Alito deserves to be peeled like a banana.
Follow my logic here. What's the easiest way to not get pregnant if you're denied any type of birth control? That's right. Masturbate instead. Otherwise you're just playing Russian roulette. What happens when entitled young men are denied sex? Instances of rape go up. If all their victims are forced to carry those kids to term then it's likely that they'll be a whole generation where kids that were unwanted accidents are the majority. Might as well make 'rapist' synonymous with 'father'. So much for their vaunted Republican 'respect' for the nuclear family unit. This is also about racism as much as it is hatred of women. When women are allowed to get an education and control their own lives and fertility; birth rates go down. People have the kids they can afford, or none at all. You end up with more old people on social security then young people in the workforce and paying taxes to support them. You fix this by allowing immigration, which racists don't want. They want more white people, who are demographically headed into the minority. So apparently the plan is to force white women to have babies? That doesn't really work either because poor people have the most frequent unplanned pregnancies, and they tend to be POC. But the adoption agencies are a huge money-making racket, and right now there just aren't enough white babies to satisfy every couple that wants one. Want proof?
Tumblr media
Q-publicans love it when there are more people then jobs. It lets them push wages down, entice desperate kids to join the army, or railroad them into jail so they can be forced to work for the private prison industry at sub-minimum wages. Also if they make getting/attempting to get an abortion a felony, [as is murder], then they can strip those women of their right to vote as well. And don't think that this doesn't affect you if you don't have a uterus. This is an assault on privacy and bodily autonomy. No one is ever pure enough for Nazi's. Speak up for others before they come for you.

I am somewhere between so furious I can't see straight & complete scream-sobbing-hair-pulling emotional breakdown.
At least now it should be clear to everyone that in the eyes of many people in power, women are not full human beings & we should have our constitutional rights stripped from us. This is only the beginning. They'll come for more. A national law is coming next. They are already talking about it. Then gay marriage, the morning after pill, right to contraception, interracial marriage, even the ability for women to hold their own bank accounts or own property without a male co-signer.
I will kill before I let myself become property. This is literally a subject I am willing to go to prison for. To women who won't be able to leave the country to get an abortion, I have a passport & I have no problem bringing medication back. I'm ready for this fight.

F THE COURT
Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas and the four other Supreme Court judges who voted to take away a woman’s right to choose on Friday can go f-ck themselves. And kiss my gay ass. So can anyone who wouldn’t vote for Hillary in 2016 because she wasn’t progressive enough or who just didn’t like or trust her. As for those who cast their vote for Trump, I hope hell does exist so you can spend…

Quote
"Justice Elena Kagan memorably castigated him for treating 'judging as scorekeeping,' whining about 'how unfair it is' when he loses, and repeating the same bad arguments 'at a higher volume.' Justice Sonia Sotomayor has repeatedly accused him of outright dishonesty by misrepresenting precedent and dangling false promises. In a fed-up dissent in just her first term, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson compared a Kavanaugh majority opinion to the children’s book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. [Samul] Alito’s rebuttal to Kavanaugh’s dissent in Sackett v. EPAconsisted of exactly one sentence: Kavanaugh’s argument, Alito wrote, 'cannot be taken seriously.'"
Justices are 'losing patience': Brett Kavanaugh skewered as a 'lightweight' in brutal analysis
Hold up.
This guy?
Tumblr media
“The consequences will extend long past my nomination. The consequences will be with us for decades. This grotesque character assassination will dissuade confident and good people of all political persuasions from serving our country, and as we all know, in the political system of the early 2000s, what goes around comes around.”
This piece of shit?
Tumblr media
The guy who spent his entire life as a right wing activist judge, who was part of the Brooks Brothers “riot”, snarled and barked and insulted the Senate Judiciary Committee during his farcical confirmation hearing, who lied repeatedly about his history of sexual assault, his gambling debts, and threatened to explicitly hurt people who he views as antagonistic to him ... turns out to be an intellectual lightweight in the mold of Thomas? He doesn’t give a flying fuck about law or justice or precedent, he just wants to hurt people he doesn’t like under the color of law?
Wow. None of us saw that coming.

I’m almost scared to ask. What happened with Bush v Al Gore?
Tumblr media
If you're interested in the full and sordid details, you can read the Bush v. Gore Wikipedia page, but here are the major points:
The 2000 presidential election was the closest in American history and the outcome was not known for over a month, thanks to election administration and ballot-issues fuckery in, you guessed it, Florida!
Al Gore won the popular vote by 0.5% (48.4% to George W. Bush's 47.9%), but third-party candidate Ralph Nader ran again and got almost 3 million votes, which took those critical numbers away from Gore;
Both candidates launched extended legal battles centered around the disputed election in Florida, where Republican Secretary of State Katherine Harris had hurried to formally certify Bush as the winner before all counties could be recounted or the lawsuits completed;
The case eventually reached SCOTUS, where they had to rule on whether the Florida Supreme Court could order the results recounted in either a few select counties or statewide;
Justice Antonin Scalia urged his conservative colleagues (as SCOTUS was then a 5-4 conservative majority) to immediately order the recount stopped, which would have the effect of preserving Bush's 537-vote lead, giving him Florida's 25 electoral votes and thus the presidency;
Said conservative SCOTUS then granted the halt, 5-4, in a decision where every single liberal justice wrote separate dissents;
The recount was stopped, Bush's lead was preserved, and he won the presidency despite losing the popular vote;
Later analysis found that a full statewide recount would have almost surely revealed that Gore was the real winner of Florida and thus the presidency;
SCOTUS ordering the recount halt thus directly (and illegitimately) handed the election to Bush, as Scalia and his conservative colleagues deliberately intended to do;
Bush then mishandled 9/11, started the War on Terror, invaded Iraq, nominated Roberts and Alito to the Supreme Court, crashed the economy, let Dick Fucking Cheney run things, etc etc
Good thing a conservative SCOTUS intervening to totally fuck us over and put their thumbs on the scale to electorally benefit Republicans never happened again!
(Wow, I feel old now. So yes. This is me sitting on a rocking chair on the porch, yelling at passing youths to LEARN SOME HISTORY.)

Elie Mystal covered the ridiculous, “Presidential Immunity” (aka, “Why Can’t Trump Be Treated Like A Dictator?”) case before SCOTUS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dreeben: "BECAUSE THERE WEREN'T CRIMES!" (he didn't yell, I did, but he said "because there weren't crimes." )
Oh God, now Roberts wondering if they should send it back to the DC circuit because he's worried about presidents getting prosecuted in bad faith.
Roberts: "The court of appeals did not get into a focused consideration of what facts we're talking about or what documents we're talking about... they did not look at what courts usually look at when... taking away immunity."
Is this motherfucker serious? His argument is "Every president coups, why is mine getting charged?"
Thomas: Are you saying there's no immunity even for official acts?
And... that could be the ballgame
Roberts, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh are more worried about a prosecutor going after a president for *political* reasons than A PRESIDENT TRYING TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT.
This is just about over.
And by "this" I mean the rule of law and by "over" I mean delayed indefinitely to help Trump.
Gorsuch suggesting that under the government's standard a president could be prosecuted for leading a "civil rights protest" in front of Congress and sought to "influence an official proceeding."
Yes, because Jan 6 and a fucking sit in are the same thing, Neil.
This is goddamn disgusting.
I'm going to keep listening because it is my literal job, but this is pretty much in the bag for Trump at this point. Remand to DC Circuit for decision on "official acts" and whether organizing a coup is one.
After November, if Trump loses, SCOTUS will return to the issue.
Alito: Are you really saying the president is subject to criminal laws like everybody else?
YES YOU DICK. THE PRESIDENT SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO THE LAWS LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE!
Alito: "I'm not talking about the particular facts of this case."
WHY? WHY THE HELL ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT THIS FUCKING CASE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU?
The question I'd have for the SCOTUS now is: If you do this, why would a Republican president every peacefully transfer power again?
Democratic presidents will because Democrats follow rules that don't apply to the other side. But why would Republicans just leave *ever again*?
Alito: Couldn't FDR's decision to inter Japanese Americans during WWII be charged [as a crime]?
He says that LIKE THAT'S A BAD THING?
And Dreeben is trying to say that he couldn't.
This country, and specifically this court, is a fucking joke.
Now onto self-pardons. Alito is just playing all the Fox News hits now.
I'm going to smoke. Biden should send Seal Team 6 to Mar-a-Lago because according to Alito there's no downside.
Alito just suggested that the last election was "questionably decided"
I have left my body and am texting things I can't say aloud to my friends.
Kagan is like the first person to be asking about the actual criminal acts Trump is charged with.
I assume Alito is not listening because Kagan is a woman while Gorsuch is probably sitting there emailing the New York Times because they got something wrong on the Spelling Bee.
I see the internet is unimpressed with Dreeben but that's being a little unfair. The Republican justices want to do this, there's nothing that Dreeben could say to stop them.
What he *could* be doing was making their hypocrisy more clear for the non-legal media following along.
But... SCOTUS advocates have to preserve their ability to argue another day, and blowing up the justices in one case
A: Doesn't help them actually win the case.
B: Actively hurts them in the next one.
Kavanaugh: "Like Justice Gorsuch, I'm not concerned with the here and now of this case, I'm concerned about the future."
I don't know why this is acceptable. I do know that the justices are sure they are right about ignoring the facts of THIS ACTUAL CASE.
Kavanaugh... who WORKED FOR KEN STARR... is basically saying that Jack Smith is politically motivated and his appoint in unconstitutional.
It's... maddening. And most of the media reports will not even point out this hypocrisy.
The "independent counsel" law was rewritten into our current "special counsel" law BECAUSE of the shit Kavanaugh helped Starr do! Everybody was like "that crap can't happen again."
Somebody get @neal_katyal and @MonicaLewinsky on the phone to blow up this asshole.
@neal_katyal @MonicaLewinsky Every time I try to no have a stroke listening to this bullshit, they say something even more risible and stupid.
@neal_katyal @MonicaLewinsky Kavanaugh: "President Ford's pardon. Hugely unpopular when he did it... now probably looked on as one of his better decisions."
What? WHAT? WHO THE FUCK THINKS FORD'S PARDON OF NIXON WAS A GOOD IDEA? WHEN DID I DIE AND GO TO HELL????
@neal_katyal @MonicaLewinsky This could be a men v. women 5-4 ruling.
Men: Let's kick this back to DC to further delay Trump's trial.
Soto, Kagan, Jackson: Why? That's fucking dumb.
Barrett: Ladies, I agree with you, but we shouldn't call the men fucking dumb. We should politely disagree.
@neal_katyal @MonicaLewinsky We're past the two and half hour mark for an argument where the Republican justices made their decision when they were appointed, some of them decades ago.
@neal_katyal @MonicaLewinsky KBJ is closing by trying to answer all of Gorsuch's questions, which would be effective if Gorsuch operated in good faith. But... he doesn't. So...
@neal_katyal @MonicaLewinsky I had hoped that *one* of the liberal justices would have made the point from the Common Cause brief, highlighting that the whole point of what Republican justices are doing is to give Trump delay.
Not a persuasive argument for the justices, but good for the media to hear.
@neal_katyal @MonicaLewinsky The case is submitted. Court doesn't come back till May 9th which will be a decision day.
But I think they won't decide *this* case until July 3rd for max delay. And that decision will be 5-4 to remand the case back to DC, for additional delay.
@neal_katyal @MonicaLewinsky I wish I had better news for you. Thanks anyway for following along with our national descent into madness.
