Damn atla fandom is always looking for the yin/yang dynamic and "soulmates" trope when in the canon series it's literally...... Zuko and Aang

I mean, Sokka IS absolutely Aang's best friend and brother, but the soulmates platonic bond belong to them

Enemies to friends, opposite elements in terms of temperament, both related to Roku and Sozin, both have "restore my honor" thing, both have scars from Azula, "the Avatar bring Zuko hope" line etc etc

They are meant to be friends bonded by the universe (Roku and Sozin again, hello?) and their respective paths were constantly intertwined. You learn about their backstories BY PARALLELS, BY DREAMS

“The storm” and "The Avatar and the Fire Lord" are two of my favorite episodes because it really highlights how their fates are intertwined

They are THE narrative foils of the series. From episode 1 until the very end you know they are connected

I mean look at Zuko here

You can’t tell me Zuko didn’t think about this convo/experience in general all the time before switching sides. He’s not angry or disappointed. He looks contemplative, like what Aang said really got to him, even if he doesn’t know it yet.

Aang couldn't never hate Zuko because he knew why Zuko was the way he was and Zuko was obsessed with him for 3 seasons.

In the end they are presented together side by side as the Fire Lord and the Avatar. Their union is what will bring peace

But since it's not a "romantic connection" this relationship is ignored bruh

And in a story about rumours and manipulations of truth-#its a good parallel to what we see in the main story!#we see the harm caused by trying to lie to be kind. NOW.#i will go first #verlaine bc he is meant to resemble 22chuuya but retains a relatively lighter créme color palette in contrast to chuuyas black mafia attire #which is deeply intriguing bc we know verlaine is one of stormbringer's main villains #to be portrayed in lighter colors--typically characteristic of the “good side” or divinity--while being the villain is interesting #this is reminiscent of verlaine's character and perspective towards chuuya #he believes he is an angel. a savior. offering grace towards chuuya by making him accept that he isn't human #when in reality he stands for everything chuuya does NOT want to become. alienated from his humanity and hateful towards humans #ANYWAY on a surface level it also represents him serving as chuuya's narrative foil. black and white. yin and yang #“in kindness there's evil” chuuya and “in evil there is kindness” verlaine #and they balance each other out that way #ANYWAY OMOMOMG LOTUS SHUT UP ABT STORMBRINGER CHALLENGE HAHAHAHAHAH ANYWAY #let's hear it guys #bsd

WBY: (stare at Ruby in confusion)

Weiss: -Are right here going over the map so we can get back to the city. What's wrong?

Ruby: (looking frantically between Yang and Blake) But! I! You two!

Yang: Ruby, slow down. What is going on?

Ruby: Just! Follow me! (petal bursts out the window)

WBY: (exchange looks and yeet themselves out the window)

Ruby: (stops in the town alley and throws her arms out) LOOK!!!

WBY: (finally catch up and their jaws drop)

Evil Yang: (smirking and leaning up on a stack of crates) Well, well, well, I gotta say. I sure do enjoy a dangerous woman who can kick my ass. Care to take a walk on the wild side?

Negative Blake: (sitting up on the crates, scoffs and glances out of the corner of her eye at E!Y) Please, I've walked on the wild side my whole life. What could a spark from a match possibly show me?

Evil Yang: Oooooh (chuckles) I like it when you're feisty. How about a little collaboration? We could cause mayhem and chaos like never before. The world won't know what hit it.

Negative Blake: (leans in until their faces almost touch) Tempting. But remember, I've been betrayed before. Loyalty doesn't come easy.

Evil Yang: (whispering) Oh, I promise you, my loyalty will be to you and our shared desires. Besides, who else could keep up with us?

Negative Blake: (gold eyes scour possessed blue before smirking) Very well. But know this, if you ever cross me, you won't like the consequences.

Evil Yang: (closing the distance between them, their lips almost touching) Don't worry. I'm not one to back down from a challenge. (holds out a hand)

Negative Blake: Not too bad, for a human. (takes the offered hand and hops off the crates before walking off with Evil Yang to cause chaos)

RWBY: (shell shocked)

Weiss: (to Blake and Yang) How come they were able to flirt easier than you two?!

Ruby: They're about to go create chaos and that's what you're worried about?!
