Autiagender

Autiagender is a gender identity which is a sublabel of autigender and agender.

For those who feel like their autism is what leads them to the identity as an agender person, or directly impacts it, or just think both fit them and like the combination.

For those who may not know, autigender is a gender which is defined to be: A gender that could only be understood from being autistic, or a gender for those who their autism effects their gender.

Autigender can stand alone, but can be used with other genders. Which is how we get the autiagender lable.

So far I haven't found much information on this particular label, but on reddit I found this wonderful flag. The the autiagender flag is the agender flag as the background with the black infinity symbol from the autigender flag, in the middle.

This identity can be used by any autistic person (self diagnosed, and with an official diagnosis), as long as they feel like it is right for them.

It can't be used by those who are not autistic!

Xenotypes & Xenotemps

A xenotype is a nontraditional neurotype - one that exists outside of medically recognized neurotypes. They can be coined with a variety of prefixes/suffixes, but the most common will be the prefix "neuro-" or "neur-".

Examples might be neurocat, neurodoll, neurohope, neurotwispark (Twilight Sparkle from MLP), neurosub, neurevoluntionary, neurinertia, and so on. They can also be related to recognized neurotypes, such as dragautism (dragon autism) or Narcissusism (Narcissus narcissism). They can also be related to other identities - such as lesborderline or plurADHD or mexicantisocial, though these should be handled with care and coined/used by people of those identities.

Your xenotype can have any relationship to the object/concept/being it's named for. It can be entirely literal (having the neurology of a cat), entirely metaphorical (having a neurotype that is cat-like), or anywhere in between.

Anything can be a xenotype, the only specific thing is that a xenotype is intended to refer to permanent neurological phenomena - much like autism or ADHD in traditional neurotypes.

Which brings us to xenotemps!

Xenotemps are like xenotypes, except they are temporary. They can be anything a xenotype can be, but much like depression or even psychosis, they are transient. They may, like depression or psychosis, be reoccuring though.

It is entirely up to individuals to determine whether their experience falls under a xenotype or a xenotemp. There can definitely be terms that are both! The main point of this is to create community-based self-IDs, as atypical neurotypes are so deeply medicalized by a massively ableist psych system.

For this reason, we ask that no one excludes any good faith term coined under this label, and that good faith is assumed of coined terms until conclusively proven otherwise. We also ask that if bad faith terms are coined, that no one harasses anyone and simply blocks the coiner if they find a bad faith label.

The point is just to have fun and take back self-determination of a highly medicalized set of identities. But these also coexist alongside the medical identities, for those that find them useful.

Xenotypes and xenotemps can be considered a form of neurodivergence, but they are open to people who are considered neurotypical by more standard rules.

Xenokintypes, if such a thing exists, are welcome to be a related label or sublabel! I am otherkin but just haven't seen xenokintypes so I'm not sure how that would work.

hello! i have only gotten one or two crushes in my life and I’m 17.. is that normal for allo people to experience? as for each crush too I’ve struggled engaging in any romantic acts or getting in a relationship in the first place bc of fear/shame/guilt/sometimes ick or disinterest feelings. ive also made up crushes before bc of my lack of them. I can’t imagine myself in romantic situations with anyone else besides my current partner even fictional characters and especially not after having a long emotional connection but even then likely not. i often don’t really feel much romantic attraction I think and sometimes it fades out into nothingness but sometimes I have bursts of it and do like imagining/doing romantic things with my partner. Could that just be allo or can I call that aro/aro spec? however I also am autistic and disordered in other ways that could hinder feelings of love/care towards others… so does it mean thsi can still be aro?

These are all good questions, and I have answers!

First, having only 2 crushes by 17 can be an allo experience, but it can also be an arospec experience. Overall, it's a fairly neutral experience. I know both allo and arospec people who share that experience.

Next, you mentioned struggles engaging in relationships out of fear, guilt, and shame, which aren't typical reasons not to want relationships, but tend to come with trauma surrounding relationships or those feelings. For example, growing up, I was constantly told that relationships before the age of 18 were horrific and incredibly not allowed, and that relationships with people outside of specific requirements would have dire consequences. I then felt guilt and shame and fear around relationships and romance, but most people (allo or aro) don't experience those specific feelings unless they have some sort of trauma regarding romance or relationships. However, you also mentioned icky feelings and disinterest, which are much more aro experiences than allo ones.

The rest of what you went on to describe does sound pretty arospec to me, and I suggest looking into some arospec sublabels if you'd like a name for the feeling, such as arospike or aroflux.

Autism does not prevent you from being aromantic, and a lot of autistic people who have difficulties with relationships and understanding emotions relate to the arospec community and may identify as aromantic because of that difficulty, which is totally valid. If you feel it suits you, then go for it.

Alterhuman as a label is an umbrella term for every kind of diverse relationship to humanity and nonhumanity one might have: voluntary and involuntary, people who still identify as human in some way and those that don’t, spiritual, psychological, archetypal, otherkin and kith/hearted and synpaths and copinglinks and multiplicity and daemonism and everything else under the sun. It’s deliberately a broad term, just like queer, or how neurodiversity/neurodivergence isn’t just autism and ADHD (though people treat it that way) but is meant to include epilepsy and cerebral palsy and parkinsons and cognitive disabilities and literally any way a brain can be different. For that exact reason, I really appreciate Alterhuman as a term. In the face of linguistic confusion and blurring of labels, I’ve seen a lot of otherkin and therians make the argument that “[copinglinks/kith/etc.] are just as valid, they’re just not otherkin”. While that’s true, it doesn’t do much to actually support those communities, and there are still folks that treat those labels as kin-lite. The label alterhuman kind of puts the money where one’s mouth is for that argument by creating a term and community that includes all of the above. In other words, it’s all well and good to say “you’re not this” but it helps a whole hell of a lot to also say “you are this”. And while I encourage people with specific sublabels to create, embrace and engage with those more specific sub communities, it also helps to recognize that there is still overlap and similarity between the different identities. Sometimes, I find it nice or helpful to be in a therian-dedicated space. Other times, I still find community and solidarity with folks that are otherlinks, or otherhearted, or synpaths, or have voluntary identities! Both types of community matter. For everyone, but especially for questioning folks who might need to see the whole buffet before they can identify where they belong in it. Or for the people that don’t have a more specific label, but know their identity is somewhere a little to the left of humanity. So yes, I identify as alterhuman, and I engage in alterhuman spaces, and I value alterhumanity as a broad concept. I connect to it through my therianthropy, sure. But it’s also a space to talk about my daemonism, my voidpunk identity, and even animistic spiritual beliefs. It’s a wonderful community and I’m glad it exists.

Idk if you’ve gotten a response on your wondering if former diagnoses that aren’t considered autism are Just Autism or Still Different Under Autism Spectrum Disorder. Yes and no? Some insurance groups keep sublabels of old diagnoses, but that doesn’t mean they’re actually different.
