So the more I think about a sequel to The Pied Piper of Central City, the more I think it would have to be two sequels
One that would be a bit of a bad guy wins type thing a la Empire Strikes Back. Kinda (that's the vibe anyway)
One that would be Good Guys win the war type thing with Eobard getting his final defeat and having to stew in it.
So sequel a.)
Eobard escapes from jail and ditches the Harrison Wells persona, manages to complete the accelerator quickly (don't wanna give too many spoilers but I do have a plan for this already) and sets it off. Hartley, Cisco, and Ronnie manage to keep it from blowing up the city and a bit of foresight of moving some of the controls out of the pipeline before STAR Labs was closed means that no one. And while there's no coma for Barry, there's hints of his speed given. So while they save the city from going boom, Eobard got exactly what he wanted.
Sequel b.)
Barry's the Flash now and there's been a time skip since the last fic. And he and Hartley are Central City's favorite vigilantes. Iron Heights has a meta wing. It's actually going fairly well for them all said. A couple of the rats have meta powers. (If Eobard gets a meta gorilla in canon, then Hartley gets some meta rats in fanon. Only fair. hehehe)
And Eobard is not having a good time of it because of something that I will be setting up in sequel a that is now paying off. And unfortunately this is where my ideas fall apart. :/
I'm still workshopping it. But at least my brain has made more progress on figuring stuff out. And I've decided Gideon's gonna be a much more active character going forward.
I still can't guarantee any of this will get written, but I'm definitely gonna try.

What made you ship it?
Fics, honestly 😂 the show doesn't give us much beyond the animosity. I wish we'd seen more of s2 Hartley though, Hartmon could definitely work with that as a jumping-off point!
What are your favorite things about the ship
The enemies to lovers appeal is strong with this one imo! And I like to think they bond in the wake of Barry rewriting the timeline in s2, become friends, then roommates, then realize they've fallen for each other 💞
Is there an unpopular opinion you have about your ship?
If a ship fic doesn't include Hartley apologizing to Cisco for how he initially treated him, or a mention that he's apologized and Cisco forgave him, I'm side-eyeing that fic

Carolyn Hartley from Mobile, AL wrote on January 18. 1999, 17:31: I was a Cowsill fan more years ago than I care to remember. I have pictures that I took at a concert in Pensacola, FL in about 1971. I have a closeup of Barry doing his Mick Jagger imitation, wearing red longjohns, a feather boa, and an "Uncle Sam" hat. Some of the best memories I have of those days have a Cowsills soundtrack. I'm so pleased to have discovered that members of the family are still performing, especially Barry...! had a huge crush on him for years!
BARRY: Carolyn Hartley - consider it just yesterday and don't age yourself so accordingly to they years gone by. Again remember, time is a trick - it was only yesterday that you saw me... even though I don't think I'd fit into the red longjohns anymore. Besides I've become more of a Keith than a Mick these days. I'm grateful for the good memories - Its been a pleasure.
