Now when I ask this, I’m not complaining but can someone explain the process of “tumblrsexyman” -ing a character? Like, with fanmade Wally’s from Welcome Home? It’s cool, it’s just I’ve never seen this “process” occur with my own eyes. Like why does it happen? How does it happen? I want to analyze this phenomenon 😆.

Again, I don’t care how far from the original character it gets. I just want to know how a bunch of people managed to interpret a character a certain way with certain traits. Traits like, fancy outfits, charismatic personality, flirtatious/romantic, and well I guess you could say “tall dark and handsome?” It usually happens to characters who aren’t human. Like I mentioned above with Wally from Welcome Home. But we also got Bill Cipher, FNAF animatronics, GladOS and Wheatley from Portal, some non-human creepypasta characters (eyeless jack is one that comes to mind) , and these are just a few examples. It’s just interesting to see the non-human characters interpreted as conventionally attractive (?) humans. Like why does it happen? Lol.

MY CREEPYPASTA AU

(This is a more in depth version compared to the one on my Tik Tok, but it still doesn't contain full details because I’d rather you guys ask me questions on it,I find it easier to discuss!)

Maine

In my AU all of the Creepypastas and Proxies (this includes Hoodie and Masky from Marble Hornets) reside in Maine.

Maine has a deep history and the best folklore ever so I felt like it fit with what I was going for when I made this up.

The dark forests and gloomy,chilly weather fit my vision.The numerous small towns are also perfect because who doesn’t love a good small town horror story ;)

The Forests

Maine has GINORMOUS forests (90% of its covered in them) and they look pretty spooky.

In my AU the forests are not exactly normal.They’re home to lots of the creeps and Supernatural beings.

There’s a high amount of energy inside these forests,this causes the supernatural beings to form and evolve.(I will talk about them more further down this post)

Nobody knows exactly why the forests are such a hotspot for supernatural energy and magic,some think it’s down to the insane amount cult like seances and dark witchcraft inside the forests.

Nobody knows exactly what any of the cults are trying to achieve but there’s an unsettling feeling no matter how often you see them standing in circles around a fire.

The demons that reside here are thought to have been summoned by these activities.

You often find the witches bludgeoned and limbless after trying to make offerings to the creatures inside of the forest.

Small stick figures and voodoo dolls are usually found just before you enter the deep parts of these forests,the proxies think it’s the witches using them like a trail of breadcrumbs so they can return to preform more seances and offerings.

Some creeps move them around so they end up in the darkest parts of the woods,nobody’s ever returned from there.

There’s an interconnecting system to all of these forests.Every single forest in Maine is connected to one another in some way.

Once you go deep enough(like extremely fuckin deep) you can find yourself confused about your surroundings.This is usually due to the fact that you’ve walked through a portal.

Now let me explain how the portals work.

The portals between the forests in Maine are naturally created, as they are simply the result of the supernatural energy that connects the forests together.

The portals themselves can take many forms, such as small patches of glowing mist in between two trees or they could be completely invisible to the naked eye.

They can appear and disappear seemingly at random.

However,some portals stick around,the creeps use these to get around.

Proxies mark the trees between a portal with this symbol “⦻”.

They are always accessible to all creatures, no matter the time or place.

Because of the large amount of forests in Maine there’s an endless amount of summer camps inside of them.

During the camps off months some of the creeps (literally such a small number) use the summer camp cabins as their hiding or living places because they are isolated and remote.

When the camps start back up during the summer,abandoned buildings and ghost towns end up becoming occupied by some of the creeps who prefer to stay sheltered.

They survive off of the abandoned food and supplies left behind in the summer camp cabins.

They also scavenge for supplies and food in nearby towns and stores when the coast is clear and if they manage to come across money which is rare and is usually stolen.

Almost all of the time they make trips to the towns to steal supplies and groceries from shops and residences.

Disguises are a creeps best friend!

There are many different species of supernatural creatures that inhabit the deepest parts of the forests.

Some common examples of supernatural creatures that live in the forests include things like werewolves, vampires, ghosts, wendigos,demons,the rake (many of his kind) witches,skinwalkers literally anything you can think of.

The creeps all have a whole range of interactions with the supernatural creatures in the forest.

Some are afraid of them and be wary of them.

Others could have made some kind of pact or deal with them,they might use them to their advantage in some way or become friends.

Some even try to fight or kill them but that’s rare.

The creatures have a high possibility of being hostile,so it’s best to be wary and not trust the ones who are unnamed.

The proxies,as well as carrying out tasks for slender.Patrol the forests.

They ensure creatures stay inside their areas.

They put a stop to any risks of their “hide out” being discovered.

They try to also prevent people from stumbling upon the deep parts by killing them before they reach them but that doesn’t always work.

People that stray from hiking trails and end up in these parts of the forests slowly go insane.

The spirits and demons like manipulating people that end up here.

The proxies don’t do anything about this since they find it entertaining

tThey much rather watch someone completely break than have someone beg for their life.

They enjoy coming across a person that’s become completely insane from terror, the slender sickness and the confusing portal system they don’t know about(they could enter a portal without realising and be in a different forest even further away from an exit).

The proxies call them “Zombies”.

The “Zombies” last a week tops(lack of food,water,the creatures) and you can usually see them wandering aimlessly or even just standing in random fields staring off at nothing.

The mansion isn’t a home to any of the creeps I don’t see it working out tbh.

It’s more of a prominent feature that appears from time to time.

It travels through different forests every day so it’s never in one place at all,it’s not hard to find if you know your way around.

Normally, it sticks the the centres of the forests,if you can figure out which one it is,then boom you’ve got it.

No creeps or proxies really go near it unless they’re absolutely in dire need of shelter.

Inside is disgusting.There’s rubbish and dirt on everything,the floors and ceilings are all broken up.Mould is ever where too.

It’s mostly Spirits that occupy this mansion.

Usually it’s children spirits as they don’t really like the forests.

Sally Williams resides here but still likes to float around the forest from time to time.

I was initially going to call this an unhinged idea, but honestly I think this is the most hinged idea i've had in a while!

Linked Universe/Links Meet AU where the creepypasta Ben Drowned gets thrown in. This is purely for shits and giggles because, look let me explain.

Linked Universe keeps to a pretty linear set of requirements right? The heroes appear at the age they were ending their journeys - with the exception of time but that's you know due to needing his design to fit the whole 'this is a man whos age is incomprehensible' aspect of his character- so some of them are younger. With the common consensus being that Wind is post Wind Waker but perhaps not post spirit tracks and phantom hourglass (+hyrule warriors) for example.

So it's not like Ben Drowned would appear too young - in the og creepy pasta he's like what 14? And listen, most links meet/Linked Universe fan canon revolves around them knowing they come from one timeline that diverged and that there is at *least* one failed timeline and that Time failed as a child in one of them!

So what I'm presenting is this;

Ben Drowned somehow gets pulled into the whole LU stuff looking as he does; but like he's cautious since he's not anywhere he recognises and weird portal shit is not uncommon given his wheelhouse but usually he recognises them you know?

The other links turn up and woah, new Link? They call out the name and Ben Drowned knows that isn't his name but you know he does *look* like Link so he reacts to the name and the Chain come face to face with this horrific visage of what is obviously a dead child - and Time comes face to face with well his own face. And Warriors gets the wind punched out of him because that's *Sprite* that's his little brother and he looks so lost, not really scared but so horrifically confused and even the master sword doesn't know what to make of him.

Fi says he's dead, he's not one of her heroes, he's not a hero of courage.

And the Chain assume it's because he's a failed hero of courage.

I don't have much else of an idea, i just thought the idea of horror story ben drowned just doing creepypasta shit and the Chain being like 'damn we've got the cursed spirit of one of our team mates from a timeline where he literally died as a kid. Shit's wild.'

My version of the slender forest/ creepypasta universe

Everything in this is fiction, the names and characters said in this universe aren't mine unless said otherwise and nothing is canon. Everything is just my interpretation and purely for entertainment purposes. Please also forgive any spelling or grammer errors this is all just a summary of my au and not a full written story yet.

In this Au non of the creepypasta characters live in a fancy mansion or anything like that, but most do reside along in similar woods.

In my interpretation of the woods everything takes place in the Appalachian mountains (Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, and all of West Virginia.)

The logic behind this is because of all the paranormal sightings, cult activity, and murders that have happened over the years along these trails and states, and its unrealistic to think that all these creatures and murders would resided in such close proximity of each other, but i do still think they would interact or at least know each other due to the portals and pathways around these woods.

Much like the similar (and real, yet its speculated if actually haunted) goatman's bridge in Texas, these woods have many portals along the trees which can be used to access different parts of the forest. These portals are often hard to find but have markers that help the creatures and criminals living in the area help navigate the mountains and forests with ease.

Along many of the trees there are the slender pages that help indicate to residents where these portals are and also try and help scare hikers or any other passersby away from the portals or the deep sections of the woods.

The proxies in this Au have the job of patrolling the woods, killing and getting rid of anyone unwelcomed, and keeping slendermans pages up near the portals. There are around 11 proxies but there are around 3 different types of proxies. (hollowed, agents and revenants)

The Hollowed are proxies who have almost no conscience and act rather animalistic, attacking anything in sight and act more like zombies than humans. They seem more skinny and tend to look like they are decaying and slowly dying. They often roam the woods looking for victims, and don't seem to care much about anything other than eating. The hollowed can be seen near caves or just around roaming the woods, attacking hikers and feeding on the bodies to stay alive, though most hollowed don't live long. They are the proxies who couldn't handle the mind control and went too insane to keep any of their original personalities, now just being used as an extra layer of protection to keep normal humans away from the portals.

Agents are a lot more human than the hollowed in the sense that they have feelings, interests, and a sense of their past, though most of their passions revolve around being a proxy. These are loyal followers who aren't fully in the head to understand what they are doing is wrong. Agents are loyal dogs who often act animalistic and don't question why, they do as they are told and when they are told to do so. Agents do a lot of stalking and cleaning up, they help keep the forest somewhat clean and decent around the borders so as to not alert authorities. They mostly hide bodies and are the ones who make the signs for the portals and put them up in areas that are needed. These proxies are quick and look mostly human but aren't typically seen during the day.

Revenants are the scariest of the proxies, these are the ones who are harder to kill, are faster than most humans and seem to have faster regeneration nor do they seem to age. These proxies do have feelings, passions, interests, and goals but have a clouded memory and are typically ruthless with their kills. They do what they need to do and they get the job done quickly and oftentimes messily. These proxies are often in charge of everything though are mostly on patrol duty, walking around the forests looking for hikers or anyone who doesn't belong, or making sure none of the portals close or are disturbed. If faced with one of these proxies there is a very low chance you will make it out alive.

I'm gonna ramble about my creepypasta AU from like 2012-2014ish I used to rp with a friend over my flip phone bc we where GENUINELY just insane <3

Some key things to keep in mind: we didn't really watch marble hornets at this time so masky and hoodie where (unfortunately) very much old fanon the rare few times they showed up. A lot of this AU was influenced by old deviantart web comics, mainly Pasta Monsters and The Seer. And lastly, we where like 12 when we made this so don't expect high art 💀 you're allowed to laugh bc genuinely it's so awful

This AU MOSTLY was centered around our OCs (of course). Mine was Banana, a repurposed warriors OC 💖 of course in usual middle schooler fashion, she was immortal and couldn't die, and she knew every single creepypasta amd everyone knew her and she was some special proxy y'all know the deal, if I remember to draw her again I'll rb or something with her bc I still love her dearly <3

Some key things abt this AU that I can remember off the top of my head in no specific order:

- Slenderman didn't have a mansion, he instead had an entire castle?? I have no clue why we decided a castle but that's what he had

-no one but slenderman lived in this castle. Not even his proxies, everyone else has their own houses, except Banana who has a big tree that grows diamond fruit

-how do people not fond a massive castle out in the forest? Easy. It's not in the forest, there's an entirely seperate realm they all live in and you access it by a random portal in the woods

-we genuinely deligated Masky and Hoodie to just sorta babysitting this portal. Actual proxy work? Never heard of it, they just watch a portal for days on end. Expect Masky sometimes, he got to babysit Banana because she caused ✨️problems✨️ constantly. We very much characterized his as the shy uwu nervous Masky the entire time

-proxies got their special proxy names Via warriors cats naming ceremony, we had a moment with another OC that was an extended rp of this moment. I do not know how we talked abt it like it was the most serious and genius thing in class the next day

-Jeff was one of the most prominent characters, he did not like Banana what so ever and she at some point made it her life goal to be the most prominent nuisance in his life. Multiple times as some form of punishment for both of them causing some issue or just fighting in general, Slenderman would make them go live together in the human world as normal people in suburbia or some shit. This happened VERY often and I choose to still use this plot point as the set up for conversations and jokes about them to this day

-the neighborhood they lived in was completely oblivious to the fact that these where two known serial killers, EXCEPT one of their neighbors who was hell bent on exposing them. No one believed her ever.

-how do they live as normal people? Tbis is where the pasta monsters influence comes in, I believe it was called an illusion form in that comic? Whatever it was called, that's the logic we used. Jeff looked like a Normal Guy and Banana instead of being a cat, was in fact a human girl, who for whatever reason we decided kept getting mistaken for some random orphan girl named Daisy

-despite this AU taking place in (at the time) modern times, old times orphanages and asylums where still in operation and was another very prominent plot point we used (to the extent of the knowledge we had as 12 year Olds of these places) banana and Jeff ended up in the asylum in padded rooms and straight jackets a lot

-this has no bearing on the plot what so ever but I know we referred to the police as "the popo" and ONLY the popo for the entire duration of the rp. All 2 or 3 years of it.

That's all I can think of at the moment, there's. A lot more that I'm missing here and whenever it crops up I'll just rb with more details or smthn bc I genuinely rlly like just putting whatever the hell we where on into words 💀💀

Samurai Bob and the Nightmare Realm

For context, if I'd actually written out SMG4k's arc, or at least listed all the major alternate universes involved, one of them would have been a Samurai Jack parody with a version of Bob in the starring role, Worm in place of Aku, and the local version of Meggy as a bounty hunter called "Agent 3" who was initially working for Worm to take out Bob, was convinced to help the heroes with the SMG4k situation by her main AU and Avatar (because Avatar Meggy World would've also been A Thing) counterparts, then after the crisis was solved decided to permanently change her ways and travel with Bob for a while.

In this follow-up episode, the two of them are continuing their journey to find a way to destroy Worm and get Bob back to his own time, when they find a village that's seemingly under attack by demons. They decide to help and seek out the source of the monsters, which turns out to be a portal to another universe. Said universe is a version of the SMG Mushroom Kingdom where Luke and Kevin wanted to specifically do horror-comedy bloopers, so most of the Memes in the SMG Mod were Creepypasta-related. The inhabitants, while definitely terrifying and operating on Adams Family Morality Rules, aren't actually evil (apart from characters like Eggman and Wheeler who were already evil normally) and aren't the ones attacking the village. Mostly.

As it turns out, the actual culprits are the local version of Lord Ramagog and his minions, unchanged apart from Ramagog apparently deciding to conquer his game rather than abandon it, who are attempting to conquer the Digital Multiverse starting with Super Mario 64. The portal to the Samurai Bob universe that Ramagog's demons and MK residents keep falling through is just a coincidental holdover from the SMG4k crisis.

As you'd expect, Bob and Meggy decide to team up with the Creepy Crew to take down Ramagog, then close the portal to solve the village's initial demon attack problem and prevent anyone from getting stranded in the wrong universe.

This is a list of some of my AU with some i forget to make content for. It's just shity summarys of it.

The Dead End: creepypasta/SCP/FNAF AU.

Foregoten God(name subject to change for a better one): Soul Eater/Mairimashita Iruma-kun/Monsterverse AU with some character from Sonic, Eddsworld, FNAF, Teletubbies, and probably Fire Force.

Cosmique Game (not official name yet): Homestuck/Fortuna AU.

Ghost Fun(not official name yet): Yokai-watch/lapin crétins invasion/Grizzy & the lemmings AU.

Pokémon Lost Story(not official name yet): a simple Pokémon AU with 3 regions base arond religion, time, and space, and an island who will be the central point of the story.

Amusing Zoo(not official name yet): an AU base arond Cartoon mostly creepypasta version as well as Cartoon Cat, Bendy and the ink machine(the first game only), Poppy Playtime, Hello Puppet and a zoo (the center of the story). I'm thinking of adding Garden of Banban and Welcome Home too.

Slendytubbies the secret(not official name yet): slendytubbies AU centred arond my OC.

The Dead See All(name subject to change for a better one): Lego AU that include many Lego universe. Ship JestroXClay. MK X Red Son.

Deltadrone: Murder Drone/Deltarune AU it's just the Deltarune story but with the cast as drone.

FireForcetale: Undertale/FireForce AU it's just the Undertale story but in the FireForce universe.

Sonic boom.exe(name subject to change for a better one): what the name sujest but since the story feel less like a .exe and more of an adventure/everyday life with horror and mystery éléments, i need to change is name. Ship SonicXShadow, SilverXBlaze.

Espace Nova(name subject to change for a better one): Keroro AU mostly focuse on Kururu and Giroro as well as some OCs. Ship KururuXGiroro.

One world two side(not official name yet): AU about one world split in two, one side have How to train your dragon/mon chevalier et moi/Myghty magisword and the other side have SouthPark/Wander over yonder, they have some OK KO Let's be hero éléments and character.

Old and new World(not official name yet): sumary, AU base around SM64 skit but something happen so every survivor migrate to a new world and the old one is taking peaple from other world to not die.

Mechanical undead(not official name yet): Murder Drone/SMG4 AU with some creepypasta characters, mostly the one's from games and TVs and website.

And this is a list of original concept (with shity summarys).

(no name yet): Dude that get sacrifice by is parent for a god who they dont know is already dead so dude become a vengeful spirit possesing a statue and kill peaple, after a while dude enconter immortal little girl with posseded plush and after a while form a brother/sister relationship. Lot of supernatural things.

Book of Sueñmei (name in progress): collection of storys about multiple peaple mostly some isekai one, only 3 have fixed story, the water lord who is a dude that got isekai as a monster seaslug and way way later become know as a guardian of the ocean. Then we have a mouse that get isekai into a prince with the power to become a monster mouse but only the royal mage know about it. And there is a monster sloth living in some sort of reserve that wish to fly. The other are still in développement.

(No name yet): originaly was just a Mairimashita Iruma-kun AU centered about my OCs but i decide to make it is own thing. Shity summarys, 2 demon found a spaceship with animals from all over the univers and when opening one of the cage a human girl began shouting at them with a gun, shenanigan happen and they live together in an abandoned mansion wich have a portal to the human world in the basement. They also encouter space police, ghost, divinity's and monster that definitely should stay as fairytales. It's mostly a not serious story but with serious moment.

THE MAINE FORESTS. (Updated Creepypasta AU, info on the setting)

Vilemoure:

Summary: Vilemoure is a fictional town based in Maine (I made it up, it’s not real). My AU is oriented around this town and its forests. There’s countless murders and missing cases but the locals and authorities are numb to the situation and ignore it entirely. The forests surrounding the town are eeire and hold extraordinary secrets that the locals seem to know about but act unaware.

A very, very small town in the dead centre of Maine. The sun rarely breaks through the perpetual gloom and the chill of the air cuts through you like a knife. Its tired buildings, weathered by years of neglect, stand as testament to the town's slow descent into decay.

Every boarded-up storefront, every crumbling facade, speaks to a town abandoned by progress and left to wither away in obscurity.

It's a town best avoided by those with any sense of self-preservation, a place where hope goes to die and dreams are swallowed whole by the darkness.

Christianity hangs over Vilemoure like a heavy fog, its presence suffocating and oppressive.

The church, its steeple reaching towards the gray sky like a skeletal finger, casts a long shadow over the town, its bells tolling mournfully in the distance, forcing you to feel the ache of Christ in your bones.

The devotion of the townsfolk feels more like a desperate grasp for salvation in a world devoid of hope.

With its dwindling population, Vilemoure is a town forgotten by time, its streets empty save for the occasional figure shuffling along, their eyes hollow and haunted.

Despite the mounting body count and the grisly discoveries, the townsfolk have grown numb to the horrors that stain their reputation.

Missing persons cases are whispered about in hushed tones, they are just another grim reminder of the town's slow decline, their stories lost to the apathy of those who remain.

Every week, like clockwork, dog walkers stumble upon the grotesque remnants of humanity: limbless torsos discarded amidst the underbrush, their vacant stares silently pleading for justice.

But instead of sparking outrage or fear, these grisly finds are met with an unusual acceptance, as if the townsfolk have resigned themselves to the inevitability of their fate.

The authorities, too, seem content to turn a blind eye, their investigations half-hearted at best, their excuses wearing thin with each new victim.

Perhaps they, too, have succumbed to the suffocating grip of despair that hangs over Vilemoure like a shroud, their efforts futile in the face of a darkness that refuses to be vanquished.

The screams of the victims echo unheard through the empty streets, drowned out by the apathy of those who have long since given up hope.

As the days turn into weeks, and the weeks into months, the cycle of violence continues unabated, each new atrocity serving as a grim reminder that in Vilemoure, the line between horror and reality is a thin and fragile thread.

The mere pervasive sense of despair that hangs in the air like a pall is enough to make anyone turn on their heels and run.

The Forests:

Summary: The forests of Vilemoure act as a gateway for the supernatural and cryptic. Murderers and the supernatural inhabit the woods, their only place of refuge, they leave a trail of bodies behind them. There are interconnecting portals that can lead you to entirely different parts of Maine, you can go from Bangor to Carmel in a matter of seconds. Those whole enter the forests usually get stalked and killed by murderers or the creatures, there’s low survival rate. Mentioning the forests to locals causes them to become threatening and evasive.

Those who are smart speak of the forests in hushed tones, distancing themselves.

Eye’s narrow with suspicion at the mere mention of venturing into the darkness beyond the town's edge.

Rumours spoke of portals and hidden pathways that crisscrossed the wilderness, connecting the forests in unexplainable ways.

Some claimed to have seen the glowing eyes of someone…something, stalking through the trees, while others swore they heard haunting inhumane screeches echoing in the night.

Faces peer out from behind trees, and footsteps echo through the undergrowth, a silent reminder that in Vilemoure, the woods belong to something far more sinister than just wildlife.

Dare speak of the forest and you may as well be asking for it.

They’ll watch you.

The townspeople will watch you.

There’s no room for outsiders that want to question everything.

The locals know the forests are home to something unnatural, they refuse to mention it.

If you question them you’re greeted with stares and silence, making you so uncomfortable you feel the urge to leave and never look back

In Vilemoure, the woods are a place best avoided, a realm of darkness where the line between hunter and prey blurs into obscurity.

Those foolish enough to wander into the forest find themselves the target of relentless stalking and torment by unknown people and creatures.

They watch, they wait, and they stalk, until finally, their silent message is clear: leave, or become another forgotten soul lost to the depths of the forest.

As the sun sets behind the skeletal branches, casting long shadows across the forest floor, the chilling truth of Vilemoure's forests becomes all too clear:

The darkness always wins.

✧ The Collective & Occultatumycete ✧

𖦹⭒°｡⋆𖦹 A Creepypasta AU by The Lady Oracle 𖦹⋆°｡⭒𖦹

a/n: Here are some basics for the setting for my Creepypasta AU! I am currently calling it The Collective, which may change.

✧ Interconnection ✧

“The Collective'' (otherwise referred to as the Land) is a the name of the setting in which our story takes place. The Collective is made up from large stretches of ground that belong to multiple locations across the globe. To further explain, the Collective is ever growing, as its magic comes from a powerful, ancient fungi that grows just below the earth’s surface. The fungi acts as an interconnection between locations.

Anywhere the fungi spreads is considered part of the land, as its magic properties allow it to sew sections of the world together seamlessly through metaphysical means - hence the name, the Collective, as it is a collection of multiple fragments of land from all across the world stitched together to create one massive location.

Due to this, the nature of the Collective looks different than that in society. Trees from different parts of the globe are sewn together as though they are a patchwork quilt; one moment you could be walking through a dense forest of pine trees and the next you are surrounded by redwoods. The supernatural fungi opens portals between locations, allowing these different landscapes to exist right next to each other, even if it wouldn't normally make sense.

The fungi, known as the Occultatumycete, can be found in many soils across the globe, although it is undetectable to the human eye. It can be transferred in a multitude of ways, most notably that of attaching itself to a human form and traveling with it. As a nomadic entity, its foundations are intricately webbed together and can stretch for miles.

✧ Relation to Seers ✧

The Occultatumycete is considered a Seer. It is an ancient creature, and it is acutely aware of everything that happens on the surface. It sees through the plant life, its Acolytes, and the hosts that it possesses. There is no telling where this fungi came from, nor when it arrived, and many of the Proxies and Denizens of the land do not even know it exists.

✧ Death and the Cycle of Blood ✧

Any deaths that take place in the forest nourish the fungi. At first glance, this looks like the work of any normal forest floor; breaking down animal carcasses and then that energy is given back to the trees and plants and other animals that live there - but it goes deeper than that.

Each life that is taken fuels the entity beneath the soil. It expands, and its power increases. The fungi become stronger, making it harder to detect and harder to destroy. This means that the Collective (or the Slender Woods) doesn't have a designated square footage, as the fungi continues to spread and conquer more and more acres so long as it lives. New locations pop up all the time, although there is seemingly no rhyme or reason for where the new additions fit.

The fungi seldom show up on the surface. However, when the fungi decides that it is time to find more land to claim, the small, black mushrooms begin to pop out of the ground. To find a suitable host is tricky, and it is a task that the fungi does not take lightly.

With the mushrooms now on land, the entity behind it is allowed to pick a host. The forest has been known for setting traps for certain individuals. The mushrooms have the ability to release spores that can play games with the human senses. It can cast illusions, and even poison those who stand too close to it. If the fungi is confident enough, it will find a victim and lure it towards its trap.

✧ Occultatumycete vs Society ✧

As the power swells beneath the surface, entangled in its web of thick fibrous hyphae, the world braves on; People go on hikes, kids play in parks, national forests stay open. The Collective is powered by the fungi, and in turn the land is mystical. The supernatural occultatumycete produces an invisible barrier, protecting anything or anyone from entering the land or even seeing it.

If the Land does not want you to enter it, then you will not be able to. It almost exists as a negative space between reality. If someone walks through one end of the barrier, it will simply spit the person out on the other side as if there were nothing in between at all. This also means that there is not one singular location in which this land can be found. There are no coordinates and there is no proper earthly location that it can be traced. However, the occultatumycete tend to live in soils that surround locations that are highly dense with negative human emotions.

Areas that are hostile in nature or house individuals that are going through a high level of suffering are often targeted by the Occutatumycete, as such negative emotions allow for easy targets for the fungi to find hosts. Those who are undergoing a lot of stress, those who are suffering from a variety of disorders (mental or physical), and overall those who are handling some sort of anguish or devastation are prime targets for the Occultatumycete. It is not uncommon to find Occultatumycete outside of prisons or mental institutions, but it’s also found sporadically and in locations that aren’t necessarily filled with heavy emotions.

✧ Access: How Does One Enter the Collective? ✧

The Seers do not allow individuals to enter its domain unless it allows them to. There are a few different ways an individual could end up in the Collective;

The Collective recognizes an individual as someone filled with such anguish, such devastation, or such instincts that they are invited into the land. Either as;

a source of fuel or energy (i.e. luring a victim onto the land with the pure intention of killing and consuming them under any means)

a host (i.e. luring an individual into the land to be used as a puppet to carry out the Collective’s whims)

An Acolyte has bargained with the Collective in order to obtain Proxies

This would mean that a certain individual is coerced or lured here after a series of events - traumatizing or unnatural - intentionally in order to serve the Acolyte

Once entering the land, the individual is known as a Denizen. After stepping foot into the Collective, there is no going back to a normal life. Even if a new Denizen were to try and escape back into society, the occultatumycete will always be calling them, beckoning them to return to the Collective by any means necessary. To clarify, one isn’t trapped in the Collective after entering, as they can come and go as they wish so long as they are fueling the land. However, individuals are rather tethered to it, unable to go back to a normal way of life after being in contact with this supernatural Seer.

✧ Weather ✧

Since the Collective is an amalgamation of many locations, it is natural that there are some strange weather patterns. It seems to have a mind of its own, and tends to be quite unpredictable. While the land seems to reflect the weather of all four seasons, it has been known to change rapidly and without warning.

Catastrophic events such as landslides, earthquakes, sinkholes, and the like can take place. These events can be contained to one singular area of the land. Similarly, it isn’t unheard of to have certain patches of land or individual pieces of nature to stand out completely in comparison to their surroundings. For example, it could be snowing in the forest but randomly there is a clearing that is shrouded in warm sunlight, and all the plantlife is alive. Or there is a rainstorm, but it’s only on one specific tree in the forest.
