Ship game: Shiro and Kenji!
hello <3 this is an easy but delightful one!
with both men being well in their 40s when we first meet them they are a rarity in bl. and i cannot put in words (sorry, this is kind of the purpose of the ask game that i am failing here) how well they make use of that.
there is so much to admire and love about them, but probably the biggest thing I am taking away from watching them is how to build a relationship and work for it but don't have it feel like work. an intentional but natural process of trying to not only make someone else's life brighter, but also to consider what you want your life with another person to look like. they hurt each other many times, they both have their flaws. but watching them you never get the feeling that any of it could end their relationship. because both of them are willing and determined to build a life together. and over the span of two season we really see the astounding changes they both go through while also feeling true to themselves.
I like this visualization of what queer love and community can look like. how to consider someone else's needs but not lose yourself in the process. how to build a home when there is less of a societal template of what that should look like.
probably the other thing i like is the defying of gender roles? kenji being flamboyant and shiro earning more money and being straight-passing as a premise could've run the risk of them emulating traditional gender roles but instead we see an effort on both their ends to use their strongpoints to make their daily life work and enjoy their own tasks. especially how this dynamic gets juxtaposed with shiro's ex in season 2 really made me appreciate the candid writing of their dynamic.
last but not least, since they're not just in their late 40s but also have been together for quite some time (at least longer then most bl couples) the levity of their comedy when they just vibe in the same space, communicate silently and how they can just anticipate what the other is going to do never fails to crack me up. they just make each other happy ;A;
thank you so much for the ask
send me a ship and i'll share my thoughts about it

I wish to hear more about Var'lin and this Sith half brother. how did that happen? who are their parents? how similar do they look? why is Var'lin impersonating him?
I love talking about them, thank you for asking!
For the longest time they didn't even know about each other's existence. Then the war happened and Var'lin was wounded in a skirmish with a group of Sith on Corellia. He was taken captive by one of them, who - to his complete shock - looked like his evil doppelganger.
I wrote some stories (here, here and here) about that story arc, but the conclusion happened in rp only (he eventually got back home and the brothers decided to stay in contact).
They look eerily similar, even though Var'lin is younger (and prettier, he claims). Var'lock of course has only one eye and he generally looks more sithy with the pale skin, gaunt face and the corrupted orange eye.
They share the same father. A Sith who fathered a lot of illegitimate children all over the galaxy. One of them was a little slave boy on an imperial colony world. Var'lin's mother fled to Coruscant where she gave birth and never told her son or anyone else the story of how she had gotten pregnant with a Sith's child (it's not a pretty story).
Var'lin is eventually going to help his brother with some pesky assassins. Draw them out by impersonating Var'lock. Just the usual Sith power struggles, you know? A normal day in the Empire.
Here's some lovely art of the two.

B, G, N for Jori and Scorpion?
B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?
jori thinks that its so amazing how much scorpion has gone through and still continues to go through but he still has the brightest smile!
G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
she's very grateful and she makes sure he knows it! sometimes she'll just say thank you or she'll do something for him return like make him something to eat when she notices that it's been a while since he last ate!
N icknames - What do they call their s/o?
she mostly just calls him babe because she isnt very creative lmao. but when she's teasing him she call him something dumb like 'cookie lips' or 'cutie cutes' in a high pitch voice haha!

honestly love when artists draw copious amounts of fanart for a character and then start adding more and more personal touches or headcanons to how they depict them and then just change their name and adopt them as an original character. its like watching nature heal in real time

Yall need to interact with fanfiction author's more.
So. After the ddos attack on ao3.
I was encouraged to write more comments and make my love known to fanfic writers.
I dont really like commenting. Because im a bit shy and soooo lazy.
Now though. I am writing more comments. And dude. This is so heartwarming. Ya'll need to treat writers better. They are doing the lord's work.
Take for an example, couple of days prior, i was searching for something interesting to read, and found an oneshot quite compelling.
I read it. At the end of it, i was blown away by how good it was. It promised me something and it went beyond my expectations. But then i saw a crime, zero fucking comments!
At that moment, i wasn't feeling up to writing a comment. Because, normally i like to write huge paragraphs. But because im lazy i decided to be brief.
Next day, the author answered that the comment lift their mood for the whole day.
That warmed my heart.
Duuuuuuuude! Write comments! Suport the writers of the fics you like! No need to be something super elaborate. Just give your thoughts. Freak out. Ramble. Ask something. Make theories. Compliment. Make a joke about how you wished to give kudos every chapter but ao3 sucks(not true bby) and won't let you.
Truly. Just. Comment. It can make someone's day. And that is part of the apeal of writing fics. Interacting with people.
Just give love to fanfic writers yall. They deserve this and so much more.
