A Guide to London Buses for First-Time Visitors
Tumblr media
The thing about London's public transport is it works. As one of the world's most intricate public transportation systems, it's no surprise several countries have adopted systems like the London Underground. However, there is more to London commute than the tube. One of the other ways to explore London is by travelling by bus. Here is a guide to London buses for first-time visitors.
About
There is no better way to explore London than on the iconic double-decker buses. Your commute will explore top attractions, passing cool places to see in London along the way. Bus routes run throughout London 24 hours a day.
Stopping a bus
Buses usually stop only at designated bus stops in London. Requests for stops between bus stops are not honoured.
Notify the driver to let you off at the next stop by pressing a red button on the upright metal posts throughout the bus. A bell and a lit sign that says "bus stopping" will also likely be visible at the front of the bus.
Outer London bus routes have no fixed stops on some routes, so they are operated as hail-and-ride services. When the bus is in a "hail and ride" area, you can press the red button to signal the driver and get off at any safe location.
Planning your trip
Several London bus routes run 24 hours a day. You can find 24-hour buses on some London routes and look for buses marked with an "N" in front of their numbers - these buses cover the time between the tube closing time and the start of daytime bus services in London. In addition, most park grand hotels London are located within walking distance of a tube or bus station, making it easy for first-time visitors to access public transport.
Check the information boards at any bus stop or Trafalgar Square (the hub for night buses) if you are still getting familiar with the routes.
Travel information is available from the TfL Visitor Centre or online by browsing the London bus maps section. In addition, the Journey Planner from Transport for London lets you plan your bus route online.
Paying for your trip
It's easy to pay your London bus fare. Show the bus driver your paper Travelcard or Oyster card at the yellow card reader after you board. Ensure that only one card is touched on the yellow reader at a time to avoid clashes. If your Visitor Oyster card or Oyster card needs more credit, you can travel on a bus one more time before having to top it up. Arranging and topping up your travel Oyster Card ahead of your arrival is recommended for those travelling to London for the first time. Alternatively, please speak to the hotel staff at any hyde park hotel. They will gladly provide you with information on top-up points.
Fare Concessions
London offers several ways to save on bus and tram travel. A free ride is available for children under 11, and discounts are available for students and concession holders.

Hi, I recently found your account on Instagram and it took me to your blog here, I just wanted to say that I immediately LOVED your art style and how you take the characters and capture their essence to put them into different situations. Also, the placement of under-used characters is something that personally appreciate a lot. Your animations are AWESOME, they feel organic and made with tons of love for the franchise, keep doing AMAZING work :)
Thank you very very much! Everyone on Instagram has been lovely too, if I have to be honest I still prefer posting to Tumblr just because the platform lets me go so much more in depth with the context.
The Instagram page is live at professorcalculusstanacc, I'm still working on original content for this blog as usual but I have been posting silly stories with @tenderlyhands - go follow the page if you'd like!

This 16th-century artwork is of a 'haut', which are said to live in the trees. It has been identified with species of three-toed sloths such as Bradypus variegatus which are found in the forests of Central and South America. This artwork comes from 'Cosmographie universelle' (1575) by the French explorer and writer Andre Thevet (1516-1590). The book describes the history and geography of the lands in which Thevet had travelled. The two volumes contain over 1000 pages divided into 23 books. This woodcut is from chapter XIII of book XXI.

You swore that you loved me, but where were the clues? I died on the altar waitin’ for the proof. You sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days. And I’m just getting colour back into my face. I’m just mad as hell ‘cause I loved this place.

I couldn't stop thinking about an AU where Daniel resorts to gathering vitae again, this time to 'cure' Hazel, after his Brennenburg adventure💫, thoughts all mainly derived from this loadscreen text that tells us that Hazel is still in hospice care by the time the game's story began.
As much as I love Daniel, I don't think he really learned all that much from his experience even in the most charitable ending towards him in which he saves Agrippa. I can very, VERY easily see him slipping back into old ways if it meant saving Hazel. The most he seems to approach viewing torture as bad is when he realizes he himself no longer counts as an innocent so he can't justify killing others to save himself anymore. But killing no good, horrible, bad people to save HAZEL? Now, we're cooking with gas 😀 💀

I can do it with a broken heart has such a deep meaning and it's heartbreaking. All throughout the tour (or at least the first part of it before Travis, but probably not before Matty), she's sad (depressed as she said in that one line) about Joe, but she persists. She sings the happy songs and dances and releases albums while on the inside, she hurting, but she puts on a brave face. And that's why I find it so interesting that the lyrics are sad but also humorous, like she's trying to combat the sadness by adding sentences and phrases that are supposed to be funny. And then on top of that, she hides all of this under an infectious happy beat that almost makes you want to dance and sing-along. Even in the first verse she talks about how people are saying she's in her prime and she's having the time of her life when really she feels terrible. I also think I heard somewhere that the one, two, three , four, is what she hears in her ear on tour when she has to sing so just some food for thought.
