What is a sweet nothing? Follow up question: if you can whisper sweet nothings, can you shout them too?
A "sweet nothing" is a phrase or word used to express intimacy to a loved one. Traditionally, such vocalizations are whispered but can be expressed at any volume for different results:
If one were to hold their lover close and caress their neck and whisper softly, "You make me so happy," the partner may well simply smile and hold them closer.
If however, one were to grab them by the hair and growl loudly at them, "You hot slut, I’m gonna make you moan like a walrus with sleep apnea," then their reaction may be very different.
Please also note that walrus apnea is no joke as CPAP masks cannot fit their tusks.

I have to use a CPAP machine so that I don't just stop breathing and casually die in my sleep, and I've used one for a long time.
Only now has my brain gone, "he's just like me fr"

Tip: if you pour cheap wine in your CPAP machine's humidifier, you will have dreams of drunken revelry and wake up with a nice buzz going.

anyone here use a CPAP machine that could answer some questions for me? replies, reblogs & asks all work! i am considering trying to get one and i am wondering how to go about it and other stufff.
1. if you’re comfortable sharing, what do u use it for?
2. have you found that it helps you with your issues?
3. did you get it yourself or did you get it prescribed? if prescribed (which is what i’m interested in), how did u go about it talking to a doctor etc. & was there any specific tests that were required?
4. if tests were required, were they difficult/hard to go through? like not in a “wow this test sure was hard to pass” kinda way, but in a “this was difficult bc the tests disturbed my functioning & symptoms” kind of way.
5. if you did get it yourself, where did u get it & how much did you pay?
again, feel free to ignore any questions you’re not comfortable answering!

Did a sleep study and I do in fact have mild sleep apnea. Anybody use a cpap? Wanna reassure me it’s chill and no big deal? Tell me it makes a difference and it’s totally worth it?

If u have a c-pap machine I suggest running it without ur mask on for a minute or two to air out any weird smells. Even when I clean it regularly sometimes there's still a weird smell, but if I let it air out beforehand it's completely fine. Usually you can use the mask fit setting to do this.

Got good news that the CPAP machine is working for me! I'm down from about 8+ interruptions per hour to just one!

how important is cpap maintenance? I struggle with it now and want to know if I should invest effort into actually changing the filters or putting water in the humidifier will help my sleep or if it's mostly okay and would only bring marginal benefits
When I was briefed on mine, I was assured that it's very important to keep it clean. You don't want to be breathing in dust and mildew after all. The thing that prompted me to make that post last night was that I'd changed out the filter two weeks late and breathing felt SO much easier and nicer. (I did uhhh use a cut out bit of an n95 mask because I haven't gotten around to ordering more filters, but honestly I think this works just fine, maybe better. And it's cheaper so I might keep doing it.) It was a relief and I slept pretty well last night.
I'm not a professional in any sense so take this as a limited experience opinion, but I'd also say putting water in the humidifier is probably important, unless it's very humid where you are. I forgot once and woke up with a horribly dry throat and it was awful compared to when I don't forget. :c Also rinsing it out is important because mildew and other build-up; another point in time I'd just left it for a while (it was super humid out and the water wasn't even going down each night) and when I opened it up again to rinse out, it smelled... weird. And I felt better after cleaning it out.
In general, I think it's important to make sure you're not breathing in particles that could hurt your health all night long.
I just dug out the maintenance guide I was given when I got mine. I don't rinse the tubing every day anymore (the doctor I spoke to said the once a week cleaning was fine enough), but it's a good guide and maybe it'll help you too? For reference, this is directed toward people with ResMed PAPs.

(The ratio it mentions is 1 part distilled white vinegar to 1 part hot water.)

When you wake up ~15 minutes before your alarm goes off, singing a “never give up” inspirational montage broadway type song… that has never existed before…
So, uhh, I guess the CPAP and meds are working?

✨New Equipment Day✨
These are the things you look forward to when you have a chronic illness.
I’ve had Sleep Apnea for over 3 years now and my mask never really fit, the air leaked out massively. Today I finally got a new mask that actually fit and as a bonus got some new equipment.
Fingers Crossed with this new mask my sleep will improve and most importantly my breathing. 🧠💤 #sleepapnea #cpapmachine #cpapmask #sleep #chronicillness #cpap #newequipment #selfie #blackandwhite
