I love Meleanor's headpiece so much because it is actually HER CROWN. Its not just a mere accessory.

Because she already has gorgeous horns, a human crown will be unflattering for her, so most likely the Land of Briar made this custom, measured her horns and all, and designed it to accentuate her horns: her main dragon feature.

I love it because it symbolizes Briar Land's admiration of the dragon fae kind. Instead of the usual thing with human rulers where their crown shines more than their visage, Meleanor's accessory makes HER stand out more.

I love the patterns and how it hugs her horns, It is so pretty. 🥺🥺💚💚💖💖💖💕💕

If we ever get Briar Valley event, I wonder if Malleus also has a crown fitted like this as well?? 🥺 I would kill to see a similar accessory like these on Hornton KSJAKDJAJ

The King and the Rose Portrait

Thousands of years later, visitors of the Briar Valley would see in the throne room the portrait of a lonely king and the empty throne beside his where a single rose lays.

What would you do if you woke up every morning with the knowledge that someone loves you more than anything else in the world, and then suddenly, they are gone?

It is the same torturous question that lurked in Malleus' head ever since the day you left this wonderland… the same question he wished he knew the answer to. How many years has it been? He lost count already. He couldn't even answer if it was a good thing that faes do not forget because your memories are still crystal clear in his mind. And no matter how brief they were, they always bring him to heights of joy only to wake up in a reality where you do not exist anymore.

A reality he must face for eternity.

During nighttime strolls, he would find himself far from the valley of Briar, in front of a ramshackle house that you used to live in. The pillars have already collapsed, glass shards, and termite-infested wood that were once your walls and windows were now pieces of scraps nobody even cared about cleaning up. Now that you're gone, it is once again a dead ruin, devoid of any life as if you took it along with you, leaving memories that brought him happiness and tears he couldn't even cry, knowing very well that these scattered pieces of an old and worn house are one of the few witnesses that you were there. That somehow, you existed in the same place and time as him. That a time came where Malleus wasn't truly alone.

Roses only found in Briar Valley started growing there. It was a wonder how these flowers survived on human soil, but it reminds him so much of his human who thrived on a foreign land. A reminder of his unexpected love that he never asked for but refuses to let go of. No matter how much time will pass, he knows he could never feel the same. He won't let go because only when it hurts can he say that it was real. Even Lilia's words do not get through to him. Not even his grandmother who could only look at him as he sat stoically on his throne, regal as a king but lonely as he looked before his people. Once again, like a curse to whoever leads the Briar. To live long in honor and loneliness.

Many of them would stare at the throne of the Queen beside him, empty and bittersweet. All faes know about you, after all. Never once in their history has a human been engaged to a fae royalty. Some have been doubtful, but then again, some were relieved that the future king won't be leading on his own and he has a human for a queen who could help the valley build bridges rather than barriers with humankind. They've also witnessed the love you share. How the fae prince seemed to be livelier and had a pleasant smile on his face, how you listened with utter interest to his in-depth analysis of things, especially gargoyles, that not even them or his retainers could endure. They witnessed your selflessness and how he tried to repay you with the love you always gave back to him. Over time, they've grown to love you too… the Queen they never had.

The day life escaped your eyes, you took Malleus' with you.

That day, the Briar Valley was cloaked in silence, torn and cracked only by constant bolts of lightning and thunderclaps; the loudest sound, however, was his cries as his heart tore in two with nothing to ease the pain. Nothing could ever.

His beloved is gone.

How can you refill a void when everything you use to seal it will only fall into that hollow? You just can't.

It is too much real to be a fairy tale.

Thousands of years later, visitors to the Briar would see in the throne room the portrait of a lonely king. Resplendent as he sat on his throne, the king who brought the valley of faes into a new era. However mighty he is, stare carefully at his painted portrait, and you will see how devoid of life his eyes were… and too, will you see an empty throne of the Queen beside his where a single rose lays.

His love at first sight, the Queen who never was.

Briar Valley Lore HC:

The powerful aura of the Draconias isn't the only reason people fear them. The Draconias have a habit of letting rumors go uninterrupted, more interested in simply seeing what happens. Allowing such things to remain without punishment simply because they're interesting is a trait shared by the royal family members.

As a result, you get a few tales like this:

Queen Malefica, grandmother of the heir apparent and future king of the abyss, spins and weaves a banner that reaches back to the end of time. It records the fate of all in Briar Valley, both that which has passed and that which is to come. If you cross the queen, she will weave you an ill fate.

Reality:

Malefica, at some point in her youth, started weaving a temperature blanket and has not stopped since. Thanks to her powerful magic, she can keep it going even when she is busy with other matters. Its color shifts across the day to show what temperatures occurred at the same time in the past. Sometimes, you can see very dramatic shifts in color when a Draconia threw a fit that changed the weather, or when something good happened that blew away all chill and storm.

But really- it's just a temperature blanket.

She adores the story her loyal subjects have made, though. She doesn't want to spoil the fun. ;)

Briar Valley Event

We have a total of 5 hometown events, where we visit characters' home towns. And I hope the 6th event is a Briar Valley event.

Specifically I want it to be centered around Sebek. Not Silver, or Lilia, or Malleus. Just Sebek. For the reason of, I want to know Briar Valley's beliefs and politics. And we can't get that as much with the others.

I would love to see where Sebek got his beliefs.

Is his hatred for humans a form of projection due to him being half human? Or is it a belief he picked up from people in the Briar Valley?

Is he accepted by the Valley because he's part fae? Is he rejected for being part human? Or do they simply not care about what he is?

Were fae always against humans? Or is this the sad aftermath of the war we see in Book 7?

Since we only see Sebek interact with Fae he respects, how does he act with others? Is he desperate to be accepted or what?

If Yuu and the other humans in this event are rejected by his community, will Sebek defend them or join in the ridicule in hopes of being accepted by those around him?

What is his dynamic with his father? Is he openly hostile towards him (similar to how he is with other humans) or is he simply more drawnback and distant?

I just want to learn more about how Sebek fits into the Briar Valley. Cause from what he's said in his Birthday Vignettes, the Briar Valley doesn't seem the most welcoming to humans (or at least relations between fae and humans). And I want to know how his existence as Half-Fae and Half-Human makes him fit into this society.

Rounded ears

Seeing the destruction and pain the Men of Steel were causing to the beloved Land of Briar, the young half-faerie started feeling worse and worse. She was half human, she couldn't escape this fact and her rounded ears always reminded both her and everyone else around her. She hated them. Why couldn't she just be born a pure blood fae? Or just have ears like them so she wouldn't look so out of place! If only they would look..pointed...

Her hand unconsiously reached for the knife that rested on her belt in a desperate last resort, not even thinking about what she was about to do. Just a few snippets here and there and she could look just like them. The blade glinted in the reflection of the round mirror she was staring at blankly with tears violently streaming down her face, her mind only playing the static of hatred. Hatred of herself as her hand slowly raised the weapon closer and closer to those cursed round ears. It'll only hurt a little..The cold feeling of the blade's tip touched her pale skin when..

A hand clasped onto her wrist tightly, pulling it back from going any further. She immediately snapped out of the trance of this terrible idea as she looked back at the person who stopped her.

,,G-General?"

,,What do you think you're doing with that knife?"

Lilia's tone was cold but she could still sense the underlying concern in it. She swallowed back the tears of rage as she stared into his blood red eyes.

,,Do you really think mutilating yourself will make everything better?? Why would you even do such thing, are you out of your mind?!"

,,I can't stand me..why do I have to be related to them??"

The general could see and hear the self-hatred that emitted from her. Of course, she was always indirectly shunned for being born this way even though she couldn't help it. It was never her fault yet others made it out to be. He tossed the knife aside from her grip and placed his hand on her shoulder as he crouched to her level.

,,You might have their features but you are not like them. No matter what anyone says, no matter what I might say, you are one of us. You are one of the Royal Guards of Briar Valley and Meleanor holds you in high regard. Don't try to change the impossible, live contently with it."

His words even suprised Lilia himself with how motivational and comforting they were. He never thought he could do this. But it sparked something in the young soldier. A sense of warmth..contentment. For the first time since she was born, she felt alright with herself. Lilia was right, her heritage doesn't define her. What she makes herself out to be does..

The feeling that all the times I have written made-up lyrics and poems for Diasomnia is culminating in this one moment of me actually being able to sing out the Briar Valley BGM seriously I love this piece so much _:(´ཀ`」 ∠):

Author’s note: These lyrics are mostly written with the image of a folk song wishing for peace in mind. But then I tried to incorporate the ideals of Malleus, Lilia and Silver into the song. For example, “stay awake” and “keep the way home in your eyes” are meant to be a direct reference to Silver trying to find his way back to reality in book 7 chapter3. The line about “fathers” alludes to Lilia, while the line about “mothers” kind of alludes to Malleus’s mother in my personal headcanon. The overlapping lines and the last verse both creates a contrast between Malleus’s and Silver’s way of dealing with Lilia’s departure in book 7. Ultimately this was just a really really emotional piece for me where I combined a whole lot of personal interpretations and stuff, I really hope you enjoyed...! 🙏🏻
