no mom i'm not outwardly expressing my stress because i'm using some sort of secret manipulation tactic to make you do what i want and stop doing my homework, it's because i have a disability that makes it much more difficult to do everyday tasks, and i'm letting myself stop holding it in until the last minute for the sake of you and dad's expectations
no mom nothing is going on that is making me act differently. it's because i am trying to stop masking in my own home after a lifetime of trying to please you with how i act
no mom that simple question you want me to answer after an entire day of socialization and compounded burnout isn't as simple as you think it is to me
no mom i'm not talking back to you i am asking about your motives because i respect you as a parent, person, but not as a figure of ultimate unquestionable authority, and i am old enough to have skepticism and opinions
no dad i'm not being rude when i'm telling you to lower your voice when you're helping me with homework, and i am grateful for you going out of your way to do this, it's just sometimes your voice echoes off the wall of the dining room and it's a little distracting and off-putting to me, i just want to hear you better when you speak without worrying about the noise
yes mom i understand you have a tank that needs to be filled up with the kind of affection you need, and i do my best to show my love in the ways you want me to, but it's very hard for me to pour water into your tank after draining mine empty on a daily basis. i try, though, and i love you. please understand.

i'm so bad at writing action scenes...
#stuff sarah says#somehow the trials in a certain video game cringe fic were way easier to write#i think bc it's emotion based? like everyone's supposed to be so scared and fighting for their lives with no weapons#and i can do that. i can write fear. i can write getting impaled on a meat hook repeatedly#guns???? mutated evil scientists????????? environmental explosions????#girl help........#and of course i'm writing abt the gun evil mutated guy and explosions games...#while i would love to write 50k of people just crying and talking about feelings. that's not realistic to canon#nor is it actually the story i wanted to tell either. i wanted peril.#i'm just used to a lot more dialogue and less action in my peril i guess#but i'm doing my best#i should read things that have action in them for research while i edit i think#or oh nooo replay the games over and over again (actually i can't do that bc i already do)#(and clearly it didn't make me better at writing these scenes)

i've apparently really started to lean into my aesthetic and have started collecting shiny rocks and various occult items which teenage me would have swooned over, and adult me is... well, still swooning over.
anyway i realized that i reference runes way too often in my writing to not have a quick reference so i just... bought a set of rune stones. because this is just who i am as a person i guess.

Last week was so long, but I learned a lot.
Luckily I had the weekend off to recharge. I did chores, studied, watched Netflix, and spent time with friends.
This is my last week with this particular attending and patient population, and I've no doubt I'll keep learning a ton, if last week was any indication. It will be challenging but I'm looking forward to it.
