the difference between cas and almost every other character on supernatural is that they all thought dean was beautiful but nearly everyone except cas followed that train of thought to “i want to take him and make him mine” (often with the violence that entails) and cas saw beauty and just thought “it would be a privilege to exist in your orbit”. it’s wanting to consume beauty for yourself vs. just basking in the light

do you think cas watches dean and sam bandage themselves up with wrap and band aids when they get hurt after fighting monsters? when cas gets hurt when his grace is failing and he’s covered in cuts from a fight with a demon and little traces of his grace are pouring from those wounds, cas looks at dean and says quietly, “can you patch me up?” while gesturing to the bandages. dean immediately crouches down next to cas and he’s so so so gentle as he wraps cas’ wounds with bandages and puts a little band aid on cas’ cheek where a knife caught him and he murmurs softly, “there. feeling better now, angel?” cas smiles and nods his head, still so close to dean that they’re sharing the same breaths. “much better. thank you, dean.” and from then on, even when cas gets his powers back and he heals quickly, dean will still bandage him up and ask tenderly “feeling better now?” and cas will kiss him in response
