Do you have any tips on getting better at anatomy and dimension? You always draw such beautiful, dynamic and expressive people!! So i was wondering if you have any tips for people who struggle with that? I also love whenever you share your life drawings because your sketches always look so smooth and effortless, and I would really like to learn but I have no idea where to start lol. I know you're probably sick of being asked this but I really look up to your art!
hello! iām so honoured, thank you! i would normally say ālive sketching is the best way to improve!ā but youāve already seen my live sketches so ill see if i can list down all the other things that helped me with my art journey:
using references - online, but also references of yourself (or someone you know who can do it for you). you are going to be able to get exact references to what you want to draw when you pose for it yourself. this is something i started considering only after i was forced to do acting for animation at uni. itās really helpful!
learn to draw cloth and folds. when youāre drawing people thereās a 90% chance theyāre in clothes, so observes and see how different materials look when theyāre hanging or scrunched up or blowing in the wind.
the coil technique by sycra helped me out a LOT when i was trying to figure out foreshortening and make the character still seem like a solid structure.
line weight is another great way to show volume without shading. it also makes the line art process a lot of fun!
and iāve heard many other artists say this and i stand by it too. find something youāre interested in and keep drawing for it. eventually youāre gonna get really good at it! and then you find the next thing and keep drawing that!

Okay, in all seriousness. I used to ship them until s3 came out. Their s3 relationship just wasnāt what Iād expected them to be like (mike being misogynistic and el spying on mike when itās a clear breach of his boundaries) and Iād never lost interest in a ship as fast as I did with them. season 4 showed me all the reasons why will and mike are more compatible and now here we are.

a little bit about the artwork
(spoilers for the first shadow ahead)
if you remember this artwork i did back in 2022, the piece above is just another interpretation of the same thing.
iāve always believed that will would have powers but the first shadow just further confirmed it for me seeing how henry got his powers
thereās also a scene in tfs where henry kisses patty newby for the first time and heās so overwhelmed by his feelings, he accidentally breaks the stage lights with his powers. hereās to hoping for a parallel where will byers breaks a bulb (or restores the upside down to its original form if iām delusional enough!) as a result of true loveās first kiss š„°
if you havenāt heard the song iāve attached, i highly recommend it! the chorus is incredibly all encompassing and it feels like youāre being surrounded by something divine. which is exactly what i imagine the scene above to feel like.
anyhow! happy 53rd birthday, old man william byers!
