Fanart of Pru, specifically from @shoalsea’s delightful fanfiction Compassion Builds No House! I can not recommend it enough, it’s very well written, and was my introduction to this character! This scene is from chapter 11, which is a really fun chapter.

I had fun deciding how to draw Pru, and took some liberties with her design. In the Red Robin comics her piercings are inconsistent, and her nose gets injured weirdly often. In her first fight with Tim I believe he breaks her nose three times, in issue 10 Steph kicks her, and in the very next issue a Spider slashes her across the face. Bad times for Prudence.

After reading the comics and then rereading Compassion Builds No House, the story feels like the natural progression of many of the characters and storylines introduced in the comic run. The characterization is all excellent and nuanced, and there’s an element of mystery to it that I really enjoy. There are lots of clues and hints to later reveals, which make those reveals so much more satisfying.

I definitely plan on doing more fanart for it, and if there are any recommendations or requests those are welcome!

random note about king on that animation, i got really lucky with how simple his animation was and how clean my sketches were to begin with that i was able to do very minimal cleanup on what i had sketched (and add back. his horn. it's supposed to take place just after echoes of the past, Oops) and call it done that way instead of having to redraw the entire thing like i had to on his dad

first sketch > line cleanup > nearly final animation (i'd added slight eye movements last-second but otherwise that's the final)

I AM NOT AN ANIMATOR I AM JUST A HOBBYIST...#i animate like once a year... shits hard man.... but apparently when i do animate. its extremely good :) proud of that #even if i have an extremely unhinged way of animating #i don't have an animation program i draw everything individually frame by frame in photoshop #each character had their own psd file with the same background and every frame was its own group. twice. one for sketch one for colors #i do test takes with gifcam (there are literally 55 WIP gifs in my documents folder rn) by switching between layers and taking a 'frame'#and i compile in blender's video editor and to move things separately i save each character's frame in its own .png 'cel'#so luz was her own 'cel'. king was his own 'cel.' etc. and then i have to manually slide the lengths of the frames around #to match the right framerate. traditionally animation is animated at 24 FPS on 2's - so 12 frames a second. i go on 3s. 4 to slow down #anime-ass framerate. i'm insane apparently but its what i like to do #i dont understand real animation programs they have too many pieces but i DO understand photoshop and my funny brushes #imagine having Digital Programs and Still basically doing ye olde traditional animation method just in the computer #if im Just making a gif then i only use gifcam and switch between layers. like digital stop motion. somethings wrong with me

jasico server was chatting about the cupid scene and jason getting nico's memories blasted straight into his brain and how jason being shot with one of cupid's arrows while with nico and this was just never brought up in canon again and now i'm thinking like...what if that's just how cupid's arrows work? not by magically manifesting love for someone out of nothing, but by giving someone the perspective that'd make them fall in love naturally? jason gets a front row seat to nico's memories and instantly understands him intimately and can trust him completely without any doubt or suspicion

so what if jason, after slowly realizing he's totally in love with nico, just thought back to the arrow incident and it made him second-guess everything? because maybe he's only feeling this way because cupid hit him with an arrow with only nico was around and it's no different than any other god messing with his love life

#i live for anything that drags out the pining/pre-relationship period as long as possible okay #give me the drama of jason frustrated about constantly being manipulated by gods #in love with nico but convinced it's just cupid fucking with him and not wanting nico to get dragged into it #maybe telling nico eventually because he's having trouble hiding his feelings and he doesn't wanna hurt nico by confusing him #which is of course an emotional rollercoaster for nico #hearing jason say he's in love with him only to then immediately hear that it's just godly fuckery #nico agreeing to help jason find cupid to get it reversed because he knows how much it sucks having feelings for someone unwillingly #and he doesn't want jason stuck mooning over someone like him just because he was unkucky enough to be with nico for the cupid incident #whole quest in which nico develops feelings in return and angsts because he's sure jason only feels that way because of the arrow #maybe a slip-up in the middle somewhere with nico accidentally revealing he likes jason back before backpedaling wildly #so now jason has hope despite himself because he'd never really thought it was possible anyway given nico's feelings for percy #and he doesn't like being manipulated by gods but he doesn't mind the idea of being in love with nico #and what if he just gave up on the hunt for cupid entirely and let it happen #while nico feels guilty since clearly it's just cupid arrow magic fucking with jason and he's enabling it #and then of course when they finally find cupid he explains how his arrows work and that he can't just FORCE someone to be in love #no more than hera could with jason and piper by fucking with their memories to push them together #cupid's methods are just way more effective #my tag babble ended up longer than the actual post oh my god #pjo #jasico #my dumb headcanons

I’m starting to think that all 14 members of the Double Life server share about three brain cells between them. They’re supposed to be splitting them equally, but most of the time Cleo, Scott, and Grian just have a whole one each. Grian forgets he has his most of the time though and he has a tendency to drop it and leave it on the ground for hours at a time.

They all lent a quarter of a brain cell to Tango during Session 3 so he could pull off the Warden delivery service. Scott keeps giving his to Cleo for her to hold onto like a beer whenever Pearl shows up so he can match her energy. Grian dropped his on Scott’s head during the fishing rod game so he had the strength to lift both Etho and Joel
