#get creative with your Canon compliance

The funny thing about Tech's "death" is that it's so flimsy you can actually bring him back in fic while staying completely canon compliant. We cut off directly after the Hemlock situation - you can bring him back in any way you want here.
What about the time skip? Well what the hell did it actually show us?
Omega didn't tell Hunter to keep an eye on Tech along with the other two. (She didn't mention Echo either.) You can excuse this a dozen ways. Tech keeps an eye on himself. He's with Phee much of the time and so not under Hunters Direct Responsibility. He didn't need to have an eye kept on him because he agreed with her decision to join the rebellion and the other two didn't. He's already actually WITH the rebellion.
You can come up with just as many reasons for her to still have his goggles - they're a good luck charm since it turned out he survived, they're a remembrance of how much was sacrificed because even without him being dead he was gone for a long while, they're just sentimental now because of the love they represent, Omega didn't feel right getting rid of them.
This isn't a "Oh canon is totally implying-" I know what canon is saying. But Star Wars itself has retconned much bigger things than this. You can absolutely consider your fic canon compliant and have a surviving Tech returning to his family. It at most contradicts authorial intent, not what's actually onscreen.

This is a prompt to talk about Lucifer and Satan purring (!!!!!) and body types??
Woo thank you !!
Starting with body types bc i think it will be shorter than the purring (i have. Many thoughts about the purring lmao). They're admittedly not drastically different from the models, I'm constantly at war with my brain between Canon Compliance and creative liberties ahzhsjxh but its a lot of smaller details, i hope its not disappointing at all orz
Lucifer - ironically his body type is the most difficult one for me to describe shdhhd he's just kind of a Fit Guy tm. Like he's got decently defined muscles and the slight dorito shape from his shoudlers/chest to his waist that you expect from anime men lmao. But he's not shredded, no washboard abs or anything (but relatively toned still, could be a six-pack if he's deliberately flexing lmao), the most defined muscles are in his arms and chest, primarily. Also he's got long-ass legs, idk why he is just ⅔ leg and i cannot unsee it
Satan - lean muscle and pretty boxy, the shoulder to waist to hip ratio isn't all that drastic, not a lot of chest muscle and again lean but not shredded ab region (using the flexing concept again I'd put him at a 4 pack lol) but also more visibly defined than Lucifer's at rest as well due to a slightly lower fat percentage. Also he has like no ass and I'll die on this hill (the first obey me post i ever saw was someone calling him out for having a flat ass in a chat picture and it has stuck with me the entire 4 years 💀 not slander btw we support all booties here). He's just very square/rectangle coded in my mind for inexplicable reasons
Demons purring is a headcanon I'm constantly dying to talk about Thank You 🙏 i hope these are actually like afjsjg decently coherent, they got long (as expected but still)
Lucifer - witnessing him purr at all is Exceptional rare (hearing it is even less common) for a combination of reasons that mostly boil down to his general commitment to his reputation and him being reluctant to show vulnerability at most times (and in this specific case its exacerbated by the fact that he was not Always a demon and the ability to purr in the first place is relatively foreign to him). He's put in the work to keep a handle on it as much as he can, and to keep it silent when he can't (control, control, control), and outside of him practicing that alone the most common instances of it happening have been when he's with MC, or when he's Very drunk and in good/safe company (diavolo, primarily. Lucifer is still hesitant to fully drop his facade with him, but it's been slowly melting away over the centuries. Diavolo does his absolute best not to call attention to the purring in the very rare instance that he even notices it occurring, but it is an absolutely herculean feat for him lmao). Generally the only time it's at all audible is with MC, in those rare perfect moments that let him feel safe and cozy enough to fully relax, often with the help of cuddling and petting his hair, wings, or the base of his horns. Even then it's quiet, a low, deep rumble somewhere between what you'd expect from a panther or other big cat (if they were actually able to purr) and the kind of sound a small tremor of an earthquake makes, where you might not realize you're even hearing anything at first but you can Feel your eardrums vibrating anyways.
Satan - also purrs very infrequently, for a few similar reasons but also wildly different ones. He's more accustomed to it as a general ability, having never had a body that was unable to purr in the first place, but he's still not incredibly familiar with it for a while. He did it instinctively as a self-soothing method at first, back when he was still out of control and would get locked in his room for the safety of himself and others, doing it less the more he gets a hold on his wrath, associating it with the consequences of a loss of control rather than positive emotions. It's not until he becomes attached to and knowledgeable about cats that he starts seeing it in a different light, eventually allowing himself to give into the urge to purr occasionally without feeling bad about it, but with this a different problem arises: having something so in common with cats has him almost too giddy, to the extent that when he starts purring he struggles to stop, so he still represses it most of the time. He purrs most often completely alone in his room where there will be minimal consequences to him getting stuck in a happy-stim feedback loop for an hour or two if it does happen, and he's still a bit embarrassed about the idea of this happening in front of MC for a good while, but not totally against it.
His purr tends to be a bit stilted and not particularly deep in pitch, waves of it more clearly following his breathing. It's not loud but its not really quiet either, and he's never really been successful at trying to control anything about it other than completely suppressing it, adding to the list of reasons he can't do it stealthily in day to day life as some other demons might be able to (purring loudly in public is seen as vaguely inappropriate, not really in a big way but kind of the same vibes as crying in public in most human settings. You won't get in trouble or anything but its one of those things most people feel more comfortable with keeping private).
I think I covered everything but if not I'll probably end up adding anything I couldve missed whenever i actually remember it lol
Thanks again for the chance to infodump :)

How do you think a "modernization" of the pc 98 games would go. It kinda sucks how much its ignored but its not like they fit into touhou as it is now.
in my mind, there are two possible solutions, each of which depends on what you want from those games and the characters, each of which requires some serious creative writing, and each of which is kind of unsatisfying in its own way
the first option is to try to squeeze the games into canon as "something that happened before eosd". doing this will invariably strip away a lot of their charm, as it will by necessity (as i discussed with lls) require essentially ripping out their guts and putting something else with the same basic plot and characters in its place. it also still has the lingering issue of "this feels like it should be more important to the canon than it actually is", especially for podd and ms (they're the best ones, but that only works against their favour in terms of canon compliance). but you'll get that no matter what you do. all the offhand mentions to an evil spirit taking over the shrine in cola can't change the fact that trying to fit pc98 into canon unchanged is a bit of a nightmare
the second option - the more controversial one - is to do what i did with melancholia, essentially, and say "well, this didn't happen, but all the characters still exist", an approach guaranteed to drive you to madness. trying to retrofit random pc98 characters into modern-style gensokyo residents is essentially just turning them into ocs, and guarantees that your perspective of those characters is fundamentally different to anyone else's forever. of course it goes without saying that this needless contrarianism is my preferred approach

"burying the 2000s Traditional Namers" Aww, I love the more open forms of traditional naming though. It's fun to look up things native to an area and get to include things like Wahoo- and Thrasher- for prefixes. (Wahoo is a type of plant and Thrasher is a lovely bird.) I've also seen someone use -chaser as a suffix before. It adds just enough of a constraint and had added to my clans' worldbuilding. Though it does mean valid fruit like Pawpaws can't be used. Pawpawpaw isnt good in any system! XD
YOU! I THOUGHT I BURIED YOU!! /j
Nah nah what I meant by that was like, the guys who got mad that Hawkfrost's suffix was Frost. Those guys were insufferable, they would have super strict name schemes of like, -fur, -nose, -claw and get nasty towards anyone who had a creative name
Like, they would get mad at Ferncloud, Squirrelflight, Cloudrunner, etc. They were mega unpleasant.
I also love the more open-ended versions of traditional naming, the meaning it's taken on in MODERN fandom (I am an old fart by your whippedsnapper standards) where it's like...
"The prefix is an ecologically valid concept, the suffix is one that fits in with canon seamlessly, and I've tried to give a poetic meaning to the convergence of these two things"
As opposed to lyrical naming which imo is more like,
"I've tried to express the personality of this character in a flowery two-part name with more emphasis on evocative imagery than canon compliance, usually for beauty or to better track the narrative use of this cat."

Okie not quite 77!
buuuuut 16, 18, 22, 32, 42, 56, 65 and 68?
WOW. Yeah. That sure is a lot!
16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?
So many. Just. So many. It’s a real problem, actually—I’ve started writing a lot that will probably just never get posted. If I shared one (that I’ll maybe finish eventually?) it would probably be my scrapped lore fic: nothing very creative, just me spending way too many words analyzing a 5-minute audio clip. Canon-compliance obsession strikes again.
~
18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
It varies! Sometimes a title seems obvious—good authority, for example—and sometimes I spend days poking my brain until it produces something half-acceptable. My favourite title is probably sands through the timer, which came pretty easily.
~
22. Are there certain types of writing you won’t do? (style, pov, genre, tropes, etc)
Yeah… I won’t do smut. Or any shipping in general. Just not my cup of tea. Other than that, I like trying out new things!
~
32. Name three of your favorite fanfic writers.
This is SO hard. I’d feel horrible ranking people, so I’ll give a random 3 from my top-however-many writers:
@/theminecraftbox - I talk about Shell Game all the time and I’m not about to stop. Read it.
@/swordfright - Ouroboros, the unmaking days, so many good ones.
@/dreamsclock - I could list so many but hornets nest is still a masterpiece.
(These really are random, I spun a wheel lmao)
~
42. What’s the last fic you read? Do you recommend it?
I found a nice c!rivals fic from 2021, Roses On The Winter’s Edge. It’s not finished (and I haven’t finished reading it either) but I’m enjoying it! The usual good post-prison doomsday trio stuff.
~
56. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?
I feel like it’s important to me that no character is entirely the “good” or “bad” guy. It’s a gray area in canon, so I try to do that justice. It’s up to you whether I succeed lol.
~
65. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
I’d really like to get hallow the foul and everlasting evermore finished, but it’s taking a while. Beyond that, I want to get a merc pact au fic out! I started writing one a while ago, I just got distracted. It’s a big project.
~
68. What, if anything, do you do for inspiration?
Often I’m just scrolling through tumblr asdjkhhb. Fan works like analysis/fics/aus send me spiraling. When the inspiration randomly hits, I just try to make the most of it. (If only I had more time.)

❤️✨🏷️📚 please my love 💍💍 !!!!
eeeee of course my love 💍 💍 💍 💍 !!!!
❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?
this one comes from a different fic that still means so much to me so here’s a little sashnetra breakup au Im just a sucker for family aus okay?
Kerri came back with a wide smile, flower still in her hair. “I ready! Can we go now?” Sasha took her hand and they started down the sidewalk to the ice cream shop. Kerri looked up at Anetra and took her hand, holding on with her little hand. She smiled back and gave a little squeeze.
✨️ Out of the comments you’ve received on your fics, what are two or three of your favorites?
Oh Jesus this is making me think, definitely one I got for hytesdoll where they talked about how much they loved it and wanted more and probably one of your comments <33 they’re always so encouraging and gush about whatever I post and just make my month in all honesty ily gi 💍💍
🏷 Is there a tag you like to search for when looking for fanfics to read?
For drag race i do it by ship since there is such a small collection compared to other fandoms but if it’s larger like game of thrones, I typically do it by au or like non canon compliance because that’s where people can get really creative and some of the best fics are there
📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?
oh I actually have some for this!!
For fanfics, If you fall, I fall by zwritestuff is so so soooo good! it’s coxdoll fake dating teachers au and it is just lovely!!
also also recommend Baby we made it which was orphaned :/ but it’s sooo perfect! it’s a jankie comfort fic and I end up reading it so so so much cause it just makes me feel so much better so def check it out!
For authors im not sure, I don’t really read by specific authors so I don’t really have one. But if you have recommendations I would love to hear them and support!!

hello friend! 4, 10, and 15 for the ask game ❣️
Hellooooooooo Sudha! Thank you!
4. what fic of your own do you read for comfort?
I'm not a huge fan of reading my own work back (maybe because it's all pretty recent and I need more distance from it?). BUT with that said I'm actually having fun rereading my Jilytober 31 prompts collection every day. Also my Platform 9 3/4 drabble from last month.
OK now that I'm looking at this pattern it's the things I don't obsess over and I end up writing in like under an hour lol. 😅
10. how has writing positively impacted your mental health or overall mood?
It's been really fun to get back into fandom and have a creative outlet that isn't tied to my job! It's nice to have pride in something that isn't tied to like performance and money. I went from freelancing after my full-time job during covid to spending all my free time planning a wedding to suddenly having NOTHING to do, so when this filled that vacuum it was nice to have something fun and low-pressure to work towards.
15. How do you think your writing as improved over time?
I only started writing again 5 months ago so I don't think I can speak to the fics y'all have read BUT looking back on my fics from like middle school and junior high, other than a general overall improvement in quality from a 12 year old to 29 year old, I care SO MUCH MORE now about canon compliancy lol. I mean we also know more about the Marauders now than we did when the books were still coming out (which is when I last wrote) but even just in compliance with era-appropriate references and language.
Thank you! :)
Ask me questions! (There's still a few left on here, I think!)

Random question but since you're posting about historical fiction today: At what point do you think someone can / should stop refering to a historical figure in a fictional work as a real person and start refering to them as a character? Is there a point where there's enough discrepancies that they become two separate entities? Do we have to keep giving them the historical figure treatment no matter what? Or should we not refer to them as a real person altogether?
Hii, thanks so much for your question!
I think a historical figure in a fictional work is always a character, no matter the reconstructive intent or the “canon compliance”. I consider that fundamental— meaning it doesn't matter how many discrepancies there might be. For example, Philip II and Philip II Don Carlos are (clearly) two perfectly distinct entities— but conversely, Philip IV in Painter to the King, who was crafted to be as (arguably) historically accurate as possible and with no verifiable discrepancies, is still the author’s creation and personal interpretation, not the real person.
By that I mean that there’s no point in a work of fiction where the “historical figure character” is not a character. In fact, the real person is absolutely unattainable. The only times we might get a glimpse of a person is through academic research, and these works never (should) try to interpret a person beyond what is factually justifiable and reasonably sourced, so yeah, hopefully not a character there.
To answer your question, I think no one should be referring to “Character based on historical figure” as the real historical figure at any point. Not because it's super wrong or offensive or anything, but because it doesn't really make sense to me? When we refer to Philip II Don Carlos as simply Philip II, we’re clearly not talking about the real person in any measure. And— Don Carlos aside— even if we were discussing a period piece more intent on offering historical credibility, almost everything is creative liberty, really; only the level of plausibility (some verifiable facts, informed takes, etc) varies. We can make a character off a person, but it'll never be that person— nor is that the intention, generally. So yeah, I consider them two separate entities from the get go :)
And to be honest, I do hope no one is giving fictional characters (as based on real people as they might be) “the historical figure treatment”, because entertainment. is great. but. not a source of information 😭. (You probably know I am wayy too touchy about this— like popular period pieces giving the general public a completely distorted picture of. Yeah).
When I think about it, there is this contradiction in my mind, which is that I fully support historical fiction and people taking a historical gal/guy and making their own characters and interpretations (creative; good), with no pretense of academic work (only art)... but I also consider it to be a bit… in the danger zone, because— I’m gonna be honest— I don't trust audiences. I’ve been on this site and Twitter and Reddit and all for too long to know that a strong subset of audiences cannot think critically to save its life, and will not make any difference between entertainment and historical research when presented with a piece of media. [Addition: Which is why after all I’ve said you’ll still see me complaining about Aguila Roja and the likes, despite the fact that there’s no pretense of historicity there.]
In short, to me, a character based on a historical figure in a fictional work is inherently a completely separate entity from that figure, no matter the supposed accuracy, and the two should ideally not be mixed up at all! It’s methodologically sounder!
That would be my take— don't hesitate to tell me what you think!

hiiii I might be known as the jigsquad ask guy but I wanna say first of all I LOVE your art second of all politely asking for your mark and Mandy thoughts if you have em have a nice day!!
Well first off!! Thank you, I'm glad you love my art!! Saw has awoken the fuckin creative beast in me that spent the last two years being dormant, it's been really nice to get back into the swing of things honestly and see other folks enjoying the work I do again~
THAT SAID, LETS TALK ABOUT MY FAVORITE SHITTY DUO BECAUSE YOU'VE ENABLED ME!
Tumblr media
The caption on this little doodle pretty much sums it up how I feel about them honestly, but I Will go into detail since you asked so nicely for my thoughts: (This got REALLY LONG so I'm putting it under a read more)
I'll be real, I've been ill over Hoffman and Amanda's dynamic and what the hell their relationship might have been like since the first time I watched Saw V. Realizing that they both were vying for the spot of taking over the Jigsaw title once John inevitably died had me going insane, and it's because of how Different yet Similar they both are. From the very little bit of canon interaction we get with the two of them, it's fairly clear that there's a lot of open hostility there between them, and it's completely understandable why. Hoffman is a cop and a fuckin asshole to boot who clearly enjoys the level of violence that working with John allows him. Amanda meanwhile is a recovering addict who has a lot of mental health issues and was treated poorly by the legal system before. John putting these two together was honestly a recipe for disaster from the start.
And yet...they did have so many traps that went off pretty well with Both of them working on them behind the scenes. And so it begs the question of what the hell their dynamic actually was besides the little bit that we saw. It had to be Somewhat functional enough for this stuff to work as long as it did.
In a more canon compliant sense, I think for the most part they were very begrudging coworkers who probably made things purposefully harder on each other (Amanda micromanaging Hoffman's work comes to mind for me personally, sometimes stealing his tools for her own use whenever he's around too just to piss him off) but that also somehow had a bit of a working groove they got into when push came to shove. Hoffman, despite being the weaker of the two of them when it comes to engineering knowledge, did actually know enough to put together his own trap without anyone's help (which is a fact some people seem to forget.) So I feel like he and Amanda both learned enough from John + whatever knowledge Amanda already had for herself to be able to have a bit of back and forth on how to do things. John's the ultimate authority of course, but I don't think any of their traps would have gone off as smoothly, especially when John's health was physically failing, if they weren't able to put away the hostility long enough to work together.
Staying with canon compliance however, obviously somewhere along the way this fell apart come time for Jeff's test. By that time, I think Hoffman's ego had gotten the better of him, he'd basically shed whatever personal feelings he might have had about their work entirely (courtesy of John's encouragement I might add), and all he has in mind is being the one to take up the title and use it for his own violent ends with no one to stop him. Meanwhile Amanda is preoccupied with John’s physical health failing and her own tumultuous feelings about how much his ways and work are actually helping people, so she’s got her own things going on and doesn’t see the danger coming until it’s too late. We all know how it goes; Hoffman blackmails her with the info about her involvement in Jill’s miscarriage, and as a result Amanda kills Lynn and gets herself and John killed as well, and this leaves Hoffman as last man standing. Whatever semblance of a relationship they might have had is gone for good, and I don’t think canonically Hoffman cares that it’s gone. He got what he wanted and now he's (supposedly) free to do as he pleases while taking on the title for himself, and that’s that.
But of course, insanity begs me to think about other routes, and so I do indeed have Jigsquad related ideas for Mark and Mandy too.
In that situation I do think they’d be a little more like shitty siblings who do shit on purpose to annoy the hell out of the other, but do also care on Some level about each other, even if they’re horrible at showing it.
Hoffman is. Woefully emotionally unintelligent at the best of times tbh. Both as a result of John’s bullshit (which. I’ll go into that in another post sometime too trust me) but also just because it’s not his strongpoint. Amanda isn’t exactly the best at it either, but I think she at least is more Aware of things than Hoffman is. When it comes to the two of them tho, I think they kinda have some unspoken agreement in the Jigsquad timeline that if they see the other feeling shitty, they go grab food together/for the other. Amanda will perpetually forget something from Hoffman’s order if she asks what he wants on purpose, but neither of them care enough to make a big deal out of it on those nights honestly.
I don’t think it’s something they would ever really have Deep Talk about specifically, but as Hoffman’s obviously aware of Amanda’s issues with self harm, I would think she probably found out at some point about the drinking issues from losing his sister that Hoffman had, and so while they’re both shitty to each other about a lot of things, eventually they come to an unspoken agreement not to touch on that stuff specifically. It’s a sore spot whether Hoffman will admit it or not considering its half of what led to him going after Seth and therefore John blackmailing him into the Jigsaw work in the first place, and obviously Amanda struggles with her own mental health on the regular, so they've just decided to stick to less personally offensive things to get under each others skin about in this timeline. Doesnt mean they dont fuck up occasionally, but there’s at least some sort of effort being put in there.
Less serious but they both absolutely know the other is gay and Will make dickhead comments about each other’s taste. Amanda gets on Hoffman’s case constantly for whatever he has going on with Strahm (even if he doesn’t realize they Have something for awhile) and tells him he could do better than to do shit with the guy who’s trying to bust them all. This does nothing of course in the long run but it’s still funny to think about.
Overall in the Jigsquad universe they are still like. Woefully dysfunctional compared to your normal sibling relationship but it’s at least marginally better in the fact that they’re not trying to kill each other and there’s a little bit of effort being made to not constantly fuck things up further between the two of them, and that’s the ideal dynamic I’d have loved to see for them in a better universe anyways.
This got REALLY long but to be fair you did ask! that’s all my thoughts I have atm but rest assured I will have more in the future, I’ve just exhausted my words on them for the night is all~

Bloodlust /// Sanemi x f!Reader (18+)
Tumblr media
Summary: A naive demon is waylaid by the Wind Hashira.
A/N: Might fuck around and get back into KNY…Sanemi is one mean bastard, and I’m here for it. Be warned—this is pretty brutal (not by canon standards, but still). ngl I’ve missed writing stuff like this 🥺
Tags/warnings: sadomasochism, noncon, hatefucking!!!! is def the best way to describe what happens in this fic, threats, violence, demon reader & demon things, primal, degradation, outdoor sex, bloodplay & marechi kink stuff, yandere? obsessive fixation ig, some creative liberties have been taken with canon
You’d almost forgotten what it feels like to be weak.
Strength came with the territory when you were turned into a demon, along with the hunger: all-encompassing, oppressive, like you’re starving every second you’re not eating. Apparently you’re better able to control your hunger than other demons, not that you’ve met many—none, actually, other than the one who turned you. He was the one who told you to exercise control, who told you that you’ve done well to stealthily pick off prey that wouldn’t be missed instead of attracting attention. He was the one who told you about demon slayers.
You almost laughed at the idea at the time. A group of humans who tried to resist demons? Tried to kill them? How? Every human you’ve encountered since you were turned—hunters, mostly, men who’d wandered into the woods looking for something to eat—has been pathetically weak against you. Life as a demon is simple. As long as you stay in the shadows and avoid the sun, you have nothing to fear.
Sometimes you daydream about making your way to a village and gorging yourself, but you don’t mind the hunger so much. You can get by on scraps. And besides, the demon who turned you warned you not to go overboard. He said to stay away from the humans’ notice—not that the threat of some human calling themselves a “demon slayer” bothered you. You know how strong you are; you can feel it in your blood, your muscles, your bones. You don’t understand how a flesh-and-blood human could threaten that.
You don’t understand…until you meet him. The Wind Hashira. You should’ve listened to the warnings about demon slayers.
Bitter.
It tastes bitter, and you try to ground yourself on that taste, the sharp, bitter-wet flavor of the grass and dew and earth because the slayer is shoving your face into the dirt and the copper from where you’re biting into your lip and holding back the sound of your voice. Not that he cares, probably. But you don’t think you could take hearing yourself moan for a human while he carves the shape of his cock into your pussy.
How did you…get here? Facedown, barely holding yourself up on your elbows, chest and stomach shoved into the grass with your back arched up and your kimono ridden above your hips… Fuck, you can barely remember the fight, his ability, him wrestling you into the earth and shoving his weight down on you and bringing his blade to his own arm and—
—his blood, so rich and thick and sweet that even recalling the smell of it sends a wave of heat through you and you whine under your breath. The hunger overtakes everything else you’re feeling, but only for a second before with a twitch of his hand the Hashira brings the edge of his sword to the tender skin of your throat. “Ah-ah,” he rasps out a laugh even though his voice is heavy and strained. “What was that? Are you starting to like it?”
“K-Kill you, I’ll—kill you,” you snarl, but you and him both know the threat is empty. You tried. And you failed.
“Fucking demon whore,” he spits, and the blade slips just enough to draw a hair-thin line of red across your neck, earning a yelp from you even though you don’t dare move any more for fear of letting it cut you deeper. When you go still, he grunts and you can hear him shifting position in the grass, angling your hips up so his cock can sink in again. “Asking for it…fuck…”
“I wasn’t—nngh—ah, ahhh, s-stop—you can’t—” Your words are coming out in babbles, barely intelligible but it’s his fault. He’s pushing up at your womb, pulling out in short, quick thrusts and slamming his cock back into your cunt so hard and rough it’s like he’s knocking the breath out of your lungs. It hurts, ithurtsithurtsithurts, an ache deep in your core and accompanied with a heat and tension that you hate even more than you hate the pain, because it means he’s right. You—no, your body, your traitorous pathetic weak body that submitted to his so easily—it’s starting to like this.
“How’s it feel?” He’s mocking you, fisting his fingers in your hair and wrenching your head back so he can look you in the eye. “Does it hurt?…it hurts, right? Good.”
“—i-it doesn’t—“ You don’t even believe it yourself.
“Yes…it does. Guess even a demon bitch like you can’t take me that easily.” Somehow the slayer’s hips keep pumping deeper, pushing his fat cock through your walls and against the entrance to your womb until you’re certain your unnatural healing can’t keep up with the bruising in your cunt. Your fingers are scrabbling in the grass, digging clawed nails into the earth—the little nick on your throat has already knitted itself back up, but the tension in your pussy is a dozen—a hundred—times worse.
“—stop, let me go—“ Debased. Lower than an animal. You’d be begging if you thought he would listen.
“‘Stop’? How are you going to...ungh, make me stop? Want to try to fight me off again?” He pulls out (you hate the way your cunt feels when he does, hot and slick and empty) and his grip on the sword slackens, easing up enough to give you a scanty inch of movement. “Go ahead, give it a try.”
The slayer’s taunting you—just like you taunted him at the start of this, when you first challenged him, when you thought he was a human—and, and somehow he is, still human and yet just as much a monster as you are. More. You’ve been cruel, you’ve done evil things, but you did them to survive. Fuck, you shouldn’t—shouldn’t have taunted him, shouldn’t have boasted, should’ve stayed hidden in the dark. You didn’t know. He wasn’t supposed to be this strong.
Your muscles are shaking from exertion as you brace your hands against the ground, trying to push up against the weight of his body so you can right yourself, but it’s futile. Within a second (less than a second) of your attempt to move, one of his scarred hands slaps over your wrist and crushes it back into the dirt, grip so tight you swear you can almost feel your bones grinding underneath. You snarl, try to twist yourself away from him but the hilt of his sword slams down flat against your other hand so hard you feel a dull pang of surprise that nothing actually breaks.
“So weak…try that again and I’ll use the sharp end.” His chest is moving back on top of yours, and you recognize the silent rhythm of the movement.
He’s laughing at you.
Weak. You know it’s true. You thought you were so strong, but compared to this Hashira you’re nothing. Pure unadulterated defeat is written in every cell of your body, and whatever animal instinct you have left from your human life is telling you to roll over and accept that he’s the predator, and you’re nothing more than prey. But the mockery, the ease with which he holds you down, the goddamn fucking laughter sparks a fresh wave of hatred and you thrash and squirm underneath his body. “You’re dead, you—I’ll kill you, I’ll tear you apart, they’ll be picking bits of you out of this forest for weeks—“
The red haze over your vision is so heavy that you barely notice the blade tilting into position—not over your skin, but against his. You only register what he’s doing when the glint of sunlight on the blade reflects brilliant white, and you catch a scarlet line of blood beading against it. You pull back, eyes going wide, trying not to inhale but your lungs betray you and,
oh ohhh fuck it smells good smells so good you want it you want it so fucking bad you’re going to die if you can’t taste it you need it you need it you NEED IT.
Your muscles go slack. You’re salivating already, dizzy from hunger, so intensely focused on the smell of his blood that you can’t help your compliance as he pulls your hips up into place and slips his cock back into your pussy. Only when it starts to hurt again—a dull soreness now, because he’s slowed his pace to push his thick shaft into you inch by inch—do you feel that same prickle of hatred and disgust, but who cares who cares that you’re getting fucked because the smell of his blood is driving you out of your mind with need.
You no longer have the self-control to hold back your voice, and when the slayer hears the pathetic little mewl dripping out of your mouth from the sensation of him filling you up, he laughs again. But this time you don’t care, you just want him, want his body, his blood. Your jaw snaps open and shut on instinct and you whine, pleading, because you’re past the point of believing that you can beat him.
“You like that? Want to taste?” His voice is softer now, but the vein of mockery still runs clear through every syllable.
Your head jerks up and down desperately and then he draws his hips back and slaps his cock between your aching walls, pushing a huffed “uhhn!” out of your lips—but you don’t pull away. You can tolerate this, if it means getting to taste that blood dripping down his fingers, over the sword grip still held in his palm, just to be wasted on the grass. Out of your reach.
“So docile now…think I could get used to this,” the slayer sighs, adjusting the position of his thighs so he can thrust into you lazily and deeply. “F-Fuck, you’re—tight, you know that? All hot and sticky inside…”
“—let me have it, need it I need it, why—“ Your head is spinning, feels like you’re…what? The intoxication is hitting some note deep in the recesses of your memory, a past life you aren’t supposed to be able to recall. Bitter taste on your tongue, liquid pouring, fuzzy edges bordering your vision. Drunkenness.
“Little demon bitch,” he growls, tapping the blade lightly against your neck when you snap your teeth at him again. “Said you were going to kill me, yeah? But now you’re moaning like a whore…”
You try to muster a denial, but you can’t.
The slayer’s other hand twists underneath the two of you to press up on your lower belly, pushing into the place where his cock is nudging up against your womb. You keen at the pressure, the slow friction against that little patch in your cunt that makes you slicker every time his cockhead passes over it. “Feel how deep I am in your cunt…? I can—feel your pulse on my cock, fuck.”
You can feel it too, your heartbeat echoed in the twitches of your pussy around his skin, quick and fluttering from the drunken stupor his blood has forced you into. Every sense is heightened, and the weight of his hand pushing up on your belly just makes it worse…or better. You’re not sure.
He swallows, and with his body on top of yours you can feel his heavy breathing puffing out over the bared skin of your neck. “Can demons even cum? If you can get wet, then you can cum too, right? I bet I can…bet I can make you cum, you fucking whore. Wouldn’t that be nice…get you creaming on my cock, make you my little fuckpet…”
His hand slips down from your belly to rub roughly at your cunt, pushing into your skin to seek out the little button at the top—and the feeling of his hands on you like this, the sharp jolt of pleasure somehow sends a splinter of clarity through your delirium. “No,” you wail, hearing how wanton you sound and hating it. “I can’t I can’t, please, please don’t make me—“
“Quiet.” His thick forearm wraps around your neck, tightening against your windpipe and cutting off your voice. “Learn your place, demon—the only reason you’re alive is because you’re a nice wet hole for me to use. So when I tell you to cum—“
His pace picks up, hips knocking yours deeper, splitting you apart while he swirls his fingers around that sweet spot—and then the smell of copper gets thicker and he’s pushing his bloody hand against your mouth—
“—you cum.”
You’re not sure whether it’s your cunt or the taste of his blood smearing over your lips that does it, but as soon as he says the word you shatter like glass. The heat is brutal horrible delicious and so overwhelming you’re surprised you’re conscious through it—every hair is standing up on end and your body pulls tight like a bowstring, arching your backside into his hips so you can feel every inch of your cunt sucking around him.
It’s bliss—sickeningly sweet, burning like fire through you—without thinking, you eagerly lick the scarlet liquid off his hand and fuck somehow, somehow, it tastes even better than it smelled—feels like you could live off just the blood in your mouth but you want more, you’d die for it, you’d do anything, and your teeth are bared ready to puncture his skin deeper when—
Cold steel slides up under your jaw, almost nicking one of the veins pumping blood up to your hazy brain. “Keep—ahh, yesss…d-damn it—keep still,” the slayer rasps. “No teeth.”
He’s not finished.
Every muscle in your body aches for you to ignore him, but the knowledge of how easily he could separate your head from your body makes you obey, dragging your tongue over his still-bleeding cut instead of biting down. You can hear the noises of damp skin against skin issuing out from where your bodies meet, but you’re not sure whether it’s from you lapping at his fingers or his cock pressing in and out of your sopping-wet cunt. Probably both. Not that it matters.
The slayer’s head lowers—you know it by the angle of his cock inside your twitching pussy and the faint tickle of his hair brushing against the skin of your neck—and then you feel his teeth sinking into the side of your throat. They’re blunt, of course, as harmless as any human’s, but the primal dominance of the action sends a shudder through you.
“Not bad…looks like demons are good for something after all. I think I might just keep you,” the slayer laughs. His voice is too close—you want to flinch back, spit at him, bite—but you can’t. You’re helpless.
You’re weak.

Hi miss fables.
any tips on writing like you?
also can we get an ETA for Hawk and Thrust?(no pressure tho)
Oh my goodness what a polite salutation, I adore it!!!
Tips on writing like me?? suffer, daily. KIDDING. Kinda. This is a tough question to answer--there's no one-size-fits-all advice, especially when talking in terms of style. Every writer's style is different, each with its own little ticks and nuances, and everyone's gotta find their own groove. The best advice I can give is twofold:
First, practice, practice, practice. I've been at this for a long time, and I'm still learning and growing and changing. And practice different kinds of it, too. My educational and career background kept me working when I took a long hiatus from creative writing--lots of formal and scientific writing in college, lots of technical writing at work now--and the practice there certainly transferred to my jump back into creative writing after a decade. Write for you, write what you're passionate about, craft some emails, make magnet poetry, try to think of a new Wordle opener daily. It all adds up.
Second, read! Read a lot and read often. (I need to take my own advice here and pick up the pace with it again.) And read varied materials--anything that hooks you in. Read fanfiction, yes, but also please read novels. Or read short stories. Or comics. Read nonfiction. Read autobiographies. Read research papers. Read game guide books. Read screenplays and stage scripts and librettos. Read poetry. Read nature guides. Read news articles and editorials (and apply your beautiful critical thinking skills!). Read obituaries. Read how-to guides. Read song lyrics. And in figuring out the things you enjoy reading, think about why you enjoy them. Take what that creator's done and--going back to point one--try to apply it to your own work. Experiment and branch out. Bringing these pieces you like together is what coalesces your own style.
That's the best I can do, besides like--just saying to suffer again, because that's sometimes how it feels on my end, lmao.
AS FOR Hawk and Thrust! Hah! It is still underway after this weird week of floating in Listlessness City. I don't have an exact ETA on it yet, but I'm finally feeling the weirdness of...well, all That lift off of me. And now I'm more determined than ever to bring y'all this ✨Officially Canon Divergent✨ Between-Installments Smut. What do I have to lose at this point? I'm also brewing a Number of other HFW-adjacent pieces (at lots of different spots on the spectrum of canon divergence and canon compliance), so watch this space?! I promised y’all I was only going to get Worse about these two. I'm about ready to fistfight with a god.

Phantom Children [DP x Batman Crossover] Ch. 1
Disclaimer: It's been a while since I watched DP and the only Batman/DC stuff I've interacted with are B:TAS, the JL cartoons, and what I got from fandom osmosis so don't expect any sort of canon compliance.
In Which: the author takes advantage of the passage of time in Nanda Parbat being wonky and Danny doesn't give up, per se, but is sort of resigned to being stuck with the League of Assassins until further notice.
AO3 | Prologue | [ 1 ] | 2 |
CW for descriptions of non-consensual drug use (if there's anything you guys would like me to tag, please tell me)
-----
WHEN SOMETHING WENT WRONG WITH DANNY’S LIFE, it was usually because of one or two things: Ghosts or Vlad. And considering their truce and how even Vlad wouldn’t go this far (at least, Danny hoped), Danny was kidnapped because of ghosts. Or his association with ghosts.
Though how an organization of ninja-assassins got wind of his ‘unique’ circumstance was beyond him. The shackles they slapped on his wrists were more a formality than anything after the second time he tried to escape them with intangibility. The only reason they managed to get him contained the entire trip from Amity Park to wherever the fuck Nanda Parbat lay was because of the cocktail of drugs they pumped into his system spiked with blood blossoms.
Danny had to give it to them. The League of Assassins might not have any anti-ecto weaponry, but they did their homework.
He barely remembered the trip. He catches flashes—blurry figures and words he couldn’t comprehend. A warm hand holding his, a thumb rubbing smooth circles on the back of his palm and calloused fingers running through his hair.
When he awoke, it was in a room bigger than his bedroom. His ankle was shackled to a bedpost, and the only door leading out was locked. There was a separate room for the bathroom off to the side and a shelf stacked with books decorating the otherwise bare walls, but other than that there wasn’t much else. Not even windows.
Intangibility, he learned, wasn’t an option. The blood blossoms in his bloodstream were still in circulation, rendering his transformation useless. If his nose was right, his captors were pumping blood blossoms from the vents. The sickly sweet of the flower was faint in the cool air, but the slight red haze that persisted in the room was unmistakable.
He tried, regardless. The rings barely made it half-way before his knees buckled and he started retching all over the floor. At least his stomach was empty.
-------
Danny doesn’t know how long he’s been in Nanda Parbat. Time moved differently here. Faster, he thought. He doesn’t really understand how or why, though sometimes he wondered what Clockwork thought of all of this.
(There are times, in the darkness and solitude of his cell, when Danny would call for Clockwork to rescue him. Quietly, so quietly, it was barely even a whisper. But Clockwork would hear it—Danny was sure he would. Clockwork helped him out before, so this time shouldn’t be all that different. But at the end of the night, nothingness would answer him. And Danny had to learn over and over again that even the Ghost of Time had his own rules to follow.)
It had taken a few days and Talia nearly biting the head off of the League’s physician for them to realize that blood blossoms would be an awful way to contain him. Effective at immobilizing him, yes, but the flowers left him about as helpless as Superman in a kryptonite cave.
“It all works out in the end,” Talia would say. “The blossoms were never going to become a long-term solution; you might end up developing an immunity to them given enough exposure.”
Though knowing now what Talia’s ‘long-term plan’ was for making sure Danny didn’t slip through the walls of the headquarters and fly across the ocean, Danny would rather take his chances with the blood blossoms.
Danny might not have been as smart as Vlad, but he was tricky and creative when he needed to be. He knows he’s powerful. And sure, he might forget some of his own abilities every now and then, but that doesn’t mean he can’t use them. In the time he’s been stuck in the Leage’s lair (and coherent), Danny had thought of a dozen escape plans, each one with a high chance of success. If he made an attempt, he could guarantee the League wouldn’t notice until he was a quarter-way across the globe.
Escaping wasn’t the problem. That would be the easy part.
His core burned at the thought of it. And it hurt—as if his entire being was dunked in a vat of dry ice and left to freeze. He hated how he was here and everything that he was protecting was far. Away.
Danny wanted to go home. Wanted to read comic books in his bed, play Doom with Tucker and Sam, sleep in class and make fun of the Box Ghost. He wants to eat his mom’s food, even if there’s a fifty-fifty chance that it would come alive and try to eat him instead. He wants to listen to Jazz try to psychoanalyze his problems. Wants to go fishing with his dad and eat his famous chocolate fudge. Wants to fly above the skies of Amity Park and touch what little he can of the universe before he’s called down again.
Amity Park is his haunt. His Home. The soft hum of the Ghost Portal in the basement a lullaby he’s listened to for so long that sleeping without it was next to impossible. Every fiber of his being craved to go back because how is he supposed to protect Amity if he isn’t there?
But to go back meant sacrificing everyone.
Danny doesn’t risk it.
(The—the last time was an accident. If Danny isn’t—if he isn’t careful, this time it may be an assassination. He refused to have his family’s death on his hands again.)
He has faith in Sam, Tucker, and Jazz to hold down the fort until he could find a way to escape. They’re smart. Smarter than him. They’ll work something out and—in a worst-case scenario, they’ll find a way to shut down the Ghost Portal to stop the ghosts from coming through.
Logic meant nothing to his ghost core, though. The next best thing to do was to drown out his worries with the League’s rigorous education.
Hand-to-hand and weapons combat. Geography. History. Dozens of foreign languages. Poisons and herbology and basic first-aid. His days are packed with new things to learn and to repeat until it’s drilled into his skull so deep he could recite the information in his sleep. (Hyosycamus niger, aka Henbane. Every part is highly toxic and can cause dizziness, stupor, insanity, and eventual death. It’s medicinal uses range from--)
The League demanded perfection. The Demon’s Head demanded even more than that.
Talia oversaw his education. Sometimes, there would be another, older, man by her side, observing his regimen with cold calculation. Whenever that man arrived, Danny’s instructors were always stricter.
His teachers made little effort to interact with him outside of their set schedule, and during his lessons they only ever answer pertinent questions. He supposed there would be other students of the League in Nanda Parbat, but he’s seen neither hide nor hair of them. His rooms (a bedroom + bathroom combo that led out into a large indoor space for training) are separate from everything else.
Danny slept alone, ate alone, and trained alone. And for a boy who has had his two best friends stuck to his side like glue for as long as he could remember, it’s a terribly lonely experience.
His shadow guards don’t count. They might as well be another piece of furniture. Another stone in the wall.
-------
Talia was the only one that broke his new mundane routine, as much as she was the cause of it. She was his only source of companionship in this hell hole; the only one who would really speak to him. And yeah, he knew why that was. Jazz had rambled on enough about Stockholm syndrome to know that this ‘arrangement’ was Talia’s attempts at forging a bond between them. But godit’s just so hard to be stuck inside your own mind all day when. It made him think too much. Worry. (Whatifwhatifwhatifwhatif).
And then—
And then.
Danny had asked Talia a multitude of questions, but only two did she ever answer. Both asked when he was still trying to flush the drug cocktail and the blood blossoms from his system.
The first was when he asked, “Why am I here?” She answered that it was because Ra’s al Ghul, her father, wanted him. He had knowledge the Demon’s Head wanted; powers that Ra’s could only ever dream of. The man was curious—though Talia assured him over and over again that Danny wouldn’t be vivisected and studied for science.
The second answer came right after when Danny asked her “How could you be so sure?”
Talia smiled. Lacquered fingers coming up to brush away the dark strands that fell over his face. Her hands traced the curve of his jaw, cupping his cheeks to raise his eyes to hers. “Because you are my son,” she said, voice honey sweet.
He jerked from her hold.
Burned by it.
“You’re lying,” he spat. “I’m already someone else’s son. Try again.”
Talia let her hands drop to her sides. “You are my son.” She took a step closer towards him. Steady. Firm. “That is why you are here.”
“I don’t believe you.”
A pitying smile. “Be that as it may, you cannot change the truth.” She approached him, slowly backing him against the wall before she reached out to tilt his chin upwards. Some traitorous part of Danny’s mind catalogued her features. Made connections that shouldn’t exist. “I have carried you in my womb, Daniel. You were a part of me for so very long and I loved you more with each passing day. You are of my body and of my blood—not matter how much you may deny it.”
“No.” He pushed her hands away and raked his hands over his hair. “You’re lying.” She must be. They don’t look alike. Not at all. Everyone always said he was his dad’s—Jack Fenton’s—exact copy. Black haired and blue eyed and sharp-jawed. Awkward but well-meaning and with a heart of gold, his mother said. It was once of the facts of life; Danny took after his dad, and Jazz took after their mom. Simple as that.
(There is a memory resurfacing from his early childhood that Danny is desperately trying to repress again. Memories of kids teasing him on the playground, innocently cruel in the way only children can be as they tried to convince him he was adopted. That his skin looked nothing like his parents’. Dusky where his parents and sister were fair. He went home crying to his parents that same day, and they soothed away his worries with hushed words and a well-timed distraction.)
He asked no more questions after that. Talia was lying to him for some reason, and no answer she could give would be trustworthy anyways. What little of him he could see in her was only a figment of his own imagination. His mind playing cruel tricks.
Then his hopes were dashed aside when Talia showed him a picture of his father a day later.
The man in the photo looked like him. Black haired and eyes the same shade of too-bright blue. There were differences, of course. The man in the photograph was fairer, unlike Danny. He was taller and broader where Danny was lean and lanky. But despite this and all the other minute differences, this man who was supposed to be Danny’s biological father looked like him.
The same slant of the brow. The same shape of the eyes. The way the man held himself with this sense of gravitas and power that Danny couldn’t yet do in his awkward teenage years but had seen before. In a monster another man.
Danny’s future self was terrifying in its inhumanity, but it didn’t take that much of an imagination to know that he looked almost exactly like the man in the picture.

Headcanons for ADHD characters Masterlist
I was asked for this a while ago and I feel this is a good discussion subject because the canon representation for ADHD is kind of abysmal and is often a caricature or a joke.
usual disclaimer, I'm not a therapist, this is not a diagnosis tool, just for fun, etc etc...basing this on my own experience/knowledge with ADHD and meeting a lot of ADHD people IRL. I'm going off the main symptoms first (inattention and/or hyperactivity, restlessness, impulsivity, problems with emotional/focus regulation, daydreaming, messiness, hyper-focus, fidgeting etc) and then looking at character traits that are not a necessary symptom but often associated (substance abuse and addiction, need to please, sensitivity to rejection, compassionate and creative, thrill seeking, very imaginative, charming and witty or withdrawn and shy or angry and irritable, whimsical and fun and a bit child-like, out of the box thinker, self esteem issues, unstable life, comorbidity with anxiety and depression, very intense feelings, functions better with adrenaline/in an emergency, disregard for rules and problems with authority OR extreme compliance, codependency, perceived as weird, clever in an atypical way, problems in school, extremely good at one specific thing, etc)
Also I found this list with actual canonical representation
BOOKS :
The 'fits to a T so I'm seeing it as my personal canon' list :
note : doesn't mean that the authors actually meant to create representation but it's very likely they at least got inspired by people who did have ADHD (even when the diagnosis itself did not exist) and explained it with 'it's just their personality' OR the story happens in a setting where the label doesn't exist as such. also not meant to be exhaustive.
- Helen Burns (from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë) One of Jane's school friends from the start of the novel, fits the inattentive type to a T : she can't seem to focus or learn her lessons, is constantly daydreaming, describes herself as messy and careless, forgets rules, and is easily distracted. She talks constantly about her own 'defective nature' and seems very sensitive to criticism but incapable of changing. She doesn't defend herself against the nuns' harsh punishments as she thinks she deserves them. She's presented as kind-hearted and compassionate, almost too good for this world, and hyperfocuses on her faith. Apparently sb even wrote an academic article on this. She dies so it's not super fun representation but it is interesting to see in an older book, to push back against the idea that ADHD was invented yesterday by Big Pharma lol.
- Grantaire (from Les Miserables, Victor Hugo) Part of the student revolutionary group Les Amis de l'ABC and resident skeptic, does not believe in the cause but is fixated on the group's idealistic leader (and yeah it sounds very gay, they die holding hands, there is a lot of Symbolism). He spends his time ranting about things that are only vaguely connected, is described as brilliant but incapable of sticking to any one profession or hobby, is an alcoholic, has a creative streak (was a painter at some point), likes wandering around the city, has massive self-esteem issues and is a general mess but does seem to care about his friends. This is not a very flattering portrayal as Grantaire is described as morally deficient but again, interesting in an old book. ADHD!Grantaire is a popular take in the modern fandom (i was in it before I was diagnosed it brought up a lot of Things) and it's very cathartic to see him get actual therapy in fic lmao.
- Luna Lovegood (from the Harry Potter series) JKR sucks but this is probably the most high profile case of a possible inattentive ADHD character so I didn't want to leave it out. She's a daydreamer, she is a big space cadet and seems to live in her own world, she has a very out of the ordinary sense of style, she's bullied for being weird, but she's also very kind and perceptive and cares a lot about her friends, and good at coming up with out of the box solutions. I wouldn't call it good representation, she's described as a wacko whom a lot of characters find cringeworthy but she's also pretty heroic, so. And she does seem to hyperfocus on magical creatures. Plus her father could also have it (and it runs in families).
- Jasper Fahey (from Six of Crows duology, Leigh Bardugo) Part of a young group of thieves with a heart of gold, he's a charmer and a compulsive gambler who quits college and incurs debts so massive he stops talking to his father out of shame. He's also an extremely talented sharpshooter and the scenes where he describes how the whole world slows and the rush of adrenaline when he is shooting sound like hyperfocus to a T. He's a loyal friend but also quite dependent on Kaz, the leader of the group, to keep him in line. He's witty, messy and he likes danger. His boyfriend later in the series, Wylan, is dyslexic and the way they learn to accommodate each other's issues honestly makes them one of my favorite couples ever. I need to reread these books and I am so stoked for the series I hope they do Jasper justice.
- Julian Diaz (from Cemetary Boys, Aiden Thomas) Love interest of the book, introduced as the 'high school resident bad boy', energetic motormouth who can't sit still and actually very endearing, has issues in school and gets bored easily, main problem is that he's a ghost...sort of. The whole thing was very cute and I love that Julian's personality is described as fun and attractive instead of annoying (which is, if you haven't noticed already, a pattern).
- Evie O'Neill (from the Diviners series, Libba Bray) She's a flapper in 1920s New York who ran away from her boring little town to make a life for herself ; she's a party girl and an impulsive thrill-seeker who hates standing still and is always looking for excitement to 'fill the void'. She craves fame and attention and pretty things, she can be a loyal friend but is also frequently self-centered and forgetful, she's street smart, resourceful and very charming and witty. She's also grieving, drinks too much and is definitely depressed. She's obviously meant as an archetype of the era, caught between trauma and excess, but it does come over as very hyperactive ADHD as well. Her powers to read objects also really pinged me as a good metaphor for the ADHD tendency to be overwhelmed by details.
The 'bit more of a reach but there's a vibe' list :
- Emma Woodhouse (from Emma, Jane Austen) Frequently cited as a character with ADHD, I didn't come up with this one but she fits. She's daydreaming, easily bored, has flights of fancy and hyper-focuses on matchmaking, is a bit impulsive and thrill seeking, clever in an unconventional way, described as a bit immature, mix of caring and self-centered.
- Ronan Lynch (from the Raven Cycle, Maggie Stiefvater) Ronan just has Neuroatypical Vibes, even though it's not entirely clear what, and I've seen people label him all sorts of things which is very valid. As for ADHD, he's restless, impulsive, likes to Go Fast and do street racing, he has very strong emotions he doesn't know what to do with, and big self esteem issues esp. at the start, is very all or nothing with people, snarky, drops out of school to be a magic farmer, problems with authority, looks like a scary mean goth but is actually a big softie (but like, with a few people), pulls shit out of his dreams. Is kind of dependent on his best friend at the start too.
- Sherlock Holmes (from the eponymous series by Arthur Conan Doyle) Again a character who has been diagnosed with all sorts of things. The biggest ADHD vibe for me is 'my mind rebels at stagnation' and the way he needs drugs to function outside of the thrill of a case, and the way he hyper-focuses on information he needs to be a detective while completely ignoring common knowledge. Also sort of dependent on his best friend Watson and isn't great at social interactions. Doesn't care much about upholding social conventions either. The RDJ adaptation is the one that has the most ADHD vibes to me.
- Harley Quinn (DC Comics/Movies) Big codependency issues (that's arguably the thing she's most known for) and sadly people with ADHD are often prone to getting into abusive relationships. It depends on the story too but she's very energetic, zany, impulsive, she likes shiny things and bright clothes, she's fun and chaotic and likes to break the rules, she's a criminal but she does seem to have a heart, she's also frequently immature and rash, etc.
What are your headcanons ? I would love to hear if you have some so I can add them to the list. I'll make a TV/Movies list soon.

Kliego Week 2020 Schedule
First off, I want thank everyone who shared, submitted and voted! Without further ado...the schedule!
Event dates: October 25 - October 31
Day 1 - Pre-Canon OR Canon Divergent
The battle of the canon! Choose between creating something prior to season 1, episode 1, while keeping it 100% within the canon set by the show OR change up any canon moment of your choice. Want a challenge? Give both a try in one project!
Day 2 - Teen!Kliego OR Outsider POV
Explore Klaus and Diego’s teenage years (pre-teen okay)! Or would you much-rather be the outsider looking in on their relationship. Whichever the route you choose, this is the day you’ll showcase it!
Day 3 - Kink/Smut OR Accidental Baby Acquisition AU
Show off your “naughty side” on this day! Dive deep into kinks, draw your headcanons for Kliego’s favorite positions, or share with us what you think if on Kliego’s sex playlist. What comes after sex? Sometimes it’s a baby! What would life be like in a baby, child, or preteen randomly dropped into Klaus and Diego’s life? Let us know!
Day 4 - Pining AU OR Fake Dating/Marriage AU
Who do you think is the master at pining? Klaus or Diego? Or maybe their mutual pining is so strong it’s affecting everyone else. Let us know how that goes! Take it up a notch with one of the top tropes in any fandom: fake dating/marriage. Who’s the fake datee in this scenario and why is the other going along with it? It wouldn’t be too hard to blend both these themes together if you’re inclined to do so!
Day 5 -Soulmates AU or Fairytale/Mythology AU
So many soulmate AU ideas. So little time! Seeing color when they meet their one true beloved. Soulmate tattoos. Countdown clock tattoo on their arm. Pick your favorite! Or add a little more magic by taking your favorite fairytale or myth and adding a little Kliego touch. The choice is yours!
Day 6 - Fall Centric AU or Hurt/Comfort AU
The nights are longer and the chill has returned! Write Kliego enjoying (or hating) something Fall centric. From camping and s’mores to pumpkin-spiced lattes and knit scarves, the possibilities are endless. Or you may be wanting a little more angst in your life and when it comes to Klaus and Diego....they usually aren’t that far away. Put us in our feels. I promise we can take it!
Day 7 - Halloween AU OR Dealer’s Choice
The perfect way to end spooky season! Maybe Klaus drags Diego out to a Halloween party. Maybe they’re apartment neighbors and having a door decorating competition with each other....Maybe Halloween isn’t your thing? That’s okay too! This day is also Dealer’s Choice, meaning you can create anything based on any theme your heart desires!
I may create a list of resources for each day to help get the creative juices flowing if that’s something you’re interested in!
Remember, the only rules are the have fun, share your love for Kliego out loud and be respectful of others! The only themes that require some sort of canon-compliance is the first day’s themes (and even then, you can probably find a work around!).

Canon, Outside Canon, or Non Canon?
That canon anon is saying partly what I was trying to say. And yes, both interpretations can coexist in meta works like HS, but whether that’s your cup of tea or not depends on whether you prefer canon compliance, non canon compliance, or in-between.
asfsaf, honestly I’m so sorry, this seems interesting, and well put, but I am not able to read this atm and I don’t want to hold this essay on my asks until like, tomorrow or Sunday, soooo if any of y’all wanna check it before I do, here:
People who lean more towards canon tend to favor concrete info and develop something already established.
In-between is tricky. It’s a fragile balancing act that if you don’t scale it fairly (however “fair” means to you), a writer may face backlash from either parties. Fanfiction generally are outside canon unless confirmed or firmly denied that it would happen by the authors of the original work themselves.
Others that choose non-canon compliance are very comfortable with/pick creativity and freefall with ideas not stated or implied within canon. AUs usually are in this category unless the concept of alternate universes exist as a concept in the story.
Note: This is a case of “it’s a continuum, not a binary”.
A sort-of comparison can be made to this:
Tumblr media
It’s the main reason why people who lean towards canon compliance more are quick to spot inconsistencies. Sudden changes are annoyances- like a timeskip of a character suddenly “acting OOC” because of something that was never thoroughly implied or outright stated previously. Unintended continuity errors are a pet peeve.
“…divergent thinking concentrates on generating a large number of alternative responses including original, unexpected, or unusual ideas. Thus, divergent thinking is associated with creativity. Convergent thinking involves finding only the single correct answer, conventional to a well-defined problem."
Homestuck^2 went on a drive with Divergent Thinking in the front & Non-Canon Compliance in the backseat, downed at least 6 bottles, and went on an excursion to crash a lot of previously established facts and ran with it. While the story serves as an encouragement for fans to make their own Homestuck continuation, it did irk some readers for the reasons above. For readers who prefer to lift off gradually from the canon, it doesn’t matter whether a character is turned into a refreshing symbol for a number of people- it’s usually not what the change represents, it’s the sudden change itself. However, for people who are okay with these have the advantage of enjoying them by being more flexible by a large margin. (Note: I’m using these as examples with objective readers in mind. I neither condone the toxic side of the fandom nor exempt how some of the creators lashed out.)
Some things to think about whether a work is canon, outside canon, or non-canon:
How do you draw the line between character development and OOC?
How would you know it isn’t simply just the character having experienced a vast amount of time for that person to change a core element of who they are or were? Look closer. Maybe you’ll find hints that this character is undergoing something. Do you see any faint connection for the alteration? If not, it may be a case of OOC-ness handled wrong. After that, go back and think ”What makes this character xir own and not somebody else?“. There’s canon Roxy, there are outside canon Roxys. Roxies. Whichever.
A way to avoid the readers splashing in cold water is to make the development happen on-screen. Otherwise, it’ll be like one of those episodes where the MC wakes up to find his loved one suddenly confessing that xe’s not who xe really is. Making a character simply explaining that "people change overtime” feels more like a cop-out when, from a reader’s perspective, is done so swiftly and in-your-face.
Is it ever justified that a character is OOC?
This is a risky question to even answer. It highly depends on the character’s mentality. It’s like seeing someone known for patience to suddenly snap. Or a normally upbeat person to have a single moment of quiet forlorn. Or a pacifist having promised to fight someone. Sometimes, characters experiencing this type of OOC-ness is a writer’s way of saying “hey, this person has extra dimensions & limitations”. OOC Is Serious Business.
Whenever Batman displays emotions, it’s an indicator of who Bruce is inside despite rarely letting them show. How do we justify that outside of said display? Through his actions. We know beforehand that he’s a caring but jaded person, but he still fights for what good is left in the city of rampant crime. And when we do get that in retrospect, that’s when we see that perhaps that character’s never been Out-Of-Character at all. It’s when it serves as a hint AND a callback to a character’s past that resonates with them that it’s enough to let it happen from time to time- usually when the psyche’s at a critical point. It compliments the usual personality as a contrast. It doesn’t even have to be anything crucial. Can be as simple as not liking a music genre anymore.
Another reason for OOC-ness is when the character is transferred to a different place for several months. Different culture, different accents, different dialects, different other things. People tend to mimic what’s around them when steeped long enough.
*Headcanons are OOC by nature of it not existing in the first place. Even if it’s connected to a personality trait, it’s still something that hasn’t been entrenched in the original framework of reference. These are often the most biased and it’s usually done for readers to see themselves or other people in those characters. Headcanons can also be creative and shouldn’t be forced on others/stated as fact. It also shouldn’t be shot down just because it’s just an idea from someone else or your own.
Is deconstruction of a trope/archetype/stereotype even necessary when it’s something that most people already enjoyed?
First, by necessary, I mean, has it been done over and over already  to the point that it’s repetitive? Have you tried giving your own twist to the deconstruction to make it unique (e.g. a mean girl who’s only kind to animals)?
Why do you deconstruct it? What purpose does it serve to the message or theme of a story?
Once you’ve mulled it over, how about a reconstruction?

How did you come up with Kotaro's zanpakuto? (i really love the bird theme of his attacks!) did you go through a lot of changes when coming up with names, abilities, and the general concept?
Tumblr media
{ ooc } bUCKLE UP KIDDOS ‘CAUSE IT’S TIME FOR SOME LONG OVERDUE GODDAMNED KŌTA META-
Kōta’s zanpakutō was essentially conceived out of my own love for great big storms and heavy winds – and yes, I have a story to go with that! On one occasion many years ago, I hopped on a bus to visit a friend in town, but I was ill-prepared in that it was about to rain heavily and I had jack shit but a jacket. No raincoat and not even an umbrella. I thought I would make it there on time, buuuuut evidently, I did not. It already started raining and thundering hard by the time I walked out of the bus and had to walk a few blocks by myself.
And honestly, Plouton, looking back? I would not have changed a single little detail that day. Those several minutes I spent outside at the mercy of a live thunderstorm left such a huge impression on me! The incessant rain keeping me tethered to the ground, the sheer volume of deafening thunder cracking so hard and so loudly that the air around me quaked... pair that with times I’ve enjoyed feeling myself at the mercy of heavy winds, or even the smell of the outside after rain falls...
Tumblr media
...pretty much all of that served as the biggest source of inspiration behind the wind and storm-oriented zanpakutō, and I wanted Kōta to embody that himself.
Besides, aside from Senna herself in Memories of Nobody, the Gotei 13 lacked a dedicated air-manipulating shinigami barring Kensei’s unique take on the topic with Tachikaze, and we’ve only seen antagonists use this power (Dordoni of the Arrancar within the main story, Kariya if you want to go filler with the Bounts... whom I’ve honestly forgotten about prior to creating Kōta WHOOPS) in the traditional sense. Not to mention, air as an element is SUPER malleable and there’s so much you can do with it if you get creative?? So, given we’ve got some real powerful element-leaning shinigami already with water (lbr Kaien would’ve been a beast had he not been nixed), fire (Yama), snow (Tosh), and electricity (Sasakibe), why not keep adding to the idea?
With that, we’ve got the main concept locked down. Powers and general theme? Check. Bird-like zanpakutō spirit? Check. Defined attacks? ...noooooot quite there yet—in fact, those were a fairly late addition well after the blog reboot. As for what led to it, this never took off since the other mun blipped on an indefinite hiatus, but our thread would have likely turned into a fight thread between our muses and uh...
Tumblr media
...yeah, I realized named techniques are kind of an important thing to have, especially when writing within the context of an action-oriented series like Bleach. It wasn’t just about the cool factor, but having a readily available kit for reference (for myself, my writing partners, and folks reading in) was a must, not to mention it helped better define just what his main friggin’ weapon is capable of like those of most of the existing cast. In case a fight thread does come around in the future, it’d be an ideal thing to have ready to go and bring him further up to par with other fighters!
Just like that, I subjected myself to extra homework. Coming up with the moves themselves came to me simply enough, in seeing how air was played with in other media I was familiar with (key ones being Sonic the Hedgehog, The Legend of Zelda, and Avatar: The Last Airbender) and fashioning some of my own spins on top of some original ideas. I knew I wanted to lean hard on the bird motif since his zan spirit is a tengu, and given the wide variety of things the element of air/wind can do, I thought to make full connections between the two by theming each special move after certain species of bird! Creating those moves and naming them were the easy parts.
Naming them, that is, in English. Naming them all in Japanese was, by far, the hardest part. Why? Parce que je ne suis pas japonais, et aussi parce que je ne parle pas la langue, you see. On top of language barriers, the Japanese tongue operates on a whole other set of rules, compared to the Latin/Germanic-based ones I’ve grown used to with English, French, and (at one point) German. I did take some Japanese classes as an elective back in university, but that was only in first year – my own understanding, as a result, was threadbare and surface level at best, so that was not going to get me anywhere. I did not want to half-ass it with romaji and I love Bleach too much to not want to do these ideas justice.
Tumblr media
I am a stickler when it comes to detail and canon-compliance, so getting the naming right by abiding to the proper conventions as best as I possibly could became my topmost priority. Google Translate was not going to fly because lord knows it’s no good without proper context between wholly different languages in English and Japanese, and it only gets wilder once you throw Chinese into the mix, given I’m supposed to use kanji. Thus, the name of the game here turned out to be “reverse engineering,” and I had to go in accepting I probably wasn’t going to get it 100% right the first time.
“What rules do zanpakutō names and special attack names follow?” “How do I apply on- or kun-reading in spelling out a group of certain kanji?” “Where are the common denominators in those rules that I can identify?” “Which language conventions have I already picked up from watching god knows how much anime over the years that I can replicate?” “Which set of words best conveys this particular English word that has no direct Japanese translation?” “How does [x] roll off the tongue? Does it sound right and fluid enough, or does it still feel super stilted and weird?” It was a loooooooot of this until I was finally satisfied with each individual end result!
Tl;dr: Jisho.org and Wikipedia were godsends during this whole process. I also want to thank @tigrextoque who gave me some helpful pointers after the fact!
Tumblr media
ALSO... the ones on the Battle Info page aren’t even all of the ones I’ve thought about. Because I’m a glutton for punishment apparently, I purposely went and submitted a request for a certain ask meme on an ask meme source blog, JUST so I could play around with more ideas that came or would come to mind. This time, however, it was through the form of COMBINATION ATTACKS (which, by virtue alone, are honestly peak awesomeness). Those that implicated other shinigami got new bird motifs to meld the aesthetics of both muses, while I did get a couple of Quincy ones (with their referenced attacks actually using romaji as a base! Whoo-hoo for saving me the effort!) as a bonus to mix things up!
I’ll link them all right here (and later on the Battle Info page) for your convenience:
Noboru no mai, Shiro Fukurō (騰の舞・白梟, Rising Dance, Snowy Owl), with Rukia Kuchiki
Ahōdori Kyōka: Flying Battery (群烏強化: フライング バッテリー, Albatross Strengthening: Flying Battery) with Bambietta Basterbine
Muragarasu Kyōka: Galvano Volley (群烏強化: ガルヴァノ ボレー, Flock of Crows Strengthening: Galvano Volley), plus upgraded variant Muragarasu Kyōka: Galvano Storm (群烏強化: ガルヴァノ ストーム, Flock of Crows Strengthening: Galvano Storm), with Candice Catnipp
Hagetaka Rinbu (禿鷹輪舞, Vulture Round Dance) with Rangiku Matsumoto
Senkō-fū: Kitsutsuki (穿孔風: 啄木鳥, Drilling Wind: Woodpecker) with Nemu Kurotsuchi
Gyaku-fū Fūsa: Benizuru (逆風封鎖: 紅鶴, Headwind Blockade: Flamingo) with Byakuya Kuchiki
Hikuidori Hinshō (火食鳥 頻傷, Cassowary Frequent Cuts) with Ueno Chie
Yes, “Flying Battery” was a deliberately written Sonic the Hedgehog reference. No, I will never apologize for that.
...might I reblog that meme again in the future though...?
...probably not right away.
Tumblr media
So, uh... Plou, I should probably apologize for giving you a lot more than you likely bargained for, but hey, I just didn’t want to leave any stone unturned! Thank you so much for sending me your three questions, I enjoyed writing these little deep dives into my Bleach OC, and thanks for taking interest in Kōta! I hope all of my responses have been both enlightening and to your satisfaction.
