About Dan
Something I would like to see addressed more in Danny Phantom fanworks, especially crossovers, is that Dan is not Danny.
Just to be clear, I don't mean that in a "Danny didn't take that path and didn't become that person" way. A lot of stories tend to refer to Dan as an evil version of Danny from another timeline, but that's not what he is.
Dan is not Danny.
He never was.
Dan is not Danny's evil future self. He is not Danny from an alternate Timeline. He is not Danny at all.
In Dan's timeline, Danny and Vlad both got split in half. The ghost halves of both merged and became Dan. Dan is a new entity who was made from half of Danny and half of Vlad. He is not a version of Danny any more than he's a version of Vlad.
Dan actually has more in common with Vlad both physically and personality-wise. Physically, Dan has Danny's hair color and face shape, but he has Vlad's eye color, skin tone, fangs, ear shape, and hair texture. Personality wise, Dan got Vlad's cruelty, ego, lack of empathy, some of his manipulative tendencies, and his flair for the dramatic. He got Danny's impulsiveness.
There are similarities between Dan's origin and the "evil future self from a bad future" plot that is so common in superhero stories, but that's not what Dan is. Danny doesn't exist in Dan's timeline. His human half is dead and his ghost half was part of the materials used to make Dan. This is spelled out pretty explicitly in the show. The Boo-merang doesn't track Dan because it's locked onto Danny's ecto-signature, not Dan's.
You could compare Dan to an offspring of Danny and Vlad. It would certainly be closer than calling him a version of Danny. That said, I think the better description would be that, whatever Frankenstein's creation was to the people whose graves Frankenstein robbed to make him, that's what Dan is to Danny and Vlad.
Danny's fears regarding the Dan timeline would not be about his own potential to go bad, but about Danny's friends and family dying, Danny being left at Vlad's mercy with no support system, and Vlad experimenting on him in a way that results in Danny's death and Dan's creation, and Danny ending up in a bad enough state of mind to let him do it.
I noticed that a lot of Danny Phantom and DC crossovers especially tend to simplify Dan into an alternate Danny who had a villain arc, and it occurred to me that a lot of people approaching from the DC side of things probably never watched The Ultimate Enemy and don't know the actual story behind Dan.
It's really too bad, because I think there's a lot to be done with it.

Honestly, I think I’ve discovered the actual reason Amber and Alfie don’t work in HOA like they work in the original HHA or DHA. And it’s not entirely due to the actual canon events that are written for this version of the pairing (the dating handbook, Amber’s “no” to Alfie’s attempt at breaking up, forcing Amber into the trial relationship in the first place, etc., etc.), though it certainly doesn’t help. It actually comes down to how their characters were adapted for the English version of the show, and how they are fundamentally different than the OGs.
I’ll start with Alfie first. Alfie in HOA is a goober. He’s doofy, well-meaning, and most importantly childlike. Not even just childish, but childlike. He’s boyish and bubbly, and he certainly makes some weird, sorta sexual comments (especially in S1), but on the whole he’s quite an innocent character. Essentially, he reads as very young. Which he is, especially at the start of the show where he’s probably supposed to be about 15/16, but could even be as young as 14.
Appie, on the other hand, is also a goober. But a different type. He’s honestly way more like Jeroen than Alfie is like Jerome, meaning he’s a something of a womanizer, a bit douchier, and on the whole reads a lot older than Alfie, which I’m almost certain is canonical across all characters (with HHA characters supposedly ending the show at the age of 19, with the timeline across the 4 seasons being only two years— three at most).
The few things character-wise both Appie and Alfie share intrinsically are that they’re besties with Jeroen/Jerome who doesn’t always treat him well, his love for a good practical joke, and (in earlier seasons) his pining for Amber. Of course, Appie also goes through phases of being a bit of a ladies man (see his random interest in Mara), but on the whole these things are constant. But already, the English version of the character is a lot more twinkly eyed and is like “Amber’s really pretty, I hope she notices me” as opposed to the Dutch “Damn she’s hot, lemme tap that”. It’s very subtle, because he’s obviously not a sleazy, bad guy, but it’s though being friend zoned by Amber (for the whole series) that Appie begins to loosen up and be less of a sleaze and more of the silly and whimsical guy we know him as; that’s because of Dutch Amber’s characterization.
I’ll come back to why all that matters, after I discuss the Ambers. (For the sake of keeping track, I’ll refer to them by their last names). Rosenbergh is a rich, pretty, ditzy party girl, but she’s incredibly perceptive. She sniffs out bullshit in an instant, especially with the Mick and Mara situation, but overall she has wicked foot-in-mouth syndrome and just sorta blurts out the first thing that pops into her head even if it’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever heart in your life. She’s extravagant, over-the-top, full of whimsy, and is downright silly. Rosenbergh is simultaneously a ditz and very smart. Simultaneously is the key word here.
Millington is not. She is a much more toned down version of her OG counterpart, and I think that is mostly due to the different actresses takes on the character. This isn’t to say, Millington isn’t any of the those of adjectives I used earlier, but the difference between the English and the Dutch versions of the character is that while Rosenbergh is both smart and ditzy, Millington is simply smart and plays at being ditzy. At least that’s how it reads, and how it reads is incredibly important in this case. Millington would never be caught dead in some of the situations Rosenbergh found herself in, because she’s a fundamentally more uptight version of the character.
So why does all this matter? Because the version of Alfie that we get from the very start is far more like Appie after a good hunk of his subtle character development— far more like Amber Rosenbergh. Amber Millington, on the other hand, is not the type of girl to ever mesh that well with a wild, goofy personality like Alfie’s. She’s just not. Alfie would work super well with Rosenbergh, however, because she’s this whimsical girl with a lot of heart. It’s why Appie works so well with her, too.
This isn’t a diss of HOA!Amber, by the way, because her English characterization is a masterful adaptation of the OG, but there’s a reason why even in S3 of HOA, at the supposed established point of Amfie’s relationship, they still feel so estranged from each other. At the end of the day, Millington has a different outlook on life and an entirely different mindset than Alfie. This isn’t to say they couldn’t work ever, but they’re just not the same pairing that Amber/Appie are.
It also didn’t help that Amfie had no best friends era. Like, sometimes I think we forget that Amber and Appie didn’t get together until the reunion movie. Like they weren’t a canon couple in the series. He liked her, but she didn’t like him back and they were besties. Their chemistry was chaotic and silly, and they had to grow into each other for them to work. Which is why they work. Amber and Alfie never did that, and part of me wonders if that wasn’t entirely because of the plot the English writers put down for them, but rather because the was Ana and Alex played the characters off each other just didn’t allow for it.
Which brings me to my last point: Willow. Arguably, Willow is more like HHA!Amber than HOA!Amber is, and that’s all because of the magic word I’ve been using this whole, poorly-written essay: whimsy. Willow is the glitterbomb to Alfie’s fuse. Their dynamic feels exactly the same as Appie and Amber because Willow is the writers’ second attempt at having Amber Rosenbergh in the picture, and that’s why Walfie works so much more naturally.
Anyway, this got long and I’m sure I missed stuff but yeah. TL;DR: Amfie was unable to replicate Ampie bc they’re just different

Hello, Batfans!
Mod Kye here.
First and foremost, thank you so much for your patience, and my sincerest apologies for how long this has all taken to wrangle together. I have a handful of long-awaited updates below on previous delays, digital copies today, wrap-up and leftover sales, so please read carefully!
To start, I'd like to issue an apology for the delays this project has suffered over the course of its run and offer a bit of transparency. This year was unexpectedly very hard personally and health-wise, and without going into detail about illness for the sake of sensitivity, took me out of contact on several weeks-long stretches and occasions, leaving my team in the dark without news—and by extension all of you. Such long radio silence and delays are not what you want in a project that deals with people's money, trust and time, and I know it's been frustrating, and for that I'm so sorry. My lack of communication was difficult and monumentally unfair for everyone involved, and I wanted to take a moment to thank Mods Ari and Michi, as well as Kait, for working behind the scenes to keep things running, to update all of you when they could, and for going above and beyond in ways there aren’t words for, when I was unable or unwilling to step up. If any readers are in the zine scene (as regular buyers, or as contributors yourselves) and see them on a project in the future, please check it out, because they’re a force like no other, and will make an amazing experience out of anything they run. They are, quite frankly, the only reason this project was started and finished, and deserve all the support you guys have sent and more for what they went through and accomplished despite the difficulties I caused them, our contributors, and our timeline to you, our customers.
Order Fulfillment
All customer orders were mailed out June 2nd. As I was unable to update BigCartel with tracking at the time, it meant that most of you were not notified. I’m incredibly sorry. I’ve spoken to a handful of folks about their packages this week, but from our internal shipping system, it appears everything was safely delivered. If you have not received your package, or have had any issues with your delivery, please touch base with me at [email protected] about your order!
Contributor bundles will be going out this weekend, which means it’s time for…
Digital Bundles
An email with a direct link to our wonderful digital bundles will follow this update that just went out in about an hour just to please email spam servers, so please keep your eyes peeled and on your inboxes if you're waiting on that! If you have any issues receiving it, make sure you check spam/junk folders first and then reach out so I can help ensure you receive it!
And Finally, Leftovers!
Last but certainly not least, a final announcement for anyone with a friend or loved one eagerly awaiting getting their hands on the cool book and wicked merch they saw you get recently. Our leftover sales will be opening Wednesday, September 20th! If you know someone who missed out on sales the first time around and would love to support this incredible project, please spread the word—or if you’d like to grab an extra keychain for your collection, we’ll see you then!
A separate post with a full announcement will be made tomorrow to circulate just so it doesn't get lost in the update here.
Thank you so much for reading this far, and for sticking with us and supporting this project.

what is your general read of caliborn? like character motivation wise? i love him sosososo much but i think i take a particularly charitable view of his character. like yes he is a hater misogynistic time demon obsessed with gore. but he is also obsessed with art and love <3 personally i think of his primary motivations in the comic as a combination of ambition but more importantly a desire for freedom / the ability to be his own man and to not be threatened or controlled by other people (callie, gamzee, chewing off his leg, etc.) he loves to win but the real prize that comes with winning is the ability to exercise your will on others rather than to have the will of others exercised on you, & i think this interpretation tracks with how he becomes the literal lord of time, which is basically fate in the comic? although it fucks him in the end anyway. idk this is how i think of him and therefore i do kind of think he is just a baby doing his best. like SURE he did galactic crimes. but he was also SAD and TRAPPED. <- no one agrees with me
I don't think my take on him is quite so generous. I think that ultimately, Caliborn's actions are primarily motivated by his drive for destruction.
That said, I agree with you that there's more to him than just wanting to fuck shit up forever. The problem is that I don't think Caliborn knows that. Perhaps he was sad, but if he was, he never realized it. Certainly he was trapped, but most of those traps were, ultimately, of his own devising. And he does value art and love, but not enough to consider straying from his destructive path for even a moment.
Bear with me, because my answer to this ask has basically become a thesis on Caliborn. I'll present it in two sections: one about Caliborn's relationship with fate, and one about his tragic lack of self-awareness.
Freedom and Fate
The thing about Caliborn is that I don't think he really values freedom at all, as a concept. Certainly not others' freedom, but not really his own either. He's all about rules, and he's more than willing to accept restrictions if doing so will get him closer to his goal.
Because if all Caliborn had wanted was freedom, he could have achieved it much more easily by working with Calliope. If they had trusted each other at all, they could have been free of their shackles within a day by simply agreeing that they'd each leave their own shackle off when they slept. If Caliborn had been willing to play the game with Calliope, their joint game session would have been far, far more fun than his nightmare of a solo session was.
Of course, Calliope is perhaps the principle person he wants to be free from. But Calliope isn't really trying to control him — she wants to cooperate with him. (On the other hand, to say that she wants him to cooperate with her is to say that she wants him to become more like her, which is, perhaps, its own sort of destruction of his personality. But let's be honest, Caliborn's personality fucking sucks and everyone, including him, would be way better off if he were more cooperative.)
It's true, though, that Caliborn wants to become not only the master of his own fate, but the master of everyone's fate. And he succeeds! But the way he does it isn't by seeking to change fate — it's by embracing the inevitable. When he sees that something is going to happen in the future — even if it's his own defeat — his instinct isn't to fight it. It's to make himself into the one responsible for it.
(This also indirectly makes Caliborn responsible for his own imprisonment as a child. By the point in the story when the cherubs are born, Gamzee is acting as little more than a manifestation of Caliborn's own will. Everything he does is to ensure Lord English's eventual existence, at Lord English/Caliborn/Lil Cal's behest.)
In the end, Caliborn's will is so tightly interwoven with the alpha timeline that cause and effect become blurry. Is it fate because he wills it, or does he will it because it's fate? To Caliborn, I don't think that's a meaningful question. He believes to the core that what he wills is inevitable, and that if something is inevitable, it must be because he willed it. The two are one and the same to him.
Personally, I would argue that Caliborn is just as bound by fate as anyone else in the comic — maybe even more so — but it's because that's the path he's chosen of his own "free" will. Is that freedom? The freedom to choose not just to embrace inevitability, but to become the inevitable? Perhaps.
Now… could he ever have chosen otherwise? (They say that when you face The Choice, it hardly feels like a choice at all.)
Really, Caliborn is a self-fulfilling time loop. Right from the start, he is exactly what he needs to be to ensure his own predominance.
The Tragedy of Caliborn
So here's the flip side to Caliborn's inevitability.
The tragedy of Caliborn is that what he's determined to get isn't necessarily what's best for him as a person. What he thinks he wants is to fuck shit up, forever and always. This is his goal. This is always his goal. And he succeeds at this goal beyond his wildest imaginings… at the cost of giving up literally everything except for that goal.
Because, yeah, I agree that Caliborn does care about art. He does, deep down, want love and affection. But he'll throw all that away for power, without hesitation. It's really kind of sad.
Lord English is the culmination of everything Caliborn has been working for. He is everything that Caliborn thinks he wants to be. But Lord English doesn't tell stories. Lord English never holds hands with anyone. Lord English is barely even a character. He's a force of nature, the personification of destruction. There's nothing left of Caliborn in him except for raging misogyny and the drive to murder entire universes.
And the worst part is, Caliborn understands himself so little that he never once regrets this. In pursuit of his goal, he gives up everything that makes him him, and he doesn't even notice!
I've said before that, by definition, Caliborn can't question himself — because if he were the sort of person who ever doubted himself, he wouldn't be the sort of person who could become Lord English.
This is the downside of that. Caliborn cannot ever decide "wait, maybe I'd rather spend my life making art and smooching dudes instead of fucking shit up for all eternity?" The idea that he could have been wrong about what he thought he wanted out of life is inconceivable to him.
And, like… I guess getting to destroy shit for all eternity makes Caliborn pretty happy! But… maybe he could have been even more fulfilled some other way?
Caliborn doesn't think so! But there's a hell of a lot Caliborn doesn't understand about himself.

Love Is A Dagger (Loki x OFC) - Chapter One
Tumblr media
Summary: When Loki is apprehended by an organisation called the Time Variance Authority, he didn’t expect to be roped into helping a certain agent hunt an elusive variant that had been terrorising the TVA for years. What he also didn’t expect, was for the variant to apparently be connected to his timeline, to him. He couldn’t have anticipated where this whole venture would lead. The woman from his future, exposing truths about the TVA, and one big branching mess. Sacrifice, grief, anger and love… But which will prevail?
Warnings: ‘Loki’ spoilers
FIC MASTERLIST // PREVIOUS // NEXT
THE ARCHIVES - THE TIME VARIANCE AUTHORITY - TIME UNKNOWN
"And you're sure this variant is connected to me?"
Loki raised a brow, glancing up from the report he had been skimming. He was now fitted in TVA uniform which was far better than that awful, drab jumpsuit. And that blasted collar had been removed - wise and foolish at the same time.
Although, it could do with something a bit more... refined. And the colours are still extremely dull.
Mobius had asked him to go over the case files, the reports of the ambushes, to see if he could spot anything the TVA couldn't. But it seemed whoever was on the warpath against the TVA was well versed in covering their tracks. Sneaky and stealthy it seemed.
"I mean, how can you even be sure?" Loki threw the document down, leaning back in his seat, looking over at the agent sat opposite him who was also looking through the files.
"Loki, we're the TVA, it's our job to be sure." Mobius replied lowly in return, closing the file he had been staring at for the last few minutes.
"Well, you don't even know who they are-" Loki pointed out, shrugging lightly. "Which is why you needed my help in the first place." He paused. "You're hoping our elusive variant will catch wind of the God of Mischief aiding the organisation they seem so intent on disrupting, making them slip up, assuming they know me well enough for it to rattle them." He tilted his head slightly as Mobius raised his brows, letting out a wry huff.
"You're quick, I'll give you that." The agent wagged a finger at Loki as the God's lips twitched.
"Mobius, I'm a God." He replied, tone turning mocking. "Of course I'm quick." His brows furrowed, hand lifting from the table in a gesture of 'duh, obliviously'.
"Yeah, yeah, I know." Mobius conceded, eyes rolling faintly. "Except, not quick enough it seems." He added with a sigh, waving a dismissive hand towards the stacks of files. "I mean, it's bad enough when it's another you we have to deal with, but whoever this is really is taking the biscuit." He shook his head. "They're giving you a run for your money."
"Oh, I assure you-" Loki huffed out a dry laugh. "They are no match for me." His tone held his signature air of cockiness, arrogance.
This variant most certainly won't outsmart me.
"Yeah, I thought you'd say something like that." Mobius muttered, reaching for another file. "Keep up that bravado, helps with morale." He quipped, smirking faintly as Loki sent a quick glare his way.
Bravado. The nerve.
ROXXCART, HAVEN HILLS - ALABAMA - 2050
Finally. The hunt has led to this moment. Time to find out who you are, variant...
After a lot of searching and theorising, Loki and Mobius had managed to find out where the variant had likely been hiding. Loki had discovered apocalypses were the most likely answer, a place where no matter what the variant did, it wouldn't cause a branch. No nexus events could be created.
Clever. I'll give them that.
Stepping into the eerily silent, dimly lit superstore, Loki eyed their surroundings, taking in all possible hiding spots and escape routes their variant could take. Letting out a sigh, he swiftly let a shimmer of magic travel over him, drying his clothes from the storms rain as B-15 frowned at him, stepping back.
"What the hell was that?" She asked, tone a mix of surprise and irritation. Loki raised a brow, pursing his lips as he turned to look at her, hands in his trouser pockets.
"That was magic." He replied simply, glancing at the group. "Drying my clothes." He shook his head slightly, shrugging. "So I don't announce myself with every squeaky footstep like the rest of you." He paused. "At least one of us has to be sneaky to match our variant, not simply barrel in with all the grace of a bull in a china shop." He said wryly, as Mobius let out a slow breath, shaking his head at B-15 to drop it. He had come to realise it was best to just let Loki say his little comments and leave it at that, otherwise it would quickly become a battle of barbs. Loki's whole stick was to see if he could rile people up, get them to react, have them give him attention. Unfortunately, for Mobius, it worked most the time, but now was not the time or place for quips and jabs.
It wasn't long until B-15 and Mobius had a disagreement about who Loki should go with. Loki watched, lips pressed in a thin line. He was too eager to get on with the chase than to stand around and watch the pair argue about who got babysitting duties.
"It's okay." Loki held up a hand towards Mobius, raising his brows. "Trust is earned, I understand that." He said sincerely, holding the agents gaze. "So, trust that I am far too curious to find out who this vexing variant is to do anything that a uh..." He smirked faintly. "-mischievous scamp would do." He recounted Mobius' earlier words when describing him, looking at him beseechingly. Mobius sighed, shifting on his feet as he glanced at B-15, who was definitely not going to back down from her stance that Loki should stay with her.
"Fine." Mobius reluctantly conceded, before turning to Loki, pointing at him. "But first sign of trouble-"
"And I will ensure B-15 here reports straight to you." Loki finished for him with a small nod. With one last glance between them all, Loki moved to stand beside B-15, hands still in his trouser pockets, radiating a sense of calm and collected. He wasn't at all worried about this variant. In fact, he truly believed he could get them on side. Not the side of the TVA, of course, but his own side. The side where he overthrows the Time Keepers and ascends as God King.
Let the games begin.
This was it.
Everything she had been waiting for. All the years spent endlessly planning, thinking of every possible outcome and trouble that could arise.
Her hands twisted together the last two wires, her figure hidden in the shadows as she finished up the rig. Reset charges littered the shelves around the superstore, thunder clapping outside as the rain pelted down, wind hitting the building, only getting stronger as the storm drew closer.
Activate the charges, send them to disrupt the timeline causing chaos, get to the TVA and find the Time Keepers and make them pay. Easy.
Taking a breath, she slowly stood from her crouched position, stepping back from her handiwork to survey it. With a small nod to herself, she reached round to her holster to grab the TemPad, steadying herself for what was to come. However, her head snapped up as she heard hushed voices and footsteps slowly walking down a nearby aisle. Her eyes narrowed, putting away the TemPad safely as she listened to the footsteps. Two people. Moving to the end of the aisle silently, she kept to the shadows, peering round the corner of the shelving unit to see the familiar figure of a minuteman. Her jaw clenched, hands curling into fists as she watched from nearby.
However, when the second figure came into view, her breath caught in her throat.
"I think we got off on the wrong foot earlier-" Loki spoke lowly, peering at B-15 who was very intently staring ahead, keeping her mind on the task.
"Shh!" B-15 hissed at Loki, timestick in her grip. Loki blinked at the woman, brows furrowing.
"Well, hang on- I was trying to make-" Loki tried once more, only for the woman to send a glare his way, once more shushing him, irritation evident in her face. Loki let out a slow breath, pursing his lips about to open his mouth once more, but a noise nearby stopped them in their tracks. Loki's head turned towards the direction of the noise, brows twitching as he instantly became alert.
Shit.
She pushed herself back behind the aisle, staying out of sight as Loki's head snapped towards her direction. She tried to calm her racing heart, breaths coming out quick and shallow.
How can he be here? This wasn't in the plan. This wasn't- I hadn't even accounted for... this.
Letting her back rest against the shelving unit, her mind raced. What would she do now? She couldn't... She couldn't just stop her plans. She had to finish this. Finish what the TVA had started. This changed nothing. Although, even as her mind told her that, her heart said otherwise. This changed everything.
No. Do what you have to.
B-15 shared a look with Loki, before the God held up a hand, signalling for her to wait as he took a few cautious steps forwards. His sharp blue eyes scanned the area, looking for any sign of someone, keeping his steps quiet and light, ready to defend them at any moment if needed.
"I know you're here." Loki called out, keeping his voice low and smooth, not wanting to scare off whoever was hiding from them.
Patience is key.
When silent met them, Loki narrowed his eyes slightly, before continuing. "They think you're connected to me."
Perhaps this will get them to show themselves.
"So tell me..." Loki paused, raising a curious brow, sending a quick glance B-15's direction. "Are they right?" He paused, a few more beats of silence passing. He let out a quiet sigh. "From my timeline... Past, present or future?" He took another slow step forwards, stepping under a flickering light. "I do really hate not knowing."
"This is getting us nowhere-" B-15 muttered under her breath, moving to take a few steps forwards, brushing past Loki as she headed towards where the sound had come from, activating her timestick as Loki went to protest, holding a hand out to try and stop her. But to his surprise, the woman was met with a blast of violet energy, flying backwards to crash into a shelving unit a few feet away, timestick clattering to the floor. Loki's eyes widened, as he quickly snapped his head towards where the blast had come from, summoning his own magic as his hands glowed emerald.
B-15 fell to the floor, unconscious, as Loki wasted no time in stalking towards the aisle that the violet blast had come from, fingers crackling with magic. However, as he approached, he was swiftly met with a blast of his own, flying backwards as his back hit the store floor, sliding a few feet before coming to a stop. His face scrunched in pain from the impact, letting out a sharp breath as he lifted his head. But as soon as he did, he was met with a cold blade at his throat, a weight on top of him as his eyes widened.
He took in whoever was holding him down, slowly raising his hands in surrender, magic dissipating from his fingers. His eyes scanned the woman above him, taking in her narrowed brown eyes. From what he could see in the flickering lights, she was young, appeared mortal, maybe around the age of thirty at most if he had to take a guess. Long raven hair framed her face, slightly mussed, errant strands on her cheeks. She had faint dark circles under her eyes, lines in the corners from past smiles and laughs, and there was a sadness in her eyes, along with rage and something else as she looked down at him. She was pretty, he found. But also, someone he didn't recognise.
"Forgive me-" Loki began smoothly, letting out a quick breath. "It seems you've got me at a bit of a disadvantage." He raised his chin slightly, trying to put distance between him and the blade she held at his neck.
It really is him.
She looked down at Loki, keeping her eyes narrowed into a glare as she kept her blade at the skin of his neck. Her mind was in turmoil, heart racing in her chest. It was clear he didn't know her. So, he was from before they knew one another. The thought sent a pang of disappointment though her chest, but she kept her outward appearance hardened. As Loki spoke, she raised her own chin slightly, pursing her lips.
"What the hell are you doing?" She hissed out, voice low as her eyes flickered to the TVA emblem on his jacket. "So the TVA think that just because they bring you in that it'll stop me?" She huffed out a wry laugh, disbelief evident in her face as she shook her head. "They've got you playing the loyal lapdog?"
She watched as Loki bristled slightly at her words, brows creasing as he narrowed his eyes. "I think you'll find I'm only loyal to myself." He quipped in return, making the woman roll her eyes.
"Of course you are." She muttered as Loki blinked up at her, sensing the exasperation in her tone.
"And I actually haven't come here to hand you over, in fact, I thought perhaps we could work together." Loki continued, as she looked down at him, watching his face closely. "It seems our goals align... Taking down the Time Keepers..." He paused. "Perhaps we could come to some arrangement." The woman let out a scoff at his words, removing her dagger from his neck as she pushed herself off of him, her hand pressing against his chest as he let out an 'oof' at the pressure.
"Why is it when you say 'taking down', I think what you actually mean is 'overthrow them' and 'take their throne'?" She asked, raising a brow as she gave him a knowing look.
He must be young. If he doesn't know who I am... And still is vying for a throne...
Loki watched as the woman pushed herself to her feet, blinking as he too pushed himself up, letting out a breath as he flipped his head back, hands by his sides. The look she gave him made him feel uneasy... Something about the knowing glint in her eye. The fact she knew his motivations without him even saying it... Unnerving to say the least.
"Am I really so predictable?" He asked wryly, smoothing back his hair.
"Yes." The woman answered without hesitation, Loki opening his mouth in faint offence, hands moving to rest on his hips. "Oh, don't give me that look- You've spent half your life trying to convince yourself you want a throne, why would it be any different now?" She continued, shaking her head.
Who... Who does she think she is?
"Uh, hang on just a minute-" Loki raised his hand, lifting a finger as if to make a point, but he was surprised as the woman simply turned on her heel, walking away from him. Loki blinked, hand moving palm up in a 'what is happening' gesture.
Okay... So someone from my future clearly.
"I'm not done yet!" Loki exclaimed after her, quickly moving to follow her as she walked down the flickering aisle. Loki reached out to grasp her shoulder to stop her movements, but she was quicker, swiftly grabbing his wrist as she ducked under his arm, once more bringing her dagger up to his neck, eyes narrowed fiercely.
"Stay out of my way." Her voice was low, warning evident in her tone. Loki's eyes twitched, narrowing faintly as her blade once more hovered near his neck.
"Tell me who you are." Loki demanded, holding her gaze. He wasn't afraid of her. Something told him she wouldn't actually hurt him. Maybe that was stupid to think, but there was something in her eyes when she looked at him that gave him pause. The woman seemed to take a moment, before leaning forwards slightly.
"I'm the woman who's going to burn the TVA to the ground." Her voice was full of conviction, certainty. Her eyes only backed up her sentiments as Loki tilted his head ever so slightly.
So, she doesn't want to take over... She wants to destroy it. Interesting.
"Whilst I applaud your confidence, I highly doubt you are capable of bringing a whole organisation to their knees on your own." Loki replied, a mocking smirk pulling at his lips. He watched in amusement as the woman seemingly bristled at his words, her grip on her blade faltering for a moment.
Ah, there it is. And Mobius was worried she could out do m-
Loki didn't get to finish his thought before he was flying backwards, the woman having used her boot to kick him in the gut, sending him tumbling back onto the floor once more. Loki let out a wheeze, coughing lightly, blinking harshly at the ceiling.
Well, I didn't expect that. She certainly has quite a kick on her, I'll give her that.
"Stay out of my way." The woman repeated once more, stalking off down the aisle again. "Idiot." Loki heard her huff under her breath, causing his brows to crease, hand moving to lay on his stomach, giving himself a moment to catch his breath.
Arrogant idiot.
The woman thought to herself with a shake of her head.
Clearly, very young. Maybe... New York young? If that's the case, god help us all.
She once more grabbed the TemPad from her holster, putting her dagger away, moving to the device she had waiting to set the reset charges off in tandem. Kneeling down, she began to set it up, placing the TemPad into the slot.
"Who are you!?" She heard Loki's voice echo down the aisle, glancing back to see him striding towards her, anger clear on his face that she had managed to best him twice, once without magic. She clenched her jaw, quickly activating the device as the reset charges began to light up around them on the shelves, causing Loki to pause in his steps, head snapping to look at a nearby reset charge. "So that's your plan? Blow the place up?" He almost scoffed. The woman rose to her feet, turning to face him as he stood a few metres away.
"No." She told him simply, causing him to look back at her. "It's called a distraction." Just as she said that, time doors opened under the reset charges, making them disappear through them as they went off throughout the sacred timeline, creating branches for the TVA to deal with. "Now, if you're quite done, I'm rather busy."
Loki kept his body tense, his eyes watching her closely when she reached to grab the TemPad, taking a few steps to the side as she fiddled with the device. "You know me." Loki said lowly, unable to hide the curiosity from his voice, a time door opening before the woman.
"No, I know the future you." She replied coolly, looking up at him with an arched brow. Loki let out an exasperated sigh at her smart quip.
God, she is vexing.
"Loki!" The God turned at his name being called, seeing Mobius rushing down from the other side of the store, minutemen in tow. Loki pursed his lips, glancing back at the woman, torn between what to do. The woman simply lifted her hand, giving a mocking wave before stepping through the time door, out of sight. "Loki, wait!" Mobius exclaimed.
I don't trust her. But I also don't trust the TVA...
Loki clenched his fists in frustration, his plan to work with the variant clearly out the window now. All he could do... Was follow her. Get answers. And maybe... Use her to get to the Time Keepers himself. Without wasting another moment, Loki took long strides towards the time door, stepping through as it snapped shut behind him, leaving behind Mobius and the others.
Time for answers.

what color do you associate with your muse?
is there a song that reminds you of your muse?
how do you get yourself out of a writing funk?
do you have any advice for other writers?
would you hug your muse?
how are you and your muse alike?
how are you and your muse different?
do you follow canon, or dump it in the trash?
best scene featuring your muse? (chapter, film, episode)
1-4 answered here!!
5. Would you hug your muse?
In a goddamn heartbeat actually. Doc is absolutely the kind of supportive, awesome adult figure I wish I could've had growing up and he's one hell of a friend on top of it all.
6. How are you and your muse alike?
We're both very animated. When I'm with my friends and especially when I'm getting into something, you'll find me moving/hopping around, gesturing wildly with my hands, just absolutely full of energy. I'm not nearly as into science as Doc is, but I do enjoy and appreciate it a lot and there's a part of me that wishes I went into some kind of engineering.
We're also both good at fixing cars, albeit to varying degrees.
We're both the ones typically considered weird amongst others.
7. How are you and your muse different?
Oh in so many ways. The obvious being I do not have a doctorate but I do have a law degree haha.
For one, Doc's far more comfortable in his skin than I ever will be and I kind of envy Doc his confidence in that regard; I've never had that and who knows if I will.
You'll be hard-pressed to ever get Doc on a motorcycle and I'm over here dreaming about the second one I want to buy myself.
Doc's also far more optimistic about things than I am. I've got more of a realistic approach to things and also lean far more heavily into morbid jokes and joke about how if I live to forty, I'll already have exceeded my personal life expectancy. Some of these jokes are rooted in reality, because again, I ride a motorcycle, I like to do a lot of things considered dangerous, and you just never know what's going to happen on any given day. I've well outgrown my youthful phase of I'm invincible! and sometimes you just gotta make jokes about things to get through the days.
Doc would also probably faint if he heard how much I curse on the regular tbh.
8. Do you follow canon or dump it in the trash?
I follow film canon for the most part! I've got my gripes about pt2, of course, but 1 & 3 are solid films and I adore them with my whole heart and 1985A is one of my favourite underexplored timelines; I want to do way more with that, short-lived as their time there was. Then again, I suppose they were there for probably ~12 hours, despite Marty being unconscious for 9 of them but hey.
Everything else outside of the films, really, I pick and choose from at will to use as inspiration. Nothing in the comics or game for example I consider having happened in Doc's canon proper, maybe save for the comics with Doc & the family with the Time Train during that time before they get back to Doc's present to settle down. I do love some of those adventures the family get up to and they've definitely had some of their fun.
The games/comics otherwise, though, I consider more of a, this could be an alternate reality so I'm not going to completely discard it, but the events won't be referenced here, certainly not in the same way.
9. Best scene featuring your muse? (chapter, film, episode)
Another really amazing Doc scene is from pt2 again and it's the the scene where Doc inadvertently does exactly what he'd been cautioning Marty against since they arrived back in 1955 to track down Biff—he meets his younger counterpart in Courthouse Square rigging up the cable for the lightning strike.
That scene to me is just incredible, not because you can see the small differences behaviour-wise between his younger and elder(current) self or even because it's so interesting hearing the way Doc talks to himself, but because of the way you can see all of Doc's reactions so clearly written on his present-self's face. The wonder and amazement at seeing this from a different perspective, free of any time constraints and worries. Doc knows how this is going to all play out, of course, so seeing his work now is fascinating.
I'm sure he's thinking of all the other better ways he could've done it/things he should have done that evening to save him a heart attack or two. Hindsight's 20/20.
I also love that this cements what a fantastic memory Doc has. This moment, for him, happened thirty years ago. For Marty, it was, what, two days ago? But Doc remembers. Vividly. To the point where his younger counterpart asks for the 5/8 wrench and Doc immediately makes that face and goes 5/8? Don't you mean 3/4?
And it's the fact that you see Doc's expressions change from awed to surprised to uncertain, to a little more confident, and there's even this, to me, moment of realisation. Now maybe isn't the time to think about it—he'll have plenty of time in 1885—but he met his temporal counterpart and the fabric of reality didn't unfold just because of their meeting.
Doc's the first one of them to meet his other self, iirc, and idk I just really really love that scene.

6, 10, 11, 12, 18, 27 and 34 domestic-ish asks for johnjess because we want them to stop bothering those nice folks
thank you mari i wish i could say no nice folks were bothered in the making of this post but well.
Tumblr media
6. Any tasks that are always left to one person?
not really, actually, save for the things that are strictly individual hobbies (airplane maintenance, woodworking, corpse decoration, etc.) and even those will be observed and heavily commented on by the nonparticipating party, so there’s always some mutual involvement. there are plenty of tasks that tend to fall to one person far more often, but nothing that’s exclusive. but jessie tends to distrust john’s design instincts enough that she’s something of a control freak over any decorating matter once they’ve established a household together and claims exclusive dominion, but in practice she rarely actually shuts him out of decisions. and there are many tasks that almost always fall to john just because the hassle of reminding jessie is usually not worth the effort of doing it himself, the small things that pile up like taking dishes to the sink, putting laundry in the hamper, etc.
10. Who drives? Cooks? Does the handiwork? Cleans? Pays the bills? Handles the public?
drives: a fairly even split, decent amount of trade off for drives of any significant length.
cooks: also evenly divided but in stages, john tends to do recipe planning, grocery shopping, preparation, and beginning cooking stages, and jessie comes in to salvage and do the heavy lifting cooking wise. john has more initiative, jessie has more practical skill.
handiwork: jessie tends to do it more often, save anything on john’s airplane and (in any universe without the collapse where such things would still exist in regularity) any appliances she deems “pretentious” and “rich people bullshit.” (look, it’s not that she can’t fix it or it’s too complicated to fix, she can do it, she just refuses on principle. really.) but also he’s not allowed to call a handyman to fix it because that would hurt her pride, she’s the dad in home depot who thinks the world is going to implode if he asks anybody for help. usual outcome is john just buying a new one of whatever is broken, which also hurts jessie’s pride and is one of the few offenses that can actually result in her calling joseph to tattle and invoking a lecture about waste and consumerism.
bills: something of a non issue, either paid separately due to jessie’s insistence on maintaining the illusion of separate lives in no reaping universes or non-existent due to societal collapse. john arrested au (the one where she’s not a true crime novelist) i guess jessie manages the collective finances during the approximately eight months john is in actual prison instead of on house arrest, but mostly with what’s left of his money.
public: handled with mixed results by john. (with the exception, i suppose, of the no collapse au — the one where she is a true crime novelist. then it’s both their purviews.)
11. Do they celebrate holidays? Anniversaries?
they do, although they certainly pick and choose favorites among them. but jessie’s demand everyone respect the world’s most special birthday boy has in fact been noted. anniversaries are harder to track (what to celebrate? first coerced dinner date for fuel supplies? first time rawing in an alley?) and jessie is a bit prickly about the matter anyways, so harder to get off the ground, but perhaps a smaller celebration someday.
12. Is there a wedding? What was the proposal like? Any kind of honeymoon?
yes, eventually, in their main timeline, a fairly private affair. i don’t want to give away too much slash there are things i haven’t decided for sure yet, but proposal and wedding occur at a familiar wildfire locations, long after story events (and not included in story proper). mary may’s obviously invited.
18. What are their dates like? How long do/did they date? Do they ever feel the need to take a break from each other?
miserable for everyone but them, and also often for them. especially in the early stages dates tend to be, well, not really “dates” so much as elaborate excuses to be in each other’s presence so they can argue, have sex, or just generally pay obsessive attention to each other. and the transition to proper dates is also originally less planned outings (or them being in an official “oh we’re dating” stage at all, for that matter) and more either john tagging along on one of jessie’s excursions (and to be fair, after she announces her plans knowing damn well he will throw a fit or otherwise find a way to follow) or john goading jessie into participating in activities he enjoys. when they do start going on proper dates, they tend to stick with the same theme of just roping each other into their individual hobbies, but they come closer to finding middle ground and compromise in their activities — more things like taking the boat out along the river or flying john’s plane out somewhere remote for the weekend for a backpacking trip jessie planned out. (i cannot stress the amount of negotiation this takes, particularly getting jessie in a plane.)
27. Do they have kids? Grow old together? Split up?
they do have kiddos, despite being against the idea initially they agree to watch two recently orphaned kids for what is supposed to be a temporary period but get too attached to let them go and adopt them. a bit down the line, they conceive two more. they do stick it out as a couple/family for their lifetimes in spite of themselves, which much to everyone’s disappointment are decently long. and while they have what could loosely be called “on again, off again” it’s frankly closer to “what the fuck were you talking about, we were never really together in the first place, obviously” and once they’ve reached a point they’re both actually on the same page at the same time that they are, in fact, in a committed relationship, they’re fairly joined at the hip without any splits. (i mean, they’re like that anyways but they’ll have their little temper tantrum storm offs.)
34. Do they have any pets?
nope, none that i’ve given them so far, save the taxidermy. although i wouldn’t discount one of the future brats bringing home one eventually.

BUNGO STRAY DOGS DEAD APPLE FULL
BUNGO STRAY DOGS DEAD APPLE SERIES
Additionally, there were a few noticeable typos. However, in-house, it is odd that elements, such as Chuuya’s trigger phrase for his ability, differ from the novel and manga.
BUNGO STRAY DOGS DEAD APPLE SERIES
Translation is hard, especially with a series that references literary works that have been localized in numerous ways previously. A different company, of course, localizes the anime, but both the manga and novels are published by Yen Press. Bungo Stray Dogs is a multimedia franchise. The other frustration with this novel is consistency. The lines are bold, dark, and scratchy, in contrast to Harukawa’s usually thin, slick linework. Ganjii’s illustrations are good, although not as detailed as Harukawa’s. Presentation-wise, the Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple novel includes a double-sided pullout featuring the key artwork used for the film. More so, since the timeline placement of the novel is after the conflict with The Guild, where Atsushi and Kyoka already had major character arcs about self-acceptance. Ultimately, the plot’s overall messages of trauma and self-acceptance aren’t given enough time to grow with the characters and feel rather forced. This helps ease some of the frustration with his character. The Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple light novel also expands more on Atsushi’s past trauma with Shibusawa. It spends a little more time with the antagonists, giving a bit more context to their motivations and goals. The novelization certainly improves on the film’s convoluted plot. Wires get crossed in the details, causing the big picture to collapse under its own weight. These are fun, and ultimately Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple is more enjoyable looking at its individual parts, rather than their sum. Even Dame Agatha Christie, elusive in the manga, makes a brief appearance. It is nice to see Oda again, with a brief flashback to the Dragon’s Head Conflict during Dazai’s mafia days. There are multiple character cameos, and some work better than others. It crams a lot into just under 200 pages. The novel follows the film pretty closely, with only a few minor deviations and expansions to improve clarity. Behind the scenes, Dazai is once again pulling the strings, this time alongside Fyodor Dostoevsky, and he may have finally betrayed the detective agency. Separated from their teammates in a thick fog that covers the city, Atsushi and Kyoka must team up with former enemy Akutagawa of the Port Mafia. Matt Rutsohn translates it into English.Ī series of unexplained suicides by skill users prompt the Armed Detective Agency to track down a mysterious man by the name of Tatsuhiko Shibusawa. This novel is written by Hiro Iwahata, with illustrations by Ganjii, based on the original story from Bungo Stray Dogs DA Partners. Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple is the first light novel to not be written directly by Asagiri, who instead supervised. The light novel series features standalone stories by Asagiri.
BUNGO STRAY DOGS DEAD APPLE FULL
The series started as a manga by Kafka Asagiri with art by Sango Harukawa, but soon expanded into a full multimedia franchise, widening the canon. The majority of the characters in the series are inspired (and named after) real life literary figures, and references abound. Bungo Stray Dogs centers around the Armed Detective Agency, a fictional group of “skill users” in Yokohama who take on cases. It has been a couple of years since the Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple anime-original film premiered, but the novelization of the story has just received an English release from Yen Press.

I just read someone’s theory that the track list makes more sense timeline wise if you listen backwards. And with a few exceptions, it kind of does.
Someone showed this theory to me last night and while I agree that there is certainly an emphasis on backwards in the album in places (and the promo) I just can't make this work. I think it's more likely that the album isn't meant to be chronological.

So while Ocarina and Twilight are my absolute favourite Zelda games, I'm always going to have a place in my heart for Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks because they're the first two Zeldas I ever played. My question is - do you think there'll ever be another installment of the Toon Link games? More adventures to be had? Or do you think that that particular story/timeline has run it's course narratively?
I certainly hope there'll be more Toon Link games. They're a lot of fun - Spirit Tracks is probably my favorite specifically-for-mobile Zelda game - and they've got a certain charm to them that makes them a great intro to the series type games. I also like that the Wind Waker leaves Ganondorf pretty firmly at the bottom of the ocean, leaving the stage open for other villains. While I like Ganondorf/Ganon - he's an iconic villain for the games - not using him leaves the games plots more open to new ideas and gameplay that Ganondorf/Ganon wouldn't lend well to. (BotW and TotK were both breathtaking and innovative games for the series, but Ganondorf/Ganon himself was fairly standard. Not a bad thing in games that departed from so much pre-established tradition, though. So definitely not a complaint.)
Timeline wise there's plenty of space for more adventures in Toon Hyrule and Demise's curse is still in play, so as long as Link & Zelda keep reincarnating there'll be some kind of evil in Toon land for them to fight. (And it amuses me that the cartoon styled, younger Links are found on the 'Adult' timeline while the 'Child' timeline gets Twilight Princess which was a darker, edgier vibe than Wind Waker/the toon games and had the older teen/young adult aged Link.)
Honestly, I figure as long as they don't retire the franchise there's space for a lot of very differently styled games in the series. And with how well Legend of Zelda games sell, I'm not too worried about the franchise being retired any time soon. The Toon games did really well on the DS/3DS/2DS systems before those systems were retired and considering that the Link's Awakening remake on the Switch had a very Toon Link look&feel to it and it's sold pretty well, I've really no doubt the Toon Link timeline will find it's way on to the Switch too. (Or the switch's successor depending on dev times.)

Where do I start when renovating a home?
Tumblr media
Where do I start when renovating a home?
Certainly, here's the information presented in a slightly different way:
Prioritize Your Renovations: Instead of rushing into renovations right after moving into a new home, it's wise to live in it for a few months. This allows you to better understand what requires attention. If you've been in your home for a while, start by focusing on the areas that need the most work. For instance, if your bathrooms are showing their age but still functional, and your kitchen desperately needs new appliances, begin with the kitchen. Living in your home provides valuable insights into what needs immediate attention.
Consult a Designer or Architect: Renovations can be a substantial investment of time and money, so getting things right from the beginning is crucial. Consider hiring an interior designer to help you choose the right materials for your project. If your renovation involves structural changes, such as adding or removing walls, it's a good idea to engage an architect to ensure the structural integrity and code compliance of your home. You can find experienced interior designers and architectural firms to assist you in this process.
Collaborate with a Contractor: When it comes to managing the practical aspects of your renovation, a contractor plays a pivotal role. Select a contractor with a good reputation and with whom you have good rapport. Collaborate with them to create a detailed list of required materials and set deadlines for decision-making. Establishing clear timelines is essential for keeping the renovation project on track. Your contractor will be your main point of contact throughout the renovation process.
These steps can help you approach your Home Renovation with a well-thought-out plan, ensuring a smoother and more successful project.

How the Undatebales React After A Fight
Thank you to my friendo @wholelottatiffy who helped me brainstorm this one. I’m only on chapter 19 at the moment, so I haven’t interacted with anyone but Diavolo much. And thank you to everyone who wanted a follow up to my previous post, I did not expect that. Y’all are super sweet!
tw: Fighting (a bit more in depth than my first post), description of panic attack, minor name calling, insecurity, depression, angst with resolution.
Diavolo:
Diavolo doesn’t know what to do with himself.
To start, we need to talk about how the argument unfolds.
He’s not used to arguing.
He’s Lord Diavolo, Prince of The Devildom, head of the RAD student council. No one defys him on anything.
So you raising your voice at him, trying to get him to see your way,
It was very overwhelming.
He tried to reason calmly with you at first, but he felt cornered.
When fight or flight kicked in, his body chose fight.
His wings burst open in all their glory as he screamed back, his towering frame far more intimidating than yours.
The blind rage is slapped out of him when he sees your terrified face.
If you’re at the castle, he’ll order you to leave if you haven’t already. Anywhere else, he’ll turn and leave without a word.
He wants to put distance between you both for fear of making things worse.
He absolutely cannot believe he just blew up at you. He would have never thought he'd raise his voice at his partner regardless of the situation.
He can’t shake the image of you flinching from him from his mind.
Now, being the prince of hell certainty has it’s perks; He has power, influence, and everything he could want.
But the one thing he wants the most seems to evade him no matter what: a friend.
A real friend.
He has Barbatos and Lucifer, but it’s Barbatos’ job to accompany the prince, and Lucifer is bound to Diavolo whether he likes the future king or not.
MC was the first person who chooses to be with and around him for no other reason than the fact that they love him.
And now he’s terrified them. Gotten in their face and screamed at them.
He assumes he’s permanently driven you away.
As soon as you leave or he gets home, he rushes to find Barbatos. To explain what happened and hope his butler would know what to do.
He’ll text Lucifer and ask him to check on you as well.
He just feels lost.
He wanders the palace aimlessly and he can’t focus on his work without his thoughts drifting to you.
He doesn’t feel like going to school or even getting out of bed. He doesn’t want to speak to anyone - to put on a happy face and pretend his world isn’t shaking.
Yet, a prince has his responsibilities. He will go about his normal public appearances as usual, smile and laugh and carry on, but it’s a mask.
Those close to him clearly notice the prince isn’t himself.
After school he visits the spots that you two visit together frequently.
Anything to make him feel as if you are still at his side.
If you don’t sleep in his bed that night, he’ll take it as proof that he was right and that you don’t want to be with him anymore.
He doesn’t sleep that night. He clutches your pillow that still smells of you and just bawls.
He will tell Barbatos he feels unwell the next morning and to postpone his obligations for the day.
This prompts Barbatos to seek you out and see if he can help resolve the issue.
Barbatos tries to stay out of your relationship as he doesn't feel it's his business, but his job is to assist Diabolo in any way necessary. And right now, he needs you more than anything.
If you sleep at his side still, it will be a glimmer a hope. That all may not be lost.
He’ll give you you space that night. He’ll walk around you on eggshells but always watch you from the corner of his eye to gauge the temperature.
He avoids your gaze, stays on the other side of the room as you prepare for bed, and as much as it kills him, doesn’t hug you or kiss you goodnight.
He spends the night staring at your sleeping face and making silent promises that, if you forgive him, he will never let this happen again.
He thinks of how to apologize. What he could say, what he could do.
Ultimately though, it feels like everything he could think of is too little of an apology.
He pretends to be asleep when he sees you stir and decides to let you choose if you want to forgive him on your own.
You will have to approach him first.
He thinks losing his temper with you was unacceptable and feels like he has no right to ask for your forgiveness.
Worse, he’s terrified of not being given forgiveness.
Thus, I feel a fight with Diavolo will take as long as you let it. He’s willing to suffer as long as you need him to.
Barbatos:
Barbatos doesn’t argue. He sits quietly and watches you, his responses calm but absolute.
He’s no pushover, he will defend his side, but he’s not going to enter a screaming match. It’s just not him.
You know you’ve really gotten under his skin when he offers a tight, forcefully pleasant smile.
He finally shuts down the conflict with "It's your right to feel that way just as it's mine to disagree." And leave it at that.
Post argument, he will avoid you and lock his feelings about the fight inside.
He tells himself he doesn’t have time to deal with the terrible feeling clawing at his heart and takes to his duties as an escape.
If you sleep in another room, he realizes that this isn’t a minor disagreement and he’s suddenly very distressed.
His instinct is to use his future vision.
To scour the timelines and see how the different versions of himself handle it and to replicate the one with the most desirable outcome.
However, he stops himself. He feels it isn’t fair to you.
You have a right to be upset about things and he doesn’t want to manipulate the situation, and by extension, you.
Thus, he must find another way to cope.
He’s always a devoted butler, but it’s not his whole life.
He takes time for himself throughout the day and in the evenings. Unless Diavolo needs him, nights are usually his to do with as he wants.
Now, however, his identity becomes Diavolo’s butler.
He’s constantly asking for extra work and hovering more than usual around the young lord in hopes of being given a task.
Diavolo finds it odd and asks about it, but he brushes it off. This isn’t anyone else’s business, least of all his employer’s.
Even though Barbatos won’t tell him, Diavolo can clearly tell his friend is off.
In hopes of giving him something to distract himself with, Diavolo requests hellfire mushroom rolled cigar cookies and Barbatos jumps on the opportunity.
Baking has always been his escape as well as his happy place. Diavolo’s favorite isn’t easy to make, so he looked forward to the task.
And it worked. Keeping track of the ingredients, the steps, and the technique required was enough to occupy his mind.
But then it was time to wait for it to bake.
He suddenly feels trapped in the suffocating silence of the kitchen.
His mind replays the argument on repeat as he falls down a rabbit hole of what ifs.
He loves you more than anything and the last thing he could ever want is for you to be mad at him.
No, the worst thing would to no longer be able to call you his.
Suddenly, he becomes aware of the sharp scent of burnt food.
He jumps up and runs to the oven. He’d been so lost in thought he hadn’t noticed the timer go off.
He pulls the blackened desert out, puts the cookie sheet on the stove top, and just stares at the burnt cookies.
His sight blurs and a soft sob escapes from the prison he’s created in his heart.
He wasn’t crying because he burnt the cookies, but because they were a visual representation of everything he’s been trying to suppress.
Once he collects himself, he knows he can’t continue like this.
He doesn’t want to invade your space in case you’re still mad, but he needs a resolution.
He’ll send a quick text and silently begs you to respond.
“MC, I understand if you are still upset with me, but would you be willing to talk though it? I look forward to hearing from you.”
If you still sleep with him that night, it is a great weight off of his shoulders.
He hopes it means that it will be easier to make up with you and that you aren’t too mad.
When you wake up, he will be watching you like he has all night with a small, tired smile.
He’ll put on your favorite tea as you get ready for the day then asks if you’d be willing to talk things over.
Because of how it affects both his job and himself, a fight with Barbados will not last long. He’ll seek a resolution by one, maybe two days tops.
Solomon:
Lucifer may be the avatar of pride, but Solomon can certainly give the demon a run for his money.
In the moment of a particularly heated argument, he absolutely will not admit he’s wrong.
In fact, he really doesn’t consider it a possibility.
There’s no point in trying to get him to see your side until things have calmed down. It’s like talking to a brick wall.
He won’t yell, but he gets a pissy, condescending tone and almost talks down to you.
If you really push his buttons, his patience with this “useless” argument runs out.
“Oh please, listen to yourself! You’re acting like a dull child!”
Freezes as soon as it leaves his mouth.
He didn’t mean to say that.
He opens his mouth to apologize immediately, but upon seeing your hurt reaction he becomes flustered and can’t get the words out.
He’ll simply turn and leave.
He’s absolutely furious with himself.
Solomon is old and wise. He’s seen many things, been many places, and he knows many things.
Sometimes though, he needs a reminder that he doesn’t know everything.
Even if he still feels he was right, he knows name-calling is unacceptable.
In fact, he doesn’t miss the irony that he was the one being childish.
His self-fury is replaced by overwhelming worry if you sleep in another room that night.
Of all the treasures he’s come across, none were as precious as you.
He can’t stand the thought of losing you because of his thoughtlessness.
For once, he feels like an idiot.
He locks himself in his study that night and brainstorms on how to make it up to you.
He decides to approach you in the morning at RAD. He’s terrified that you think he actually meant the insult and wants to clear the air as soon as possible.
He’s afraid of you taking anything less than his highest praise to heart or for you to think that he views you as below himself.
The thought of how he must have made you feel makes him sick to his stomach.
The more he thinks about it, the more his body demands that he act.
While he has many virtues, patience is not high on his list.
Assuming you returned to The House of Lamentation that night, he’ll text Asmo to explain what happened and asks if he’d let him in first thing in the morning.
Thus, when you leave to head for breakfast, be careful not to trip over your sorcerer who’s seated against the wall outside of your room.
He scrambles to his feet, his hair and clothes a mess and bags heavy under his eyes.
“MC! Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you. I just- *sighs* I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to say that. Would you be willing to discuss the matter again? The right way this time.”
If you do sleep with him, he’s at least relieved that you don’t seem like you plan to leave him.
Once again, however, he wants to clear the air as soon as he can.
You’ll both be sitting in silence as you get ready for bed. He’s clearly lost in thought, his eyes focused unblinking on his feet and any movements slow and disjointed.
He's not sure how to apologize, if it's too soon, and is afraid to make things worse if it's not an appropriate time.
However, seeing you move about the room he decides to risk it so he doesn't risk losing you.
Suddenly, he stands up straight and locks eyes with you.
“MC, we don’t have to talk about the fight tonight, but I need you to know that I didn’t mean what I said. I’m sorry.”
It’s up to you if you want to forgive him immediately, but he will at least apologize for the insult as soon as he gathers his thoughts.
Simeon:
If you yell at him, Simeon is just gonna sit there stunned
Your relationship is usually as laid back as he is, so he doesn't know what to do with you blowing up at him.
All he knows it that this is bad and he needs to find a way to make you happy again.
The thought of losing you takes precedence over everything and, though he will not sway to your side just because you’re upset, the argument loses any worth it had to him.
He’ll go to Solomon almost immediately in hopes your fellow human might know better about how arguments are resolved between human couples.
He becomes very distressed when Solomon says everyone handles it differently. He then asks what he should to make up with you specifically.
He doesn't have a defined emotion right now, he's just on edge. He wants to gather information first and foremost so he can figure out what to do from there.
He’s just a walking ball of anxiety and those close to the angel even become concerned. No one has seen him like this before.
If you decide to sleep in another room, the anxiety just takes over.
His chest feels like fiery chains are crushing his ribs, he can hear his heart is hammering in his head, and his body begins to shake as if he were buried in an avalanche.
He doesn’t realize he’s crying as he struggles to breathe.
Solomon had expected something like this may happen so he made sure to be nearby to help coach him though it.
Once he’s calmed down, Solomon urges him to talk to you as soon as possible.
Simeon isn't sure though. True, he wasn't in a good place, but he didn't want to push you if you weren't ready to talk.
He doesn’t know what to do. He doesn’t feel like he can think let alone coherently tell you how he feels.
He begins to feel overwhelmed again and decides to try writing down his thoughts in hopes of it helping him sort through the tsunami of emotions consuming him.
While it doesn't completely calm him down, it does help.
He stares down at the messy, tear blotted papee and has an idea.
The next morning you should expect to find a hand-written letter slipped under you door.
The letter is long and and rambling. His usually pristine handwriting is as shaky as his hands were when writing it.
It's not as dense and heartbroken as his original one, but the further it goes the more desperate his words become.
He writes about how much you mean to him and apologizes for allowing things to get that intense. He writes that he loves you and doesn’t want to lose you.
He reminisces about his favorite memories of you two together more than once.
Finally, that no disagreement you two could ever have is more importantly to him than being with you.
It's really just a collection of everything sitting on his heart at the moment.
That day at RAD he’ll watch you from the sidelines and pray you approach him about the letter so you two can work things out.
If you still sleep in his bed, he’ll be very conflicted about if he should approach you yet.
He’s afraid of making it worse if you’re still mad.
However, Simeon is an open book when it comes to his emotions so you will absolutely be able to tell that he’s freaking out.
So please, save the man a terrible night and talk it though with him.
He wants you to not be angry anymore, but even if you’re still upset just having concrete information to cling to will help him immensely.
He’s thinking of all the worst case scenarios and needs reassurance that the relationship isn’t over.
Simeon will try to make up within a day, so however long it lasts after that is up to you.
Luke (MC is his best friend):
Luke will be very, very distressed.
You’re his best friend aside from Simeon. Friends don’t fight like this, right?
Wait, so if you’re fighting with him, does that mean you’re not his friend anymore???
As soon as the thought enters his mind, he decides that must be the case.
Real friends don’t fight with each other like this.
Externally he takes a “I don’t need a lousy human like you for a friend anyway” attitude.
He’s not just testy with you though, anyone who interacts with him that day learns that chihuahuas bite.
Simeon immediately realizes something isn’t right and is very concerned.
As soon as he asks him what’s wrong, Luke's mask of anger is discarded and he tosses himself in the older angel’s arms crying hysterically.
He doesn’t want to lose you for a friend.
I doubt Luke has ever truly argued with someone so this uncharted territory is earth shattering to him.
Simeon, as he tries to calm Luke, he will text you and ask you to come to wherever they are immediately.
Because of Simeon’s intervention, the fight will only go undiscussed for a few hours max.
Again, sorry if I don’t know these characters as well as I’d like yet. Thank you for reading!
