Requested: Anon
Request: Hihi!! First off all I hope you are having an excellent day / afternoon / night! May I request some headcanons of the hashiras seeing reader (who's also a hashira) as an older sibling figure (Gender Neutral if possible!)?? If it's possible all of them, if not that's alright! Please and thank you! ^^
A/N: This took far longer than I thought, sorry about that.
General
So for a little bit of context you have imitation breathing, which means that you can execute any other type of breathing after seeing it, you freaked out the others when they first met you because of it.
They all saw you as an older sibling even if you weren’t actually older than them, you joined before most of them and had been there with them and had yet to leave.
You were close with the master because of how long you had been a Hashira and you often spent time with him and he asked your opinion on a lot of things.
You were the one that was often called for a rescue mission when the Hashira needed help, you never really stayed in one place, you travelled around a lot so you were probably the closest to trouble at any given time.
They all loved you, none of them said a sincere bad thing about you, they might tease you from time to time but you honestly teased them just as much.
They each had their own way of greeting you but you made sure that you split your time with all of them otherwise there’d be complaints from everyone except for Giyu or Mitsuri.
There aren’t many outside of the Hashira that knew you, you were more like a phantom that the demon feared.
Mugen had fought you once and you both came away gravely injured, the upper moons knew of you and hated you and the lower moons had been killed by you on a few occasions and promptly replaced.
Now let’s get a little more personal.
Giyu Tomioka
🌊 Giyu is often the one to take a step back and wait for the other to finish whatever they wanted with you, he never thought that he was worth your time and you were likely going to have to seek him out to actually spend time with him. 🌊 This doesn’t mean that he doesn’t want to spend time with it’s just that his inferiority complex is acting up again. 🌊 That being said, once it’s just the two of you it’s easier to talk to him, he might still be quiet but you often talk to him and soon enough he’ll involve himself in your conversations. 🌊 If you tell him that you have an interest in something, if he comes across it on his travels he’ll pick it up and give it to you the next time that he sees you and he always remembers what versions of something that he got you, so you never end up with doubles. 🌊 Compliment his jacket, if you close enough he might even tell you what had happened then give him that jacket and from there you’ll realise that survivors guilt weighs on his mind. 🌊 Giyu is one of the youngest and yet acts like one of the oldest, so sometimes you have to remember that his view of the world would be different than yours and you explain the nature of friendships to him because he really doesn’t understand them. 🌊 When you were out on missions with Giyu, you often let him take the lead, you wanted him to be confident in himself, when he was on his own. 🌊 You were probably the only person he was confident in starting a conversation with and/or asking to spend time with. 🌊 You never missed a chance to stick up for him no matter what the others said, he was probably the one with beliefs closest to yours. You did agree with his choice for Nezuko and Tanjiro after all.

Obanai Iguro
🐍 Obanai was snarky as hell and was often sassing you in some way, you were never not hitting him upside the head for trying to start a fight with someone. 🐍 The rest of the Hashira watch with great amusement when you were both involved in arguing back and forth with each other neither one of you ready to admit defeat. 🐍 His snakes often wrapped around your arms or neck, so whenever they went missing he knew that you were around. Sometimes they’d even take your side in an argument, especially the argument about his feelings for Misturi. 🐍 You’ve told him on many occasions that he should just tell her how he felt but he kept denying that he felt anything at all. Which we all know is a lie so you teased him about it every chance that you got. 🐍 Your arguments with Obanai were strictly verbal considering the fact that you are physically better than him, he never tried to take past that. 🐍 Obanai spent a lot of his time trying to sneak up on you but it never worked, that was usually the greeting that you got from him. 🐍 When you were on a mission with Obanai you often took a step back to allow him to do his thing, you helped him where you needed to but for the most part it was his mission and he’d complete it. 🐍 You often rolled your eyes at his unrealistic expectations of others, he very rarely berated you because you very rarely came back with any injuries, that being said he was probably harsher on you than the others because you would fight back. The next time that he came back injured you were the first one to comment. 🐍 You were probably the only other person that he could stand spending time around without some kind of return and you were probably the only person that didn't get hurt by everything that he said.

Sanemi Shinazugawa
🌬 Sanemi treated people a certain way because of the way that he was treated which was why you were a little more gentle with him where you could be. There were times that called for you to be firmer with him but for the most part you tried to avoid clashing with him. 🌬 He learned to respect you after picking a fight he had no chance of winning, now he challenges you to fights to see how much he’s grown in the time that he hasn’t seen you. He literally greets you with a punch and there hasn’t been able to dodge yet. 🌬 You often told him off for the way that he treated his brother, you understood the way he felt about loss but that didn’t condone the way that he pushed his brother away and hurt his feelings. 🌬 Because of that you actually ended up spending a lot of time with Genya too, you made sure that he didn’t feel like it was his fault that his brother treated him the way that he did and honestly that made Sanemi kind of jealous sometimes. 🌬 Sanemi did ask you how Genya was getting on when you did see him because he refused to go anywhere need him. 🌬 You almost never agreed with the way that Sanemi went about things and even got angry with him at the meeting for the way that he handled Nezuko, you even put yourself between the box and his sword at one point. Which you got a mumbled apology for later. 🌬 You were often the mediator when he was on missions, he could be a bit harsh and sometimes he didn’t look before he leaped so you were the one to watch his back and maybe point him in a different direction. 🌬 Sanemi would never admit that he liked having you around but you biggest clue was that he never told you to go away and actually listened to a suggestion that you gave him every now and then.

Gyomei Himejima
🪨 Gyomei was the oldest of the bunch and the one that needed you the least, he’d spend time with you because he wanted to not and you were able to spend time with him because you wanted to not because you thought there was something that you could offer him. 🪨 You guys trained together all the time and by extension made each other way stronger than you would have been alone. 🪨 You were probably the only person that could keep up with him on a mission and with your breathing allowing you to copy his means that he didn’t have to worry about the strength that you possessed because it equaled his in most scenarios. 🪨 You were always there to make sure that he was okay, you comforted him when he cried no matter how small the issue that caused him pain was. 🪨 You engaged in prayer with him where you could and even asked him about his beliefs when you guys had the time to talk properly. 🪨 He warmed up to you easily but that was probably because you had been together for longer than any of the other Hashira, you both know things about each other that none of the others did. 🪨 You tried not to disrespect his beliefs or make his go against his principles and he knows that you're trying your best even going as far as offering to give the killing blow if it helps. 🪨 He’d often mindlessly talk to you about anything and everything, his voice was always soft and he encouraged you to give your views (which was probably why you knew so much about each other). 🪨 Gyomei was the one that you’d often spend time with when you had been through something taxing, he doesn't always need to talk or fight sometimes you can both sit there.

Muichiro Tokito
☁ Honestly for the longest time you didn’t know if he even knew who you were, he proved that he did one day when he mumbled your name in conversation. ☁ You were a little more protective of him though because he was the youngest of the Hashira, he was very good at looking after himself when he needed to. ☁ You would often be the one to relay information that he missed when his mind wondered, he’d often tug at your arm to point out a cloud as you half listened to the conversation so you wouldn’t both be lost. ☁ There would be times when he’d use you as a pillow and you’d never wake him, unless there was a mission you needed to go on or there was some kind of danger. ☁ It didn’t take long for you to realise that he didn’t put much stock in emotions, so when he talked he didn’t necessarily mean to hurt your feelings and you often had to defuse situations between him and the others. ☁ On missions you wouldn’t need to watch his back in the actual fight he was pretty good at doing that himself, it was in the moments that you were travelling from place to place or looking for information on the demon that you needed to be there. ☁ Sometimes you carried him to where he needed to go but that was faster than any other means of transportation. ☁ Muichiro would often use you to hide from conversations or interactions because the others were less likely to bother him when he was with you. ☁ He was more like an aloof little brother, you checked in more often with him to make sure that he was okay and worried that he’d get more lonely than the others so you hung around with him a little more than the others.

Kyojuro Rengoku
🔥 Bless this ray of sunshine, he’s probably the only one that actually asks how you're doing from time to time. 🔥 He respects you and treats you as such, he offers you food that he thinks is tasty and strongly advises that you taste it. You’d always accept what he gave you and compliment him on his tastes. 🔥 Rengoku would actually ask you for help when he needed it, as well as drag you into whatever stupid thing he and Tengen were getting up to that day, since you were the only one fast enough to keep up with them. 🔥 Rengoku was more than happy to introduce you to his brother who you became fast friends with. He made you promise that you’d look after Senjutro if anything happened to him. 🔥 That being said, you weren’t actually going to let something happen to him and that was why you went after him when Mitsuri said that she had a bad feeling, you ended up saving his ass when Akaza came calling (that was the day Muzan decided that you were a nuisance that needed getting rid of). 🔥 Rengoku holds you closer from there on, even going as far as introducing you to people as his sibling. 🔥 He’s usually the first to greet you and you always smile no matter how loud he’s being, took the time to learn and/or teach him sign language for stealth missions together or general secret keeping. 🔥 Rengoku was one of the older Hashira and yet ended up being one of the most childish so you spent a lot of time making sure that he was okay but he’s the one that you get the most reward from because he shows his gratitude for you.

Tengen Uzui
🔊 Tengen was the one that always successfully snuck up on you, you hated every moment of it but no matter how hard you tried he got you every time. 🔊 He would often challenge you to a race and you were the only person that could beat him, but that being said you were still in a rivalry and there was a scoreboard with the other Hashira had placed bets on. 🔊 Tengen actually tried to get you to be one of his wives which you denied, if only because your independence was important to you. 🔊 On that note his wives love you and when they can’t go on a mission they’ll send a message to you, to ask if you can keep an eye on him, which you had no problem doing. Though you had no problem looking out for them, Tengen would often send you a separate letter asking you to keep an eye on them while he was gone. 🔊 Tengen is forever jealous of the food Hina kept aside for you, the gift that Suma made for you or how Makio would always ask how you were doing after he came back from a mission. 🔊 They invite you for dinner all the time so when you are in the area you stop by and join them. 🔊 After getting word that Tengen’s wives had gone missing you were the one to save them from Daki, then promptly slapped Tengen around tha back of the head for putting 7 different people in harm's way before asking you for help (Zentsu and Inosuke were so confused, Tanjiro had to explain that you were a Hashira). 🔊 You help him beat Daki and Gyutaro. Gyutaro referred to you as the phantom which confused everyone but now that’s all that Tengen will call you. 🔊 Tengen is by far the loudest of the Hashira and the one you probably had to watch the closest because despite the fact that he was a trained shinobi and probably the fastest Hashira out there, he’d forgo all of that for a flashy entrance and that will be what gets him killed.

Shinobu Kocho
🦋 Shinobu was reluctant to actually treat you as a sibling, after what happened to her sister that part of her was closed off for two reasons. 🦋 The first fear and the second not wanting to replace the sister that she had already lost. 🦋 You never tried to replace her sister and you never pushed her to be more than she wanted with you so the relationship developed slowly. 🦋 She was probably the only one that you needed to earn the trust of but that happened over many injury treatments. 🦋 You really earned her trust when you got very badly injured for her and she spent months nursing you back to health, it was then that you told her about your relationship with her sister. 🦋 You often drew fire on missions with Shinobu, you knew that she worked better being about to get a knick in and most of the time, she was testing something new so you served to keep the demon alive long enough to see if whatever new poison she had developed worked, all while getting jabs at each others fighting skill or the fact that you gotten hit. 🦋 She’d often send you off with something new that she had developed because she knew that you’d stay alive long enough to report back to her. 🦋 You guys could spend hours talking about anything and everything, most of the time it was Shinobu talking through ways to treat wounds so that she was sure that you could make it back here to get properly treated. 🦋 You guys would often have sarcasm battles with large smiles on your face, anyone who saw them wouldn’t know if you guys were serious or not. 🦋 Your relationship was probably the closest to a love hate one, no one could tell whether you actually liked each other or not and that was for you to decide.

Mitsuri Kanroji
❤ Literally worries for you all the time, from the moment that she met you to the present day. ❤ Always wanted a sister, so it took literally no time at all for you to become close, she’d come to you whenever she felt like something bad was going to happen or when she needed encouragement. ❤ Girls nights happened often if you were both in the same place and that meant that she helped you with self care and you encouraged her to face the crush that she had on a certain snake hashira (never worked but you tried). ❤ You guys communicate with looks and in some cases noises, you’ll be able to tell what she’s thinking and send back a response that she understands completely. ❤ You watched her carefully when she felt strongly about something. Her health took a back seat sometimes, so you made sure that she ate properly and looked after herself especially when she felt guilty about something. ❤ You often found yourself telling her that she wasn’t a burden to you or any of the other Hashira. ❤ You two have so much fun when you are on a mission together, she likes that she has your full attention and there’s no one to hide from, she could be herself around you. ❤ As much as you both acted like siblings, the love that she felt from you reminded her of a parent and she wouldn’t change it for the world, being away from her family and the people that she grew up with, she likes that feeling that she gets from you.

Warnings : NSFW Oneshot of a head cannon I made. Smut with a dialogue.
Minor dni
Giyuu Tomioka x Hashira f!reader
Summary : The topic surfs up about your boyfriend Giyu being a virgin, even though the other hashira’s didn’t know his past. You began to have flashbacks about what it’s like to be in bed with him.
Notes : This was requested by someone but it won’t let me tag them. Sorry it took so long to write this, i was being lazy. I’m also really bad a writing smut so let me know if there are any problems. There was another person who also requested: @lakainamelolita
I don’t proofread fyi
You and Giyuu had a private relationship, it wasn’t because the both of you were scared of people finding out, but because it was better and easier that way.
The other hashira’s knew you two were close friends, but it never crossed their minds that you two were together romantically. Even though it was quite obvious the only person who thought you two were in a relationship was Sanemi. He shot his own thought down when he looked at Giyuu and then at you and said to himself “nah she’s not that stupid to date an idiot like that guy.”
How you guys started the relationship was weird, you two were strictly just friends with obvious feelings for eachother. Until one night out together you guys returned to your mansion drunk, and one thing lead to another and y’all had sex in one of the many rooms.
Both of you remember that night exactly from how it started to how it ended, that being your first time it was the best sex you’ve ever had. He was so gentle with you but yet still had you crying.
You assumed because you were close friends, it would be awkward so you started avoiding him. While you were working out one day he came to ask you why you were avoiding him and you being confused asked if he didn’t think it was awkward and he said no. So then boom friends again, then about 2 weeks after bloomed a relationship.
There was the annual Hashira gathering, this wasn’t a fancy event or anything it was just a usual thing you guys do just to keep up with eachother. You guys were just a big ol family that just stayed in eachothers lives.
While chatting, Tengen got the question about how sex works with his 3 wives. Does each girl get their own moment or is it just a foursome?
That question brought up a sex topic amongst the hashira’s just telling out their business because there isn’t a personal bubble around them. ( discluding Muichiro for obvious reasons.)
When Shinobu started talking she called out the fact that Giyuu has been quiet the entire time, then started saying “Are you quiet because you’re a virgin?” thus bringing about her calling him “Giyuu the virgin.”
Giyuu didn’t say anything, he just shook his head. As they were laughing about Giyuu being the only Virgin amongst them you started getting flashbacks.
When you and Giyuu were just friends, he told you about his back story. He was a quiet guy, but getting girls in bed was like a second nature to him. He told you about all his sexual experiences, the good ones and the bad ones. You were flabbergasted to find out this side to him. That proving the point “it’s always the quiet guys.”
He was such a slut and it wasn’t obvious until you were one of the girls to be in bed with him.
The day that you two made it official he swore on his life that no one will get in the middle of this relationship. You were the only girl he’s been interested in ever since he first met you. You were his dream girl and so very perfect for him. He even slit his wrist as his own way as a pinky promise. He didn’t know why he did it he just did for some reason.
That same night he wanted to prove to you that you had all of him. And he knew the best way to prove that. He initiated the first move, you knew what he wanted when he was kissing you and he started pushing you more into the bed than you already were.
Next thing you new he was taking off yours and his kimono. The first round he was simply making love to you, he was being gentle and he finger prepped to make sure you had no pain on your end. He slowly pushed himself in to make sure that you had time to adjust to his length and thickness.
His pace was slow but harsh, each thrust were hitting all the right spots so perfectly. The first round he was fucking you so lovingly. He had your fingers intertwined with his as he had your hands above your head. When you reached your orgasm he made sure to give you some time before he reached his own orgasm. Pulling out then cuming on your belly.
He caught you off guard when he used his fingers to scoop up his cum off your belly, then sticking it in your mouth. What caught you even more off guard is when he started pushing both of your legs to your chest hinting that there was going to be another round.
This time without warning he just penetrated you and you let out a little squeal at the sudden sensation. This time his thrusts weren’t slow, they were fast and rough. But because of the position you were in you couldn’t hear the sound of skin slapping, but there was definitely a sound.
His new pace had your head thrown all the way back and you gripping into the sheets. Your orgasm came faster than it did before, your eyes tearing up and sending you into a haze because you were already sensitive from your first orgasm.
when his came he once again came on your belly then scooped it up and stuck it in your mouth.
He randomly flipped you over on your hands and knees, arching your back and forcing your face into the pillow. He forcefully pushed himself into your hole this time and that got a loud moan from you. His pace was somehow faster than his pace from the second round.
This time you can hear the sound of skin slapping, he was so focused on making you feel good he didn’t even realize how much he was digging into the skin of your ass. Letting out small grunts as he watched you tear apart before him. It turned him on so much he started to pick up the pace.
You were like jelly in the palm of his hands, you were trying to tell him to slow down but you couldn’t make out full sentences. You started to cry at all the pleasure and then the pain when your orgasm started to arise. This was the third orgasm i’m the row and it was starting to hurt because you were so sensitive.
The sex was so good but it was the orgasm that had you crying beneath him. When you came you had blacked out for a second and then came back to reality when he asked for permission to cum inside of you.
This time you told him yes, and that he did. After both of you collapsed and you snuggled up next to him as he apologized and started kissing your forehead.
You said that the both of you should go and shower together and he agreed. The beginning of the shower was just a normal couples shower, until one thing happened and then another then a 4th round became in that shower.
You snapped out of your thoughts, clearing the flash back you just had when Giyuu touched your thigh. “You okay?” he was a tiny bit concerned on why you all of a sudden got so quiet.
You shook your head yes, but you had the reason for the quietness written all over your face. He couldn’t help but give you a small smirk.
He was happy to know that you knew who he really was and you being the only person in the room who’s got to experience it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Giyuu had been away for a few days on a mission, it has been the longest mission he was sent out on since the two of you got together. The day he came home, it was storming. The rain was coming down hard, soft thunder made sound through your quiet home. You had been curled up on the couch, watching it rain when the door slid open, revealing your love completely drenched.
“Ah! Giyuu!” You exclaimed excitedly with a gasp, running over to your beloved boyfriend and hugging him, not minding that your clothes were now getting wet.
“Y/n..” Giyuu huskily said, that made you look up at him before you could even process what was happening. The only thing you processed was your back hitting the wall, the pictures of you and Giyuu hanging on the wall made a thump sound, giyuu’s hand gently squeezing the sides of your neck. “Please..forgive my rudeness my love I just can’t handle it anymore..I’ve missed you so much..more than I can explain..” he starts before leaning down and capturing your lips with his. The kiss started out passionate, but once Giyuu moved his hand away from your neck, to under your shirt to play with your breasts, the kiss deepened. His tongue exploring every inch of your mouth. You could feel how desperate he was to touch every inch of you.
He pulled away, only to kiss down your jawline to your sweet spot on your neck, once he found it, he pulled on your nipple, making you let out a moan. “Your moans are always as beautiful as you are” he mumbles against your skin before going back to leaving a beautiful little hickey on your skin. Once he’s satisfied with his hickey, he moves onto the other side of your neck. His hand leaving your breast and traveling down to your pants, and sliding into both your pants and your panties. He pulled away from your neck, only to lock eyes with yours as he slid 2 fingers into your already wet cunt.
Your eyes rolled into the back of your skull as you threw your head back, mouth agape to let out another sweet moan. “Oh my god.” You whined.
“You’re so tight.” He said curling his fingers upwards to hit that spot that makes you see stars. You hold onto his wrist as moans escape your puffy lips. “You can hold onto my wrist as much as you want but I’m not stopping until you cum on my fingers.” He huskily says, scissoring his fingers into you, making your chest rise and fall faster than normal as your peak comes close.
“G-giyuu..” you moan out, trying to warn him that your about to cum. He bite his lip. “Don’t say my name like that you know what your voice does to me.”
As you go to say his name again, you tighten your grip onto his wrist as your orgasm washes over you. Giyuu’s fingers instantly being coated in your slick. He pulled them out, only to quickly clean them with his tongue. He grabbed your hand and quickly walked to your shared bedroom. Both his and your clothes ripped off the second you two stepped foot into the room. He softly threw you onto the bed, only to quickly crawl in between your legs. He once again locked eyes with you as he kitten licked your puffy clit.
Your legs shook, still sensitive from your previous orgasm. Giyuu wanted nothing more than to overstimulate you. His tongue going back and forth from your cunt to your clit, only to suck on your clit most of the time, making you cream.
Your thighs tight around giyuu’s face as he slurps up your cream before sucking hour clit once again. Your legs shake as you tighten your grip in the water hashira’s messy raven hair. “I’m going to cum” you manage to whine out between moans. In response, Giyuu only shoved his face more into your cunt, this time humming to add vibrations. With a gasp you came, Giyuu happily licked it up before standing up, and rubbing his cock between your slick folds.
Oh how it turned him on and fascinated him how wet you got for him. Your slick covering even a little bit of your thighs. Your cunt white with your cream mixed with giyuu’s precum. At times like these he hates having a sensitive tip, once he shoved it into your warm, wet, gummy tight walls, he let out a moan, already wanting to fill you up with his seed.
“Oh Giyuu” you moaned out, locking eyes with his. You felt his cock twitch inside of you, his face flushed red. If Giyuu didn’t feel like he could cum over your tight cunt, the sight in front of him made him want to. You laid in front of him, nipples perky, cheeks red, little droplets of sweat littered your skin. Your body trembled from being over sensitive, and your face showed how fucked out you were, along with how much pleasure you were feeling with his thick, veiny cock stretching your tight pussy out in the best way.
Giyuu pulled almost entirely out, only leaving his swollen angry mushroom tip inside, before roughly shoving his whole cock back inside, making both of you moan. His thrust were on the slower side, as he focused more on how deep he could go. “D-don’t look at me like that..don’t say my n-name like that you know what you do to me a-and I want to savor this moment” he said between grunts.
His pace began to speed up, making you leave rings of white cream on his cock before eventually completely coating his entire cock and balls with your cream. Your eyes traveled down to his abdomen that was completely coated in your slick.
“Giyuu you feel so fucking good oh Giyuu I want you to fill me up with your cum I want all of it please”
You watched Giyuu bite his lip before folding you into the mating press, his cock bullying the tip of your cervix.
Neither of you could warn the other as your orgasms washed over the two of you faster than either of you anticipated.
Giyuu’s cock twitching inside of you before he pulled out. Flipping you onto your side.
He captured your lips again before pulling back, his eyes going down to your cunt to watch a mixture of yours and his cum leaking out. Giyuu quickly pushed it back in with his once again hard cock. You let out a tired moan.
“Forgive me my love, but I’m not done yet. I want you to milk my cock.”
End🌊
Sorry for it being kinda short I hope y’all still enjoy 💙
𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐂𝐔𝐓 ! ᝰ 𝐆𝐈𝐘𝐔𝐔 𝐓𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐎𝐊𝐀
ᯓ☆ 𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒔 : i love love love giyuu so much and i just want to give him all the love in the world. based on how i finally got thinning shears and have never been happier so i combined the two. weird concept but i enjoyed writing it.
! 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 ¡ : mentions of depression !! may contain unhealthy hygiene habits and or unhealthy thoughts (brief s*icidal thought mention in the beginning) !! reader is referenced as from modern day era because i love this concept. this also might be really long.
𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒕 : hi sorry this IS very long actually thank you
Giyuu is depressed. It's not a weird phenomenon or something that people really need to think too hard about. He’s depressed and has been for a long, long time. Now in your eyes, you know that some of the other Hashira know that something is wrong. And as much as you love and appreciate the kind company of Mitsuri, Rengoku and Gyomei, sometimes you really dislike how they submit to the others when they begin to bad mouth him — behind his back and to his face.
He doesn’t take care of himself properly and it shows. It isn’t just that he has bags under his eyes that gives away that he's tired. Because he is. It’s the mix of tiredness and sadness that causes your heart to ache. His eyes express everything that he wants to say without having to say it at all. And if anyone had ever taken the time to really look at him, they would know. He looks tired of everyone and everything. He wants to go somewhere and never come back. It’s a shame a demon hadn’t killed him already, he feels. He wishes he could just die in a ditch, but that would be too good for him. But he can’t do that. Not to Sabito, not to his sister, and especially not to you.
You have been staying at his estate for months. He was surprised, like many of the other Hashira, that you have chosen him when given the choice. It had irked him at first and he wondered if this was some sick joke. But you moved in after being discharged from the Butterfly Mansion. You helped make breakfast, greeted him nicely in the morning, took the time to talk to him even if he didn't answer back. You often asked how his day was at the end of it. You thanked him too many times for him to count and Giyuu doesn’t remember being thanked this much. He doesn’t complain, but when you are more settled in as his estate being your new home he is much happier that the thanking has stopped. You didn’t invade his space disastrously, you were considerate of him and respectful. And even though he will never find himself good enough, he couldn’t say no to you when you wanted him to train you. Nothing crazy, just enough to defend yourself as you were indefinitely a long way away from home.
It really shouldn’t have come to a surprise to him that you figured out his tricks, his excuses. It wasn’t that he had ever tried to hide the fact that he wasn’t really caring for himself. No one would have noticed anyway and even if they did, they wouldn’t concern themselves too much with it. But you, on the other hand, were always keeping an eye on him closer than most. And sure there were many ways that he wasn’t taking care of himself that he could easily hide away from you if he was so adamant about it. But the one thing he couldn’t hide, from you at least, was his hair.
His hair is matted, and Giyuu will swear up and down that he does brush it. But that's a lie and you know it. He doesn’t have the motivation to sit there, whether it be in the morning or after a mission, to brush through all the knots and tangles. He's lucky he can manage enough energy to sit there in the bath till the water gets cold thinking about his life choices. But that's it. He’ll tell himself that he will wash his hair tomorrow, that he will deal with detangling it then too. He can’t even fathom doing anything else. The idea of taking the hair tie out almost makes him nauseous.
You notice this after a while. At first, you assume it's because of a mission. He lies too, and agrees. It's the easiest excuse he can come up with to keep you from worrying. Yeah, after a lengthy scuffle with a demon, it would have been safe to assume that his hair was going to get messed up. But then you notice it looks the same every time after that, even on days where he isn't being sent out. His hair looks half heartedly brushed on the top, to hide the knots probably pulling at his scalp. After staying with Giyuu for so long, you felt comfortable enough to try and help him, because you didn’t know how much longer you could watch this go on.
So here you are in Giyuu’s room. You didn’t have to plead with him too much, he had no energy to tell you that you didn’t need to. That you had no obligation to him just because you were living there. At this point, he couldn’t help but be a little selfish and grateful that an angel like you had come to save him.
On his futon, you’re taking your place behind him. He sits in between your legs. You comb and brush his hair after you had to cut the hair tie out. That's okay, you tell him. You can have one of mine, I have so many.
Your touch is so gentle and nice and Giyuu doesn’t know what to do. He almost wants to cry, honestly. Even as you take your time going through the jungle that is his hair, trying to preserve as many strands as you can. It’s taking hours, not that you mind. It’s bad and it was obvious that it was going to take a while anyway. But Giyuu can’t help feeling guilty. He knows that you offered, that it was your choice to help him, but it's late at night and you should be sleeping. Not sacrificing your time and energy on him.
However, every ounce of your touch is comforting. Even as you hit a knot. It should hurt. But it doesn’t. It can’t. Not when all he can feel is the lovely, tingly sensation that's flooding his body and mind. You even take the time to talk to him, filling the silence with your sultry voice. If it weren’t for that, he would have fallen asleep by now.
You talk to him about his hair, getting an idea of what to do. Because you can’t just leave his hair like this. As more time goes on and more clumps of hair start surrounding the sides of the futon, you realize you are going to have to cut his hair. The more the hairs start smoothing out, you see how uneven it is. One side is now longer than the other. He doesn’t want to cut all his hair off. He doesn’t want it short. He doesn’t think he can handle it being that short. Even if the change might do him some good, it’s still too much change. And you aren’t going to do anything that he doesn’t want you to.
So you suggest a clean up. You’re going to try and fix it up without cutting it too short. So afterwards, when you give one final brush through his hair, it's time to start. And Giyuu is sad? Maybe. He misses your hands in his hair a little too much. But the way you softly guide him to where his back is facing the edge of the futon. Oh boy. He knows that it really isn’t the best suited place to cut hair, but he trusts you. You are very meticulous in everything you do and very determined — happy, mind you — but determined nonetheless to finish this little project you started with him.
It really doesn’t take that long to cut it into shape. Giyuus hair is beautifully thick and after the trim, his curly waves are starting to shape up just a little bit. But something is missing. Sure, you could just tell him that you're done. Giyuu wouldn’t argue or complain. In fact, he probably would be on his knees thanking you for the tiniest bit of care. But that isn’t what you’re about to do.
Giyuu, for the first time that night, is calm. And the way you softly lean over the side of the futon to your bag and grab the thinning shears, Giyuu begins to feel something deep within himself. Perhaps it's a nice burst of anticipation. He feels tingly and happy. Giyuu heard you mention the shears before. He had never seen you use them, mainly because he had never been within his estate when you’ve decided to do so. But that doesn’t really matter.
You took the time to explain the scissors to him. Even if he already had an idea of what they were used for.
“These thinning scissors take off a lot of weight and make everything so much smoother. I don’t like my hair ending abruptly, especially if it's a bit below shoulder length. So, I’m going to smooth your hair out on the bottom so it matches this little bit over here. Okay? Okay.”
You continue to talk a little bit after that, but Giyuu doesn’t register any of it. You're doing so much for him now, almost too much. Undeservingly too much, but he doesn’t dare say a word. He just relishes in the light touch at the tips of his hair by your hand. He can feel the gentle touches at the end of his hair along his back. After taking the time to be so considerate for him he would’ve let you do whatever you wanted. And that’s what makes him feel even more. He can’t describe the feeling. But, he knows that even if he were to say that to you – that you could do whatever you wanted – you would have told him absolutely not because it was his body, his hair, his choice and it made him so humble: so comforted.
You are back behind him, standing on your knees hard at work. The gentle, soft touches had him melting and wondering what he did to deserve someone as sweet and considerate as you. Every so often you were touching the side of his face. He guessed you were fixing his bangs and the hair that framed his face, so it would match. Yes, that’s exactly what it was because you explained it to him in that beautiful, sultry voice that made it hard to focus on anything else.
And when you were done he was almost disappointed. Your touch was still buzzing along his nerves and he was desperate for attention again.
“Okay, all done.” You murmured softly to him. It was so painfully obvious that he is in some sort of bliss and you didn’t want to startle him out of it. “Go ahead and see how it looks and feels. Tell me how it is.”
You handed him a mirror and honestly, Giyuu was surprised that he was staring at himself. He looked clean? Sure, his hair was greasy. He hadn’t washed it in days and you had never once judged him for that. You had said that you’d help him with it after you cut it, so that it felt extra clean and all the little hairs from cutting would come out too.
He ran his fingers through his hair and it was so smooth.
Maybe it was smoother than you had explained or maybe it was because he combed his fingers through the entirety of his scalp, rather than just his bangs and a few pieces of caught out hair. His ends were light and feathery? The bottoms of his hair flowed nicely and now he understood what you were trying to do.
You're ushering him into the bathroom. You have to clean his futon now because you have to change the sheets. You were absent minded about it, but you were going to have to change it anyway. Giyuu hadn’t been taking care of himself obviously, that meant he hadn’t changed the sheets off of it in a while. Now you seriously had to given the fresh layer of hair covering his bed.
You did this quickly, changing the futon covers out with new ones, not stalling for time to help Giyuu wash his hair. Giyuu hadn’t even realized you would have to wash the futon tomorrow, that wasn’t a task for tonight. But by the time he’s in the water you’ve already done what you needed to do in his room and now your hands were back in his hair.
You scrub his hair and lather the shampoo, and for the thousandth time that night he wonders just how lucky he is. He wonders who allowed him to have this. Who allowed him to experience such love and care.
Now he’s tired, so incredibly tired that he really doesn’t know what to do. Well, no that isn't very true, he knows exactly what to do. Absolutely nothing. He’s out of the bath and in bed momentarily. No time was wasted. He can barely keep his eyes open by now. The futon is fresh and he’s in his sleeping clothes. He’s laying on top of you as if he were a warm blanket. He thinks, oh so briefly, about moving. You might get uncomfortable or sweat or get crushed by him during the night. But then that thought went away quickly. Faded away, never to return because you are running your fingers through his hair still.
It's like a reward at this point. He feels the need to be thanking you profusely, but he can barely utter a sound. If he were a dog, his tail would probably be wagging violently. No matter how long you’ve been together he is still touch starved. Sometimes he doesn’t allow himself the opportunity or luxury of you. You're too good for him – he doesn’t think he will ever stop thinking about it. But you’re patient with him and it makes his heart whole.
"Would you care to be my lover?"
Tumblr media
In which, Giyuu almost dies and is afraid to rest without knowing whether or not you would still love him if he passed away. He doesn't want you to forget him and he wants you to know that he loves you more than he thought he ever could.
Giyu didn't think that he was afraid to die
He never had been.
After all, it was just the natural order of things to die was it not?
So what was the point in trying to avoid it?
At least that's what he had kept telling himself. But ever since he met you... It's been rather difficult to understand anything in a reasonable light.
He also fell for you the moment that he set his eyes on you. Of course he didn't know that, but he found out later.
You were a Hashira and you kept yourself so undetected that barely anyone even knew you.
When he first noticed you, his intention weren't to be rude when he had asked who you were.
For some reason, he was desperate to know who you were, like it was something he needed.
He only received a small smile and later he realized that you had been a hashira for almost ten years.
You had been a hashira before he was even a demon slayer.
Apparently you didn't mind that he didn't know, or that he was the only Hashira to know you were alive at the moment.
Apparently this had happened multiple times where you would be in a room with everyone else and listen in without actually conversing or interacting with the others.
Apparently you literally stood next to him every single meeting with the master and he hadn't even noticed once.
But how? You were always there so how come he didn't feel any sort of familiarity around you?
He felt almost guilty, he didn't know what to do.
And yet here he was, watching as you sat down under a tree at your estate. You were just closing your eyes in quiet, nostalgic peace. He was still so confused and intrigued at the same time.
He had even asked the other Hashira and demon slayers, trying to figure more about you only get answers of 'who are you talking about?' Or 'I don't know'.
Shinobu of course had to make fun of him for such pretending, after all, it didn't seem like you were even a real person.
So no one believed that there was another Hashira, and Giyu didn't bother anyone about it.
Except for the master.
The master knew who you were, thank goodness, it made Giyu feel less stupid. He seemed happy about hearing your name come from a hashira and he seemed proud of Giyu for noticing in the first place.
You were a very quiet and reserved person, yet your fighting style involved words.
Basically, your breathing technique helped you tap into frequency, which in turn, gave you the power to control frequency and what people heard.
So technically, you had been staying undetected on purpose, using the breathing style to control the frequency your own body gave off.
Although, you must have slipped up when Giyuu actually noticed you, you wonder how that happened.
Giyu's still baffled about your existence and has no idea what to do about it.
"Try and get close to her, she is a stoic and indifferent person like you. However, she has no one to talk to besides me and she doesn't like to burden people. She denies it but she needs to find a companion and you happen to be the first hashira to notice her."
Those were the words of his master, Kagaya Ubuyashiki. But the question was, how was he supposed to be around you if you were like him?
Even he knew how hard it was to be around himself so how much harder would it be to be around you, especially if you didn't want anyone around you to begin with?
It's not like that was going to stop him though. Whether the master had told him to talk to you didn't matter because he would have done it anyway.
"Hello..." Giyu greeted you, feeling uneasy as he approached you. All he did in that moment was stand in front of you like a lost dog.
You were pretty sure that he would have forgotten you in due time but instead he had decided to talk to you again. It was cute.
Maybe you could afford to indulge him.
"Hi." You plainly replied, watching as Giyu decided to sit next to you under the tree. Giyu seemed nervous, like he didn't want to make a bad impression but at the same time he looked like he would smack you if you insulted him.
What a strange look to such a young man.
"So... How was your day?" He asks, looking ahead of him and trying to control his breathing. He didn't like how strange he felt, but he wasn't sure if it was from your breathing technique or from him being so nervous.
"My day was fine... How about yours?"
"Good... My day was good." Giyu continues, not really sure what else to say. This was a good way to start a conversation right?
"Good, that's nice."
"Yes... Well... Your hair looks nice." He's being very gentlemanly he thinks, that is a good thing when talking to women right?
"... Thank you..."
"You're welcome."
Damn, you weren't making this easy for him. You felt like such a kind and gentle person and he didn't understand why you wouldn't want to be seen.
Then again, people had their choices and he respected that, however he wanted to get to know you without feeling like he was being so pushy.
"Why are you like this?" Giyu questions, finally looking at you with a straight face only to receive a confused glare from you.
"Pardon?"
Crap, he didn't mean to offend you.
"Sorry... I just mean... Well... Why do you hide yourself from everyone else?"
"... Oh." Was all you said, not answering his question for some time before looking up at the sky.
"I don't like to cry."
Now you just confused him even more than before.
"... Cry? What do you mean?" He asks, keeping his gaze on your face. You look very pretty to him and he wonders how he hadn't seen you before even with your breathing technique.
"I don't want to get too close to people and have them die because I wasn't strong enough." You start, making eye contact with him in hopes he would understand.
"I don't want anyone to have to cry when I die either. Death only brings pain and familiarity only breeds contempt. So I guess you can say that I am running from reality."
"So you would rather have someone not know you existed so that they don't cry about your death?" Giyu asks, feeling less confused but more sad. He had thought about stuff like this very little but clearly you thought about it all the time.
"Yes, I don't like to cry."
For quite some time, the two of you stay quiet, just sitting under the tree and enjoying the silence. Of course you were enjoying the silence, Giyu thought you were crazy.
As much as Giyu had taken a liking to you in such a short amount of time, Giyu couldn't decide whether or not to label you as a psychopath, depressed or a high functioning sociopath.
You were willing to disappear for yourself and others as if you weren't alive. And yet, he didn't understand why you would avoid the inevitable.
"Do you not have anyone?"
"I have our master..." You comment, smiling at the thought of Kagaya since he was someone who had allowed you to be where you were today. He was like a father to you.
"Anyone else?"
"... No."
Giyu stayed quiet again, thinking of something before sighing and standing up.
"Let me then."
"... What?" You ask, confused at what he said.
"Let me be that other person."
You watch him as he stands his ground, clearly serious about what he said. He wants to be around you, to make sure you're okay and he could care less whether it was selfless or selfish of him to ask.
"Why? You don't know me."
"I want to know you... Here."
Giyu pulls out a few questionable things from his mismatched haori, he seemed to be looking for something specific and it was making you slightly nervous since he shouldn't really be carrying a bunch of... Rope. Why did he have that much rope?
Finally he pulls out a small ribbon and starts tying it around his wrist, why? You have no damn clue.
"Whenever you enter a room that I'm in, you should pull on this, that way I know you're there." He starts, grabbing his other items including the rope and placing them back in his haori.
"Why?" You ask, scratching the back of your head in slight annoyance. You didn't want him to try so hard, otherwise he wouldn't forget about you.
"Because I want to know when you're around me so I can be your acquaintance."
"You don't have to worry, I don't feel lonely or anything like that."
"That's fine, I just want to know when you're there."
"But-"
"I insist... I will not try to fix you nor will I make you cry, but I would like to at least be a companion for you to talk to."
For some reason his words made you feel warm, like he meant them. You didn't know why he wanted that, but it was sweet and scary at the same time.
You weren't sure if you liked it or not but as far as you were concerned, this was something that you shouldn't allow.
After all, he might die and then you might end up crying.
Or the other way around... You don't want him to cry because of you.
Then again.
Maybe you could afford to indulge him a little bit longer.
What's the harm in that when he would eventually forget you anyway?
"Okay."
"Alright then."
This went on for months, you pulling on that stupid ribbon like he asked you to so that he would know you were there.
The two of you have now become acquainted and maybe even close to friends. However you don't know what to do with yourself.
You taught him things about you, your breathing technique and the way you fought while Giyu taught you about his own and even a bit of his past.
You felt stupid and you didn't like the unfamiliar feeling of getting so close to someone like you have with Giyu. You didn't like the feeling you had when you thought about him.
You didn't like it...
You hated it...
You hated it so much...
But you liked it at the same time...
Oh, how you loved it, but that's what scared you the most.
Because if you loved it, that would mean that you loved him.
He was supposed to forget you but he didn't, you just ended up coming on his mind more often.
Eventually you got used to it and even felt more comfortable about it. Eventually he didn't even need you to pull the ribbon for him to know you were in the room.
But he still wore the tiny, red cloth. A stupid ribbon that made your heart flutter every time you saw it.
It seemed like he could faintly feel the change when you were around.
You still didn't like it and yet you felt very special to have someone like Giyu care enough about wanting to know you.
Why couldn't you make up your damn mind?
Not only that, if you think you're the one having a hard time with this, take an actual look at Giyu for once in your life.
He's always gentle around you and yet his hands get all sweaty and he clams up. He doesn't remember feeling this way around you before, he just remembers being nervous, not sweaty and lightheaded. He doesn't remember getting vivid fascinations of you in his mind.
He can't tell if it's the feeling of just doing a drug or of absolute distress. He likes being around you but he's so nervous at the same time. He can't help but act differently around you than the other Hashira. He wanted to desperately kiss you and he had never wanted to kiss anyone else before.
It was almost as if he had a crush on you but there was no way to determine that. Even with all the scrolls he read on the topic in hopes to explain what he was feeling.
He didn't like this feeling of his chest tightening and his face brightening up. Most of the Hashira could even see the change in Giyu, how he looked more happy, even with his neutral face.
What made it worse was the thoughts he had about you. His frantic fantasies about you being closer to him, being with him in ways he wouldn't utter. He prayed that this was just love and not lust but he couldn't tell.
He had even tried to talk to Kagaya about it, but he had just dismissed him with a laugh, saying that he would get used to it over time and that it was an experience to try and keep.
And Giyu had to make it worse by being bold one day and kissing your cheek after you had come back from the Swordsmith village.
That was a fun and welcoming surprise for you which only clarified how you felt about him. Unfortunately it made Giyu want to hide in a corner for the rest of his life right after.
This is why no one likes him he's sure, he's weird and thinks things that he shouldn't about other women. Then again, he's never thought about it with another woman besides you.
Everyone was sure that he was a lonely weirdo that wouldn't find anyone. Maybe he would.
Mitsuri, Rengoku and Uzui are sure he is in love even though they didn't know who it was. Sanemi and Obanai just think he's high, either way he likes it.
He likes it...
He's sure he likes it...
He likes it so much.... Maybe too much
But he doesn't at the same time...
He loves it, but that's what scares him...
It scares him because that would mean that he has fallen for you.
He has fallen for you hard.
He loves you.
The two of you fell in love too fast and now you might as well start courting.
I mean, what else are you going to do?
The real problem was the fact that you didn't want to be emotional and Giyu didn't want to cause you pain if anything were to happen.
Yet he couldn't help himself when he wanted to be around you. It made him feel alive and he wasn't sure what to do.
So that's how he finds himself almost a year later.
He's in fear of his life because he almost died on a mission and the impending love he had for you about to explode his heart wasn't helping either.
All he knew is that he had to get to you, he had to tell you everything. Whether or not he ruined the relationship or was healed yet.
He fought against the Kakushi to get out of the butterfly mansion, not caring if he would hurt himself more.
Aoi tried to stop him and he wasn't trying to be rude, he was just a man on a mission and the fact of the matter is that he could care less.
He even scared Shinobu when she watched him walk out of the mansion. She tried to tell him to rest but if she was being honest, there was no real point in trying when he was moving so fast.
When Giyu finally found you standing outside and looking at the red, cloud-filled sunset, he tried to give a small smile but even that couldn't mask the weariness that showed on his face.
Despite how tired he was, he wanted to see you first, before even allowing himself to rest. He wouldn't rest, not yet.
It seemed that his feelings for you were so strong that even the exhaustion and pain he had just experienced wouldn't stand in the way of confirming something that he desperately needed to know.
"Giyu? Aren't you supposed to be healing at the butterfly mansion?" You ask in surprise as you watch him walk towards him. You were nervous cause here he was, trying to walk around in your house like a normal person.
Not that Giyu wasn't strong because he was and you loved seeing him when he was around, but he needed his rest and he deserved it.
You had listened into a conversation that Gyomei was having with Mitsuri. He was saying that Giyu was going to be taken to the butterfly mansion for healing even though he could still stand and walk around when the clean up crew found him.
Giyu was taken back by your concern, but he quickly hid it behind his usual calm demeanor. It seemed out of character for him to show any kind of vulnerability. Not that he wasn't going to show it eventually.
"I was at the butterfly mansion for healing, but I wanted to see you first, and check on you." His voice was slightly hoarse from the amount of screaming he probably did on his mission.
"How have you been? Are you doing alright?" Giyu inquired, hoping to see some sign of affection from you.
"I'm fine, thank you." You responded with a small smile, flattered that he wanted to check on you to make sure that you were okay. The funny thing was the fact that he was the one that almost died.
"You shouldn't be walking around like this when you're injured." You continued, standing still for a moment before looking at his hand.
Hesitantly, you softly grab a hold of his hand and meticulously massaging his palm. Your thought was that would make him feel better.
As far as he was concerned, all the heat in his body went straight to his... Cock?
Lord have mercy. No way in hell was Giyu going to even allow that to interfere with anything, at least not yet.
Giyu didn't expect you to be so gentle with him, yet he welcomed the gesture. He always kept others at arm's length, but with you, he couldn't help but find himself comfortable enough with your touched.
That’s probably why he suddenly got all hard.
He smiled at your concern, not yet accepting that he could be this vulnerable and dependent.
"I'm okay, it's really nothing." Giyu said, trying to downplay the seriousness of his mission.
"I'm just glad you're alright." He whispered softly.
You nodded your head, not looking at him and keeping your gaze focused on his hand. You knew that he was lying and not only was he injured, he was so stressed out that you could feel it in his hands and arms.
"You must be tired." Was all you said as you started to massage his fingers and then slowly up his arm. You felt bad for him since he looked so tired and the fact that he wanted to see you in this state was almost romantic. It was definitely cute.
Giyu's pride wouldn't allow him to accept any help, but he also knew that deep down he needed your comfort and reassurance. As you continued to massage his hands and arm, he found himself wanting to return the gesture.
When he finally looked at you, he found it hard to speak. The expression on your face made him feel butterflies in his stomach. In that moment, he could only think of how lucky he was to know such a lovely woman. As he looked up at you, he gently pulled you closer.
He's so glad that you slipped up on your breathing technique, otherwise he still wouldn't know you.
"I don't feel so tired anymore." He whispered, clearly knowing what to do even though he had no clue what to do. This must have all been from instinct because he had no experience in this.
"No?" You ask him, allowing him to pull you closer to him. Whether it was an attempt for a hug or something more you didn't know but you felt comfortable. Although you had a feeling he was trying to initiate something.
"Why aren't you tired anymore?" You continue, being just as gentle with his other hand as you were with the last one you massaged.
Giyu pulled you even closer, his face just inches away from yours. A small but tired smile spread across his lips as he began to answer your question.
"Because you're here, and I want to stop beating around the bush."
He looked into your eyes with an intensity that seemed almost animalistic. He wanted to show you how special you were to him, and what better way than to express it physically.
He was going to love on you... Not like that though, he was just going to kiss you until you yell at him to stop.
At least, in his mind it seemed like a good idea, although it may have just been from your physical touch but he was absolutely sure he loved you.
"... Well have you eaten anything recently?" You ask as he slowly buried his head in the crook of your neck.
You felt flattered, you felt more than flattered. You and Giyu both had been courting in a way and it was quite obvious that the two of you liked each other. Even so, you didn't really know what else to do.
Giyu nuzzled your neck before answering you, his words mixed with soft chuckles of affection.
"No, I haven't had anything to eat yet." He admitted.
"You should eat."
"I'll eat later, it can wait."
You both had been so busy with Hashira work and beating around the bush that romance had been pushed to the side. Now that the two of you had time, it was time that you both dealt with your feelings. He wasn't going to let you go without at least talking to you about how he felt.
"I was worried I wouldn't make it back... I was... I was so scared" Giyu confessed, his head still resting on your shoulder. "But I... I very much like you, I think... That I love you. So I wanted to come back to tell you that."
"... You... Do you really love me?" You ask, wanting to hear him say it again. Maybe you should have paid more attention to your mother when she said that you'll experience a love like this.
"Yes... I believe I love you more than anything, and I was scared of leaving without you knowing that. I don't know why, but I thought of you and I was so scared... I didn't know what to do, I know I love you."
"... Thank you." You respond, placing your hand on top of his head as Giyu kisses your cheek. He had kissed you once but hadn't given you a kiss since then.
"I missed you, I was hoping that you would be okay so that I could see you again." You comment with a small but warm smile. Even though you could be naive sometimes, clearly he was confessing to you. "I... I love you too... Maybe I should have said that sooner."
As the moment became more intimate, Giyu knew that he couldn't handle not kissing you anymore.
Looking up at you with eyes that were full of affection and adoration, he moved his face up to touch yours. Your lips made contact with each other as Giyu's hand moved behind your head, his thumb slowly caressing you.
He was sure that he loved you, it couldn't be just lust because if it was, he wouldn't have thought about you when he almost encountered his death bed.
"Thank you for always being there for me." Giyu whispered as he lost himself in a moment that he had never felt before.
Giyu was feeling dumb, filled with color and emotion while you happened to be hyper aware. Maybe this was a good thing, a small amount of love could go a long way in a short amount of time.
"You're welcome." You mumbled, letting Giyu kiss your forehead before giving you a small kiss on your nose.
Heck, he could marry you right now and he wouldn't mind. In fact, he would love that.
You leaned in, kissing him and not knowing where to put your hands before finally deciding to let them hold onto Giyu's haori
Giyu had no time to feel lightheaded and embarrassed, he wasn't prepared but he wasn't going to hold off.
He loved you, and he knew that. He also knew that you must have loved him if you had kissed him back. The two of you weren't acquaintances or friends anymore.
He would be so happy if you would care to be his lover and maybe in the future, his wife.
...
"We'll be prepared, I'm sure since-" Tanjiro quickly stopped, looking at the sight of Giyu and a woman he did not recognize.
It was very cute and Tanjiro couldn't help but smile at the lovingness that Giyu seemed to show the female.
Tanjiro would have left to give the couple privacy if he hadn't been walking with both Muichiro and Genya.
"Who is that?" Muichiro asks, gazing at the woman while trying his absolute best not to smile at the romantic sight.
"Whatever, let's just go!" Genya yells, clearly embarrassed by the whole thing.
"Shh! Don't yell Genya!"
"It seems like a beautiful demon slayer has caught the attention of a Water Hashira." Muichiro starts, pretending to be the invisible narrator in some unknown story while being way too flamboyant.
"Seriously?"
"Oh c'mon Genya, have some fun."
"Let's give the two some privacy." Tanjiro comments, chuckling as the three of them walk off.
Tanjiro and the rest were apparently wrong. It seemed like Giyu wouldn't be alone for the rest of his life, and Tanjiro was happy for him.
Demon Slayer masterlist | Main masterlist
Tumblr media
Kyojuro Rengoku
He’s heard of a special case of someone who’s just like Nezuko, and he was of course curious and went to find you
He’s heard how childish Nezuko was and he’s also seen how resilient she was towards eating humans so if she was okay then he assumed you were okay as well
But even then, he was still wary on meeting you and thought you could’ve still been a danger but that quickly went away went he saw you helping the three triplets at the butterfly estate and how gentle you were towards them
It was just unfortunate that you were turned demon and the next day he went to see you again and had a conversation with you and found out you’ve never wanted to hurt a human and you just wanted to help out even if others were still afraid of you
He found you admirable and imagined on how you would act with his little brother and maybe even children considering you were only half demon. Seeing how gentle you were the triplets, he couldn’t help but blush at the thought of you taking care of his brother.
He promised himself to protect you and help Tanjiro find a cure, you helped him see demons in a different light, some were just unfortunately turned demons just like you and that red headed boys sister
Tumblr media
Giyuu Tomioka
He’s heard of you but didn’t really care much, you were just like Tanjiros sister and if master trusted that you wouldn’t hurt anyone like Nezuko, then he didn’t care much about you
It was until he saw you and how you interacted with Tanjiro and Nezuko, Tanjiro wanted to meet with Giyuu and when Giyuu peeked over into the room and saw gentle you treated a small wound on Tanjiros arm and acted like it was some horrible wound while Nezuko layed down happily on your lap and made grabby hands at you because she wanted your attention
You acted like a parental figure towards them as you scolded the poor maroon haired boy for getting hurt
You were so caring, it made Giyuu heart melt at the sight and ever since that day he’s asked Tanjiro about and has made it his mission to “accidentally”meet with you so he can start a conversation
Carrying a tray of food to take to master? Giyuu is already on the path hoping to talk to you on the way even though he doesn’t have a reason to head over the masters estate
Each time he talked to you, he felt his heart flutter and felt so warm. Tanjiro of course noticed Giyuus lingering eyes towards you and had the idea on him, Nezuko, Giyuu, and you to hang out and have tea together to help out Giyuu and be his unofficial wingman
Giyuu couldn’t be any more thankful as each time he talked to you, he felt his smile grow every time. You were a treasure to him and he hoped to save you from this wretched curse one day
Tumblr media
Uzui Tengen
He was curious from the start and was dead set on meeting you. First the bamboo girl and now you? Just how many were there?!
He expected you to be unflamboyant, uninteresting, and to be honest, ugly. I mean how flamboyant can a demon be? He found out they can be very flamboyant and very attractive and you were a prime example of that!
You left him shocked for a moment before he recollected himself and immediately went over to you and talk to you. You were just the most attractive and flamboyant thing in his eyes other than him and his 3 wives
Speaking of his wives, he wasn’t at all unfamiliar of the warm feeling inside him whenever he talked to you because of his wives. He knew he was developing feelings for you and felt conflicted about it but after having a talk with his wives, they were all on board with talking to you
They all felt so warm talking to you, you were kind to them. Uzui figured you were just a poor soul who was unflamboyant-ly turned into a weird half demon! He was a lot more gentler towards Tanjiro and his sister because of you
He can’t imagine being so rude to someone who’s suffering the same fate as you and promises himself to one day save you (in flamboyant fashion of course!)
Unspoken affection | {SaneGiyuu}
Tumblr media
Theme: FLUFF
Note: i, for the first time, will see if I can try writing this as if it wasn't a oneshot meaning they won't already like each other bc it'll end up like 3 words if they do
A sprinkle of ObaMitsu
I started this Feb. 23, apparently 😭 mar.29 when i finished ;;
×××
Giyuu had been one of the first Hashira. The third, in fact. After Tengen and Gyomei.
He gotten along well with them, although... 'getting along' were relative words. More so, they tolerated each other. Giyuu didn't really talk much, opted to stay silent. Gyomei was comfortable with that and Tengen appeared not to mind because, though he was very talkative, he preferred when it was quieter as his hearing was sensitive.
So, Giyuu got along with the Hashira, mostly. Kanae came along sometime later. She was very cheerful and the polar opposite of Giyuu, but she was kind and didn't mind his quietness. He found that he didn't mind her presence much, albeit he still acted the same.
And then Sanemi arrived.
He was like the disruption of the peace created within the Hashira. It was irritating.
When he went to his first meeting, he had erupted in anger at Kagaya and had been shouting at him. It was loud. And then, after the meeting had ended, the other Hashira had berated him for this.
Giyuu had stood by the side, deciding not to meddle with Sanemi. If he was always going to be an... explosive pomeranian, Giyuu should steer clear from this man.
Which was what he did. Mostly.
But it became obvious that it wouldn't be very easy when Sanemi decided to start bothering Giyuu, pestering him about being so quiet and unanswering. Normally, Giyuu would've ignored these irksome questions, but Sanemi was annoyingly persistant. And so, so very loud. Which was why he worked up the courage to respond, only to be talked over.
And thus began Giyuu's hate for Sanemi.
×××
When Sanemi had first become a Hashira, he had found himself in an almost feverish state. He was constantly tired and worked almost like a robot, doing things as if he had been programmed to. There were few times he felt like he could escape that, feel actually human again.
He found anger was a nice fuel of humanity to him, so he took it out on others, reveling at the feeling of temporary normalcy that came with it. It went away quickly and silence often brought back his numb, robotic state back, so he snapped at nearly everybody, making himself rather loathed personality-wise.
He didn't mind, not really. The only person he could care about what they thought of him was Masachika. And he was dead. So it really did not matter.
There was one Hashira whom he had decided to bother more than the others. Giyuu Tomioka, the Water Hashira. He was a really quiet person, rarely responding or speaking unless necessary. Because of Giyuu's ignorance, Sanemi found himself hovering around him more, feeling almost refreshed when immediate mirrored anger wasn't repelled back at him. It was annoying, of course. But annoyance meant he could feel. And feeling meant being... as okay as he could be.
Giyuu spoke only a couple times to him in response. Four, to be exact. His voice was quiet and collected, but a hint of irritation could be detected if you really paid attention. He was an interesting person, so full of mysteries and so closed off. Something else, besides his unbroken silence, drew Sanemi in. Like an old box in the far corner of the house, waiting to be opened and explored, except nobody was allowed to open it. Nobody was willing to, either. As if afraid something horrid would come out. Albeit it looked innocent on the outside, there was the small chance it would be filled with something terrible. To the point that even the box itself feared it's own being and refused to open up.
But Sanemi was curious.
Time flew on as usual—it never did stop, not for anyone or anything—and Sanemi grew less mechanical, more human. He found himself able to make skips in his usual schedule, able to live a bit more freely, despite his tightly programmed daily life.
He would use his occasional free time to wander around. He rarely actually spoke to anyone, only giving or following orders, occasionally engaging in small talk with some of the Hashira. But other than that, he kept to himself.
He was curious about Giyuu, however, which brought a bit of searching into his free time.
He would walk around, down random paths, looking for new places. Giyuu was one of the few Hashira's houses whom nobody knew where it was. Kanae's was free for anyone's knowledge, given that it was used for nursing people back to health often. Tengen invited the Hashira to his house from now and then, Kyojuro—who had become a Hashira recently—wasn't closed off about sharing and, though he didn't display it to the world, he did tell people if they asked.
Even Sanemi's, a select few knew.
But Giyuu's.
Giyuu's was only known to his crow, at this point, as he usually declined giving the knowledge to anyone. And something about that was peculiar to Sanemi. Like, what if there was an emergency? Would Giyuu simply live with the fact that whatever could happen might happen because nobody knew where he lived?
Although, it wasn't the worst thing possible, it was just something that set Giyuu aside from the others.
There was a lot that separated the Hashira from each other, of course. But Giyuu had something else that just... caught Sanemi's eye. Over and over again.
×××
Giyuu found himself growing more and more distant with the Hashira with each passing day. They already kept to themselves mostly, none of their schedules really overlapping, so it wasn't much different. But he started to avoid more so than mind his own business.
As the years past, more Hashira joined. Giyuu didn't feel connected to them, didn't feel like he could be like any of them. It was noticeable. And some of the Hashira tried to include him.
Although, include was a relative word. Some of them were kinder with it, but there were obviously those who were more... forceful. Like Sanemi.
Sanemi was, and had been since the day he'd became a Hashira, one of the most—or the most—irritating Hashira. He seemed apt to making Giyuu's life feel like that of a rat being chased by a cat, but not as life-threatening. Unless you counted going insane as life threatening.
One day, Sanemi had gone up to Giyuu—somehow having found him as he finished training somewhere in the clearing of a forest.
"Oi, Tomioka," he shouted, over the rush of water. There was a river, a loud one at that, that cut through the forest and skimmed along the edge of the field that Giyuu had found.
Giyuu turned. The weather was hot, so he had taken off the top of his uniform, folding that and his haori and placing it aside.
Deciding not to question why Sanemi was here, he cocked his head in question. "What?"
Sanemi seemed taken aback that he'd been responded to, but went on. "Uhm. Kanroji said that she wanted to invite all the Hashira on some shit sleepover and said I had to ask you to come," he said impatiently, his eyes flicking up and down, as if inspecting Giyuu.
"Oh. I won't go," Giyuu murmured. There was no reason to. It wasn't like the Hashira would actually want him to go.
Sanemi raised an eyebrow. "I figured."
"Then why did you ask?"
"Because Kanroji would get mad if I didn't. Which would induce ear-piercing cries about why," Sanemi snorted, rolling his eyes. He crossed his arms. He was sweating and the air was humid today, causing his hair to stick onto his skin.
"Ah."
Giyuu sheathed his katana, pulling his hair out of the ponytail to adjust it.
Sanemi watched him curiously, as if there was something to figure out.
"What?" Giyuu asked, upon noticing this.
"You never take down your hair," Sanemi said simply.
He was a lot less shout-y today, it was unsettling, almost.
"Okay."
They lapsed back into silence as Giyuu re-tied his hair back up, his hands sticky with sweat. The only sounds were of the rush water and the occasional bird from up ahead.
Sanemi wasn't leaving, which was curious. Especially since his eyes seemed to be tracking Giyuu, as if he was put in charge to guard him.
"...do you need anything?" Giyuu asked finally, growing uncomfortable.
"No," Sanemi murmured, turning away.
Confused, Giyuu watched as Sanemi left, without so much of an explanation. Odd.
×××
Fuck.
That day, that one day, that one stupid fucking day.
The sleepover thing was a lie. There hadn't been any sleepover. It had been an excuse to find Giyuu.
Sanemi hadn't figured he'd have any luck, so when he'd seen Giyuu there he'd instinctively called out to him. He'd managed to hide his surprise enough and masked it with the question he'd made up. Luckily, Giyuu had shot it down. Because if he hadn't...
But that was beside the point. It wasn't the question that made Sanemi panic. No, of course it wasn't.
It was the fact that when he had seen Giyuu there, he had... felt. Something. Something different.
Usually, anger was his key to reality. But, then, he hadn't been angry then. He had felt something else, something true. He couldn't distinguish it, being in some stupid trance when he'd felt it. But he knew that it was different.
So now he was tearing at his hair, wishing he'd figure it out because it was eating him alive now, and had been since the day he'd seen Giyuu there.
Giyuu without his-
No.
No, he wouldn't think about it. He wouldn't picture how Giyuu looked with his hair down, no shi... Shit. He shouldn't be thinking like this. He wouldn't!
Fuck.
Sanemi stood and grabbed his katana, pushing it into his belt and gritting his teeth in frustration. He stomped to the front of his house, slamming the door open and unsheathing his katana.
He brought the sword above his head and slashed down.
One. Two. Three.
Don't think about Giyuu. Don't think about him.
Twelve. Thirteen. Fourteen.
You hate him, remember? He's stupid.
Thirty six. Thirty seven. Thirty eight.
His boring responses and his way of ignoring.
Sixty four. Sixty five. Sixty six.
The way he distances himself, how he doesn't talk.
Ninety eight. Ninety nine. One hundred.
His stupid blue eyes and stupid black hair.
One hundred and forty one. One hundred and forty two. One hundred and forty three.
His stupid voice you want to hear every day. His stupid mouth you want to-
Sanemi threw his katana down in frustration, kicking the handle and making it skid away, hitting a small boulder a few feet from him.
He ran his hand through his hair, biting his bottom lip furiously until it bled.
"Goddammit," he hissed, the metallic taste of blood filling his mouth.
He sighed and sat down, burying his face in his hands. Fuck. What the fuck was he supposed to do now?
×××
Sanemi's uncharacteristic behavior had caught Giyuu's attention. It wasn't in his full interest, of course, but it was enough to make him curious. Yes, the weather had been hot and it made some people drowsy but... it hadn't ever visibly affected Sanemi enough to make him so quiet and... yeah.
Which made Giyuu wonder, was Sanemi ever quiet? The only time he could think of the scarred Hashira being silent was... when in Kagaya's presence. Meaning, only twice a year. Which meant it was very rare.
So, upon this realization, Giyuu decided he would try to figure it out. It wouldn't hurt to try getting along with Sanemi, right? Besides, maybe that would mean less yelling. And he would have something to do.
For a while, he forgot he was going to find out the reason of Sanemi's random personality slip, as it had completely left his mind; Sanemi wasn't exactly a priority to him.
But then he ran into Sanemi again one day, who seemed to be in a subdued mood, not even bothering to acknowledge Giyuu.
They were in the middle of a town, though, so it wasn't completely unreasonable.
Giyuu watched Sanemi carefully for a bit, before turning to continue buying his food.
Once he had paid and left, he turned back, noticing Sanemi instantly. He approached him cautiously, looking up curiously at the store the Wind Hashira had walked into. A sweets store? For pastries, mochis, and bread? Was he buying something for someone?
Giyuu hovered inside the store uncomfortably. A woman glanced at him and he quickly adjusted his haori over his katana; when people saw it, they usually called for security. He would know from experience.
Sanemi appeared to have noticed him immediately as he gave Giyuu an annoyed look, picking up a box of mochi that had been put down for him on the counter.
He walked towards the exit, muttering to Giyuu as he passed.
"The hell are you doing here?" he hissed between his teeth, his voice low.
The store was filled with a low chatter by the people around them and Giyuu quickly followed Sanemi out, deciding he didn't want to stay in this enclosed space with an almost intoxicating smell of sugar.
Back outside—and thank god for the fresh air—Giyuu and Sanemi walked quietly, side by side, through the streets.
The box, Giyuu noticed, was full of ohagi. Who liked ohagi? Mitsuri, maybe? He wasn't aware that Sanemi and Mitsuri were on good terms.
They continued in silence for a couple minutes until they reached a part that wasn't as crowded.
Sanemi stopped then, resulting in Giyuu stopping as well. They turned to each other and Sanemi glared at him.
"Were you stalking me or something? I saw you staring, earlier," Sanemi said, crossing his arms, the box of ohagi clutched in one hand.
"I wasn't," Giyuu mumbled.
"Right." Sanemi rolled his eyes. "Why'd you follow me into the bakery, then? You didn't buy shit."
Remembering the ohagi, Giyuu changed the subject. "Who is the ohagi for?"
"...The fuck does that have to do with anything? And it's not for anyone, I'm eating it"—he uncrossed his arms here, tapping the box—"And you didn't answer my question, dipshit."
Completely ignoring the last part, Giyuu said, surprised, "You like sweets?"
Sanemi raised an eyebrow. "And you like ignoring me. What the hell does my taste in food have to do with shit??"
Giyuu frowned. If Sanemi ate things like ohagi often, why wasn't he nicer? Like Mitsuri!
"Oi, you going to answer my question?" Sanemi snapped, waving the box in front of Giyuu's face.
"What question?" Giyuu asked, drawing blank.
Sanemi groaned. "I can't tell if you're really that stupid, or if you're just pretending."
"I'm... not pretending," Giyuu mumbled, confused.
"Goddammit, never-fucking-mind," Sanemi sighed, turning. "I'm going to go. Don't follow me."
Giyuu's frown deepened but he nodded, watching Sanemi walk away.
Sanemi was in a peculiar mood that way. Although he was still as fiesty as ever, he didn't shout as much as usual. His voice was quieter. It was almost pleasant. Almost.
×××
Giyuu had been quite talkative that day. Had a randomly curious nature, followed by a million questions. Sanemi couldn't tell if he liked this or if he hated it. On the one hand, it was nice to hear Giyuu's voice a bit more. On the other, he was being ignorant and nosy as fuck. But... he seemed curious as to what Sanemi was doing. Was he interested in-
No. That was stupid thinking, and being a Hashira did not allow stupid thinking!
Sanemi had been deep in thought about all of this for a couple hours now and was eating his ohagi whilst he walked towards... Where was he again?
He looked around, confused, and found himself standing admist a bamboo forest, water from a supposed river could be heard in the background. There was a house, a little ways forward, which was nestled comfortably in a small man-made clearing in the forest. The ground was gritty, like thickly packed sand, and it made a slight crunching sound as Sanemi walked towards the house, curious.
He'd never been here before.
He looked around, his eyes catching onto everything. Then he realized there was approaching him from behind and he turned, noticing the motion of a person, entering the clearing. He quickly hid by the side of the house, waiting for the person.
Their footsteps were moderate but precise, and they grew closer to the house before pausing and suddenly moving quickly to where Sanemi hid.
Fuck.
But then the person came into view and...
"Tomioka?"
Giyuu blinked at him, his hand dropping from his katana. "What are you doing here, Shinazugawa?" he asked quietly, his brilliant blue eyes flicking over Sanemi as if he was searching for an answer written upon his body.
"I was just walking and ended up here somehow." Then, with a realization, Sanemi said, "Do you live here?"
Giyuu gave a hesitant nod. "I wasn't aware I told anyone of this place."
"You didn't. I don't know fuck where I am," Sanemi said, retreating from his hiding spot to stand in front of Giyuu.
"Ah. Hello, again," Giyuu murmured. He turned, walking to his front door and unlocking it, opening the door.
Sanemi nodded, standing awkwardly.
Giyuu glanced at him. "Are you busy?" he asked.
"No," Sanemi said. "My next mission is just patrol shit, and it shouldn't be too far."
"Okay. Do you want to come in?" Giyuu offered, stepping inside.
Sanemi raised an eyebrow. "Are you going to drug me with tea?"
"...What?"
"Nevermind. Sure."
Giyuu nodded, motioning for him to come inside.
The interior of Giyuu's house was modest, kept mostly simple—which made sense given that the Hashira didn't usually devote their time to decorating their house. Except Mitsuri, maybe.
Sanemi closed the door behind him, looking around. "Why do you never tell anyone about your house?" he asked, absentmindedly.
Giyuu didn't respond, getting something from a different room.
Sanemi sighed. "You don't like responding, do you?" he asked pointedly, following Giyuu into what appeared to be the kitchen.
Giyuu glanced at him, then handed the albino male a teapot. Steam was filtering through the top, making Sanemi's hand feel humid and hot. He placed it on the knee-high table, confused why he'd been handed it. Giyuu gave him two cups in following and he poured the tea into them, watching the steam swirl and dissipate into the air.
Sanemi picked up one of the cups, the warmth from the tea seeping through the cup and warming his hands. Giyuu sat down across from where Sanemi stood, picking up his own cup.
It was silent as the two Hashira sipped their tea, neither having anything to say. Sanemi looked up, taking in the sight of Giyuu who sat quietly, his cup clasped in his hands, his eyes cast down, watching the swirl of the liquid. He looked cute this way, really. He always looked so subdued but it was adorable.
Honestly, something must be horrible wrong with Sanemi if he was thinking like this. He couldn't stop, somehow. Which was irritating to himself, almost worrying, really. Mostly annoying. He didn't want to be thinking about Giyuu 24/7, didn't want to be unable to look at Giyuu without falling into a fucking puddle.
He was fighting so hard to keep his composure at the moment, hoping beyond hope his face wasn't red. It was so fucking stupid, to look at Giyuu and think, God that man is so beautiful. Had he, or had he not, hated him before? Albeit, it hadn't truly been hate...
"What?"
Sanemi looked up at the sound of Giyuu's voice, startled by the sudden noise in the previously hushed room.
Giyuu was staring at him, his eyes wide. It was tripping to see him whenever he showed emotion. It was unnatural on his face.
"What?" Sanemi asked. He placed his cup down on the table, having finished his tea a couple minutes ago.
Giyuu's mouth opened and closed soundlessly before saying, quietly, "You... think I'm pretty?"
Sanemi blinked. "The fuck are you-" ...Oh. Oh, oh god, he must've said it out loud, he must've told Giyuu without even realizing that-
Giyuu put his cup down as well, biting his lip. His face was mostly impassive, though, and it made everything... so much worse.
"No. I, uhm, I didn't... I didn't mean to say that-" Sanemi stuttered, worsening matters. He should've just said it was a joke, or something, what the hell was wrong with him? He was stumbling over himself, backing away. Why was he so nervous? This was Giyuu, for fucks sake! He didn't actually care! ...Right?
Giyuu stood as well, nearly knocking down the table in the process. He steadied it and moved forwards, reaching an arm out to grab Sanemi's wrist—instinctively, most likely—but Sanemi had retreated already, was out the door and heading towards the front.
Giyuu followed him quickly, stopping him before he opened the door.
"Shinazugawa?"
And then it was like words suddenly stopped existing and Sanemi froze, his eyes flicking around nervously. "W...What?" he asked, his voice meek and timid. Disgusting. Why was he being like this? God, he needed help. What the fuck.
"Did you... Did you mean it?" Giyuu mumbled, his hand clasped around Sanemi's wrist. The feel of his palm was warm and, though his hands were calloused from years of training, his hand was almost soft.
"Mean what?" Stupid. This was stupid, Sanemi was stupid, everything was-
"What you said about... me."
Yes. He meant it. Meant more than that.
"No."
"Oh."
Giyuu let go of Sanemi's wrist and his arm fell to his side.
There was an awkward moment of silence and then-
"...sorry. Bye, Shinazugawa," he said quietly, opening the door for Sanemi and backing away slightly.
Sanemi didn't move for a second, his body feeling numb for no reason.
"Are you leaving?" Giyuu asked uncertainly.
"...Yes," Sanemi said, regaining feeling in his body and quickly making his way out.
He shut the door behind him, walking quickly through the clearing and back onto the path outside of it. He looked from his left to right then, deciding he didn't know where the hell he was, turned left and broke out into a slow run, his pace quickening by the second.
As he ran, he felt as if his lungs had deflated, and he breathed heavily through his mouth, as if suddenly he had lost the ability to run.
What the hell was that? Why had he acted like that? What the fuck was wrong with him?
×××
Giyuu was in a panic. He was panicking because:
1. Sanemi had found his house somehow.
2. Sanemi had been quiet for the longest time possible for him.
3. Sanemi had been drinking tea with Giyuu inside Giyuu's house... quietly.
4. Sanemi said that Giyuu was beautiful... then went on to deny it.
5. Sanemi had been so awkward.
6. Sanemi had then proceeded to run away after Giyuu had caught hold of his arm.
What the hell had just happened?!
×××
Sanemi was also panicking. Waaay worse.
He found Obanai quickly and, in the most incomprehensible way, recounted what had happened.
Obanai stared at him, confused and irritated. "What? Will you slow the fuck down and catch your breath first?"
Sanemi ignored him, deciding to explain in a faster way. "I think I like Tomioka."
Obanai crossed his arms. "Okay?"
"'Fuck you mean, 'okay'?!" Sanemi snapped.
"It was obvious that you liked him, idiot," Obanai said. He rolled his eyes. "Is that all? A stupid revelation everyone but you already knew? If so, I will be with Kanroji, thank you very much."
"Oh my god, think about something other than your girlfriend for once!!!" Sanemi groaned. "And what the fuck do you mean, 'everyone already knew'? I didn't even know!"
"Riiighttt, this is a massive waste of my time, I'll be off now," Obanai said, turning away.
"Bitch," Sanemi grumbled, watching Obanai practically skip off to Mitsuri.
He sighed, sitting down on the ground, leaning against a random tree that just so happened to be there.
He buried his face in his hands, wishing he knew the answers to the world. And wishing he wasn't thinking about Giyuu.
×××
Sanemi had suddenly become a person that Giyuu could be more than mildly interested in, someone he needed to find something out about but he didn't quite know what. And given that Sanemi had basically run away from him the last time they'd met, Giyuu opted to talk to Obanai about Sanemi.
Upon approaching him and asking him about Sanemi, Obanai simply said, "He fell in love with someone," and gave no other explanation before leaving.
Almost frustrated by this response, Giyuu searched for someone else who could tell him a little something about the Hashira he'd always wanted to avoid.
He went to Mitsuri next, whom was known for her friendliness and perhaps she had managed to speak a bit with Sanemi before.
She didn't say much, only burst into a fit of giggling when he asked about Sanemi.
Giyuu just stood there awkwardly, unsure what to do.
Mitsuri told him, then, that perhaps Sanemi was acting like this because he liked someone.
Which only made it all the more annoying.
Shinobu, Tengen and Kyojuro only gave similar answers to those of Obanai's and Mitsuri's. So, Giyuu gave up asking the Hashira and quickly tracked down Genya.
Genya was surprised to hear the question.
"Aniki?" he'd said. "What do you mean?"
"Yes. That's what he said. Then he left," Giyuu said blandly.
"Oh. Uhm." Genya hesitated. "I don't know. I don't know him as well as I used to."
"Oh."
There was a moment of silence.
"What do you know about him, then? Be it not of his present self," Giyuu asked.
"Uhh... He's really good with children! He cared for me and my younger siblings really well, as if he was our father," Genya said, a smile slowly spreading on his face. "He was really kind. I remember he would do anything to help Mother when she needed it, even did most of the things she usually did just so she could sleep well that night."
Giyuu raised an eyebrow. "He sounds very different."
Genya frowned. "I'm sure he's still like that..."
"Mhm. Go on."
"Alright. Uhm..." Genya then proceeded to go on a rant about the most random facts about Sanemi, from his favorite food—ohagi—to the friends he'd had in the past.
Giyuu listened with interest, not realizing there could be so much character to a man who seemed to make it his life goal to annoy people.
At the end of Genya's rant, he had said, "he might like you, you know, if he said that. Or he was thinking about someone else?" Genya concluded, referring to Sanemi calling him beautiful—then claiming he didn't mean it.
"Like me?..." Giyuu asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Mhm!" Genya waved, walking away. "Tell me if anything happens!"
"Alright..." Giyuu watched him leave, then turned back to his own thoughts.
Like him? Why would anyone like Giyuu? And, of all people, Sanemi! Although, it would tie together with what the Hashira had said, given that they'd all said that Sanemi had 'fallen in love.'
But... how? And why?
×××
Sanemi successfully managed to avoid Giyuu for about three days before he was found. He had been walking down a path after his mission, on his way home, when he ran into Giyuu. Giyuu, as it turned out, had had a mission near Sanemi's and had also been on his way home.
"Shinazugawa?"
Sanemi's heart stopped. Fuck.
Giyuu was standing there, his expression all innocent and unassuming and... God. Yes, yes he looked like a fucking god.
"What?" Sanemi snapped, fighting against the heat that rose in his body. Goddammit.
"I've been looking for you..." Giyuu said, stepping forwards to be face to face with the Wind Hashira, his gaze curious, a contrast to his usually impassive expression.
"...Why?" It's not because he's interested, it is not. Sanemi's eyes flicked anywhere but to Giyuu's face and he pursed his lips uncertainly.
"I wanted to ask you about something," Giyuu replied, tilting his head slightly. "...Why won't you look at me?"
"Why the fuck are you so talkative?!" Sanemi asked, his voice coming out more irritated than he'd intended. His heart seemed to be working again; or maybe not. It beat quickly, too quickly, and his breath came out forced and quick.
"Are you okay?" Giyuu's voice was concerned, he frowned. "Your face is red..."
"Fuck off. It's... 'cause I was running a lot. And you aren't answering me," Sanemi mumbled, turning his face away.
"Oh." Giyuu paused, seemingly forgetting what he was doing here. "I wanted to ask you some-"
"I get it, you want to ask me something. Get the fuck on with it! I don't have time to waste on your shitty ass," Sanemi said, crossing his arms. Why was he acting like this, as if he could barely control his emotions anymore. It was stupid, and annoying.
"...Sorry." Giyuu pouted. "Do you... like me?"
Sanemi froze. "What?"
"Do you like me?..." Giyuu repeated.
"No, I heard you, don't fucking repeat it," Sanemi gritted out. "Why the hell would you ask that?!"
"...I was... wondering about your behavior. It was peculiar and I... couldn't fathom why you had acted like that," Giyuu said quietly. "I asked the Hashira and your brother and... they all said you liked someone—though Genya said that, more specifically, you might like... me?"
"I..." Sanemi was at loss for words. He couldn't like Giyuu! Not that stupid, quiet, bitchass bastard! Except, it would make sense. It would explain why he always felt so... Oh my god, he needed to get out of here. He couldn't bear having Giyuu's annoyingly pretty eyes staring at him curiously, as if he hadn't just dropped the worst question he ever could.
"No. No, I hate you! I don't like you! Fuck off!" Sanemi shouted, turning and quickly running off, not looking back.
Fuck.
×××
There was something wrong with Giyuu.
When Sanemi had left, shouting that he didn't like him, Giyuu had felt a pang in his chest. As if he was disappointed.
Why would he be? He'd never cared much what Sanemi said before. And yet...
And yet now he suddenly cared, suddenly wished to know why. Why what? Why everyone claimed Sanemi had fallen in love? Why Sanemi had called him beautiful? Why Sanemi seemed to hate him so much? Why he felt like it all actually mattered?
He had trudged home, nearly bumping into several trees in the process. Then he had flopped onto his futon and proceeded to stare at the cealing, re-thinking his life. The image of Sanemi from earlier flashed in his memory. Sanemi, his cheeks flushed,—from running???—his eyes averted and face scrunched from anger. He looked like an angry dog, really. But cuter.
Wait. What?
No, no, not cute. Sanemi was never cute.
Giyuu sighed, dropping a hand onto his forehead and running his hand through his hair, closing his eyes. What the fuck was wrong with him?
×××
It was dark and raining, though the air was warm. Sanemi was trudging through a muddy forest without a clue to where he was going, exhaustion dragging him down. He was soaked to the bone and shivering despite the warm weather. As he walked, he noted that somebody was somewhere around him. He kept his guard up, quieting his footsteps as he continued on. Then, at an intersection of the path, he bumped into... Genya.
Genya had his arm over his head and had apparently only just noticed Sanemi, skittering backwards in his surprise. "A-... Aniki?!" Genya said, startled.
Sanemi grumbled. Of course it was him. "What?" he asked, irritated.
"Uhm. I was on a mission," Genya mumbled.
"What, are you going to bleed to death now??" Sanemi said, noticing the blood staining Genya's clothing. "Quit the fucking Corps if you're going to be so useless at your job."
"No! I'm fine! It's a light wound. And I won't quit!! I'm not useless!" Genya insisted, pouting.
Sanemi rolled his eyes. "Then get your ass to Kocho's. I don't want to deal with you right now," he said, turning away from his (not) brother and stalking away.
"Wait- Aniki-" Genya called out, following him.
"Fuck off! And I'm not your brother!" Sanemi snapped, not turning to look at him.
"Please-"
"Shut the actual fuck up," he said, turning and pushing Genya to the ground.
Genya slipped on the mud and fell on his back. He frowned but stopped following Sanemi who walked away, through the forest.
Sanemi looked around, trying to figure out where the hell he was. He noticed a path that looked vaguely familiar to the left and he followed it, his steps slow. He let out an exaggerated sigh every now and then, wishing he could just stop Genya from being Genya for once.
He looked up and found that, as the path went on, there was one part that entered into what looked like a bamboo forest. Ah. Giyuu's house.
He contemplated going inside for a minute before deciding to just walk past it, not wanting to deal with Giyuu asking if... No, he wouldn't finish the sentence.
So he trudged on. Then, to his luck, he heard his name being called out. He turned with a sigh, meeting Giyuu's gaze. "What is it?" he asked, his voice coming out harsher than intended.
"Uhm. Shinazugawa, what're you doing outside now?" Giyuu asked. "It's raining, you should get inside unless you want to get a cold."
"Yeah, well, I have no fucking idea where I am. I'll be fine," Sanemi said, shaking his head.
"Come inside!" Giyuu insisted. "I have a mission I have to get to in a bit, I think, but it'll be fine. You can stay here so Kocho doesn't kill you for getting sick."
"Fair enough..." Sanemi sighed, caving in. He followed Giyuu inside, slipping off his shoes.
"You should bathe and change," Giyuu said, looking Sanemi up and down. "I'll put extra clothing and a towel in the bathroom and make an extra futon for you."
"Alright. Thanks," Sanemi said, wondering why the hell Giyuu was talking to much.
Giyuu nodded and went off to do what he had said, leaving Sanemi standing in the hall.
×××
After Giyuu had made sure that Sanemi had everything he might need—putting out a tray of food next to the futon as well—he quickly wrote a note explaining that he would be out on a mission and that Sanemi could sleep or whatever he wanted while waiting.
He left the note on top of the futon and grabbed his haori, slipping it on. He picked up his katana, pushing it into his belt, and heading outside into the rain.
The mission was easy—the demons being surprisingly incompetent for a Hashira to be called there. And, after making sure the surviving rank-and-file Demon Slayers were alright, he made his way home. Unfortunately he'd been held up by the other Demon Slayers so dawn was already approaching.
The rain had settled to a light sprinkle, almost non-existent, and the sky was brightening as the sun slowly arose.
Back home, Giyuu quickly bathed and changed, then went to look for Sanemi. He entered his room and found Sanemi entangled between the sheets of his futon. The food was half eaten and the note sat on the tray.
Giyuu almost smiled at the sight. It was really nice to see the humanity in Sanemi; it was rare. He slipped into his own futon and closed his eyes, falling asleep soon after.
×××
When Sanemi awoke, light was filtering through a window. He ran a hand through the mess of his hair, moving the blankets off of him. He looked to his left and saw Giyuu fast asleep. He smiled—then quickly frowned at himself for smiling—and turned to his food, which was mostly cold now. Regardless, he ate the rest of it. Once he finished, he picked up the tray and took it to where he presumed the kitchen was, washing his bowls.
As he dried his hands, he heard Giyuu walking and turned.
Giyuu was at the doorway, looking quite illegally adorable in all his sleepiness, his hair messy as hell. He blinked wearily at Sanemi. "Good morning."
"'Morning," Sanemi returned, nodding. "It's strange to wake up actually in the morning."
Giyuu nodded back. "Mhm."
"Are you hungry?"
"A bit."
"Want me to make something?" he offered.
Giyuu raised an eyebrow. "You can cook?"
"Don't look at me like that. Of course I can, what kind of eldest sibling would I be without knowing how to cook??" Sanemi scoffed. "I'll show you."
"I wouldn't want to bother you, it's fine," Giyuu murmured. "I can make myself something."
"What, canned tomato sauce? I'm making it. I took your question as a fucking challenge," Sanemi said, pushing Giyuu out of the kitchen. "I'm going to use whatever the hell you have in here, by the way!!"
Giyuu called back a complaint in response.
Sanemi grinned and started scouring the kitchen for ingredients, deciding he would make the most elaborate food he could with what he found. Literally for no reason at all.
×××
Sanemi had called Giyuu in to eat—after he had waited for an hour—and now, sitting before him, was... The most food he'd seen in front of him in his life since... Since he was thirteen. No, well, not the most. But it reminded him of when Tsutako had guests over and she wanted to make the food be the best it possibly could be.
"Uhhm. Thank you..." Giyuu said, still in shock.
Sanemi smirked. "Who can't cook now?!"
"It wasn't even a challenge!" Giyuu whined.
"Mhmmm, well now it is! Whatever you don't eat I'm sending to Rengoku probably. Or Kanroji. Either of them will eat it without a question," Sanemi said, crossing his arms. "Now, eat."
"Why're you feeding me???" Giyuu huffed, though he sat down and picked up a fork that Sanemi had laid down for him.
"Because I never do this anymore and I was bored. And I didn't feel like training yet," he said simply, sitting down across from Giyuu. "Why, do you not want to eat?"
Giyuu shook his head. "No, no, I do. You're just being so nice today-"
Sanemi rolled his eyes. "Fine, I'll stop being nice." He stood and walked to the other side of the table and smacked Giyuu's head. "Eat!!"
"I... I preferred you when you were nice..." Giyuu admitted, quickly starting to eat.
"Exactly. Besides, you can't be questioning me when you're talking as much as Rengoku today," Sanemi pointed out.
"No' af mush," Giyuu mumbled through mouthfuls of food.
"Hm. True. And don't talk with your mouth full or I'll squeeze the food out of you," Sanemi threatened, going back to his side of the table and plopping down.
Giyuu glared at him but finished chewing before responding. "What are you, my mom?"
"Yes, I'm your mom now. Manners!!" Sanemi shouted, picking up a piece of bread and chucking it at Giyuu.
"Hey- Parents don't do that- I think-" Giyuu whined, picking up the bread and putting it on the table.
"You 'think'??" Sanemi asked incredulously, starting to eat.
"My sister raised me," Giyuu said with a shrug—then realized what he said and quickly stuffed food in his mouth, wishing he wasn't being so open suddenly. Something about Sanemi's atmosphere today just made him so comfortable, though. His teasing manner—and not in a rude way. Like... Sabito.
"Ah. Nice," Sanemi murmured, picking up a cup and filling it with tea.
"Mm. Thanks for the food, again," Giyuu said, giving him a slight smile.
Sanemi raised his eyebrows at the smile, but said nothing of it, simply nodding. "Sure."
×××
Back at his own house, Sanemi was changed in his uniform again. He laid the clothes Giyuu had let him borrow down and- Oh shit, he had taken them home- He contemplated going back to Giyuu's house, then decided he'd rather not bother and headed outside to train.
His mind was filled with thoughts of Giyuu—Giyuu's smile, his house, just him in general—and he found it hard to concentrate on his training. So, only ten minutes after he'd started, he promptly gave up, deciding to do something else and set out on a walk.
Over the next few days, Sanemi found himself mostly alone. Although there was the occasional nod from Obanai when they passed by each other, he was mostly solitary. Days were busier now, with demons multiplying each second. The past dull of life seemed to have faded recently, however, which made him not mind the constant missions. In honesty, he felt relieved. But he had a feeling Giyuu had something to do with his life feeling like life again, a fact which he preferred to ignore. There was no way in hell he would ever admit to anyone that he liked Giyuu, because it was Giyuu. If it were literally anyone else, he would've just told them. But Giyuu?? The 'I'm not like you' quiet-ass bastard who was way too cute than he should be allowed to be—who was a stupid, oblivious fuck??? Him??
Nah.
Honestly, Giyuu seemed to have it figured out though. So hopefully Sanemi wouldn't have to clarify. Because if he did, then they were better off not interacting at all.
×××
"He likes you, it's obvious," Shinobu said, rolling her eyes. She taped the bandage around Giyuu's wrist and let go of his arm. "Anyway, I'm done. Don't force your arm past its limits, know your own strength, idiot. Or weaknesses, if you may."
Giyuu blinked. "I don't think he likes me. He said he didn't."
"Does Shinazugawa seem like the type to be honest when it comes to this?" Shinobu asked, raising an eyebrow. She stood, putting away her supplies.
"He's annoyingly honest," Giyuu murmured, standing as well.
"Fair point. But! Keywords, 'when it comes to this.' He wouldn't just straight up say, 'Hey, I like you.' Doesn't sound like him," Shinobu said, picking up a pen and tapping Giyuu's nose with the tip of it.
Giyuu batted the pen away, shaking his head. "No, he seems like the type to do that."
"Hm. Not with you, then," she said, grabbing his non-injured hand and forcing the pen into it.
"I don't need this," Giyuu said, trying to give it back.
"You do. Sign this," Shinobu said, shoving a paper in his face.
Giyuu eyed it. "What is it?"
"You're overworking yourself. This gives you permission to have a break," she said impatiently. "Write your name there."
"...No. I'm alright," he said, frowning.
She sighed. "Worth a shot. I'll just forge your signature. Anyway, back to Shinazugawa."
"Hey-" Giyuu whined as she snatched the pen and paper back.
A smile as sweet as a lemon spread across her face. "Yes?"
"...You're a pain, Kocho," he grumbled, sitting back down.
"That's all? Very well, let's go back to the topic of your boyfriend. Now, tell me, do you like him?" she asked, leaning closer to him.
Heat seemed to flicker into his cheeks and he fidgetted with his sleeve. "No..."
She laughed. "I'm not Uzui but I could hear your lie from miles away."
"I'm not lying..."
"Okay, well, tell me this. Since all of this"—she waved her hand over him, as if it would explain anything—"has happened, you've been, one, talking more, two, a lot more expressive, three, more distracted. And... four? You're blushing. When I asked you, you turned red."
"I did not!" Giyuu said indignantly, although he was sure he only turned redder.
"You're annoying. You're like a child," she said, exasperated. "Fine. Be it your way. But he does like you, mark my words. So if you two end up dating, I get to say 'I told you so.' Also, I better be the first person you tell."
Giyuu frowned. "We won't date. I don't like him, and I'm sure he doesn't like me."
"Suit yourself." She hit his head with a ruler that she'd apparently conjured out of nowhere. "Now get out. I have more important things to deal with."
Giyuu sighed and stood, quickly leaving before she decided to bother him again.
There was no way what she was saying was true. Why the hell would Giyuu fall for... Sanemi?! And vice versa. It just didn't make sense...
×××
"You're going to be the death of me," Sanemi said, sighing. Giyuu was currently on his back, clinging on for dear life, as Sanemi stalked to the ravenette's room.
Sanemi had finally decided to bring back Giyuu's clothes—once he'd worked up the courage to willingly visit him—only to find Giyuu collapsed on the ground having apparently been training for some hours and hadn't been hydrated enough.
"I'm sorryyy," Giyuu mumbled into Sanemi's shoulder.
"Save your apologies for Kocho, you better hope she doesn't barricade you in your room," he said, rolling his eyes. He kicked down Giyuu's bedroom door and marched inside, dropping the Hashira on his bed. "Sleep."
"I'm convinced you're trying to mother me," Giyuu said, a hand drapping over his forehead and obscuring his eyes. "First you cook me food and now you make me sleep."
Sanemi scoffed. "Your fault for being so incompetent. And I'm not your mother. What, do you want me to be? Want me to kiss you goodnight?"
Giyuu raised his arm to look at Sanemi. "Would you do it?"
His eyes were curious, a striking blue. Usually they seemed to hold no life in them, no emotion, no passion, no nothing. But there was a glint to it now, seeming to light up Giyuu's face like a beacon.
Sanemi swallowed. "Would you ask?"
Giyuu's lips curved in a small smile. "Touché."
Sanemi sighed, shaking his head—more at himself. "You're stupid."
"I'll sleep now," Giyuu informed him, pulling the sheets over himself.
"You better. I'm staying here 'till you sleep."
"What?! You creep," he whined.
"Either that or I tell Kocho," Sanemi said, set on his decision.
"...Fine, stalk me all you want," Giyuu said, frowning and closing his eyes.
Sanemi smiled to himself, leaning against the wall and waiting.
The room drew to a quiet hum, the only sound being the two Hashira's breathing.  After a while, Giyuu's breath finally calmed into a slow, settled sleep, his face relaxed and soothed.
Sanemi stepped towards the bed quietly, hovering over him. He knelt beside Giyuu and, once he decided that he really was asleep, started to step away. Then he paused, his eyes trailing to Giyuu's lips.
He immediately struck down the idea, mentally berating himself for even thinking it. He parted the dark locks resting on Giyuu's forehead, placing a gentle kiss there before quickly fixing the Hashira's hair and retreating from the room, making his way outside.
The cool air hit his face as he stepped out, but he barely noticed it, heat flickering in his cheeks as he walked out of the clearing and into the path that would lead him back. God, why was he such a mess...
(i loved writing that sm)
×××
Giyuu was a light sleeper.
Anyone in the Demon Slayer Corps had to be, or they wouldn't even pass Final Selection. So, of course, he had awoken. Though he had been too sleepy to comprehend why he had woken up so randomly, and so quickly, at the time, he quickly realized it once Sanemi had left.
Now he lay, curled up in a ball, his face buried in his palms, mentally screaming. Because.. what the hell had just happened?! But... he wasn't complaining.
Wait- Why not-
He pulled the blanket over his head, engolfing himself in the darkness. No, this wasn't better. It only made his face hotter. He sat up, the cool air bursting upon him. He fanned himself, trying to calm his heartbeat.
Fuck, he was in love, wasn't he. He was in love, he was in love with Sanemi Shinazugawa. He was a fucking mess.
×××
"...You look like Tomioka just kissed you," Obanai said, crossing his arms and leaning back against a tree.
Sanemi had found him, after a while, and was trying to get his thoughts together, pacing up and down on the side of the path. "He didn't! I did!"
"Wait what-" Obanai said, standing up straight and leaning towards him. "What do you mean?!"
Sanemi let out a half-sigh, half scream, raking his hand through his hair. "Not... Not fully, just on his forehead. And he was asleep. BUT STILL!!"
Obanai slumped back against the tree, rolling his eyes. "Coward," he coughed.
"Oh, shut the fuck up. It's not like you have kissed Kanroji yet," Sanemi spat, stopping in front of Obanai.
"Yeah, well, unlike you, I have still been way more successful!!" he retorted. "All you have done is eat breakfast with him!! Meanwhile, I've eaten lunch and breakfast with her many days, gone on walks with her, bought her gifts, hugged her..."
Sanemi rolled his eyes. "Yet you haven't told her that you like her."
"Hey! You haven't told Tomioka either!!" Obanai pointed out.
"Righhttt, and who, exactly, has liked their crush for longer?? Hmm? Oh, right! You!" Sanemi laughed. "Your arguments are pitiful."
"You're freaking out about kissing Tomioka on the fucking forehead when he was asleep, don't call me pitiful," Obanai grumbled.
"Hm. Fair enough," Sanemi decided.
"Look, take Tomioka out on a walk or something equivalent to a date, for all I care. But if you keep ranting about how you kissed him on the forehead without him knowing then I'm going to find Tomioka and tell him how you feel. I don't give a fuck anymore," Obanai told him, moving away from the tree and walking back onto the path.
Sanemi turned towards him. "Consider it the same for you. I don't know how long I can stand hearing you talk about Kanroji. 'Oh my god! Kanroji told me we can eat lunch together, just like yesterday, and the day before, and the day before, and the day before, and the day bef-'"
"I GET IT!!!" Obanai snapped, rubbing his temples. "Fine. You stop, I stop."
"Deal."
Sanemi grinned. "Have fun eating lunch with her again. Or, rather, watching her eat lunch."
Obanai pushed him. "Fuck off."
×××
Sanemi had kissed him. He'd kissed him, he had kissed him, oh my god, Sanemi had-
Well. It could've just been to the joke from before. About 'kissing him goodnight.' BUT STILL. AND GIYUU HAD BEEN ASLEEP(ish).
Which made it all the more... Confusing. Maybe Sanemi saw him only as a sibling or a child or something. He did keep taking care of him, which didn't even seem coincidental anymore. As if, assuming one could believe in fate, they were being purposefully brought together. Constantly in each other's ways. ...Not that Giyuu minded.
In fact, he liked spending more time with Sanemi.
The fact of which was a huge shock to himself. Hadn't he just hated Sanemi?
Well. Things always changed, no...?
Maybe this change wouldn't be bad, though. Maybe he should try embracing it.
Giyuu found himself constantly distracted by these thoughts as he went on with his days. But, surprisingly, he didn't come across Sanemi for a while. Either Sanemi was avoiding him—which was reasonable, yet disappointing—or their schedules just kept them apart from each other. Whatever the reason was, Giyuu ended up going in search of Sanemi, wanting to clarify the ki...
No, he wouldn't say it. Wouldn't think it. He preferred not to feel as if he would have a heart attack—an abnormal heartbeat and flushed face...
He sighed, mussing up his hair so it covered his face, continuing to walk briskly down the path. He avoided some Demon Slayers who had seemingly popped out of nowhere and were attempting to talk to them, mentally berating himself for not being careful and getting unwanted attention. Just as he was about to give up and let them talk to him, he noticed Sanemi somewhere in the close distance.
He sped up, ignoring the calls of the other Demon Slayers who trotted behind him.
Sanemi looked up upon all the noise and seemed to be holding back laughter at the sight of Giyuu's pleading gaze. He cleared his throat, grabbing Giyuu's arm and pushing him behind him.
"The hell do you want?" he asked the others, glaring at them.
They all shrank back. One of them spoke up timidly, his voice shaky. "W... We just wanted to talk to Water-Pillar-sama..."
"I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. See, I need him somewhere. You all can go now," Sanemi said, waving them off.
"But-"
"I said I need him. You said you wanted something from him. Need is more important than want, fuckers. If you don't leave now, maybe we can see how well you can weild your katanas against a Hashira," Sanemi said, a hand hovering over his katana handle.
"Shinazugawa, there's no need to-" Giyuu started.
Sanemi shushed him, turning back to the Demon Slayers. "So? What will it be?"
They seemed to hesitate for a second before deciding it wasn't worth it and collectively agreed to leave, scampering away.
Sanemi turned back to Giyuu, a smirk growing on his face. "Got people falling on themselves for you now, hm?" he teased.
Giyuu sighed. "Will I have to find someone else to shoo you away?" he asked.
"I was joking- The hell did they even want from you, though?" Sanemi said, crossing his arms.
"I don't know," Giyuu murmured.
"Right." An awkward silence spread between the two and they stared at the ground, unsure what to say.
"Uh. Now that you're free, guess I'll be taking my leave-" Sanemi said, appearing to want to dash away. His cheeks were dabbed in a dusty pink as he stepped back.
"Wait- Shinazugawa, I wanted to ask you something," Giyuu said, grabbing Sanemi's wrist as he remembered why he had been outside in the first place.
"Which is?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Giyuu paused, glancing down at his hand which was still clasped around the scarred wrist of the other Hashira. Sanemi's pulse was fast. Why?
"Uhm. A few days ago... when you told me to sleep," Giyuu started quietly, unsure how to go about it. Then, deciding that there was no use stalling, he blurted out, "Why did you kiss me?"
Sanemi stared at him, in shock apparently, then let out what sounded like a muted scream, burying his face in the hand Giyuu wasn't holding. "God, you were awake...?" he mumbled, sounding as if he was regretting everything. Which he probably was doing.
"I... woke up when you did that," Giyuu murmured.
"...Of course you did," Sanemi said.
Giyuu cocked his head to the side. "Can I ask you something, Shinazugawa?"
"What now...?" he said with a sigh, running his hand through his hair—or, more, tearing at his hair.
"Why is your heartbeat so fast?" Giyuu asked.
Sanemi looked up, glaring at him. "Stop asking questions I'd rather tear my chest out than answer," he grumbled.
Giyuu raised an eyebrow. "What-?"
"Nevermind."
"Okay..." Giyuu let go of his wrist. "Will you answer the questions?"
Sanemi hesitated. "What happens if I don't?"
"I'll... ask Genya for help?..." Giyuu said slowly, knowing it would irritate Sanemi—and hopefully convince him to speak.
Sanemi's eyes narrowed. "Fuck, fine." He let out an exaggerated sigh, then without warning reached up and clasped his hands on either side of Giyuu's face, pulling him closer.
Giyuu's eyes widened and he felt himself flush at the proximity, his stomach deciding to do some acrobatic trick of Mitsuri's, followed by what appeared to be a bunch of Shinobu's fluttering around.
"Shinazugawa...?" he mumbled, his voice muted from his own shock.
×××
Do it. DO IT.
Sanemi let out a breath, his eyes searching Giyuu's. He found no sign of resistance, only question and surprise.
"Listen. If you hate this, just push me away. I won't resist," Sanemi advised, his tone as serious as he could force it to be with his heart flying circles in his ribcage, as if trying to break free.
"Do wh-"
Before Giyuu could finish, Sanemi fit his mouth against the Water user's, one hand tangling in the dark locks of Giyuu's hair, the other slipping down to his waist. He paused when he got no response, and started to move away, but then arms wrapped around his body, pulling him closer and back into the kiss.
They stumbled through the embrace, their legs tangling with one anothers. He didn't know who finally pulled away, but when they did, the two stood there, Giyuu resting his head on Sanemi's shoulder, their breaths harsh and quick—not solely from the kiss.
Then, as if just realizing what they'd done, they scrambled away from each other, looking like embarrassed puppies.
Giyuu was the first to speak, his voice meek—not that Sanemi could blame him. "Do you... like me?" he mumbled.
Sanemi frowned. "I thought I told you to stop asking me questions like that."
"Like what?"
"Questions that I'd commit seppuku before answering," he said, crossing his arms.
"...Sorry," Giyuu said, pouting.
"You better be. Also, the answer should be fucking obvious. If it's not, then you're stupid." Sanemi rolled his eyes, stalking towards him and grabbing Giyuu's arm. "We're going somewhere private now. C'mon."
Giyuu nodded quickly, following him. "I'm not stupid," he muttered, more to himself
"Hm?"
"Nothing."
×××
Since then, Giyuu and Sanemi avoided each other. Mostly from embarrassment and neither wanting to bring up the topic again. After they had left the public eye, they had made out for a bit, being too shy—which was definitely not a word that would usually describe either of them—to talk about anything. It had been exactly a week, two days, four hours, and thirty one minutes since they had parted ways—yes, Giyuu had been counting.
But—finally—they had decided to meet again, talk about it more formally. Rather, Sanemi had invited Giyuu to lunch and Giyuu had agreed. He stood, waiting, in front of a restaurant. Apparently Sanemi had reserved a table but had forgotten to tell Giyuu, so now he was awkwardly hovering in front of the restaurant wishing Sanemi would hurry the fuck up.
After a few agonizing minutes of waiting, Sanemi appeared at last, looking out of breath. His hair looked oddly neat and well kept—unlike usual—and he had a smell of flowers wafting around him.
"Hey," he said, nodding to Giyuu. "Sorry for keeping you waiting. Iguro wanted me to help him with something then Kanroji came by, carrying like fifty bottles of perfume and wanted to test them out on me..." He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
A smile crept up Giyuu's lips. "So that's why you smell as what I'd imagine a bee would during the summer?"
"Shut the fuck up," Sanemi said, opening the restaurant door and tugging Giyuu inside.
After they had found their table and ordered some food and settled down, Sanemi rested his arms on the table, clasping his hands together and turned to Giyuu. "So!" he said, as if trying to say something he most definitely did not want to say.
"Hm?"
"...I hate how little you talk," Sanemi grumbled. "You only ever talk to ask the most embarrassing shit ever."
"...sorry??"
Sanemi laughed, sounding uncharacteristically nervous. "Yeah, no, nevermind. Let's just wait for the food."
Giyuu nodded, his heart beating faster than a humming bird's wings.
They waited in silence, conspicuously avoiding each others eyes.
When the food finally arrived, they took the opportunity to busy themselves with eating, pretending like they both had things they wanted to discuss but couldn't bring it up. Halfway through the meal, Giyuu gave up and said, abruptly, "Are we dating?"
Sanemi all but choked on his food, grasping for a cup of water. Giyuu hurried to help him, panicking.
After he had calmed down, Sanemi said, "I'm convinced you're trying to kill me, Tomioka."
Giyuu apologized again. "I didn't mean for that to happen..."
"I know. I was joking. Seriously, you really are stupid," Sanemi deadpanned.
"I'm not!" Giyuu whined.
"See, that was also a joke. Okay, maybe it wasn't. Also you sound like a child. But, uhm, back to the topic," Sanemi said, his tone switching completely.
They lapsed back into silence, staring at each other awkwardly.
"...are we, then...?" Giyuu mumbled, unsure what to make of the atmosphere.
"Uhm." Sanemi coughed, trying to think of a response. "Do you want to?"
Giyuu frowned. "Yes... Do you?"
Sanemi pushed a bowl of salmon daikon towards Giyuu, folding his hands on the table. "Then we're dating."
"What? But you never said if you-"
"I literally did, just not directly. But if you need me to spell it out to you then, yes. I do. And since you do too, apparently, then we're dating," Sanemi told him.
"...okay!" Giyuu said happily, taking the bowl with a small smile.
"Mm. How is your smile so small yet it lights up your whole face..." Sanemi said, resting his elbow on the table and head in his hand, laughing gently.
"I'm smiling? Sorry," Giyuu said, his lips quickly curving to its usual neutral state.
"Why sorry? Your smile isn't terrifying," Sanemi said, frowning.
"Kocho said it's weird," Giyuu mumbled.
"Well fuck her, then! It's not weird, it's... cute."
He flushed. "It's not cute!"
"Says you." A playful smirk rising upon Sanemi's face. "Anyways, hurry up and eat. I don't feel like waiting forever."
"Aren't you going to eat?-" Giyuu asked, looking up from his bowl.
"I finished."
"...oh."
××× (it's js sillyness from here on out)
Sanemi and Giyuu had come to a mutual agreement to not tell anyone of their relationship, or mostly keep it private. Both for the reasons of disliking gossip. From Tengen and Shinobu in specific. They were 99% sure that, if by any way, their relationship would become public knowledge, Tengen and Shinobu would have fun making up theories and teasing them day and night.
So, despite everyone somehow knowing that Sanemi liked Giyuu, the only people that knew of their relationship becoming real were Obanai and... Obanai. Just him.
Sanemi had said that they could tell their closest friends—as long as they swore not to say anything. Giyuu said, quite exactly, "I don't have friends."
Which... lead to Sanemi having to comfort him.
But all was said and all was done and the two found ways to meet in private between missions and training, managing to keep their relationship a secret for a surprisingly long amount of time. Of course, nothing ever lasts, and the Hashira eventually caught on.
Sanemi was a lot better at hiding it, just snapping at Giyuu all the time like usual—which he assured Giyuu that whatever he said wasn't what he truly meant, until they were alone. But Giyuu, on the other hand... Well, Sanemi assumed that he'd be alright at acting given that his face was always so irritatingly impassive. He'd assumed wrong, however, and eventually found that out.
In his attempt to fulfill Sanemi's wishes to not get the word spread out—and Giyuu was dreading the time when Shinobu would find out—Giyuu kept up the act for a good couple weeks. But, since Sanemi would act a lot more affectionate with him, he was less and less used to the previously usual aggression shown to him by his boyfriend (in public) as the days past.
Needless to say, Giyuu was the reason they were exposed. Which unfortunately happened in front of the whole Hashira—right before one of their biannual meetings with Kagaya.
×××
Giyuu had entered the garden a few minutes after Sanemi, on the opposite side, not wanting to cause suspicion. He stood by a tree quietly as the other Hashira trickled in.
Mitsuri bounded up to him, talking about something he wasn't necessarily listening to, his gaze set on Sanemi who was trying to obscure Obanai's eyes from seeing that Mitsuri was talking to another man.
Supposedly noticing the gaze, Sanemi looked up and glared at Giyuu, raising an eyebrow as if to tell him to snap out of it.
Shinobu noticed this.
"Ara ara, are you two fighting again? I'm surprised you haven't shouted at him yet, Shinazugawa," Shinobu commented, a sly smile forming upon her lips.
Sanemi rolled his eyes. "Shut the fuck up, Kocho."
"No need to be so harsh," Shinobu tutted, crossing her arms and shaking her head disapprovingly.
Gyomei agreed. "And please refrain from swearing."
Mitsuri had stopped talking, looking from one Hashira to the other.
Tengen laughed. "Well, there's been a lot less tension between Tomioka and the dog," he remarked, grinning at Sanemi.
"WHAT DOG?!?!" Sanemi shouted, stalking over to Tengen.
Obanai rolled his eyes. "Stop shouting."
Giyuu stood watching everything and wondering if he should speak given that he seemed to be apart of this argument. "What dog?"
Sanemi pointed at Giyuu, though he faced Tengen. "SEE?? THERE IS NO FUCKING DOG."
Gyomei frowned. "Do not shout, you will disturb the Master."
Sanemi let out a breath. "Fine."
Giyuu walked over to where Sanemi and Tengen stood. "Is Shinazugawa the dog?" he asked quietly.
Sanemi let out a gritted scream, looking ready to explode. Tengen looked equally like a timed bomb at its last second, although for completely different reasons.
"I'MNOTADOG!!!" Sanemi screeched, grabbing Giyuu by the shoulders and shaking him.
Giyuu ducked down, stepping away from Sanemi. "Okay."
Gyomei let out the longest sigh in history as Shinobu supressed a laugh.
"My, my, you're talking a lot today, Tomioka-San!" she said, looking up at him.
"Oh."
Sanemi rolled his eyes. "Well he should stop talking, he sounds like Uzui when his wives get a paper scratch," he said, crossing his arms.
"Is that supposed to be an insult?!" Tengen gasped, looking mildly offended.
"You're the one panicking when they so much as cough!!! You're all 'OH NO ARE YOU OKAY?! Nooo, KOCHO HELP ME!! DON'T DIE ON ME, PLEASE DON'T DIE ON ME—'" Sanemi said, pitching his voice higher.
Giyuu frowned. "I don't sound like that," he and Tengen said in unison—although Tengen with a considerably larger amount of theatrical flair.
"Oh yes you do! And I mean both of you!" Sanemi said, placing his hands on his hips.
Gyomei shook his head and went to go stand next to Muichiro who was staring at a beetle in his hand.
"...I do?" Giyuu whined.
Tengen seemed to have gotten over it quite quickly and was completely unfazed now.
"And worse!" Sanemi said, a mocking smile curving his lips.
Giyuu bit his lip, looking down.
Obanai sighed.
"The fuck are you looking at??" Sanemi asked, raising an eyebrow at Giyuu who wouldn't meet his eyes.
Tengen's mouth curved into an 'o' and he backed away quickly, whispering loudly to Kyojuro, "Shinazugawa just made Tomioka cry-"
"He cries??" Kyojuro whispered back, seeming to think they were actually being quiet.
Tengen shrugged and leaned against a tree, watching.
"...Why are you crying-" Sanemi said, fighting the concern that rose in himself. "You a baby???"
Giyuu looked up at him, pouting, unwilling to respond.
"Ara ara, looks like you shouldn't have said that about his voice! I would be offended as well if you compared my voice to Uzui's," Shinobu said, shooting a mischevious look at Tengen who appeared wounded.
Sanemi frowned. "It wasn't even that bad of an insult," he scoffed, trying with all his might to make Giyuu act fine without saying anything.
Giyuu sniffed loudly, ignoring Sanemi. He promptly turned away, stomping to the back of the garden and crossing his arms, acting as if he was waiting for Kagaya.
"Oooohhh-" Tengen said, a tone of amusement entering his voice. "I didn't know Tomioka could be so petty."
Shinobu raised an eyebrow. "Neither that he could be so affected by what Shinazugawa said."
Sanemi, fed up, sighed and stalked towards Giyuu, pulling him into a hug. "Giyuu, I didn't mean shit, I like your voice, okay??" he murmured, placing a kiss on Giyuu's nose. "Don't ignore me."
Giyuu seemed to brighten up instantly—which made Sanemi irritated because it had probably been an act then—and nodded. "Okay!"
"...ARE YOU TWO FINALLY DATING-" Kyojuro said, much too loudly.
"I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO!!!" Shinobu shouted triumphantly.
Obanai shook his head with a sigh. "Well it was going to get out sooner or later."
Sanemi shot a glare at them. "Oh, fuck off."
Giyuu rested his head on Sanemi's shoulder, a small smile playing on his face.
×××
"I thought we agreed to keep it a secret..." Sanemi whined, as he and Giyuu were on their way back home.
"I'm sorrryyy," Giyuu said, pouting.
"Mmmhmm, well, I'm not giving you cuddles for three weeks now!" Sanemi told him, quickening his pace.
"WHAT?? NO-" Giyuu shouted, chasing after him.
Sanemi laughed, turning and abruptly stopping Giyuu, placing a kiss on his cheek. "I told you to work on differentiating a joke from a serious comment, Giyuu."
"...Well I'm trying!" Giyuu insisted, huffing. "...you're not going to take away my cuddles, are you?"
"No. That would be taking away my own, anyways. But! I'm still not letting you off. Which means I'm not making you salmon daikon for the rest of the week," Sanemi said, dragging Giyuu down the road.
"Awh..." Giyuu whined, trotting after Sanemi.
"Be glad it's Friday."
××× (this last part is completely random and has nothing to do with anything but I js wanted to write this)
Sanemi pushed Giyuu down, pinning him to the floor. He fit his lips to Giyuu's, closing his eyes. Legs wrapped around his waist as Giyuu clung onto him and Sanemi tangled his hand in the tangled mess of his boyfriend's hair, pulling him deeper into the kiss.
"Sa...nemi," Giyuu breathed between kisses, his face dusted in pink.
Sanemi pulled back, letting him breathe. "Yes?" he murmured, resting his lips upon Giyuu's forehead in a gentle kiss.
"I love you," Giyuu said quietly, his arms tightening their embrace around Sanemi's torso.
Sanemi smiled. "I love you most," he said, pulling Giyuu back into a kiss.
"Tha's... not fair...!" Giyuu whined, trying to avoid the kisses.
"Mhmm, I'm not fair at all then?" Sanemi said, peppering Giyuu's jaw with kisses.
"Nooo..."
Sanemi laughed. "Do you not love me, then?"
"I love you!" Giyuu insisted, turning back and catching a kiss on his bottom lip.
"Love you too, darling."
"this is nice..."
you watched as giyuu folded his arms over a warm stone in the onsen, resting his head above, "mhm", he agreed. it's rare to see him so relaxed, given his excruciating occupation - his face graced with a little smile and hair untied, flowing over his shoulders. you made your way over to him and started curling a damp strand around your finger, humming a low, gentle tune.
it was quiet, your breathing mixed with the sound of water. a drop fell from your lover's hair, down to his collarbones and you couldn't help yourself pressing a kiss there, resting your head on his shoulder. "what d'you think they got for dinner, love?" giyuu chuckled at your question and trailed a finger down your spine in thought, making a "hmm" sound - "probably just kaiseki." you nodded, feeling his skin stick to your cheek.
slowly, giyuu guided you onto his lap, water splashing with your movements. he looked at you with a flushed face, a slighty clouded expression, but the love in his eyes clear as a spring. you breathed in, closed your eyes and pressed your lips against his soft ones. a pleased sigh left him as you cupped his cheek, skin warm and wet from the onsen. "won't somebody notice?" you grinned cheekily, whispering in his ear. "I don't care..." giyuu responded in his characteristic nonchalant tone, kissing your neck. "I want you."
Fumbled
Giyuu Tomioka x He/Him Reader
A/N: Shinobu for best friend award. Here you go, hope you enjoy it! Word Count: 4,794
“That mission was exceedingly simple, don’t you think, Tomioka-san?” Shinobu flicked the demon blood off of her sword and sheathed it, turning to Giyuu who stood with his back mostly towards her looking as broody as always. “I think you could’ve been just fine on your own, then I could have stayed home. No offense, but I have more important things to do than you do, you understand.”
Giyuu inhaled deeply through his nose and gave Shinobu his famous thousand yard stare, but she was not phased in the slightest, falling in step beside him when he started walking off without her.
“Well, the night is still young and it feels like it’s been forever since I’ve gotten to talk to a brick wall so let’s go eat somewhere in town. I know you never go out, so you have plenty of money to pay for the both of us, right?” Shinobu half teased. She had treated Mitsuri the day before and her wallet was going to be a little light until her next payday. Not that she was ever actually strapped for cash, however.
While they made the trek back into town, Giyuu let Shinobu talk his ear off, sometimes even acknowledging whatever she said with one word answers or grunts of indifference. He wasn’t feeling conversation even more than usual. He had been having trouble sleeping again. Imposter syndrome was a bitch.
And though Shinobu was ribbing him pretty good at present, he was appreciative of her presence. It made it hard for his brain to travel down certain trails of thought that he didn’t want to go down.
“Ooo, I’ve never been here before.”
Giyuu looked up at the building Shinobu stopped in front of and froze. It was an ordinary restaurant for the most part, but they did boast a few western style cuisine for the more adventurous. How did Giyuu know this? It wasn’t from the eye-catching signs, no, he had aimlessly wandered in after a tough mission a few months ago. One of the best meals of his life. So warm and comforting and…
He could not bring himself to go back in there, not after last time.
“Let’s try this place out!”
Shinobu began dragging Giyuu in, but he dug in his heels, making Shinobu turn back to look at him with eyebrows slightly arched. Though he was bigger than her, he often let Shinobu drag him around like a limp doll, so to plant himself now was exceedingly odd and of course Shinobu wasn’t going to let it go.
“What’s this about, Tomioka-san?” Shinobu nudged his foot with hers. “Did you forget how to walk?”
“It’s crowded.” Giyuu argued, saying the first excuse that came to mind.
Shinobu looked back into the open door of the shop, seeing maybe five patrons tops and the soft noise made it even more evident that it was anything but crowded.
“It’s an off meal time, most people don’t eat this late. The only logical explanation for you thinking there are so many people must be that you are so hungry that your vision is blurring. You must be starving, Tomioka-san.” Shinobu pulls him harder, trying to get him to budge, “Come on, Tomioka-san, don’t be so stubborn!”
“We can go to the same place we always go when we’re in this district.”
“You have to start broadening your horizons!” Shinobu countered, not giving up. “Open yourself up to new experiences!”
They stood in front of the restaurant playing tug of war until someone approached them from behind.
“Giyuu! Long time no see!”
Both Shinobu and Giyuu’s heads swiveled to look behind them, finding a young man with a bright smile and a crate full of potatoes in his arms.
“And you even brought a friend, thanks for the business.” He winked, walking past them towards the warm light of the restaurant. He turned back to them slightly to flick his head towards the entryway, motioning for them to follow, “come on in, I’ll take really good care of you.”
“Ohhhh…” Shinobu’s lips spread into a small, impish grin and her eyes danced with mischief as she looked between Giyuu and the doorway the other man had just gone through.
“Don’t.” Giyuu warned, actually managing to deliver the word with a bit of aggression. “Don’t say a word.”
Shinobu put her hands up in mock defense. “My lips are sealed. Let’s go have a nice meal, okay? That kind man is expecting us after all. It would be very rude to turn tail and leave now.”
Giyuu bit his inner cheek and reluctantly followed Shinobu inside. His heart lurched uncomfortably in his chest seeing the other man’s bright smile once he dropped the potato crate off at the kitchen and came back to seat them.
The man rattled off the menu and offered to get them drinks, giving Shinobu his name when she asked.
“He’s nice.” Shinobu commented when (Y/n) walked off to get their drinks. “I think he’d be good for you. At the very least he would balance out your perpetual gloom.”
“You’re reading this all wrong.” Giyuu muttered.
“Mmmm, Nope. I could see you wandering into a restaurant on your own once in a blue moon, but to have come into one often enough that the staff would know your name is no coincidence. Even you can’t get in your own way enough to stay away from someone you really, really like it would seem.” Shinobu teased.
“Just drop it, will you?” Giyuu groaned. “It’s not going to happen.”
“Not with that attitude. Unless you already tested the waters, which I know you didn’t.”
“Can you not make this any worse for me than it already is?”
“Oh please—“
“And here is your tea, fresh and hot!” (Y/n) startled them both with his appearance. “Have you decided on what you’d like to eat?”
“I’d like to try the potato and cabbage croquettes, please.” Shinobu answered.
“Great choice,” (Y/n) nodded and then turned his attention to Giyuu. Shinobu swore she saw his smile get a little bigger as he did, “and salmon daikon for you, Giyuu? I hope you don’t mind, I was so sure you’d ask for it, that I already asked the chef to prepare it for you.”
Shinobu gave Giyuu an intrigued side-eyed glance, which Giyuu did his best to ignore.
“Thank you.” He mumbled in reply, head bowed.
“It’s my pleasure.” (Y/n) grinned, “Glad to have you back after so long. I hope Kochou-san can convince you to come around more often, so we’ll put extra care into those croquettes too of course.” He winked.
“My, thank you!” Shinobu pressed her hands together, “I’ll certainly hold up my end of the bargain if you hold up yours.” Her eyes twinkled, cementing Giyuu’s concern that Shinobu was about to meddle with his non-existent love life yet again.
“Great! I’ll get the order in right away.” (Y/n) weaved around the tables towards the kitchen, periodically turning back so he could glance back at Giyuu. He was looking forward to seeing those gloomy eyes light up when the flavorful salmon the chef was preparing met his taste buds. His heart skipped a beat when Giyuu’s eyes were still trained on him from across the room. When he turned for the last time upon reaching the kitchen. He waved his fingers coyly, before disappearing inside.
“You’ve been holding out on me again, Tomioka-san.” Shinobu teased.
“Drop it, Kochou.” Giyuu warned lucklusterly.
“I think not,” she shook her head, “he seems nice, more than that, he’s definitely interested in you. Ask him out!”
Giyuu inhaled deeply through his nose, “I tried last time I was here, it was a disaster.”
“Of that I am certain, but how did you mess it up this time?” She asked.
“So you can remind me about it every time I see you? No.”
“Fair point, but whatever you did clearly wasn’t as awful as you thought it was because he nearly bumped into three tables to glance back at you just now.”
“He’s probably just marveling at the audacity I have to come back here.” He sank in his seat.
Shinobu sighed, “That is not the face he was making, and you know it. I don’t know how you think you messed it up before, but I’m here now and if I have to hold your hand through this as I already have to do so often, then so be it.”
“Don’t.”
“Yoo-hoo, (Y/n)-san!” Shinobu called once she noticed him come back through the kitchen door. “If you aren’t too busy, you should sit with us, catch up with Tomioka-san.”
“You don’t have t—“ Giyuu was cut short by both (Y/n)’s reply as well as Shinobu stomping none too gently on his toes.
“Sounds great! Just let me take care of these guys first and I’ll be right over.” His voice was brimming with genuine excitement.
“What are you doing?” Giyuu hissed as soon as (Y/n) was preoccupied with the other table.
“Setting you up. Giving you something else to focus on instead of your moping. Come on, it won’t kill you to socialize a bit at least, and I know you could use the practice.”
“What am I doing with you right now? Isn’t that enough?”
“It hardly counts when I have to do ninety-eight percent of the effort in maintaining communication, Tomioka-san. Now look a little more friendly, he’s coming over.”
Giyuu managed a half smile that looked more like a grimace and Shinobu stepped on his foot again.
“You look like a serial killer when you smile like that. Just act like yourself, but also approachable.”
“You’re asking for two very conflicting things.”
Shinobu stepped on his foot again and (Y/n) made it over to their table and took a seat.
“So!” He clapped his hands together, “How have you been doing, Giyuu?”
“Fine.”
Shinobu gave him a sharp smile.
“And… how about you?”
“Been pretty good!” He replied cheerfully. “It can get pretty slow at times though, especially night shift, but I like the night shift.”
“What do you like about it?” Giyuu asked, mildly curious.
“Well,” (Y/n)’s eyes glinted and his smile tugged a little further on one side, “because… when you do come by, it’s only ever been at night and I’d hate to miss you.”
Though his expression remained largely impassive, Giyuu’s heart convulsed and against the negative little voice within his head’s wishes, a little part of him was beginning to think he hadn’t been as awkward the last time he as he thought he was. Maybe he actually did have a chance.
“What a sweet sentiment!” Shinobu spoke up before Giyuu’s dumbfounded silence could get too awkward. “Very charming, isn’t he, Tomioka-san?”
“…sure.”
Giyuu was ready for Shinobu’s foot this time and blocked, but didn’t have time to counter the fist that thwacked his knee and he winced, but fortunately (Y/n) only chuckled at his lackluster response.
“So chill, that’s one of the things that I like about you.” (Y/n) drummed his fingers against the table, seemingly debating for a moment whether or not to ask something, but he bit the bullet and put it out there. “So um, Kochou-san, how long have you and Giyuu known each other?“
“Oh, I’ve suffered through knowing Tomioka-san for some time now. We work together you know, it’s quite tiring. How glad I am that I don’t have to spend anymore time with him than that.” She said, making sure to let (Y/n) know that she and Giyuu weren’t dating in the most unnecessarily harsh way. “In other words, I’m his best friend!” She beamed, sweetly. What a way to cushion the blow.
“Oh, haha, seems like he’s lucky to have you.” (Y/n) chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. “If you need help Giyuu, just blink twice.”
“Thanks.” Giyuu spoke with a trace amount of warmth in his tone.
“Just some friendly ribbing, no one needs to worry.” Shinobu assured, putting her hands up in mock defense. But Giyuu’s foot would day otherwise. “How about you tell us more about yourself, (Y/n)-san.”
Shinobu’s love could be harsh, but she was being one hell of a wingman. She filled the dead air, kept the conversation moving, pointed out similarities between the two and would prompt Giyuu to tell certain stories relating to the topics that were brought up. Things were going very well.
(Y/n) left for a little bit to take care of a couple of tables and retrieve their food from the kitchen, giving Shinobu and Giyuu time to regroup.
“What did I tell you, Tomioka-san? This is all going quite well, hm?” Shinobu grinned.
Giyuu took in a deep breath, than exhaled audibly, nodding his head once“…it is. Surprisingly, it is.”
“Wonderful!” She pats him on the back, “Then I’ll leave the rest to you!”
“Huh?”
“(Y/n)-san can have the croquettes I ordered. I’m sure I’ll have the opportunity to try them again sometime soon. Enjoy the rest of your night, Tomioka-san!”
“Kochou—“
She was gone on a breeze, leaving Giyuu’s hand frozen midair with nothing to grab. Giyuu felt a sense of dread wash over him, his security blanket was gone, he had to get out of here—
“And here we are, salmon daikon and potato cabbage croquettes.” (Y/n) slid the dishes onto the table, smiling, then titled his head to the side when he noticed Shinobu was no longer at the table. “Where did Kochou-san go?”
Giyuu opened his mouth, but he couldn’t seem to get any words out. He was ruining it again. Why did Shinobu have to ditch him? It had been going so well—
“Hey,” (Y/n) put his hand on top of Giyuu’s, making him jolt and meet his warm, concerned eyes, “you okay?”
Giyuu took a couple deep breaths and slowly nodded his head, (Y/n) gave his hand a slight squeeze that made Giyuu’s touch-starved heart quake. For better or for worse, he let go soon after, but then took the seat that had been Shinobu’s beside Giyuu.
“I think I get it. Well, you don’t have to worry about it. I’m not a scary guy, right?” He asked.
Honestly, in this situation, Giyuu would be less scared fighting demons. However, he managed another quick nod. He found his nerves about the situation to be pitiful, but he couldn’t help it. He was also pissed at Shinobu for slipping away to make him handle this on his own. She was such a hypocrite, trying to set him up with someone every so often only for her to slip off to her lab by herself. She was just as romantically challenged as he was, just in a different way. If Giyuu had the courage to flip the tables on Shinobu, he would in a second. That’s probably why she pulled things like this, because she new he wouldn’t know how to begin to give her a taste of her own medicine.
It was a shame, Giyuu really like this guy, but without Shinobu to pick up the slack, it was only a matter of time before (Y/n) realized he was wasting his time.
“Welp, somebody’s gotta eat these. The chef will be disappointed if they go to waste.” (Y/n) took one for himself and offered another to Giyuu. “I know you’re all about the salmon, but wanna try one?”
Giyuu gripped his knee hard, blunt fingernails digging into the tough fabric of his uniform. Despite this, his expression remained cool and seemingly unbothered by anything once he finally uttered a quiet acceptance for the fried ball. He pushed his shallow bowl over, expecting (Y/n) to add it to his meal, but the chopsticks stayed near mouth level and (Y/n) grinned.
“Take a bite then, it’s really good!” He held the chopsticks a little closer to Giyuu’s mouth.
Giyuu didn’t know what to do. Did (Y/n) really want to feed him by hand? Oh gods, he had never prepared for something like this in even his wildest daydreams, what should he do?!
“Don’t worry, my grip is solid. I won’t let it fall apart on you.” (Y/n) assured.
Oh man… he’s too goddamn sweet.
Giyuu felt his body move forward to close the distance of its own accord. That was fine, he appreciated the auto-poorly engaging while his brain’s transmission turned to static. At least, he appreciated it until he realized he had leaned away from the croquette, passing it by to get lean towards (Y/n)’s face, uncomfortably close. He could see every endearing feature, smell the medley of delicious food and an undercurrent of jasmine and sweat from working in the hot restaurant. The space only seemed to be getting hotter to Giyuu the further he leaned in.
He could probably count every eyelash (Y/n) had he was so close now. Close enough he could no longer take in the surprised expression (Y/n) adorned the moment Giyuu passed up the croquette. He was only a breath away from his lips when his hand gripped the opposite edge of the table in a death grip, it startled (Y/n) and a few of the lingering patrons with how sudden and loud the sound was.
Giyuu then used that hand to claw his way back into the metaphorical ledge, regaining the distance he had nearly closed. He saw (Y/n)’s dumbstruck expression and simply couldn’t stay put a moment longer
“I have to go.” He mumbled, quickly throwing a hefty pile of money on the table and hastily making his exit.
“Giyuu, wait! Hey! At least take your salmon! C-come back soon, okay? Don’t be a stranger! I mean it! I swear!” (Y/n) called after him. He had ran to the street as quick as he could, but Giyuu’s mis-matched haori was already disappearing into the distance. “Damn it…” he sighed, his back hit the wall of the building and he slid down to the ground. He looked back in the direction Giyuu had ran in and sighed. “I really hope you come back again… don’t leave me wondering if I’ll ever see you again. At the very least, be safe out there.”
Giyuu berated himself internally when he finally slowed down. He leaned on the trunk of a tree and pounded the side of his fist against it with one hard thud. He could never go back, there was no way. Last time he had thought he made a fool out of himself for brushing away some flour from the other man’s cheek the last time he hand been there, but to go in for a kiss without asking or ever inviting him to somewhere outside of his work was completely inexcusable to Giyuu. He could never recover from that.
If it was up to Giyuu, he’d never return. Fortunately for both men, Shinobu was not going to let it end this way.
Of course she found out about Giyuu’s lapse in judgement. She wanted nothing more than to read him the riot act, not for almost crossing a boundary, but for not crossing it. Did he seriously mot see those puppy eyes that (Y/n) had trained on him? She had all manner of barbs and jabs to aim at the man, but she decided to hold off. It had already damaged Giyuu’s psyche enough forcing the details of what occurred after she left out of him.
It was usually at this point that she’d wash her hands of the matter and start fresh, but she could see how infatuated (Y/n) seemed to be with her gloomy friend and she’d be damned if they didn’t have one good and honest outing. So like any good best friend would, she went back to the restaurant as soon as she could and asked for (Y/n)’s whereabouts. If her advice and mentoring was only going to roll off of Giyuu like water off a duck’s back, then maybe she’d try her luck scheming with the other half of this potential pair. Judging by how relieved (Y/n) was when he saw her, he would be a more than willing participant.
***
Giyuu blinked against the harsh brightness of the sun. The weather did not match his gloom. All he wanted to do was rot away in his home until his next mission, but Shinobu had told him his allotted time for mourning over his interpersonal flub was over.
She had slipped into his estate, yanked off his blankets and forcefully rolled him out of his bed, demanding him to bathe and put on something casual for a day out. All the while she berated him through the bathroom door about his lack of decor.
When he finally emerged from the bathroom, Shinobu scoffed and brushed past him to get a towel to dry his hair more and brush out all the tangles. At that point, Giyuu should have guessed something was up. It’s not like Shinobu was ever that concerned about his appearance normally. As long as he bathed and didn’t look ill, she was usually content, but little did he know today’s activity was more than a simple mental health walk.
He dragged his feet along, following Shinobu through the winding path to a large footbridge, various people milling about and going on about there day, many of which seemed to be couples. Giyuu stopped walking to look down at the clear, shallow water below. Even the fish seemed to be swimming in pairs. Must be nice.
“Today is a nice day, isn’t it, Tomioka-san?” Shinobu asked, poking him in the ribs.
“Hm.” He grunted.
Shinobu rolled her eyes. “You know what would make it even better?”
“Hm.”
“Hey Giyuu...”
Giyuu looked up from the water, his head swiveled quickly to the left. Leaning against the wooden guard rail of the bridge was (Y/n), a small bouquet of flowers in his hands and a sheepish smile on his lips. It felt foreign to Giyuu to see that man without his tenugui and apron. It almost felt like something he wasn’t meant to see and given that the young man was holding flowers, Giyuu didn’t think he wanted to see (Y/n) right now.
Who were those flowers for? Did he have someone special this whole time, or was this a new development? He knew he had no right to be jealous, but that didn’t stop him from developing a bitter taste in his mouth.
(Y/n) stepped forward coming to a stop right beside Giyuu. The Hashira attempted to back away, but Shinobu gripped the back of his kimono, keeping him in place.
“Listen,” (Y/n) started softly, “I wanna be upfront with you. I don’t want to leave any doubt in your mind that, that I want this too. I- I think you’re really cool and when I saw you smile the first time you ate that salmon daikon, I just about melted through the floorboards. Kochou-san and I talked and she told me that you like me too and that your nervous. I totally get it, but if you’d let me take the lead, maybe we could do something together today.” He presented the flowers to Giyuu, “I saw the color scheme of this bouquet and it made me think of you. I hope you like them.”
Giyuu stared blankly at the flowers in the man’s hands. No one had ever given him flowers before. Well, Tsutako had picked wildflowers with him when he was little and Shinobu had gifted him a house plant that immediately died under his care, but those instances were different. This was a baring of one man’s heart to another.
“…You want to do something with me?”
“Tomioka-san,” Shinobu nearly groaned, “of course he does! Now go on, accept the flowers and tell him what you think about them.”
Shinobu had to hold herself back from puppeting Giyuu’s hands around the bouquet. Fortunately, a little nudge seemed to do the trick just fine. Giyuu stumbled forward a little and his hands encased (Y/n)’s their eyes locked and (Y/n) smiled a little wider, causing Giyuu’s hands to squeeze his just a little tighter, seemingly on reflex.
“I… like them a lot. Really, thank you.”
Giyuu didn’t feel like those words were enough. They felt too simple for how much he appreciated the gesture, but (Y/n) seemed to get excited by the response, eagerly transferring the flowers to Giyuu and grasped his hands instead.
“I’m glad.” He said with great sincerity and relief, making Giyuu’s heart swell.
After a couple moments, Shinobu cleared her throat, “Well, I trust I can take my leave now. Unless you’re thinking of running off again, Tomioka-san. So help me, if you flee this kind man again, I will hunt you down and sedate you.” Her tone was playful, but Giyuu didn’t want to test if she was bluffing or not.
Shinobu patted (Y/n) arm as she passed. “Have a good time, and remember what we talked about.”
Along with the advice and scheming Shinobu generously supplied, she made sure that (Y/n) understood that if he hurt Giyuu in any way, sedation would be a wonderful gift in comparison.
“Of course, Kocho-san. Thank you for all of your help.”
With a satisfied nod, Shinobu then went on her way, leaving the men to their own devices.
“So,” (Y/n) cleared his throat, “If you’re hungry, I got a spot set up under that tree by the water over there.”
Giyuu turned his head to see a nice set up away from the bustling activity on the footbridge. It looked like a lot of thought and care went into its construction.
“You didn’t get to eat your salmon last time we were together, so I made sure to pack double.” He dropped one hand to his side and gently pulled Giyuu off of the bridge.
“You didn’t need to go through the trouble.” Giyuu walked beside him, acutely aware of how nice it felt to hold someone’s hand.
“It’s no trouble besides,” he grins, “to see that smile on your face, makes it all worthwhile.”
Giyuu felt warmth spread throughout his body and a small smile curled at his lips. He started walking a little closer to (Y/n) then, becoming a bit braver. Maybe, just maybe, he was truly worthy of this. Could he be selfish and allow himself this one good thing after everything that had happened in his life? Shinobu would probably give him a couple jabs in the ribs if she heard his tentative thoughts, but instead it was (Y/n) pulling him down to the portable picnic table by the flowing water that took him away from his thoughts.
They quietly conversed and ate. Giyuu found himself surprisingly calm this time around. He felt at peace. They sat together and watched the cherry blossoms float down the river. Well, (Y/n) was watching. Giyuu was preoccupied with staring at his companion instead. With a surge of courage, he leaned over and softly kissed the other man’s cheek.
“Thank you.” He murmured, then slowly straightened, only for (Y/n)’s hand to pull him back in from the nape of Giyuu’s neck, their foreheads pressed together.
“I’m having a good time too. Thank you for giving me a chance to do this with you. Do you think… we could meet up more often?” He asked hopefully.
“Yeah.” Giyuu exhaled and nodded, “My duties keep me busy on most nights, but I would like to.”
(Y/n) smiled, though Giyuu couldn’t see it from how close they were, he could see how (Y/n)’s eyes lit up. He soon straightened however, giving Giyuu the full view.
“You let me know when you want to meet up. Any day, any night, rain or shine. Here,” He pulled a piece of paper from his kimono and gave it to Giyuu, “It’s directions to my home. Come by whenever you want. I mean it.”
Giyuu took the paper and gently folded it. He secured it with his own kimono. Once he did that, (Y/n) cleared his throat.
“So you know how you almost kissed me the last time?” He rubbed the back of his neck, looking a little flustered. “I just have not been able to stop thinking about it and I know this is only our first outing but if you wanted to as well—“
Giyuu leaned forward, meeting the other man’s lips in a chaste, yet somehow, almost bruising kiss.
“Was that alright?” Giyuu mumbled once he pulled back.
(Y/n) grinned, lips buzzing. The kiss was stiff, but he had no doubt Giyuu would get better once he was more comfortable. If he just let himself go like he almost did at the restaurant that night, they would be absolutely golden.
“For our first kiss, it was perfect.” He spoke softly, then leaned in for another.
THE WATER PILLAR.
TW! none.
fluff! centric.
t. giyuu x gn. reader.
his visage, seemingly untouched by the passage of time, betrays no hint of emotion—the enigmatic water pillar.
BEHOLD THE AQUEOUS HASHIRA—a figure of immense might, an indomitable slayer of demons, perpetually adorned with an unfaltering countenance.
how could someone of such chilling detachment find himself entangled in a circumstance so imbued with romance?
nay, it is a marvel beyond comprehension, a convergence of fate's whims and the questionable allure that resides within the depths of his icy soul.
through a gentle fade-in, the enchanting scene unfurls, unveiling a resplendent day bathed in the amenity of the sun.
the cerulean celesta stretched overhead, adorned with wisps of clouds, while a tranquil zephyr tenderly caresses the surroundings.
within this vast expanse, a lone little bird frolics merrily, its mellifluous melody imbuing the air with a dulcet serenade.
as the camera gradually pans out, a picturesque panorama, an embodiment of flawlessness in every intricate detail, is unveiled before our captured gaze.
drawing nearer to the glistening waters, our attention shifts to a youthful man.
perched at the water's edge, he immerses himself in the splendor of the vista, his senses enraptured by the lulling ambiance. in the embrace of the sun's affectionate rays, he discovers solace, a fleeting interlude of tranquil contemplation amidst the idyllic backdrop.
the water pillar—unburdened by the weight of his arduous duties and responsibilities—reclined in a state of serenity, his form motionless.
with closed eyes, he absorbed the resplendence of nature, inhaling deeply the magnificence that surrounded him, allowing his strained body to surrender to this wondrous respite.
simultaneously, his countenance underwent a subtle transformation—as the lines upon his face softened, lending an air of tranquility to his undeniably attractive visage.
a light breeze—as tender as a lover's touch—caressed his skin, while a subtle intuition alerted him to a presence drawing near.
yet, despite his awareness of this newcomer, he remained unmoved, neither acknowledging nor negating their existence.
instead, a sense of ease seemed to envelop him even more, as if the arrival of this individual brought him peace beyond measure.
his ears—acutely attuned to the symphony of the ambience—caught the faintest sound of leaves crunching underfoot, and he felt the grass swaying in response to the leisurely descent of the person settling beside him.
without the need to open his eyes, he could discern the identity of this newcomer, for the aura of familiar solace they emanated was unmistakable.
this atmospheric comfort—unique to this individual alone—could be recognized by him effortlessly, irrespective of place, day, or hour.
yet, it was not solely due to the rarity of those who would dare to engage with him on a consistent basis—although, in truth, that may have played a small part.
no, the deeper truth lies in the fact that this person—in particular—held a profound and irreplaceable position within the very core of his being.
the faintest of curls quivered upon the corners of his lips, a benevolent ripple of emotion that danced with an elliptical grace.
perplexed—he, too—struggled to grasp the intricate workings of this phenomenon, to comprehend the why and the how.
yet, amidst the muddled confusion, one thing remained undeniable—this inexplicable connection felt inherently right.
in your presence, he found a sense of belonging, a sanctuary where authenticity flourished. it was as if, in the embrace of your essence, he had finally returned home.
it was a pleasantly overwhelming sensation, a profound knowing that resonated deep within his soul.
everything about it felt undeniably right, as if the cosmic forces had conspired to orchestrate this union.
despite his reluctance to venture into new connections, deep within the recesses of his soul, a tender whisper of destiny caressed his spirit.
it softly insinuated that, against all odds, this particular connection may have been divinely orchestrated, as if written in the stars.
though his heart hesitated, a flicker of curiosity danced within him, beckoning him to explore the uncharted realms of this potential bond. for there was an undeniable appeal in the possibility that fate had woven their paths together, guiding them towards an extraordinary rendezvous.
in the face of his reservations, the tempting possibility of this preordained connection shimmered like a distant beacon, inviting him to embrace the untrodden path and discover the radical depths of what was meant to be.
it was as if the universe itself had guided their paths to intersect, to intertwine in perfect harmony.
within the adoring embrace of their presence, the water pillar—giyuu tomioka, forever adorned with stoicism and guarded walls—unearthed a momentary seclusion, a harbor of belonging, and an unwavering sense of being unequivocally at home.
in their company, his guarded façade melted away, revealing vulnerabilities long concealed.
in their presence, he discovered a retreat where he could unapologetically be himself, where the weight of his burdens was shared, and where his heart, and mind alike, found solace in the rhythm of their shared existence.
they became the anchor that grounded him, the guiding light that illuminated his path, encapsulating him in a laconic embrace that declared—
you were the sanctuary he had long sought, the haven where the water pillar's soul found its rest.
Giyu Tomioka | risk & reward
Tumblr media
‼️‼️🔞‼️‼️NSFW‼️‼️🔞‼️‼️
Giyu's strong hands start kneading my shoulders, rousing me further awake. He massages his down the length of my torso. His fingertips graze the sides of my breasts that spill out of the sides of my bikini as he runs his hands back up again, enticing a pleased moan from me.
"God your hands feel so good Giyu."
I start to get the feeling he's not just trying to help me relax. He knows how his touch affects me. My suspicion is confirmed as his hands wander a little further down, squeezing the soft flesh around my hips and his thumbs pressing into the dimples of my back.
I can't stop myself from getting turned on. I look around scanning the area for any wandering eyes and then peek over my shoulder.
Giyu leans over me and whispers in my ear, "Shhh..."
Before I  can respond, he sits back again, massaging hungrily over my behind with his thumbs applying pressure to the sweet spot just under my cheeks. I shove my ass into his hands more, inviting him to let his hands keep exploring.
"Mmmmm... I like that." I moan to him.
"You're going to get us caught" he teases.
His hands wander achingly close to my sex but he doesn't go there yet. A slickness gathers between my legs leaving my swim bottoms damp with my arousal. I  glance around again to see if anyone is watching, even though I probably wouldn't tell him to stop. The excitement of the moment outweighs any fear of being caught. Luckily, no one was close enough to even notice so I shut my eyes and let him play with my body some more.
Suddenly Giyu slips a hand into my swim bottoms and his thumb works the wetness around and around, winding me up into an anxious knot.
"Mmmmmm" I hum shuddering at his touch.
"Shhh. Stay quiet, remember."
Read the whole fanfic on my Wattpad ☺️
Water Hashira's Protector
Giyu Tomiyoka X Reader
Word Count: 767
Requested: Anon
Request: Tomioka Giyuu from demon slayer x s/o reader who's serious and chill like him but he's always hugging on to Giyuu, wrapping an arm around his waist, and defending him from the other Hashira?
Tumblr media
You had been friends with Giyu since you were young, he’d always been the quiet type and it became apparent to you that he wasn’t as socially smart as you'd first think so you made it your job to look after him when he needed it. You trained with him and passed the exam the same as him, at the time the position of Hashira was offered to both of you under the guise that you would both fight for it but you gave to him instead, you had never really wanted the position in the first place. When it came down to it you could have been whatever you wanted, you just decided to follow Giyu into the life of a demon slayer, well more aptly you decided to follow Giyu.
You were a little more aggressive than Giyu where he’s described as the gentle flow of a river, you're probably the turbulent undercurrent, they are lured in by Giyu and taken out by you. That’s not to say that Giyu isn’t good at what he does because he is but that was only when it came to demons, when humans were the ones that insulted or attacked him he became a little more reserved.
The Hashira were the worst for this, they all seemed to gang up on him or just talk behind his back so that was when you turned your anger on them, you could hold your own against them in a fight and they all seemed to forget that but you never did.
It was yet another meeting that the master had allowed you to attend due to the unique way that you and Giyu operated, the meeting itself went by without any issues but it was what happened after that caused issue, as they gathered together in a group while Giyu stood off to the otherside. “Hey Giyu!” Sanemi called over, you glanced at him out of the side of your eye but didn’t move from your place draped over him, your arm wrapped around his waist while your chin rested on your shoulder. “Yes?” He asked. “What’s with the weird fashion sense?” He asked, you tensed immediately, as your head snapped towards him. “Mind your own business.” You ordered as you looked at him. “How dare you-!?” “Don’t forget that I have the same chance of ending you as you do ending me.” You reminded him. “You think?” He asked drawing his sword. “Are you seriously violating the master's rules in his own home?” You asked detaching yourself from Giyu to step in front of him instead. “(Y/N) stop.” Giyu ordered tugging at your sleeve. “I’ll stop when he puts the sword away.” You promised. “Sanemi, is this necessary?” Shinbu asked. “These two need to be taught a lesson!” He pointed the sword inches from your face, you lifted your hand knocking the sword away from your face. “You really need a sword to do that?” You asked, he grit his teeth and stepped closer finally sheathing the sword. “Just wait until there’s no one around to protect you.” He said. “Until next time Wind Hashira.” You bowed before turning away from him.
Later that evening you were sitting with Giyu, you were eating “why do you do that?” He asked suddenly. “What?” You asked looking at your food and then touching your face to see if there was something on your face. “Fight everyone.” He added and your eyes widened in realisation as you looked at him and shrugged. “I want to protect you, you're my boyfriend after all, I’m not just going to stand there and listen to them question you about something that is close to your heart, you shouldn’t have to tell them if you don’t want to.” You explained. “What if I did?” He asked. “Did you?” You asked. “I…” “You want to tell them because you think that they will like you better but that’s not the case, I promise you if you told that story it would not change anything, just promise me if you decide to tell them about that or anything else you do it because you trust them rather than you want them to like you.” You pleaded. “I don’t need them to like me when I have you.” He said and you leaned over and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Good then eat up I’m sure they’ll send us out soon.” You reminded him and he nodded going back to his food as you looked at the sky waiting for the crows to call you to action.
A Little Longer
Tumblr media
IMAGINE: A LITTLE LONGER ~ GIYU X F!READER GENRE: FLUFF WARNINGS: NONE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sunlight filtered in the room causing the couple to wake up. The arms that were wrapped around (y/n) suddenly got tighter.  "Good morning." Giyu whispers and the girl grumbles pushing her head farther into his chest.  "I wish it wasn't morning."
Giyu lets out one of his rare small smiles.  "Why not?"  "Because that means I won't be able to lay with you any longer."
A small blush graces his cheeks. Her response was just too adorable.  "I don't want to get up just yet." (y/n) whispers gripping onto him tighter.  "We have to. There's a meeting we have to attend to."
(y/n) sighs hearing his words.  "Fine, we can get up. As long as you give me my good morning kiss."
Giyu sighs, a tired look coming across his face. He knows what game (y/n) is playing. Rather annoying actually, but it was one of the things he loved about her. Her childish little games. She does this to get her way. And right now, she wanted to lay with him a little longer.
"Fine." He says trying to lean down and plant a kiss on her lips. However, she buried her head farther into his chest, so his lips could get near her face.  Giggles were soon heard from her and her grip on him somehow got tighter.
Wanting to get this game done and over with, he twisted his leg around her waist and with his momentum he pushed (y/n) onto her back. Giyu was now straddling her hips. Quickly as he could he grabbed both of her wrist with both of his hands.
Her (e/c) eyes were wide, looking into his blue eyes. Her eyes filled with shock and she immediately started to shake her head.  "No! Not fair!" She whines, turning her head to the side.  That didn't stop Giyu though.
Switching hand, he put both of her hands into one hand and the other hand gripped her chin. Forcing her to look at him.
He could feel her try to fight against him, but he was just too strong.
Leaning down, he places his warm lips upon her own. Immediately she kissed back. The kiss didn't last long. He pulled away and released his grip on her.
"There, now you have to get up." He says but when he looked down at her, his heart basically stopped.
Her lips were formed into a pout and her eyes were glossy. She was using her pouty face to get him to succumb into her wishes. It worked every single time too.
"Fine, two more minutes." Giyu says laying back down again and pulling (y/n) into his chest. She immediately gripped onto him and bathed in his scent and warmth.
"That's fine. As long as I get to spend more time with you."
He didn't tell her about it and she's upset (I know I would be) they have an argument but then it gets resolved and NSFW/fluff etc follows. If its a lame request I get it I just love plot w/ some spice 😉
Thanks again! 💜💜💜
Ahh I love this!! Thank you for requesting this! I hope I don’t fail you, and I hope you enjoy this!
Warnings: NSFW and Fluff
Will contain: talks of wanting a baby, talks of Seppuku, this will be more of a loving nsfw that turns slightly tougher so it’s not gonna be toe curling like my others but here’s what it’ll contain just a little bit of 69, (cunnilingus and Fellatio). Nothing too major but still be 18+
Enjoy 💕
~~~~~~~~~~
“How stupid can you get?!” You screamed at him, your hair was a disheveled mess, your face and eyes puffy, dried tears stained your cheeks. Your husband, giyuu had just returned home from a mission.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
“How long were you going to wait until you told me what you’ve done!? Were you even going to tell me at all!? How could you!? And to think I had to learn from Sanemi out of all people!”
Your poor husband stood in the doorway of your shared home, a lost and concerned look plastered on his face.
“You’re willing to throw your whole life away over some- some demon you don’t even really know! Giyuu she’s a demon! They’re monsters! They can’t be trusted! I can’t believe what you did..” your chin started to tremble, a lump caught in your throat as you tried to continue to lecture him.
“I wanted to have a family with you, giyuu. I wanted to grow old with you, I wanted us to be together until we both died, and you’re willing to throw your life away..do I mean anything to you? Is this whole marriage one sided!?”
His heart tightened. Seeing you so distraught hurt him. “Y/n..I did what I did because I know nezuko won’t hurt another human. That day, when I ran into them on that mountain, she never tried to harm her brother, even though he was bleeding, she never dared to go near him in a vicious way. I’m not throwing my life away for nothing, I will grow old with you, I will be by your side until we die, because I won’t have to commit Seppuku.”
“But you don’t know 100% Giyuu!!” Your knees started to buckle as the flood gates finally opened, snot, and tears started to coat your face. Before you could fall, giyuu was quick to get to you, and hold you up.
“I love you so much giyuu it fucking hurts, it hurts so bad. And the fact you never told me about this hurts even more. What else are you hiding from me giyuu??”
Giyuu was quiet, he allowed you to scream and cry until you felt content. It’s the least he could do for not telling you about that. In his defense, when he told the master, he just started talking to you. But, he sees where you’re coming from, if you did something like that he would want to know so he could treat everyday with you like it was your last.
When you finally dialed down, giyuu finally spoke.
“…I want to have a baby too.”
“..what..?” You choked out, as you wiped your nose on the sleeve of your haori.
“You asked me if there was something else I was hiding from you. And the truth is, I want a baby too. I’ve wanted one for years..I just..didn’t want to bring it up so you didn’t feel pressure into having one.”
“Really..?”
A quick, and quiet yes was his response before putting a finger under your chin, lifting you slightly before capturing your lips with his.
It was a slow and sensual kiss, that didn’t last long, but had you wanting more.
“Why waste anymore time? We both want one, would you like to try for one?”
You nodded, butterflies quickly making their way into your stomach as he took your hand in his, and headed to the bedroom.
~~~~
It didn’t take much for the two of you to get into the mood, and before long, the room was filled with sounds of both of your groans and moans. His tongue exploring the inside of your pussy, making you slowly and gently ride his face. He enjoyed it. He enjoyed the idea of you getting off on just his tongue. He loved hearing your muffled gasp when his tongue would abuse your clit. He loved feeling when he did that of your legs quivering just a bit. But god did he love the feeling of your tongue abusing his tip. He loved the way you’d swirl your tongue around his tip, before taking him almost all the way inside your mouth. Your mouth was so small compared to the girth of his cock. He adored feeling you try to take more of him in, your throat clamping down as you gagged. The feeling of his cock getting wetter when you pulled up to spit on it. He had to constantly keep focusing on pleasuring you so he wouldn’t bust right then and there.
“M-more please..” you begged, your once gentle movements on his tongue becoming more desperate, your attention now fully on the climax that was building up inside of you, and what kind of man would he be to deny you? He spread your lips before devouring your cunt again, his tongue going as deep as it could. Your moans became higher pitched as you coated is face in your cum. He allowed you to ride out your high before he pushed you forward, your ass up in the air.
“Are you sure you want this?” He asked, rubbing his slobbered covered cock against your folds.
“Please, I want a baby so bad. I want your cock so bad”
He slowly slid his cock into your went folds, both of you letting out a moan. Your pussy was being spread out in the most delicious way. You felt full by the time he bottomed out inside of you.
His thrusts were slow and sensual, but with his cock being so thick he rubbed all of the right spots inside of you, making your legs shake in no time. Your pussy was clamping down onto his, causing his cock to twitch inside you.
“Are you close, darling?”
You nodded, his thrusts becoming a bit faster and less timed as both of your highs washed over you quicker than both of you would like to have admitted.
Your body felt warm as his cum leaked inside of you, causing you to shiver.
“You’re doing so good for me, are you tired?” He asked leaning down, and littering your back with kisses.
“A little.”
“You can handle one more round can’t you baby? I’ve missed you so much and I wanna make sure I put a baby in you, so I wanna use you just one more time to make sure in a few months you’ll be walking around with a swollen belly.”
Your pussy fluttered around his cock, making him let out a quick chuckle. “You liked hearing that? Does that turn you on?” He slid his cock out until just the tip was still inside, before he quickly shoved his cock back inside of you, causing your legs to shake.
“Are you sensitive doll? I’m sorry. Maybe you’ll cum more than twice tonight.” He says before placing his hands on your hips, his grip tight enough to leave bruises.
His thrusts were quicker, rougher, and deeper than before, you were fearful you’d leak out some of his cum, but your brain was turning to mush with every thrust. Your pussy tightened around him once more, but he didn’t dare slow down, if anything it made him speed up more. He wanted to see a mixture of his cum and yours drip out of you. He was determined to see it. Besides, if some of his cum did leak out, and you didn’t get pregnant, he’ll make sure to try again and again until you were.
Your moans filled the room, your hips had started moving on their own, trying to match the pace of his to quicken your release. You were close, so close. Your vision was blurred as you saw stars once giyuu moved a hand from your hip to your clit to give you some extra stimulation.
Your high was quick to wash over you, but giyuu didn’t slow down, you became overstimulated, creaming on his cock as his high started to bubble up inside him.
“I’m going to make sure you’re filled to the brim with my cum. I’m going to pump you so full of my cum that it’s gonna drip out of you.”
“Please, I want that so bad please please please”
New kink unlocked: he loved hearing you beg, it had him biting his lip as his hips stuttered, his cum coming out in thick long ropes inside of you.
The both of you took a few minutes to catch your breaths, giyuu couldn’t help but look down, to see your creamy cunt drip just a little bit of his cum onto the bed.
“There’s no way I’m not pregnant..I feel so full.” You said softly, giyuu’s cheeks getting red as he pictured you holding their future kid. His heart felt like it melted. He slowly pulled out his cock, and helped you get under the covers. He made sure you were covered before holding you close to him.
Maybe it was post nut, or maybe giyuu was just speaking from the heart, but he went on and on about how pretty you’d look carrying his kid, and how he was excited to come home from missions or training to you singing, or talking to the baby.
Both of you can only hope there is a little baby that was made that night.
Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, stared at the letter in his hand, his heart heavy with concern. It was from you, his beloved girlfriend and a demon, expressing your deep sorrow and despair. You had been struggling with your inner demons, feeling overwhelmed by the darkness within you, and were contemplating taking your own life. Without wasting a moment, Giyu set out to find you, determined to offer you comfort and support.
When he arrived at the secluded spot where you were, he saw you sitting by the edge of a cliff, tears streaming down your face. He approached you cautiously, mindful of your fragile state, and sat down beside you, offering you his presence without saying a word.
"I... I didn't expect you to come," you said in a barely audible voice, surprised to see your boyfriend standing right beside you.
"I'm always here for you, no matter what," Giyu replied softly, his eyes filled with concern as he reached out and gently placed his hand on yours.
You looked into his eyes and saw a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness. It was as if his presence alone was a beacon of light, offering you a lifeline in your darkest moment.
"But I hurt you."
Your voice cracked as you let out all your pent-up feelings at the moment. The amount of hopelessness you had when you could not even hear his pulse. How you felt when you found out you had almost killed him. Your lover. Your Giyu.
Nonetheless, Giyu still spoke to you with unwavering kindness and empathy. He listened to your pain, validating your emotions and assuring you that you were not alone. He shared his own struggles and regrets, revealing his vulnerabilities in a way he rarely did with others.
"I know that darkness can be overwhelming, but I believe there is always hope, even in the darkest moments," Giyu said softly, his voice filled with compassion.
"And you can hurt me all you want. I'm never leaving you."
He gently talked you through your thoughts and feelings, helping you see things from different perspectives. He reminded you of your worth and the value you bring to the world, and how your life is precious and irreplaceable.
"I care about you deeply, and I cannot bear to lose you," Giyu said, his voice trembling with emotion. "You are not a burden to me, and I am willing to walk this path with you, no matter how difficult it may be."
Tears streamed down your face as you listened to Giyu's words. You realized that you were not alone, and that there was someone who truly cared for you, despite your demon nature. Giyu's unwavering support and understanding touched your heart deeply, and for the first time in a long while, you felt a glimmer of hope.
With Giyu by your side, you made a promise to yourself to keep fighting, to seek help when you needed it, and to hold on to the hope that life could get better. Giyu continued to be there for you, providing you with his unwavering support and love, helping you navigate the challenges of being a demon and finding a purpose in your existence.
In time, you learned to cherish your life, and the bond between you and Giyu grew stronger. You found solace in each other's company, and your relationship became a source of strength and hope for both of you. Together, you faced the difficulties and uncertainties of life, knowing that you had each other to lean on, and that with love, empathy, and understanding, even the darkest moments could be overcome.
muichiro
stops dreaming and staring into space the moment he found out about your current situation
immediately finds you in an instant using his breathing techniques and managed to stop you just in time before you were about to jump
you burst into tears the moment you saw him
gives you a backhug so tight that you could barely breathe as he rubs your back to soothe your cries
releases you after you have finished sobbing into his shoulder, leaving a damp spot on his clothes
interlocks his hand with yours as he pulled you away from the ledge of the cliff with no intention of letting you go
teaches you breathing techniques to calm her mind, helping you learn to control you emotions and instincts in healthier ways
gives you affection physically and verbally
pays more attention to you and your behaviour
stops daydreaming to make sure you don't do anything funny
Despite the danger you posed, Muichiro couldn't help but see the pain and anguish in your eyes.
"I won't let you give up," Muichiro said softly, as he reached out to gently touch your hand. "I know you're struggling, but taking your own life is not the answer.
You were overwhelmed by conflicting emotions - the guilt and shame of your actions, the longing for peace, and the fear of what lay ahead.
"I... I don't deserve your kindness and your love," you choked out, tears streaming down your face.
Muichiro's expression softened even more, and he spoke with gentle reassurance. "Everyone deserves a chance at redemption. You are not beyond saving, and your life is worth preserving."
He sat beside you, offering you his calming presence as you poured out your heart to him. You told him about the struggles you had faced as a demon, the pain and loneliness that had led you to lose control. Muichiro listened attentively, without judgment, his hand still resting gently on yours.
"You are not alone," Muichiro said softly. "I am here, and I will help you. You can find a way to control your instincts and live a meaningful life."
His words brought a flicker of hope to your heart, and you realized that maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for redemption. Muichiro's unwavering belief in you touched you deeply, and you found solace in his presence.
Days turned into weeks, and Muichiro stayed by your side, helping you learn to control your demon instincts and showing you kindness and understanding. He taught you breathing techniques to calm your mind, and helped you find ways to channel your emotions in healthier ways. He shared stories about his own struggles and hardships, letting you know that everyone had their own battles to fight.
Slowly, you began to see a glimmer of light in the darkness that had enveloped you. With Muichiro's patient guidance and unwavering support, you found the strength to confront your inner demons and make choices that were in line with your true nature.
One day, as you were sitting by a serene lake, watching the sun set, you turned to Muichiro with gratitude in your eyes. "Thank you," you whispered, your voice filled with emotion. "You saved me, Muichiro. You gave me a reason to live."
Muichiro smiled, his usually stoic face softened with warmth as he gave you a kiss on your forehead. "No, it was you who found the strength within yourself to keep going. I'm just glad I could be here to support you. And I will never stop loving you."
You ran into his arms and hugged him for what felt like forever. In that moment, you realized that Muichiro had not only saved you from physical harm, but also helped you find a renewed sense of purpose and hope.
From that day on, Muichiro and you stood side by side, facing the challenges of the demon world together. Your bond grew stronger with each passing day, filled with mutual respect, trust, and a love that transcended the boundaries of species. With Muichiro by your side, you knew that you had found a true companion who would always be there for you, supporting you through the highs and lows of life, and helping you find the light in your life with the love he provided you unconditionally.
inosuke
(with an extra little confession because why not)
"You stupid demon!" Inosuke growled, glaring at you as you cowered in a corner, tears streaming down your face. "Don't think I'll let you off that easily!"
But as he approached you, he noticed the deep pain and sorrow in your eyes. His anger subsided, replaced by a sudden surge of protectiveness. He couldn't ignore the fact that you were hurting, despite being a demon.
"Inosuke, please," you whispered, your voice barely above a whisper. "Just end it. I can't take it anymore."
Inosuke was taken aback by your words, and he realized that you were on the brink of giving up on life. His heart clenched, and he couldn't bear the thought of losing you, even though you were a demon.
With a sudden burst of determination, Inosuke grabbed your hand and pulled you up to your feet. "No way I'm letting you die like this!" he declared, surprising both you and himself with his action.
He pulled you into a tight embrace, ignoring the fact that you were a demon, and held you close to him. "Don't you dare give up, you hear me?" he whispered, his voice filled with raw emotion. "I won't let you go. I won't."
You were taken aback by Inosuke's unexpected display of affection. His strong arms around you provided a sense of comfort and security that you hadn't felt in a long time. You felt a warmth spreading in your heart, and for the first time, you realized that maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for redemption and love.
Inosuke stayed with you, refusing to leave your side even as you tried to push him away. He showed you a side of him that you never knew existed - caring, gentle, and protective. He helped you learn to control your demon instincts, teaching you breathing techniques and ways to channel your emotions in healthier ways.
Inosuke's rough exterior melted away whenever he was with you, and you saw a softer side to him that made your heart skip a beat. He would often wrap you in his arms, holding you close, and pressing gentle kisses to your forehead or cheeks. His physical affection brought you comfort and made you feel cherished.
As time passed, you found yourself falling in love with Inosuke, and he seemed to feel the same way. He would often blush and stutter around you, a stark contrast to his usual bravado. He would steal glances at you when he thought you weren't looking, and he would always make sure you were safe and well taken care of.
One day, as you were sitting under the stars, enjoying a moment of peace, Inosuke turned to you with a nervous expression. "Hey, demon," he said, scratching his head awkwardly. "I... I like you. A lot."
You couldn't help but smile, feeling a warmth spreading through your chest. "I like you too, Inosuke," you confessed, reaching out to touch his hand.
Inosuke's eyes widened in surprise, and then he grinned, his boar-like teeth showing. "Alright then, from now on, you're mine," he declared, pulling you into a fierce hug, his heart pounding against yours.
You laughed, feeling a sense of happiness and belonging that you never thought possible as a demon once your lips connected with his. With Inosuke by your side, you felt completely safe in his arms. You felt at home. You felt love. You felt him.
𝑰𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆'𝒔 𝒂 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒘𝒂𝒚~
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
You wish is my command, my dear readers and requesters~
It was supposed to be a fine afteenoon during spring at the headquarters of the demonslayer corp. However, there seems to be a conflict between Giyuu's beloved wifey and a pair of rowdy hashiras.
It all started when the pair, Sanemi and Iguro, had made a unsavoury remark about your very loved hubby. They had commented about how Giyuu was a loner, had a depressing life and was a mood killer. This had of course infuriated you, after all you were his lover!
At first, you had just made slight remarks about how it was not very nice and they should not say such things. However, thing slowly started to escalate like how Sanemi had started to raise his voice, leading you to do so too. Then, it had started to get physical.
Sanemi and you were having a fist fight before you had insulted Iguro, saying how he was a coward after making such remarks and not maning up and fighting you. Which had resulted in a two verses one where they ganged up on you.
By now, the by-stander kakushis had started to fear for you safety and theirs. Leading to them scurrying off and calling for help from fellow hashiras, all of them rushing off to the location where you guys were having a fist fight.
Honestly speaking, almost all of them were expecting you to be badly injured and for the hashira duo to sustain no injuries. So, imagine their surprise as to the two guys on the ground with rough scratched all over their body while you were just standing over them without any form of injuries! Truly, deep inside Giyuu's pride dor picking such an amazing person as a life long partner swelled!
There you stood, smiling towards the crowd as you cheered," haha! If there's a will there's a way! ^w^ " Just as you finished that sentence, Giyuu rushed to your side and gave you a tight, warm and comforting hug.
(Hope u enjoy the oneshot idk if its how u imagine but i tried my best @weebotaku21 ! ^w^)
