"For you. For all of us."
I do believe "for you" was originally intended for both of them, or even all of them. But, (spoilers,) by the end of this, my delusions win.
Tumblr media
Although I'm a shameless lokius shipper who can and will talk about them even on a first date or a job interview, I do believe there was much more going on in this scene than just a showcasing of a tragic love story. And that's not saying that wouldn't be meaningful (these types of stories are the only reason I still read fjjffj stop that's actually very sad...)
For me the story is very similar to how Luca's story ended. Hear me out, please, I'm crazy but I might not even be that crazy by the end of this.
Loki's first season and Luca both came out in June of 2021 so I might just connect them subconsciously, but the way Enrico Casarosa (director of Luca) said the movie was open to all interpretations hasn't left my mind since then. That's a huge part of making art, leaving the interpretation up to the viewer and not giving clear instructions. This way you can actually showcase such layers and depth that are much more similar to real life emotions. Because the line is blurry, no matter what. No label is clear enough to say why you love the way you do and how you do it. It's complex and beautiful.
Loki and Mobius, their relationship is beautiful because it has this complexity. I think it's worth mentioning, that what I'm about to say is a subjective interpretation, because this is my idea of love.
They did develop that friendship that articles like to highlight and we love to clown.
Tumblr media
But seriously that platonic friendship is there and it doesn't cancel out the hints of romance at all. That's why I'm also okay with the sylki kiss. Although the first time watching it, for me it felt unnecessary, I can see the significance of it happening. It's an emotional moment, them failing to recognise what they want, their unawareness of the bigger picture, and the comedy of it all, him falling in love with himself. Also... we never really talk about why Sylvie accepts the kiss and her inner conflicts? I need to think a lot more about Sylvie and her wants... but that's not gonna happen in this post, because I'm already going on, anyways... Guess what, Mobius calls this out two times.
Tumblr media
"What a incredible seismic narcissist."
Tumblr media
"It’s a complicated relationship, okay? There’ s a lot unpack when you’re basically in a relationship with yourself. They say opposites attract. No." *does that face, taking a sip of his shake💅*
It's the same of him being the only one who mentions Loki's behaviour changing. (I'm not sure if he's the only one noticing, but he's the only one who makes the choice of calling it out.) And I also love the way he says no to Loki when he asks him to trust him. Loki stays calm, and just says "watch".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is so!!! Loki has been doing this for so long, he looks kind of numb to it – this might have happened many times before and he's done explaining or calming Mobius OR he's okay with Mobius's distrust because he on the other hand trusts himself enough that he doesn't have to feel threatened to lose their bond. He knows their bond is strong enough that he doesn't have to worry when Mobius's trust fades for a moment. And the episode proves me right when in the next moment Loki gets access.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Yes!" Mobius says, grabbing Loki's arm with both his hands, anxious and relieved for a small moment!!!
And that's real trust, friendship and relationship right there.
Comfort, sacrifice and honest moments like these make me feel loved the most. You can't entirely trust someone, you can't expect love to stay the same and you can't expect that the past to just fade away, you can't forgive easily and yet you keep hoping.
Tumblr media
"That's a lot of hoping." Sylvie says.
And Loki is the key and his beautiful, beautiful character arch.
Most of these points are connected to my own experiences of friendship and the working relationships I've seen. Just like in Luca, we make mistakes, sometimes things that are hard to forgive and this is kind of the essence of being human.
Now back to Luca and the way Mobius has to touch Loki like his life depends on it. There are touchy people (and it took me some time to realise I'm one of them.) Enrico says:
“We talked about it and I mean, I think the reason probably we didn’t talk about it as much and, to a certain degree, we’re slightly surprised by the amount of people talking about romance is that we were really focusing on friendship and so pre-romance. But it is a kind of love, right? There’s a lot of hugging and it’s physical and my experience as a straight man certainly wasn’t that. The things we did talk a lot about is what is the metaphor here for being a sea monster, for being different? And some people seem to get mad that I’m not saying yes or no, but I feel like, well, this is a movie about being open to any difference.” (source)
Yes, I do recognise the worries about queerbaiting, and yes, I can only wish that wasn't the issue at Disney. But imagine for a moment, a world where this isn't the case and we didn't have to fight with tooth and nail for representation. In that case this story works perfectly as a friendship and yet it doesn't cancel out the chance of it snowballing into romance.
And then there's the last scene. This post sums it up. What I need to add to this is that most story elements are finished. Loki's Glorious Purpose ending is tragic, angsty and hurtful but it's done, finished. His friendship with both Mobius and Sylvie, tragic angsty and hurtful, still finished. What remains and what drives the audience crazy, and in need for explanation is Mobius being shown in between his lives.
I've seen a lot of people make posts about this alredy. How the show kept telling us that Mobius doesn't want to see his life on the timeline, how Loki knows and brings this up to Sylvie, but it's never further explained, really. Other than the natural conclusion that you just might not want to give up your known reality for something new. The show introduces characters who would, so it's not that everyone would hesitate.
Mobius let go of Ravonna, although it hurt him. Mobius did not remember OB, Mobius got scolded by Sylvie. Hunter B-15 (or Verity, my girl♥︎ i love you so much...) and Casey might be his good friends but we don't really see that apart from that goodbye scene. (Which by the way, hurt like hell...) The only reason left is that Mobius cannot live without Loki properly and the last damn scene proves. this. to. be. the. case!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Let time pass."
I... I love movies man...
(end notes:
– I almost started writing a new paragraph about how this parallels to Spiderverse but let's just forget about that, because that's a box I don't want to open right now, because I will feel ✨dumb✨
– In the Hungarian dubbing he says "For you, Sylvie" and that perfectly sums up this shithole of a country... They did not put Sylvie into the subs though, a win is a win i guess...)

Tarot Project - N°34
That man is far too precious to comprehend. I was certainly not expecting to get a new fav out of that season, that's for sure. And so, he had to go on the tarot project.
Have O.B, just a little guy, as the Page of Cups!
Tumblr media
(feat Miss Minutes, who may or may not try to kill them all again 🤷🏻‍♂️)
Explanation under the cut, for the braves who can bare it!
The Page of Cups is a card all about creativity and intuition- as the Pages often are. The unexpected appearance of the fish, popping out of the cup he holds, signifies that creative inspiration often comes out of the blue and only when you are open to it. What, a Loki person appearing out of nowhere and complaining about time slipping? Wow! You guess time slipping is possible at the TVA. You just have to be ready to accept it.
Therefore, obviously, the fish became a Loki.
Tumblr media
(I mean. They can be an alligator. Why not a fish. They became a fish in the myths, after all. Careful with this one: it might stab you. With fish bones.)
Upright, the card suggests a new idea or opportunity has come to you out of the blue. New people, in your workshop! How long has it been? Even more, how long since the last time you left the damn place? Sure, you now have the great opportunity to try and fix an overloading loom, but also to ~make new friends~. How lucky! Your creative energy is flowing, and now the question is how you will express it. Will you snap up this new idea and turn it into something, or will you let someone else bring it to fruition? It is up to you!
The Page of Cups invites you to have an open and curious mind. Be open to anything – including a fish popping its head out of a cup (or a random guy sort of appearing in front of you to tell you that you're not just a failed writer named Doug, but a agent of a time police of some sort named O.B. Sure, makes perfect sens! There is no flaws in that logic). It is with a curious mind that you will discover new aspects of life and yourself. Be ready to dream the impossible dream, and explore the magic of your fullest potential, even if it seems out of reach, because yes, it was a science-fiction problem. The Page of Cups is asking you to embrace your inner child and believe that anything is possible. You can fix anything!!
Tumblr media
(but perhaps you should not fix murderous, rogue A.I clock, O.B. Come on. See, she's already looking at you weirdly.)
Reversed, the card may indicate that you tend to work alone. Perhaps you want it that way, feeling better where you can keep your ideas to yourself without having to justify them to other's judgemental stares; perhaps you just go with the flow and assume that's what you're meant to be. Don't let yourself be forgotten in an old basement for centuries: go out, try to reach out, to find other people who are safe to share your ideas with! Don't wait for a random analyst to take the wrong turn and show up for like, five seconds, every four centuries.
With the Page of Cups reversed, you may feel called to pursue a new creative project (hey, by the way, the temporal Loom is going Boom! You will fix it, right?), but you doubt whether you can really make it work. Your inner critic may be on over-drive, and you can feel ashamed to share your work with others. You shouldn't. That lovely Loom Model was perfect and Victor would never have judge you for that. And that little guy in the suit did look like a Mobius, or a Loki, depending on the perspective. Listen your intuition, and your creative mind: if the problem can be solve, then, you will.
If not, just ask your little glowing green fish to become a tree.
Tumblr media
And that's it for today! I really hope we'll see more of O.B in the MCU, later on. I would watch anything with that man in it, even the worst movies. In fact, let's put Ke Huy Quan in like- everything. That man is a sunshine and a very talented actor, fr.

i have to rant about this or i might cease to exist.
lokius...
for one, i love queer ships (canon or not) but i also like to stay true to the show i’m watching, and i personally don’t have a big problem with sylki (just a little underwhelmed with it if i’m being honest). but the more i look at loki and mobius’ relationship, the clues and that damn song, the more it feels actually plausible that this could turn into something real.
i’m going to somewhat rank these from 1 downward, 1 being its probably coincidental, down to this is too spot on to be nothing. all while i sip leisurely at my tea.
1. “i’ve studied almost every moment of your life..”
it kind of speaks for itself. its a pretty simple bit of dialogue, and most likely doesn’t mean all that much, but what is mobius’ fascination with loki variants? this is higher on the list mainly because mobius has been assigned this case, he's a detective and its his job to dig deep, he's consumed by his work, therefore it isn't strange for him to know so much about loki's life on the sacred timeline.
2. the tie adjustment scene
trust me, i'd love to put this lower on the list, but theres one thing that makes me believe this is-- albeit disappointingly-- a coincidence. it was improv. maybe that, for some people, is more of an indicator of canon lokius, that tom hiddleston felt that that scene was being led in such a flirtatious direction, however, this scene was more his following along owen's playful presence on set, which just makes it kind of sweet. but this is one of my favourites scenes, regardless of the intention behind it. loki will always be a flirt, after all.
3. loki's bisexuality
as much as i would have loved to see more on loki's sexuality-- perhaps slightly more explicitly given his status as the god of mischief-- i'm not going to hate on sylvie and loki, because that would simply erase the existence of bisexuality, hetero-presenting relationships exist and to deny so would again, erase the meaning of bisexuality. however, the ending of season 1 does raise some questions. loki and sylvie's separation sets up the future of marvel, it needed to happen, so this might not mean much at all and we now know that season 2 will focus on loki searching for sylvie through timelines. but how purely queer would it be for loki to realise some stronger feelings toward one agent mobius, and perhaps loki and sylvie's relationship was something that was meant to stay platonic, who knows? this is considerably more fanon than my other theories, but i had to include it, given that to me, its a reasonable arguement. lgbtq+ characters need to be introduced and this was kate herron's goal from the beginning. she also said that she hoped marvel went further with this new information and explored more thoroughly. forgive me for this more outlandish inclusion, but it has been on mind for awhile now.
4. the presence of the dagger / "love is a dagger..."
we all know this one, we've all screamed over it and we all hope it means something more than just a coincidence. with marvel's history of in-depth attention to detail (comic references, foreshadowing years prior to a movie's release), it feels a little too purposeful, doesn't it? again, i'm trying to keep rank these into something somewhat believable with viable evidence, so something i will mention is that loki has lacked any close friendships his whole life. gaining a relationship like this would hold deep value to him, and parting ways would likely pull forth some deep bittersweet emotions. platonic love is arguably more important than romantic, the need to be understood without judgement and that is what both mobius and loki have given each other. the tears in loki's eyes during this scene is a clear indicator of their care for each other, but whether that goes deeper is unclear.
Tumblr media
my thoughts fluctuate on this one. for one, its simply so beautiful and meaningful to loki's development (and mobius') that whether its meant platonic or with an underlying romance, feels like it hardly matters, because it holds as much meaning either way. "love is a dagger", it appears in so many forms throughout the series: mobius giving loki his daggers, only for them to be taken away by B-15 a second later, this hug scene and loki and sylvie's fight in the citadel. its so prominent in this scene, its hard to dismiss, yet marvel fluctuates so much with their details that its hard to tell if this was intended the way i'm seeing. regardless, its beautiful and definitely a worthy inclusion.
5. the lokius song / mobius' apparent jealousy
lets get one thing straight, natalie holt is an amazing composer and i will back that to no end with my spotify wrapped this year, trust me on this. so when i first started listening through the second album, like a true neurodivergent kid, i was memorising every song name and i have to say, i lost it a little when i saw the name of this song. natalie confirmed that sif and loki had a 'thing' during the point that the time loop scene was set, so one cannot dismiss the possibility that she could know a little more about the prior scenes than we realise. i was skeptical when i first saw people's impressions of these scenes, after all, they had all reunited after loki technically betrayed mobius, so it was understandable that mobius wouldn't exactly be pleased with the circumstances that they're meeting again. but something about the way he looks at loki and sylvie when he's leading them down the hall, he just looks kind of heartbroken and disappointed. again, this could have been the result of loki's betrayal, if the way he calls him a bad friend is anything to go by, but the substance of this scene holds so much in it. and his little rant about loki and sylvie's "twisted romantic relationship" breaking his reality, hits a little hard. maybe this wouldn't have meant much if it hadn't been with that bloody song, because tell how just an angry, hurt mobius = lokius? it can be jealousy regardless of romantic feelings, friendships feel it too, but this feel a little more substantial.
worthy inclusions:
sylvie's "he cares about you" comment in the void, and loki's near dismissal of it.
loki falling asleep in the archives, he trusts mobius.
am i the only one that finds it cute how loki hangs out at mobius' desk while mobius is off doing other work?
conclusion:
look, i'm going to be honest here, i grow sceptical of my own arguments at times. these are very minor things, and i didn't even realise they were pushing loki and sylvie in the direction they were until they kiss (in other words, i'm a little oblivious), so i want you all to take this with a grain of salt. i like to stay true to the actual characters and their makers, i don't have unrealistic expectations and i am no director, actor or screenwriter. i am not saying how i think the next season should go, i just wish it could go to in this direction to some degree. i have my doubts, but my hopes too. regardless, i'm just happy to see these characters at all!
this is what so many seem to forget. there may be restrictions (cough cough disney), but everyone working on these shows and movies have put their hearts into it and i want to appreciate that for what it is! this doesn't mean you aren't entitled to your own opinion, of course you are! but just remember the show/characters you've fallen in love with and if you didn't have them at all. i'm overjoyed to see loki with a close friendship after so many years of watching him being proverbially kicked while he was down. ultimately, loki and mobius' friendship (and possible romance) is what technically saved loki and that's something beautiful in and of itself.
I don't think its impossible! but i keep an open mind for both directions their stories could take.

Ideas I have for Rouge and Amy if they’re in the next movie because I’m so normal about this (and I really wanted to share them with @welcome-to-green-hills )
Rouge:
- word traveled fast through the galaxy back to Mobius that the master emerald and chaos emeralds were found on earth, and that’s the opportunity of a lifetime for a world renowned treasure hunter like Rouge 👀
- This gives her a reason to go to earth in the first place and have it narratively make since
- she and team dark (Shadow, Stone, Robotnik) coincidentally find a chaos emerald at the same time
- A fight scene ensues before Robotnik convinces her to join them. She helps him find the chaos emeralds, and she can have the master emerald when it’s all said and done
- Unlike Knuckles, Rouge doesn’t have quite the same moral compass. She definitely has some standards, but for the most part she’s willing to do what it takes to get what she wants. She also isn’t as easy to manipulate, and figures that Robotnik will most likely back stab her at some point
- She sees that shadow is different though. She’s the first person to really get close to him, and she realizes that he’s angry and set on revenge, but he shares some of her own moral standards (ex: in sa2 shadow saves rouge when she’s trapped on an island that’s about to explode when he could have left her behind)
- She’s the closest thing to a friend Shadow has at the time
- When the countdown to the Ark colliding with earth starts, she’s the first one on team dark to get on board with an alliance
- She’s also the most upset about Shadows sacrifice (besides Sonic) and shares the guilt that she couldn’t help him
- Afterwards, she becomes an agent set on dismantling GUN once and for all
- She still operates by her own rules, but the Sonic gang still sees her as a valuable ally (and even potentially a friend)
- Bonus points if she flirts with knuckles and it goes right over his head
Amy:
- Rouge wasn’t the only one that heard about the master emerald being found
- I think that it would be cool if there was a linage of hedgehogs that could control the power of the chaos emeralds without being corrupted or having to use the master emerald
- This is important to Amy, as she sees it as part of her own heritage. She’s learned the legends of how their power works, the history behind the war of the echidnas and owls, etc.
- To connect to her character in the games, I think that fortune reading could also be an important aspect of her heritage
- She isn’t sure at first if she should go to earth to seek out the emeralds, until one day she receives a fortune that someone related to the emeralds would need her help
- She goes to earth looking for whoever might be connected to the emeralds, and she doesn’t have to look long. By the time she gets to earth every news station is reporting on how an “alien hedgehog” had been arrested and is in government custody, and she’s like “that’s probably the guy that needs help”
- She breaks into the prison at the same time Tails and Knuckles are breaking in (Que the Spider-Man pointing meme)
- She just has to simplify it down to “long story, but I’m here to help” because she still doesn’t exactly know what she’s supposed to help with
- Breaks down the prison walls with her hammer, earning instant credit with Knuckles
- Sonic makes a comment along the lines of “what is it with random people showing up saying they’re here to help me???”
- She fits the team dynamic perfectly and banters with them naturally
- Bonus points if there’s awkward flirting and pining between her and Sonic
- She becomes the main source of information on the emeralds, as most of Mobius though the legends were just myths
- She’s the first on team Sonic to realize that there’s more to Shadow than they initially believed
- Sonic definitely sympathized with him, but Amy is the first to discover the extent of what happened. I’m thinking she discovers a security tape on the Ark raid and is able to hear what Shadow promised to Maria
- She realizes that Shadow had forgotten the promise because all he could remember was the moment Maria died in front of him and nothing leading up to it (cries)
- After she reunites with Sonic (post being shot via space capsule) he realizes that he can’t stop the Ark on his own and would need Shadow to help, as he’s the only other person who can use the emeralds power, but he confides in her that he doesn’t know if he can convince him
- This is Amy’s moment to shine. She tells him the way she sees how he never gives up, that she admires that he can always see the best in people and bring them together, including how he helped bring herself, Tails, and Knuckles together, and that if Shadow would rally behind anyone, it was him
- That’s when she realizes that her fortune wasn’t just about helping Sonic, it was about helping Shadow
- She races off to find Shadow and tells Sonic to “just find the emeralds and meet up” with them
- She finally confronts Shadow in her big speech, not just about giving humanity a chance, but encouraging him to remember what he said to Maria
- “I know it must hurt to think of her. It must be awful to remember what happened, and it’s tearing you apart. But remembering our lives with the ones we’ve lost is how we honor them. Please, try to remember what happened before the end”
- That’s when his repressed memories finally return, after he finally lets himself think of her. Their life together, them dancing in the hallways, them laughing together, them drawing together, them looking out over the earth together.
- And the scene we’ve all been waiting for. He’s trapped in the space capsule, unable to get out. Maria tells him how much she wishes she could go with him, but she couldn’t survive on earth. She makes him promise that he’ll give humanity a chance, to explore earth and protect it, and most importantly, to give the people of earth the same hope he’d given her (*crying*) and of course, that he’s her brother and she loves him (😭😭😭)
- Then, the inevitable. Before she can pull the leaver, a soldier walks in and commands her to step away. She uses every ounce of courage to defy him and pull the leaver, only for the sound of a shot to ring out as the camera cuts to shadow, witnessing the moment it happened before he’s shot into space
- Amy was right, it hurts to finally confront those memories, but it finally gives him the clarity he needs. He thanks her before rushing to meet Sonic and make good on his promise
- She’s also absolutely distraught when Shadow doesn’t make it back to the Ark
- Afterwards, I think she would decide to become a permanent member of team Sonic, inspired both by Sonic and Shadows act of heroism
- It would be neat if Rachel took a liking to her and decided to take her in. I know a lot of people imagine if Shadow survived she would take him in, but I think it’s more likely he would choose to be alone for a while, and I think Rachel would have a soft spot for Amy as she reminds her of JoJo.
- JoJo is of course excited that her mom has accepted these quirky little aliens as part of her family, and even more excited when they decide to move to Green Hills to be closer to them :)
- Amy is just as excited to be an older sister figure and to have a part in their family
Sorry this was so long, once I started writing the ideas just kept coming and I couldn’t stop typing

not people on Reddit being wrong about Loki again
“I'm pointing out exactly what happened on the screen and what was explicitly stated by reliable narrators” please tell us who you consider to be reliable narrators. please. because you’re obviously considering Mobius as one of those reliable narrators and that’s hilarious for like 50 reasons so who else is on that list? anyone else from the TVA, who has a huge agenda? Odin, who lied to Loki from birth about his origin and literal species, and oh by the way lied to everybody about the entire existence of another child and also his own entire personality and warmongering ways for the first, I don’t know, two-thirds of his own life? Thor, who was also lied to about everything Loki was lied to but somehow remained a lot less suspicious about all of it and kept coming back to “wow gosh Odin ur so wise” even when repeatedly confronted with evidence of Odin actually being kind of awful? Thor’s friends, who also believed all of Odin’s lies but were pretty clearly Thor’s friends anyway and not Loki’s, and therefore biased? Frigga, who was complicit in all the lying? ...I don’t know, fucking Thanos, who’s literally the least reliable narrator I can imagine?
“I love the character, but” I dunno, do you though, you’re making an awful lot of assumptions about what he does and doesn’t know, and what he is and isn’t capable of doing, and we don’t actually know...any of that
like I’m not denying that Loki made a lot of bad decisions, particularly in the first Thor movie, but a) he was having a mental breakdown at the time and b) oh my fucking god do not call that interrogation scene a “tough love version of therapy,” fucking do not, it was interrogation and quite frankly psychological torture, Mobius just wanted information, there was no reason for him to care about Loki at that point, come on, all he wanted to do was break Loki down enough to make him useful, how are you not seeing this. how can you possibly accuse other people of, I don’t know, going too easy on Loki and then falling for this therapist interpretation of Mobius?? he’s a cop!! yes he came to care about Loki but in episode 1 he just saw Loki as a potential asset for catching the rogue Loki variant! please be reasonable and watch the interrogation scene with that perspective!

Loki Season 2 Episode 3 “1893” Thoughts and Theories
          Once Again if you have not seen this episode then please look away. I’m kind of tired today, so I hope these all makes sense.
          I honestly really loved this episode of Loki. I’m glad we finally got to see Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes again. I was kind of worried that they were only going to show up towards the end of this season, so I’m happy they finally showed up. I really liked their dynamic together and I cannot wait to see what havoc they will cause in the future because it seems that towards the end of the episode, they’re setting them up to exact revenge to the TVA and He Who Remains. Also, Miss Minutes knows He Who Remains’ secrets; specifically, the one about Renslayer that I will talk about in the Theories section of this post. I also really liked how Miss Minutes has a thing for Victor Timely/ He Who Remains; almost like an obsession with him. It did freak me the fuck out when she put her face in the mannequin.
          I really liked Loki and Mobius’ scenes in the World’s Fair. Mobius was just kind of intent on exploring the fair and Loki seems to be the one that is more focused on the mission. I also like the scene of Loki looking at the Thor statue and saying to himself “Thor’s not that tall”, which just made me want to see Thor and Loki interact again in the future. I really would like to see this version of Loki interact with Thor because I feel like this Loki is way more different than the original Loki. This Loki is a version of Loki that knows that there is something bigger than him out there and knows that there is something out there that he can’t conquer or subjugate. Sure, we can say that the original Loki towards the end of his life was like this already, but I feel like this version we are seeing now knows for a fact that he’s just a small being in this massive multiverse because he’s actually seen it.
          I really liked Victor Timely in this episode. It’s kind of weird seeing Jonathan Majors in here though because of the recent stuff about him. I feel like at the beginning of the year I had this great impression of him because of movies such as: Creed 3 and Quantumania; but now, I have a very mixed feelings on the man. Anyways, I’m not going to try to talk about that awfulness too much. When we first saw the scene of Victor Timely at the post credits of Quantumania, I did not expect it to be like this. My expectation was that he was going to be this very respected inventor, almost like Howard Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger, but he’s not like that at all. He’s more of a snake oil salesman that sells his non-working inventions to the highest bidder. My favorite being the mechanical trousers one, where a man confronts him about the mechanical trousers not making working and you can visibly see Victor make himself smaller to trick the man that it did work.
I like that this episode sets Victor/ He Who Remains up to be a fraud because for all we know he might be. We don’t truly know why he created the TVA; we’re just kind of going with what he said from the finale of last season. For all we know, it’s just a way to rule over the multiverse. Although, we do see some of his inventions working, so that might suggest that he truly is trying to create order and balance in this multiverse and prevent the multiversal war. I do believe that he knows how to create these grand inventions, but he doesn’t have the technology to pull it off. For example, we see Renslayer use a pruning device that Victor created.
          A quick thing about Sylvie. I really liked her in this episode. She’s almost acting like the TVA with Victor Timely. She even says that she needs to kill him because she knows exactly what he’s going to do and become in the future. She’s not going to give him a chance to change or make those decisions for himself because she already knows what the future holds or at least she THINKS she knows it. It’s kind of like what the TVA did to Sylvie. They tried to prune her because she would create a timeline that the TVA did not want. A timeline that was not in accordance with the sacred timeline.
THEORIES
          I think that the secret Miss Minutes was talking to Renslayer about was either: how He Who Remains took her out of the Scared Timeline, which everyone in the TVA already knows happened to them; how she actually was one of the leaders of the TVA with He Who Remains before everyone’s minds were wiped; how Miss Minutes’ AI is based on her; or how she might be a variant of Kang. Those are my four ideas on what the big secret is right now. I feel like it would be a massive reveal if she was a variant of Kang that was just mindwiped by He Who Remains. It’s like He Who Remains has just kept this version of Kang as his trophy and that would definitely anger Renslayer. I also think that Miss Minutes might be based on Renslayer’s personality, but I don’t really have a hint to that yet. The only reason I think that is because she seems to be the only person He Who Remains was close with in the past TVA in episode 1 of this season.
EDIT: I just rewatched the episode and Miss Minutes said that she was made before Renslayer, so she couldn't be based off of her. Also, I think the secret might be what we heard on the first episode of the season, which I totally forgot about. The thing we heard was that He Who Remains had promised Renslayer that they will run the TVA together and be partners.
          I also think that all of the events we’re seeing now is still part of the plan. Like He Who Remains will always be there at the end of time and that all of this, that we are seeing now, is still in accordance with the plan he set in motion when he died. He’s already lived the next episodes and movies in the MCU, we’re just catching up with him. The only reason why I think this is when we meet Victor Timely and he’s being chased by the people he’s conned, we see him always have an escape plan. It might not be the best plan, but it always goes his way. He’s like this being that everybody underestimates and when you think you’ve caught him, he’s escaped.
          Thank you for reading this whole thing. My mind is kind of foggy today, so I really hope all of these made sense. Have a good day.

If there are still slots open for the Christmas prompts, may I ask for 6. “Is that present for me?” with Lokius? (or 3. “Your lips are cold.” as a backup number). Thank you and I hope you'll reach the 1 000 000 words (also, just saying, that's very impressive!!).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Ok, so I might have cheated a liiiiiiittle by combining two prompts into one, which was inspired by the fact that @okilokiwithpurpose had prompt #3 as a backup. But hopefully the fact that this fic is 4x as long as most of the others in this challenge makes up for it! I had written a tiny bit of this AU, but never shared, and somehow as I was looking at it again these prompts just slotted into place. So here you go, an actor AU, which I can't believe no one had written for these two before, with some fake dating thrown in for fun. I hope you all enjoy! Also: @an-asgardian I wasn't sure if your AO3 name was different, but let me know and I can gift it to you there if you like!)

Toronto International Film Festival, early September
“You cannot tell me you’re intending to wear that,” Loki blurts, in lieu of a greeting, the moment he opens the door and sees Mobius standing on the other side of it.
Mobius glances down at his outfit: a grey suit that, yes, he has worn to more than a few previous events. Not that anyone would notice. No one ever asks who Mobius is wearing, he’s never appeared on any fashion lists (best or worst), and that’s the way he likes it. He knows he’ll be comfortable, and he doesn’t have to worry about hurridly-sewn seams failing or a jacket being mistakenly cut too tight across his shoulders. He hasn’t so much cultivated his look as actively not cared about it, and he’s gotten to a point in his career where people were inclined to let him do as he wished.
Until now, it seems. Loki is still staring at him in something akin to horror, which is a bit much. It elicits a knee-jerk reaction to get defensive and dig in his heels, but Mobius shoves it down and forces a tight smile onto his face. This is to be their first official public appearance, and it wouldn’t do to start things off on the wrong foot.
“You have a better idea?” he challenges, raising his eyebrows.
“Go back in time and get a suit that’s properly tailored,” Loki opines, before he sighs, gesturing Mobius into the hotel room. “You can’t wear that shirt.”
“What’s wrong with it?”
Loki gives him a withering look of disdain that is definitely pushing it. “It’s boring, Mobius. Take it off, I have one that will work.”
Mobius sighs out heavily through his nose, trying not to grind his teeth together, and reminds himself that he agreed to this. God knows why. Your career is stagnating. No one’s talking about you, Ravonna had said. You need to shake it up, and this is the perfect opportunity. Then his agent had delivered the final blow: If you want that movie green-lit, you’ll do it.
Fucking Hollywood. Odin Borson had one of the biggest production companies on the block and a troublesome, wild-child son who needed an image rehabilitation. Who better to play the moderating influence than someone who’s never been a front page headline in the tabloids in his life? The TV actor who’d been beloved in the same role he’d played for over a decade, but boring in every other respect? Even when he’d come out several years ago, the news had barely made a ripple. He’s been trying to get this movie made for years, though, so a few months of pretending to date the producer’s kid had seemed like a small price to pay.
He’s not so sure about that anymore, though.
He follows Loki through the palatial suite to an entire walk-in closet of clothes—how on Earth could he have so many, they’re only here for a few days—and waits as the other man roots around a collection of shirts. Loki pulls several out and frowns at them before tossing them away, heedless of where they land. Sequins, ruffles, lace, one that seems to be hot pink— Christ, Mobius needs a drink.
“I really doubt any of your stuff is going to fit me,” he tries in a last-ditch effort.
“It’ll be close enough,” Loki says, waving him off dismissively. “Keep your jacket buttoned on the red carpet and no one will notice.”
Mobius sighs, again. He has a distinct feeling that his life will be easier if he just lets Loki do what he wants. Within reason. “I’m gonna have a drink. You want anything?”
Loki’s mouth tightens almost imperceptibly. “Not allowed to drink before these things anymore,” he says stiffly, still focusing on the shirts in front of him.
“Oh. Noted.”
Possibly they should have actually talked more before this, but Mobius had counted on film festival red carpets being relatively low pressure when it comes to interviews. Loki has a small part in one of the movies from Odin’s production company, hence the appearance, but he’s not a lead, so no one expects the press to want to talk to them that much. They’ve been provided a few essentially scripted lines about their relationship to use when someone inevitably asks: they met on a ski slope in Vail, hit it off over coffee, etc, etc. Never mind that Mobius has never been to Vail. He doesn’t even ski, unless you count a jet ski.
Mobius briefly wonders if he should also abstain out of courtesy, but he figures Loki would say something if it was going to be a problem. Hopefully it won’t, because there’s no way Mobius is gonna get through tonight without at least one Scotch. He’s pouring a healthy portion into a crystal tumbler from the room’s wet bar when Loki appears at his side again.
“Here. This one,” he says, thrusting the garment into Mobius’s hands. It’s a rich, cerulean blue, and when Mobius holds it out he sees it seems to be a mock turtleneck and also…
“Is this… sparkly?”
“It’s a subtle shimmer,” Loki corrects superciliously. He hesitates for a second and looks away, avoiding Mobius’s gaze, and when he continues his voice is oddly tight. “It will bring out the blue of your eyes.”
Mobius swallows. Loki’s not actually dressed yet, still wearing a bathrobe, the fronts of which have by now slipped open down to where it’s belted at his waist, revealing a tantalizing swath of smooth, sculpted chest and abs that Mobius has to force himself not to stare at. Look, he’s not a monk, and Loki is a very attractive man. That fact may or may not have swayed his decision to go along with this circus. Still, this is all fake. Loki is way out of his league, and he’d do well to remember that.
Of course, he hadn’t banked on having to deal with Loki’s chest all night. It turns out he’s not wearing a shirt at all, only the trousers and jacket of a deep green tux with tails so long and elaborate they’re reminiscent of a skirt. He looks, to put it simply, stunning, and Mobius can’t help but feel a bit dull beside him. Even in a shimmery turtleneck, which, ok, did look better under his suit than what he was planning on wearing.
The appearance goes off without a hitch. They walk the red carpet, talk to a few reporters, smile like they’re enjoying themselves. Loki sleeps through the screening of his own movie, but Mobius is enthralled. He’d never really seen much of what Loki had been in before—mostly a number of prosaic runs as villains in genre flicks and their sequels—but in this he’s utterly arresting. He steals every scene he’s in, few though they might be. It makes Mobius wonder what happened, how he got so off track in his career, because clearly he deserves a lot more.
Halfway through the movie, Loki’s head tips onto his shoulder, and he doesn’t have the heart to move him. Loki jerks awake at the audience’s applause when the credits roll, going red as he realizes that he’d been using Mobius as a pillow. His eyeliner is slightly smudged and his hair is mussed, and the whole picture is far too soft and endearing. Even though they’re surrounded by a couple hundred other people it feels remarkably intimate, and something twists in Mobius’s gut.
This might be harder than he previously expected.

Hollywood, California, late September
“Is that a present for me?” Loki says, a teasing note in his voice and a grin on his face as he slips into the seat opposite Mobius.
They’re sitting outside at a cafe in Hollywood, in full view of the paparazzi that lurk unsubtly across the street. Odin’s people called them, of course. Another of their scheduled appearances, this time a casual lunch. Mobius tries to smile like he doesn’t care that his every move is being documented. He’s never elicited this kind of attention during his entire career, and he’s not at all disappointed about that.
“The very one provided by your manager,” Mobius answers dryly. It had been delivered to his apartment with a note explaining that he was supposed to give it to Loki at the arranged time. “I take it you purchased this for yourself?”
“Mm,” Loki hums as he eagerly tears the top off the box and pulls a luxurious green silk scarf out of it, winding it around his neck. “I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about, darling. This a thoughtful gift from my dear beau.”
Mobius feels his face go hot at the fake pet names and blames the sun. “How can you wear that right now? It’s scorching out here today.”
“I’m always cold,” Loki tells him. “So. Honey. Dearest. Beloved,” he says, grinning over the menu at Mobius’s huff as he gets more flustered by the second. Turns out bearing the full brunt of Loki’s charm is a lot. “What looks good?”
Once they get settled in things get easier, though. They actually talk, really talk, for the first time since this whole thing started, and Mobius finds out that Loki’s not only insanely good looking but also sharp and engaging, talking excitedly about this or that project, going off on long tangents about random topics that interest him. It’s so unlike the haughty, stand-offish demeanor that he’s known for that Mobius is thrown off for a second, but he ends up enjoying himself too much to think about it too hard.
“The worst place I’ve ever had to film was definitely actual Siberia,” Loki is saying. They’re now undergoing the actor’s rite of passage in getting to know one another: sharing filming horror stories.
“Oh, that was The Void, right? The post-apocalyptic one,” Mobius says without thinking.
Loki blinks at him. “I thought you hadn’t seen any of my films.”
Mobius’s chewing slows to a halt as he realizes what he’s just admitted. “I mean. I’d seen a couple.” And if, since TIFF, he’d watched all of them, that was his business and nobody else’s.
“No one’s voluntarily seen The Void, Mobius,” Loki teases, a slow grin spreading on his face. “It’s not even on any streaming services.”
That is true. Mobius had had to buy the damned thing, and even finding a copy had been trying. Which was actually a shame, because yes, the movie had been terrible—abysmal writing, with a hackneyed love story forced in at the end—but Loki’s performance was exceptional. He’d played several different versions of the same character, each twisted a little differently, and it had been a bit of revelation.
“Musta caught it when it came out,” Mobius mumbles as he shrugs, avoiding Loki’s too-mirthful gaze. “Anyway, it’s gotta be more fun than always filming on a soundstage. Fifteen years of it gets real old, let me tell you.”
“All those places you traveled to? Pompeii? Those couldn’t have all been sets,” Loki says, which surprises Mobius enough to pull his eyes off his plate again.
“Now who’s been watching old TV series?” Mobius shoots back. “You can’t expect me to believe you saw Murders in the Multiverse when it aired.”
Loki sniffs, trying his best to look as if he hadn’t just been caught out. “Those are all on Paramount Plus,” he says dismissively. “I just put them on in the background for research. Barely paid attention.”
“Right. Research,” Mobius huffs, amused. “Well, they were all sets. Even Pompeii.”
“That’s disappointing.”
“Tell me about it.”
“It couldn’t have been that bad, though,” Loki says, tipping his head slightly. “You stayed for a lot of seasons. Even through that miserable amnesia arc.”
Mobius snorts. “Never overestimate the pull of a steady paycheck. I still get decent residuals from that show. But after a while they didn’t want to pay me what I deserved, and I got bored playing a time cop. Wanted to do something new and different. Get out of my comfort zone.”
“Which is why you’re here,” Loki says, a flat, difficult-to-read expression on his face. If Mobius didn’t know better he’d almost say Loki looked upset, which doesn’t make any sense.
“Yeah, I guess so,” Mobius allows. He picks at his food as they fall into an awkward silence, until finally he decides to just say it. “It’s been nice getting to know you, though.”
Loki looks up at that, slightly surprised, before a careful smile spreads across his face. “Yes. It has.”

New York Film Festival, October
“This is inhumane,” Loki whines the moment they step out of the limo and onto the red carpet.
“You’re the one who insisted on wearing a backless outfit,” Mobius reminds him. “I warned you.”
Not far away from where they stand, the fans lining the barricades are bundled up against the frigid wind of the unseasonable cold snap that had hit New York a day before the festival. Even Mobius is uncomfortably cold, and he’s wearing a wool suit. A new bespoke Italian wool suit that Loki had insisted upon for the festival. He almost wore a scarf, too, before Loki objected. Even though it was a nice scarf. Mobius had thought the outfit was pretty sharp, actually.
Clearly, Loki has somewhat warped views on what is appropriate for the weather, because he’s wearing some kind of shiny something that Mobius doesn’t even know how to describe—like a pair of trousers with a backless waistcoat attached on top, and nothing else. Christ, this man is dead set on ruining him. Especially because he huddles close for warmth, and Mobius has really no choice but to wrap his arms around him as hundreds of camera flashes go off from the press corps area nearby.
They’ve never been this close. Mobius has pressed a hand to his lower back, and Loki has draped himself off Mobius’s elbow, casual signs of affection that are easy, but this is quite beyond that. His hands splay over Loki’s bare skin as Loki tucks himself against his chest, and suddenly their faces are bare inches apart.
“You should kiss me,” Loki murmurs.
Mobius’s brain experiences a full shutdown, and it takes several moments to reboot. “What?” he manages, his voice strangled.
“We haven’t kissed for the cameras yet.”
Mobius does not remind him that they have not kissed at all, because they’re not actually dating. They don’t have to kiss. Lots of celebrity couples keep those things more private. Certainly plenty of them have never locked lips on the red carpet. Of course, Mobius knows as well as Loki that there have been rumors—blind items, chatter in the tabloids—that their relationship is just for PR. Which is true, but that’s not what they want people to think. A kiss would help sell it. That’s all this is.
No more than a few seconds can have passed, but it feels like an eternity before he manages to give a small nod. Loki is taller than him, so he has to stretch up on his toes a little as Loki dips his head to meet him. It doesn’t need to be more than a chaste press, but Loki’s lips, slightly tacky from the gloss he’s wearing, move softly against his and linger with the barest tug on Mobius’s lower lip as they part. It very effectively punches all the air from his lungs and leaves him reeling, which is kind of suboptimal because they’re still standing on the red carpet. Then there’s the fact that Loki just stares at him after they part, his eyes slightly wide like he hadn’t really meant to do that.
“Your lips are cold,” Mobius blurts, somewhat nonsensically, because he has no idea what else to say.
It turns out to be the right thing, though, because Loki laughs softly. “Can’t imagine why,” he drawls. He pulls away slightly, and Mobius tries not to feel disappointed about that. “Can we go inside now?”
“Just a few more minutes, sweetheart.” The endearment slips out, and he can feel Loki staring at him, but he doesn’t look over.
Instead, he does his job. Slide to the side so Loki’s outfit is visible. Lace their fingers together when Loki grabs his hand. Smile for the cameras.
Ignore the massive, hard knot settling into his gut.

Paris, France, November
“Yeah, I got it,” Mobius says over the phone as he wrestles his suitcase through the narrow hallway. “I’ll read it soon. It does look interesting.”
“The director specifically inquired about your schedule,” Ravonna tells him. “This is a very good sign, Mobius. You’re on people’s minds.”
“I know,” he sighs, because he’s tacitly admitting that she was right.
Even if this movie isn’t what he’s after, the fact that people are actually interested in him for the first time in… well, he can’t remember—it’s definitely good. And a little surprising. It’s not that he didn’t think the plan would work, but— ok, he didn’t really think this plan would work. Apparently he was wrong about that.
The numbers on the door to the hotel suite that’s been booked for them are ornately wrought in gold leaf, and he blinks at them for a moment before fumbling with the key. To say he doesn’t stay in places like this would be vastly understating things. The concierge had looked almost offended when he said he could handle is own bags. He’s a simple guy, not built for a life like this. Ravonna is rambling in his ear as he finally manages to get the door open, but when he steps into the suite he interrupts her without a thought.
“Ravonna, I’m gonna have to call you back.”
It’s huge, of course, and outfitted in Rococo fashion, with a large sitting area, what looks to be an office-slash-library, another sitting room, a bathroom larger than his first apartment, and a bedroom with a massive four-poster bed. One bed. He’s still staring at it when Loki pops up from where he’d been reclining on one of the couches and walks over to him.
“Where’s the bellboy?” he asks, peeking around Mobius’s back as if one might be hiding there. “I was going to send for champagne.”
“It’s ten in the morning,” Mobius protests, only half paying attention.
“Mimosas, Mobius. Catch up.”
“Sorry, is that the only bed in here?”
Loki pauses in his route to the room’s telephone and looks back at him, confused. “Of course. Didn’t they tell you?”
“Tell me what?”
“One of those blind items about us was definitely leaked by a hotel staff member. The one about separate rooms? We can’t afford those kinds of rumors. Hence.” Loki waves his arm at the bed, then blithely continues on to the phone.
It makes sense of course, they would be sharing a room and a bed if they were really dating, but that doesn’t make it any easier for Mobius to deal with. “I guess there are a lot of couches,” he allows. None of them look like they’ll be great for his back, but it’s only a couple of days.
Loki frowns at him. “You can’t honestly be planning to sleep on a couch, Mobius,” he scoffs. “The bed is plenty big enough for the two of us. Plus, the cleaning staff might notice.”
“Yeah, of course,” Mobius says, biting down on an exasperated sigh. He’s jet lagged, and exhausted, and being reminded of how much of an act this whole thing is frays his last nerve. “It never ends,” he groans.
“I don’t understand why you’re so upset about this,” Loki counters. “It’s not that big of a big deal.”
“Heaven forbid we actually get some moments where we don’t have to be performing, even when we’re alone!”
Loki goes stiff, his mouth narrowing in to a hard line, and Mobius knows he’s made a mistake. “Well. I’m sorry that this is so difficult for you,” he says, his voice cold and calm in the very worst way.
“Now wait a second, it’s not about—” Mobius tries, but Loki cuts him off.
“Excuse me, I need to use the restroom,” he says, then turns swiftly on his heel and marches into it, slamming the door behind him.
Mobius winces. Christ, he mucked this one up good. They’d been getting along so well that it’d been easy to sell that they enjoyed each other’s company, but this certainly isn’t going to help things. This trip was supposed to be a ‘romantic Parisian getaway’ for the two of them. Now it seems like they’ll be testing the limits of their acting ability. Bitterly, he thinks that Loki’s clearly a good enough actor that he shouldn’t have any trouble.
The bathroom door stays firmly shut for a long time, so Mobius the only thing he really he can. He unpacks the clothes that will wrinkle and puts them out to be pressed, pokes around the library for any interesting books—which he discovers must be mostly treated for show, given that they clearly haven’t been opened in quite a long time, and anyway are all in French—he even orders a bottle of champagne sent up, along with some fresh squeezed orange juice for good measure. After a while, when Loki still hasn’t emerged, Mobius hesitantly approaches and knocks softly.
“Loki? You ok?”
At first it doesn’t seem like there will be an answer, but there’s a soft curse, then the door flings open and Loki stares at him blankly. He’s wearing a bathrobe, and his hair is wet.
“Were you showering?” Mobius asks without thinking. It’s not really any of his business.
“I was in the bath,” Loki answers, his voice even. His face his carefully arranged, neither upset nor relaxed, but still, Mobius can’t help but feel like they took three steps backwards. “Did you want the shower?”
“Actually, yeah, if it’s not too much trouble. Planes, you know,” Mobius tries, offering a tentative smile.
“Right, of course,” Loki says with excessive politeness. “It’s all yours.”
“I ordered that champagne you wanted, by the way,” Mobius offers. “Orange juice too. Dunno if there was any other fancy stuff you wanted.”
That seems to take Loki by surprise. “Oh. Thank you.”
“Look, I’m sorry about earlier,” Mobius says in a rush, wanting to get it out before Loki can interrupt him again. “I was just— well, tired from all the travel, and I reacted poorly. You’re right, the bed is huge. And for what it’s worth, this isn’t difficult for me. I mean, spending time with you. I enjoy it.”
Those words have the curious property of being simultaneously entirely too honest and a massive lie, because this has in truth become incredibly difficult for him. Difficult not to give himself away. Difficult to reconcile what they do in public with their actual relationship. Difficult to keep from falling further and further in love with Loki every moment they spend together.
Loki’s expression softens, stuck somewhere between disbelief and relief before one corner of his mouth finally tugs upward. “That’s— well, that’s nice of you to say.”
“It’s the truth, Loki. You’re a great person.”
“That’s not a common opinion, I’m afraid,” Loki says dryly, quirking an eyebrow at him.
“Well, they’re wrong,” Mobius insists. “They don’t really know you.”
“And you do?”
Mobius nods confidently. “I do now. And I know I’m lucky to be your… friend,” he finishes, just managing to avoid saying something absurd like boyfriend or partner. They’re friends now, that’s not a stretch to say.
For some reason Loki flinches at that, though, so subtly it’s almost invisible. Then he’s smiling quickly to cover it, falling into his usual teasing tone as he says, “You’re right, you are lucky, Mobius. Two days of basking in my glorious presence. How will you survive?” Barely, Mobius thinks, but he chuckles all the same. “Hey, you wanna go out after this? I’m famished, and we could see some sites?”
“Sure you want to?” Loki asks, his expression sobering a touch. “We could just order room service. I mean, if you want some time off from performing…”
Yup, Mobius is gonna regret saying that for a long time. He can’t explain that it’s easy for him to act like he’s Loki’s boyfriend. That he’s not actually pretending when he ends up giving him smitten looks from across a cafe table. (Mobius has seen the paparazzi photos in the tabloids. Photographic proof of how utterly gone he is, which is all fine because that’s what they want the world to see. People don’t realize that Mobius isn’t that good of an actor. Not this time, anyway.)
Instead, he says, too honest once again, “No, I want to. Do you come to Paris a lot?”
“Yes.”
“Then show me your favorite places, ok?”
“All right,” Loki says, slowly smiling again. A genuine smile this time, pleased, like no one’s ever asked him for something like that before. “It’s a date.”
It is a date, so much a date that Mobius has to remind himself frequently that it’s not real. They eat crêpes at a café, their legs tangling together under the table, then Loki drags him off to obscure museums and tiny yet stunning churches. They stroll through the Tuileries hand-in-hand as Loki eats gelato despite the cold, and Loki leans in to kiss the corner of his mouth as they sit by the Seine. (The thrill Mobius gets at that is severely tempered by the fact that he can see the paparazzi photographing them from across the river. It’s just a photo op. It’s always a photo op.)
It’s dark outside by the time Loki leads him to the catacombs, which Mobius is pretty sure are actually closed. Not that that makes much of a difference when you’re as famous and filthy rich as Loki. What it means, though, is that they have the place to themselves, which is actually pretty creepy considering they’re surrounded by row upon row of stacked human bones.
“Of course this would be one of your favorite places,” Mobius laughs.
Loki scoffs in obviously put-upon offense, pressing one elegant hand to his chest. “I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“How often do you come here?”
“Every time I’m in the city,” Loki admits, grinning at him.
He’d walked a bit ahead, but now he comes back to stand by Mobius’s side as he stares up at the vaulted ceiling near where they’d entered. Mobius is so distracted by their surroundings that he doesn’t notice Loki reaching out until a hand slips into his, linking their fingers together. His head snaps to the side in surprise, but Loki is looking resolutely away.
“There’s no one here, you know,” he ventures, because apparently he can’t let himself have nice things.
“I know,” Loki says. He flashes a quick smile Mobius’s way before turning back to their surroundings. His fingers loosen a bit, as if giving Mobius the chance to pull away, which is of course the last thing Mobius wants to do. He tightens his own grip, and thinks he sees Loki’s lips quirk into a smile before he starts tugging him down a corridor.
Loki talks animatedly as they walk, telling stories about the catacombs that may or may not be factual, but Mobius finds that he doesn’t really care. He spends more time looking at Loki, anyway, at the way that the warm light reflects off the walls and illuminates the cut of his cheekbones and the curve of his lips. Maybe parts of this aren’t real. Maybe Loki isn’t really his, not in the way he wants, but Mobius wasn’t lying when he said he was lucky to call him a friend, and he decides then that he’s going to enjoy the time he does get, no matter how much it hurts in the end.
~~~~~
Torino Film Festival, December
Mobius doesn’t walk the red carpet in Torino; his flight is due to get in late, and Loki is busy with a press event for his movie anyway. He’s due to meet Loki later for some exclusive party, but in the mean time he has work to do; his agent managed to score him a dinner meeting with a director he’s always admired but never dreamed he’d get to work with, and who’s got a new, hush-hush movie entering pre-production soon. He refuses to get his hopes up, but the meeting goes really well, even if it does take an unexpected turn near the end.
“I hear you’re involved with Loki Odinson now,” the director says conversationally.
“Yeah,” Mobius confirms, a little uncomfortably. He’s never sure what to say when people start asking about his personal life, and it’s even more awkward now. “Do you know him?”
“Oh, yes. He was supposed to be in one of my movies a couple of years ago.”
“What happened?”
The director gives him an inscrutable look. “The official reason was scheduling,” he says after a moment. “But we couldn’t insure him.”
Shit, Mobius should have known. A ‘couple of years ago’ was when Loki started sliding off the rails: partying endlessly, walking off sets, publicly picking fights with his golden-boy actor brother. Loki generally doesn’t talk about it, so he knows very little but what was in the press, which is probably half bullshit and anyway definitely not the whole story. He’s not sure what he’s supposed to say, how much he should know, but in the end he doesn’t really need to say anything.
“You seem good for him,” the director continues. “I always did think he just needed someone to really believe in him. I’m glad he found that.”
“Er, thanks,” Mobius manages, his throat abruptly tight. “I don’t think I have a lot to do with it, though.”
“Come now, Mobius. Don’t you know you’re in the film industry? Never sell yourself short,” he says, a smirk playing on his lips.
Mobius is still pondering his words while he’s waiting near the entrance to the party for Loki to arrive so they can go in together. He’s running late, of course, so Mobius ends up so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he doesn’t notice Loki’s approach until the other man is nearly in front of him. When he does, though, his mouth nearly drops open. Loki is wearing what amounts to little more than minuscule black hot pants with a sheer body suit over them, the gossamer fabric spotted with green crystals and black lace that resolves somewhat into snakes and foliage as he gets closer. Very few people could pull something like that off, but Loki is absolutely one of them.
Now Mobius understands the emerald green jacket and black silk shirt Loki had sent him to wear. They actually look like they belong together, complementary but not too matchy-matchy, though Loki still outshines him by several megawatts. Loki smirks at his no doubt stunned expression, reaching up to unbutton several the shirt almost halfway down his chest, then drags his hands down Mobius’s front and leans in close to his ear.
“It’s a party, Mobius,” he murmurs before Mobius can object. “Live a little.”
They’re extensively photographed standing in front of some kind of wall made of dense shrubbery before finally they can go inside. There, at least, there won’t be any press or paparazzi, though still plenty of eyes on them. It should be relatively low pressure, and it is at first; they chat with the other guests, and though Loki knows more people than him, he does run into someone he did a movie with years ago and who he has a nice time catching up with. But then, as the night gets later, Loki insists on dragging him onto the dance floor. Mobius doesn’t dance. It’s just not in his makeup, but there’s no saying no to Loki. That’s what he tells himself, instead of admitting that he’s a complete pushover where this man is concerned.
Mobius does his best to try to move to the beat, which makes Loki laugh at him and grab his hips in an attempt to get him to swing them, or something. It’s definitely not going to work. What’s worse, though, is when Loki gives up and just starts grinding against him. Christ, Mobius doesn’t know where to put his hands, and he knows this isn’t supposed to be a big deal but it’s a lot to have Loki pressed against him like this, and if he keeps it up things are going to get really uncomfortable really fast—
“Need some air,” Mobius gasps, wrenching himself away and stumbling off the dance floor.
He has no idea where he’s going, but he finds an exit into some kind of enclosed courtyard. There are a few people scattered around, mostly smoking, but they pay him no attention as he hurries past them and finds a relatively secluded alcove behind a bush to collapse into. It’s quiet outside and no one disturbs him, which is why he jumps a mile when a hand lands on his shoulder a short time later.
“Mobius?” Loki asks, staring at him in concern. “Are you ok?”
“Oh yeah, fine and dandy,” he lies with an admittedly weak smile. “Just got a little tight in there, is all.”
“We can leave, if you want.”
“Only if you’re ready. I don’t want to cut your night short.”
Loki sighs, and leans against the wall next to him. “These things are never quite as fun when you’re sober.” He shivers almost violently in the winter chill, crossing his arms over his front, which does precisely nothing when you’re wearing as little as he is.
Mobius doesn’t really think, just says, “c’mere,” and pulls him into his arms, wrapping him up against the cold, and Loki tucks himself against him. It’s like New York all over again, except there aren’t a hundred cameras and screaming fans around them. Just them. Just Loki’s face, so close to his. Without planning to, he reaches up and presses a thumb to the side of Loki’s lower lip, and it still feels warm against his finger but he wonders if it would be cold against his mouth.
“Mobius,” Loki whispers.
He doesn’t know which of them moves first, or maybe they both move at once, but those lips are on his again, and it’s nothing like the brief, press-approved pecks that they’ve shared before. Loki tips his head and slots their mouths firmly together, parting his lips, licking past his teeth almost tentatively at first and then with more confidence when their tongues tangle together. They kiss and they kiss until Mobius’s lungs are burning, but he doesn’t dare pull away, doesn’t dare to break the spell. Then Loki shifts in his arms, and the press of their bodies together draws a low groan from his throat that finally makes Loki withdraw. Mobius is prepared for regret, or excuses, or an attempt to laugh it off—anything but how dark his eyes are when they meet Mobius’s.
“We should go,” Loki says, and the low, rough tone of his voice reaches all the way into Mobius’s gut and tugs.
It’s a miracle that they make it back to the right limo, and no sooner has Mobius settled into the back than Loki is climbing directly into his lap. There’s a broad, mischievous grin on his face before he ducks down to kiss a path along the edge of Mobius’s jaw and onward to work a spot below his ear in a way that Mobius is almost certain is going to leave a mark. Christ, it doesn’t matter, though, because it’s so damned good. His hands slide up Loki’s thighs over the lace bodysuit until his thumbs hit the crease of his hips, and when he digs his fingers into the sides of his ass Loki moans and his hips grind forward against the rapidly tightening region of Mobius’s pants.
“You want me,” Loki murmurs near his ear, punctuating it with a little nip to the taut muscle of his neck before he sits back with a teasing smile.
“Of course I do, you absolute demon,” Mobius groans. “Look at you.” He plucks at the lace. “This isn’t clothes. I swear you’ve been trying to drive me insane.”
“Is it working?” Loki asks, bending down close to the side of his face again.
“What do you think?” Mobius growls, then captures his mouth in another bruising kiss.
Getting up to the hotel room is a fucking trial, mostly because Loki refuses to detach himself from Mobius. Thank god there’s a discreet, private entrance to the hotel and an elevator that takes them nearly directly up to their suite. Somehow Loki manages to shed the bodysuit almost instantly—Mobius doesn’t even understand how it was fastened—leaving him in just the skin-tight booty shorts, and Mobius short-circuits briefly at the sight of all that bare skin. Then there’s the way his half-hard cock is straining against the fabric, which sends a jolt of white-hot desire surging deep into Mobius’s gut. Loki turns and walks toward the bedroom, swinging his hips in a way that should be illegal, and by the time Mobius manages to scramble after him he finds Loki perched on the edge of the bed and leaning back on his hands.
“Come here,” he says, his voice nearly a purr, and Mobius’s feet obey before he even registers the request.
He stands between Loki’s spread legs as the other man looks up at him through long eyelashes thick with mascara, and feels like he’s standing on the edge of a precipice. “Are you sure you want to do this?” he murmurs, letting his fingers trail lightly across Loki’s cheek. It seems impossible, but there’s no mistaking the hungry look Loki is giving him.
“Why not?” Loki asks, one perfect eyebrow arcing upward. “You want me. I want you. It doesn’t have to be complicated.”
Right. It doesn’t have to mean anything, he might have well said. Which is true. It doesn’t have to. It can just be two people finding pleasure in each other’s company. Friends with benefits are a thing. Not a thing that Mobius has ever done, but a thing nonetheless. Loki is offering everything he wanted (not everything), everything he never thought he’d get (not even close).
Why not, indeed?
After all, it’s simple enough to lean down to kiss him in answer, to let Loki’s nimble fingers efficiently divest him of his shirt and trousers. It’s simple to lose himself in the eager slide of hands and the slick heat of Loki’s mouth; so very simple to push him backward into the bed and take him apart with mouth and fingers until he’s begging, to press inside him and surrender to the pleasure that floods through his body and overwhelms all of his senses.
What’s not simple is how he feels afterward, when Loki sprawls sleepily across his chest and tangles their legs together under the covers. When they spend all night like that, wrapped up in each other’s arms. When, the next morning, Loki acts like absolutely nothing has changed, like he hasn’t just completely upended Mobius’s life.
Mobius lays in the bed for a while, just watching as Loki blithely prattles on about their schedule for the day while he rifles through his wardrobe, and then he knows: it’s going to be fucking complicated.
~~~~~
Hollywood, California, New Year’s Eve
Mobius doesn’t know what he was expecting after Loki texts him and tells him to come over early before the party, that he should bring his suit and get ready at his place, but it wasn’t for Loki to drag him inside by the collar and press him against the wall by the door. Certainly he wasn’t expecting to be kissed breathless, or for Loki to lean in close and whisper, “Will you fuck me before we go tonight?”
They’ve slept with each other a few times since Italy. Usually after one of their scheduled appearances—which Loki now fills with suggestive innuendos and hidden, risqué touches because apparently his new goal in life is to make Mobius’s life as difficult as possible—but once Loki showed up at his house in L.A. in the middle of the night wearing nothing but a silk robe and a wicked grin. Sex with Loki is frequently playful and teasing, sometimes tender (Mobius tries not to think to hard about those moments), always mind-blowing, but it’s never been like this. Desperate. He doesn’t know what to do with that, but he also doesn’t know how to say no to Loki, so he nods and lets himself be dragged off toward the bedroom.
For someone who’s main goal seemed to be sex, Loki is surprisingly fully dressed in black slacks and a plain white button-down, as if his unexpected request was a last minute decision. He allows Mobius the handful of seconds it takes him to hang up his suit for tonight on an empty hook in the closet before he pounces, pulling him into another bruising kiss as his hands drop to Mobius’s belt. It’s overwhelming, frankly, but not so overwhelming that he doesn’t feel Loki’s hands tremble as they fumble with the buckle, and that yanks him firmly out of the hazy, lust-fueled fantasy.
“Hey, hold on a second,” Mobius says as he traps Loki’s hands with his own. “What’s going on with you?”
Loki actually whines in frustration, trying ineffectually to tug out of Mobius’s grip before fixing him with a scathing glare. “Nothing. I’m fine,” he growls. “Are you going to fuck me or not?”
“Actually, no. Not if you don’t tell me what’s gotten into you,” Mobius tells him flatly, punctuating it with an unimpressed look that makes him turn his face away. “This isn’t like you, Loki.”
“How would you know what’s like me?” Loki snaps, finally yanking his hands out of Mobius’s grasp and storming across the room. “A few months and you’re an expert now?”
“I think I know you pretty well, yeah,” Mobius counters, “and I know when you’re upset.”
“I’m not upset,” Loki hisses in a way that does nothing to sell that assertion. “I’m just tense about tonight and need something to take the edge off. If you’re not interested, I’m sure I can find someone else.”
Mobius can’t quite suppress a wince, but he summons what mettle he can and stares defiantly back at Loki. “Sorry, not buying it.”
The look Loki gives him is pure ice. “You think I can’t? That I couldn’t call up any number of people and have them here at a snap of my fingers?”
“Oh no, I believe that part,” Mobius says with a humorless chuckle and an utterly mirthless smile. He makes himself stroll casually over to where Loki stands, getting into his space again. “I’m sure you could get just about anyone. I don’t think you will, though, because you won’t violate the agreement.”
The agreement—worked out between Loki’s people and Mobius’s people, and which they had precisely no say over—specified that neither of them would sleep with other people for the duration, no matter how discreet they thought they could be, because the potential for a leak was just too great. For Mobius, it certainly wasn’t going to be a problem. He didn’t fool himself that it would be the same for Loki. After Torino he’d written the sex off as a fluke, a moment of madness on Loki’s part perhaps, but when it kept happening he figured that the only reason Loki was sleeping with him now was because he couldn’t have anyone else. It made more sense than the alternative, that Loki actually wants him, of all people.
Loki stares at him for a long moment, his eyes dipping to Mobius’s lips in a way that seems almost involuntarily before he drags them back up again. When he speaks again his voice is so low it’s nearly a murmur. “How do you know I haven’t already?”
“Because I know you, Loki,” Mobius answers, just as quietly. “Maybe you are tense about tonight, but that’s not all of it. So I’m gonna ask again: what’s going on?”
Another beat. Loki looks off across the room, biting his lower lip so fiercely Mobius thinks he’s going to draw blood, and when he finally turns back he looks… shattered. “Tonight’s your final obligation,” he says, his voice unsteady. “Must be a relief.”
“…What?”
He swallows and sniffs, tipping his chin up in a weak pantomime of indifference. “No more performing. You won’t have to pretend any longer.”
Mobius can’t help it: he laughs. He doesn’t mean to, especially since Loki’s clearly upset about this in some way that he can’t quite figure out, but the whole thing is just absurd.
Predictably, Loki looks taken aback at this response. “What’s so funny?”
“Loki, I haven’t been pretending for months,” Mobius sighs. At this point, it seems silly to hold anything back. He might as well know. “I’m in love with you. So if you think tonight is going to be a relief, well. You couldn’t be more wrong.”
In all the ways he might have pictured Loki reacting to such news, he never expected him to look utterly baffled. “But…” Loki trails off, searching Mobius’s face; for what, Mobius doesn’t know. “You can’t be.”
“Oh, I assure you, I can,” Mobius says, smiling a little miserably. Loki’s just staring with his mouth hanging open, so he forges on. “Look, I know you didn’t want things to be complicated, and this is the exact opposite. I never wanted to put you in this position—”
The rest of whatever he was going to say is cut off when Loki kisses him again, and there’s some desperation in it, sure, but not in the same way. Not even close. Loki’s hands are holding either side of his face, long fingers digging into his hair, his kisses slow, deep, and utterly all-encompassing. Mobius has never been kissed like this, with such focus and care, with such pure emotion poured into it and leaking out with every gasped breath. Even when Loki finally breaks the kiss he presses their foreheads together, like he can’t bear any further space between them.
“Please, complicate it,” he breathes into the narrow gap, shifting his head slightly so their noses brush together.
“Does that mean…?” Mobius trails off, because it kinda feels like a stupid question, but still. He’d like to be sure.
Loki pulls back so he can look him in the eye as he says, “I’m in love with you, Mobius. I just never thought…” He glances down and gives his head a little shake. “You’re one of the few genuinely good people in this business, you know that? I don’t deserve you.”
“Hey, no. None of that,” Mobius says, cupping a hand around Loki’s cheek and urging his face upward again. “I won’t have you talking badly about the person I love,” he teases gently.
“Mobius,” Loki groans as he rolls his eyes.
“You are good, Loki,” Mobius insists, his expression sobering. “You are.”
He honestly expects more arguing, but Loki just looks off across the room, the corners of his eyebrows thoughtfully quirking upward in the middle. “I wanted it to be real,” he says quietly. “But the further things went, the more I convinced myself it never could be. That you’d never… never really feel that way about me. Even now, I feel as if this is some kind of fever dream. I’m going to wake up tomorrow and you’ll be gone.”
“I won’t be,” Mobius promises, reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind Loki’s ear. “Is that what this was all about? One last hurrah before the end?”
“Something like that,” Loki admits wryly. Perfect white teeth dig into his lower lip as he slowly drags it through them. “I wanted it to be hard and rough. I wanted to feel you for days afterward.”
“Jesus Loki,” Mobius huffs, gaping at him in disbelief. He swallows hard, unsure of how to respond to that. “And now? What do you want?”
Loki lifts a hand to Mobius’s face, dragging a finger lightly along his hairline and down to the crest of his cheekbone. “Just you,” he murmurs. “In whatever way you’ll have me.”
How about that? It turns out that it is simple, after all.

Okay, here's another reason Mobius is full of crap. Pretty much no one needed Loki to be "The best version of themselves"
Steve Rogers is Steve Rogers, he was already the best.
Tony Stark, ignoring the the fact he is always kind of low key a garbage person. His development was in his own prior movies. Being captured and seeing first hand the destruction he was causing. Loki insighted no positive growth. In fact because he played a part in Tony's PTSD that actually hurt him and lead to Tony making terrible decisions Loki made Tony worse
Natasha Romanoff, she broke free of heavy indoctrination own her own and was already a part of SHIELD because she felt it was for good.
Clint Barton, again already a part of Shield, was already preselected to be an Avenger
Bruce Banner, maybe you could say the invasion inspired Bruce to fight, but in the long run that didn't fix any of the self loathing issues and being a hero was almost more of obligation than something Bruce actually wanted to do. Also Bruce was already pretty heroic just as a doctor. He never stopped helping people even when it was at risk at himself.
Thor, I guess he made Thor better. So ignoring the fact Odin was the one who created the problem. Sure Loki being the villain made Thor the best of himself.
The Avengers would be heroes with or without Loki. His role is to create conflict so others can solve the conflict.
They would be heroes in their own ways but Loki's actions were necessary. They always act like he's no more than a villain but then praise certain repercussions of his actions and it's so confusing.
Mobius says that line while showing the circle shot from The Avengers: If he's blaming Loki and only Loki for the NYC invasion, then the TVA should be thankful that someone made the Avengers assemble and come together. It's all part of that plan that Renslayer mentions earlier in the ep: the team was supposed to go back in time, therefore they were meant to exist, therefore Loki wasn't really acting on his free will (in more ways than one 🙄).
If being a member of the Avengers is the best version of these characters (according to the TVA) then inevitably, Loki needs to exist and he needs to be sent to NYC. It can't work with anyone else, it has to be him. And it needs to happen.
It's pathetic that this ep is followed by one where Mobius claims Loki might want to "change" and get "tired of his role" in the Sacred Timeline to which Renslayer replies only the Time Keepers "can decree it". So which one is it, then?! "We love that the Avengers exist but we hate the NYC invasion". WTF?!
Either they care about individual incidents or they don't, but they never seem to agree on that. It could be explained as them being no more than pawns who believed HWR's propaganda but in that case the framing should accompany that with a clear stand against the TVA and its agents. Except it doesn't do that at all.
I agree with you that besides forming the team, these characters grow in their own different, separate ways. The only one who is truly changed by Loki is his brother but not because Loki is a villain, it's only because he's a mirror to the family and Asgard's shortcomings that Thor gets to grow up and learn. But I suppose Waldron wanted to make a point that all characters surrounding Loki are good and therefore he's the only one who's bad...

*SPOILERS*
Okay, X-5 is playing some serious mind games right now. He's just getting under everyone's skin. Wasn't expecting Mobius to slap him though. Maybe a punch, but not a slap. I think X-5 is just a diversion so that Dox and her crew can do what they're gonna do. Maybe they have a plan to prune all those branches, cause I find it hard to believe they need so much gear for Sylvie.
Also, the TVA has a dining area for eating pies? That's a thing?! Cause it's all pie in this room! Well, I guess a talk and pie helps for them.
Loki talking about the events of the Avengers movie is just having me remember the good old days. Also, wasn't he influenced by the Mind Stone? It was confirmed right? But, for some reason, it was never mentioned.
Anyway, the two talk over some pie, and Mobius refuses to go see what his old life was. Knowing if he had something good back then would mess him up. Maybe he had a jet ski back in his old timeline. Then again, B-15 learned about her old life and she's still going.

Hello what are the odds of us getting lokius in season 2
20% for fans getting queerbaited again
20% for Marvel pulling the ‘open to interpretation’ card
50% for both ‘getting queerbaited’ and ‘open to interpretation’
10% for Lokius actually being canon
Tbh I keep going back and forth between believing there’s a chance (a small one, but still counts) of Lokius becoming canon, and thinking ‘this is Disney we’re talking about’, because it’s hard to predict which way they’re heading towards. Especially when the only reason we got any LGBTQ representations in Disney shows/movies in the first place, in their recent projects, is because Disney was heavily, rightfully called out for it, and they needed to do the damage control.
Although it’s also hard to not have any expectations at all (my expectations are close to zero, sometimes it’s zero, but sometimes it’s a little bit higher than zero, but it’s still there) when Lokius has also kind of been hinted at since season 1 (although it could just be queerbaiting.)
I think, if I had to guess, I’d say Mobius’s feelings for Loki may be made more clear, in a way that it shows he has romantic feelings for Loki, but whether or not Loki’s feelings for Mobius are made clear, is another story.
I also don’t think Lokius will be canon as in ‘they’re explicitly in love with each other’ in season two, but I do think, if they were to be canon, it would be after season two. I got a feeling we’ll still see more of Loki and Mobius in the MCU after season two ends, and maybe the ending of the second season will lead to Lokius eventually being (somewhat) canon moving forward.
And if that were to be the case, where Lokius would eventually be canon, I’d rather have a good slow burn than a forced and rushed romance storyline.
So it doesn’t have to be in season two. They can take their time, if it’ll eventually happen.

From what I've seen on your posts you don't really like the Sonic Movie verse (which is understandable, or I'm looking at the wrong account), but I wanted to know if any of the lore regarding chaos energy and stuff in them was put into any of your fanfics or thoughts? Like the owls and echidnas thing, or Sonic having the possibility of being consumed by the sheer amount of chaos energy? Sorry for rambling lol!
i did like the sonic movies as movies but not as sonic movies. the problem was i think the first movie started off on the wrong foot- it didn’t feel like a sonic movie at all, if you just replaced the names of a few things and people, it could have been it’s own movie. and because of that set up, it’s sort of made the rest of the movies a bit wonky
and to be honest….. Eh i don’t really like the lore they’ve been setting up, either
i dont like that they made sonic an alien. ive honestly never liked the whole two worlds theory anyway but i was always more fond of the idea that the sonic games take place on earth. especially now that they’ve made them SEPERATE worlds across space a lot of iconic places wouldn’t make sense to have back on earth. and while I love to see them explore mobius in the movies it wouldn’t particularly fit Sonic’s character (at least, what they established in the movies) to go back. he found his new home in earth. so like i can kinda understand why they did the two worlds thing again i just don’t like it
The babylons. okay. there’s two aspects to this i don’t like.
1) i don’t like Longclaw. i don’t like them giving a back story for sonic, no matter how vague it was in the movies. i honestly don’t like any establishment of a parental figure or whatever in his backstory. i don’t think she’s all that interesting either, but that depends on how they plan on framing her character after they revealed she killed a bunch of echidna and has been fighting over the master emerald for years
2) i don’t like the lore they’ve set up with the master emerald. IM SO MAD ABOUT THIS ONE BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO ME THAT BY SKIPPING TO SA2 THEYRE SKIPPING SA1. longclaw basically took the role of perfect chaos anyway- destroying the rest of the echidna clan and being a guardian of the master emerald. she took chaos’s role and i frankly don’t like that. do you know what i would GIVE to see perfect chaos on the big screen. also like EVERY BIT OF LORE FROM SA1. just basically gone wiped not at all acknowledged and that kinda pisses me off.
like i don’t like the complete rewrite of knuckles’s lore tbh. he’s an entirely different character, just like they did with sonic. i think it was interesting to have him be the guardian along with sonic and tails but i think that completely undermines the intentions of his character. solitary and duty bound and learning to loosen up. idk the guardianship was pivotal to knuckles’s character and i have conflicting feelings on what they’re doing with that. i just want an adaptation that’s like somewhat faithful to the source material come on….
actually i just can’t fucking believe they would skip sa1. i CANT fucking believe it. it does set up sa2 intentionally or not. i just don’t think you should have one story without the other. insane but WHATEVER.
as for the chaos emerald lore…. hm I have conflicting feelings. the concept of the emeralds merging together to form the master emerald was pretty cool, but i don’t really like it. the chaos emeralds were a staple before the master emerald…. i probably would have done it backwards and made them collect the emeralds to find out it could create the master emerald. or not use the idea at all lol. neat but not really interesting.
im curious to see where they go with it but as far as we’ve gotten, i wouldn’t be incorporating much of it into my own interpretation of lore

HEY LOKI FANS
i thought u would appreciate my semi-coherent ramblings about the leaked loki s2 trailer that i sent my best friend yesterday while sleep deprived and swamped with schoolwork
part 1
here are some of my thoughts on this trailer bc i have composed myself enough to send them
1. LOKI IS SO.
2. seeing casey gave me SO MUCH SEROTONIN
3. i saw the red car and my FIRST thought was lightning mcqueen
4. the pruning of that wall in the tva is giving hela destroying the palace ceiling
5. the scene with loki and mobius sitting at the table i am so ill
6. is sylvie the one pulling loki through time? my initial thought was that lokis been out of his timeline for too long but that wouldnt make sense bc sylvies been out of her timeline for AGES so there has to be someone behind it so either its sylvie whos unseated kang or its a kang variant (which seems really likely bc of avengers 5)
7. i REALLY want to know if this version of mobius has regained his memories or if hes starting fresh with loki
8. not enough hair flips :(
9. where has ravonna gone? i want to know if she is still working for kang or if shes been wiped too
10. i would like to see more of sylvies backstory in this season, rn shes just an op “superior” loki and i think her character needs to undergo MASSIVE renovation to redeem her bc she had so much potential
11. this isnt gonna happen but i want an aoa lady loki variant so fucking bad dude
12. lokis powers and character needs to be more fleshed out this season.
part 2
a few more thoughts
1. its interesting the way that lokis depicted as being pulled through time. like theres no time door involved and when tempads are used to pull someone through time u can see the person moving its just sped up or slowed down. so why does it look like lokis almost like glitching? it makes me believe that this is either a kang variant or some other force outside of the tva
2. the way that loki disappeared was so weird like it looked like disappararing in harry potter
3. the desert?? weve seen two notable desertlike scenes so far: the gobi desert and pompeii. this definitely isnt either, bc the tesseract is what pulled loki to the gobi desert and pompeii was to test that one theory. im wondering why he would go there tho, like is he looking for sylvie or is he looking for kang?
4. in the scene where lokis glitching ljke crazy u can see that he has on the straps for lævateinn’s sheath thing, so therefore i can deduce that this is very shortly after the loki s1 finale
5. its therefore likely that mobius has no clue who loki is in this scene, but if this is when its set, wouldnt the hallway be full of minutemen? the timeline is falling apart the tva should be in chaos BUT its not which means that this is likely not a main hallway of the tva. so is loki looking for something specific or is he just aimlessly running. he probably has a relatively decent knowledge of the tva’s layout since he was able to find mobius in the last scene of s1 and hes been working there, so either this new kang variant thats taken over has drastically changed the tva’s structure, this hallway bears some significance, or im overthinking this
6. the bluish room loki enters immediately after is VASTLY different from the tvas typical appearance. is this some new part of the tva we havent seen or is it something else entirely?
7. i think its really interesting that loki pruned a whole wall. like i find it statistically improbable that during previous fights in the tva no one has ever hit a wall or the floor or something with their weapon. so THEREFORE theres something significant about this specific wall. why can it be pruned but not the rest of the tva? is it bc the wall was established by a new version of kang and therefore is considered “foreign” to the old sacred timeline? hmm
8. there are still three faces. its hard to see all three unfortunately but there are still clearly three. is this new version of the tva being run by a triumvirate of kangs? also the new avengers movie is called the kang dynasty so this implies multiple kangs.
9. oh i REALLY want to know what the room with the windows/arched ceiling is. its def the tva bc the person nearest to the camera is very clearly wearing the minutemen uniform
10. this new dude sitting behind that desk is handing loki and mobius a sticky note. he seems eccentric, im very excited to see more of him
11. sylvie is no longer running between apocalypses. why? shes clearly not trying to get the tvas attention or lokis but hes def actively looking for her.
12. casey :( if they kill him i will LOSE IT.
13. theres two figures climbing over a roof, prob loki and mobius (side note im so glad that it looks like were getting more lokius interaction bc in s1 it put their dynamic on the back burner too much)
14. im so excited for this scene of them undercover at a party/event FUCK DUDE
15. WHO ALMOST HIT LOKI WITH A CAR LMFAO
16. LOKI USING HIS ILLUSION MAGIC 😩😩😩
17. IS THAT A NEW FUCKING LOKI VARIANT OH MY GOD
18. NEW JUDGE NEW JUDGE NEW JUDGE
19. im so glad were getting little moments between loki and mobius ugh

Loki Episode 1 Thoughts
I was debating whether to write this because I feel like the episode itself kinda pointed all of it out at one point or the other but ah, what the hell, I'll write it.
First of all, I'd like to start with the fact that this episode was pretty much devoid of typical Marvel action stuff which I feel like becomes more of the norm for phase 4 and that's nice. Tbh after the last two Avengers movies, I think any attempt to top the spectacle will be kinda unnecessary at best and probably unsuccessful. This new direction of trying to explore more about the characters and their feelings might just be better. Emotional moments have been the ones that have held my attention in any and every phase 4 media so far and I hope they'll focus more on those.
Seeing them show the Infinity Stones being useless was imo one of the best parts of the MCU to date (shame that they went back to doing Infinity War + Endgame 2.0 in What If...?). And it was great to see Loki's reaction to the same. I like how it made the facade he was trying so hard to keep up just crumble. It kinda feels like it freed him tbh and that could be great for his subsequent development. I have to say that I figured out that he was projecting when he was ranting about the TVA being pathetic and I was kinda disappointed the episode went ahead and straight up confirmed it because I wanted to unpack it but now there's really no point in that.
Anyway, seeing Loki admit it was a big thing. He's been struggling his whole life with this feeling of helplessness and admitting it has been his problem all along. The realization that he was facing some people who were really powerful hit him very hard and so did the idea that he's just a supporting character, an evil for others to rise above, did as well. But I have to say that I don't agree with that. Loki may not have been a central character in the MCU but he had his own development and he also became better. Even if he still clung to the illusion of power that crumbled during the confrontation with Thanos (I'm starting to think that as much as his death hurt me, it actually makes great narrative sense). So I'm thinking his arc here will be about discarding the illusion (which he wasn't able to do in the og timeline) and managing to become even better because of that and prove he is not a supporting character in his own story. And if that's where we're going, then there really is a good point to the existence of this series. I'm not surprised by that per se but it's good to really see how it is relevant to the characters and adds more to them.
A last couple of notes. I really like Mobius so far. I think that he might not actually believe what he told Loki about Loki's purpose but did it that way in order to force Loki to come out from behind his facade. Or maybe he was just trying to get him to drop the superiority and help him. Either way I enjoyed him and his calm attitude, especially towards Loki. I don't think anyone's ever reacted like that towards Loki and their dynamic can be really fun.
Also, when the French girl pointed to the image of the devil, I totally thought that that meant some other variant of Loki was the big baddie here. They all have the horns, right? Even the crocodile (I might have spoiled some of this for myself from tumblr gifs.)

Loki thoughts
All right, here we go, finale day is upon us. I haven't been this tense about the outcome of a character's story in years. Probably not since Winter Soldier or XMFC. Those were such great movies that had me so invested in the characters and then everything that came after soured me to the point where I've struggled to re-watch the movies. Praying that doesn't happen this time.
Dropping some guesses/predictions under the cut because it's always fun to see what I get wrong.
Based on the scenes still left from the mid-season trailer, I expect we'll see Loki trying more than once to go back in time and stop the Temporal Loom's destruction, possibly going farther and farther back until we get the scene with him and Mobius in the time theater, just after he was brought in. I'm guessing Victor tries twice more to fix the Loom but to no avail, which makes me think Loki eventually realizes he can't fix it by changing the past and has to do something more drastic. This might be where the shot of him out on the walkway without a suit might come in. Maybe he decides he has to go face the Loom and use his new powers to save the day. How exactly he does that, I'm not sure but it seems like they're teasing hints of the God of Stories storyline from the comics. Plus I keep remembering that line in s1 where Loki said "I think we're stronger than we realize."
Not a prediction but a fear that I've voiced before: I really don't want an ending where Loki is alone as the new HWR. I'm hoping they won't go in that direction, especially after the bar scene in ep 5. Just...don't have him show that kind of vulnerability and then stab him right in the weak spot. My heart can't take it.
I have no clue as to what will happen with Sylvie. Part of me thinks the writers will let her go back to her life on the branch (if Loki can restore it) because I just don't see them setting up a Sylki ending. Sylvie seems to understand the need for intervention now, but I don't think she'd be happy monitoring the flow of time, even with Loki by her side.
There's also still that shot of Ravonna in the Void. Seems unlikely that she'd be shown just to be gobbled by Alioth so maybe they're going to try and find redemption for her character.
That's all I've got. I could keep spinning ideas but this show is consuming enough of my brainpower as it is. I can't believe it's already ending. 6 episode seasons are tough after a long streak of only watching kdrama and cdramas (even if I sometimes think the latter don't justify the number of episodes). Guess I'll have to wallow in my feels and see if any new fics pop up to help me cope in the aftermath. 🥲

Every Single Issue I Have With S*lki (It’s Not Just The Selfcest)
Here goes. I threatened to post this a few days ago and never did, but I just saw a s*lki stan Twitter account claim that Loki caring about Sylvie more than the whole multiverse was a Good And Romantic thing and it pushed me over the fucking edge, so now you all have to read this. I’ve divided it into categories cause there’s just THAT much.
OOC Bullshit
• First and foremost, no amount of mental gymnastics you do will ever make me believe that this specific Loki- the one that just invaded New York, that just came off a year of Thanos Torture, that just got done being influenced by the sceptre, that was literally in the middle of a crisis already, and then on top of that went through all the trauma of Ep 1- would even be worried about a romantic relationship. That would be the furthest thing from his mind. Go back and watch how he acted in Avengers- you think that guy would abandon his previous mission to become a snivelling simp for a girl he’d just met 3 days prior? Yeah, there’s no universe in which that makes sense.
• “It’s very in character for Loki to fall in love with himself lololol-“ NO, it’s literally not. Out of all the characters in the mcu, I don’t think I can think of anyone that genuinely hates themselves more than Loki. He even referred to all his other male variants as “monsters” and said meeting them was “a nightmare” in this series. He’s got so much self-loathing, plus the fact that he genuinely thinks himself to be an evil backstabbing scourge- so there’s no evidence at all suggesting that he would ever develop a fondness for, or even be inclined to trust, another version of himself, after only knowing them for 3 days.
• Building on that, the whole concept of Loki falling in love with a version of himself just feeds into the annoying ass misconception that he’s a narcissist. No matter which way you stack it, he’s not. If you’re referring to NPD, he doesn’t fit the criteria, and if you’re saying “narcissist” just as a slang term meaning “selfish and arrogant”, that still doesn’t accurately describe him. But when creators like Waldron and Herron do things like having him fall in love with himself, it makes it so much easier for casual viewers to think that he is.
Shitty LGBT Rep
• It’s kinda sus that Loki’s are allegedly genderfluid and yet the only female-presenting variant we see (and apparently the only female-presenting variant there is, cause the male Loki’s all seemed unfamiliar with the concept) is treated as some kind of mind-bogglingly special paradox. Also very sus that, out of all the Loki variants, the one our Loki falls in love with just so happens to be the only female one. What a coincidence.
• The fact that the creators of the show went around bragging about Loki’s bisexuality and Marvel purposefully (lbr) allowed stories about Loki possibly having a male love interest to circulate, specifically enticing queer viewers to watch the show (you know, the definition of queerbaiting), and then instead of having a male love interest (Loki was the first queer main character, so it was the perfect opportunity) they gave us *gestures to this dumpster fire* this… it’s just a middle finger to LGBT fans. The fact that they would rather have this relationship with all its myriad of problems than have a gay relationship is just……. Very telling.
• While him being with a woman obviously doesn’t refute his bisexuality, the fact that they showed/talked about him being interested in 3 different women (flight attendant, Sylvie, Sif) and never even hinted at him being attracted to a man, definitely makes it seem like they were trying to cover up his bisexuality to smooth things over with the more homophobic viewers. You know? It’s like “I know you’re pissed that we sorta confirmed Loki as bi, so we promise we’ll never mention it again! Or even hint at it! As a matter of fact, we’ll give him lots of female lovies and make him seem as straight as possible! That’ll take your mind off of that horrible crumb of queer rep, right? Please please please keep giving us your money!!!”
• Aside from all the other issues, at its core, the biggest reason why I think I’m so irritated with s*lki is that it took one of the most interesting, complex, and diverse characters in cinema atm and squished him into a tired ass unnecessary heteronormative subplot…. Like literally every. single. other. protagonist. ever. Loki is such a unique character, and it’s so so so incredibly disappointing that they stuck him into that same boring cookie cutter romance that happens to every other character in every other movie I’ve ever seen. It’s a disservice, and it’s honestly just not compelling or entertaining at all.
Thematic Issues Galore
• His arc didn’t need a romance. With anyone. It was unnecessary and it didn’t make sense plot-wise. In fact, one of the reasons he was my fav prior to this was because he was the only big-name mcu character whose story wasn’t muddied-up by a romance that didn’t need to be there. So much for that.
• He wasn’t emotionally ready for a romantic relationship with anyone. Hell, just a genuine friendship would’ve been pushing it for him at this point. He was in such a bad state that any relationship he got into would’ve been toxic and unhealthy for both him and the other person, and it doesn’t make sense why the writers would want to put him in one when there were so many cons and essentially no pros (other than “Uwu aren’t they cute together”).
• Sylvie’s character in general was unnecessary and Loki’s character was robbed just by her being there. The whole show became about her post-Ep 2. They spent most of the time giving her backstory, building her up, telling us how awesome she is, trying to convince us to like her, etc when what they really needed to be doing was building Loki up- cause I gotta say, if I had to describe TVA!Loki in a few words, they would be Flat, Boring, and Weak.
• The romance overtakes the plot. They spend time portraying their supposed connection that could’ve been spent adding depth and complexity to literally any of the characters. They make the big Nexus Event them giving each other googly eyes on Lamentis when it could’ve been so many other way more profound things that speak to the fundamental nature of Loki’s. They have the climax of the finale be “oh no she betrayed him to kill He Who Remains” when it could’ve been something way more compelling (Loki having a moral crisis over whether or not to kill HWR, Loki contemplating the state of the multiverse and weighing the pros and cons of freedom vs order, Loki looking into some What If situations and getting emotional about what could’ve been regarding his family, Loki realising the gravity of HWR’s offer and finally coming to terms with how important he is to the universal cycle, etc etc). The entire plot suffered in favour of a romance that half of us didn’t even want.
• It essentially reduced all of Loki’s potential character growth down to “He did it for his crush.” He seemed to at least have some motivations of his own in Ep 1-2 (feeble as they were) but after Sylvie showed up in Ep 3, literally every action he took was just him being a simp for her. Why did he lie in the interrogation? To try to protect Sylvie. Why did he fight the minutemen and Timekeepers? To survive kinda, but mostly cause it was important to Sylvie. Why did he get pruned? Cause he got distracted trying to confess his crush to Sylvie. Why did he try to get out of The Void? Cause he thought Sylvie needed him. Why did he stay in The Void? Cause Sylvie was staying. Why did he try to enchant Alioth? Cause Sylvie told him to. Why did the multiverse get cracked open, leading to an infinite number of Kangs waging war on all of existence? Cause Loki didn’t wanna hurt Sylvie in their fight at the Citadel and then get distracted by her kissing him. It’s uninteresting and honestly pretty embarrassing.
• Throughout their “relationship arc” the writers do their absolute damndest to convince us that we should like Sylvie more than Loki. And you know what? It’s the most hypocritical shit I’ve ever seen. They preach and preach about how Sylvie’s life has been so difficult/we should feel bad for her/she had it so bad/poor poor sylvie/she had it SO much worse than pampered prince Loki…. But then they never even touch on any of Loki’s trauma of hardships (the ones that have been ignored for literally 3 movies now). They frame Sylvie as a good person and a Freedom Fighter after she spent literal decades/centuries mass-murdering brainwashed TVA agents and showing exactly zero remorse for it….. but then they make it their mission to constantly remind us that Loki is a terrible person and constantly put him in situations where he’s forced to acknowledge his wrongdoings/show remorse/admit to how “evil” he is for being a mass murderer for like 2 years. They show him on-screen having a wider range of powers than her, and perpetuate his whole shtick of being a “master manipulator” or whatever….. But then they make Sylvie “the brawn” more competent, intelligent, and physically capable than him. Tell me how it’s a good thing for a ship to be so narratively biased toward one character.
Missed Opportunities
• If they absolutely had to have a romance subplot, then they could’ve paired Loki with one of the characters that have already been established OR one of the characters that were a big part of the whole TVA storyline anyway. It would’ve been so interesting if they’d revealed that Loki had a history with some of the players from previous films (Sif and Fandral both come to mind). It also would’ve been really interesting if they’d given Loki a love interest that actually had some allegiance to the TVA as a whole (Mobius maybe, but not necessarily. It also could’ve been Renslayer or B-15). Hell, imo it would’ve been cool if they’d followed through with that “See you again someday” line that he said to the flight attendant in Ep 1. ALL of these characters have way more chemistry with him than Sylvie, and they were also already relevant to the plot without wasting half the show to give background info on them.
• If they absolutely had to have a hetero-presenting love story involving an enchantress-type figure, then there’s a whole Enchantress (Amora) that was actually Loki’s love interest in the comics. Plus, fans have been screaming for Amora to appear in the mcu for years. Plus, Tom literally pitched an Amora/Loki storyline way back in 2012-13. Also, Lorelei (another enchantress) is also one of Loki’s love interests in the comics, and she already exists in the mcu (she was on Agents of SHIELD). There were several different established characters for them to choose from. Creating a whole knew amalgamation of a character and going with the “she’s a Loki variant” storyline was just completely unnecessary and made no sense.
• They completely robbed us of a Chaos Twins dynamic. Had they handled Sylvie better and not forced her and Loki to smooch, the two of them could’ve had a really really complex and interesting sibling relationship. Loki could’ve stepped into Thor’s shoes and sort of used that new role to gain some self importance, and Sylvie could’ve finally had somebody to look out for her/teach her magic/be there for her. It would’ve been very aesthetically pleasing, the vibes would’ve been out of this world, it would’ve been way more profound than this bs, and frankly it would’ve been much more entertaining to watch.
• Loki’s relationship (read: obsession) with Sylvie completely overshadows all Loki’s other relationships in the show. Loki and Mobius were literally the focal point of the series in Ep 1-2, but after Sylvie showed up in Ep 3, they barely had any interactions with each other, and Mobius pretty much faded to the background entirely. Loki had the beginnings of a pretty interesting antagonistic relationship with Renslayer (with her wanting him pruned, then arguing with Mobius that he couldn’t be trusted), but after Sylvie showed up the dynamic shifted to focus on the history between her and Ravonna. Loki and B-15 started off very badly and openly disliked each other throughout Ep 1-2, and then in the end of Ep 2, Loki showed a little bit of concern for her when she was possessed, hinting that they might be inching toward a reconciliation- especially considering how obvious it was that Loki was gonna uncover the TVA’s sins eventually. There was so much potential for him to be the one to give her her memories back and convince her to change sides, but no, of course that honor went to Sylvie. In fact, after Sylvie showed up, Loki and B-15 never even spoke to each other again.
Various S*lki Fails
• If they were trying to convince us that this affection was mutual, they completely failed. There’s nothing I’ve seen that even hints at Sylvie feeling the same way about Loki that he does about her. At most, I’d say she has a slight endearment to him. She finds him likeable and she’s grudgingly fond of him, but she definitely isn’t in love with the guy. Maybe she thinks he’s cute and hopes that he gets out of this mess alright, but her mission obviously comes before him- whereas, it’s been confirmed multiple times that Loki cares about her above anything else. She doesn’t trust him, she looks at him like he’s an incompetent fool half the time, she shows little to no reaction during most of his confession moments, and she kissed him as a means to distract him so that she could get him out of her way. Look, all I’m saying is, when you get into a relationship where one of you is way more invested than the other, it never ends well.
• This goes without saying for a lot of us, but the selfcest is just straight up odd and cringey. If you’re cool with that sort of thing, fine! People can ship what they want! But don’t pretend it’s not at least a little bit uncomfortable. Yes, I know they’re not technically siblings so it’s not technically incest, and they’re also not technically the exact same person, but they’re similar enough that it makes things weird. And yes I know selfcest can’t happen in real life, so there’s no way to judge it morally, but neither can most of the other stuff that happens in these shows/movies (the Snap, Loki destroying jotunheim, superhero with powers being held accountable, mind control) and yet we still find ways to judge their morality, because they all mirror real-world events. (The snap= genocide; Loki destroying Jotunheim= bombing other countries; superhero accountability= weapons accountability; mind control= grooming and coercion). And lbr the closest real-world mirror to two versions of the same person (who may or may not share DNA, family, backgrounds, physical and emotion characteristics) being romantically involved with one another is incest. And you can be ok with that if you want- that’s your prerogative- but don’t get pissy just cause a lot of us are squicked out by it.
• The whole mirror metaphor (learning self love via each other) thing just fell completely flat. First of all, having Loki learn to love himself by looking at someone who mirrors him did not, in any way shape or form, require them to be romantically involved. But they were. Of course. Secondly, the creators have contradicted themselves so many times on whether Loki and Sylvie are the same or not, that it doesn’t even really register to the viewer that the mirroring thing was what they were going for. Finally, Loki and Sylvie are shown to have so little in common- and to have only the most bare minimum of similarities personality-wise- that it doesn’t even make sense that Loki would “learn to love himself through loving her”. Like? They’re nothing alike. So how would he make the connection that he himself is actually pretty cool, based on her alone? There’s virtually nothing in her that reflects him.
• I know the objective of the entire show was to convince us of how awesome and unique Sylvie is, but honestly her relationship with Loki just did the opposite. A hallmark of a Mary Sue is having her constantly upstage the male lead, and then having him instantly fall madly in love with her anyway. And that’s.. exactly what happened here. Everything they’re doing to try to force her character to be more stan-able is really just forcing her to look more like their self-insert OC. Which is exactly what she is. It would’ve been so much more satisfying if she didn’t have to try so hard to look cool, if they didn’t have to try so hard to make her backstory tear-inducing, if they didn’t have to turn our protagonist into a snivelling simp just to prove how incredible she supposedly is. Very much #GirlBoss energy and we all know how performative and cheap that is.
• The entire thing was too rushed, there was too little build-up, and it was nowhere near believable. As stated above, it’s ridiculously unlikely that Loki would canonically even be interested in Sylvie, and this show did nothing to explain why he was. He just suddenly was. There was nothing they showed us as viewers that would justify a guy as closed-off and preoccupied as Loki falling head-over-heels for a girl he just met. Their was no explanation, no big revelation, no reasoning, it just… kinda happened. And I’m also severely skeptical of any love story that has the characters go in this deep after only 3 45-minute episodes of exposition.
I’m sure there’s other stuff, so if anyone thinks of anything, let me know and I’ll be more than happy to add it. Tagging @janetsnakehole02 @raifenlf @natures-marvel and @brightredsunset800 for expressing interest. This is all your faults.
