oooooh!! buck is a dad boogie woogie oogie is about Buck adopting a safe haven baby that gets left at the station while he's man behind. I've had the wip since season four and it was initially supposed to take place during the whole buck begins era, but now i'm reworking it to be post 6b! Here's a snippet:

She’s so small in his arms Buck almost can’t believe she’s real. He finds himself holding his breath as her tiny pink face scrunches up, the tape keeping her nasal cannula in place wrinkling with the movements. Even just the tip of his finger feels too big as he carefully smooths the edge of the tape back down. She gives a small sleepy grunt, little fingers twisting in the fabric of his shirt as he situates her against his chest, resting her head against his shoulder. Grizzling, she squirms before finally she settles in his arms, snuffling against his neck with little warm puffs of breath.  “Oh you’re a natural, Evelyn likes you already.”  Buck pauses, looking up at the social worker. “Uh…E-Evelyn? She, uh– she has a name? When I found her there wasn’t any—”  “Oh! I named her— Evelyn is much nicer than Baby Jane Doe, isn’t it?”  Evelyn makes a tiny noise as if she’s agreeing. Buck adjusts his grip on her little body, rubbing soothing circles in random patterns on her back.  “How’d you pick Evelyn?”  The social worker smiles, “We like to name the babies after the people that find them.”  Oh. Evelyn…Evan.  “Oh…” Buck ducks his head, eyes prickling and throat suddenly tight.
