✏️ what no one tells you about how to journal 📒
i was sick of all the "how to journal" content out there recycling the same advice that sounds great but doesn't always work in the reality of daily life. you're welcome 😏 (also low-key a shitpost, but there are nuggets of wisdom in here, i promise 😇)

✍️ what to journal about ✍️
sure, you could journal about self development and treat your diary like your therapist, OR you could write about:
the pettiest grudge you're still holding onto from elementary school 😤
all the gossip about other people's lives that you have Strong Opinions™️ about, but you're a good person, so what goes in the journal, stays in the journal 🤫
all the witty comebacks you never say to people's faces because you're a sensible, non-confrontational person, but also you didn't think of it until later 🙃
the possibilities are endless, let your imagination run wild, and/or feel free to contact the blogger for more 🤭
🚫 when NOT to journal 🚫
this is just as, if not more, important as when to journal.
nothing to say — forget morning pages, i can barely string together a coherent greeting before lunch. also, a whole night's sleep is like a total memory wipe, so i have nothing to write about 🤷‍♀️ and don't listen to whoever says to just write "i have nothing to write about" because if you start enough entries with that, you're gonna begin to feel there's no point BUT THERE IS!! just not right now. and that's okay ☺️
too often — personally, i think it's important not to make journaling your one source of clarity 🔮 continue to think things through in your mind, confide in people you trust, and have moments (in nature, perhaps) that simply can't be transcribed to words 🌼
not feeling it — if you're too tired OR feel fulfilled and clear-headed enough about your day, don't make journaling a chore you have to do no matter what. if that means you don't journal everyday, then so be it 🌝
so when do you journal? in general, when doing so would add something to your day ☀️ whether that's peace, humor, gratitude, or something else.
🎁 materials 🎁
now for the fun part: let's go to the stationery store! 🛒
✒️ GET A PEN THAT WRITES SMOOTHLY! you are literally lowering the physical resistance that's keeping you from journaling, trust me it works. also pencils suck.
🔐 get a journal with a band, lock, clasp, button, etc. — just because it's fun, but it has the added benefit of securing your intellectual property(?)
have a separate journal for writing thoughts vs. schedules vs. todos vs. collections (TBR lists, recipes, etc.) — beats having to make and maintain a whole index to keep it all organized in just one (1) notebook 😵‍💫
🌸 stickers — are a pretty substitute for correction pens 😻 (in theory, but i have yet to use all the washi tape i bought 😅)
or just journal digitally, idgaf, do what works for you, okay? 😇

❥﹒♡﹒☕﹒ 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲: easy tips to form healthy habits ( based on this alessya farrugia video )
if you don't have a solid night routine, you may as well throw away your whole morning routine, because the decisions you make at night are gonna to directly affect you in the morning and how you go about your day. if you binge watch netflix 'til 1am calling it your "rest time" only for you to wake up in the morning feeling tired and frustrated, it's time for you to build a night routine and stick to it.
pro tip do not try to improve everything all at once, you're gonna fail. just try to incorporate something small in your routine to start forming healthy habits. it might take months, but one year from now it will all be worthy.
𝟭. prepare for the next day ( 📒 )
write down your to-do list for the next day. when i don't plan out my day i just end up doing nothing, because i don't even know where to start. but if you know what you have to do you don't end up procrastinating and start getting things done. also, do not overload yourself with too much things to do, you're just not going to accomplish them all, so keep it realistic.
bonus put the most important tasks on the top of your list so you're gonna accomplish them as soon as possible.
𝟮. clean you room ( 🫧 )
it really depends on when you are the most active – for example i'm a night owl and i can't even imagine cleaning my room in the morning – but yes, removing all the mess you made during the day will help you leaving it all behind and starting fresh new the next day. put your clothes away, remove books, notebooks, make-up products, trash all around and i guarantee you that you're gonna feel so much better.
𝟯. take care of your body ( 🌷 )
take a warm shower that can help you relax, do your skincare, change in your comfy clothes, basically wash away the stress and negativity of the day. last semester i would literally stay at uni for 10h straight and coming back home at 8pm after the gym, i used to take a warm shower straight after that so i could let all the negativity of the outside world slide off me.
𝟰. drink hot tea ( 🍵 )
avoid theine but treat yourself to a hot drink that helps you relax and restore your calm, also take your vitamins and give yourself those ten minutes in your personal space.
𝟱. self love and affirmations ( 💖 )
reflect on your day, write down in your diary all the things that happened, pray, meditate, do your affirmations, leave everything in the past, do not let today's disappointments, stress and frustration affect your tomorrow. the only way in which you can truly move forward is by facing the things that happened today to leave them in the past, tomorrow is a new day.
𝟲. get off your phone ( 📱 )
definitely the hardest part for me. i don't even want to explain why it's so dangerous for you to stay awake scrolling through your phone at night – blue light and whatever – so just be strong and try to get off your phone at least 1h before going to bed, use eye-protection mode after sunset and use blue glasses if you can.
bonus use only red light at night, blue light are gonna inhibit your melatonin production ( which is what makes you sleep at night ).
𝟳. go to bed on time ( 🛏️ )
do not delay your bed time in order to get more dopamine scrolling through social media or binge watching netflix. do not sacrifice your sleep in order to do more work/study ( i did it in the past and it's definitely not worthy ), prioritizing your sleep is going to reward you in the long run. trust and believe.
𝟴. 321 rule for better sleep ( 💤 )
3 hours before bed –> stop eating. it gives you enough time to digest your food so you're not going to waste energy during your sleep to digest and you're gonna wake up less tired.
2 hours before bed –> stop studying/working. you need to drag your brain out of your "fight or flight" mode in order to get deep rest at night.
1 hour before bed –> stop screen time. allow your body to produce the melatonin that it needs in order to fall asleep properly.

Dear Diary,
How’s it been going? Me? Yeah I’m doing alright. Legs a little stiff from today’s workout but that just means I’m improving bit by bit. I actually went over to Whimsain recently on an excursion with dad. It’s all just so high end there. Just gross. But I did see something that caught my eye.
So, I may have to admit something to you. Today I saw the most beautiful Pokémon I’d ever seen in my entire life. I mean, she looked gorgeous when she was demonstrating her moves during her public training session. The way she moved in battle had a certain grace to it. She did this cool thing with the blades she uses. And her speed? Just wow. I was in absolute awe at her battle prowess.
I think I may have developed feelings for her. I mean, I don’t know for certain but when I saw her I felt all funny inside. Like I’d been kicked in the stomach in a good way. Maybe. Argh, I dunno! It’s difficult to describe! She makes me feel things I’ve never felt before. I think the worst part is I actually feel nervous about trying to approach her.
I know, the great and mighty Hope of Terrestria getting nervous? I’m sure I’ll be able to stamp that out soon. But still. I just. How do I approach a girl that I like? I can’t even ask anyone about this! They’ll all laugh because I have a stupid crush on someone.
Why did I write any of this down? This is between you and me, diary. Nobody can know.
Hope.
(So, Hope is quite embarrassed that she has some feelings for someone she’s never spoken to before. She definitely burnt this after writing it so nobody could find out.

…I keep a journal of every memory I manage to recall from before the metro. There’s not a lot, and they’re really unclear, but it’s something at least?
[Entry 1: I saw an inkling when I was out on a walk today. They looked familiar? I’m not sure how to describe it. Anyways, when I got home I was laying down and I started to remember something. The doctors said my odds of recovering anything were essentially zero, but I guess not?
I remembered looking a mirror and having long tentacles? And then it gets fuzzy, but I remember running. Not sure from what, but my tentacles were freshly cut, they weren’t long like before. I remember being chased, and I hid in an abandoned subway station, and then it cuts out.
I wish I could remember more. Maybe I could see that inkling again? I’m not sure though, I got an off feeling from her, like a part of me was saying to avoid her. It’s weird..]
I still wish I knew more than this. I only have one other entry, but it’s pretty mundane.
