I’m thinking about a jegulily fic (cause I’m a touch obsessed) where James is blind and will purposely forget to bring his cane out with him on days where he’s going out with Regulus and/or Lily so he has an excuse to hold their hands for the entire day.

some of my personal marauders headcanons about ethnicities, sexualities, genders, disabilities & neurodivergencies !!

Sirius is autistic, has ADHD, C-PTSD, BPD and POTS, is half French half Vietnamese genderfluid mlm and demiromantic + demisexual

Regulus is gay trans man, is autistic, has OCD and C-PTSD, is Deaf, obviously French Vietnamese same as Sirius

Lily is bi and demisexual, Scottish, is autistic and has anxiety and depression

Marlene is NB lesbian, German and has ADHD tourettes and dyslexia

Dorcas is trans fem, aro lesbian, Dominican and has anxiety and dysgraphia

Mary is trans woman, pan, Jamaican and is auDHD

James is demiboy, pan, Indian and is autistic with ADHD and dyspraxia

Peter is bi, trans man, Scottish and is autistic with anxiety OCD and tics

Some Disabled Remus Drabble

honestly this is me adding my two cents in on disabled remus writing as someone who uses a mobility aid and needed a good rant tbh. but this is almost from my perspective so imma be protective over this like a mother.

Remus was apprehensive at first, well of course, he would willing be drawing attention to himself, but as the days draw longer and more painful, and after Sirius constant nagging, he caves and finally uses his cane more often.

It honestly feels ridiculous at first, like he is faking a problem, showing off almost, cause he can walk on his own most days, “Why the fuck do I need this shitty thing anyway”, he would constantly mutter. In reality, the cane wasn’t shitty, or displeasing to the eye at all, it was almost ornate, intricate wooden carvings etched into a lovely oak stick, handle carved into a shape to relieve pressure off of us ever aching wrists. The only thing he could complain about was the attention.

Some people’s curiosity was out of kindness, as the cane was proof of Remus’s incapability, but it would get annoying to be asked “How he was?” or “What happened?”, about 8 times at breakfast whilst he was trying to eat some toast. It was a show of his fragility, how he wasn’t fully working, almost not human, something people needed to dodge, treat with caution. Remus couldn’t just tell them all to fuck off, as Sirius eloquently suggested, as it felt rude, even though their “concern”, was a mask for a fiendish need for more gossip.

The stares were worse though, as people only saw older people with canes, not a lanky 17 year old, known for causing pranks and having above average spell work, it didn’t make sense. It was like they were too stunned to speak, to curious to look away, and too polite to laugh, the stares almost made him give up entirely on the idea, that he could power through the agony to just be normal again, not like Sirius wouldn’t catch him if fell anyway.

Sirius would be almost angry at this idea, didn’t see the point in him hurting himself to please others eyes, “I’ll fucking punch anyone who says anything.”, he would promise, and Remus knew he intended to keep that promise, and that motivated him slightly, his boyfriend, and his mates, would always protect him front the rumour, however outlandish, except the occasion, “I heard he was scratched by a werewolf in the Forbidden Forest.” mutters, as it never failed to make them laugh at the accuracy and the idiocracy of the gossip. The safety of the laugh with his friends made him almost feel normal, and not a freak of natural, or a fragile package.

And all Remus really wanted was to feel normal and not in pain.

remus lupin with a cane hcs

whenever anybody asks why remus uses a cane, pete, james, and sirius come up with the most insane answers possible

peter learned how to do wordless hexes when the slytherins would bother remus about it (they'd always try to get the two of them in trouble but there was never any proof)

james would offer remus piggy back rides when he was having a particularly bad day and somehow would always end up giving sirius one

remus struggled to find a cane that wasn't too short for him because he's so tall

sirius was always the first to reassure remus that he was in fact still cool (and beautiful) despite his cane

lily basically acted as a second set of hands for remus when he had his cane, holding things that he would normally hold in his second hand

mcgonagall managed to put in a magic thing for remus to get up and down the stairs of gryffindor tower (like an elevator or something)

Both Sirius and Regulus were raised in the House Of Black, a notorious inbred house of villains. Neither of them were huge outcasts growing up, but the older members of the HOB kept a special eye on them as they grew older.

On the other side of it all, James Potter grew up surrounded by members of The Order, the biggest hero establishment around. Him and his best friend Peter have lived in the headquarters their whole lives, trying to prove themselves.

Remus and Lily are childhood best friends who are pretty anti superhero. They ruin the city. They run all over the place. And they think they’re better than everyone else.

Two times Remus Lupin needed a hug, and two times he got one (they're the same times)

Remus was exhausted. Of course he loves his job, but sometimes he just wanted to climb in bed with his husbands and watch Doctor Who. So when James walked up to him after hours of mind numbingly boring paperwork and held his face like the most precious thing in the world, he sunk into it instantly. Reaching one hand up to hold James' hand where it rested against his cheek, he let his face fall into a small smile as James gently kissed the top of his head, forehead, noce, cheeks, and lips before resting their heads together. As Remus stared into James' deep hazel eyes, he knew that the expression of pure love and adoration was mirrored in his own. A few minutes later, James managed to convince him to come to bed, and they were quickly tangled in eachother's limbs, re-watching Doctor Who for the fiftieth time that week.

Remus was having a bad day. To remedy this, he made his way to where Sirius was sat on the sofa reading a book. His crutches were silenced by the softness of their carpet as he carefully placed them on the ground where he knew they wouldnt get stepped on and sat accross Sirius, moving his arms to circle him as he did so. Sirius chuckled softly before bookmarking his page and setting the book aside. He wrapped his arms tightly around Remus for a minute before moving them to hold Remus' face in his hands and rub soothing circles into his soft skin. Remus made a soft happy noise when Sirius lightly peppered his face with kisses. He shifted Remus' head to rest on his chest, keeping one hand on his face, and moving the other to run his fingers through Remus' hair as he rocked them both back and forth in a soothing motion. Being held and rocked by Sirius, Remus soon found himself falling asleep as he gazed up at Sirius' beautiful silver eyes.

Give me physically disabled Sirius Black. Sirius Black with EDS, who uses joint supports and her rings are ring splints and they sometimes can't sleep at night because of pain and they wake up with dislocated joints and have to stop playing quidditch at 15 because his joints are just too bad by that point. Sirius Black with POTS who gets really scared when they have heart palpitations and never showers with the door locked and only ever when Remus is in the dorm just in case and they get dizzy when they stand up and sometimes she has to rely on her friends to catch him when they nearly fall. Sirius Black whose leg is paralysed after one of their mother's punishments in 5th year and they run away to James' and have to quit quidditch after that and use a walking stick. Sirius Black with gastroparesis who can only eat a minimal amount of food and is predominantly fed via feeding tube. Sirius Black with FND who has tics and seizures and occasional temporary paralysis and who teaches their friends how to care for her when he has a seizure or a tic attack. Sirius Black whose disability (s) make them feel closer to Remus, whose disability (s) help him to understand Remus better and vice versa, who make her a better boyfriend to Remus and vice versa. Sirius Black who, along with James Potter, hexes anyone who dares say anything ableist to or about them or their boyfriend. Sirius Black and Remus Lupin being Hogwarts' resident disabled power couple. Disabled Sirius Black.

Can all these gifted kids stop taking Remus as one of them, he is not for you.

Remus is for all of the disabled kids who couldn't figure out why they couldn't do everything everyone else could as a kid and felt physically isolated because of this.

Remus is for all of the people who are too embarrassed to use their walking aids and would rather suffer than be different.

Remus is for all of the people who want representation for themselves in media without their entire character arc being about their disability.

Remus isn't for the gifted kids, take Lily Evans, she is literally the definition of what you are trying to say.

I just met a guy who looked like a variant of James Potter in disability assistance in the airport (I’m disabled for context). And now I want a fic where James is in disability assistance and Regulus is a pilot (obviously they fall in love). Welcome! This fic is told from James' older POV. Think of it as him reflecting on this story years later and sharing it with someone else.

In theory, it would be helpful to read CMBYN before reading this, but it's unnecessary. Having watched the film could also count, but several details in this fic aren't included in the movie.

The Potters take the place of Elio and his parents, Regulus as Oliver. Lily is Marzia, who can see where James' heart is at. Marlene is Chiara, who takes a liking in Remus and hence makes James jealous. OCs Matilda, Allah, and Victoria are all based on characters in the original novel, but 2/3 are not vital to the story.
