“harry, shows starting soon, you really gotta get your suit on man.” mitch sighed, rolling his eyes at his friend, who has his almost one year old daughter in a makeshift swaddle (although she’s getting to old for it). harry was supposed to be getting ready ten minutes ago— but of course once amani awoke from her nap he couldn’t help but coo at her puffy face, and show no hesitation to cuddle her when she cried for him.

long forgotten was the pink suit he was supposed to be wearing.

“can’t, she wants to cuddle with her dada, right mani?” harry said, kissing his daughters cheeks, and earning a little nod from her, though harry knows she doesn’t understand what he said. he also knows jeff will have his head once he finds out he still hasn’t gotten ready, but he can’t make himself care no matter how hard he tries. post-nap time is one of his most favorite things, his daughter wakes up clingy and cuddly and harry loves it. he gives her all the cuddles she could want, and anyone who tries to tear them apart during this time is most likely to fail.

mitch knows this, so he accepts his defeat and finds a nearby concession stand to occupy himself.

once harry and his daughter are alone again, he smiles at her, sitting her up in his lap. “mani?” he says, getting her attention. the little one looks up at him and smiles around her dummy. “i love you,” he coos, tickling her tummy. amani copies him, attempting to say it back but it comes out as incoherent blubbering.

“oh my— baby, did you just tell me you love me? you love dada?” harry gasps, searching for his phone if she says it again. he’s sure he would look crazy to anyone else, but his baby finds it endearing.

it’s only until sarah enters the room and forcefully pulls amani away from him and lets jeff coerce him into his suit that he finally gets ready.

"This is a very very special show," Harry said as he stood by his mic stand, "It's not only the last show here at LA, but it is also my daughter's first concert ever," at this, the crowd roared in screams and cheers, "She's right over there with her mum," he pointed at the VIP box of the arena, just to realize that no one was there, "Wait, she's not there, did she get bored of the show already?"

As the crowd laughed at his joke, he scanned the crowd again looking for his wife and daughter, only to spot them at the front of the barricade, his little girl waving at him frantically.

"There she is!" he cheerfully said, a huge smile appearing on his face, "Hi baby, I see you. Are you enjoying the show?" he got closer to them, bending down to press a small kiss on the girl's head, "Oh no! You can't take that, daddy needs that to sing," he said when he realized that the baby was grabbing his mic, trying to take it from him, "I guess she loves the stage already."

The crowd went absolutely crazy over the interaction, recording it and taking pictures that would make the internet go crazy too.

Over a year and a half ago me and Harry welcomed our little boy into the world. So far it's been incredible and I've enjoyed every minute of being his mum, even through the tough parts his little smile would make the hardships completely disappear in an instant. Harry is also an amazing dad, it's like he was born for the role. A few months ago Harry surprised me with a week long trip to Dubai, and what is our first holiday as a family of three. I was extremely excited and almost immediately called Faith to get advice on what I should pack for Ollie, which is what we ended up naming him.

We arrived two days ago and are already having the best time. Yesterday we spent all day at the beach then went for a nice dinner, in which Ollie slept in his buggy the entire time. Today we're going to the Dubai aquarium, getting some lunch and going shopping. I woke up to the sound of giggling, I pried myself from Harry's grasp and reached forward to grab the smiling baby from his travel cot. I placed him between me and Harry in the bed then drifted back off to sleep. I woke up an hour later, reached over to the nightstand and grabbed my phone to see a message from Harry saying he'd gone out to grab some breakfast from downstairs. I got up and took a picture of Ollie surrounded by the white fluffy bed sheets.

I quickly got dressed while Ollie slept and Harry soon came back with breakfast. When we were all ready we left the hotel to head to the aquarium. We rented a car the first day we arrived, since Ollie has to sit in a car seat plus we'll be spending much less on Ubers. I drove (since Harry despises driving) and we were soon parked outside.

Harry pulled the exited toddler from his seat, and we headed inside. Ollie seemed to be absolutely mesmerised by the sea creatures (especially the 'big scary sharks'). When we'd walked around the entire aquarium we left to go get some lunch since we were all hungry and Ollie was getting quite restless and in desperate need of a nap. We went back to the car to grab the buggy from the boot then walked to one of the nearby restaurants.

We sat down to eat our lunch as Ollie soundly slept. As me and Harry finished up our food Ollie woke up, now full of energy and hungry. We'd ordered him some plain chips so he ate them along with some fresh fruit. Which they seem to have lots of here, probably because of the hot weather.

Then we paid and made our way to Dubai mall, which thankfully has air conditioning. I happily looked through some shops while Harry followed me with the buggy. "Almost done?" Harry asked, very clearly bored. I turned around and shook my head jokingly "almost." I said with a smile. "M- mummy?" Ollie babbled. "Yes baby?" I replied squatting down in front of him. "I wanna go- the pool." He smiled. Harry chuckled and I glanced up at him "ok, let's go." I said and a look of pure excitement spread across his face.

When we arrived back at the hotel we got straight into our swimming costumes and headed down to the pool. We found some deck chairs and put our things down, then (after smothering Ollie in suncream) all three of us got into the pool.

play groups aren’t for daddies

summary - in which harry worries, is kinda a helicopter parent, and amani is starting her playgroup.

(a/n not proof read so I apologize in advance for any mistakes + this was written months ago but I’ve only just decided to post it on tumblr!)

as much as harry denied it, he could sometimes be placed into the category, "helicopter parenting." and no, it's not that he meant to be overzealous and protective but when it came to amani styles, his four year old– who harry's love ran unconditional and eternal for, he couldn't help it if he tried.

parents often found him over the top when this certain profound trait of his was displayed; whether that be tagging along on her playdates, or staying over at a sleepover, wisping her away from the kids and into his own comfort. he didn't trust anyone with her, even if he knew the parents and children on a personal level. he knew it was excessive, but if it was another worry not on his list then you could catch him playing dress up with kids decades younger than him.

he continued this habit, whether he realized it or not and it didn't seem to bother either amani or him until he found out from her therapist otherwise. she stated giving amani a play group, or daycare could help strengthen her social skills that sometimes were hindered due to being coddled by harry. (and okay, he took offense to that.)

yes she saw people, mainly his family, friends, and tour crew but when he listed it off in defense to the therapist only then did he notice, with blush becoming visible on the apples of his cheeks that he was definitely stunting her social growth by not letting her interact with kids in her own age group. (not that he did it on purpose, he just got used to having her around “his” people that he forgot she needed her own.)

so after a lot of research on the most safestest playgroups in his city he finally agreed to letting his daughter step away from the nest. yes 'nest', the therapist visibly cringed when he said it out loud. you can call him dramatic. he doesn't care.

harry stalled around the cubbies, checking over everything in his daughters book bag, obviously to waste time since he knew very well that everything she could ever need was in their. amani was getting restless as she watched the other kids play around with all the toys and games– but not her, cause apparently her dad had to make sure her blanket and extra set of clothes were packed numerous amount of times. his behavior was quickly noticed by the daycare teacher who was watching him. "everything okay?" the daycare teacher, ms.charlotte, as harry came to learn, asked them.

"everything's fine, m'just checking over her stuff." he said, realizing how much of an idiot he appeared to be.

"she could go play while I check over everything with you." she suggested, looking to amani first for approval, which harry sensed was good. it meant the teacher valued his child's comfort which was very important to him. the girl perked up, looking at her dad with hopeful eyes that he couldn't say no to. harry sighed, but nodded, only smiling when she squealed with excitement and ran off to the dress up box that caught her eye earlier.

once harry forcefully tore his eyes away from his daughter he put his attention back on the teacher.

"uhm could you just– tell me what she would need?" he asked, opening her overly expensive gucci bag, which had teachers eyes widening. "oh um of course. she would only need an extra pair of clothes, and a blanket for nap time. everything else is provided." she said, causing harry to look sheepishly at all the other unnecessary items he packed. "okay. what're the kids gonna be doing today?" he asked.

"–sorry if these are odd questions she's just never been away from me and.." he rambled, but ms.charlotte smiled and put a comforting hand on his shoulder, reassuring him. "I know the feeling. i cried the first day my son went to kindergarten, ––i could barely walk away from the door at drop off," she laughed, causing him to join in "it was a mess and i was so scared about how kids would treat him and if he'd be okay. but after awhile I realized as parents we can't always watch them, and that at some point they have to grow up and do things on their own. amani will be fine, I swear. she may miss you, and vise versa but she'll have loads of new friends and you'll have time to do things you need to do." she carefully put amani's book bag in a cubbie, then looked back at harry who seemed more relax.

"they're gonna have free time for awhile, then do crafts and have lunch time, read a book, have naptime then you can pick her up at six, but we officially close up at eight." she said. harry was nodding, making mental notes although he already had alarms and reminders set on his phone.

now it seemed nothing was keeping harry there. he knew the schedule, knew what she'd be doing, and knew she'd be in good hands but that wouldn't be enough to diminish the anxiety he felt for her being alone without his guidance.

but then, as he saw amani playing dress up with a girl, laughing at her new friend spinning around in an blue elsa dress he felt as if she'd be okay– like he had a father instinct inside of him that was telling him everything would be okay.

ms.charlotte had already walked away, getting materials out and preparing for the crafts they'd soon be doing. he knew he should walk away now, and that is was kinda creepy to just watch the children play but he wanted to say a proper goodbye. (as cheesy as it was)

he walked over, not disturbing the other children but close enough so that amani could see him. "bug?" he said, making amani lift her head to meet his gaze. she whispered something to her friend before picking herself off the floor, running over to harry. (which made one of the teachers advise her to instead walk, making harry giggle to himself.)

"yes? why're you still here daddy?" she asked, confused as to why her dad wasn't home by now. harry shrugged, "im going now, but ill miss you sooo much ‘kay?" he said, kissing her cheeks while exaggerating the noise, making her giggle. the staff were trying to hide it, but they were watching the whole adorable exchange. "ill miss you too, now go, playgroups aren't for daddy's!" she said, making him, and everyone watching laugh.

and for the first time, harry wasn't a helicopter parent.

yourinstagram Hello, you little people in my phone! As most of you know (because of Daily Mail) two days ago, my husband, our child, and I were asked to leave the restaurant we ate at, because of causing disturbance to other customers. The said disturbance was me breastfeeding our child. Before our waiter and then the manager talked with us, my husband took a picture (above) (he really takes pictures of everything) showing what was visible while breastfeeding (A BREAST !!). There really was no conversation between two parties. When asked if covering myself with a cloth would be more comfortable, I was just once again asked to leave the restaurant. No person should be forbidden to feed their children in public. I shouldn't have asked if covering myself would be more comfortable with others. No. We shouldn't accept this kind of non written 'rules'. With everything said, I wasn't going to let our child starve and went to feed her in a car, so no stranger eyes could see a breast. “Daddy?”

A soft voice calling for him made its way to Harry’s ears, a voice that belonged to his three year old son, who was curiously peeking his head inside his home studio.

Ever since his little boy was born, Harry made the decision to switch everything up regarding his career, taking longer breaks between albums and tours and building a full equipped music studio in his home. He just didn’t want to be away from his wife and son, specially during his first years of life.

“Hey buddy, what are you doing over there?” Harry said as he moved his hands away from the piano tiles and looked over at the little boy who was just a replica of him: same green eyes, dimples and brown curls. It blew anyone’s mind when they saw how alike they looked.

He had been working on the same melody all day, he was in the process of writing his 5th studio album, the first one as a father, and he wanted everything to be perfect. The album was all about fatherhood, falling in love with his wife all over again and overall this new chapter of his life, he was happier than ever and that’s what the songs he had been writing told.

“Come here, baby,” Harry opened his arms, motioning the little boy to join him “I’ve missed you, would you like a cuddle?” his son curiously dragged his small feet across the room, Harry had noticed how much he liked his studio, and how fond of music his son was, always asking his mummy to play his favorite songs around the house and his daddy to sing for him. It warmed Harry’s heart every single time.

“Cuddle daddy.” the little boy mumbled as he climbed on the piano’s bench -with Harry’s help, of course- and placed himself on his lap. If there was something that Harry wouldn’t change for anything was cuddling his son, so when his baby adjusted himself on his lap and buried his face on his ribs, putting his little arms around his broad frame, he could feel his heart growing twice is size.

Harry kissed the little mop of curls and lingered his lips on the crown of his baby’s head, sometimes he couldn’t quite understand how he got so lucky to have the perfect little family. He found his soulmate when he was 22 and knew he wanted to marry her, he put a ring on her finger at 29 and now, at 31, he had a little bundle of joy that was a mixture of him and the love of his life.

Life couldn’t get any better.

So with a full heart and a sudden burst of inspiration, he went back to playing melodies on the piano, careful not to disturb the little boy in his arms.

“Music?” the boy beamed as he moved his little face from its position on his dad’s ribs, and Harry couldn’t help but smile at his enthusiasm over hearing him play “That’s right bubba, daddy’s playing music, you like when daddy does that, don’t you?” Harry cooed, he was man enough to admit that his little boy made him melt with every single thing he did.

“Play daddy” his son said as he sat up straight on his lap, his gaze fixed on the piano in front of him, and since his wish is Harry's command, he continued playing soft melodies for him.

Harry wanted to take that moment in and save it forever, he was unaware at that moment, but his wife was standing at the door frame, capturing the both of them in a picture that would be part of his album's booklet in the future.

"Still feeling small, huh?" Harry held his girl by her hips as he sat back the black leather, with her straddling him.

Y/n tucked her head into his neck letting his breath tickle his skin. "Ma' head is still feeling fuzzy, Daddy." She muttered.

Harry had to be on stage soon. He couldn’t leave her in such a vulnerable space, he had to get her back.

Harry hummed in her ear in response rubbing one of his large hands up and down her back.

A knock on the door startled both of them. Three knocks were like rocks of stone being thrown at the door to her. She whimpered at the sudden taps on the door. The loud noise making her hide in his neck.

"Harry!"

Harry didn’t respond to the person knocking, assuming they ran around.

He sighed, "Baby." He called gently. She gave him a sniffly hum back, "Yes, Daddy?"

"I have to go, you know I can’t leave you alone when you’re feeling like this?"

She pouted. "Where are you going?" Pulling out of his neck.

"I have to go out on stage remember? Daddy has to perform in front of thousands of people… and you’re always there watching me in a little corner. I need ye’ there so I can feel calm, ye know? I need ye’ to come back to me," His voice was so calm and polite. And he was telling the truth he needed her.

Harry peppered a kiss in her neck, breathing in her sent as her breathed hitched, reality hitting her and shoulders becoming more tense.

"Is my angel back to me?"
