It's modern au and nmj is not dead but jgy and nhs hold the last life's memories and ahaksksks yeah they hate each other.
But there's more important stuff waiting to happen. Like WangXian. It's the OTP. We need to make it happen.
NHS: they are so fucking stupid yao-ge. How was it easier to make it happen when wwx was dead???
JGY: let me show you how it's done. *Continues to fail for the next 5 attempts* what the fuck is wrong with them??? A-sang how do you deal with this???
LXC: oh they are getting along very well.
NMJ: *pretty sure he just saw them try to stab each other at least once today but has no proof cause they smiled at him sweetly* .... yeah.

~ The Hunter And The Hunted ~
When he opened his eyes, Montgomery Scott was utterly confused. He looked at his surroundings. Where the heck was he?
It appeared to be... an old cabin. The Scotsman furrowed his brows and shook his head. A mistake. Almost instantly he was rewarded by a feeling of dizziness.
And suddenly he remembered something.
A blow to the head. Someone had knocked him out!
He had been out in the national park, taking a long walk after an exhausting week where he had worked non-stop. The nature and tall green trees, just a short drive away from San Francisco, always reminded him of his home. He really missed Scotland from time to time, but he was also happy about his new life at San Francisco. The opportunity of a good job had just been too tempting. And after the death of his grandfather he had really needed a new start.
Still, whenever he missed his bonnie home, he drove out to the national park to go for a hike.
This time however, it wasn't too relaxing.
Scotty took another look around. There was a window close by. It was dirty, but he caught a glance of the trees. A single door led outside; it looked quite shabby.
There wasn't much furniture. Just a bed, a closet, a table and a chair.
A chair the Scotsman was sitting on, wrists and ankles tied to it. He tried to pull at his restraints. The rope wasn't too tight. Maybe he could actually manage to break free.
For he sure as hell didn't want to meet the one who had knocked him out and had taken him to this place.
As soon as the engineer noticed that moving his wrists itself wasn't enough, he tried his best to move his upper body forward. He was lucky enough to catch the end of the knot with his teeth and, as if by miracle, he actually managed to loosen it.
When his wrists were eventually free, the Scotsman took care of untying his ankles too and slowly, as not to cause the dizziness again, he got to his feet.
He searched his pockets, but of course his phone and purse had been taken.
For a moment he considered to cry out for help, but then again he feared that whoever had taken him, wasn't too far away. He didn't want to draw attention.
Quietly, Scotty made his way over to the door and he let out a relieved sigh when he was able to open it and step out of the cabin.
He carefully looked to the left and to the right, but there was no one to be seen. So the engineer got moving. At first he walked really slow, then he got faster and faster. He needed to get away from this place. As quick as possible!
His feet carried him through the park and he tried to catch a glimpse of the sky through the dense tree tops. The sun was going down. He needed to find a pathway before it got too dark.
Scotty was just about to take a break and catch his breath when suddenly he heard a strange sound behind him.
He turned around and saw two huge dogs. For a moment hope spread through him, knowing that if there were dogs the owner couldn't be too far away, but when he heard the sound of growling, he knew that these lads weren't too kind.
"H-hey there, calm down, w-will ye?"
The Scotsman raised his hands in a soothing manner, but when the dogs suddenly lunged at him, he started to run again.
His lungs were burning and he gasped for air while he tried his best to block out the dizziness at the same time.
He saw the root on the ground too late and seconds later his body hit the floor roughly.
Scotty yelped in pain as he felt his ankle twist in an unnatural way. He swore under his breath, trying to get back up again.
The sound of the dogs closing in could be heard behind him and he knew that he needed to get to his feet and run on if he wanted to live.
A groan escaped his mouth when he fell flat onto his nose again. His ankle hurt way too much for him to stand on it.
And suddenly they were there.
The dogs.
They jumped at him and Scotty tried his best to protect his head and face, begging for them to stop.
However, the dogs didn't even get the chance to scratch or bite him, for suddenly someone whistled in a short distance.
The dogs instantly left Scotty alone and hurried to get to who had to be their master.
Slowly, the engineer managed to roll onto his back and he saw a tall dark-haired man stepping closer.
He closed his eyes, sighing in relief. A human! Someone who could help him!
"Oh, thank goodness. I think yer dogs mistook me for prey."
The man came to a halt in front of Scotty and he tilted his head from one side to the other. Slowly, a smile formed on his lips.
"Oh no, Mr. Scott, they haven't mistaken you. They knew exactly who to hunt."
Scotty's heart skipped a beat and his eyes widened when he saw the man pull out a familar purse from his jacket's pocket. It... was his own!
He shook his head in disbelief. No... no, no, no. This was the man who had taken him!
Hectically, the Scotsman rolled back onto his stomach and tried to pull himself forward. He knew that it was hopeless, that he didn't stand a chance, yet still he had to try. He couldn't give up just like that.
"Help! Help me! I need help! Hel-"
The dark-haired man was sitting on his back in an instant and only moments later, the engineer's mouth was gagged by some piece of cloth.
"It was way too easy to catch you, but... you'll still make a great hunting trophy."
Scotty cried into his gag when he heard the deep voice next to his ear. He squirmed and lashed out wildly, but it was of no use.
His kidnapper just got to his feet, grabbed the Scotsman's injured ankle and pulled him along, dragging him across the floor.
Then he whistled for his dogs again.
"Let's get back, boys. You deserve an extra treat. Perhaps a nice piece of juicy meat."
The traces of fingernails could still be seen in the earthy soil a few days later, but there was no trace of the engineer Montgomery Scott. He had disappeared, as had the mysterious dark-haired man and his dogs. After all, there were many more hunting grounds in the country.

Accidental Warlord modern AU?
Anyone already got heds/ideas on how inexplicifics' AWAU gonna look loke in the future?
Not just 5/10/20-year timegap (thought they might be interesting too!), but a couple of centuries up ahead.
I wanna know more about modern Continent, and how the Wolf Lands existed throught rises and falls of other kingdoms. Are they still intact, or it's just a bunch of memories like Roman Empire to us nowadays? And what about Wolf Law? Do they still have Ciri as immortsl warlady-sorceress-witcher, or she became tired at some point and decided to step out of world arena? Do Geralt and other witchers still live, or it was (obviously) too much even for their mutated bodies to last that long? (maybe only Geralt and his loves wll last, cept alive both by his doubled mutations and Ciri's willingness not to let her dads fade into oblivion?)
Exist witchers at all in this modern Continent (aka magic and monsters and sorceress still being whidespread), or it looks basically like our worls just with another history and background, all magical creatures long gone and considered just fairytales for children?
I wanna hear your ideas about this!

Magnificent Seven - Thick As Thieves
@flufftober day three! Thich as thieves and we’re going for a friendship theme this time!
OC mentioned in this one
Day Three: Thick as Thieves
Vasquez would be the first to admit: he didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of understanding Joshua and Jacob’s friendship. For the brunet, the fact that the man had once worked for Bogue and had kept critical information from his husband was enough to make him distrust the man– no matter the fact he’d been a part of Bogue’s downfall, this time around.
But it was very clear that the two men were close; if Vasquez didn’t know better, he’d think they might have once been together, romantically. (Actually, he had, and when he’d brought it up to Joshua, the redhead had laughed for almost half an hour, much to Vasquez’s annoyance). Instead, Joshua had been quick to reassure his husband that, no, he and Jacob had never been together in any way, and their relationship was strictly platonic. They might have had a rocky start (and that was a story Vasquez still wanted), but they were only friends.
As the months and years went by, every time Vasquez thought he understood the duo’s friendship, he was thrown for a curveball and left starting at square one. What he did know was:
Jacob was, in a sense, both Joshua’s right- and left- hand man when it came to managing things on the ranch and in town. People knew who he was and who he worked for, but he wasn’t well known enough that he could fly under the radar if needed. There was a bond of trust between them that stemmed from their shared pasts working for the government, but no less under the radar assignments. Jacob had worked intelligence; Joshua had been the one to use that information. Having only known one another for about six years, they were a terrifying duo when they worked together, truth be known. Jacob had proven himself to Joshua time and time again, and Vasquez knew the man had a deep sense of loyalty towards the redhead, for Joshua offering him the chance to get his life right– and Joshua had never, ever exploited that. Hell, they could share looks that were full conversations. From what Vasquez could tell, Jacob either did something without being told, or if Joshua said something in passing, the task got done. The same worked in reverse.
One such example of their friendship: the present moment.
Joshua’s phone had gone off at three in the morning, interrupting what was a rather peaceful slumber for the married couple; Joshua slept light to begin with and Vasquez worked long shifts at the hospital. The redhead answered it as Vasquez let out an annoyed growl.
“Someone had better be dead or dying.” A pause, as Vasquez lay half-asleep, burrowed in the covers and listening, “Jake? What the hell man, what’s the emergency– you what.” Here, Vasquez cracked an eye open, grimacing as Joshua shifted in bed and turned the bedside light on. Joshua’s tone had become annoyed and exasperated, “Do I want to know the reason behind why you’re calling me from a holding cell? … Of course, you did. Yeah, no, I’ll be there in a little while. Just stay cool.”
Joshua hung up and let his head fall back onto the pillow with a groan. His phone clattered back onto the tabletop.
“Jake got arrested?” Vasquez asked.
“Yeah,” Joshua’s voice was muffled.
“And now you need to go bail him out.”
“I almost want to make him wait until after I drop Alena off at school.”
Vasquez huffed, bemused, and curled up against Joshua’s back.
“But you won’t. Go on, querido, I’ll take our girl to school this morning.”
“Vas, no, you just came off a thirty-six–” Joshua craned his head around.
“Hush. Just tell Jake he owes me a favor and get it over with.”
“Sorry, darlin’,” Joshua murmured and turned to press a kiss to Vasquez’s curls. “Go back to sleep. I’ll catch up with you later.”
Vasquez let out a sleepy hum as Joshua killed the light and ventured seamlessly, blindly, through their bedroom to get dressed.
If there was one thing Vasquez had learned over the years, it was that Joshua and Jacob were thick as thieves and, when it came down to it, they had each other’s backs. And he was fine with that.

Bon Appetit test kitchen AU. Family run Bridgerton test kitchen is headed by Anthony Bridgerton. Not all the Bridgertons are part of the test kitchen. Daphne is know for her baking, Francesca is in culinary school but often makes appearances, Hyacinth and Gregory are the taste testers. Benedict is behind the camera, Colin does food tours around London. Anthony didn’t want to be on camera but is forced to due to his popularity. Kate joins the test kitchen and adds some much needed flavor much to the chagrin of Anthony. Edwina also joins as a a baker. Viewers can’t help but notice the sparks when the two are not only seen fighting on camera but in the background of other videos. Poor Edwina was just trying to make lemon meringue pie on camera but kept getting interrupted by Kate & Anthony arguing in the background.

Eddie finally lets Jeff talk him into going on this blind date. It's not like he's against dating, he just doesn't expect fireworks from an hour of small talk over an overpriced dinner, y'know? Jeff swore by this guy, though, assuring Eddie that they would hit it off, but Eddie will never know because the guy doesn't show.
That's right, he gets stood up, Jeff texts him a string of apologies saying the guy chickened out. So Eddie’s just sitting there alone, trying not to sulk when the waitress asks if he's still waiting to order. Fuck it, he refuses to be the most miserable person in the restaurant, looking around to find someone equally as pathetic, and lo and behold:
Three tables away, there's a guy getting dumped.
Eddie eavesdrops because he has nothing better to do. It’s a pretty standard breakup. Sounds like they haven't been together long and things fizzled out. Neither of them seem to be invested enough to try and salvage it.
"Aren't you gonna say anything, Steve?"
No, Steve isn't. He just sits there while his former boyfriend leaves, doesn't try to stop him at all. Not in a hardened douchebag way, but in a dejected 'why do I even bother' way that Eddie knows all about.
And well, Eddie might be a cynic but his curiosity isn't dead. This Steve is far too pretty to be getting dumped in a seafood place and Eddie has to know what the deal is. It leads him right over to Steve's table. He looks up at Eddie, not quite dead behind the eyes yet, but maybe a little lonely. Just needs a spark.
"Alright well, something tells me that a stranger bugging you won't be the worst thing to happen to you tonight, so I'm just gonna take this empty seat and maybe we can help each other figure out why we're both alone on a Friday night. What do you say?"
Steve blinks, a little taken back at first, then he matches the nonchalance that Eddie's so good at faking with a smirk and a shrug, "Depends. Do you have all night?"
Turns out, Jeff was right about one thing, Eddie does hit it off with someone and it doesn't take all night. They leave the restaurant together, spend hours just walking the town and even breaking into a park after hours. It's the most fun Eddie's had in a while, and even though he doesn't get a goodnight kiss just yet, he gets a second date, which is even better.
He walks home with a skip in his step and a fire in his belly that he hasn't felt in years. He never thought he'd be so glad to get stood up before.

June of Doom Day 6
6. “You’re doing great.”
| Injection | Nightmare | Duct Tape |
TW: kidnapping, stalking, psychopath, graphic depiction of violence, blood and gore, major character death, skinning
A/N: Alternate Universe - Modern Setting
~
The day had been way too long and Montgomery Scott just wanted to get home. It wasn't like anyone was waiting for him, but he was looking forward to a glass of Scotch and his comfy bed.
The way from the shipyard to his car wasn't very far, but at this time of the day nobody was around anymore. It was dark already and Scott couldn't help a strange feeling in the pit of his stomach.
He glanced over his shoulder from time to time, couldn't shake off the feeling that someone was watching him.
Just before he reached his point of destination, he suddenly bumped into someone, who was getting out of his vehicle. The Scotsman made a startled noise and turned his head to look into blue eyes.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, sir. I wasn't paying attention," the man in front of him quickly apologized, but Scotty just shook his head.
"N-no, it's okay, laddie. I... was distracted, too."
Scott looked over at his car which was now only a few feet away from him. He just had to get in and drive home. But... the man in front of him seemed strangely familiar.
"Uhm, I'm sorry. Do we know each other?"
A smile formed on the dark-haired man's face as he nodded.
"Yeah, I think so. Aren't you at the local pool every Monday and Wednesday?"
Yeah... right! Scotty remembered. He often took a swim after work. So did the other lad.
"And Friday," Scotty added and his counterpart nodded.
"Right. That's where we've seen each other before. So... you work here?"
The man eyed Scott from head to toe and noticed the work clothes.
"Yeah, at the shipyard. Today was my long day, but tomorrow I have a day off. Guess we'll see each other at the pool then?"
Another glance at his car. As much as he liked talking, Scotty just wanted to get home.
"Sure, Mr. Scott."
Scotty tried to pass the man, but only a moment later, he stopped in his motion and turned back around, eyes narrowed in confusion.
"How do ye..."
And suddenly there was a sharp pain in his neck, as something was being injected into his bloodstream. Scott felt dizzy almost instantly and his voice got slurred, as he finished his question.
"... know me name?"
His legs gave away beneath him and he slumped forward into his counterpart's arms.
Then everything went dark.
++++++++
When Scotty opened his eyes and tried to move, he noticed that he couldn't. Panic gripped his heart and he pulled at his arms, but his wrists were tied to the massage table he was lying on.
Somehow, the Scotsman managed to raise his head and look around. He was in some sort of basement. There were no windows, just cold grey walls. The room was illuminated by a cool bright light.
He wanted to scream out, but it was muffled by a gag in his mouth. Tears filled his eyes as he once again tried to free himself, but only increased the pain on his wrists that way.
And suddenly, Scott heard a door opening, followed by slow steps entering the room.
"Oh, you're awake already? I wasn't expecting that."
Scotty tried to move his head, but couldn't look over his shoulder. However, he noticed the voice.
It was the man he had bumped into! Right... he had injected something into his neck!
Some muffled noises escaped the Scotsman's mouth and he tried to break free once more, failing horribly again. Hopeless, he dropped his head into the hole in the table, especially made for the face.
"Shh, it's okay. Save your strength. You won't escape anyway, Mr. Scott."
Scotty heard the man sitting down on a rolling stool and suddenly he was right next to his head, running a hand through Scott's hair.
"You see, I've been watching you for quite some time, Mr. Scott. From the moment I first saw you, I knew that you were perfect."
Scotty turned his head to the side, so he could glare at his captor. The man just smiled at him.
"I suppose I should introduce myself, shouldn't I? After all, we'll spend the last hours of your life together."
At that, Scott's eyes widened in horror. He shook his head, only the slightest bit and whimpered.
"There, there." The man gently patted his head. "Don't be sad."
He rolled away, only to return with a huge knife. The shaking of Scotty's head got even more vigorously.
"My name is Khan Singh. I work as a physiotherapist. I often visit the pool with my patients. That's how I got my eyes on you."
Scotty didn't understand. What did that man want from him?
"You see, my job can get quite boring, so... I searched for a hobby. And I found it quite quickly. In my free time... I'm an artist."
Khan disappeared from Scott's field of vision once again and the Scotsman flinched when he felt the man touching his back.
"Let's get rid of that dirty shirt first, shall we?"
Scotty tried to breath slow, but it wasn't easy. He felt the knife cut through his clothes and only moments later his back was bare.
"Your pale skin... is the perfect canvas. No scars, no discolorations. I can draw whatever I like."
Thin fingers ran across his skin and Scotty shivered at every single touch. The hand was cold.
"During work I always have to put on gloves, but here? Here I can feel perfect soft skin beneath my fingertips. I can feel every single muscle. It's... just lovely!"
Khan's hands ran up and down Scott's back and the dark haired man let out a satisfied sigh.
"First of all, I will clean your skin. Wouldn't want any dirty pores now, would we?"
Scotty closed his eyes and tears escaped. He needed to get out! He needed to escape from this psychopath! But he knew that he didn't stand a chance.
A warm wet cloth was rubbed across his back, however, he still felt cold. The fear made his blood freeze and he tensed.
"Shhh, don't be scared. You're doing great," a deep voice whispered.
Scotty sobbed. He didn't want to die!
When Khan was done cleaning his back, he once again rolled away and Scotty heard the sound of a metallic clang.
"There we go. This one's perfect for the start."
Khan rolled back and showed Scott what he had picked.
A scalpel! It shone in the light of the lamps.
"Red is the most gorgeous color, don't you agree? And... there's only one shade of red, I adore like no other."
Scotty closed his eyes and when the blade cut through his skin the first time, he screamed in agony.
He felt every single line, Khan drew. And with every cut, his screaming got louder.
Until finally, Scotty's captor stopped and sighed heavily.
"I would be very grateful if you could cease the noises. I can't focus."
There it was again. That horrifying smile in front of Scott's face. It looked polite and begging.
"Or... I have a better idea."
Khan rolled away and only a moment later, music filled the room. The sound of strings and trombones. A classical song.
"Ahh, that's better."
++++++++
Scott didn't know for how long he endured the horrible pain. Screams and cries were drowned out by the music.
He knew that no one would come to save him. And Khan knew it, too. After all, Scott had told him himself that it was his day off. No one would miss him at work.
When the music finally stopped, Scotty was already about to pass out from the pain. Still, he heard Khan's voice which was filled with pride.
"It's done! You did a great job, Mr. Scott. Thank you so much."
Through blurry eyes, Scott saw his captor's face in front of him. A bride grin stretched from cheek to cheek.
"Now, I know that most of my guests die from the pain of the next step. But I like you, Mr. Scott, so I'll save you from your fate first. You won't have to go through the skinning."
The Scotsman wanted to say something, wanted to swear and cry and spit into Khan's face. But he couldn't.
When the blade cut through his throat and all pain stopped, the last thing he saw was Khan's grateful face.

I imagine them to be a happy family in the modern AU where Fengxian and Lakan are married and Lahan and Maomao are their children. Fengxian would be strict but she very much dotes on her kids (just not as obviously as Lakan, but who can compare with Lakan).
I feel like Lakan would be a lawyer which would put his skills to use, whereas Fengxian would be an academic in mathematics, and of course they're both super good at xiangqi and go in different ways. (I'd like to think Fengxian taught Lahan a lot of maths when he was younger and that encouraged his love for the subject).
