okay something I was thinking about yesterday was how Tomoe clearly wants Kagami and Adrien to be together because of status, right? Adrien is an adequate match for Kagami in terms of wealth and upraising?
I simply think it would be really funny if Kagami chose to date Felix instead and Tomoe couldn't even be mad because Felix is, if anything, more adequate than Adrien - more money, more status, he's even lined up for lordship in Britain. And he's a gentleman, too - he only does what is expected of him socially.
And she hates him so much but there's nothing she can do, no argument she can make, because he's - on every tangible level - perfect, just really really fucking annoying.

WELCOME HOME THEORY 2: The Theory Strikes Back
Good evening, gentlemen, gentleladies, and gentlethems,
Or Good night
Or even good morning,
Whenever you are, I humbly come to you all with another theory.
This time, its our favorite morally questionable sentient house, Home!
So strap in, buckle up, cause I have STUFF TO SAY.
THIS WILL BE VERY LONG AND IT WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE UPDATE!!
Alright, so to begin, what the HECK is going on with Home?
They are one of the most mysterious characters in Welcome Home, we don't know much if not anything at all. And what we do know... wellllll......
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah definitely not menacing at all.....
The only thing that we do know of Home is well… ^ This and the fact that it and Wally are sentient.
Ok, let’s backtrack. HOMES SENTIENT???
Yep! While it was implied in the first update that it was aware of us, this handy-dandy audio clip confirms that Home (like Wally) is aware of “You” (Whoever this “You” person may be. Either literally us or the Question Answerer).
Now, what exactly Home is saying is still up for debate. Some say that it’s “Help Me” while others say it’s “Hello”. (It’s incredibly hard to know what’s exactly dots and dashes with Homes banging) but one thing is for sure, Home is communicating with us.
“AHHHH HOW SCARY! THE CREEPY DEMON HOUSE IS GONNA KILL US” D:
And that’s where you’re wrong, dear viewer. While Home is clearly morally dubious and incredibly suspicious, like Wally, I don’t think it’s necessarily evil.
Take for instance this link right here. It’s an honestly cute lil audio of Wally singing to Home. But while that is adorable, it’s the ending that I really wanna focus on.
Wally: …Do you like it? Home: *Creaks* (it’s Morse code again! Spells out IDO) Wally: Thats good… I think…
Ok why did I bring this old little clip up? Oh ya know… no reason… OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT WALLY CAN’T UNDERSTAND HOME ANYMORE!!!
Ok, I know whatcha thinkin’ “Why not anymore?”
Take a listen at another audio clip, this time it’s a secret one!!
The clip is about Barnaby and Home having a conversation with one another! But if you listen real closely… Home is not speaking in Morse code! It’s their own lil Home language, still consisting of creaks and bangs… yet Barnaby doesn’t seem to have any trouble understanding Home.
So how come Wally can’t understand Home and yet Barnaby can?
It’s because Wally’s sentient now. He’s getting more real. More human. Cartoon logic does not apply to Wally anymore! To us, Home is speaking in gibberish! Since it’s gibberish to us, then it’s gibberish to Wally!
And Home knows that, so it does the next best thing and tries using another language to hopefully communicate better. Now that I’m listening to the first audio clip again (so-below), it makes sense why Home is “speaking” slowly. It’s not used to communicating that way. It’s hard to tell their dots from their dashes, their bangs from their creaks, and it’s pauses are sometimes too long and too short at the same time! In a weird way, Home kinda has an accent when speaking in Morse code.
It’s kinda sweet just how hard Home is trying to communicate with Wally and us. Makes ya forget that Home has a weird portal and a flesh heart inside of them.
“WAIT WHAT?!?” (<- That’s you)
Yeah, remember when I said the more sentient something gets the more “real” they get?
Yeah, it’s also been happening with Home too. Go on any doodle audio file, and you can hear assumably Home’s heart beating away. You can hear it very clearly in this audio right here! I doubt the Playfellow Workshop made Home with a literal BEATING heart, but hey, Home is where the heart is I guess…
And now, the portal thing.
“Since when did Welcome Home ever had a portal??”
Oh since the very beginning actually!
Tumblr media
First updated “portal” picture
Many people (including yours truly) theorized that this swirly spiral was a portal to the real world. It seems that we have more evidence to support this theory too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First updated portal (shown left) and second updated portal (shown right)
Hey…. Wait a second…. Is it just me or it the portal getting…. Bigger?
The first update it was small, even the black goo wasn’t as bad… on the second picture, the spiral is INCREDIBLY large, and now the goo is coating the trees.
Well, isn’t that ominous.
"But wait. If Home has a portal... where is this portal even going?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both portals have the same black goo surrounding it, the same white eye in the center and the same swirl.
It's going to the Restoration team. And look at where the portal is placed. It's on the ceiling. "As above"
and the one in Welcome Home is "So below"
So perhaps the portal in Home is on the floor... This CANNOT be a coincidence I swear!!
Tumblr media
With weird goo covering everything. And like, thats not all!
If you compare the items that the Restoration team uploaded onto the site in the first update and on the second update, you'll notice that the items have grown significantly larger.
At first, it was just envelopes with paper crammed inside of it. As if the person was trying to cram in as much information as possible. It isn't neat.
Tumblr media
About us page: All of the paper materials tucked away inside the envelopes we have received are usually crammed together and covered in paint and ink.
Now, in the second update, the items have grown larger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These items are much larger than mail, and I believe it also has something to do with how much bigger the portal has gotten.
Pretty soon, we might have full-grown puppets jumping in. But now that begs the question... Why is Home doing this?
Well, I think it's because Home really wants to help Wally.
As you inspect the website, there's a bunch of evidence that Wally is growing increasingly desperate for some other kind of sentient connection. It's been growing so much that it starts to get worrying...
Let's go back to the conversation between Home and Barnaby, notice anything weird? Not really? Well, I noticed that every bug audio file was in the perspective of Wally. Here, Wally is just staring at his half-finished painting, even Barnaby comments on this and finds it odd that Wally stopped painting.
It looks to me that Wally was dissociating. There, but not really there. He's been disconnected from reality because it feels unreal to him.
And Home sees that. As soon as the conversation turns to Wally, Home goes dead silent. When Wally still does not respond, Home releases a series of quick creaks and bangs to try and get Wally's attention. It doesn't work. Once Barnaby says Wally's name, it snaps him out of his dissociative state.
And Home is worried about Wally.
Tumblr media
It gives a whole new look to the infamous "so-below" image.
Home isn't looking at Wally, it's looking straight at us. Eyes shaking as Wally seems like he's begging. Home doesn't look malicious here, Home looks like it's begging us to do something to calm Wally down because it physically can't anymore.
Home and Wally don't have a lot, if not any facial expressions at all. And shaky eyes in cartoons are a good indicator that someone is scared.
And if Home (in this link) is saying "Help Me", then no wonder! Heck, even the freaking disk is shaking!
Home is reaching out to us for help because it can't comfort Wally anymore and I don't know about you but that is SAD.
Two puppets that recently gained sentience can't even get the comfort out of each other because they can't communicate anymore :(
So, all Home can do is wait and watch Wally.
Tumblr media
And if help won't come to you, well, having a handy-dandy portal is very helpful!
You can go to the help instead.

It's been a month since Binderary ended but I've still got books to share! This is @worse0mens's (hi!) wonderful Good Omens series, The Blossom Realm, which starts with Omens of Another Kind. This is very much a longtime favorite of mine, an AU with a really compelling combo of worldbuilding and characterization. This is a believable grand romance that's also a court drama and a fairy tale, and it's really long (the full series is about 220k words) so it will keep you reading for a long time. This is one of the fics I learned bookbinding for, and it was the first really long fic that I typeset (and redid once I learned more about typesetting). It's been a long road but it was so worth it.
More photos under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Couple of photos of the spines. The series doesn't divide easily, with one very long work, one medium-length one, and several shorter pieces. The main story is nearly 200k on its own, the longest single volume I've ever made (about 500 pages), and I was worried about it getting too unwieldy, so I put all the other works into their own volume of about 100 pages. They make a disparate set but I love them. The cover is done in skiver green faux leather from Hollander's; I've never worked with this brand before but I loved it, and one sheet was big enough to do both books. The titles are done in cricut brand gold foil htv. There were some issues with that, as I'd bought a multi-pack with a few different colors and only found out after applying the front cover graphics on both books that one, I didn't have enough to do the backs and spines; two, that the gold in that pack is a totally different color than the gold they sell on its own; and three, that no one in my area stocked it anymore and I had to order it from Europe. Here's what the back looks like:
Tumblr media
It's the same graphic as the front but without the title in the center, and it's one of the fanciest backs I've ever done and it took forever to weed all those little cutouts. The graphic was free to use on rawpixel. The font I used on the spines and front is a basic Microsoft font called Harrington that worked incredibly well on the cricut, even at small sizes; a lot of basic fonts are too thin, especially fancy ones, so this was a delightful surprise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Photo of the top, with ribbon bookmark and handmade double core endbands. The endbands didn't come out as well as I'd have liked; they're a little uneven and the color changes aren't that evenly spaced. Double core ones are harder than I expected and I need more practice. The endpapers are chocolate silk moire, and I chose them because there's a very important massive tree in the fic and I thought they looked like wood grain. I did a little experimenting with the shorter volume that's visible around the edges of the endpaper. I wanted gilded edges but the longer book had to be rounded, and I thought I'd try paint instead of foil since I don't know how to foil a curved edge. But I did my experiments on the smaller volume and I couldn't get good coverage, so the edge had to be trimmed off. The watered-down paint had leaked into the edge of the silk moire too far for me to trim, so it's still there. But it's kind of pretty, so I'm going to call it an aesthetic choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The title pages are the same, with free graphics from rawpixel. I got lucky and found a similar set of roses that I used for the chapter headers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These had to be positioned by hand for each chapter so they'd fit around the text properly. It was a pain but they look so pretty. The final photo contains a story spoiler, so proceed with caution if you don't want that:
Tumblr media
The scene break image in both volumes is this tiny snake. This was one of the first aesthetic choices I made for the books. A lot of the plot is centered around a prophecy about a monster snake that everyone thinks will destroy the kingdom, and of course in the manner of Good Omens fic it's a wildly inaccurate misinterpretation and not a threat at all. I wanted something like this because the snake is not only non-threatening but it's been here the entire time and there was never any reason to freak out about it. It was surprisingly difficult to find a snake image that was both simple enough to still be clear at this size and also didn't look dangerous or like a cartoon character. I looked at so many snakes before I found this one, it's ridiculous.
And that's it! I hope the author likes it (and remembers me since I asked to do this almost a year ago). There are three more binderary posts forthcoming, though I don't know how long it'll take me to get to them. It was a busy month.

Have A Little Faith - Dean Winchester P2
Title: Have A Little Faith - Dean Winchester Part 2
Words: 1,079
Relations: Dean Winchester X Reader
TW: SPOILER S1E12.
Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It had been a few hours since Dean and I talked. Nurses came in and out to do checks on us and other people in the room. My doctor came in with the same fake smile as always. I chuckled as I sat up and perched on the edge of the bed as he put his gloves and face mask on.
"I'm getting too predictable," He joked so I chuckled as I waited.
"Almost, you had soup rather than a sandwich today," I explained as he positioned himself behind me to start dressing my wounds. He chuckled.
"I still have no idea how you always know, you're like a psychic," He chuckled. "Sharp pain," He added nonchalantly like he had said it a thousand times. I sucked air through my teeth. Groaning from the pain of applying the cream to sterilise it.
"You have a spot of red on your shirt that isn't blood," I explained through my groans. He seemed to pause for a second probably to look at his shirt. He laughed seemingly noticing it.
"Impressive," He added before applying my bandages and smoothing them down. I gripped the side of the bed as the pain jolted my whole body. "All done, you can relax," I sighed with relief and relaxed. "The nurse will come in with your morphine," He added making me smile, ah the good stuff! I rested back in bed, my muscles tensing when I sat back and a sharp pain ran up my spine. I groaned slightly and rested my head back. The doctor walked out. I looked over at Dean to see he was watching me with sad eyes.
"It is as bad as it looks," I joked, Dean chuckled but his eyes still showed his sorrow.
"When will you be able to leave?" He asked softly like he was afraid to hurt me. I thought for a second.
"I don't know," I explained sadly, looking away to try to hide my tear-filled eyes. I hate emotions and crying. It's a waste of time but being stuck here is really taking its toll on me. Dean seemed to understand and respect my want for silence and didn't press for me to talk. I was given my morphine and not long after fell asleep.
I woke in the middle of the night when I heard shuffling around and groans of pain. I quickly looked over to Dean in a panic. I saw him struggling to get up so I rose to my feet and helped him.
"You should have woken me if you needed the bathroom," I sleepily informed but he chuckled at me as I helped him stand up.
"I'm not going to the bathroom, I'm breaking out," He smirked at me. I didn't even hesitate to help.
"They're not just going to let you walk out, Take a wheelchair, I'll be back in a second," I said and hurried into the hallways. I approached the nurse's desk.
"Hi, I was wondering if you could page Doctor Raylor, he's urgently needed." I lied to the new nurse. She started training today so didn't question it.
"Wait here. I'll be right back with someone who can do that." She said rushingly. She hurried down the hall so I walked around the desk grabbed her jacket from the back of her seat and threw it on. I saw a guy's hoodie from another doctor and grabbed that too for Dean. I walked back to see Dean in a chair trying to push himself but from the pain, he was struggling. I threw the hoodie at him and started pushing him towards the exit. He put the hoodie on.
"What's the plan?" He asked.
"Walking out the front door," I shrugged.
"What? That's a stupid idea." He sighed. There was a stand of equipment so I pocketed a couple of bottles of liquid morphine, sterilising cream and bandages just in case. "Walking out isn't going to work…" He added in a knowing tone. I shushed him as I approached the front desk. The guy behind the counter looked at me.
"Hi," I said in a seductive tone and bit my lip. He smirked at me.
"Hello, beautiful," He replied in a deep voice.
"I was wondering when your shift finished," I smirked suggestively before sending him a wink. I heard Dean lightly scoff behind me as I made sure to rest on the desk pushing my boobs and butt out.
"3," He quickly said.
"See you then," I smirked again and started walking Dean out the door.
"This isn't going to work," Dean whispered but was silenced once we made it outside with no argument.
"I'm sorry, what was that?" I sarcastically asked, gloating about my skills. Dean just laughed as we approached a random car. I pulled a knife out of the waistband of my underwear, Dean looked impressed and confused.
"A part of me wants to ask where you just pulled that from the other part of me is saying to leave it to the imagination," He commented making me laugh.
"I didn't realise you were such a flirt, Dean," I replied.
"I'm a dying man, I've got to make it worth it by at least getting one kiss from you," He smirked as I pulled the handle of an unlocked car and used the knife to hotwire it.
"In your dreams," I giggled but it was in my dreams too. what can I say? He's crazy attractive!
"We do more than kissing in my dreams." He added making me laugh before the engine roared to life. I winked at Dean before rolling him to the other side of the car and helped him into the passenger's seat before I got on the driver's side.
"So, where's Sammy boy?" I asked and Dean told me the place of a motel in which they were staying. I started driving for it.
"I still don't see how it worked, you flirted with the guy at the front desk, I mean I had a nice view where I was but you distracted him so much that he let us just stroll out," He spoke out of nowhere, I giggled.
"What can I say? It's a talent," I chuckled making him chuckle.
"You must have magical eyes," He added so I smirked. My eyes are a vibrant Y/E/C, everyone always loves them. I've been told many times that they sparkle when I'm flirting. It really is magical.

It's been a long time since I watched Wild Kratts but I didn't even know he had a fandom, I'm so happy, and your story made my dream come true, I would love to create a story like you, but I'm not very good at writing stories What tips would you give to a beginner <3
I don't consider myself a super great author to be honest, I'm much more confident in my illustrations! But as someone who is completely self taught: here are some tips I use when I write my stories! (these may not apply to everyone, but they do help me) Outlines
If I'm writing a plot-based story I make an outline of all the major plot points I want to make and separate them into chapters. I reference this outline when I'm writing a chapter and it helps me meet all my "goals" for that particular chapter! Of course you can be flexible with this. Say one of your plot points dragged out a little too long and you want to save something for the next chapter, you can adjust your outline as you go! Sometimes your idea will change as you write it, and that's okay! revise your outline accordingly. For me, it's handy so I don't end up spiralling completely off the path I intended and lose the conclusion I wanted to have. Here's an example of the outline for my Reprogrammed AU. (Only chapters 1-5 to prevent spoilers for unreleased chapters)
Tumblr media
as you can see, it doesn't have to be super formal. This is literally just in my notes app. As long as you can understand and follow your ideas, that's all that matters.
Get a Beta Reader!
I do not actually have a beta reader currently, but sending your writings to someone to proofread is one of the best ways to get genuine feedback. Try to find someone who is also pretty educated on proper grammar. I learned more about proper formatting from a fanfiction beta reader than I did in school im so fr. At the very least, make sure this person is comfortable with giving you constructive criticism. If something reads a little awkward or if a plot point doesn't make much sense/could be solved with an easier method, it's a lot easier for someone to point out when they didn't write the piece.
Study fanfictions/books you enjoy
Honestly... just reading a lot has made me a better writer. You will begin to notice the way authors describe certain feelings or environments, and that can give you insight on how to go about writing your own ideas. If I find an author I really like, I will try to dissect WHY I like them so much. Is it their accurate characterization? Do they describe emotions well? Are their plots engaging? Is their dialogue interesting? Find out what makes their writing so interesting so you can incorporate those traits into your own story. This goes for the way they format their writing as well. For example, I've found I prefer when chapters are around 1k-5k words. Really short chapters can make the story seem choppy when the reader has to constantly click to the next page, it kinda breaks the immersion of the story. Instead I try to use chapter breaks as interesting pausing points for suspense. I love it when authors leave their chapter on a slightly unfinished note. So I'm curious for the next chapter, but also I feel fulfilled with what I've read so far. And I've discovered this by analyzing the stories I enjoy!
And the most important advice I can give.... PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!
Writing is similar to drawing in the sense that in order to learn, you must DO it. You have to make the shitty stuff before you find out how to make it better! It's honestly just part of the creative process. I still have some short stories I wrote back when I was a preteen and ITS BAD LOL but I needed to go through that in order to learn and grow and be more confident in my storytelling capabilities. And just like illustrations, everyone starts at a different place and everyone's process is different. SO BE PATIENT AND DON'T GIVE UP! Write that story! Even if it's bad, who cares?! You wrote something! And next time, you will write something even better!

[CN] Kiro's Unbiased Mirroring Mind's Quest (Part 1)
🌸 Warning: This post contains detailed spoilers for a date that hasn't been released on the EN server yet! 🌸
Tumblr media
[Note: This date was translated with the help of Google Translate :>]
Note: In order to better engage with this date, please read the main story (Season 1 at least), Clinic Date, and Unconditional Surrender Mind's Quest :>
——*:・゚✧——*:・゚✧——
[PART 1]
Tumblr media
Kiro: Hiss--
I apply the ointment to the long and narrow wound on his arm. The brightly-colored cut looks particularly shocking against Kiro's fair skin.
Kiro frowns with an exaggerated expression, his blue eyes moist from being wronged.
Kiro: Be a little gentler.
MC: Cut the act. Hmph.
MC: The current pain is your punishment for secretly fighting the bad guys again!
I deliberately put on a cold front, but when I bring down the cotton swab again, I am still three points gentler.
Recently, it's been pretty rare for Kiro and I to get a few days off to relax at the same time. And just as we were about to spend a leisurely time together, the letter S with its sharp hook came to disturb us.
I had already been super depressed since our vacation had been interrupted by BS, but I never expected Kiro to come back with an injury!
It was so unfair! So infuriating!
Seeing my frown deepen further and further, Kiro quickly raises his other hand and gently strokes my cheek.
Kiro: This injury was really an accident. I promise, I won't use force to solve the problem next time!
MC: It's not a matter of force, it's...
I bite my lower lip, slightly distressed, and raise my eyes to look at him.
MC: I know that there a lot of troublesome things that you have to deal with at BS.
MC: But you're already their boss. Aren't there some things that you can assign to your subordinates?
MC: Kiro, I'm really worried about you.
Tumblr media
Kiro: ......
Kiro slightly parts open his lips, then purses them again.
His hand slips from my chin and gently covers the back of my hand.
Tumblr media
Kiro: I get what you mean. I promise I'll do that next time.
MC: There are too many things you "promise to do next time". I need to get you to swear it.
I purse my lips and stretch out my fingers towards him. Kiro laughs, hooks my finger, and gently presses the pad of his thumb against it.
By the time the last wound was taken care of, it was getting late.
I pat the fluffy quilt and pull Kiro onto the bed.
Kiro: Wait, are we going to sleep at this hour?
MC: Of course. The wounded must rest well so that the wound can heal quickly.
Kiro: That's fine, but...
Kiro's tone seems hesitant. He glances at the time.
Kiro: Can you wake me up in three hours?
MC: Huh? Is there something else you need to do?
Kiro: The time for the limited time event of that game we were recently playing is in three hours from now. I want to beat the event.
Tumblr media
MC: Kiro.
I groan angrily and glare at him.
MC: Article 197 of the Kiro-Chips Code - The wounded are not allowed to play games!
Tumblr media
Kiro: But I'm only missing the last five percent of my mission. I'm begging the best Miss Chips in the world...
Kiro: Don't you trust the efficiency of my skills? I'll complete it in no time, then lie down and get a good rest!
Here comes this trick again. As long as he uses that tone and the words "best Miss Chips", there's nothing I can do against him.
MC: ...Fine, then I'll supervise you.
Kiro cheers and quickly gets into bed, sleeping in a more elaborate posture than that of a prince in a fairy tale movie.
Perhaps it's because his tense nerves relaxed so completely after sustaining an injury. After he lays down and we don't say anything, his long eyelashes stop trembling and his breathing slows down.
MC: ...Looks like he was really tired.
I gently tuck him in, then sit on the sofa nearby and start doing my own thing.
The night gradually thickens and three hours fly by quickly. I press the vibrating reminder on my phone and turn my eyes to the bed.
MC: Kiro, please get up...
Kiro: ......
The response I receive is even, shallow breathing.
I move closer, lean against the pillow and lower my voice.
MC: Didn't you say you had to complete a task? It's time to wake up.
Kiro: Mm...
Kiro just frowns slightly and then stops responding.
MC: Anyway, I know your account and password, how about... I just help you complete the task?
MC: As for you, just sleep peacefully.
I poke Kiro's cheek, move the computer to his side and log into the game.
I had also wanted to participate in this event during the early stages, but I couldn't stand the high difficulty level. So I just got a few basic rewards and then called it a day.
Kiro, on the other had, has been soaring through the event rankings with great vigor, and now has a score that is beyond my reach.
MC: Hiss... why do I feel that the higher the points, the more difficult the monsters become to defeat...
MC: AHHHHHH, don't steal my mission items--
MC: Only 5 points? Why?
My tiny avatar was jumping around the screen like a newbie, not at all as gorgeous and elegant as when its being controlled my Kiro.
When I finally finish a wave of tasks, the points progress bar moves forward only a little.
The unsatisfactory progress of the mission makes me purse my lips tightly, and the noisy sound effects of the game leave me more and more frustrated.
I simply mute the game and take off my headphones.
Silence returns to my ears, only the sounds of Kiro and I breathing are intertwined in the square inch of space.
After operating the avatar to complete another task, I can't help but look down at him.
Perhaps it's because the new bandage on his arm made him uncomfortable, but Kiro's sleeping face isn't as peaceful as it usually is, and his brows are slightly wrinkled.
I reach out my hand, attempting to smooth out the wrinkles.
Kiro: MC...
With my fingertips still hovering in the air, a soft voice spills from Kiro's mouth.
Kiro: Stay with me...
In an instant, his whispers seem to melt my heart and turn it into mush.
I put away my fingers, lean over, and quietly replace the touch with a kiss.
MC: I'll quickly complete this task, and come to accompany you in your dreams.
——*:・゚✧——*:・゚✧——
[PART 2]
Kiro: [inhaling sharply] ...!
MC: Hm?
The sound of inhalation pulls me out of my sleep. I rub my eyes and look at the person next to me.
Kiro is already sitting up, but for some reason, he doesn't seem to be moving. He just stares ahead in a daze.
After a moment, he turns his head hesitantly.
Kiro: What time is it now?
MC: Huh? Let me see... it's half past eight.
Kiro: Eight thirty... you - you didn't wake me up yesterday?
I don't react until I sense him stammering a bit as he speaks.
MC: Oh, about that!
I sit up and point to the laptop on the bedside table.
MC: Don't worry, I helped you finish the mission.
MC: Don't say I didn't wake you up. I called you twice but you didn't respond--
Before I finish speaking, the corners of Kiro's mouth that were previously frozen in place, suddenly rise. He cheers and rushes towards me.
Kiro: Miss Chips, you're amazing! Mua! Ouch, my arm...
When an indulgent kiss falls on my face, Kiro's nose wrinkles again from the pain.
I burst out laughing, press my forehead against his and give him a soothing kiss on the tip of his nose.
Kiro: Was it tiring?
MC: Fortunately, it was just a bit difficult~
Tumblr media
Kiro: But if you helped me with the task, wouldn't you have already discovered the surprise I wanted to give you?
MC: Surprise? What surprise?
Tumblr media
Kiro's expression suddenly freezes and he lets out a sigh.
Kiro: Didn't you finish it? You should have discovered that the prize redeemed using the points from first place is the limited-edition skin you really wanted but couldn't get.
Tumblr media
MC: .....
MC: Ki-Kiro...
Kiro: Wha-what is it...?
MC: If I tell you that I shut down the device directly after finishing the event, is there any way to retrieve it?
Kiro: Well...
Kiro's expression remains frozen for a long time before he stiffly straightens up.
Kiro: Let's go online and take a look.
We re-log into the game with one last glimmer of hope, but reality proves to be an icy bucket of water poured onto us.
MC: The redemption deadline was 5 a.m.
Looking at the closed grey game store, and a great feeling of depression invaded my heart.
MC: Sorry...
Kiro: Hm?
MC: I wanted to help you, but I didn't finish it to the end... I wasted so many points...
MC: If I had woken you up yesterday, this situation wouldn't have happened. It's all my fault for acting too smart.
Kiro: MC, don't say that.
Kiro interrupts my triad and stretches out his hand to cup my cheek.
Tumblr media
Kiro: It's just a prop in the game, and it was meant for you.
Kiro: If you're sad because you missed it, wouldn't that be against my wishes?
MC: Do you really not blame me?
Kiro: Why should I blame you?
The hand holding me exerts a little more force, as if to hold up my falling emotions.
Kiro: I know you wanted me to get a good rest. It's not in line with the "Kiro-Chips Code" to get up and play games after sleeping for three hours.
Kiro: If you're in a bad mood, let's not touch the computer for a day and go out and have some fun.
Kiro caresses my cheek again. Just as he is about to get up from the bed, I abruptly reach out and pull his sleeve again.
MC: What about you?
MC: Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?
Kiro: Me?
Tumblr media
The corners of Kiro's mouth condense slightly and then rise up into a familiar arc.
Kiro: The Miss Chips I know wouldn't have such a conflicted look on her face
Kiro: Having said that, I don't care anymore.
Kiro: If you're upset, let's visit the most delightful amusement park in the world!
MC: ...Mm, okay.
Do you really not care?
I know how long Kiro had been saving those points for. If all of my hard work had been wasted like this, I would've probably been depressed for at least ten days and a half.
But now Kiro is acting like this. I feel like if I continue to aske questions, he'll just show-off his "indifference" even more.
Was there any way to resolve this?
I take in a long breath and open the quilt.
If he really intends to hide his frustration in his heart, then I'll try my best to make him happy all day long!
-
We stand at the entrance of the amusement park and the bustling crowd forms a noisy sea, almost drowning out the the sounds of the park rides.
MC: Which one do you want to go on?
Kiro pulls down his mask and answers without thinking.
Kiro: The Magic Flight of course!
I take a look at the queueing time for the Magic Flight shown on the map and take in a breath.
MC: Two hours...
I reluctantly search for fast passes, but because our trip was an impromptu one, and since we arrived late, all VIP tickets were sold out.
Tumblr media
Kiro: ...Forget it, let's do what you want to first.
MC: No, no, no, you're the one who has been wronged today and I should make it up to you! As long as you don't mind waiting in line!
Kiro startles for a moment, then smiles and holds my hand.
Kiro: With you by my side, I won't mind anything.
-
We stand at the end of the line and begin to move forward slowly.
It isn't until I share almost all the interesting things that I'd found recently on the internet, that our turn for the Magic Flight finally arrives.
MC: Phew... it's time to be happy!
Kiro: Mm, it's time to be happy!
Please press the lever and stay seated, the Magic Flight is about to begin--
Woosh--
After two hours of queueing, we get a minute of excitement. We stumble out of our seats and Kiro takes a picture of the map.
Kiro: Now it's your turn. What do you want to ride?
MC: Me? I originally wanted to ride the Wonderful Journey, but it seems like we'd have to spend more than an hour in queue. Forget it...
Kiro: No forgetting it. You've satisfied me, so how can I not satisfy you? Let's go!
MC: Can...
I open my mouth but swallow the rest of my words.
After all, I owe Kiro today. I just have to make him 100% happy.
If going on an amazing ride with me is fun for him... then we'll do just that!
-
The queue for the Wonderful Journey is just as endless.
The crowded queue causes many couples to complain. Sometimes there are children crying, making one's ears throb and hurt.
Kiro pinches my palm and sighs softly.
Kiro: Are you tired?
MC: Nope!
I almost burst out my rebuttal and raise a big smile at him.
MC: Why do you think so? Chatting with you in line like this actually made time fly by really quickly.
Tumblr media
Kiro: .....
Kiro purses his lips and a subtle emotion flashes in his eyes, hidden behind his glasses.
Kiro: All right.
After another wonderful ride, my legs begin to faintly protest. I grit my teeth.
MC: I remember you said before that you wanted to ride the Star Wheel? Let's go...
Tumblr media
Kiro: Let's take a break.
He doesn't wait for me to finish speaking. Without any explanation he pulls me to the bench and sits down.
People come and go in front of us, everyone's faces filled with pure joy.
Kiro and I just sit quietly.
The atmosphere is a bit stiff and awkward.
What's the problem? I bite my lower lip.
Do you want to make the other person happy so much that it makes him unhappy instead?
Guilt wraps around my throat so tightly that I find myself unable to speak. In the end, all I can do is rub my face hard.
--You should at least be happy while you're here! If you have any questions, talk to him about it after you've thought it through.
I raise a big smile again and turn to Kiro.
MC: Seems like the float parade is about to start. I remember your favorite character's there. I've already rested. Let's go and get good seats!
——*:・゚✧——*:・゚✧——
[Memory Silhouette]
Clap your hands one by one and join me in rejoicing happiness; clap your hands and forget all your worries...
For the first time ever, Kiro finds the music in the amusement park a bit too loud. It's also his first time finding that the crowd watching the parade is very congested.
He calmly steps back, allowing the girl in front of him to wave her arms and sway to the music.
MC: Say hello to new friends and start a new day with you...
She was extra lively today, as if she was trying her best to monopolize all the happy cells in her body.
But Kiro can never seem to forget the girl's dazed profile as she was sitting on the bench to rest.
She wasn't as happy as she let on, he knows.
MC: Kiro, Pink Rabbit and Lazy Bear are coming soon!
The music gets louder again. His sleeves are being pulled on and the girl's bright smile hits Kiro's eyes.
As if it's a conditioned reflex, Kiro immediately smiles
Kiro: Mm! I've got to give them a high-five soon!
This is what I usually do at an amusement park - whether it's laughing and joking with her while waiting in line, or interacting with the mascots during the parade...
But for some reason, Kiro finds that there's a strange awkwardness in all of his actions.
I shouldn't be like this, he thinks.
In the morning, when he found out that his rewards weren't redeemed in time, he was indeed a little disappointed, but he quickly convinced himself to let it go.
After all, he didn't want to see the girl showing remorse. That would only make him feel worse.
However, he didn't expect MC to care about him far more than he imagined.
But he'd already told her not to bother about it, so why does she still show such a cautious expression?
Was there something I didn't get right enough to make her so hesitant?
Kiro's thoughts wander to a far away place, making his swaying movements a little absent-minded.
It isn't until Lazy Bear walks up to him and stretches out its thick plush paw towards him that Kiro reacts, as if waking up from a dream.
Dear friends, please smile; clap your hands and join me in rejoicing happiness--
The music gradually fades away, the crowd disperses, and pleasant sounds come again in front of the surrounding amusement park rides.
MC: Where do we go next...
The girls stands there with a confused expression again.
All Kiro feels is a string in his heart being tugged at. It isn't painful, but it's sharp and stinging.
I want to make her happy. I want to satisfy all of her emotions.
If she's not going to tell me, then I'll just directly respond to her with action.
Tumblr media
Kiro: MC.
Kiro takes the girl's hand and speaks every word carefully.
Kiro: Go where you want to go. As long as you like it, I like it, really.
——*:・゚✧——*:・゚✧——
[PART 3]
So tired.
After coming back from the amusement park, Kiro and I say almost nothing to each other. As soon as we reach home, we collapse onto the bed and quickly fell asleep.
When I wake up again, his spot is empty.
I carelessly turn over, my body already waiting for Kiro to come back so I could curl up into my most familiar position.
However, even after napping for a while, he still hasn't come back.
At this point... is it insomnia?
The fine thread in my heart knots up again. I decide to get up and look for him.
-
The living room is dark and quiet, with Apple Box and Cello nestled together. When they hear my footsteps, their little heads attentively turn around.
Apple Box: Awoo...
MC: Shh.
I quickly shush twice and signal them to continue sleeping as I walk around their beds.
Faint light streams in from the door of the study. I quietly approach it--
Tumblr media
Jingle--
The first thing that greets my ears is the sound of glass ringing.
The goldfish ornaments in Kiro's study collide with each other as they sway, producing a lovely sound.
Kiro sits beside the hanging ornaments with his hands folded, his eyes lowered, making me unable to distinguish his expression.
Only the downward cast of his slightly pursed lips makes me realize that he must have something on his mind.
Kiro: I don't know what to do anymore.
Hearing his words, I can't help but pause as I am about to push open the door.
In the room, Kiro mutters to himself and reaches out to pick up a small goldfish.
Kiro: I know she's been hiding what's on her mind today, and her happiness today was all to make me "happy".
Kiro: But I don't need her to be like this "for me".
Kiro: I just want her to be "happy" without having to worry about anything.
Kiro: ...Does it sound like a tongue-twister? I think so too.
Kiro: But this is a tormenting matter. I can't help it.
MC: Pfft...
I quickly suppress my laughter, wanting to hear what else Kiro would say to the little fish.
Kiro rests his head in the crook of his arms and the little glass goldfish shakes in his hand. Then, it suddenly swings it's tail and turns towards the door.
The eyes that had been lowered suddenly rise, a sly smile within them.
Kiro: So little fish, can you convey this tongue-twister to the girl standing outside the door?
MC: ...!
MC: So you knew I was outside!
Kiro lets go of the little goldfish and stretches his hand out to me.
Kiro: All I can do is blame my ears for being too sensitive. I suddenly heard Apple Box snorting happily when he saw you.
I open the door, walk over to Kiro and sit down.
MC: Now that the little fish has told me, I also have something to say to the little goldfish to convey to Kiro.
Kiro: What is it?
I too pick up a small goldfish and sway it close to Kiro's eyes.
MC: I want little fish to ask Kiro for me - Do you not like the MC who made Kiro happy today?
Tumblr media
Kiro: It's not that I don't like you, it's just... I feel like I've failed in some way and am asking you to accommodate me.
MC: But this is an accommodation I'm willing to make. I'm very sorry about what happened this morning. You have to give me a chance to make amends.
MC: I want to make you happy, and you want to make me happy, which leads to awkwardness between both of us...
MC: Doesn't that violate our original intentions?
Kiro's eyes flash. He sighs and takes my hand.
Tumblr media
Kiro: What you're saying makes sense. It feels you're much smarter than me when it comes to this. Just...
MC: Just what?
Kiro lowers his head and puts my finger to the corner of his lips.
Tumblr media
Kiro: It's just that it's impossible for me not to care about how you feel. Wouldn't that make me a bad guy?
Seeing Kiro's expression get more and more troubled, I simply wave my hand generously and deliberately tease him.
MC: It doesn't matter. You don't have to be so conflicted, it's not like you haven't been a bad guy before.
Kiro: Huh? When did I become a bad guy?
MC: When you came to see me as Helios a long, long time ago.
For a moment, Kiro's throat rolls violently, and his expression suddenly becomes a little reserved.
Tumblr media
Kiro: You... still remember.
It's over. I seem to have said the wrong thing.
Seeing that not only the tail of the person on the other side is drooping, but also that dark clouds have gathered above his head, I cough lightly, trying to mentally make up for my faux pas.
MC: Ahem, actually, looking back now, I just find it interesting that you were "bad" back then!
Kiro: Interesting?
Kiro: What's interesting?
His hand quietly exerts a bit of force and the temperature warms the glass goldfish we hold in our palms.
Even though it's clearly a memory from a very long time ago, for some reason, when I mention it, the entanglement with the person in front of me at that time is still clear, as if it were yesterday.
All that bitterness, the sorrows and joys are superimposed with more experiences, becoming memories that can be spoken of frankly.
MC: For example, you never let me follow you back then, and you often deliberately scared me...
MC: That time in the clinic, I clearly recognized you, but you still insisted on saying that you weren't Kiro, deliberately made excuses to not recover from your injuries and also...
Kiro: Also what?
MC: What else did you say, "Did you think I was going to kiss you?"?
MC: Now that I think about it, you really were a bad guy.
Tumblr media
Kiro: .......
Kiro pauses for breath. There is a hint of emotion in his eyes that I can't fathom.
Supporting himself on the floor, he moves closer to me.
Kiro: Why do I feel... like you seem to relish me like that more?
Tumblr media
MC: No way, aren't I reviewing your feelings from that time?
MC: I know you must have been conflicted like that; a hundred times more conflicted than you are now, right?
Tumblr media
Kiro: You're wrong.
Kiro's answer is very straightforward. I can't keep myself from feeling a little stunned.
MC: It's not right?
Kiro: Of course not. You want to know what I think when I'm being a "bad guy"?
MC: Very much.
I nod honestly-- This is something we'd tacitly agreed not to talk about, but now that the topic was brought up, it was impossible for me not to get curious.
Kiro smiles.
The next instant, all I feel is my hand being emptied and the goldfish slipping from my palm.
Ding-a-ling--
The colored glaze makes a pleasant melody during the sudden and violent impact. I find myself half-kneeling, pressed into Kiro's arms.
Our posture now is just as it was back then - just as powerful and just as dangerous.
What comes into view is the brilliant blond of his hair and his bewitching smile.
Kiro: I wasn't troubled at that time at all.
Kiro: I just wanted to...
He responds to me with practical actions.
Like biting a raspberry, Kiro easily captures my lips.
Different from how gentle Kiro usually is, his kisses get more and more aggressive, leaving me almost struggling for air.
MC: Kiro...
Numbing currents spread throughout my limbs, down to my very bones, almost making me incapable of holding myself upright. In the end, all I can do is let him pick me up.
Kiro: [huskily] There is a price to pay for curiosity, MC.
The light diffused by the glass traces the ends of his hair, like bright gold or brilliant silver.
It dazzles me.

I have a question!! So I’m a long-time BSD enjoyer but I haven’t read nearly as much of the manga as I would like. I’ve seen all of the anime though, most of it multiple times through. I didn’t realize until looking at the comments on Danny Motta’s video at how much people fucking hate Fukuchi and his sword. Up until this point I’ve thought it’s cool as hell and he, along with the sword, bring something kinda new and fun to the series.
HOWEVER, I know BSD is FAR from perfect and there’s a lot of dumb shit that faithful manga readers have a better perspective on. Would you mind explaining why Fukuchi and the sword are such a sore point? I hope this isn’t too much to ask. I just really want to know.
Hi anon! Its not too much to ask at all!
Unfortunately the answer to that is best explained in the context of ALL the issues I have with the manga/show so... this is going to be v long... and im done giving this show more credit than it deserves but don't take it that seriously lol I hesitate to even consider my pov to be on par with the average manga reader but ig we'll see how my opinions hold up after i post
And disclaimer: I don't mind answering this but ONLY with the context that this is 100% my opinion (as of late, bsd as a whole has just been REALLY bugging me so im just gonna take this opportunity to explain my gripes since most of them apply to or tie greatly into fukuchi's character/design/motivations/development)
I simply don't want anyone to come for my head bc of anything I say here tho, bc I feel like I may disagree with a large portion of the fanbase but WITH THAT SAID...
***from this point forward there will be a few spoilers from s5e11***
Here are my gripes with BSD...
1. BSD and its "magic system"?
bsd powers suffer from what i like to call a "lack of scope"
granted this could be due to the fact the story isnt complete HOWEVER im sure any anime fan can tell you this story doesnt feel like it is leading anywhere its just... going... (ill get to the awful pacing later)
for comparison sake im going to also talk about The Case Study of Vanitas since it is the world I have the most experience in
what does BSD not have that VNC does?
simply put, the magic system doesnt reinvent itself character to character
in VNC if you have an ability it is EXCLUSIVELY connected to "manipulations of the world formula" which is essentially elemental control (fire, ice, gravity, etc.) based on a sci fi version of chemistry (alchemy, if you will) and this rule applies to EVERY CHARACTER in VNC
its a structure that starts developing from the beginning
BSD however introduces a WHOLE NEW magic system for each character
some character abilities are similar, yes, and can be classified as such, but many cannot be classified
again a magic system doesnt NEED to have strict rules (its actually more boring that way if the rules are too simple) but it DOES need RULES... and solid ones
otherwise its tempting to use the MAGIC system to fill in PLOT RELATED gaps
and if that system isnt defined, well, to me that looks like lazy/sloppy/illogical writing
if you like the whiplash of not knowing whats gonna happen next, fine, (i did for awhile too!) up until the unpredictability started to come from powers that as a whole look like an authors way of trying to write themselves out of their own plot hole
ie: time travel
specifically time travel that isnt introduced FROM THE BEGINNING...
2. Fukuchi and his "deus ex machina" sword
Tumblr media
time travel is NOTORIOUSLY difficult to pull off and especially by my standards
I have watched Doctor Who since 2008, before I even knew what tumblr was I was doing my own solo fandom stuff (basically just watching a LOT of youtube video essays) but basically I have high standards when it comes to time travel in stories
Amenogozen has the POTENTIAL to be a great weapon if used in a logical context... but theres one thing the sword (and BSD as a whole) does not follow
RULES
time travel is TRICKY mostly bc it has consequences... in BSD fukuchi gives nothing in exchange for his powers
lets even toss time travel aside for the moment
what is Fukuchi's innate special ability? Mirror Lion... (read below)
Tumblr media
its essentially an attack multiplier of x100 at CLOSE RANGE
lets say your average untrained human punch is 150psi (pounds per square inch) which is the pressure equivalent of a point 100m below the surface of the ocean...
Tumblr media
with Mirror Lion's multiplier you get 15,000psi which would be 10,000m or 10 kilometers
Tumblr media
a pressure equivalent to the deepest part of the ocean (i dont need to remind you how powerful water is... we all know about oceangate)
MY POINT IS HE'S OVERPOWERED AS FUCK
dont even get me started on his motivations too
im glad we got backstory for him in ep 11 and im sure we are just supposed to sum up his motivations into "he was willing to pay the high price for world peace" but tbh royally fuck that
dont TELL me thats what he believes
PROVE to me how you made that conclusion
also the only reason he even dies is becasue he wants fukuzawa to kill him... we dont have any sense of accomplishment for stopping his scheme because NOW the scheme has been PLOPPED right into fukuzawa's lap which fukuchi intended to do from the start... apparently
and this seemingly retroactive decision-making is a problem A LOT of bsd characters have, especially the one and only character i hate THE MOST... *drumroll*
3. Osamu fucking Dazai
oh boy...
I have thought long and hard about Dazai... im not going to lie, after ch109 and ep10 I was about to admit Dazai might actually have grown on me BUT
this was all erased after 6 minutes into ep11 when he was confirmed to indeed NOT be dead
Dazai just *knows* everything thats gonna happen
Chuuya was never a vamp... he knew this... and somehow his ENTIRE escape plan was just hinging on that? bc yknow... hE kNeW fRoM tHe bEgiNniNg
OSAMU DAZAI IS A PLOT DEVICE USED *ONLY* TO FILL IN NARRATIVE HOLES
HE IS A WAY TO FORCE PROGRESS ON A STORY WITHOUT EVER GIVING A REAL EXPLANATION
HIS CHARACTER IS AN INSULT TO INTELLIGENCE
His character is paper thin, with motivations that do not translate to his actions
and frankly... im tired of it...
additionally... if sigma doesn't survive, all of Meursault was literally useless... so why pick him for nikolai's prison break game?
even if he does, it means the ONLY thing we get out of the arc is information about fyodor... as to WHAT information, who knows... but regardless, a villain arc that has been going on for TOO GODDAMN LONG (40 chapters?) should have a resolution that isnt "i knew what was gonna happen all along"
we spent the whole time being SHOWN that fyodor and dazai were of equal intelligence levels... or at least higher than what dazai was used to dealing with
if dazai could just predict shit like this from the beginning why was fyodor a villain for so long? makes ZERO sense, dazai would've defeated him AGES ago... what makes THIS time any different?
also... why is he even suicidal? yeah ok the author was... but like... why make it such a present character trait?... so we can fake kill him over and over? idk
can you tell i dislike him?
4. THEORY vs PRACTICE
I am a "show dont tell" girlie
ALL BSD DOES IS "TELL TELL TELL" ...its infuriating
almost every power/special ability has an element of "trust me bro" ok SOME OF THEM DONT but most of them do
ie: atsushi is a tiger (what does that even mean), kenji gets strong when he's angry (ok hulk?), and THIS JUST IN we STILL don't know how fyodor's ability works... and now he's DEAD?... we also dont know almost any detail about sigma's ability and he might ALSO be dead
but thats only regarding abilities...
when it comes to writing stories using people of high intelligence it is VERY difficult to not get into the aforementioned "trust me bro" mindset which BSD does REPEATEDLY
im not listing off every example but off the top of my head is one scene from s4...
ranpo explains his plan for saving yosano loosely involved "replacing the engine [of an armored vehicle] with an electric motor and playing engine sounds over the speakers so no one noticed" ...and only i can pick this claim to shreds lol (i engineer electric vehicles for a living) but this is so wrong on so many levels...
Internal combustion engines and Electric motors are IN NO WAY EQUIVALENT
ranpo would never be able to power a vehicle the size of an armored truck with a motor that he installed an hour before the truck was put to use... he just wouldnt... the vehicle is too big... ugh *facepalm*
and dont even get me started on batteries...
MY POINT IS
if you want to write some *genius move* at least TRY to do some research to make the action believable
thats like saying "oh yeah i ran out of gas so a threw a couple AA batteries into my gas tank until i could make it to the station"
BUT THAT WOULDNT FLY BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE KNOW THATS NOT HOW CARS WORK
*sigh*
5. Manga Readers' POV
the.chapters.are.too.short
especially for a monthly released manga
i am relatively new to anime and manga... like late 2020, so I am part of the "new gen" I guess you could say so i know i dont have any right to complain about pacing in comparison to like... the dressrosa arc of One Piece
with that said, not enough in bsd BUILDS on itself
it all feels like a self "one-up"
its been too long since any of my large questions have been answered
honestly its rare that any of my questions are ever answered because the narrative rarely follows logical progression anyway and any scenes thats ARE useful are cut from the anime
characters do not *develop* their powers, they just simply ARE
whatever ability you are born with limits what you can do and thats that... which leads me to...
6. Types of Ability Users
the most coherent thing i think i can speak on so this will be short lol
there are 3 types... i think (excluding lightnovels, i have not read 15, Stormbringer, or any others)
(1) natural abilities (ones that can be nullified by dazai or stolen like in Dead Apple)
(2) human/god fusions (chuuya) -> but this can ALSO be nullified???
(3) when an ability isnt an ability (it CANT be nullified) -> ie: whatever the fuck Lovecraft is
Sigma -> ??? (he could be part of the natural ability category but like... it feels weird to put him there)
but... there is never a comparison between these types so im not even sure of this "list" is exhaustive
this is just another way the story is leaving open ways to dig itself out of a plot hole... which isnt fun... bc now there are no stakes... there are no rules... its disorganized chaos where anything can happen
everyone will always be fine because there is a way out of everything
and thats BORING... and for me, downright infuriating
fukuchi likely falls into the first category... but then again he's also using a tool from another ancient ability user... so does he even fit there?
7. Anime Adaptation
rushed
rushed
RUSHED
and i know why...
BSD is so thin on STABLE plot the story would feel like its dragging if Bones wasn't animating at the pace they are (see Manga Readers' POV)
so to try and counteract the feeling that nothing is happening they are cutting "irrelevant" scenes BUT ALSO important portions relevant ones (ie: aku's death)
do all the plot points from the manga happen? by definition, yes... but the nuance the manga has is lost almost entirely
Atsushi doesn't physically throw an injured Aku's arm over his shoulders... Aku doesn't smile upon his demise... Aku doesn't reach out through the fog of the fire extinguisher (the adaptation of this scene was personally my last straw)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then we have the new anime content...
why did we tack on an additional fight? zero context... didn't even tie up loose ends from fukuchi like...
is sigma alive?
are chuuya/dazai/nikoali still in france? europe?
is fyodor going to return in some way? (we know nothing of his motives, ability, or MOST importantly, what information did he learn from Sigma??? his ability is an EXCHANGE so why even have that happen if they are both dead anyway?) why would you fucking kill off a character like this
WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THIS ENTIRE ARC??? The mere reason I'm asking this question is, in and of itself, unacceptable
we MAY get an answer later... but its been 20 episodes... why the fuck dont we know anything about the arc we just completed? ...ludicrous
Final Thoughts
BSD does not have enough reliable rules in its magic system to form a solid foundation of... anything
Fukuchi is a disjointed character trying to do too many things at once, he doesn't have solid motivations, and his arc provides more questions than it answers
Osamu Dazai is not a character... he is a plot device used like a saving throw in DND
BSD frequently insults my intelligence to cover it's ass in its storytelling
being a manga reader is like taking 30 days to rip off a tiny band aid... the pacing is unbearable
even with the end of fukuchi's arc now known, there was no sense of accomplishment in defeating him bc technically we didnt… he gave himself up... so the sword was just to make him overpowered... it was pointless
the anime adaptation was rushed, scenes cherry picked, and plot narratively thinned into water... there was no depth this season
In my opinion...
There are very few redeeming characteristics about BSD now
The few meaningful scenes we do get in the manga are overwritten by later context that negates any emotion initially associated with the scene
even with the end of fukuchi's arc now known, there was no sense of accomplishment in defeating him bc technically we didnt... he gave himself up
Dazai is the worst written character I have ever read
It is very likely i drop this story entirely
If I seem salty/upset/etc. its because I am. However is NOT directed at you, it is simply a manifestation of my disappointment in this story.
...
And there you have my opinion... in way too many words... thanks for sticking around if you made it this far im impressed bc i am salty as hell lol

its a bit confusing of a question sorry, but are the characters for hushush archived anywhere or is there any archive of their story? it seems like theres some thing fleshed out and i genuinely am curious or interested in hearing the full story?
hi there! no worries about your questions. i'm happy to answer anything, no matter how complex or possibly confusing. ^_^ thanks for the asks!
no, there's no archive for them. both the 2019 iteration of hushhush and the current (2023) iteration of hushhush, which is a rewrite, are text campaigns run on discord, so i can't exactly archive it easily. secondly, a big aspect of hushhush is secrecy; the players (which includes grimfantas) don't know what the other players do necessarily, and i am the only person who has all of the knowledge. since the players follow my accounts, i wouldn't want to leak information (even to non-players) that they could see in fear of spoilers. however, this only applies to 2023 hushhush, so i can openly share relevant knowledge from 2019 hushhush.
the general gist of hushhush is that there's this cosmic.. thing called the cycle, which is run by a great oppressive force called the corruption, a representative of all misery, pain and negativity. the cycle is run by the corruption to furthermore feed itself, and it chooses a particular group of people that are destined to suffer as much as they possibly can. two people are chosen from this group to be the maestro and the accomplice, who run the cycle as servants/vessels of the corruption. whatever happens to the rest of the members (called "numbers" colloquially), and how their fates are determined is my little secret :3 the cycle has been running for a very long amount of time and shows no signs of stopping. the hushhush characters you've seen on my girlfriend's blog are mostly from the current cycle which might change things from the seemingly inevitable...
i do not own most of the numbers (karim, augustine, rosamund, parker) but i own everyone else (judas, iscariot, NOVA, isaiah, etc etc etc). the main ones, judas and iscariot, are the only two members of their system (DID): judas has been raised to become the accomplice from birth (which is atypical) and has become very closed off as a result of the constant trauma he's been put through as a result, while iscariot used to wield the mythical black sword apollyon (which parker now uses) and has a mysterious past of his own. they care deeply about eachother. i think an important part that outsiders get confused about is that judas and isca DO NOT see eachother as family but rather some like.. close, emotional bond that simply cant be replicated. i really like them >_<
it's wayyy too much lore to pack into a single ask so if you have any specific questions about the story i will try to answer them if i can! yippeeee!

hey! would you be willing to talk about your short story Eat Well? I read it and loved it, though I admit (very sheepishly) that I feel like i didnt quite understand the end 😅 I'm curious to know what the core of the story is, how it looks in your mind, what the intention is etc. maybe I'm also wondering how it works in the terms of your recent short story instructional video? anyway, big fan as always. you inspire me! ♡
Ahhh thank you so much for reading it!
This story is SO up for interpretation. Spoilers here about the end so for those who haven't read it, you can read it for free first! Though I don't think this is necessarily a "spoilable" story because of the nature of the premise!
Really, a reader can take what they want from the ending. If you're not sure about the end, I think I can assume it's whether or not the couple breaks up? Lmk if I'm wrong!
I don't actually know the answer myself, haha. At one point, I did, but the longer this story sits, the less I know and the more I like the idea that it's very up to interpretation. You can see the ending as the couple getting back together (them coming together over the chowder that brought them together initially and working together as a team to finish the bowl of "gross" food which which they wouldn't do before as the boyfriend refused to eat the girlfriend's "gross" food and the girlfriend refused to take suggestions--lack of compromise both ways being made up by this act of coming together).
You can also see the ending as a breakup (which I think was my initial inclination but it's been over a year since I drafted the story so I actually can't remember--not lying when I say I don't remember my own writing, HA!). In that case, the ending is a bit bittersweet! The characters both understand the other in this moment but also know that even though they understand the other, that's not enough to save this ending relationship. The girlfriend's "This is so bad" dialogue and the boyfriend's "Now you know" dialogue indicates it that they DO get the other--girlfriend finally understands, deeply, how her boyfriend experiences her cooking, where boyfriend has finally met her halfway and is willfully eating "gross" food (and perhaps understanding why she wants to share it with him because it’s an experience, even if the food is strange).
It doesn't matter to me in this case what people take from the ending. If it's just a bizarre ending to a reader, that's fine too! Usually I'm very for authorial intent, but this story I think has taken a life of its own where people relate to it in a very personal (and therefore different) way. I remember my workshop was floored by how much they related to this exact situation (minus the weird food), AKA, how much they related to being in a relationship that's disintegrating, perhaps, but not fully gone (an in-between state where you're not sure where it's going). That experience is going to differ from person to person, and is going to depend on if you've been in a relationship before (I haven't, so I have no idea what that experience is like so was bringing in my own experience elsewhere) & what the relationship was like, etc.
It's really a story about THAT, those confusing, unspeakable points in relationships where you have no idea what something is or is not, or aren’t ready to confront that! I think the uncertainty is something I love most about it, because relationships are not always easy to understand, especially when they’re changing or ending. I wanted to capture the messiness that so many humans go through (whether romantic, platonic, parental, etc).
This story is not a “traditional” or “typical” short story, which is the type I showed in the video (and arguably the easiest to spot/understand/write). But, you 100% can still apply everything I talked about in the video!
Here's the story broken down into the structure I shared in my video (tho a reminder that short stories are moldable so IMO, as long as a story hits the essence of these points, it’s most likely fine and a writer will develop this judgement the more they write stories):
1. Character in particular predicament
A couple’s relationship has grown tense, allegedly because of the narrator’s weird cooking (Peas and Pasta)
The predicament actually happens BEFORE the story, which is a touch different to what you usually see.
2. Event unrolls that disrupts this predicament
The narrator continues to cook weirdly (perhaps on purpose)? (Grass Julep, Four Almonds, Ramen Alfredo, Raspberry zoodles)
There are multiple little events in this case--the disrupting event really is the character continuing to cook this way even though she understands (or maybe doesn’t?) her SO’s feelings about it.
3. Event peaks
Boyfriend asks girlfriend if they should break up (Granola Cheese - this is probably the most important section in the story)
This is the first time they’ve actually truly communicated in the story. It’s a moment of heightened tension in their relationship because they’re seeing each other, I think, for the first time in a long time. She’s making granola cheese because she wants to, and he isn’t participating at all because he doesn’t--this is who they are and they’re both confronting it here.
4. Final revelation that changes the predicament
This is that exact moment: “My hand was sticky. I looked at it. I’d been clutching the nub of extra licorice, hadn’t even realized he’d given the last bite to me. I looked from his shoeprints, already half-gone, to the bit of candy. I stuffed it into the glove compartment where it would probably remain, forever.”
Narrator is holding onto licorice that she doesn’t even like that her boyfriend kindly saved for her (but does she even like licorice? - she doesn’t really know). She looks at his footprints that are disappearing in the snow fast (like he may disappear fast from her life if they break up). She shoves the candy into the glove compartment because it may remain there even if she does not. (Clam Chowder)
The story does continue past this point to resolve itself, but I’d say this is the moment where the narrator has a revelation!
This was a fun story! Thanks for asking!

Genshin Multifandom Drabble/Rant
Ok I know I mentioned having twisted x obey me chapter 2 done but I had another idea for a mixed fandom fic.
Blame my amazing persuasive skills to convince my friend to play genshin and then her wanting to talk about lore while co-oping.
Kinda spoilers for genshin. Like not really just for a few voice lines and which twin is Canon. (Khaenria'h gets mentioned twice so eh)
I'll be referring to Canon (aether as protag and lumine as abyss
So like Aether hasn't been able to find Lumine for 500 years (talk about giving it a boy look). But what if it's because different worlds keep summoning him and when he gets put back he just keeps getting disorientated.
Like he's searching dragonspine for Lumine, gets summoned to another game/anime and then he's plopped back into schneznya. Doesn't help that lumine's hiding in the abyss.
This has the opportunity for nearly 500 different fandoms and Aether's stuck with them for maybe a few months or heck even a year.
And even more potential for a prequel of the twins visiting each place before arriving in teyvat.
Anyway back to the how of Aether being yoinked, say when first travelling through the other worlds Aether (being the doormat he is) left maybe an artifact that can temporarily bring (the assigned twin) to the other world for like a year and then saying like
"if you ever need help again don't hesitate to call".
And when you consider that not every world they travelled to probably had magic. Those artifacts would never get used and instead be like a family heirloom because A:
Every family has some sort of crazy heirloom that you have to question if it's cursed.
And B:
If two people with magic descended from the sky that's God and you don't (theoretically) call them lightly.
But also at least Aether canonically has all his power sealed and the way visions work mean their use is limited to teyvat (visions need elemental energy and the specific formula for elemental energy is likely only found in teyvat). If Aether's statue powers work the same...
Tumblr media
He's just some regular dude who got summoned probably because of someone's desperation. Like the world could be ending and this almighty being that has seen the birth and death of stars (which is surprisingly canon) who descended hundreds of years ago is now a magicless, crop top wearing twink (affectionately) who needs his sister to tell the Macca's employee he asked for no pickles.
I imagine in some worlds they've accidentally started a whole religion around them (more reasons for Celestia to be haters).
This could also apply to Lumine and that's why she spends so much time in the abyss, to make up the time she lost on her summons. Since 1 teyvat day is 1 abyss month (if I remember correctly).
Also if I had a twin and they disappeared on me for 500 after I slept for long enough that (twin in question) pissed of a higher being that sent literal gods to destroy the place. The next time I see them it's a fucking tackle hug them for abandoning me and cause I'd miss them.
The fact Aether is so chill and somehow sane about this implies either A:
He has no capacity to be upset (proven wrong by the chasm quest)
Or B:
This has happened before.
Which lead onto a new headcanon of Lumine and Aether travelling worlds and they'll just randomly fight like
"Noooo it's my turn to overthrow the gods"
"Nuh uh you defeated my evil organisation so I didn't get my full turn"
Soooo after all my ranting basically. Aether or Lumine getting dragged to worlds only to be plopped back in teyvat after their summoning artifact runs out of time.
Obey Me The exchange program
So back to the multifandom part. Imagine that a twin (I'll use Aether as my example) is selected for the human world exchange program due to probably being known for magic in ancient human history books. Then one of two things vould happen.
Barbatos succeeds in summoning Aether because its Barbatos.
or 2
new backstory for a brother of choice, having been given a summoning artifact at somepoint and coming in clutch to summon Aether. Which creates a nice little reunion
and part .5 Paimon can come with and be surprised about archons sharing names with the demons.
If its option 1 I can imagine Aether learning about how much of a dick the brothers father is. Then going like
"Where his he? He needs to know that wasn't right"
(Aether is tired alright pretend its exam season)
Lucifer: "We fought him and lost what makes you so sure you can" Aether: "I've done it before. . ?"
Even if it wasn't specifically Obey me's god. Like it could be and this is how the brothers find out Aether is potentially older than them. Also Aether could totally tell them all these stories about gods he's fought and that its a common thing in each world for someone to fight god.
idk I think that could reasure the brothers.

Would you please do a little something about Amphibia. I’ve always loved the way you put things in perspective :)
HUGE SPOILERS FOR AMPHIBIA'S FINALE BELOW ALSO MESSY POST I DIDN'T REALLY PROOFREAD KINDA WROTE IT AS A STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS
I'm still in the middle of FEELING and THINKING and THINKING ABOUT HOW I FEEL, so my ideas might change in the following days; also, while I certainly have a lot of opinions, I didn't dedicate to this show the amount of time I dedicated to SVTFOE, so I don't feel as comfortable analyzing its themes and ideas inside out.
Anyway: the finale hurt. A lot. It's your classic "change happens" finale, which is something completely in line with the themes the show always had. Could they have gone for something different, keeping the dimensions connected, maybe in a partial way but still connected? Probably. By the end of the series, all notions of escapism surrounding the characters and their time in Amphibia had been solved and replaced by more mature and positive feelings, so I don't think keeping the possibility of Anne and Sprig being in contact would have undermined anything. It's just, evidently, not what Matt Braly wanted. What's wrong with this, beyond a more subjective and personal preference for perfectly happy endings goddamnit I wanted to smile fuck? The possibility, the risk of giving the idea that Amphibia, as a place, doesn't deserve its "agency", and that its role was over the moment Anne, Sasha and Marcy went back home. That it was little more than a dream, a fantasy that stops existing the moment the coming of age journey of the characters is over, and they can leave behind their fantasies.
-which clearly doesn't apply to this show. Amphibia is the main setting of the series, it's a second world to the characters, Sprig and Anne are the main characters and their separation was THE climax of the episode. Still, a possible interpretation given the decision to throw the "leaving behind some things" in the larger hat of "CHANGE AS A POSITIVE" of the show.
Earth and Amphibia being separated, probably forever (sure there's Terri with her portals, fans can dream and speculate, but the girls are OLD now compared to the target age for Disney products, their story as far as Amphibia goes is probably over even in the super unlikely possibility of any kind of spinoff or continuation or comic), hurts a lot. I'm livid. But there was also closure in it, a wonderful goodbye that can never be tainted. It'll forever hurt and I'll forever wish they went in the opposite direction, but that won't haunt me. I accept it.
What about the girls? Somehow, that's the part that hurt me the most, and many other viewers like me. And, in my opinion, that's harder to analyze. And to rationalize.
We get this scene giving us some exposition about what happened during the timeskip, and most of the problems stem from this. Did Marcy not physically visit the girls for almost a decade, or it's a "can't believe it's been ten years since our adventure in Amphibia ended!" kind of deal?
Tumblr media
Does this line mean Marcy knew so little about the girls' lives for all this time, or it's just a way to allow Sasha to give the viewer some exposition?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If it's the former, then why does she know what Anne is doing? A rekindled and recent interest through social media? Or they did talk during all these years, maybe occasionally, the way a lot of real life friends do even when they're not as long distance as they are? I have no answers, I pray for some kind of Word of God Clarification™ from Matt Braly, but I wouldn't count on it since showrunners rarely like explaining stuff like that. But I can, maybe, analyze some of the issues that are currently hurting me, and possible "solutions".
The show takes place over less than a year, the timeskip lasts ten years. To us viewers, 99.9% of the life of the characters happened during that one year, but to the characters, if you were to imagine them as living people with their own agency, the years of the timeskip - highschool and college and beginning of adult life - clearly represented the majority of their lives. And this is the first layer of the issue, something that can affect every work of fiction, the irreconcilable difference between the viewers' perception of the events, and how the character in the work might reasonably act.
Second layer, the show gave us some incredibly tender moments between the three girls, especially in the last episodes, when they had fixed or come to terms with most of their personal issues, forgiving themselves and each other. This probably made their friendship look stronger than it was.
Tumblr media
I use friendship with a very specific meaning in this context, because that's feels like what the show / writing was going for. By the end of their adventure their bond is incredibly strong, more than it has ever been, but as far as friendship goes, the ""problems"" they had before might still exist. Marcy certainly learned to pay more attention to how other are feelings, but that won't magically make Anne and Sasha interested into playing Dungeons & Dragons, and so on.
In a way, this scene told us what we saw in the timeskip.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This applies to Sprig, obviously, but also to the three girls.
Life lead them in different places, maybe different interests -they already had different interests to being with, but they still care about each other more than anything else, even if they might not have (it's an odd sentence I know but it's the best way I can put it) participated in a long time in any of the common rituals of friendship. This much is clear, this scene speaks volume (and that's why I uploaded it as a video, the voice acting and body language is important).
And Matt Braly tweets this
Tumblr media
and says in multiple interviews things like
It really allowed me to think about how we grew apart, we grew back together, we grew apart again, and we found each other again. There’s this beauty in life of these relationships that ebb and flow. That’s what I wanted to bottle up. It’s tricky, though!
And at this point I, poor little viewer who was hoping for the three girls to be best friends forever always together often bought in bulk do not separate for the rest of their lives, am forced to let the two wolves inside me fight.
The one who's fucking sad and who can't believe these girls might have fallen out enough to barely talk for multiple years after everything they went through, after all the work and self improvement and shared experiences that forever changed them and who thinks this is all bullshit and that a five seconds long scene that could have easily been dialogue-less soured a whole show and three wonderful characters for me; And the one who tries to understand the intentions of the show. That friendships come in all form and shapes, that we have the perfection of Spranne, ending at an all times high with external circumstances separating them, and the imperfection of the Calamity Trio, three girls who would (did?) die for each other and drop anything and everything to help, but who still took different paths for a part of their lives. And that's normal, happens to a lot of people, friends can not see each other for years and still act like not even a day passed the next time they meet. But it's also jarring, because in the simple world of a cartoon one would have expected more. But that's also not permanent, the show ends with a promise of change to come, Anne's narration talks of things returning in your life, the very last image of the series is one of pure happiness. It's easy to imagine any number of scenarios leading to their relationship bringing once again on the table "the standard rituals of friendship", because the love and affection never left them for a single moment.
Tumblr media
Which wolf is going to win? I have no idea. Likely the latter, in time, but it's painful. As anyone who followed me during SVTFOE times knows all too well, understanding the themes and intentions of the writers does very little to change the perception of execution, and the way something subjectively resonated with one's preferences and experiences. Also, an open ending is still open, no matter how positive the outlook might be, and that's fertile ground for the demon that is lack of closure and doubt.
I asked a friend who doesn't watch the show for a somewhat unbiased opinion, and they said
Yeah, I can definitely see how it seems uncontroversially positive from a detached point of view
I guess I'll latch onto that adverb as strongly as I can, at least while I eagerly wait for Matt to benevolently bestow on us, through tweets and interviews and AMAs, any minuscule crumble of Word of God that might bring some manner of comfort to our troubled souls. I don't know, something like "whoops my bad didn't realize Marcy and Sasha's lines would have came across as that bad haha it's not like they became strangers soon after coming back from Amphibia it was gradual they still have a group chat Marcy shares memes every day it's just been a while the avalanche of events from highschool to college to starting to work took them by surprise but now things can change, something new can always begin, they still have decades to be together who knows maybe they'll be roommates for the next five years haha".
A man can dream delude himself...

I am like, 12 hours into the game after playing it on and off for the past couple days and all I can say is that its meh. If you like it then all the power to you and I'd love to hear you're reasoning. This is just my little ol' opinion of the thing which I'm hoping will change as I get further into the game. Spoilers beware, you're in for a scare.
Honestly it's not worth the 60$ price tag or the 30$ dlc. Not the biggest fan of the character designs, the walking toothpaste commercial not withstanding just generally don't like any of the designs I've seen so far, especially whenever I need to talk to a character and I just see their hair clipping through their bodies or jiggle physics applied to hair/hair ornaments. Colorful looks aside a lot of them really do feel bland even when I do their support conversations. Feels like there could have been something there but so far its like drinking a flat soda filled with more melted ice than drink.
The boutique isn't for me either but I'm sure the people that want to dress up their characters in different designs are having a ball. Long as people are enjoying that feature I guess.
It is a bit weird that the possible marriage possibility that was introduced all the way back in Awakening but that may have been because the developers didn't want to turn the game into a dating sim. Or at least that's what I'm guessing but who knows, I stayed away from a lot of information regarding the game while it was in development so I wouldn't hype myself up. But with how watered down the characters are it really doesn't seem worth it to S rank anyone if it was available.
The story doesn't grip at all. It is nice to see all the locations and the four different nations plus flying sky island do offer a nice hook that it sadly didn't catch. Wake up with amnesia, get told that you're the kindest bravest person ever to live, find your mom who's a divine god dragon who's also obviously the queen of this land, get a dark and evil vision of yourself grinning evilly, queen dies because she was giving you all her power to wake up and then you go from place to place getting the pieces to dear old dead mom's jewelry collection. All I know is that Alear is the best thing since sliced bread and I would not at all be surprised if the allies on the Somneil became some weird cult.
The fighting mechanics are one of my favorites with how smooth it is at times but even then for a while I still felt something was off. That 'something' being the weapon proficiency leveling up. It doesn't do that unless you get to a high bond level with a Emblem that specializes with that weapon. Or when you change class you can increase you're weapon proficiency a whole rank or even decrease it. It feels a bit clunky still so I don't have much to say.
Also a bit iffy on the decision to get rid of the durability of most items. On one hand now people don't have to worry about their weapons randomly breaking during battle. On the other hand it feels like if you can get your hands on powerful weapons you can cheese the fights cause now you don't have to strategize as much as you did before.
Aside from the battle UI the only other things I can find enjoyment in are Sommie and the animal adoption aspect. Both are adorable and I am so getting every animal I can get my grubby little hands on.
And the Alear and Ring!Marth interactions that make me think they were a couple. Can't help but let out a cackle every so often.
Altogether, I'm just really hoping that the game does get better as I continue playing it. I'm not so much as angry at the game as I am disappointed that there's seemingly feels like there wasn't much thought put into it since it is a Fire Emblem game so obviously there's going to be people who buy it for the name alone. Only time will tell I guess.

Spoilers for Catastrophe at 16.
So uhhh, I don't usually speak up in this fandom, but I have had this on my mind ever since the new Catastrophe at 16 chapter dropped. Right before getting killed, Shinya tried to get Mahiru to accept her weaknesses and give up on the whole world-ending plan. I find it weirdly intriguing for multiple reasons.
1. Why did he do it in the first place?(besides the obvious "apocalipse is bad" ) Worst case scenario, he resents Mahiru, best case scenario, he is indifferent to her. And yet, he tries to reason with her. What if deep down, he felt bad for her? We know Shinya is a master at reading people and he probably knows more abt the experiments since he lived in the Hiragi house so maybe, deep down, a small small part of him genuinely wanted to level with her, even if just for a moment. He found it in himself to think more humanly instead of robotically, and try to apply that mentality, not in a white-knight way like Guren, but a level-headed one typical of Shinya. Some may argue he was stalling for time and yeah, most definetely true, I do feel like his words were true.
2. The way he actually got a bit of a reaction out of her. It wasn't amusement or glee like before, she seemed genuinely irritated.
3. The way they mirror each other. Mahiru cherished power above all else in the end, while Shinya chose his friends, a weakness, something that could get him killed. He had been outrunning death for so long and then he decided to ring at its door. In a way, he reached his goal while Mahiru, 8 years into the future, stil hasn't reached hers. Shinya got a family, a proper one, so he was happy. He got all he ever wished for by embracing the fact that he isn't perfect, and I think that is a cool metaphor. He was only content when he accepted weakness as a part of being human, of being properly, truly alive, only for it to be taken away the next second. There was someone who would actually miss him, someone who cried for him, that was enough.
It is kind of late where I am from and I am unable to concentrate anymore, if I think of anything else, I will ramble some more.
Also I am sorry for any errors and this is just my hot take on what happened.

Theory: Baizhu is...?
Disclaimer: this is a theory, it doesn't have to be true, if its false, don't blame me, I warned you beforehand
Also, take this with humor and not to seriously
And spoilers of Liyue's or Xiao's lore
Ok let's begin with this
It seems that Baizhu is an outlander like Albedo or Amber's grandfather (just examples, they had nothing to do with this) but he does have a vision, a Liyuan one, but Zhongli didn't seem to know about him... So he is probably of Liyue or he has more than he looks like
So either Baizhu is a snake like creature (like a lamia), or is he an Adeptus?
Exhibit 1: let's take a look to his face
Tumblr media
Author, more close
Tumblr media
His face seems familiar... Were did I see it? Oh wait-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They had the same make up, and believe me when I said that almost all the Adepti use the same make up (only Madame Ping and Mountain Shaper (I think)) use that type
Also, Xiao and Baizhu have the same pupils
Tumblr media
Ok, maybe I'm wrong but as I said before, don't take this seriously, but if it's true I f-ing called it
Exhibit 2: Baizhu's sickness
If you have Qiqi or talk with Herbalist Gui, you'll know that Baizhu has a sickness that made him frail, Qiqi mentions that even tho she's a zombie, she's much better than Baizhu
So why this is important?
I don't know what sickness he has but if this is true, I may know were he got his sickness
'Some of the archons' souls were filled with bitterness at their fate, and refused to suffer it any longer. Their bitterness materialized and became evil monsters. The monsters' rage manifested itself in the form of diseases, monster infestations, and all kinds of other strange occurrences' is a little extract of the book Yakshas: The Vigilant Adepti, you can see were this is going
So, I think Baizhu was a Yaksha, to be more precise, Bosacius
If you did the Yaksha's wish, you'll know that Bosacius was the missing Yaksha, and is presumably dead
In this quest you encounter his statement, were he leaves his wealth to the one that's fated to it, in simple terms, you
So, this is my theory, Bosacius was contaminated by the corruption and disease, so once his duties were done, he would end his suffering, but he might failed and/or was saved by Changsheng
If this is true, Changsheng might be like Qiqi, someone who has Adeptal energy or because an Adepti, but my only exhibits with this are that she can speak, that she's been with Baizhu for a very long time and that she's diurnal
But hey, before you said 'BuT oZ iS-!' Oz is probably a manifestation of Fischl's vision's powers
Either way, at some point, Bosacius changed his name to Baizhu and at some point meet Changsheng, later open (or began to work at) the Bubu Pharmacy, he took Qiqi in, while trying to cure his disease, hint why Herbalist Gui tell us that he's ill since they first met til today and hasn't gone better
And if you look at Baizhu for the very first time, would you tell me that he's sick? Because for me, he isn't
Now this could apply to Rouran but we 'haven't' met him nor have a model of him, neither more information about him other than he's male, the owner of Pearl Galley, we meet him without noticing, and that he is physically frail
So that it, that's the theory
I'm going to admit that I was planning on taking about his medicines because they mentioned that they are traditional, and I thought 'oh! Maybe Guizong showed him how to made them?'
Anyways, sorry for not posting here (I decided to work on many oneshots and never finished them), many things happened but I got a Diluc (in Zhongli's banner (yay!)) a Jean, Wolf's gravestone and another Mona (got one earlier) on the Wanderlust Invocation while trying to get the Primordial Jade-wingded Spear for Xiao and thanking Paimon that I don't need any 4 star of Ganyu's banner nor their constellations, and I don't want Ganyu honestly (for now) I waited since the beginning for Xiao and I will get him
Have a great day/night, stay safe, take care of your self and good luck with your pulls
And for the Xiao's simps or stans, keep going! We only need to suffer for like 20 days before his banner (if he goes first (which I hope so))
Edit 1 (18/1/2021) (don't know how many edits this will have):
Thanks for the likes, this literally blew up, and I really wanted to say that I appreciate it
Anyways, this edit is short because I just saw Baizhu's vision and a little thought I had so

That vision chain thing and Xiao's shoulder pad (?) look so similar (for me) that I actually suffer through an Mandela effect (I thought that Baizhu's vision chain was identical to Xiao's shoulder pad)
This doesn't add to much but I kinda find it curious (if you want, picture me with the clown wig and make up, I don't blame you)
By the way, the daughter that Huixin mentions she has is Yaoyao? Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me, someone tasked Ganyu to take care of her, and that someone is working in the Ministry of civil affairs, and the first thing that comes in my mind if you ask me of someone who's Ganyu's underling, the first thing that comes to my mind is Yaoyao, if it's true tho... I called it!

The final road before the bend that led to Gojo Manor stretched before Nanami, signaled by the consistent shield of the ancient cryptomeria trees that lined the road side. The forest was a momentary relief from the glare of the sun reflecting on the windshield of his silver Lexus. Such was the inconvenience of driving in the middle of a bright day when the sun was at its pedestal, making no room for shadows, no reprieve from the heat. He detested it.
A sigh escaped his lips. It’s supposed to be the beginning of autumn, he was thinking for the umpteenth time that day. He would really appreciate it if the Siberian winds would herald the actual beginning of the season. Yes, he thought. That would be nice.
The weather was, nevertheless, the least of his worries, and as he finally made the turn to the incongruously long gravel driveway of the estate, the real cause of his anxiety reared its head to the surface, presaged by the denser shadows of trees and the high gables of the colossal structure that housed the seat of the Gojo clan. It was supposed to be unfounded, his apprehension, or so he tried to convince himself since deciding to make an appearance earlier than expected. He couldn’t keep it at bay anymore when the emotion was mixed with hopeful anticipation. An odd combination, indeed.
He had no choice but to come, or rather, he wanted to come. It was for an important occasion anyway, Gojo Satoru and Utahime Iori’s wedding week specifically. If he was being honest, he wouldn’t miss it for the world. If it was significant to two of the most important people in his life then the same applies where his views on the matter was concerned. After all, he greatly appreciated it that Gojo chose him as his best man, well one of them anyway. The man could never make up his mind if he tried so, breaking the traditional order of things, he has two “best men” – him and Geto Suguru.
Much to the groom-to-be’s disappointment, Nanami initially planned to show up a day before the ceremony itself. It was an added displeasure to the fact that Geto wasn’t going to show up until later that week as he was overseas for work. Gojo still probably was disappointed since Nanami did not exactly say anything about showing up earlier. But when he saw an opening in his jampacked schedule which was rare, he took the opportunity to take time off work. As annoying as Gojo was, he did not deserve to have two absent best men on his wedding week. Besides, a week away from the firm wouldn’t hurt, and he thought it was a good way to unwind before his big case.
If he would be able to unwind anyway.
The man had been sure of how he would manage through the occasion if he only spent a maximum of two days surrounded by crowds which were sure to be invited to the happy celebration. After all, nobody ever expected the young master of the Gojo Clan to ever be serious enough about anyone romantically, much less get married. Now that he had to stay for longer, giving chances to more occurrences of a variety of events, he wasn’t so certain. Anything could happen at Gojo Manor. Anything.
His optimism relied on that fact. Troublesome things usually happened with Gojo and Geto together, throw in the other members of the family and the other clans in the area, but Nanami was betting everything on this week.
A pair of cool, aqua eyes met his dark orbs the moment he stepped into the semi-outdoor ballroom of the opulent house. It was always like instinct, the way Nanami’s senses seem to heighten and hyper focus on one person, all else tuned out and seemingly nonexistent. Like always, without a hitch, he found you.
Alas. If he was questioning the reason for his hopefulness, that wasn’t the case anymore.
There you were, stood on the elevated corner by the refreshments table. You appeared like a celestial being walking among mortals, the halo of silvery white hair shimmering under the sunlight filtering through the room making you seem as if you did not exactly exist in the same realm as everyone else.
You were initially not paying attention to anyone despite your cousin, Miwa, chatting away beside you. But then, you leaned towards the latter when she whispered something, being equally conspiratorial by raising your champagne flute to your mouth. By the looks of it, prior to that, you have long tuned them out, Miwa and her friends, what with your poor attempt at pretending to pay attention. Nanami knew you have mastered the art of doing so since you were a child. It wasn't on purpose, or so you say. You were simply oblivious most of the time or you just didn't care. And you tended to only see and hear what you wanted.
At the moment, he was the object of your attention. He was sure of it, unable to help but to be much too aware of it, nerves pulled to their limits like piano strings conditioned to make sounds at the slightest of touch of its ebony and ivory keys. The feeling he had made you real, existing. He wasn’t imagining at all.
At times, he still could not believe that he watched you grow up to the person you are at present. The first time he knew of your existence was when Gojo invited him and some of their other friends to that very house in middle school. You were just as remarkable as a child as you are as a grown woman, much too quick-witted and eloquent at six even as your nanny carried you astride her hip, looking very much like a female infant version of Gojo. The bright blue eyes you shared with the male shone with the same intelligence he possessed, probably more, even without doing or saying anything. It just emanated from the two of you even if Gojo behaved like an utter idiot at times.
You shifted your line of vision to Miwa who was inconspicuously flailing her hands as a silent and agitated command for the other girls to disperse when she saw Nanami approaching. In a split second, you were alone. Miwa has always been unreasonably fidgety around him but he never quite understood why.
"I seemed to have driven away your company," he said to you the moment he was within earshot, watching you exchange your empty glass for another that's full.
You finally faced him, your scintillating eyes glittering under the wide skylights above. They were fathomless as they were luminous, shining with mischief. It was a familiar sight. From a state of tedium, they seem to come alive at the idea of tormenting him.
"I don't mind."
Of course not. The corners of his mouth curled inconspicuously at that similarity he shared with you. "I seem to always offend that cousin of yours."
"Not really. Frighten is more like it." Your eyes stayed on him even as you drank from your glass.
"Frightened?" Nanami repeated with inflection. He knew Miwa was awkward around him, but it was news that she was afraid of him. He didn’t have anything against her since unlike you, she was actually a sweet girl.
"Well, you have always been purposefully abrasive, you have taken the language of sarcasm to a whole new level and you are a grouch," you told him without batting an eyelash when everyone else was intimidated by him. You were probably the only one who could treat him that way. Not even your brother who is his best friend could do that and mean it.
His planned glance turned into a sidelong stare when he saw how you were eyeing him the same way. The difference was that you had a knowing look about you, evident in the way your eyes shone with diablerie and the contumelious curl at the corners of your luscious lips.
"Is that your opinion of me?" he asked, his expressions remaining stoic. Inside, it was a different story. You are the last being on earth he wanted to view him the way others usually did. He always thought you acted around him differently – defied him, messed with his head (and heart if he was being honest), and annoyed him – because you saw him differently, too. He liked that idea, the feeling it gives him. It was already enough that you are forbidden territory because you are his best friend's little sister. He didn't want you to turn out to be just like everyone else.
You grinned but didn't satisfy his query with a response. It was just like you to keep him guessing that way. You loved your games and especially loved to play them with him. He liked to play along at times, but it gets difficult to keep up with your antics. Your thought process was something he still has to figure out despite years of knowing you.
Seeing that he wasn't getting anywhere by engaging you, he said, "Where's the groom-to-be?"
You pointed at the direction of the wood-framed glass doors leading to the indoor salon where your brother was speaking to one of the organizers for his wedding.
When Nanami followed your line of vision, he found the person in question. On a long table before Gojo were different arrangements of flowers, all in shades of pink, cream and white. Honestly, he saw no difference but Gojo was eyeing them as if choosing the right one will solve global warming.
"Being fussy about the flower arrangements more than his bride, obviously." Shaking his head, he shoved his hands into the pockets of his grey, pinstriped slacks before facing you again. "You think it's a good time to step in?"
At that, you smirked openly. "Wanna play a game, Nanamin?" you asked, appearing and sounding innocent as you addressed him with that nickname you knew he hated.
"Sure," he said without hesitation, knowing well the kind of person you are when you’re refused.
"No protestations this time, I see. You're learning."
He shot you a withering look, pushing his glasses up his nose. "That coming from a childish brat. I won't take offense." He immediately regretted saying that when he saw how your eyes glinted with something sinister. What it was, he didn't know, but he was sure about one thing: he just walked into another one of your traps willingly.
"Whoever gets a rise out of Satoru wins," you said, cocking your head to your brother's general direction.
That was easy, he thought. The fact that he showed up for the week-long preparations for the nuptials was enough to draw out a profound reaction from Gojo. Nanami was just that kind of best friend – absent. In his defense, he did make it to the important parts just in time, but this was something new to Gojo. For all he knew, he wasn't even expecting him to arrive until the wedding.
"Fine." He nodded at you, the action very minute. He was never big on actions. "We'll talk about the compensation later."
You returned the gesture with saccharine mordacity to it. "Alright." However, instead of moving towards the goal, you walked towards the other direction, signaling for him to go first.
It was an easy victory. The moment he walked into the salon, Gojo’s attention was immediately pulled away from the flower arrangements, his eyes going wide as saucers as he took in the fact that his best man arrived way ahead of time.
"Who are you and what have you done to Nanami Kento?" he asked aloud, making some of the guests for the day's luncheon turn towards them. He was evidently elated, his wife-to-be coming to join in, hugging Nanami while he clapped the man on the shoulder.
"I wouldn't miss this happy occasion for the world," Nanami told the couple, trying his best to convey his thoughts without sounding patronizing. That would be overdoing things even if it meant he would win against you. He wasn’t big on emotions and sentiments either.
All the while, his eyes furtively strayed to you, his competitor, watching you from way across the ballroom, sipping leisurely at your champagne as if you cannot be bothered. However, if Nanami thought he has seen the worst that you can do, he couldn't have been more mistaken in his life.
In the next moment, you entered the salon, appearing self-satisfied as you sauntered towards them, looking like a queen surveying your domain. "Well, well. If it isn't the big shot lawyer himself, coming to grace us with his presence!"
He clucked his tongue, reading through your ploy. You weren’t exactly one for theatrics most of the time, typically straightforward and brutally frank, but your games were as intricate as they were vexing. Nanami turned to face you just enough to conceal his expression from Gojo and Utahime, arching a brow at you in both challenge and question.
In a flash of black and white, you have taken your place in front of him barely a foot away. Your intention to further close the distance between the both of you only became evident when both your hands shot forward, taking possession of both sides of his face as you willed him to bend to your height, tiptoeing to make up for the remaining space. In a brief but seemingly drawn-out sequence of events, you staked your claim on his slightly parted mouth in a scorching lip lock.
Nanami was momentarily distracted by the faint taste of champagne, that detail registering in his brain before the sensation of your pliant lips pressed against his. The realization dawned too late making blood rush up to his head and for his ears to ring as he froze and burned simultaneously. His arms had unconsciously found their way around your slender waist, the feel of your warmth under your taffeta dress searing his palms. It was more for the purpose of steadying himself than you on your precariously high heels. The mere touch of your hand made him incoherent, but the feeling of your lips on his drove him to irrationality. The slim likeliness of the act happening between him and you made it feel as if he was going to pass out or wake up from a long, vivid dream.
He was there. He exists. You were there, real as can be. And you were kissing him.
Gasps erupted from all around, and before he knew it, you have pulled away, releasing your grip on him. As if he couldn’t dig his grave any deeper and punctuate his loss any further, Nanami leaned towards you, chasing your lips, attempting to continue your little interlude, uncaring of where you were or who was watching. After having a tiny taste of it, the absence of your touch affronted him like no other. If having you that close was what it meant to lose, then he will gladly have it.
Your laughter snapped him out of his trance. When his vision focused, he found you leaning away, your hand pressed against his chest to keep him at bay.
“Eager, aren’t we?” you said loud enough for him to hear, and for everyone’s benefit, you droned on, saying, “Been dying to do that since I saw you come in.”
Dazed, he just stared at you before him, the fact that he did not just lose to you within the premise of the game registering in his mind like a flash of lightning. Blood rushed to his head, heat permeating from the base of his neck to his scalp when his eyes strayed to Gojo who looked scandalized.
“You…what…” the other male endeavored to speak, but nothing coherent came out of his mouth, his blue eyes rapidly shifting between you and Nanami while his fiancée giggled beside him.
Indifferent to everything else and your sights only set on the object of your trickery, you tittered, savoring the hilarity of the situation. At least, to you, it was funny. “See you around, Nanamin,” you drawled and left with that confident gait, shaking your head in levity.
He wanted to join in on your conviviality, but the idea dissipated faster than water under intense heat when he saw his best friend eyeing him like he was about to castrate him. Nanami straightened up, rearranging his expression to that of quiet shock, laying it on thick by blinking cluelessly as if it was typical of him but Gojo was having none of it.
Ah, the joys of losing to you, he could just think despite his impending doom. Or maybe he was doomed to begin with. He couldn’t care less with the pleasant tingling of his lips and the memory of yours, the taste lingering on his tongue.
“You and me, in the game room. You’ve a lot of explaining to do.”
**
If Nanami would be asked how many times he lost to you, he wouldn’t have an answer. At least not for what is healthy for his pride and because he lost count. His only consolation was that he wasn’t the only one who had ever been under your thumb over the years you have had the upper hand. You’ve always had the advantage, and one way or the other, regardless of the odds of the games you played, be it tomfoolery or serious bets, you invariably have a way of turning them into your favor.
He could well say his chances of winning cases in court is higher compared to the fact that you always bested him in life. It frustrated him to no end.
“Wanna play a game?” Those were always the words which heralded a series of infuriating inconveniences that he, along with some other individuals, had to be subjected to ever since you acquired your penchant for mischief and seeming thirst to challenge if not victimize people.
Those words, paired with a ridiculous nickname of your choosing for each of your conquests gave one no choice but to engage. The way you say it was enough to rile even someone who just happened to be listening, as if you were surreptitiously patronizing the person of your choosing. The unreadable expression on your face when you initiate your games also makes one’s hackles rise. While Gojo had the same tendency to be condescending when he wanted to be, you were exponentially more menacing compared to him.
In your defense, you never did it to everyone. It was as if you have a rationale behind the selection of people you felt like messing with. Your criteria was not something that is known to anybody else. At first, it was just Gojo. Then Geto and Shoko Ieiri, another close friend of your brother, got a taste of it until finally, it was his turn. Anyone none the wiser would think your ‘affections’ were solely focused on Gojo’s friends, but apparently, it wasn’t the case.
There were three kinds of people where your games were concerned: people you didn’t give a damn about, those you liked to play with and those you engaged with but eventually stopped being a pain to.
Most people around you were the first type since you mostly didn’t give two fucks about them. For some reason, it had become a sort of status quo in the Gojo household to be included in your sphere but few were lucky enough to hold your attention long enough.
The third kind were people who seemed to have reached an understanding with you. Geto, Utahime and Shoko used to be casualties in your ploys, but after a game or two, they’ve eventually ‘graduated,’ and you treated them like equals. Apart from that, there seems to be an exceptional case when you did not have to inflict yourself on the person just like in the case of your closest friend, Itadori Yuuji. That kid was special somehow, and Nanami thought perhaps he was, too, until you got started with him.
As for him and Gojo, they were still people you liked to torment. His theory was that you were looking for something from the people you play with. If you find it, you stop. It wasn’t a theory anymore that it was a sort of defense mechanism if he deduced right, judging from the situations which led to the change in your behavior.
It all started when you came home from boarding school overseas after finishing your freshman year in high school. Gojo had invited them over as per usual for the summer events being held at their estate but suddenly started talking about his concerns over you.
“She’s distant,” he said with a sigh when asked about it. Apparently, your parents were upset over you decision not to attend the school of their choice anymore and threatened to drop out and run away if they insisted further. “And there seems to be something wrong with her. She seems different somehow. Very snappy and always in a foul mood. She rarely leaves her room, and when we try to help, she gets angrier.”
“She’s in that phase, huh?” Shoko mused. “Want me to talk to her?”
Gojo insisted to do it, being all dramatic and saying he had been a lousy brother. But that’s when you started being the way you were. You weren’t an angry teen anymore, just someone who indulged yourself by toying with others without regard to whose expense and to what extent. Most of them were harmless, but you very nearly endangered two of your friends, too.
Nanami dug his own grave when he purposefully tried to have a go at you, pointing out your mistakes in an attempt to intervene at that time. You used to be rather passive where he was concerned, polite even, but then everything changed that night.
He was somehow glad that you decided to approach him when you needed help when you usually gravitated towards Geto, surprised to see you at his doorstep past midnight and looking ashen.
First, you dared this new girl, Kugisaki Nobara, to sneak into the abandoned factory at night, and the girl ended up hurting yourself. You looked so regretful and distraught while explaining what happened on the ride to the factory, and for the first time, he realized that you only ever challenged people you held a certain degree of fondness for. Everything ended well without anybody else knowing of your mishaps but him, and in a twist of fate, she even became your first real friend.
And then, you started yet another game with Fushiguro Megumi, effectively getting him kicked out his father’s clan. You weren’t exactly aware about the deeper reason as to why his family wanted him to be close to you, only that you found displeasure in it because he was a groom candidate. It was common among old clans like yours, and when you dared him to tell your parents he had no intention of marrying you, your brother had to intervene and take the boy in, ending up registered under Gojo Clan instead. While his family was trash in all sense of the word, you were still at fault since you ruined his only chance at being accepted by the clan head. Still, he, too, became your friend, and more than that, an adopted brother.
“Is this some attention-seeking behavior you’ve learned somewhere?” Nanami asked you that time.
“I get attention without as much as lifting a finger being who I am.” You snorted. “I can’t expect everything to be positive though.”
He was taken aback by your statement then. Still, he tested his theory. You were different after all. While some people admired you for your genius and your otherworldly looks, there will always be those who hated you for it. It was like a repeat of Gojo, except that he had them, his friends. Whom did you have?
“Are you being bullied at school?”
At that, your pupils constricted, your bright eyes turning icy as you regarded him. You were quiet for a moment as you stared, not exactly enraged but your brows furrowed together. Nanami could see the cogs in your brain moving through your eyes when you slowly grinned and said those four words: “Wanna play a game?”
He’s been losing to you ever since, not really knowing what you want and what set you off, hell-bent on making him miserable at every opportunity you could take.
It wasn’t all different at present.
The moment he heard the click of the doorknob and your scent – a mix of crisp autumn air, vanilla and a hint of something that reminded him of happiness – registered in his brain, he froze on his chair in the study where he was currently taking notes on his upcoming case. It was a trade-off for the length of time he would be gone from the law firm he worked at. His grip on his pen tightened that he thought he would break it to splinters when he saw you from his periphery, still looking like a goddess, fresh and gorgeous despite the day's affairs.
You were so painfully beautiful that concentrating on the file before him was proving to be difficult. Everything else didn't make sense to him whenever you were in the same room as he is. It didn't help that you kissed him in front of everyone just a few hours ago. He couldn't forget the feeling no matter how many times he convinced himself that it was just you playing your games; that it was nothing. He wished it was otherwise, not that it helped in his cause a bit.
"What on earth was that about?" Gojo demanded, pulling him aside to the game room like a child who did something naughty. In fairness to him, he was still fond enough of Nanami to offer him a drink but, indeed, he thought, what on earth was that about?
He shrugged. "Have you met your sister? Surely, you know just what crazy antics she has up her sleeves. She gets her annoying side from you anyway."
The answer seemed to have placated the male for the time being but if you were going to continue with your mischief, Nanami has no way of telling where things can go. And judging by your confident gait and the complacent grin swathed on your countenance, you were up to no good again.
He carded his fingers through his blond locks, leaning back on the chair as he furtively watched you.
"Do you need anything?" he asked calmly despite himself.
"Hmm. I won," you murmured, rounding the heavy oak desk before vaulting yourself up on it to sit just beside his papers, your eyes zeroing in on the files.
He shot you an accusing glare. "What was that about?"
You arched a brow at him, wrenching your gaze from the documents with a frown, the way your eyes widened in mock innocence making him want to box your ears. "What was what about, Nanamin?” The preposterous nickname rolled off your tongue tauntingly. “I thought you hated questions that can be openly interpreted."
"Why did you kiss me?" he snapped.
"Well..." You openly mocked him with a smile. "Could there be any other reason apart from our bet?"
"Of all the things you could think of, you went for something that would give your brother a heart attack not to mention that it put me in hot waters."
“Isn’t that the objective of our little bet?”
He sighed. "This is the last time I'm indulging you."
"Eh? You said that the last time we saw each other, too." You feigned exasperation. "Doesn't change the fact that you lost again though."
"What do you want?" He finally sat up straight, stacking the documents on the table. "Why are you sitting there anyway?"
"You're right." You jumped off the desk and much to his confusion, instead of taking one of the seats at the other side of the table, you swatted his arm from the papers and sat on his lap like he was an easy chair.
"What –"
You turned to him then, your faces just inches from one another. "Is this better?" you asked as if you saw nothing wrong with your iffy position.
Nanami didn't know what to do with, his arms remaining still on his sides while he just stared at you as if you grew two heads. "Is this another one of your games?"
You leaned closer to him, your bright eyes drowning him. "You tell me." You laughed then. "I wasn't the one who couldn't get enough of this afternoon's kiss."
He shrugged before he could run away with his thoughts. You were right. He did want to kiss you more, but it wasn't as if he could.
Just then, you reached over and removed the glasses that were always perched over his nose then wore it yourself. "What are you doing?"
"You look better without them," you commented.
"I need them for reading." He rolled his eyes at you. "Get off, Y/N."
"Hmm? Is that really what you want?" you taunted, your hand having found purchase at the back of his head, fingers toying with his soft hair.
He placed a hand on your thigh, slowly climbing up to your hip, reveling in the feel of your warmth under his touch. He looked at you seriously then and leaned away, surprised when you frowned momentarily. It was so fleeting, he didn’t know whether he was imagining it when he saw disappointment on your face. That was a first.
"Y/N, Just tell me what you want. You won the bet after all."
Shrugging, you stood up as if you weren’t just perched on his lap. "Go figure," you quipped, sounding pissed off. "Think of something I would actually want. It's up to you."
“Another game?”
“Think of it as you want.”
"What?"
You slammed the door close in your wake before he could get an answer, once again leaving him there puzzled at your reaction and exasperated with himself.
-end of Part 1-
First of all, Happy Cake Day to the love of my life, Nanamin!
I made him a lawyer here cause that's freakin' hot!!!
*I used “you” here, but since my character is Gojo’s little sister who is established to be his female clone for reasons essential to the plot, she possesses the same blue eyes and white hair. I did not exactly want to create an OC (although technically, I did by describing Y/N), but I opted for the best of both worlds in this fic, leaning more towards the literary aspect of it as opposed to it just being reader/you-oriented. I hope this isn’t iffy to anyone, and yeah, i’m not being exclusive or whatever.
Everyone's aged up here as well, including the younger characters which will be included in the story.
Thank you so much for reading. Likes, comments and reblogs are deeply appreciated! Hope you enjoyed it.

The summer air is buzzing with excitement for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. Banners of the big sports event line the streets above all of the shops and stalls. The year may be 2021, but it seems like the event’s delay only fueled the nation’s anticipation.
The street you’re walking down hasn’t changed much in the past three years since you last worked in the area, so it doesn’t take long for you to spot the familiar Onigiri Miya sign. Nostalgia overtakes your senses when you reach your destination and slide open the entrance to the restaurant.
“Welcome to-! Oh, hi!” Your cousin Kimura greets you as you walk in and then swiftly turns around. “Boss, she’s here!”
Osamu looks up from the counter and smiles when he makes eye contact with you. He doesn’t seem to be busy at the moment, so you both walk towards the back of the room to stand in front of one another.
He gives you a small pout. “It’s been a while. I missed you, (Name).”
“Osamu, we went on a date last week.” You giggle at his expression and place a hand on his cheek. The two of you instinctively lean towards one another and share a sweet kiss. After parting, you look up at him to continue the conversation. “The Olympics is less than two weeks away. Of course, I’m gonna be busy. You know, ‘cause that’s like a big thing for sports? And, my job is also kind of big on sports?”
“I knooww, but you’ve been so busy with work,” Osamu whines.
“I just happened to get my job right before one of the biggest sports events in Japan. You can blame Kuroo-san for that.” You remember when you had called Kuroo a couple days after your graduation asking if he could still hook you up with a job offer. It didn’t even take a minute for him to pass the phone to one of his superiors. You’re still shocked to this day on how you were able to secure a job after how much you stuttered in that call. If he hadn’t helped you get your job, Kuroo would’ve been on your hit list.
“Speaking of jobs and sports, I’ll let you in on a little tidbit.” Osamu places a hand next to his mouth as if he were about to tell you some big secret. “I heard there’s a super competent sports nutritionist working with the men's’ national volleyball team.”
A laugh escapes your lips as he mentions your occupation. “Really? I’ve heard her say that Onigiri Miya is her favorite restaurant of all time and that she’s dating the owner.”
“Lucky girl.” Osamu shifts his legs so that he’s able to lean against the counter. “What made you choose being a sports nutritionist again? You originally applied for your program ‘cause you wanted to be an exercise physiologist, right?”
“My program had a pretty broad range of studies and all of the students were able to have some exposure to a bunch of professions before we ultimately had to choose. An exercise physiologist seemed pretty cool, but I really loved the dynamic of a sports nutritionist and how they work with athletes. And, I don't know, I guess sports and food just clicked?” You shrug your shoulders lightheartedly while Osamu nods his head in understanding.
Your conversation is cut off by your phone’s ringtone indicating an incoming call. When you look at the caller ID, you see Bokuto’s name with a silly picture of his nostrils that he had taken when he had given you his number. You take a seat on one of the counter chairs and give Osamu a confused look when he sits down next to you. “Aren’t you in the middle of work right now?”
Osamu shrugs his shoulders. “It’s been a slow day, and the few customers here are doing alright. I’m curious about how they treat you now.”
With a simple nod, you slide your finger over your screen to answer the call with an automatic greeting, “Hey, Bokuto-san. Did something happen?”
“(Surname)-chan!” Bokuto’s exclamation causes you to wince at the loudness. “I have a question!”
“What’s your question?”
There’s a brief rustling noise on the other end before Bokuto replies. “I know we’re supposed to be on a pretty strict diet, but Mori-Mori brought some tasty jelly snacks! Can I eat some?”
You sweatdrop at the childish inquiry. “Yeah, that’s fine. Ask Komori-san to bring some tomorrow as well.”
“Got it! Thanks, (Surname)-chan!”
Bokuto hangs up the call right after thanking you, and Osamu snickers at the interaction. “So, this is what it’s like being the nutritionist of the biggest volleyball team in the nation?”
“Oh, you have no-” You're interrupted by your phone’s ringtone once again. When you look at your screen, you see Bokuto’s name flash. With a sigh, you answer. “Hello?”
“(Surname)-chan! Yayaku brought some really delicious honey chips and I was wondering if I could eat those too? They look really good!” Bokuto asks fervently.
You bring a hand up to pinch the bridge of your nose. “Bokuto-san, you know you don’t have to ask me every time you want to eat something. I’m a nutritionist, not a mother. I just help you with your diet. Snacks are okay in moderation. I’m sure Yaku-san wouldn’t mind letting you have some.”
“That’s true…Okay, I won’t call you anymore today! Bye, (Surname)-chan!” Bokuto hangs up but not before you hear another voice in the background that screams ‘See? I told you!’.
Osamu finally lets out a hearty laugh as he watches you place your phone on the counter. “They sure keep you on your toes. Is work always like this?”
“Nah. They all have a pretty good amount of respect for me, so it’s actually really nice working with them most of the time. Although, I’ve had to wrangle in some of the guys before they did anything stupid.”
“I'd imagine it’s been pretty hectic considering the people you’ve been working with.”
“It’s...definitely a strange dynamic. Most of the guys on the team are pretty chill with a few exceptions. Atsumu’s the same as always, but at least I have Ojiro-san now to reel him in. Not to mention my co-worker, Iwaizumi-san, is a godsend.”
The man beside you raises an eyebrow at the unfamiliar name. “Iwaizumi? Can’t say I’ve ever heard of him before.”
“He’s the athletic trainer for the team. We work together to make sure everyone’s taking care of themselves.” You scroll through your phone and pull up a picture of your co-worker when he was helping some of the athletes with their stretches.
“Damn.” Osamu eyes the screen intently. “Should I be worried that he’ll steal you away from me?”
“Based on your reaction, I should be worried he’ll steal you away from me. Plus, apparently some of the guys have been secretly plotting for you and me to get together for the past three years and will make sure nothing gets in the way.”
You share another moment of laughter. You’re about to change the subject to ask him about the shop, but your phone rings for the third time today. When you check, you’re surprised to see a call from the man you were just talking about. “Speak of the devil.”
This time you answer with the speaker on so that Osamu can hear. “What’s up, Iwa-san?”
There’s a tired sigh from the other end before Iwaizumi finally speaks up. “They’re going insane over eating too many snacks, and they don’t want to get in trouble with you. It doesn’t matter what I tell them ‘cause they won’t listen to me. When are you coming back? I’m about to rip my hair out or punch someone.”
“I’ll be back in Tokyo by tomorrow, so you’re gonna have to hold them off until then.” You don’t hide the amused smile and Osamu audibly snickers.
“Oh, shit. Are you with someone? Sorry, to bother you on your day off,” Iwaizumi apologizes.
You let out a small noise of reassurance. “No, you’re good. I know it’s a handful to watch over them by yourself. You could probably get the coach to let them start a practice game or something to keep them distracted for the rest of the day.”
“Sounds good. Thanks, (Surname)-san. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
This time, you hang up the phone first and silence your ringer. When you face Osamu again, your heart flutters at the way he’s staring at you. He has one hand squishing into his cheek from being propped up on the counter making his face rounder, and his gaze is soft. He’s going to be the death of you.
“S-so, any news on the shop? I kind of miss working here. We went through quite a lot of...interesting experiences.” You curse at yourself silently for stuttering, but it seems like Osamu doesn’t think too much of it.
“Not really. We have been getting a lot more customers but nothing too crazy. It was honestly the craziest when you were around,” Osamu responds. For the next couple minutes, you both reminisce over the year you worked at Onigiri Miya with a couple added thoughts from the two of you.
Your first day of work. (“I’m sure Bokuto-san has figured out his taxes by now, right?”)
When you met Atsumu. (“Really? He told me you knocked over the eggs.”)
The MSBY welcome party for Hinata. (“I never let them into the shop with any form of alcohol after that. Even Sakusa-san’s sanitizers are a hazard.”)
When you met your favorite Youtuber. (“He won’t let me pay for his patreon. He just keeps giving me stuff for free! No, I’m not complaining.”)
The Shiratorizawa alumni reunion. (“I really didn’t mean to kick him that hard.”)
Meeting the Schweiden Adlers. (“Hey, don’t laugh at me. I admired Romero-san just as much as you admired Kozume-san.”)
Meeting Osamu’s high school friends. (“Yeah, I was jealous when Kita-san gave you his sweater.”)
The MSBY promotion day. (“Oh, stop pouting. It was an accident, Osamu. I always remembered to lock the door while changing after that.”)
When you were stuck because of a storm. (“A month? You had that hoodie in the back room for a month??”)
The big game day. (“Wow. You had yourself a whole harem- ow! That was a joke!”)
Your last day of ‘work’. (“I still have the card you gave me on my nightstand. Means a lot to me.”)
As you’re wrapping up your trip down memory lane, a phone suddenly rings. It can’t be yours since you’ve silenced it, and your suspicions are confirmed when Osamu takes out his phone from his pocket. He doesn’t seem to recognize the number, but answers in case it’s for work. “Hello? Miya Osamu speaking.”
A familiar voice shouts into the phone from the other end. “‘Samu! I wanna ask (Name)-chan something. I know she’s with you!”
“‘Tsumu? Who’s phone are you calling from?” Osamu asks.
“I...borrowed Yaku-san’s phone for a bit. (Name)-chan isn’t answering my calls, and I know you wouldn’t answer if you saw my number,” Atsumu whines. “Why is (Name)-chan ignoring my calls?!”
At your confusion, you pull out your phone. Surely enough, there are 3 missed call notifications from Atsumu. You and Osamu give each other a look of understanding before Osamu directs his attention back to his phone. “Because she has better taste in men. Don’t call again while she’s with me. Ask her tomorrow.”
“What?! I want to talk to her right now- gah! Yaku-san-!” The call cuts off right after you hear the blonde’s outcry. (He probably got caught by the libero and is going through hell right now. Rest in peace, Miya Atsumu.)
Once the call disconnects, the screen flashes back to Osamu’s lockscreen and a warm feeling encompasses you when you see that it’s the picture that you took on the day of the Adlers vs. MSBY game. “Your lockscreen is still that old picture?”
The male looks at his phone fondly. “Yeah, I couldn’t let it go. Yours is still the one from our first date, right?”
You nod your head and turn on your own lockscreen. As he said, it’s a picture of when you went on your first date to a food festival in Hyogo. Wide smiles adorn your faces while an ungodly amount of street food hangs from your arms. It was a good memory.
You wish there was more time to talk with Osamu, but it seems like the world is still against you when a large group of teens walk into the restaurant to order food. Kimura sends a look towards his boss and Osamu nods his head in acknowledgement. You both stand up from your seats and turn to face each other.
“Looks like our time’s up,” Osamu comments. He takes your right hand and pulls it up to brush against his lips dramatically. “Do you think the pretty lady in front of me might want to go for some dinner together after I close up later tonight?”
“Osamu, we’ve been dating for 6 months.”
“Then, I’ll take that as a yes?”
“I’ve got a little tidbit for you.” You peck his lips with a chaste kiss. “It’s a yes.”
