shit unless it's constructive.)
Holy shit there's 3 more books on the way?
Why?
Just make it a trilogy and be done my god.
Just tie up the lose ends with Xaden becoming a Venin, fix the statue, figure out the entire corrupted kingdom thing, fix it, then have a few more sex scenes cause those seem important for some reason. (And I guess fix shit with Dain?)
Y'know what's stupid?
I found this book in the fantasy section.
Not the fantasy-romance section. (which is a nice thing to have in libraries)
And for those places that don't have fantasy-romance sections, I've read plenty of fantasy world books that have romance in them in the fucking romance section.
I FOUND A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES IN THE ROMANCE SECTION ONCE! (it was 1 library, but still)
The reason I read this series is that I've become invested. I found the first book and got the second as a gift. And the reason I don't read book in order anymore is to stop myself from becoming invested but here I fucking am I guess.
Look, the series is ok. I wouldn't read a shit book. But it's just so..... basic....
The plot points are predictable, there are several parts where it just doesn't make sense to include them or you can't understand what's really going on, and so many characters we're suppose to care about haven't been fleshed out enough to even glance at!
The romance was predictable as well. (I will say, the dragon sex leading to horny feelings was not expected though. Made me a little uncomfy, but it's whatev I guess.)
Also, and this might just be me, but people falling in love because they are being forced to have to keep tabs on each other or be close to each other or make sure the other doesn't die is just not a fun trope for me. It just makes me feel like the feelings are forced, and I don't like that. (I yet again bring up the horny dragons, cause like.... ew)
I guess the sex scenes are well written. It's strange that they take up so many pages, but if I'm in a mood, I get a well written scene I guess. (Although, I do like the writing of A Court of Mist and Fury on sex scenes because they aren't super long but they have plenty of detail. (I haven't read any of the other books in that series, so idk how the scenes are in those.))
*sigh*
It's an ok book.
And if you like it you like it.
I won't hate you for that.
But I'm gonna hate the book.
Because while it does have dragons
And fight scenes.
It's a fucking fantasy-romance, not a fantasy book.
And it can be done in 3 books.
And the series is probably gonna flop. (just an honest opinion)
Now, I've used all my energy making a rant nobody is gonna read, I'm gonna go sleep cause college stresses me out.
Have a good day.
And have a fun time reading.

Hii could u do a Alex Jones fix where the reader and him are having a game night or something lol.The rest is up to you <3
Game Night | Alex Jones/Barry Milland & GenderNeutral!Reader (Platonic)
Hi there! Aw, yes! Thanks for the request, I really hope you like this story. :')
summary; Barry and you are having a game night, like every week.
notes; Gender Neutral!Reader; Platonic Relationship; Friendship; Fluff; Game Night; Post-Canon (like, waaayyy after the movie).
Once every week or two, Barry would stay over at your place for the weekend, starting on Friday evening. Friday nights were game nights. And Barry always got to choose what games you played because he was the guest. That was a rule you had set up early on. It actually made him quite eager to be able to say what you would play. He always thought about it all week long.
This time, the two of you started with a classic game of Memory. You bought one that was all about cars because Barry was so interested in those. He was very excited about that. You cared so much about him. He knew that. Even when you didn’t say it, he still knew it because you showed it in all kinds of ways. This being one of them.
When he found another pair right away, you groaned in frustration. He couldn’t help the small smile that spread across his face. He tried to hide it with the two cards in his hands.
“Seriously, it’s not fair. You’ve got such a good memory!” you exclaimed, pouting. He didn’t know whether or not it was genuine. Sometimes you played these things up.
Shrugging, he put the cards on his pile. He didn’t know what to say. He had a good memory, he knew that. But it had nothing to do with fairness in a game all about it, right? And you weren’t bad at it either, just not as good as he was.
Turning over two cards that didn’t match, you put them back with a heavy sigh.
“I bet you’ll get those now, too,” you muttered.
Cautiously he looked at you. It was hard for him to decipher if he should stop and let you win or not.
But then you smiled at him, which relaxed him significantly.
“I’m kidding, Barry. It’s all good. Sorry,” you said, raising your hands in a placating manner, “The game just got to me.”
“It’s okay,” he responded before turning over two cards that matched, one of which was indeed the one you had just messed up.
Elongating a groan, you crossed your arms and let yourself fall back into your chair with a loud thud.
“Let’s play something else, please,” you said, pouting once again. Now he knew that it wasn’t completely serious at least. So he allowed himself to smile.
“Jenga?” he asked, gathering all the cards on the kitchen table together and putting them back into the box.
“Yep, I can do that at least,” you chuckled, getting up to get out your game of Jenga. “Come on. We should play that in the living room.”
Following you there, you both sat down on the carpet in the middle of the room.
Then you carefully turned the box upside down and made sure the tower stayed in place when you lifted the carton off of it.
“You start,” Barry said, looking at you expectantly.
“How generous of you after you just ruined me completely.” You laughed, which assured him even more that you weren’t actually mad at him for that. And then you chose the first piece from the very top. That was a very safe choice. “I know, I’m boring. Don’t even say it. Your turn!”
Barry was more daring than you were and took one block from the middle, carefully pulling it out. The tower shook a little but didn’t fall, luckily.
This went on for a little while, until eventually, it was his turn again and his risk-taking made the tower fall. It wasn’t very loud, though, thanks to the carpet. He understood why you had insisted on that now. He was so sensitive to loud noises after all. That was nice of you.
“Okay, do you wanna try again or play something else?” you asked, once you were done cheering over his failure. It made him smile. He knew it was all in good fun.
“Hmmm, could we play Go Fish?” he inquired after a few moments. He had thought of so many different games all week long, he could barely decide on something anymore.
“Sure thing! I might actually have a chance to beat you there,” you chuckled heartily, putting the blocks back into the box. “Do you wanna stay on the floor or rather the kitchen table again?”
“The floor is fine,” Barry answered, nodding for emphasis.
Then you got up, put the box back where it was and pulled out a deck of cards.
While you played Go Fish, both of you had even more fun than you already did all evening long. You were laughing a lot and he couldn’t help but let out a few soft chuckles himself. He didn’t remember when he might have laughed the last time, but he felt like it was when he was a child. That was a reason why those evenings were so important to him. They put you both at ease after a long week.
At last, Barry won the game.
“Honestly, I have no idea what I expected to happen,” you said, letting your full hand of cards fall to the floor.
Chuckling, Barry shrugged, “It’s just luck.”
“Yeah, looks like I’ve run out of that,” you sighed playfully and smiled at him, “Looks like luck is on your side, though. You deserve it, Barry. I hope you know that.”
Looking down at his lap, he didn’t know what to say. Did he really deserve it? Why did he get so lucky now after- He didn’t want to think about that.
“Thanks,” he simply responded after a few more moments passed.
“Well! I think those were enough games for tonight, huh? Maybe we should watch a movie now or whatever you have in mind that isn’t me losing another game,” you said, while you gathered the cards together. He nodded in agreement and helped you, trying to think of a movie to watch with you. After all, you always let him choose that, too.
In the end, he settled on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It’s been one of his favourites ever since he was a child.
On your couch, the two of you sat down shoulder to shoulder, watching the film in comfortable silence, simply enjoying each other’s company. He really liked sharing these things and spending his weekends with you.
The therapist he was seeing now said that it would help him make progress to spend more time with other people that weren’t his parents. By now, he agreed.

Ranking who I KNOW I can seduce in BTS least to most likely Context: I'm THICK big butt, big boobs yummy thighs straight smile and round face. That's what we're working with lets get into it! Least- Jimin! While I think Jimin would be very attracted to me I think I'd spend too much time psychoanalyzing him, definitely a turnoff! Jimin and I would more quicker become long term confidantes than ever romp around in the sheets. Cute face though, maybe an accidental makeout once or twice? J-Hope- Jhope is not a one night stand type of deal to me idk. I think I'd be too in awe to even try to seduce him and if he paid attention to me I'd probably be too focused on something more long term that I'd forget all about the seduction mission. Also I think he'd find me a little exhausting lmao SeokJin- Love of my life jin please I need him so bad and that would be my downfall. He would know by one look in my eye how BAD I want the dick and I think that would be a big turn off for him. I think he'd enjoy toying with me for months on end but would never give me what I want.
Yoongi- Yoongi and I have def made out a couple of times but the friendship is so good that fucking seems off the table. I think we'd have too many deep convos about our lives and what we want in life that sex would seem like something almost too intimate to share after all that mental intimacy if that makes sense?
JungKook- I think I could pull JK! He's sexy and all but I am too lmao! I also think seducing JK is much more about the chill approach. coming over and playing video games, buying him a stuffed animal that reminded you of him. texting him only on occasion. Just giving him space to trust me and like me and he'll be knocking on my door begging within mm a month?
Namjoon- All I gotta do is be 1/10th of a natutally charming person to namjoon, not be an ignoramus, and continue to have big boobs and an ass and namjoon is in the bag. Maybe we'd spend a few days getting to know each other but he doesn't seem like he'd waste much time once he trusts that you're not a fuckin weirdo Taehyung- Not to double down on the taehyung easy train but you're absolutely right compliments and some expressive faces and he's done for. And as someone who has seduced someone without speaking their native tongue it's really not gone take much. Taehyung likes loving and being loved and I'm readTEE to give it to him.
SEE NOW those are different parameters than i allowed myself to operate within like i was thinking more like i meet you at a bar and decide i want you who am i taking home tonight but what you're getting at is WAAAYYY different bc give me some time and i 100% can have my pick of the litter bc my personality is a 12/10
but before i dive back into that lemme first say that you may be onto something with seokjin bc like i said before we got the same personality type and i literally did that to like 2 guys this past year ajsksjjwje but in my defense!!!! im on the spectrum so it wasn’t on purpose i just didn’t realize they liked me until i had already hurt they feelings LOL
ALSO that makes perfect sense for yoongi being so mentally and emotionally intertwined that you end up in that friend purgatory bc you’re afraid to change the nature of your relationship it’s textbook really
NOW who could i seduce HOLISTICALLY from least to most likely since that's the trend i started with that one actually i'm gonna do who would be the easiest to seduce from ltm and i'm forcing myself to do a spark notes version to save you from another one of my dissertations that nobody asked for
i’m keeping jin at 7 bc like i said unseduceable (we’d end up a nice lil nuclear family with 2 kids and a dog)
i’m dropping yoongi down to 6 bc that’s my twin flame and i feel like if i gave him too much time to think he’d talk himself out of it
i’m keeping hobi at 5 bc we’re endgame like we’d def have a good mix of 2seok and sope energy im his lil rain cloud and he’d be my sunshine we’d make rainbows together <3 but i’d have to give him the space to come to this conclusion on his own
dropping jimin to 4 bc he’s another one who would try to talk himself out of it but he’d be super curious about the possibilities(we’re playing the long game)
joonie would drop down to number 3 but only bc
jk would be number 2 like give me a month and i’d have that boy eating out the palm of my hands like we fr fr have too much in common and don’t have similar sense of humour i got that whole tsundere thing going on im so certain he wouldn’t be able to resist me like he’d talk himself INTO it bc he thinks we’re written in the stars or something (we’re not) but i’d let him think we were (¯\_(ツ)_/¯ he’s hot)
then tae stands at number 1 for previously mentioned reasons

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what originally got you into Hatstache? (If you ever answered this before, I am so sorry)
anon firstly i'm so sorry according to tumblr this ask has been sitting here since october 6th. i keep looking at it trying to word my thoughts and then telling myself ill answer it later and then... not doing that. lol
i got into ahit waaayyy back in 2019, when the fandom was mostly saturated with snatcher content at the time (people who have been following me since then probably remember that i hated him for like a solid two years just because he was everywhere lol). i remember very distinctly feeling very dissatisfied with how the game treated and wrote off mu after seeing her storybook, and i couldn't really find any postgame content that gave her a happy ending that i felt personally satisfied with. i ended up finding the hatstache tag on ao3 completely by chance trying to find that postgame content i wanted only to find that there were exactly two fics (neither of which i will not mention out of respect/not wanting that tied to my blog) that did not appeal to me for reasons lol.
the concept of it really stuck with me, though, even if i didn't find anything to fuel it with at the time. i like relationships where people who are hurting/have hurt each other work through it. and i am someone who looks way too into every little detail of everything, ever, and its always felt like mu both holds hk in a very high regard+was very hurt by her actions throughout the same. (see: dialogue+cut dialogue, graffiti around the game, the finale+mu's dialogue before it, the paintings, hk's 'betrayal', etc). paired with what little official content we did get of them being friends (postgame? maybe?) and it was a natural progression ehe
but even then i didn't actually feel super strong about it for a while. it was mostly just thoughts like 'damn, wish we got more content of them interacting' and 'it would be cute if mu had a little crush on hk without realizing'. i didn't actually get super passionate about it until i started writing the original version of twtt that summer/autumn (known as a crack in time at that point), and i only really wrote the ship in because 1.) i thought it would add some flavor and 2.) it made me really sad that there weren't too many options for people who wanted to read a hatstache fic at the time. and even then...
Tumblr media

... it wasn't actually endgame. woah woah if you follow me for twtt please for the love of god put the pitchforks down they're endgame now and that's what matters. the story to twtt was significantly more different than it was now, but by the time i had actually wrote hatstache in, the ending i had planned for it was pretty bittersweet. it was just something i wanted to explore in my own self-indulgent way (as i always do ehe), and i was working through some stuff with my own sexuality and relationships at the time, so... yeah. threw it in for spice :D
then i started actually writing it and i just instantly fell in love with their dynamic and just how well their characterization worked with each other. i tend to write them as characters who come off as opposites at first interaction but are very similar at the core and that just makes them bounce off of each other really well. i got attached really fast, and as the story went down a totally different path than i originally expected, i was incapable of letting it go. it really just kind of worked its way into my heart. and the more i analyzed things and learned about the game and all of the little stuff hidden within/cut out, the more it seared itself into my brain until i was like... damn. i understand why they call it an otp now because i would go down with it. even when i trashed acit and took my year-and-a-half break from the fandom, hatstache was just a dynamic that lived in my head rent free.
it has a really special place in my heart because it is, in a way, what pushed me to start writing again and really exploring what i was capable of with my writing, too. and again its just a dynamic that i think can be explored in so many different wonderful ways. despite it all i want them to be happy and by god they will be... eventually :)
i guess basically to answer your question i just kind of wrote myself into it... but i hope you enjoyed my little trip down memory lane+some history behind the creation of twtt (there's a lot of it)
thank you for asking <3

Ok, finished the season 😁
SPOILERS AHEAD
Still processing of course. I expected that ending and I’m glad we got to that point now. The show could end here (despite the Sara cliffhanger).
I’m still miffed that August and Sara were the main couple this season. It didn’t work for so many reasons. Obviously they were so supposed to be an unhealthy couple, I get that. But I feel Sara downplayed her role in all of this waaayyy too much. She did a lot of the thing she did in order to fit in at hillerska, and to have the same experiences the other girls were talking about. SHE was the one expecting August to come clean, he never said that. She willingly lied to Simon and Felice for months in order to keep meeting August. I understand she might not always be able to look at things from different perspectives, but she knew when to lie in order to protect herself. I was absolutely with Felice and what she said in the end there.
Also, if we’re to believe what Sara said in ep 6, that was she was in love with him, then the writing really didn’t do a great job of showing that. Nor for August, for that matter. These two got more screentime than anyone else this season and yet the steps from f*ckbuddy/secret keeper to actual feelings were badly developed. In one scene August was laughing at her attempts to kiss him and be physical because he clearly wasn’t into her, in the next scene it’s suddenly „I need someone to talk to/So it’s not just about the sex?“. How??
Now about the triangle. I’m sure it’s what most fans will focus on, but I thought it made sense. In every scene between Marcus and Simon, we could see how torn Simon was, how all he wanted was to heal his own broken heart and he thought he could do it this way. Hell, he even told Wille that! I don’t have much of an opinion on Marcus, we never knew enough about him tbh.
Oh, but sooo many good scenes too 😭 Wille drawing Simon‘s attention to his new haircut in ep 1 was a hilarious/heartbreaking highlight. Simon saying that the fish don’t have names. Every time Simon sang. The library scene in episode one where you could practically hear the boys‘ hearts breaking with every word. Simon going after Wille during the ball. Wille closing the curtains and shutting us out too with that, brilliant.
The gun scene was as bad as the trailer implied, straight out of a very different show. I’ll let it slide though, I know Lisa likes her dramatic scenes every now and then ;)

A Quiet Word or Two | Hugo Stiglitz x gn!reader
Anonymous asked: Can you please write “why do you bother to keep me around?” with Hugo Stiglitz? I’m getting a new puppy in about a week so I’ve been waaayyy too busy 😭 -💜
summary: Hugo starts to doubt if you know how much he loves you, and why you bother to keep him around.
tws: swearing
word count: 615
You had known Hugo for many, many years and if there was one thing that you always liked about him, it was that he stuck around; incredibly loyal and protective, he never would have let anything or anyone cause you any harm. He probably would have had a fist fight with a car had it so much as brushed past you. You loved Hugo, you really did, and while you knew that his way of showing you that he felt the same was to sit with you while he did something - be it carving a bit of wood or sharpening his knife or just relaxing -, you never wanted him to say the words; you didn’t need him to. You didn’t need him to actually say it. He showed you enough as it was, from spending time with you, through to giving you little things he had carved; the latest being a little fish, no bigger than the nail on your thumb. You kept it in your pocket at all times.
But Hugo was starting to doubt that, if he was honest, after hearing Donny proudly and loudly announce that he was adopting you into the Donowitz family as his sibling, Hugo doubted that you knew how much he loved you; he never dared to say it, and he was starting to wonder why you ever bothered with him in the first place - after meeting the Basterds, you clearly knew that there were better men out there than him.
So he cornered you, on a warm but not too hot July night, Hugo dared to sit beside you as you looked up at the stars, wondering when you could all go home at last, wondering when the Nazis would pay for their crimes; he nudged your shoulder gently, clearing his throat.
“Yeah?” You hummed, a smile coming to your lips when you met his gaze.
Hugo sighed, swallowing thickly as he got himself comfortable. “Why do you bother to keep me around?”
You scoffed, shaking your head as you scratched the side of your jaw, your brows furrowing. “Well, that’s a bit of an odd question, innit?”
“Please,” he said quietly. “Answer.”
“I keep you around because I love you,” you said gently, moving so that you could lay your head on his lap. “I keep you around because you’re loyal, because you make me smile, because you make… you make me feel safe. I keep you around because I like you.”
Hugo nodded, gently laying his hand on your chest as he licked his lips and stared out at the camp.
“Hugo, I ain’t sure what made you think about it,” you started, “but I can tell you now - I don’t give a shit about if there’s someone better. If there’s someone else. I want you, I love you. You’re gonna be the man I marry one day - no one else… although, Donny’s already asked if he can be my Shomer.”
“You’ve… you’ve talked about marrying me to Donowitz?” Hugo asked quietly, his voice filled with shock.
But you just smiled as you nodded and laughed a little. “I’ve talked about it with Donny a lot. I’m pretty sure he’s planned the whole thing out already.”
“You let him plan our wedding?” He asked with a raised brow. “Him? Of all people?”
“Yeah, I mean, he’d probably make the venue some stadium, but at least we’d get it done,” you laughed softly, which made him smile a little as he shook his head and sighed.
“I’ll talk to him in the morning,” Hugo grumbled, a little amusement in his voice. “I’m not marrying you in a baseball stadium.”
“But you will marry me?”
“One day.”
