Just finished donating platelets! Cancer patients, post-surgery patients, and newborns and moms, to name a few, often specifically need platelets (vs. normal blood), which help us stop and slow blood loss. But normal blood donations only give a tiny, tiny number of platelets. For these donations, I sit here for 90ish minutes and the machine takes my blood, extracts platelets, and gives me back the rest, so I’m not dehydrated like with normal blood donation. And my body is healthy enough to make new platelets, so I’ll be refreshed in no time. I just read the whole time (they can also set you up with a movie). I highly recommend it as a way to do some good!

Hey Friends,

First, I want to thank everyone who has helped me in the past and continues to support me. This past month has been very difficult. I was laid off my job two weeks ago, and I have been trying to escape enough funds to pay my bills. My second job is also slow right now. I im currently looking for a new full-time job, and I have a few important bills coming up that I really need help with. Mostly, my storage unit is due at the end of the month. And my kids' school starts soon and I have to pay as well.

As a lot of you who have been active in the Encanto fandom for as long as I have known, last month marked the one-year anniversary of the suicide of someone very special in this fandom, carlaerosie. She sadly took her own life way too young after being bullied and harassed far too many times by the racist assholes in this fandom, and since it's been one year since her death. I want to give back by finding a Colombian-based charity that helps those with mental health issues and suicidal thoughts. I ended up finding the Sergio Urrego Foundation, which is based in Bogota, Colombia, and it's mission is to provide psychiatric care for those in need of it. I'm planning on taking out $20 per paycheck I get this month to give back and I highly encourage anyone else involved to do whatever you can for this organization.

Returning to one of my favorite traditions of donations to charities for comments in honor of my birthday today ♥ I love giving back and knowing you can make a difference is the best gift of all.

For every comment that is left on one of my fics (with a few stipulations, keep reading) I will donate $2 to either Rescued Rascals (the foster group I work with and where I adopted Kili from) OR the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry (local food pantry to me).

Some guidelines since I don't want a rush of spam and I really do love hearing from y'all and heartfelt, detailed comments are a wonderful birthday present ♥

Comment(s) must be left on AO3*. It can be on any story; one you’ve never read and decided to try, an old favorite you never left a comment on, an old favorite and you want to revisit, you get the picture ;)

The words “Happy Birthday Icy!” or something similar should be somewhere in your comment so I can track this as well as please note which of the above charities you'd like your comment to be donated to (if you don't notate such I'll pick!)

Comments have to be minimum of 35 words (you know, since I’m 35 now, hello old lady) although please, feel free to go longer and please don't use quotes of the story to make up the majority of said word count. Hi, my name is George L. Cook III. I am a trustee on the Union County College Foundation, and we help students finish college.

I am raising money for the Union County College Close The Gap Fund. The Close The Gap Fund helps Black students attend and finish college through grants or micro scholarships that they DO NOT have to pay back. Many African American students at our college struggle to finish school not because of academics but because of finances.

Many of these students struggle with their stay in school but not due to grades. They need help with paying for classes, books, transportation, and even paying for lunch.

Strange Happenings

Okay my darlings, I have a very special announcement for all of you. Well, there's actually two parts to this but one is an option and the other is news.

As of this evening, the friend who has been voicing Doctor Strange in my ASMR "Strange Tidings" on my YouTube channel has agreed to have the final part done by December 1st, just in time for the holidays for all of you visions of loveliness! He's been going through a rough time, but we finally got to the point where we've decided it's time for this long hiatus to come to an end. So look forward to the conclusion of the story in just a few days' time.

The second part that would be optional is for all of you who want to partake in a very special version of this series that I'm currently working on. With all of the outpouring of support I have received from my wonderful friends here in this community, I've decided to write a counter script for the listener in the ASMR. And that's where all of you come in. Do you have a set of headphones with a mic? Then I want to put your voice in personalized versions of this script for you for the holidays. I'm very happy to give back after all that I have been given and this is definitely one of the only - and in my personal opinion, the best - ways I could think of how to do it. Even if you think the quality is bad, I promise that I can make it sound clear enough that there will be no interference. So please just record it anyway, so I can send it back to you for a holiday present. I'll be sending personal asks to everyone I tag in this post as well, to get information on where I can send it.
