Fluff headcannons for Wally
A/n: I didn't know what to title this but I wanted to write more for the muppet man and I haven't gotten anymore requests for him so I just made some silly hc's let me know if you guys want more, because I'm kinda obsessed this series right now
Pairing: Wally Darling and Gn Reader (Romantic, fluff)
First things first, Wally is absolutely obsessed with you, in every possible way
Even before you had become apart of their happy little community, Wally had his sights set on you, you were just a bright warm person, you’d be a wonderful addition to their colorful neighborhood
But when do you actually become a part of the town? Oh boy, Wally is ecstatic though he doesn’t show it, he still shows his bright friendly demeanor he keeps his unhinged excitement on the inside for the most part
When you arrive don’t expect to get to talk anyone else as much as you talk to Wally he’s pretty much your own personal tour guide
Which you are grateful for, but you couldn't help but feel a little bit isolated with only Wally to talk to, of course if you express this concern Wally would apologize for overstepping any boundaries he might have crossed with you, which made you feel a tad bit guilty, but Wally seemed fine enough so you supposed it was okay
Even with Wally letting you interact with others in the town and explore on your own you still felt yourself talking with Wally the most out of everyone, you felt he also had a soft spot for you, or least that's what it seemed like, but you could just be overthinking
However over time you felt like you and Wally had grown awfully close, even closer than he and Barnabey were and that was saying something
Wally would never be the one to confess to you, I don't know I just see him being too incredibly smug for that, he’d act like he had no idea you felt this way and that he adores you a totally normal amount as well!
Though he’s definitely been hooked on you from day one
No matter how you confess he’ll accept your feelings, I mean obviously
When you're with Wally it seems like he's even more clingy than before, anywhere you want to go? Wally's right there with you!
Loves to show you affection through gifts and touch, especially touch, he’s practically attached at your hip at all times
Loves to kiss you on the nose, but if you do it back? He’s over the moon!
Smothers you in affection, won't stop cooing about how cute you are
When your out on the town Wally will cling to your arm like a scared little kid, he’s perfectly fine he just likes being close to you and was probably like that even when you first got here
Wally loves to bake you things, pastries and sweets are his speciality, he loves to make pies especially
Whenever its cold Wally will snuggle closer to you and hold onto you like a koala
He’ll make you little things like friendship bracelets for you to wear, so now you have a surplus collection of them
Though Wally seems to be his charming, nonchalant, friendly self when he's around you and the others, he’ll never show you the dark thoughts that swarm his mind
He just needs you to see him as the sweet, charismatic puppet everyone does

Wholesome I've got in spades!
Vox's sharks were gifts from Velvette and Valentino, that's why there's 2 of them, neither of them were willing to let the other have the credit for it knowing how much Vox loves sharks so they compromised and each gave him one
Vox always gives the others the best model of whatever tech they have (phones, tablets, laptops, etc) even if there's nothing wrong with the one they currently have
Valentino will always use his wings as blankets for his smaller partners, and he lives under cat rules, if one of his partners has decided to sit with him or lay on him he is now unable to move until they do first. (he's canceled entire filming sessions because Velvette fell asleep on him)
Velvette has a secret stash of candid pictures of the other vees, them acting stupid, mid-bite of their food, making goofy faces at each other, etc, but these pictures would never make it to social media, it doesn't fit their perfect brand, so she keeps them to herself, feels more special that way.
Vox always has to be in the middle when it's communal snuggle time, he's mostly unaware of the competitions that Val and Vel do to get the "better side" but he does have his suspicions. He does love being between them tho. It's comfortable and he feels very loved which is sometimes needed to get his insecurities to shut up for a few hours.
Vox has a weighted dinosaur stuffed animal Valentino gave him he laughed at it when it was given to him, but it sits on his desk now. Most of those who get to see his office are smart enough not to comment on it. Those who were stupid enough to mock it never left the office, not in one piece anyway.
Velvette loves cottagecore not that the rest of hell knows it, but her floor has a whole room dedicated to it. The boys will gift her little mushroom or flower shaped things to add to the room. (She has rooms for multiple aesthetics but only her boys know about the cottagecore one)
Valentino's antenna are very sensitive, he ONLY lets Vel and Vox play with them, and only when they're alone and done with work for the day, it's not an inappropriate type of sensitive (he kinda wishes it was sometimes) more of a very flustered and blushy kind of sensitive.
Vox's favourite thing are things that glow (as a result he really likes the avatar movies because of all the glowy shit), Val and Velvette will bring him almost anything glowy they find as a gift, he mockingly calls them penguins for giving him shiny rocks to which they will always shoot back that he's the penguin who accepts said shiny rocks.
Velvette wears a bracelet that each of her boys made for her, Valentino's is a simple braided friendship bracelet style in her favourite colours, while Vox's is an elegant silver bangle with her birthstone hanging from it.

I feel like this is gonna be hard to do as a lot of the things I thought of bounced off of your ideas lol,, sorry if i accidentally stole ur ideas... anyway heres my thoughts on a nalu kpop au (its gonna be a LONG post i have a LOT of thoughts my baddd):
Well first of all I make a pinterest board for most of the aus I think of, just for a general idea and aesthetic and heres the one i did for that !!
(sorry it may not be that great I just needed some stuff to visualize it lol)
-Honestly i'm indecisive and cannot decide if I would personally put them in a group or if they would be soloists. I do think Lucy would suit being a soloist and it has a lot of potential if she were, reasons like her being from a prestigious family could be interesting with lucy feeling isolated and lonely a lot.
-Following the last point, maybe a lot of people in the industry might not really feel the need to talk to her much or have pre-existing assumptions about her and how she would act.
-Natsu (also a popular idol in the industry) first interacts with Lucy at some award show and he knows of her and loves her songs and performances but in that moment he doesn't really connect the dots and realize it's her, but he knows that she feels familiar for some reason.
-They talk a little and Lucy is surprised as she doesn't speak to many people that aren't staff or management and forced promotional stuff. She's a little awkward and she tends to talk a lot and rant because of that and Natsu thinks she's kinda weird (but in a nice way). They're cut off from that and don't see each other for the rest of the evening.
-Natsu realizes it was Lucy a few days later and no one believes that talked with her.
-They become close friends after being tasked to do a collab stage performance together.
-They practice a LOT, of course because they are hard workers but also because they enjoy spending time together and spending time together outside of work would cause rumors.
-The pure tension they have while practicing some of the moves for the performance.
-Natsu getting hit on the head of how attractive Lucy is after they go all out in one of their final practice sessions when shes sweaty, hair completely sticking out everywhere and wearing comfy baggy clothes which she wore for the purpose of
practicing. (and also vice versa for Lucy)
-Natsu and Lucy looking hot (and cute) as fuck on a magazine cover photoshoot together.
-And alternatively, Natsu or Lucy looking hot as fuck for a solo magazine photoshoot and the other seeing it and having their own crisis.
-After the collab stage they aren't able to hang out or meet, even though Natsu has tried to on his on accord but his management has to make sure he doesn't, and although Lucy also misses hanging out with him she doesn't want any rumors to circulate and Natsu makes it his mission to try and find her at any event she might also be attending.
-They text and call a lot. Natsu often gets teased by others because of how much he smiles and laughs while texting Lucy.
-Natsu sends Lucy pictures of ANYTHING that has her on it in public. (posters, magazines, billboards etc etc)
-Natsu and Lucy start to hang out again after Lucy accidentally gets a little tipsy at some event and it's a casual event so Natsu is able to be the one to take Lucy home.
-Then starts the secret meetups, them dressing up in disguises and heavy clothing to even travel to somewhere private like each others home.
-Natsu has the most HIDEOUS disguises btw and Lucy tries to act peeved but she can't help but smile at the silly disguises.
-Lucy attends one of his tour concerts, she wears a bright ribbon in her hair she knows he's seen her wear before hoping he might see her in the audience. He texts her excitedly after the concert asking if she was really there.
-Natsu gifts Lucy matching friendship jewelry for her birthday (could be a necklace or bracelet but for this I like the idea of a necklace more) They both wear them 24/7.
-they hide it for a LONG time… like we're talking MONTHS and then they accidentally slip up and one day people find paparazzi pics of each where the matching jewelry is seen.
-Then they get CRAZY dating rumors like it is EVERYWHERE…
-Lucy is freakinggg the fuck out and Natsu just feels bad because Lucy is so anxious, he couldn't really care less about the public thinking Lucy is his gf but he does get it as rumors like this can damage a career and he knows that.
-They keep silent and carry on as though nothing happened and the rumors sort to die down after a while but theres still those odd few people who believe in it.
-Lucy doing a sexy cunty stage performance on a big big show, and Natsu is attending in the audience and someone slyly filmed his reaction where he is very visibly stunned and very confused about his feelings for her. It circulates social media a lot.
-Lucy sees this video but makes herself believe he isn't into her like that.
-Natsu acts completely indifferent to the video so people won't ask him about it.
-As much as most people would act like he doesn't know Lucy at all after the rumors, on tv shows he doesn't hesitate to sing or dance to her songs publicly.
-People notice how much Natsu and Lucy are very comfortable with each other, teasing and arguing endearingly with each other on a reality tv show.
-They start hanging out publicly without caring after this.
-Them writing lyrics about each other in songs, and Lucy is VERY angsty and poetic about it.
-Lucy getting drunk and asking Natsu "What would we be if we weren't this?"
-Natsu thinks she means career wise, and starts to think of what he would be if he wouldn't be an idol. She clarifies she meant them as in their relationship with each other. He can't answer.
-After that, it's a little awkward. Natsu doesn't know if she remembers. She does. But she doesn't dare act like she does.
-It gets a bit more crazy as they are asked to do another collab stage together after the success of the last one. They accept because, yknow, its like the best way for them to hang out privately without crazy disguises and the like.
-As if the last collab performance was bad enough without the choreography being an average dance this one is WAY WORSE. a lot more contact. a lot more closeness.
-The ending pose of the performance is Lucy laying on the floor and Natsu leaning over her.
-One day, they practice for HOURS straight trying to get it right and perfect the dance. After going all out, and in the ending pose Natsu is looking down at Lucy's messy hair and flushed face and her wide eyes. He kisses her.
-They ditch practicing for the evening and end up making out in the dance practice room for a while.
-Their new collab stage gets leaked when Lucy breaks her ankle and carries her down the street fast as FUCK where there's a really close hospital nearby. He feels bad as they have been practicing so much as an excuse to hangout with each other.
-They basically become "official" after that, but still try and keep it secret from the public. It kinda falls apart after pictures come out where Natsu clearly has a hastily wiped lipstick mark on his cheek and Lucy's neck is littered with hickeys.
-People connect the dots with Natsu and Lucy acting insufferable with each other in public, Natsu cheering his lungs out and supporting Lucy so loudly, and Lucy likewise but a little more restrained than him.
-Natsu once went viral for punching someone trying to get too close to Lucy.
-They never officially state they're together but they don't hide it as much after a while and then in the future one day it comes out that they're literally engaged.
-They have the cutest wedding pics ever and Lucy plays a song she wrote about him before they got together at their wedding.
-Then they're happily supporting each other's activities as a married couple, Natsu commenting and reposting everything Lucy posts and being very loud about her comebacks. Lucy is the same.
This is long as fuck and there's probably so many other things to say but this ended up basically being a whole as story instead of odd headcanons this probably makes ZERO sense. my bad. hope you enjoy anyway <3

This reference sheet has been in the makes for around 2 months or so now, it's honestly been really slow progress due to me starting my first ever job ontop of ADHD. I noticed that my ADHD symptoms have been worsening due to getting a job, and I currently do not have access to medication or anything of the sort. Regardless, this character is a love letter to myself; over the past year or so I have been trying to come to terms with who or what I am. I'm going to be honest, this really means accepting that there are some things that I cannot put a label on. I wrote Bigender on the reference because I think it comes close to describing what I experience, but I honestly could not write it down in a comprehensible way, nor could I do this with my sexuality, seeing how closely it ties to my autism, and how I navigate intimacy. Just have fun with it.
The past few months I have really developed a love for bovids, and I think that has been a very big step in accepting myself as well. People kinda look at a lot of them as dumb or unassuming or even dangerous, they are a little frightened and sometimes see them as gross or unsightly or dumb. I relate to this... they're big and gentle and cute to me though. And I think that I am similar to this. I feel like a cow a lot, or maybe a deer, or goat, or sheep... I don't know too much about them just yet, but I admire them so much. Please follow @bovineblogger SO many great posts. And while you are at it...please follow my close friends... @angelkids @thathandsomeangel @dragonboness. They have been here with me for maybe 6 years now as my best friends. They have watched me explore, and they have supported me for so long. It's mentioned in the ID, but the friendship bracelets my fursona is wearing are all based off of them. They are the greatest.
I'd also like to mention that my sona would always have to be a mixture of animals. I feel like a lot of animals, personally, and though I don't use labels like therian or otherkin much, I feel like understanding those experiences would help anyone understand a little more how I feel about bovids, dragons, birds, etcetera. I hope that if you took the time to read this, you understand how much this process meant to me. I have been trying my best to understand the world around me and myself in turn, and I hope that you can as well. The best way to fight fear is with your undying curiosity. It pays off so well. Please, explore the wonderful world...and explore yourself as well. Maybe some things will always remain a mystery...but when you are always curious, it becomes easier to accept the unknown, and not to discredit it.

omggg that made me think of something else that kinda gets me with these sorts of timeline reset things, i dont wanna ramble too much but theres this fangame i played for jojo that kinda has that sort of thing going on and it made me think of it aaaa (also i need to read those webtoons now im really interested sdflkjdsfklj)
so like while i was also imagining that cove wasnt really able to remember much about the previous timeline after the reset, i thought well, what if there was something left behind from it and cove didnt know or understand what it was until after meeting the og mc in the new timeline like after the whole wedding thing
like maybe in the og timeline cove and mc had made friendship bracelets or something when they were little and had a matching set (or maybe its the matching friendship shells you can have with cove if you decide to hang out on the beach with him instead of surfing in step 2 aaaa) in the new timeline cove wakes up with that in his hand the morning before him and his dad are taking the drive to sunset bird. he doesnt know what it is and is confused by it, maybe he just shoves it in his pocket or it ends up in a box and he just eventually forgets about it
he doesnt remember the bracelet/the shells in the blurry dreams he had about the original mc or anything and he only remembers it when he sees the matching one that mc has like on their desk or just resting on a table or maybe even theyre wearing it if its the bracelet and it just makes things click even more and the feelings just like hit him like a truck

i imagine mc 1 and 2 are polar opposites. whereas mc!1 is more selfish/is the leader (think like ol2 mechanics n how they have the relationship status system/whatever yk?), mc!2 can still be a leader ofc, but theyre more selfless or at least always reaching out for cove
mc!1 is always searching for something else, somewhere else, someone else.
whereas mc!2 always turns around and waits for cove, goes to cove, brings cove with them. they always make a place for cove, where usually cove would make himself a place with mc!1
okay i swear imma write it, im like in a bit of a funk rn lol but i was thinking mc!1 (who i will call jamie for the sake of it and mc!2 will just be mc), sees cove with MC while they're visiting his parents.
(also i think that if mom's take back jamie, cliff would go out of his way to visit you guys/him instead so that way cove won't hurt. i imagine he might even move bc it hurts him as well ANYWAY THATS OFF TRACK THO)
and they end up talking somehow, maybe ending up on poppy hill at the right time (as much as it hurts bc poppy hill+white poppies would be ruined for cove after this, i think it'd bring him closure n he could get over it)
and i really would like to tell you jamie has regret. i thought they did n i would've written it like so, with jamie having a bit of longing for cove since they see him shining so brightly now that things have happened like this
i would also say that they love baxter still out of obligation because they ruined their life for him, i would also say that they could end up divorcing bc jamie longs for cove/their life before, but to that i offer: baxter staying and ignoring their yearning because this is all he thinks he can ever have...
BUT NOW. WHAT I AM VERY SWAYED TO WRITE INSTEAD BC !!!!
jamie isn't guilty. they love baxter so much, the only shame and guilt they have is for involving cove because now their family is distant and jamie hates that.
not just because they miss their family, in fact i imagine jamie would even tell someone they're overreacting, that they need to get out of their business, etc.. but they regret it because they can't give baxter a happy family, and they see how baxter regrets it so and will even express it bc he didn't want you no/low contact with your family, especially your lovely parents and sister, like he is.
jamie has enough humility to admit that they wish they didn't hurt cove, because he's such a good guy and he deserves better. but now he's happy, so they have no regrets.
i think jamie being this selfish would Kill cove. bc how could they say that?
whereas jamie being guilty would make him sad, but its basically entirely pity for jamie. because they went through all that and they still want more, they want something else after everything they did?
cove would be so upset bc he was just a placeholder until they got what they wanted every time, slipping off jamie's list of important/treasured people with every day that went by growing up...
n he'd go cry to MC, distraught by the cruelty, but glad he didn't marry jamie in the end and he doesn't go into a funk afterwards, he's moved on and the coldness from jamie just helps him move on from everything

I'm so grateful for this community, for the amount of nice people there are here and how accepting everyone is, but I've got to say, there's one thing I'm most grateful of.
This is just a long emotional rant so skip this if you wish, but I need to let it out my chest.
I've been going through a bad depressive episode; so much so that I even started taking meds for it. It started getting a little better, the meds were finally working a little and that's when I encountered Smosh.
I didn't imagine I'd ever fall this deep. I've had hypergixations before, dozens, but never in this way, and I didn't imagine it'd be about them. It was a complete accident, me stumbling on the we bought smosh video and just being curious.
Not for the first time, this new hyperfixations on two grown men with an adorable friendship made me want to write because everything is gay and that's because I decided so. Therefore, as I often do, I started writing a little on this new hyperfixation. Usually, I just end up giving up or writing a few fics before going back to my two other main fandoms (monsta x and bts, for those wondering). However, I decided that I needed help and a better opinion; I scrolled through the ianthony tag and fell on @lilac-hecox 's blog. She wasn't the first one I saw, but the one I felt compelled to write to, so I did. And I assumed she'd either blow me off or we'd just end up talking a bit before never talking again as this usually happens.
I wasn't ready to meet someone so fantastic and someone who I would very quickly deeply care about. I'm someone who hates texting consistently, who ends up panicking after a few days of thinking I got this and am socially capable because my social anxiety takes the reign. And yet, we started talking every day, of wayyyy more than just fics. And I found in her the kindest of soul, the most loving and funniest one. Someone who's not only amazing, but also, loves just like I do. And I don't mean romantically, I have a bf for that, but I mean someone who isn't afraid to be open and vulnerable if it means I also get to be with her. I'm someone like Ian usually, someone who looks anthipathic and who is a bit more stoic than most people, but with her, it's different. I laugh all the time and she's someone who literally heard me cry and comforted me while I did so. Which is a fucking miracle because I very rarely cry and hate showing the most vulnerable parts of me.
But she's always there, everyday, to make me laugh and talk. She's one of the kindest, most generous person I've ever met. She sent me a fucking box full of little things and American chocolate (I'm canadian) because I've said once I wanted to try. She bought us matching bracelets, one that I wear all the time and never take off. Hell, I'm getting a tattoo referencing her in two weeks.
And this is kinda crazy because we only started talking in August, but this feels right. I feel like I've known her all my life. And really, I say this in the most platonic of ways, but she truly is like my soulmate. She's one of the most talented writer I've ever met, too, and she helped me through that healing phase of mine. I've started writing a lot and posting, too, which I had stopped doing when I started being too depressed. She makes me believe that life is worth living and that there are genuinely good people around, still. She's not only kind to me but to others, too! Just in general, to everyone she knows, she's present and just so implicated in everything. She changed many people's life for the better with her job, too, without going into details, but that's amazing. She's the kind of person I wanna grow up to be when I'm at her age and she just aspires me to get better every day.
So I guess, all that to say, thank you to Smosh for allowing me to meet this gorgeous girl and establishing the ground of our friendship. Lilac is truly one of my best friends and someone who makes me feel alive in the best ways; I see her when the skies are orange, when I see kids playing in the street and having fun and in the stray cats wandering among my neighbourhood. I love you, dude, and I'm just so glad we met. Thank you for existing, really, because you make my life and a lot of others' better by simply being there and being your sunny self.
You're the Ian to my Anthony and the sun to my moon. I love you so much, pookie, and I'll never let you go. Promise one day we'll meet up for real <3

ok i caved and made a pinterest board (which i can add u as a co-creator on if u want? and if i can figure out how to do that?) but i definitely agree on mike wearing darker colours/more punk stuff. in the board i have better refs w more of that vibe. i would luv ur thoughts on hairstyles tho, as i feel like he would keep his current hairstyle, but a bit longer. more reminiscent of eddie but still his own style, yknow? also accessorizing . he definitely seems to luv Things so i feel like he would Own quite a bit of jewelry (mostly necklaces and bracelets?) but probably wouldnt Wear a majority of them lol (no this isnt me projecting idk what u mean)

ok so i have Zero Opinions on hair, though it’s become commonplace that will gets his little swoop and mike grows his hair out more. you could get fun with it and give them a little color!!
ACCESSORIES. i completely forgot those were a thing BUT for mike:
- necklaces but they’re dangly and usually the charm piece is metal because he likes to bite/chew on it and metal tastes good, but the charm itself could be anything
- bracelets i imagine Suck for him because of his bony wrists and the way things are constantly sliding (my sister has a similar body type to him and bracelets never sit for her so thats what im going off of) except for those soft friendship bracelets you can tighten because 1) comfy material 2) adjustable
- i can see mike getting his ears pierced and THAT is where the stupidness goes in his accessories. he and will and el go out to shops and buy the ones they find funny or cute so he has like. this range
but he can cover it with his hair 90% of the time, only tucking his hair back to show them to people to make them laugh or show off a little
and then for will, accessory wise, i imagine him enjoying those little leather cluster bracelets
like this kinda stuff + friendship bracelets (naturally)
- i don’t think he’d wear necklaces with the Sole Exception being a chain with the ring of power on it (not a fan of anything being near his throat usually but being a nerd overpowers trauma trust me)

okay i was noting down my fave parts as i read this so bear with me this is super long lmao
“Every time Yongbok wore the bracelet, it scratched the skin at his wrists, turning it red, and every time you held his hand, it hurt you too. He still chose to wear it, because you made it, just for him.” the bracelet can be interpreted as the crux of ynbokkie’s relationship. it was something they made during their childhood, linking to the whole “falling in love with your childhood friend” trope. felix still holds onto the bracelet, despite it causing him pain, kinda similar how he clings to yn despite his affections being one sided. because of him clinging onto this version of her, he causes her pain too. the bracelet could also symbolise his (and hana’s) tendency to hold onto the past and how they like the old version of yn (to quote minho: “I think Hana and Yongbok just got used to that version of you. The one that would go along with anything, and everything”). all in all, this relationship romanticises the past offers no room for growth
god, it seems like yn friendship with the others is super ‘one sided’ currently but it was even worse in the past. and the fact that even when she was much younger, her friends never indulged her in the things she liked, is so heartbreaking when you realise from a young age yn has become so accustomed to giving, that she feels like it would be some sort of obligation for her friends to do something she enjoyed for a change. she’s honestly breaking my heart “that was the first time in your life that you felt selfish” YN DESERVES THE WORLD 😭😭

“It was your duty, as his friend, to join him in things that made him happy” vs “You’re the one always forcing me to do stupid stuff” ugh okay i always LOVE your parallels but this one especially hurt 🥲 yn is someone who loves her friends so much to the extent that she doesn’t tell them about the apprenticeship (something that she should be vvv proud and happy of) in fear of upsetting her friends. she puts her friends’ feelings before herself as she thinks it is her “duty” to make them happy. this was also seen when she worked incredibly hard for felix’s birthday. i also think yn has some sort of fear of abandonment. after seeing how the others reacted to yeonjun leaving, maybe she thinks that if she makes them really happy and holds an important position in their lives, they won’t shun her when she moves to seoul. in contrast, felix and hana are often irritated when yn brings up any of her interests. i think one of the reasons they’re indifferent to yn’s interests they’re so fixated on maintaining the monotony in their life, they’re unable to connect the art as they don’t seek out experiences beyond what they’re comfortable with

loki really wants to go on splash mountain but since he doesn’t want to get his clothes wet, he asks the guards how ~splashy~ splash mountain gets
they don’t take him seriously and it infuriates loki because it’s a perfectly reasonable question but it quickly turns into a passionate argument that holds up the entire line
“I DEMAND TO KNOW HOW HIGH THE RISK OF GETTING WET IS, YOU INCOMPETENT FOO—”
*cue y/n and nat dragging him away while bruce runs after them to zoom in on loki’s pouty glare*
they get him a green rain poncho with black polka dots from one of the gift shops, and he’s still glowering but he puts it on without protest before each ride that involves water
normally the avengers would easily get recognised but since everyone is walking around in costumes, people approach them for several other reasons
thor is just peacefully standing in life, staring at the incredicoaster like it’s the love of his life, when a little kid tugs at his cape
“excuse me sir, why are you so tall?” “good question, why are you so short?” “hmm” “hmm”
they find a micky mouse whac-a-mole and everyone is having Fun but something possesses tony and clint and they are really going for it
tony is a 5 foot tall ball of stress and competitiveness and he is yielding that plastic hammer like it’s the last thing he’ll ever do
clint on the other hand is starting to feel the numbness in his arms
y/n, with sarcasm: “you can do it, clint!”
clint, with spite: “i cannot do it, thanks”
*y/n stares into the camera*
they also make up a rule that if you are in a 5 meters radius of one of the theme park characters, you HAVE to snap a picture with them
steve, who gets constantly shoved nudged by bucky into some character’s path, ends up taking a picture with almost every single disneyland character
at some point, he’s just downright sick of it and there’s a 7 min video of steve zooming across the lot while goofy and woody run after him with wide open arms
bucky is doubled over with laughter in the background while sam is standing beside him and wiping away his own tears
the avengers also buy all the pictures that are taken of them on the rides and even stop at some photo booths so they can send them to wanda and vision who are both vacationing on hawai’i <3
thor, peter, and y/n run themselves ragged and their legs almost give out but they will not stop until they have been on every ride that disneyland has to offer
the others think it’s obnoxious but they follow and join them without hesitation
tony is secretly trembling with fear. doing loops in the air at the speed of light is fine and so is battling aliens, but getting on a rollercoaster ride is just heart-stopping horrifying
it’s not that he doesn’t like rollercoasters, (that man has no self-preservation skills, anything that resembles plummeting to death will be gazed at with big heart eyes) but he just doesn’t trust them
if he didn’t build it or prove it, he doesn’t trust it. period. but the avengers are just so excited and happy that he can’t find it in him to sit out
that quickly results in thor and tony re-enacting very impressive Shouting Contests on each ride without fail
tony is screaming and clinging onto whoever is sitting next to him for dear life because he’s Petrified™️
and thor is screaming, because he’s having The Time Of His Life
he’s feeling the wind in his hair, his heart in his throat, and if he’s not shredding his vocal chords and flinging his limbs around, what’s the point of it all
after 20 different rides, tony is sick of pretending and just trudges through disneyland, the happiest place of earth, like it’s the sole cause of all suffering in the world
nat rejoins the group after she mysteriously disappeared for a moment and her hair is tossed, there’s ash on her face, and half of her clothes are wet
bruce, startled: “where have you been??”
nat, beaming: “there was a ride that spat fire from all sides and people jumped out of nowhere to scare you while the whole place was filled with hot water!!!”
bruce, concerned, zooms in on nat’s excited face
“nat i think you went to hell”
sam is big on merry-go-rounds so he drags everyone with him and while some one them first don’t seem to enjoy it, they change their mind once they see bucky’s little smile
(they go on at least ten more rounds until it starts to get dizzy)
a little girl trips over her princess gown and falls close to where steve is waiting in line, and steve immediately abandons his spot to rush over
bruce zooms in on them bc steve has always been kinda awkward with kids, but here he is, crouching down and comforting that little girl, and it’s so unashamedly soft and sweet
they can’t hear what steve is saying but she’s BEAMING now and even giving him a wobbly courtesy while he claps proudly
bruce turns the camera around and both he and clint are lowkey in TEARS like “why are we crying?? we didn’t even fall down” “i KNOW!!”
nat gets a hold of the camera and she’s on a mission to get the most embarrassing greatest footage possible
“bucky, go stand next to moana” “why?” “it’s moana go stand over there” “but i don’t know-“ “bucky.” *cue bucky, awkwardly standing next to moana while nat grins broadly*
when he’s back with the team, sam just stares at him blank-faced, clearly waiting for bucky to ask why he’s looking at him
eventually bucky caves in with a long sigh
“what” “i can’t believe you don’t know who moana of montunui is. she restored BALANCE to the WORLD. put some RESPECT ON HER NAME”
no one knows why but there’s footage of y/n, thor, tony, and loki strutting up and down in the middle of the lane in minnie mouse plush shoes like it’s a catwalk
sam, bucky, and nat are holding up their fingers to score them while steve is staring at them like he’s analysing their fighting stances
bruce, clint, and peter are standing on the sidelines and cheering them on as they should be
they end their day by digging into an unholy amount of fries that even steve can’t resist because they’ve been walking the whole day
a questionable amount of cotton candy also end ups in their possession and the footage of that is just mostly everyone trying out each other’s cones while the camera is passed between them
soon after, the avengers are back in their van to drive home and bruce zooms in on the row of seats where y/n has her head on peter’s shoulder while the others are also half-lounging on each other, and everyone is asleep <3

“Whatcha doin' there, kid?”
Jack looked up from a tangle of colorful yarn on the kitchen table and a paused youtube video on the laptop in front of him. “Making friendship bracelets!”
Dean grabbed a mug from a cabinet and went to the coffee maker. “Doing what now?”
“It’s Friendship Day today and I want to make one for Claire.” He looked at the yarn in his hands which Dean could now tell was threaded together into a pattern. “And Kaia and Alex and Jody and Donna.” He sighed dramatically. “I have a lot to do.”
“Didn’t know Friendship Day was a thing,” Dean said, sitting across from him.
“Me either!” Jack said. “But Google said it was today and I have a lot of friends so I need to celebrate.” He weaved the orange and red threads together. “You should make one!”
Dean snorted and took a drink from his mug. “Think I’m a little too old for friendship bracelets.”
That was something he remembered girls in middle school doing. Making them during recess, passing them around during lunch. Supposed to wear one and never take it off, some superstition about not breaking the bonds of friendship. Never got one himself, so he couldn't say whether that had any truth to it or not.
He blinked to realize Jack was dumping yarn in front of him. “What?”
“I have extras, I flew to the craft store this morning to buy some.”
Dean recognized the determined look in Jack’s eyes; he’d seen it too many times in Cas’. "I dunno how to make one,” he tried as a last ditch effort to get out of this project.
Jack turned his laptop around so they could both see the screen. “I have a tutorial. It’s really easy.”
Setting down his mug with a sigh, Dean started rooting through the yarn, choosing different colors. Friendship Day. At another time, he would’ve told Jack he didn’t have any friends to make bracelets for. That wasn’t true anymore; the bunker was always getting visitors—hunters from other states, Benny, Charlie, Jody, Donna or one of the girls.
He realized the colors he was setting aside were all different shades of blue. Sure, he and Cas were a lot more than friends—he had a blooming hickey on his inner thigh to prove it—but he knew the way Cas’ eyes would light up receiving one. And, anyway, they were friends. Had been for a long time now.
Jack tapped the play button on the youtube video and it was settled. Cas was getting a friendship bracelet.
Maybe not a perfect one, Dean thought half an hour later, sticking his tongue out in concentration as he tried to make the bracelet turn out straight and not all wonky. He tested the length around his own wrist and decided it looked decent. Pretty good for his first ever friendship bracelet.
“Done,” he announced, looking up to see Jack starting on a third. “Jesus, kid, slow down.”
Jack didn’t look up, weaving the purple and white yarn together. “Can’t. I have to make one for Charlie too, just remembered.”
“She’ll love that.” He could almost hear Charlie’s excitement now. Getting to his feet, he ruffled Jack’s hair. “You got a lot of lucky friends. Having you as a friend, I mean.”
Jack beamed up at him. “I’m lucky too.”
And Dean thought he was the luckiest of all to get Cas as a friend-plus-more. He found the angel sitting in the library, reading a Pottery Barn magazine, the picture of contentment.
At his entrance, Cas looked up and smiled. “I found a bookshelf that I think would look nice in our room.” He turned the magazine around so Dean could see.
“Cool.” Dean hovered near his chair, suddenly feeling sheepish holding the thin bracelet in his hand. He cleared his throat. “Hey, you, uh. You know what day it is?”
Cas turned a page in the magazine. "Sunday, August 1st. 2021. 3:12pm. And seven seconds."
"No, it's like a special day."
Cas frowned, looking up at him. “Is today another human holiday I’m unaware of?”
“Nah, it’s not that important. Just, uh. Friendship Day. Jack told me. He’s making friendship bracelets for Claire and Charlie and everyone.”
Cas smiled. “That’s very sweet of him.”
“I kinda made you one. To celebrate, or whatever.” He held out the bracelet.
Cas’ eyes widened going from the dangling bracelet to him. “You made one for me?”
“Yeah, uh. Figured we’re friends, right?” Feeling his face heat, he ducked his head to take Cas’ hand and tie it around his wrist. “Just a weird thing people do.”
Cas turned his wrist to study the bracelet more closely. “I think it’s a wonderful sentiment. I didn’t know you were skilled at bracelet making.”
“Dude, it’s not that hard.” He sat down on the arm of the chair, more to hide his red face than anything. “Jack’s look way better.”
“I love it,” Cas said decisively. “If I had known about today, I would’ve made you one too.”
“It’s not a big deal.”
“It is,” Cas insisted. He ran his finger over the bracelet, blue threads forming a pattern more even in some places than others. “You’re my best friend.”
The simple statement, said so definitively, made Dean a little dizzy. Leaning down, he kissed Cas, felt the bracelet brush his face when Cas cupped his jaw. “You're mine too.”
Cas kissed him back, then tugged him off the arm of the chair to half-sit in his lap. The magazine slipped to the floor and Dean shifted, wrapping an arm around Cas’ shoulders to steady himself. He tapped the bracelet. “You’re not supposed to take it off. Kinda a symbol or whatever. Friends for life.”
Cas nodded solemnly and hovered his palm over the bracelet, a glow warming the strands before subsiding. "Nothing can break it, so I can wear it forever." He leaned his head back against Dean’s arm to meet his eyes.
“And, uh, if you made me a bracelet, I would wear it.”
“I will, then.” A slow smile spread across his face. “Does this mean we’re BFFs?” Dean groaned, and Cas laughed. “Claire taught me that phrase.”
“That’s so corny,” Dean complained. But he kissed him again. “Hell yeah we are.”

SFW Howie Alphabet Headcanons
Author's Note: When will my husband come home from war?
Disclaimer: These headcanons are based on how I imagine Howie to be based on the game. You don't have to agree with what I say here as everyone is free to have their own ideas.
𝄥 𝄞 ── 𝄇
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
VERY affectionate. I honestly feel like he grew up surrounded with so much love and now he’s just overflowing with it. Howie is all about showing his love through warm hugs, having his arm around you, swinging your hands as you walk, head pats, you name it. Another one, in my opinion, is words of affirmation. He'd tell you how much you matter to him through words, like quoting lines from his favorite movies and saying "I love you" before you both go to sleep.
B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)
Affectionate. Lots of play fighting and cuddling during movie sessions. Singing to Disney songs at the top of your lungs. You guys make friendship bracelets for each other (and he never takes off his). Definitely one of those dudes who drive their best friend everywhere.
C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)
If it’s not apparent already, this dude is a giant golden retriever and he lives for the cuddles. He is born to cuddle, baby. Due to his size, it’s natural that he ends up as a big spoon more often than not but he definitely loves the moments he gets to be the small spoon.
D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)
So domestic, even when you guys just started dating. It’s easy to imagine yourself settling down with someone as warm and comforting as Howie. He would love to settle down and build a home with you and you guys love having conversations about your dream house and how your life would be like in five, ten years. He’s alright at cooking in general but can cook some amazing Chinese dishes that his mom taught him.
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
It would be hard for him to get out of a relationship, to be completely honest. He’s one of those people who easily gets attachment issues and finds it hard to move on from a relationship. If he really has to be the one to end the relationship, he would want to talk it out with you and try to end your relationship on a good note. I feel like he’s one of those people who really values respect, even when things aren’t working out anymore between you two.
F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)
Howie is a hopeless romantic and while he does have his insecurities, I feel like he would really love to commit to someone. In terms of marriage, it really depends on you. I don’t think his career would hinder him much when it comes to popping the question, to be honest. If he feels like he’s comfortable enough with the relationship and sees that you are, too, I think he’d propose to you when he feels like the time is right.
G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
Howie is a textbook example of a gentle giant. He knows he’s strong so physically, he knows when to hold back a bit. Emotionally, it’s canon that he’s a soft and caring boy through and through and he would never hurt you on purpose.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
Ugh, he LOVES hugs. It’s canon that the Yan fam is really good with hugs so if you need a pick-me-up, he’s your man. Whenever you guys are alone, he acts like an overgrown koala because he can’t get enough of hugging you. If hot chocolate is a hug, it’s what Howie’s would feel like. Warm, familiar, and comforting.
I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)
He knows he loves you when he does but holds back a lot in fear of coming off too strong. If he feels that you feel the same, then he would say it pretty quickly into the relationship or during a spur of a moment. If it seems that you need more time, he would hold back just so that you wouldn't feel uncomfortable.
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)
He’s the type who’s less jealous and more insecure. His jealousy isn’t going to make him act rashly and put you on the spot. It’s slow and creeping and you might not notice at first because of how well he conceals it but it becomes apparent by the way he starts to act distant.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
Warm and gentle. His kisses make you feel so safe and loved and he likes to take the time to show you how he feels through the gesture. He loves to kiss you everywhere but his favorite places to kiss you are your nose and temples.
Also, kiss him on the forehead and he’d melt into a puddle. Another one of his hotspots is at the back of his neck. Kiss him there and watch him sputter as he tries to gain back his bearings.
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
He loves kids, kids love him. He humors the kids a lot and is a great impersonator so prepare yourself for some improvised skits in front of the kiddos. Can’t say no to the kids, though, so you might have to step in from time to time. Kids treat him like a human jungle gym. Which he actually is.
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
I definitely see him as a morning person. Also, he’s so fit that you can’t tell me he doesn’t workout every single morning. Probably goes on an early jog and is one of those people who seems so chipper even if it's only seven in the morning.
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)
Have you seen actors with their stage makeup on? There’s no way Howie’s skin stays so smooth and supple without some form of skincare routine. Has his own skincare routine and loves doing it with you together in front of the mirror (while making faces at you). After a good skincare session, he'll sit on the couch or in bed with you cuddled up to him as he reads scripts from his new upcoming projects.
O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
Depending on how much he trusts you, it could be sooner or later. The thing with him is that he keeps things bottled up to himself. It’s hard and it’s tiring and the moment he feels safe with you, the dam breaks and he starts to reveal things about himself.
P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)
It’s definitely hard to annoy Howie and even harder to provoke him. He has the patience of a saint and unless something is very wrong, you can always find him just chillin lol.
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
He’s quite sentimental so he definitely remembers your relationship milestones. He remembers a lot of small things about you; like how you like your cereal and your best friend’s name from high school. Some of the details can be fuzzy at times but he tries!
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
Canonically: The moment you said yes when he asked to be your boyfriend at Luca’s "sister's wedding".
Headcanon: The time you both visited his family in Chicago for the holidays. You were walking home from dinner when the snowfall turned into a snowstorm. It was terribly cold and windy but you both kept on laughing at the situation and you looked so gorgeous with snow stuck to your hair under the waning streetlight that he didn’t even care that he's freezing his butt off.
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)
Isn’t too protective in the traditional sense because he knows you can take care of yourself. More protective of how you feel because of his words and actions so he’s careful in what he says and how he says them because he doesn’t want to hurt your feelings. Highkey loves to be protected tho. Thinks it's kinda hot.
T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
Puts a lot of effort in his career, obviously. Howie is always so passionate and ambitious when it comes to being a top actor. Relationship-wise, he’s a simp. Dates are mostly casual with him but he puts extra time and effort in choosing or making gifts. All the extra and expensive bits goes into your anniversary dates.
U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)
A lot of times, he leaves his wet, sweaty workout shirts at the corner of the room and somehow always forgets no matter how many times you’ve scolded him. Sometimes doesn’t close or tie snack packages properly so when it's your turn to eat them, they’re often stale. A terrible snorer when he’s had a long day on set.
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)
Quite concerned. He likes to highlight the nice parts of his body through the clothes he choose to wear and tries to follow a healthy diet in general. He worked hard for his body and as much as embarrassing as it is to admit, he loves to show off and be admired for it (especially by you).
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)
A strong believer that every person is complete and whole on their own. He believes that every person is their own and just because you love someone, it doesn't mean that your life must revolve around that person. Even so, he is a romantic. So even if he knows that he's complete without you, he does prefer to have you by his side.
X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)
He can play the piano really well. Aside from dance lessons, his parents put aside a lot of money to sign him up for piano classes when he was younger. Now, he plays them whenever he’s deep in thought and it’s always relaxing to hear him play.
Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
In general, Howie doesn’t like broccoli. Keep those away from him. Please. When it comes to partners, Howie stays away from people who make him feel less. Basically people who put him down for being who he is and liking the things he likes. Narcissists, if you will.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
He’s a snuggler and he nuzzles into your side a lot when he sleeps. Whether you get too warm is your problem because this dude is Strong™ and won’t let you push him aside that easily. And, God, I hate to say this but he’s definitely a snorer. Not all the time but when he’s really tired.... let’s just say you won’t be getting a decent sleep.

i used some prompts from this post while writing. it fit them too well!

Adam X Kate: Turn your face to the sun
“So? What do you think?” Kate asked.
Adam looked around their surroundings. They were attending a folk concert held in Kate’s hometown, and even though it wasn’t Adam’s usual scene, he’d been quick to accept when Kate had invited him.
The sun was shining bright in the sky and nearly everyone was smiling, the sound of music getting louder but nowhere near unbearable as they approached the small stage in the middle of the park. There weren’t as many people as Adam had feared, only a small crowd forming in front of the stage.
“It looks nice,” Adam said. “I’m glad you asked me to come.”
“Of course!” Kate said. “It’s about time we—”
“Kate! Over here!” someone shouted from behind them, effectively interrupting their conversation.
Adam watched as Kate turned around to face a group of people, her face cracking into a brilliant smile once she seemed to recognize them.
“Hey, y’all!” Kate beamed, hugging one of the women. “Long time, no see.”
It was strange to see Kate so in her element. Just walking across the park and to the event area, they’d been stopped several times as people wanted to catch up with Kate and a few even asked for her autograph.
“It’s so good to see you! Where have you been?” one of Kate’s current admirers asked.
“Oh, I did a bit of soul-searching,” Kate explained. “Kinda needed to drop off the grid for a while.”
Adam could tell Kate was struggling with the lie. It had been a couple months since their escape from the Entity and they were only just now getting used to the normalcy of the real world. Standing here, being alive and well and surrounded by happy people with the sun shining down on them was almost too good to be true.
“This is my date, Adam!” Kate introduced him.
But the best thing about the situation was that Adam was here with the most incredible woman he’d ever had the pleasure of knowing.
“Nice to meet you,” Adam said, giving a polite nod to the group.
“Likewise!” one of Kate’s friends said. “We’ll leave you to it, but let’s catch up sometime, okay?”
“That sounds lovely!” Kate agreed, before turning to Adam. “Come on, let’s find a good spot!”
Adam followed Kate closer to the stage, almost transfixed on the way her long dress swayed in the gentle breeze. With her flowy sundress and the daisies in her hair, Kate looked like a personification of summer, and Adam was honored to be allowed to bask in her warmth.
It also reminded Adam how overdressed he was for the occasion. He’d chosen to wear a suffocating button-up and stiff chinos that already felt too warm for the weather. Hopefully he’d manage a few hours in the Pennsylvanian summer.
“You wanna stay farther away from the stage?” Kate asked.
“Yes, please,” Adam said with a grateful smile.
Kate knew how much of an introvert he was and she had never appeared to see it as a big deal. The concert was already out of Adam’s comfort zone, so getting some relative privacy would be very welcome.
They found a spot away from the commotion but with a relatively unobstructed view of the stage and Adam pulled out the picnic blanket he’d packed earlier and spread it over the soft grass. All the while Kate kept looking at him in intrigue, making Adam wonder whether he’d done something wrong.
“Is something wrong?” he asked.
“You have a really good smile, you know that?” Kate said, making Adam realize he’d been smiling the entire time.
“Oh. Thank you,” Adam said, scratching at his neck self-consciously. “I guess I don’t tend to smile that much. Especially after…”
He didn’t need to explain further. Kate nodded in understanding, knowing they all had their own demons to battle after their capture and subsequent escape from the creature that still haunted their nightmares.
“Let’s make some better memories together,” Kate said with an adorable, soft smile.
Adam felt his face heat up and he merely offered a stiff “yes” as they started unpacking their bags.
They’d never officially decided what this was between them. For what felt like years, they’d been closer than friends but not quite lovers. None of the other survivors had batted an eye when Kate sought comfort in Adam’s arms by the campfire every time the trials became too much. There were jokes about them being a couple, sure, but to this day nothing had actually happened between them. Adam had never wanted to push and regardless, a world of violence and death wasn’t exactly the best setting for romance.
But now they were free and Kate had wasted no time in asking him on a date. He didn’t want to get his hopes up, but he was certain that it had to mean something.
“I brought snacks!” Kate's triumphant grin snapped Adam out of his thoughts.
Adam watched as she retrieved a small box of strawberries as well as a packet of cookies from her beach bag.
“I wanted to have a picnic but didn’t know what you liked, so…” Kate explained.
“That was very thoughtful of you,” Adam said. “I didn’t realize to bring anything…”
“And I didn’t expect you to!” Kate reassured. “Come on, have some!”
They sat down to enjoy the snacks together, catching up on the brief period of time they’d been apart. Adam had been busy with a pile of paperwork about his disappearance in Japan and Kate had temporarily moved in with her parents. It became clear that neither of them were certain what the future would bring.
“There’s so many opportunities!” Kate said. “We can do whatever we want. The freedom is amazing.”
“It is,” Adam agreed. “But also a little overwhelming.”
He had no idea what he would do or where he would even go. All he knew was that he wanted to be near Kate; she was his rock and no matter what happened, he was sure he’d be okay as long as they were together.
Of course, he couldn’t say that out loud. They weren’t a couple and it was a little too intense to place so much importance on their friendship.
“We’ll figure something out,” Kate said, and just her smile was almost enough to reassure Adam.
They sat together and finished the snacks while enjoying the music, until the crowd seemed to get even more invigorated as people got up to dance. Adam watched a small group form in front of the stage with people twirling, jumping and laughing as they danced to the upbeat music.
"Let's join them!" Kate suggested almost immediately.
Adam shouldn’t have been surprised. Kate’s love for music knew no bounds, and even now she was nearly shaking with the boundless energy she always seemed to possess.
"We can't just leave our things," Adam tried to reason. "You go on, I'll stay here."
"Aw, you can’t get rid of me that easily! I wanna dance with you!” Kate said. “Nobody's gonna take anything.”
"I'm not much of a dancer," Adam protested, abruptly feeling the nervousness start to kick in.
"You'll be fine, hun—I promise!" Kate smiled at him and extended her bracelet-clad hand.
Before the fog had swallowed him all those years ago, Adam would have declined in a heartbeat. But he wanted to believe he had changed. During the last few years, he’d learned he was much more capable than he could have ever imagined—a little dancing surely wouldn’t kill him.
So he grabbed Kate’s hand and let himself be briefly pulled into her world of sunshine and spontaneity.
While they approached the stage, Adam tried his best to learn the choreography by observing people dancing. To his mortification, there didn’t seem to be choreography, all of the dancers seemingly able to effortlessly improvise a professional-looking routine.
By the time they reached their destination, Adam’s hand was sweating where it was holding Kate’s. She didn’t seem to care, only turning to him with a bright smile before settling closer to him in a dance position.
"Don't worry hun, just follow my lead!" Kate said.
Kate started leading him into a dance and Adam followed the best he could. He stared at her feet to try to get the hang of her movements, focusing too hard and completely ignoring the beat—
It was only a matter of time before his foot landed on Kate’s much smaller sandal-covered one.
"Sorry!" Adam apologized, embarrassed over his mistake. “Did I hurt you?”
"Don't worry so much," Kate said. "Look at me and just go with the flow."
Adam lifted his gaze to Kate's face and some of his tension melted away under her familiar smile.
Gradually, he got the hang of it. The song changed but the rhythm of Kate's movements stayed the same, and eventually Adam's clumsy steps got more confident and mirrored the spring in Kate's. He learned to read her ques, changing directions when she did and twirling her around when she wanted to. Kate laughed and giggled while they danced, the smile never leaving her face, like this is what she was made to do.
Adam realized she might not have gotten the chance to dance with anyone before this, not since their escape. Kate was never meant for the dull grey world of the Entity; she was meant for this, sun and music and dancing without a care in the world. And Adam was honored to be able to give it to her.
He lost count of how many songs they danced to. Previously, he might have been embarrassed of letting Kate lead, but any worries about arbitrary gender roles had disappeared during the years where their lives were nothing but survival.
Worrying about the past was the last thing on Adam’s mind as he followed his ray of sunshine into another dance. He was sweating something fierce but he didn't care, absently popping a few buttons on his shirt and rolling up the sleeves to try to cool down. Kate seemingly didn’t tire of dancing, but Adam spotted the redness on her cheeks and the more pronounced breaths she took as they picked up the pace and the exertion started to kick in.
At some point, people started forming a ring in some sort of group dance, and Kate didn’t hesitate to guide them to join in. The choreography was easy to understand this time, Adam effortlessly keeping up as everyone danced in a ring, before partnering up and switching every so often. Even though he stumbled a few times, Adam had always prided himself on being a fast learner.
When Kate twirled herself into being his partner for the finale, Adam found himself laughing. He was having fun.
"See? I knew you'd like it!" Kate said.
“Only you could convince me to do something like this,” Adam said.
Kate laughed with him, the sound radiant and inviting. She was beautiful and so full of light, turning heads even on the makeshift dance floor. He didn’t think he’d ever quite understand what she saw in a nerd like him.
Once the song ended, Kate let out a sigh.
"Whew, I'm beat!" she said.
Adam couldn't agree more. No matter how much he enjoyed the dancing, he was starting to get winded and his shirt was now drenched in sweat.
"Let's go drink some water," Adam suggested.
They returned to their spot and, to Adam's surprise, everything seemed to be exactly the way they left it. He'd completely forgotten about his worries while they danced.
Adam got out his water bottle from his backpack, when Kate's voice interrupted him.
"Aww, no!" Kate said, clearly disappointed when she peered into her bag.
"What's wrong?" Adam asked.
"I didn't close my bottle properly," Kate said, pulling out her wet, empty water bottle. "It's leaked all over."
She showed her bag that contained some now-soaked cookie crumbs and her keys bathing in water.
"I'm so sorry," Adam said. "We should hang it to dry somewhere—"
"It's not a big deal," Kate said with a smile. "It's just gonna smell like soggy cookies for a bit. That's what I get for being a klutz."
Adam's full water bottle felt heavy in his hands.
"Here, have some of mine," he said, extending the item.
"Are you sure?" Kate asked.
"Absolutely," Adam said. "We need to stay hydrated in this weather."
"You're the sweetest," Kate said and Adam felt his face heat up from the compliment.
Kate accepted the bottle, and only took one prim, small sip before holding it out for him.
"Come on, take a proper drink," Adam encouraged. "We’ll split it in half."
Kate gave him a sheepish smile, before tipping her head back and taking big gulps of the beverage, drinking nearly half of the bottle.
"Whew, that was refreshing," Kate said with a happy sigh. "Thanks, doll."
"My pleasure," Adam said.
He followed Kate's lead and emptied the bottle with similar gusto. The water felt heavenly in his dry throat and overheated body.
Afterwards, Adam insisted on setting up Kate's bag to dry in the sun.
"It should dry in no time," Adam said. "It's really hot today. I wish I was dressed for the weather."
"But you look so snazzy," Kate smiled. "Feels like I'm with royalty."
"I don't know about that. You look incredible today. I mean—err, you always do, but..." Adam floundered. "Your dress is beautiful."
"Thank you," Kate said with a shy smile, doing a little twirl. "It's good for dancing."
"I still can't believe you got me to dance," Adam said, shaking his head in disbelief.
“Admit it. You had fun back there!” Kate was positively beaming at him.
"I did," Adam admitted. "And I never would have tried it on my own. Thank you."
"Thank you for doing it for me," Kate said. “I know this ain’t your thing, and I didn’t wanna push too hard. But I knew you’d be great, and…”
Kate trailed off, and Adam followed her gaze to an ice cream booth at the foot of the hill.
"Do you want to get ice cream?" Adam asked.
"I was just about to ask!" Kate grinned.
They walked to the kiosk, only standing in a short line as most people were still busy dancing. Adam took some time to browse the list of available flavors while they waited.
"Do you know what you're getting?" Adam asked.
"Not yet—there's so many to choose from!" Kate said, almost as in awe.
Adam hummed in agreement and focused back on the list. He was a little disappointed to not find matcha flavor on the menu, as it was his favorite from his time in Japan. Most of the options looked sickly sweet, and Adam skimmed over the cookie and candy flavors until eventually settling onto pistachio.
He glanced over at Kate who was still staring at the menu. If Adam had to guess, she was choosing between some of the more strange flavors—maybe even thinking about mixing them into a daring combination.
"Okay, I'm done!" Kate said once it was their turn to order. "You go first."
"One pistachio, please," Adam said.
"And for the lady?" the vendor asked.
"Chocolate," Kate said.
Adam turned to look at Kate in surprise.
"I ain't that adventurous with food," Kate explained with a sheepish grin.
After Kate's usual spontaneity and boldness, it was incredibly endearing to find out that she was a picky eater. Adam was suddenly eager for an opportunity to introduce her to Japanese and Jamaican flavors in the future.
"You can't go wrong with the classics," Adam assured.
"Here you go," the vendor said, handing over their orders. "That’s $3 a piece."
Kate started fishing out her wallet, but Adam beat her to it.
"It's on me," Adam said, already paying for their orders. “I owe you for the snacks.”
"Well, ain't you a gentleman," Kate said with a mischievous smirk.
Rather than stay closer to the stage, they returned to their spot to enjoy their ice creams.
"How is it?" Adam asked.
"Love it!" Kate beamed. "Do you wanna try?"
Butterflies danced in Adam's gut when Kate extended the treat to him. He nodded and carefully took a bite out of the ice cream. The chocolate flavor was not as rich as he'd normally like, but the texture was creamy and it didn’t taste too sweet.
"It's really good," Adam said. "Do you want to try mine?"
Kate regarded his green ice cream skeptically.
"Sure!" she eventually decided.
Kate hesitantly tasted the ice cream with the very tip of her tongue, before her face twisted into a grimace and Adam found himself laughing.
"Not for you, huh?" he teased.
"No, sorry, it's…" Kate said. "It tastes weird. Why is it salty?"
"Different strokes, I suppose," Adam smiled, digging back into his strange-tasting dessert.
They ate in companionable silence, watching the music performance and the people dancing to it.
"Thanks for coming with me today," Kate broke the silence.
"Thank you for inviting me," Adam said. "It's not my usual type of event, so I hope I didn't make too much of a fool of myself."
"What are you talking about? If anything, you're too cool for a place like this," Kate said.
"That's definitely not true," Adam protested. "I am not ‘cool’ in the slightest."
"Yeah you are," Kate insisted with a smile. "You're always so calm and polite and know exactly what to do. It feels like I'm just a dumb country girl in the presence of a prince or something."
Adam couldn't believe his ears. All this time, he’d thought Kate was too good for him, and she’d felt the exact same way about him?
"You are anything but dumb, Kate," Adam said. "To be honest, your charisma and talent sometimes overwhelms me. I often wonder what you see in me."
Kate laughed; not a mocking one, but a laugh that told Adam he was being absurd.
"Guess we're both kinda dumb, then," Kate smiled.
Adam returned the smile, feeling immense relief. He now knew that—for some crazy reason—Kate was just as fond of him as he was of her. Neither of them broke eye contact, and for a while they merely looked into each other’s eyes while their ice creams slowly melted.
"Can I kiss you?" Adam found himself asking.
It was barely above a whisper, finally having the courage to ask the words he hadn’t been able to during all these years.
"Thought you'd never ask," Kate said just as softly.
They both leaned into the kiss, and feelings of affection for this woman bloomed in Adam's chest when their lips met. Kate's lips were chilly from the ice cream but there was an underlying warmth in them that spread through Adam's body, like he was basking in the glow of the sun.
Their lips moved slowly against each other’s, hesitant at first and then finding a shared rhythm; just like when they danced together earlier.
When they pulled away, Adam was breathless, but it wasn’t not from a lack of air; it was from everything that was Kate.
"Hmm," Kate said conversationally.
"Hmm?” Adam repeated.
"Guess I don't mind pistachio flavor when it's mixed with Adam flavor," Kate smirked.
Adam threw his head back and laughed, and Kate did too.
They finished their half-melted ice creams while listening to the last songs of the concert. They talked about anything and everything, Adam no longer feeling like he had to hold back or keep up appearances. He placed his hand on Kate's and Kate insisted on trying some more ice cream from his lips.
It was the best date of Adam's life and he couldn't wait to see what their future might bring, knowing that Kate would be right by his side.
