Actually. Another type of soulmate AU is "everything is grey until you make physical contact with your soulmate then everything is colorful".
Imagine Murdoc roughly grabbing Stuart's comatose body to start taking "care" of him and then suddenly his world is full of color. Having to deal with the fact that he put his own soulmate in a coma, and that knowledge only makes him hate Stuart more.
Imagine Stu waking up from the coma, bleeding and in pain but able to see his own blood on the concrete in vivid red. His world is fuzzy and dim and he is so confused but he knows he wasn't seeing color when he was last conscious.
