daily practice ⋆·˚ ༘ *
❃゜・。. ・°゜✼ ゜°・ . 。・゜❃・。. ・°゜✼ ゜°・ . 。・゜❃
the act of daily practice if often very misunderstood. a daily practice does not mean to do spells and rituals every single day in order to be a witch. it is not necessary for a daily practice to be huge or something specifically special.
you may even find yourself so distant from your craft that you put it on pause for weeks, yeah even months. does this make you any less of a witch? does this make you any less powerful? no, absolutely not!
we are human beings. it is absolutely normal to put certain things last, especially when there are more important things for you at the time. perhaps you can't practice witchcraft while studying for exams or during stressful and difficult times. or you just can't bring yourself to practice it for no specific reason at all.
just know that this is so damn normal. you should never feel bad about yourself for pausing your craft. there might be a reason for that you don't yet understand! so don't push yourself too hard.
a way to keep the magic in your life, even after pausing your craft for a while, is by incorporating daily practices into your everyday-routine, even when you're still practicing actively at the moment.
now what does daily practice mean?
daily practices are the things you do on a daily basis, regularly. we'll soon get to how some of these practices can look like.
it can help you to stay in touch with your craft, with your power, you spirit guides, deities, etc. even on days you're not drawn to do actual magical rituals—which is NORMAL and absolutely OKAY.
a few examples of daily practices:
1. stirring intentions in your drinks and foods
2. wearing crystals
3. enchant your jewelry and wear it
4. dress according to today's planet ruler
5. put spell oils on your body or clothes
6. use glamour magic (this can be as simple as drawing sigils or runes on your face with your moisturizer or makeup)
7. light an ancestor, deity or spirit guide candle (if you have one)
8. divination

If, like me, you have always felt a strong connection to trees, I have a fun little activity for you to try! One of my newly acquired rituals when it comes to magical work is to collect fallen lichen when hiking in the woods, and use it in protection workings. For example, I love placing it near my bedpost and along windows! Lichen only grows in areas where the air is pure and clean, devoid of smog and protected from pollution. For this reason, and since I'm afflicted with a respiratory condition, I've always felt like lichen was a great symbol of healthy air and of a healthy environment in general. To me, it feels like it purifies whatever room in place it in, and many of the magical workings I use it for!

Tips for Witchcraft in the Dorm
If you're in a situation where you have a roommate that may not be open to your craft, you're in the broom closet and being in college makes it even harder to practice, you're starting your witch journey while in college, you couldn't take a full sized altar to school, or you're like me and attend a private Christian college (ugh) that makes you feel the need to be discreet, this post is for you!
If you have an altar: Find a way to downsize your altar. For some this isn't a huge thing, but I'm the kind of gal that liked to go all out with my space. The best way to do it is to find a box or container that can be moved easily and has all your essentials, and only take what can fit. If you can't fit certain tools, it's best to find substitutions. A small bowl that can hold water will work just as well as a crystal ball. Putting herbs in bags will allow more room than jars.
Alternative to candle magic: I know the urge to put tape over that fire alarm is real but I'm unfortunately a goody two shoes. Luckily wax burners exist and you can get all the fun of candle magic minus the flame. I like to draw sigils into my wax before melting it for spellwork; and you can get all sorts of different colored wax. If you need unscented wax, you can buy white wax and dye it.
Some discreet types of magic to look into:
Tea. Tea. Tea. I cannot stress how useful tea magic is. There's loads of information about it right here on Tumblr! Most dorms allow ectric teapots and tea is easy to store.
Knot magic. Here's a great post about it. Absolutely any kind of spell can be done with a knot and it's super easy to implement into everyday activities.
Moon magic. Guys, the moon is awesome. Work with it. Moon water is a great manifestation tool and corresponding anything with the moon phases is an instant boost. It's also free and super easy.
Sigils. Really fun to learn and really easy to draw in a couple journals, on a foggy window, in your tea as you stir it, or on your skin. I recommend Pinterest if you're trying to find tutorials.
Runes. I like to cast physical runes but there's lots of ways to use these in everyday magic. Each symbol has their own meaning and there's an abundance of information on them. Similar to sigils, I like to draw them on things.
Extra tips:
Learn the correspondences for each day of the week. Doing little things for each day will keep you connected to your craft as you get through college.
Anything can be a chalice. Cleanse that cup and you're good to go.
Astrology is your friend.
I'm here for you. College is hard. Dorming can be a pain too.
I hope this helps someone. Reblog if you can. Love you all!

(Spawned by this post and done separately bc I didn't want to derail.)
Folk magic traditions and folk medicine, historically speaking, tend to rely heavily on regionally-available resources. Whatever was growing in their particular biome was what got used. So we see many many plants with overlapping usages or correspondence. And it may SEEM repetitive in an age where we can source pretty much whatever we want or need from the internet or from local stores that import herbs and spices.
White sage and palo santo are excellent examples, but we can also look at things that are closer to home. Consider, for instance, the humble peppercorn.
Native to the India, black pepper is one of the oldest known spices in the world, with usage records going back over 5000 years, and is a staple ingredient in most household spice cabinets. Even the blandest, most white-bread kitchens will at least have salt and pepper on hand, and pepper has a plethora of magical uses from protection to cleansing to fertility to warding off bad luck and malefic magic.
AND YET. Black pepper used to be the most expensive spice in the western world. Literally worth its' weight in gold in the ancient, classical, and medieval periods. It was used by physicians to treat a variety of digestive complaints and was believed to reverse the effects of certain poisons. It was so valuable, people used to pay their rent with it, much in the way that Roman soldiers once received salt as part of their wages. It wasn't until the Renaissance that black pepper started to be affordable for an average household as trade expanded and other substances like coffee, cocoa, and saffron gained in popularity.
So we might easily reach for a courtesy pepper packet for a quick banishing or protection ritual today, but that's not something the average medieval English peasant looking to ward off bad luck or keep evil spirits out of their house would have access to. But what they DID have was rowan trees. And we see many references in the folk magic of the British Isles to rowan boughs or rowan berries being using for protection, fertility, cleansing, and the warding-off of misfortune and magical harm.
So instead of going right for the white sage or palo santo, why not try smoke-cleansing with rosemary and bay leaf? They have the same magical properties and are much more affordable and readily available, plus that added bonus of, yanno, avoiding culturally appropriative or overharvested plants.
Anyway, point is, widespread availability is all well and good, but you'd be surprised just how much you can find in your own backyard and how useful it can be in your craft.

✨❤️ Attracting Love Spell ❤️✨
Creating a love spell can be a powerful way to manifest your desires and attract your ideal partner.
Tumblr media
Here are some steps to help you create your own love spell:
Ingredients:
🌹Rose petals
🌹Cinnamon
🌹Rose quartz crystal
🌹Red candle
🌹 Incense (jasmine, rose, or sandalwood)
Steps:
❤️ Begin by cleansing your space and yourself. You can use smudging herbs or burn the incense for this.
❤️ Set your intention: Before you begin any spell, it's important to know exactly what you want to manifest. Take some time to think about the kind of relationship you want to have and what qualities you'd like your ideal partner to possess.
❤️ Light the red candle and the incense.
❤️ Hold the rose quartz crystal in your hand and focus on your intention for love and passion.
❤️ Sprinkle the rose petals and cinnamon around the candle, forming a circle.
❤️ Visualize the energy of love and passion flowing into the circle and charging the ingredients.
❤️ Let the candle burn down completely, and let the incense continue to burn for as long as you like.
❤️ Thank the universe, your tools, and any deities or spirits you called upon for their assistance.
❤️ Close your circle or protective space.
Tumblr media
Remember, love spells should always be created with pure intentions and respect for free will. It's important to never try to manipulate or control someone else's feelings. Focus on manifesting love and happiness for yourself, and trust that the universe will guide you to the right partner.
With these steps, you can create a powerful and effective love spell that aligns with your personal intentions and desires. Best of luck in your magical endeavors!
