I regret to inform you that this mission will take longer than we had anticipated. The demon is clever and has put up a strong fight. There is nothing I hate more than being away from you for this long, especially with the baby on the way, but I suppose I must.

Simon Riley who gets your initials tattooed over his heart, but not in the conventional way.

The idea of getting your full name spooks him, cause what if he gets captured and some enemy agent sees? It's just too much of a risk for him. But initials are safer. Twice as much if they're hidden behind roman numerals.

So he reveals his new ink one day, during a quiet moment a few weeks after he gets it once it's healed up. He explains what the roman numerals are (they correspond to letters of the alphabet: A would be I, B is II, and so on) and what they mean, and you spend so long marveling at Simon's dedication that it takes you a minute to notice something... strange.

"There's no number for my last name."

He takes your hand, puts it over the numbers, and puts his forehead on yours.

"That's cause I'm hopin' you'll let me put the number 18 there, love."

Constantine has found an, as the colloquial term would be, easy mark.

He's just found out that the High Prince of the Infinite Realms is a freshly dead fourteen year old. And like, yeah, sucks that the kid died, he feels for him.

But also; the kid has a problem that's ridiculously easy to solve.

The American Government is trying to declare war on the realm that holds all universes together, and Constantine knows a few people who can bring that to light and get that shit shut down real fucking quick.

So he goes to Amity Park, to the little Prince's haunt so he can pin him down, help him out for "free", and work out a deal to call the American Government off.

Except the kid just wants him to do his stitches. Because the American Government wasn't bluffing, and has developed weapons that can and will harm the fabric of reality.

John does the kids stitches. They aren't very good, but they're the best he can do.

He sticks around.

He patches the little Prince up.

He...he gets attached.

He watches the GIW actually hurt the kid, seriously, to the extent that he actively steps in and gets himself labeled a terrorist by taking them out.

Now he's got an angry Big Three on the line, demanding to know what is going on, and he's realizing that he's a little past tricking a deal out of a kid that has too much power.

It's personal.

Hope you’re okay all the way out there in America. Tell your family hi for me, won’t you? I’ve missed you a lot lately… but you’re doing important stuff so I shouldn’t be getting upset over it. But I do wish you were here to help me clear the team’s plates when we head out to eat together, I can’t eat that much on my own. I think everyone misses you, so make sure to get back in one piece.

I’ve just been thinking about the day we met. When I just about killed you with that funky spike and you just didn’t care. I mean, “that was fun, do it again!”??? What were you thinking? You didn’t even want to go to the nurse when your nose was bleeding. You’re nothing like Kiyoko-san, or Hitoka-chan, or even the guys on the team. Hell, even I wouldn’t’ve laughed it off like you did, not with a spike right to the face.

I think that’s what makes you so likable. I mean yeah, you’re pretty and friendly and whatever, but you’ve got a spark to you. Like a firework. And I don’t know anyone else that has that same sort of spark.

Anyhow, that’s not the point. Stay safe out there, don’t do anything too stupid, and make it back soon. I’ll be waiting… I would say patiently but we both know that’s a lie.

The Flash fam has a secret. Okay so they have a lot of secrets, but there's one above all others.

A kill on sight order.

In the worst possible future (one of them there's a lot), a beast named Phantom decimated the world. He took out the entire Justice League, the entire Justice League Dark, any and all small-time heroes that stood in his way. All of it. Everyone.

If they see Phantom as a kid, to prevent the slightest possible chance of Phantom being a thing, it's kill on sight. They all have anti-ghost weapons that can destroy a ghost's core, locked away in a secure facility that they can just run to and grab real quick to get it done.

None of them like it. None of them can risk it.

Bart stumbles into a town that doesn't exist, almost gets got by a ghost that managed to possess him, and gets saved by...Phantom.

A scrawny, teenage Phantom.

He's funny, makes puns, worries about if Bart got hurt or not-he's nothing like the Bad Phantom!

He's not gonna kill his new friend! No way, no how.

But he's gotta keep it a secret from the other Speedsters now, because he doesn't know who came up with that rule but they probably won't understand, and then he'll have a speedster fight on his hands, and no one wants that.

But the government keeps sending letters of complaint to Max, and Max keeps asking why the government is mad at Bart now, and Bart can't tell him "oh it's because there's this town that is off the record and a secret and also where phantom is and i broke in" because that'd rat Phantom out, and even if he didn't mention Phantom Max would want to investigate.

The mailman doesn't understand why his letters keep disappearing but he thinks it might have something to do with the Flash, because there's always a red blur.
