COTL x SDV Crossover AU

I've been brewing something, and it's not Ancient Fruit Wine I promise. Inspired by Husky's Farmer AU I started working on a Crossover AU with Stardew Valley.

Prepare for some of my unfiltered notes and messy doodles.

Lamb - Charlie, he/they

Their family owns a livestock farm, which is owned by their parents. He and his siblings often help out around, taking care of the animals but he still has enough freedom and time to help other villagers and farmers such as Narinder. Livestock because that's kind of similar to taking care of the cultists, right? Right?? :'D

(this is basically like Marnie's Farm)

Charlie was found as an infant in the forest by his parents who brought him home to be raised like one of their own children. He is not aware of that, but he understands junimo language & can sense a certain aura from the deeper parts of the forest. He's also better at picking up the magical aura surrounding the magical creatures.

Bishops

Their god form is similar to their Eldritch form, whilst their disguise / mortal form is similar to their regular Bishop design. In their mortal form they still stand out though, considering they're usually taller than regular villagers and always surrounded by a mystic aura of sorts.

Narinder

Narinder moved to the valley recently. It's not clear if he did so on his own wish or if someone, or something made him. Either way he's here to start a new life, and despite not having any experience he still somewhat grows into this role. He's glad he can turn over a new leaf without the prejudice of his past life.

Lamb welcomes him the day he moves to the valley and quickly notices he has no idea what he is doing, and after watching him struggle for a bit he offers his help. Narinder, being too prideful to ask help on his own accord, accepts the neighbouring farmer's advice and help albeit a bit hesitant at first.

His original domain is the very bottom of Skull Cavern, but since he left for unknown reasons the residing monsters have run wild and rampant and the very cavern itself has twisted and distorted by the uncontrolled magic, making it run seemingly endlessly.

Twins

Baal is a full time adventurer in the Adventurer's Guild, he frequently goes on long trips down the dungeons to slay monsters, collect loot and bring home ores, minerals and weapons. Aym used to be an adventurer as well, but stepped down from a full time position after he injured his eye. He runs a flower shop attached to Forneus' General Store & sometimes helps out in the Guild selling goods.

Most other characters fill pretty expected or similar roles.

Forneus runs the local general store.

Rakshasa works at the Saloon.

Kudaii runs the blacksmith/weaponsmith. Clauneck is the fortune teller, perhaps also with a semi-permanent location in or near town.

Fisherman runs the fish shop.

Leshy

Leshy, a magical, possibly godly creature residing in the deep woods [based on the DeepWoods Mod that adds an infinite dungeon to the secret woods]. Sometimes he surfaces to the lighter parts of the forest. Not the only godly creature in the valley.

Heket

Heket resides in the Witch's Swamp. She stays mostly hidden and rarely shows herself to mortals, being more reclusive and drawn back. Few villagers are aware of the strange rune in the cave near the Railroads leading to her Swamp, and even if any dared to enter they'd be chased away quickly.

Kallamar

Kallamar resides in a deep ocean cave near shore. He frequently exits his domain to pass as mortal and help the villagers around town, usually dealing with illness and disease. He does not disclose his godly status though and villagers are under the assumption he's the doctor from the next village, coming into the valley ever so often to help patients.

Shamura

Shamura is the museum curator, at least that’s what it seems like. Them being the oldest they are very skilled at passing as a mortal with little to no flaw. Despite this they avoid the outdoors and don’t attend any holidays or town gatherings so as to not slip up in their disguise.

Their origin is unknown, but some suspect them to come from a faraway island.

incomplete list of niche characters i restrained myself from submitting to the niche comic character tournament

Ryoko Sabuki/Radiance: 7 appearances. Granddaughter of Gwen Lou Sabuki, whom I did submit. Biggest sensation since Dazzler, which would mean more if Marvel remembered Ryoko existed. Light generation and manipulation, just like her grandma.

Ameiko Sabuki/Goldfire: 9 appearances. The dead sister of Ryoko. I don't think she ever even showed her face in her non-powered form.

Leyu Yoshida/Sunpyre: 9 appearances. The dead little sister of Shiro Yoshida/Sunfire.

Marnie/The Rumor: 9 appearances. Spider-Man side character. Badass old lady. Figured out Peter Parker = Spiderman in like two issues.

Takeshi Matsuya/Wiz Kid: 29 appearances. He's literally so funny to me. I think he should be allowed to say fuck.

Nuwa: 2 appearances, once in an X-Force annual and once in a Tabitha Smith oneshot story. Her personality shifts wildly between those two and they never elaborate on why.

Tamara Kurtz/Dragoness: 28 appearances. Evil and loving it. Has wings, but they're technological, not part of her mutation.

Rina Patel/Timeslip: 19 appearances. No hate to whoever submitted Robbie, but she is definitely the more niche New Warrior.

Georgia Dakei/DK: 13 appearances. I like it when teenagers sass tf out of adult characters I think it is so fucking funny.

Sybil Dvorak/Skein: 44 appearances. her original villain name was a slur and i am SO glad they changed it. canon sensory issues queen. Also evil and loving it. Canonically bisexual (for evil).

Larry Bodine: 1 appearance. This is the guy from New Mutants vol. 1 who killed himself after his classmates joked about outing him. Yes this is the issue of NM with Kitty's infamous slur speech.

Rebecca Littlehale/Lighttrakker: 3 appearances. Kid from Power Pack who could teleport to light sources she could see.

Helen Takahama/Jolt: 74 appearances, which makes her the least niche character here. I need to reread Thunderbolts. In MC2 (Mayday Parker's universe), she was an Avenger.

Charlie Burlingame/Charcoal: 41 appearances. Created by a reader via a Wizard magazine contest. Legal problems means that he was never brought back when he was killed off.

The 23rd issue has been curated by Francesco Risso, the Italian fashion designer and creative director of the Milan-based fashion house Marni

Drawing upon an intimate yet diverse community of artists, musicians, writers, photographers, family and friends, A Magazine Curated By Francesco Risso is an analogue exploration of the print object through a myriad of visual and philosophical stimuli that question contemporary notions of living.

Divided into 20 distinct contributions across 240 pages, the issue is conceived as a compilation of scrapbooks – each a conceptual window into the minds and hearts of a protagonist or protagonists that offers a glimpse into their creative process or journey. Opening with a sketched or painted portrait, each chapter of the scrapbook is completely unique, featuring a plethora of lo-fi techniques from handwritten and mechanically typed pages to paper collages, illustration, painting, doodling and hand-retouched photography. The issue’s playful cover mimics a red vintage scrapbook, combining multiple finishing techniques including 3D scanning, a trompe l’œil embossed ‘tape’ spine, embossed ‘A’ and spot varnished portrait of Francesco Risso himself.

Within its pages, new commissioned works include visual portfolios photographed in Los Angeles, London, Milan and New York, with emphasis on celebrating individuality with a child-like yearning to explore. A catalogue of Marni objects and their fictional mythology by British writer Charlie Fox documented by the Italian photographer Andrea Artemisio is presented alongside Marni’s core ‘cabine’ of models photographed by Rachel Chandler.

The issue documents Francesco Risso’s boundless imagination, with a playful yet profound view of materiality, nature and the human spirit. A sense of liberation is perceivable throughout, from Sergio Cattivelli’s photographic series of the designer himself role-playing a myriad of characters, choreographer and artist Michele Rizzo’s poised figurative sculpture of endless lifetimes carved from clay and 90s Americana captured on film by Francesca Sorrenti. Twenty-one original portraits immortalise each contributor, bound together in a single publication that showcases the colourful whimsy of Francesco Risso and the graphic, colourful world of Marni.

Pronunciations Guide

Hello dear mortals!

I realized that if I want to communicate with all of you, you would need a pocket guide for how to pronounce names and other oddities as I am introducing the beings that I humbly work for. As I am sure you are aware translating all of this from our ancient tongue to your common one can be quite difficult for a humble scribe, such as myself. Some of these names just do not translate into words that are easily pronounced in the common tongue. So please forgive me if I make any mistakes in the common tongue phonetical spelling. Now this is not a complete list, so I will be updating with new posts as I continue to translate and transcribe the day-to-day life of our favorite prophetic savior. The guide will be just under the cut.

Uncut Gems series // Chapter 1: Blue Dinosaur

Summary: 20 years after their first born goes missing, a young detective takes a special interest in their case. All these years later, will they finally get the answers they need?

A/N: This is dedicated to my muse @multifandomme, thank you for continuous support as I complained multiple times in the process of writing this. This story is truly a thrill to write. I worked very hard on this and I hope everyone enjoys it.

“Chief, this is ridiculous, and you know it!”

“Stand down detective! You’re lucky, I’m not ordering you to surrender your badge right now,” Steve said firmly, and his jaw clenched. For a minute, they had a stare off, neither one of them wanting to back down. The chief sighed with his eyes closed for a second, “Marnie, we haven’t even put Slater to rest yet. You can lie to everyone else, but you can’t lie to me, I know his death affects you more than you let on. You questioned a minor without a guardian present for god’s sake!”

“He was selling on the corner of the bodega!” The woman defended passionately with her arms out in front of her.

“I don’t want to hear it. You’re on desk duty for three months. That’s final,” the chief dismissed with his hands clasped on the desk in front of him.

Without a word, Marnie huffed and excited his office, back to her desk. Marnie was furious not just at the chief for his decision, but at herself and at the world. Slater wasn’t supposed to die, but he did, and Marnie blamed herself.

That day was one of the worst days of Marnie’s life. It was a suppose to be just a regular follow-up on a lead. Next thing you know, her partner was on the ground bleeding out before her eyes. The worst part was having to explain to Slater’s wife what happened at the hospital, still covered in his blood.

Marnie sat down at her desk and let out a heavy sigh with her head in her hands. She desperately wished that she could just go back to three weeks ago when Slater was still alive, and her only problems were interrogations and paperwork.

“Aye Marnie, ya good over there?” Officer Happy asked with his coffee cup in his hand steaming and some Manila folders clutched to his side.

“Peachy, Happy,” she replied with a tight lip.

“Uh, Chief told me to give ya these. Said they needed transcribing into the database,” he said putting the folders on her desk.

Marnie let out another sigh and nodded in acknowledgment, which the officer returned before retreating to his own desk. The woman took the first folder off the stack and gave some of the papers a once over before typing away on her computer. Long story short, it was a petty theft case turned murder that was solved but the prints and details still needed to be put in the system.

A couple hours later, Marnie returned to the station with a sub for lunch, she kept working while eating. Finally, Marnie typed her last portion of the first folder and let out a much-needed stretch. Marnie finished her sandwich and scrunched up her wrapper into a ball with a sigh of relief.

Not long after she moved onto her next folder, this one was a twenty-year-old unsolved missing persons case that went cold. “Missing little girl, Charlotte ‘Charlie Y/LN Maximoff Romanova. What a mouth full,” she remarked. “Age four at the time. Last known whereabouts was Cutler’s County fair,” she finished.

Marnie flipped through the rest of the papers until a CD slipped out that read ‘Y/LN’s interview.’ She picked up the the disc and inserted it into her computer. She pulled out a set of headphones and pressed play on the video.

The first frame of the video was from an aerial view in the corner of the interrogation room. There was two people seated on opposite ends of the table at the center of the room. Presumably, the one with the notepad was the detective and the other was Y/LN.

‘Could you please state your full legal name for our records?’

‘Y/N Y/LN Maximoff Romanova.’

‘When was the last time you saw Charlotte?’

‘Cutler’s fair had just opened up and Charlie had been begging to go. My wives were busy with our two-year-old, since she had thrown a fit, and I decided to take Charlie to get some funnel cake. I told her to stay close to me while I paid the cashier, but I turned around for one minute and the next she was gone. I ran around everywhere trying to look for her. I-I saw a figure in a black hoodie and black pants getting away. They were holding Charlie’s blue dinosaur; she never goes anywhere without that thing. Please you have to find her. She’s just a little girl.’

‘A guy with a black hoodie, walks away with a blue dinosaur at a fair?’

‘Could be. I didn’t see their face.’

‘Mmhm. And did you say ‘wives’ as in plural? How’s someone like you get more than one broad?’

‘Are you kidding me?! My child is missing, and this is what you have to ask me? What kind of detective are you?!’

‘What the hell did you say?!’

Y/LN goes to answer but suddenly a woman with red hair in a black suit jacket and pencil skirt bust through the door.

‘Better watch what you say Detective. My client will not be disrespected by anyone, especially you.’

The detective leans back in his seat and lets out a whistle.

‘With those legs, I’ll let you disrespect me anytime you want.’

‘What the fuck did you say?!’

Y/LN briskly stands up while their chair goes flying back, and they grab the detective by the collar of their suit.

‘Y/N! Let the detective go!’

‘Oh, I see… One of the wives, eh?’

Y/LN doesn’t make any moves.

‘Now.’

With that final command from the red head, they let go of the man and smooth out their clothes. They pick up the fallen chair, and run their fingers through their hair, they let out a slow breath to collect themselves

‘Have a good day, detective.’

The two exit like nothing happened, leaving the detective alone as the video cuts.

Marnie clicks her teeth when the video finishes and slips her headphones to rest around her neck. After she finishes her last note, she looks through the papers again. Finding a few photos of the girl and her family, she noticed how happy they all were in a family photo.

“Y/LN’s CFO at Stark enterprises. Romanova’s a partner at Romanova, Barton & Barnes LLP. Maximoff is Chef and restaurateur with three Michelin star restaurants,” she skimmed and jotted down in her notes.

“Such big names and a case like this still runs cold,” she comments with her brows furrowed.

Marnie writes down the address of the family and cleans up the case files to bring with her, seeing as the home was not far away.

Shane x Farmer.

Wine. His worst enemy. But it was the only alcohol being served at this damn thing, so he gave in to a glass. It made him loopier than normal.

“Shane! Uncle Shane!” Jas called from the distance, “Vincent isn’t dancing. Why?”

“Oh-“ Shane was caught off guard by the question, feeling uneasy, “uh, I dunno kiddo. Shy?”

“Shy? Vincent? Yeah right,” Jas scoffed, folding her arms. He couldn’t help but smirk.

“Well, yeah, Jas,” he chuckled, crouching down to become eye level with her, “even if he seems like he’s not, he’s probably shy about this particular…situation.”

“Why,” Jas continued scoffing, less of a question and more of a statement, eyes rolling into the back of her skull.

“Uhm, I guess you just have to understand when your older?” Shane wasn’t sure how to approach this subject with Jas, wishing Marnie was closer, but she was fully encapsulated by the Mayor

“I just want to be a part of the dance!” Jas pouted, stomping a foot.

“I know,” Shane sighed, peering into his wine glass, unsure of how to help.

“VINCENT!” Jas hollered, stomping away. Shane let himself smile, enjoying Jas’ tenacity. She learned long ago to take care of herself, to Shane’s dismay. In the corner of his eye, he spotted some brilliant red hair make way onto the field, covered by a white sun hat. He let his gaze lift to see her more clearly. The farmer clutched her purse close to her, eyes darting every which way. He tilted his head as he observed her. As her eyes scanned the area, he didn’t want her to catch him staring, so his eyes plunged back into his glass. Albeit, he let his gaze rise just a bit so he could carry on viewing her, interested if she would fall back into her usual group of the dumb kids. He took in her appearance, she looked nicer than she usually does: she bothered to slap on a flowy blue dress and some sandals, a nice change up from her usual overalls and boots. Her hair sat upon her shoulders, a bit wavy, a little unruly. Shane’s bottom lip subconsciously withdrew between his teeth.

She looks cute.

STOP. He cleared his throat and brought the bitter drink to his lips, sucking it down. Getting more intoxicated would help this whole thing along. He looked up at the sound of Jas once more, but it was in the same direction as the farmer.

“Farmer Charlie!” Jas threw herself at the farmer. She seems to be her favorite person at the moment. Penny was her favorite for so long, but that title seems to have been passed on now.

“Farmer Charlie,” a voice, amused, called from the side. The dark, broody, emo one approached them, followed by Sam and the purple girl.

Purple girl, you’re one to talk, huh? Broody…

Shane let his gaze drop back into his glass, but his ears were wide open. What better things did he have to do than to listen? Justification.

“You came! Yay!” Jas hopped off her legs, clapping excitedly.

“Ha, yeah-“ Charlotte started.

“Glad you came.” Sam continued.

“You should dance with Miss Penny, she’s a great dancer!” Jas pushed, pointing at Penny who was caught up in conversation with Maru. Shane couldn’t help but lift his head up, bemused at this interaction.

“Oh-uh, I-“ Charlotte stuttered, looking up at Penny, who turned her head to smile warmly at her.

“Nope, that’s my dance!” Sam proclaimed, hands on his hips. Penny’s smile seemed to grow.

“Aw,” Charlotte hummed, smiling up at Sam.

“Well...what about him?” Jas frowned, looking up at the broody one, her nose crinkling a bit at the thought. Shane rolled his eyes as he listened.

“And that’s my dance,” Abigail hooked her arm into Sebastian’s, who’s head turned away from her “or else I won’t have one…and mom will be pissed to say the least.”

“Well!” Jas eyebrows fused together, looking fairly irritated, “farmer Charlie has to dance!”

Charlotte let out a hearty laugh and clasped her hands over Jas’ cheeks, looking warmly down at her, “Jas, it’s okay! I’m not upset-”

“No!” Jas balled up her fists and pulled them next to her sides, turning her head to scan the crowd “uhm…OH! My uncle Shane!”

Charlotte froze in her tracks. She heard her three ‘friends’ burst into laughter next to her. She pursed her lips together and lifted her eyes from Jas, checking the field. Then they landed on Shane. He was already staring at her, concern painted upon his face as well, a death grip on his empty glass.

“Yeah, he needs a partner!” Jas beamed, grabbing Charlotte’s hand. Shane felt his heart begin thumping way harder than he’s felt in a long time as his goddaughter and the farmer approached, ever faster. He nearly dropped his glass, but managed to maintain composure. He twisted his head around to the familiar voice of Emily chatting behind him.

“Emily!” He called, panicking. Emily looked up at him inquisitively. She began strolling towards him, “we’re dancing, right?”

Jas stopped in front of him and let her face fall into a frown once more. Charlotte’s cheeks burned something fierce, embarrassment washing over her.

Damn kid.

“Huh?” Emily’s head shot forward, eyes squinting. “I thought yo-“

“We talked about it, right? The other night. Yep.”

“Uh, hmm..”

“You’re dancing with Emily,” Jas asked, pointedly, arms crossing, eyebrow raised.

“Yep.”

“Oh,” Jas let out a disappointed sigh, thankfully buying it, then looking up at Charlotte with big, doughy eyes. “I dunno who else you could dance with!”

“How about you?” Charlotte broke the tension, offering her hand to Jas. Jas tilted her head at an angle, a smile forming over her lips. Jas took in a deep breath, and then-

“Oh, YEAH!!!” Jas jumped into the air, clapping, unadulterated excitement emanating from her bones, “yes, yes, yes! Can you dance? Do you know how? I can teach you, here let’s go!”

And with that, the girls were gone, Jas rushing them to the middle of the field for a quick lesson. Shane breathed a sigh of relief, pulling his drink to his mouth to consume, deeply. As he slurped down the last drop, he returned to the stand to get more, Emily on his tail.

“Thought you weren’t dancing?” Emily teased, hands on her hips, looking down upon him. Already the same height as Shane, she now towered over him in her heels. Shane didn’t bother to look towards her, refilling his glass. “No bother, I like dancing-oh, look at them!”

Shane looked up from his glass to see what Emily was pointing at. He watched the farmer twirl through the grass with Jas, Jas looking happier than ever. Jas had her feet on top of the farmers, letting her guide her around. He looked higher to see the farmers face, reddened likely by the sun, but full of joy. He lowered his eyes again to look at Jas.

That girl deserves the world.

He pursed his lips again, clutching the drink tightly, intently looking down upon it.

“Jas looks happy as a clam,” Emily sighed dreamily, resting her hand on Shane’s shoulder, “isn’t that sweet?”

“Hmm…” Shane hummed. He did agree. It was one of the best things he’s seen in a while. Penny was really great, truly. She was so good with the kids, teaching them. But Jas just looked lost in a moment of pure bliss, doing something she wanted to do, with no restraints. Sam and Vincent were fun, but the farmer was indulging her in something that not many people would. Marnie was too busy with the mayor, Shane was too busy being neurotic and anxious.

Why can’t you do that with her?

“It is,” he conceded, sighing into his glass, turning to the table of food. He set his glass down and grabbed a plate, picking some greens onto it with a scoop of some sort of sauce.

“She’s so good with that girl,” Emily mused, wrapping her arms around her own waist, “it’s just what she needs.”

“Oh, right, and you know that, how?” Shane snapped, looking up from his plate to eye Emily. She raised her eyebrows, a playful smile upon her face-all too familiar to Shane.

“Careful,” Emily sang, pointing a finger right in Shane's face, “you want me to dance with you, right?”

“Hmph, it doesn’t matter now. Jas is distracted. Sandy won’t be jealous?” Shane teased uncharacteristically, perhaps inappropriately.

“Oh she knows all about you,” Emily jeered with a giggle. Shane frowned, “it’s fine. She doesn’t even live here, I need someone to talk to! You’re one of the few that knows about her, aren’t you?” Emily’s voice became low, her eyes cutting into Shane.

“Sure,” Shane scoffed, looking back into his disgusting wine. “You know I don’t really care.”

“Yeah, that’s why I told you,” Emily glowered as Shane picked up his plate, shoveling a forkful into his face. Slowly, Jas and the farmer made their way closer and closer to himself and Emily.

“Mmm…excellent sauce,” Shane mused, unwillingly. He had a soft spot for spicy, “this green stuff is spicy. Yowch” he chewed quicker, eager to relieve his mouth of it, “who made this?”

“That would be me!” The farmer giggled as her and Jas inched closer, “Jas told me you guys like spicy!”

Shane glanced at her, breath caught in his throat, mouth full.

“Clever girl,” Emily bent over, slapping her hands to her knees, bringing her face close to Jas’.

“I wish you could dance with Emily,” Jas grinned, her eyes bouncing between the farmer and Emily, “she’s the best dancer.”

“Oh, you know it,” Emily reached into her dress pockets, pulling two unknown, shiny gems out and lifting them into the air, “c’mere, Jas!”

Jas began cracking up, dancing between Emily and the farmer. She was having the time of her life.

“Look at those moves!” Charlotte hollered, lifting her hands into the air as well to join the girls. Shane felt his entire body consumed in heat, but he couldn’t help but smile. His goddaughter was busting up with laughter, she looked like she was going to keel over in stitches between these girls. He let his mouth open to reveal a toothy grin, lowering his glass to the table.

“Yess!” Emily twirled around, pumping her fists into the air. Shane listened as a hearty laugh bellowed out of the farmer. All eyes on them.

With all of them so close, Shane could see the farmer so clearly. Her skin looked soft, albeit a bit red with work. Her eyes were a vibrant shade of green, contrasting extraordinarily with that freshly dyed red head of hers. She had a tiny, pointed nose, and her lips were thin, teeth pearly. His eyes lingered on her lips a bit longer, before tracing the rest of her face. Wrinkles were forming on the sides of her eyes, smile lines etching her face. He let himself wonder. How old was she? What’s her last name? Where did she come from? How was she so good with Jas? Why did Marnie like her so much?

It’s clear why, idiot, look at her.

“This is just what Jas needed,” he heard a soft whisper beside him, and broke his gaze away from the farmer to find Marnie next to him. Shane cleared his throat and looked back at his drink.

“Yeah…” he spoke involuntarily, sucking his lips in. Marnie’s stare was burning a hole in him, and he let out an exasperated sigh, “what?”

“Nothing,” air escaped Marnie’s nose with a bit of pressure, a small laugh breaking away from her before she turned her attention back to the girls, “nothing at all.”
