thinking autistically (again) abt computer viruses and the different classifications + types of malware that exist and what Kinito (in-universe) would fall under… and considering kinitos sentience, it makes it a bit more complicated to figure out
i think- if we disregard the sentience -the website would have malware, or maybe the pc were given in-game is already infected w/ the code or something, somehow.
but if we uninstall Kinito or get a completely different computer, the likelihood of him following us there is extremely low (unless the network youre connected to in-universe is the thing thats infected).
i think Kinito would fall under the category of a PUP (potentially-unwanted program).
im no expert and am going off our shared knowledge but yeag. since Kinito is essentially sentient BonziBuddy that tries to actively participate in your life, he could be a PUP, or some other kind of virus.
i dont think that he could be something worse or even “dangerous”, though, since he cant exactly destroy your computer, just rifle around in your files and control bits and pieces of your pc. you do have to give him explicit permission to do that, after all, so ultimately its your L if you give him admin perms lol

⚠️(I talk about insects below, so here’s a heads-up just in case; there are drawings of bugs as well)
I was wondering how Sticks could get infected by computer viruses once the computer was infected. Viruses or worms infect programs, and since I think a lot of Sticks are created by humans, they count as programs. Though even if some Sticks are born and not created, they’re still made of data and can get infected.
After the viruses/worms infect a computer through e-mail or various other ways, they change form and are even more sneaky. Basically they look like bugs (for the viruses) or animals like earthworms (for the worms).
Some examples:
Sticks can get stung or bitten by viruses pretending to be actual insects, arachnids or worms. A lot of Sticks who get sick are gardeners or entomologists. Unlike earthworms, the disguised worms do bite.
If the bug or worm isn’t very strong and it bites or stings a Stick with antivirus protection, it’ll get destroyed instantly and the Stick won’t have a chance to get infected.
I’m still working on it but that’s the gist of it for now.

Any pronouns, playful and mean, ability to create multiple seemingly clones of themselves for the purpose of ruining your day, legitimately really tame compared to other viruses I suppose. Just a mean-spirited trickster vibe or whatever.

Cursed Item for your next D&D Game:
Ring of Idiocy: A magic ring, labeled “ring of power.” When you put it on, an angelic choir starts singing “You Are An Idiot!” and laughing repeatedly. All sound-based stealth checks automatically fail and perception checks are at disadvantage. The target cannot benefit from a short or long rest without passing a Wisdom saving throw of DC 10, +1 per day the ring has been worn. The ring teleports to a different finger every 1d4 rounds, or whenever an attempt is made to remove it. Casting a Silence spell that would affect the ring causes it to become louder. If the wearer’s fingers are all removed the ring will become a necklace. Decapitating the victim will cause their severed head to start singing “You Are An Idiot!” and follow the person responsible around, but the ring returns to normal. A “Remove Curse” spell allows the ring to be removed, but the wearer remains an idiot.

Vyrus - Self-proclaimed leader of viruses. She's sassy, and often times envious of motherboards within computers, which is why she commands armies to wipe computers clean. (Two forms similarily to malicious, the form i am currently showing in the main image is dubbed as her anthro form on the wiki, though her main form is allso anthro so idk?-)
Malicious - Highly respected among the Malware. Cunning and persistent, and has a vast number of malware who bring him riches without limits, including captured programs. (Has a buff form in which his hands can switch into any tool and a normal form.)
