GOOD DAY EVERYONE, HAPPY EL WOO WOO WEDNESDAY! I haven't been tagged and I didn't have anything to share. In fact, I was feeling Pretty Bad, but then I got hit by a sudden Moment of Inspiration and I wrote 480 words for The Class Menagerie, which, compared to earlier progress reports, is huge and I want to share that!

Have some Kurt lore:

“How did you get into teaching?” Blaine asks. Kurt lets out a sigh. It isn’t a big marvellous story. Teaching wasn’t his dream growing up, but that is fine. Sometimes you work hard on something, only to realise that it isn’t what you want after all. That’s what happened to Kurt. He was enrolled in a drama school, but he wasn’t feeling it. This only stressed him out, because he’d worked hard to be accepted into the school. He thought that acting on stage was his dream, so it really messed him up when he realised that it wasn’t true. Still, he saw no way out. He was committed to finishing his degree. Then in his second year he had to do an internship and he did it at a school. He helped out in a drama department and it was as if the clouds in his head parted. He realised that he was still young and that he had his life ahead of him, so he made the big decision to quit drama school to learn to become a teacher. During that time, he realised he preferred the pre-school age. “And here I am,” Kurt wraps up his story.

I am still not finished and I hope (HOPE!) to have finished it on the 30th, so that I can post it within the posting period, but I am carefully and yet totally obviously planting the seed here that I might not make it. I did revise my plans for the ending, but alas, I don't know the concrete plans. But it's a-going!

The first night Kaeya had been brought to the Ragnvindr house, he could not sleep. He lay awake in bed, half expecting to be thrown out once morning came, so he wanted to be ready to face that. The second night, and the very night he realized he might actually be there to stay, he had followed an old Khaenri’ahn tradition his father had mentioned to him to cement that fact.

He had waited for all to sleep then snuck to the great fireplace he’d spotted while being shown around the place, and, after clumsily murmuring what he remembered to be the proper rites, walked through the still spot-stained place.

He had been caught by Adelinde during this process, and in spite of his fears at the time that she would hurt or scold him, she in fact not only heard him out to find out why he had done this, but also had helped him complete the final step of the process, letting him walk into her arms to show her acceptance of him in this new place. This new home.

It is for this reason, that Kaeya is quite attached to Adelinde, and had warmed up to her the fastest out of everyone else in the Ragnvindr household. From that moment on, she was now his safe place, when he wouldn’t trust most any other with his deepest, most painful emotions. For that moment on, no matter what happened or what may happen to him, wherever Adelinde would be, that to him, would certainly above all else truly be Home.

a short thing of random thoughty thoughts

• Damian uses tone indicators (the /j, /srs, /g thing) bc he needs people to know his threats are legit, also he has a hard time with emotions and telling them apart so it’s helpful for him and he sometimes has a hard time getting things across in the right way so it makes it easier for him to be understood

• Tim has so many overdue school library books in his room that they have essentially become his, he doesn’t even remember checking them out but they’re there

• Most places/teachers always have music playing in the background and Damian always tries to fine a taping pattern that goes along with the beats of the song/instruments playing

• Damian has a pin collection of just ones he finds cool, he had some of his school backpack once but one of them fell off once and someone almost took it so he keeps them safely in his room now

• Bruce uses military time bc alfred does and he got used to it, this in turn leads to them only using that so everyone else grows used to that time system and its the only one they can work with and that makes sense to them
