And, with everything in pocket, they finally arrived at the store -- where I promptly had them stand outside in the rain for a while while I dumped a bunch of their money into the place and spent a good chunk of time doing a bit of remodeling! Namely -- remember how, in a previous update, I complained about not having enough processing space, but didn't want to make the store significantly bigger? And then remembered in the tags that basements exist?
Welcome to the new Van Liddelton Groceries employee break room and basement processing center! XD Yes, I decided that the best way to get more space for everything I wanted was to go down and expand THERE. So the previous processing room was turned into a chill out area for the trio and any future employees they may have (complete with fridge and microwave for meals, some seating, a bookcase for those who like to read, and a TV for those who like to watch -- it still feels a little unfinished and empty to me, but I'll figure it out as we go along), and all the processing stuff was moved into the basement area! Now they have a nice long kitchen with plenty of counter space and TWO fridges and stoves to play with; two bulk processing machines; the juice fizzer and the cupcake machine; a cauldron for Victor should he want to to make potions while on the lot (once he actually learns a few more recipes); and -- well. I know it looks like a science bench. . .
But it's actually an APOTHECARY bench. Because that's one of the mods I downloaded from @simsonianlibrary -- The Apothecary Kit! This mod allows a Sim to make gummies based on herbalism recipes, and tablets based on Scientist serums -- you need roughly twice the amount of ingredients, but you get six gummies per bag and six tablets per bottle, so, kind of a deal? I spotted this while perusing their Patreon for a different mod (which I will get to in just a moment), and was like "okay, that'll be PERFECT for Smiler -- I was originally gonna make them a Scientist anyway to learn those serum recipes!" So now the store can have a pharmacy section too! :D
However, first things first -- we still had room on those front shelves for flower arrangements! So Smiler started making one final one of those while I sent Victor and Alice downstairs to do a little more processing and clean up any spoiled food hanging about. Alice made a few boxes of tomato sauce, then started working on milk products while Victor filled up the juice fizzer with some lemons --
And then started making some deodorizing perfume! For THAT is the mod that I originally went to Simsonian's Patreon to download -- Perfumery! Because it's another good use of all the flowers the gang grows. This mod adds a ten-level "perfumery" skill that allows you to eventually create a variety of perfumes with different effects -- mostly triggering different emotional buffs. And since they're scents, they effect not only the Sim wearing them, but any Sims who smell them (to a lesser degree. . .and, naturally, this doesn't work with the deodorant. Unfortunately. :p). I thought it might be fun to have my Sims get into, so Victor brewed up a batch of deodorant from a bunch of snowdrops and brought it upstairs...
Where I ran into a rather weird problem. Namely, the perfume just will NOT go onto the SrslySims consignment shelves I'm using in my store. Or, rather, it won't go DIRECTLY on them -- but it WILL stack onto items that are already ON the shelves (like a box of sauce, or a bag of flour). Which is -- puzzling, to say the least. It WILL go onto other custom content shelves, so I'm not sure what's going on with Srsly's. I think mayhaps I may have to make a custom display for any future perfumes! O.o
For the moment, though, the perfume went on the front counter (along with one of the spare decorative eggs from Easter -- look, all the ones in the store are duplicates, I may as well sell them), and while Smiler finished up their flower arrangement, I started Victor on another important task -- namely, seeing what in the store could be hit with Copypasto! I already know the bulk food items can't be copied, but what about animal treats? Herbalism potions? Smiler's baby robot toys? Science must know!

I was wondering if there were any canon compliant fics you could direct me to? Just casual stuff built upon the foundations of canon, maybe flashbacks of believable interactions Aziraphale and Crowley could’ve had, or a hangout set after S1 thats not necessarily romantic, but still with that lovable tension they have together in canon! A/N: I’m glad you’re okay!! Honestly I’ve been sick these past couple of weeks (I caught pneumonia and had it for a month before going to the hospital. Okay so there are five main types of love languages.
Physical touch, Words of Affirmation, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Quality Time.
I would also like anyone reading this to remember that these love languages are how you want to be loved/receive love not how you show love to others.
I do think that Rasmodius is very connected to himself
And by that I mean I think he knows himself very well, or at least he thinks he knows himself very well.
And for a long time I think he probably thought that Quality Time and Physical Touch were his main two love languages.
I mean idk if it’s canon but in my opinion I do think he cheated on the witch with Caroline
And I’m not gonna go into it here because this isn’t about them, but I think it might’ve had to do with that and his own struggles with temptations.
And I also think gift giving is canon for literally every single character in stardew because that’s the main way to befriend someone.
But I think that after marrying you/beginning to date you he realizes that his actual love language is words of affirmation.
While Physical touch and quality time are still very important to him, being with you makes him see that he really does like being praised.
Like whenever you say that he has done something well, or that you like something he has done his heart flutters as if he were a teenager again.
Especially when it comes to his magic
Like I feel like the townspeople aren’t really fond of him
And they never thank him for the things that he does whenever they actually need him for stuff
Like the haunted maze
Like they’re just talking about how weird he is and how he got it done
But they never stop and say anything that’s positive like WTF
So I think he would appreciate whenever you thank him or praise him and it would go straight to his head (which one idk 👀)
With quality time I feel like you get a lot of it after he moves to the farm
Like unless he’s working in his tower, or you’re off somewhere like in the mines
That you’re like together even if it’s spent in silence
And he loves that
Like he was super lonely before even if he doesn’t want to admit it
So just being in the same room as you counts as quality time for him.
And if you’re doing an activity that’s particularly domestic
He’s in heaven like he doesn’t wanna make it a big deal
But baking and helping you around the farm makes his heart soar.
I think in terms of how he shows love i think he would show it in acts of service and gift giving
Like oh you don’t feel well?
Don’t bother going to the clinic he’s just going to create a potion that stops you from getting sick

And while yeah this might seem like either a lot of insincere
In his mind and heart this is how he shows that he appreciates you and wants you to live a good and easy life.

He loves you and while he loves receiving attention and love he’s kinda crap at giving it in the same way because he just doesn’t really know how

Today's modding shenanigans!
Today I wanted to test out ACM a bit :D I think I'd most enjoy using it as an additional tool for making custom outfits and seeing how different item appearances work together, less as my primary tool to creating custom outfits as such (also, it is a bit buggy for me and I can't seem to export appearances reliably for some reason).
Since you can alter custom appearances with it too, though, you could definitely mod one "base outfit" and then change the colors spontaneously for a different vibe (for example, I could make an apperance for Kerry wearing one t-shirt and then change the shirt decal or color on the fly in game without cluttering his .app file with a dozen different appearances that are virtually the same just different colors!). Wondering though if there exists a resource that lists every item's appearance names (cause some are super specific and hard to guess, like... instead of "black" or "smiley-face" you have appearances like "6th street" or "black_capsules") for this purpose... and if not, I'll probably make one just because I would find it useful to have xD
Also, ACM is really neat for taking off Kerry's jewelry on the fly for certain pics XD Or changing nail colors and things like that! In all these regards this is a super useful resource as is already, but I'm excited where the mod makers will take it :D (also... random sidenote, but can we talk about Dante for a moment? I'm a little bit in love, and I need his shirt not only for Kerry but also for Vince XD).
Then some silly behind the scenes stuff xDD @netcess said that Reed really needs a party outfit with a cool hat, so I put something quick and simple together for her and... I wanted to take a pic and as I went into Photomode, Vince spawned straight across from Reed and looked so disappointed at him partying without him when so many pressing issues are at hand XD Just really fun little moment I wanted to capture, intensified by facepalm XD
Honestly he rocks it XD Might make a recolor to fit his suit when the mood strikes xD
And finally: who wore it better? XD
(giggling and kicking my feet at how his hair and beard match now :3)
No but I actually tried my hand at editing this hair mesh for Kerry, cause it was clipping a bit here and there! This is done super quick and dirty like... In theory I know I could export his headmesh and then fit it exactly to that, but for now this aint so bad already actually! :D No more clipping into the side of his head and the hairline in the front looks better. I left out Johnny's hair cap and all that because I wanted to go for a really really short, very freshly shaved look for this like...
Something he would've done at the end of his tour right before coming back to Night City. Keeping the long hair consistent for all concerts. And as I said, I 100% get why he has that look, like... It has old, seasoned rocker vibes, it's so much less clean and more himself than his 2077-appearance like... natural hair color, not styled at all, embracing himself again with the whole "I'm gonna name my next album "Kerry Eurodyne" and go back to my roots thing, he looks like he just came off stage, sweaty and tousled, so... yes!! I do love it for all those reasons, but idk... I feel like, it's also at the same time something low maintenance that he doesn't have to pay a lot of mind to, escaping into his music and career after apparently losing V. And I think with the tour over and with getting V back so unexpectedly, he'd change things up a bit again. It's a concert/tour look for me. And this style is also low maintenance, while still Kerry, still rebellious, but a little more cleaned-up, in control of his life, if that makes sense?

Especially your last point, cutting/shaving your hair to mark a new beginning is 100% such a thing he'd do!! So yeah, I think I'll stick with this for his two-years-plus-four-months-later look xD

Dragonfish Reloaded
I continue the story of the WaterFireGod, for part 1 click here
(1) Remember the gate, where the humanoid aliens came through?:
(2) It changed a lot after them humanoids arived -
(3) The second invasion started at dawn. It all happened very fast:
Some very mighty guards came through the gate...
(4) ...and them tiny fragile blossoms, that arrived earlier with the humanoids, grew within seconds into all kinds of - plants?! :
(5) At the same time, a second gate opened…
(6) … spitting out some more "visitors"…
(7) … all kinds of pretty agressive fellas!
(8) The whole garden of our little unnamed sim changed into a nightmare.
Well, he called them, and they came, right?
(9) They forced him to sit down and stay put on an alienesh-crystal-stone-stool-thingy…
(10) …and startet talking…
(11) … to their GOD! The WaterFireGod. Our well known dragonfish.
(12) Then they told our little unnamed sim, that they will return to their home planet through that portal, together with their god...
(13) … right after they solved this kind-a-tricky problem, that they just learned about from the little fish - sry, your highness, of course -
(14) Turns out, unfortunatly they can not just kill the sim, and leave with their god, as they intended…
(15) … because their god can not survive without our little unnamed sim, due to the bond that exists between them. This bond must be broken of course. Or else!
(16) (Moment of akward silence)
(17) They startet negotiating. Meanwhile it was bright daylight.
(18) They discussed during the whole day…
(19) …and also the whole next night.
(20) It turned out, there is more to the good old dragonfish than we ever imagined:
When he spits fire unterwater, while living with a sim that he has a very special bond with, the fire sinks down on the ground, and turnes into gold.
And you know what they say about dragons… they protect treasure.
Next time I will tell you:
What kind of bond the sim + the dragonfish do have,
what the sim is doing with all this gold?!,
and what the "Fisch des Grauens*" has to do with all that

Thank you, @murfeelee! Love your stuff since I played the first time with the telvanni-village, and that was on my old computer (meanwhile, this computer I´m using now is pretty old).
I will also continue the 10-things-challange, weeks ago I already picked the items for the next round - but at the moment, I want to finish that alien-story first!
And yes, I still have to finish the sorting of my mod-collection. That has highest priority, not just because I want to continue playing, but also because of this 10-things-challange I started. For both I need a well-sorted, richly filled mod-folder (lol).
Well. The last weekend I spend downloading nearly everything that Murfeelee ever published :-D ! Just the sorting of this murfeelee-collection alone will take a week, or two, or whatever it takes :-D.
I started yesterday evening with the Letter A. Today I will do the B… like in "babysteps". Like in "Baby Yoda as Teddybear", that is the first mod beginning with a "B" in my murfeel-folder.
Just imagine, this green little fella, how well he would have fit in my alien-story, if I would have known this mod a week before.

Oh NO now I need to do the tagging. I still have NO clue how that really works here on tumblr, although I always watch you other simmers out there, and try to get it.

niche crossover of the day that im too lazy rn to clean up and post to ao3 but may in the future: alec hardison (leverage) plays bg3
hardison balances playtime with hacker hours well, which means he moves through hyperfixations but has learned through working with the crew how to prioritize when there's a friend's life on the line. (there will be no more repeats of his crew sitting on a bomb without him right next to them.) sometimes though his partners lose him for a week after a new release, but now that they live together at least parker can drag him to bed for cuddles (and to sleep) and eliot will kept him fed.
it should go without saying that hardison loves baulder's gate 3. he heard such good things about it during early access from his dnd buddies, but hardison refuses to play EA because he will end up encountering bugs and basically writing the code that the devs will end up doing anyway, so why waste his time.
he plays without any prior knowledge, doesn't even know the characters really except from glimpses at their promo pics. but he's excited. he downloads the game, kisses his partners """goodbye""" for the foreseeable future (as long as a job doesnt spring up, but even then it would be a quick one because eliot sprained his ankle and needed to rest it no matter how much he complained he was good).
he decides to play his chaotic good halfling wizard mendula from two campaigns back - fresh enough in his mind to remember the character, but not too recent so that he wont feel conflicted if the tav storyline doesnt allow for precise oc characterizations. hardison gets super into it, but he doesnt linger on side quests, not yet: he wants to get a feel of the game without mods and follow its arc. hardison doesnt usually romance on a first playthrough, but wyll!!!!! wyll was right there being perfect and beautiful and righteous and black and bi and yeah, hardison had to fan himself off during the dance sequence
his party is wizard tav, shadowheart, wyll, and lae'zel, and barely switches them out. when astarion drains him dry and kills him, hardison is so annoyed he kills astarion. he feels very proud of himself when he sniped wyll's devil karlach without much fuss. then he skips a lot of the companion sidequests because he just wants to rush to the end. he gets married to wyll, then starts right over and plays wyll origin, now able to take his time and understanding the mechanics of the game. he also downloads QOL mods that have already come out for EA, and he has notes about ones he will make if no one else does when he's ready for playthrough #3. he purposefully avoids any major ones (so no Polyam Mod for him, though he does eye it, but he wants to see how multiple romances play himself).
he plays will as accurately as possible, which means engaging heavily with the very companions hardison spent ignoring because wyll? wyll cares (and fuck, hardison loves him for that because yes yes, that's him too!). and......
ah. okay so. maybe hardison shouldn't have ignored the companions so much since they do add a lot to the game! and..... maybe, just maybe, hardison was too hasty killing astarion and karlach the first go around. maybe a lot. he thought they would be companions for evil tavs/origins only! he played kotor and [insert game references here, i dont play games like this usually...], so he thought he knew what was up.
anyway, he is drawn so much to these two out of the novelty of them that he puts them into his party (the fourth spot he switches around, thought once hardison gets him, halsin is a fun mainstay because BEAR. hardison gets up romancing both astarion and karlach (and a little halsin, HALSIN IS SO EASY TO FLIRT WITH, larian WANTS you to fuck him)
and....... okay. okay. maybe romancing them both at the same time was a mistake because. because he loves them both. so much. for very different reasons. hardison feels so deeply and then he's forced to make a decision, and hardison crumples a bit. considers downloading the polyam mod but opts out of it to suffer vanilla game logic to its very end.
when he breaks up with astarion, who plays it so damn cool, hardison had to walk away from the computer to mourn by burying himself in his nearest partner's arms (eliot, this time).
he finishes the game, makes wyll go to avernus with karlach (as he made them do during this tav playthrough) and... thinks about astarion.
hardison had carried over the breakup scene save this whole time, and he decides fuck it, and goes back and tries it the other way this time.
he didnt know karlach will just... die on the pier. wtf. wtf. or wyll will go and there wont be any interaction with astarion?? hardison is Distraught. he downloads the polyam mod and while it doesnt force the issue, he can just feel at the edges that nope, this isnt authentic
finds partner's arms again. parker this time. she asks whats wrong with his make believe people, and he pauses for so long that parker thinks he fell asleep or didnt hear her, and then he quietly says that wyll has a heart big enough for two, a romance can be fairytale when made for three, dont they know there's nothing more beautiful than being held between by both the people you love?
parker kisses his temple as tears legit well in his eyes (and he feels embarrassed) and she yells for eliot for emergency group hugs.
eliot, with hardison squished between his two partners, usually doesnt get involved with hardison's gaming but this time he's just like, okay what is it about these characters that's getting to you like this? and why them together? who are they?
and hardison had already talked about wyll a little because disney prince. so he reiterates some of that with a major case of projection. and then when he turns to talk about the companions, hardison stops. and just.
oh.
a black man who was forced to make impossible desperate choices when he was still a teen, which got him into trouble as a consequence, and then being alone and wandering for years until he ran into a pack of different people come together for a common purpose. trying to be good, the best he could be, and hiding behind a flashy name to hide some of the more raw parts underneath. ravenguard and nana have strikingly similar cheekbones.
then theres a rogue with a deeply traumatic past who can be selfish and kinda insensitive and likes shiny things. a pale thief who likes a little bit of chaos even when running good alignment, and who can't help sticky fingers reaching for unsuspecting belts and also... well, also is a top, through and through. a top who likes to bite. vicious when upset. also... also touch adverse and who at first laughs at sincerity and then basks in it but only once your commitment is fully and well established. the only bit of code hardison wrote as he played his wyll origin was to remove astarion saying dont touch me when you switch to him; hardison flinched every time, hearing the cadence of parker's voice scratching at him when she's triggered.

script out unique banter for karlach and astarion in your party that hints of their attraction to one another
code in an extra option when astarion or karlach confront you for to prompt them to consider their own feelings for the other (different from the current but i want to be with you both! line)
a short nighttime cutscene that with dialogue that implies the three have just finished talking and have agreed to be together. they are all holding hands
include astarion and karlach in each other's act iii scenes (they arent the most chatty, admittedly, but they are there and integrated)
outside of camp, if you three are standing near each other, you can cast a spell that cuts to astarion and karlach kissing either of wyll's checks (this is admittedly somewhat buggy but!
edits out astarion cowering on the pier from the sun, just rushes the three to avernus which hardison doesnt have to edit; just uses astarion origin version for wyll.
nexusmods community begs desperately for him to do this for some other ot3s and he is willing to hear them out for shadowheart/lae'zel/tav, he absolutely refuses to break up karwyllstarion and only offers wyll pov. will not even allow for edits being made for a tav/karlach/astarion mod. he deeply pisses off some people, but overall this mod is downloaded a fuckton as the only truly viable polyam romance option in the game. people start writing fanfic specifically for this one mod and eventually it is just integrated into canon lore that karwyllstarion exists as an option

Finished my little modded run of Terraria :)
So PRIMARILY this run was testing out-
Storm's Additions and the Artificer's Accessories.
Most other mods were minor or QOL, though special shoutouts to Fargo's Paper Mario badges and the Block's Leveling mod which I'll mention briefly.
I'm not great at Terraria, I can beat it on normal no prob (like here) but expert is really challenging and I've never committed to just beating the base game on it yet, so I'm not above grabbing a mod here and there to inch things in my favor to allow me to not just hit the hardest wall in the world every single progression point lol
The latter two mods were mostly that for me.
The Paper Mario badges are all minor (to moderate) buffs and my (unskilled but experienced) judgement would be that they add up to like 3~4 accessories worth of buffs once you unlock nearly all of the BP to equip them, with a 'decent' drip feed of BP throughout progression so you can't just JUMP to having all that power ASAP.
So UNDOUBTEDLY a "Make it easier" mod but not a "Here's a broken 1 shot every boss item" mod. And considering that you have to acquire the badges, I'd say this is a pretty nice mod. Yes, you are stronger. No, you're not "Broken / Given it for free", felt more like unlocking additional accessory slots via getting BP and badges :)
If you don't mind making things easier while adding new loot to seek out for your build (that is mostly independent of your build in terms of emphasizing one playstyle or another) then I recommend! But if you're hoping it's non-impactful then uh, no, it DEFINITELY gives you a minor to moderate advantage.
Most are kinda small or not boss significant, like making enemies drop more hearts on death (without using statues this won't matter much most boss fights), but some are rather impactful (but cost most of your BP lol) like 50% defense which genuinely seems crazy but does kinda take away most of your BP.
Personally, I thought the badges felt fair. Yes, some are really strong, but they are found late game and aren't CRAZY. Some more HP, some more MP, a berserk (low HP) damage buff of 50%, 50% defense buff- there are BIG buffs in here but they often come attached with rarity and BP cost.
All in all, I enjoyed this mod but from the start to the end I always wanted "More" badges, which without checking the mod page, and considering some of the badges I DID get were ultra rare drops, I'd wager it was a grind issue and I just didn't find more to enjoy.
I'll probably continue using this one! It is lightweight in terms of impacting actual gameplay, gives me more loot to seek out, and demonstrably buffs me to better tackle many of the harder-than-vanilla content creatives like to make in their mods :D
Next on the smaller mod side was the Block's Leveling Mod, which, I won't sugar coat it, is both why I could beat the final challenge boss and is also a mod I made exactly 1 use of- during said boss lol.
The mod can explain itself more thoroughly for itself, but the short version is you can use equipment repeatedly to build XP in that weapon and make it stronger- by base options this can get to level 100 for 3x the damage (A TON!!!!). It also lets you toggle applying xp to yourself for a small (1.4x) buff.
I had the mod "on" but you have to attach a rune to a weapon to get xp, otherwise you're playing vanilla- and you have to turn on player xp for that to work- and I decided I'd only use either feature if I felt stuck.
So I actually didn't use this mod at all.... until the VERY last challenge boss of my experience. So I can't really comment on this much beyond it's "POTENTIALLY OP AS HELL", can be exploited via training dummies (lol), and can be a get out of jail card I guess?
Not a big fan of this one. Not for any fault of the creator; It's more that the concept isn't too exciting in Terraria for me, and when I sat down to actually "use" it I didn't really enjoy just messing around blindly until all of a sudden my weapons did 3x the damage and I could beat the boss easily.
Not for me, I won't be using this mod again I don't think.
Artificer's Accessories is a mod that adds some new armor based around a new "pseudo class" and a handful of accessories based on the same.
The gist of the new class being accessories as cooldown based weaponry (or tools/buffs etc). Artificer armor often come in the form of "Middling as hell buffs compared to similar progression equipment, but grants you additional accessory slots and any artificer accessories will have reduced cooldowns while wearing this".
To avoid going into too much detail, I actually really enjoy this mod.
But... maybe not exactly for the intended purpose?
I USED some artificer pieces towards the end of my playthrough, and I love that a ton of them exist, but I mostly used the armor portion of this mod because I rather enjoyed the build diversity it encouraged.
Artificer armor generally scales itself as "Lower damage output, a unique "feature", and accessories" and I found that really fun to use without actually using artificer accessories lol
My final armor set was the towers variant which more or less just granted me middling stats, 3 more slots, and a buff to damage and defense if I use an artif-accessory
But on top of that it gives an extra minion and some more life regen, altogether this let me play around with my various accessory options a lot more and find a happy medium of survivability and build freedom on what weapons I went with (I primarily Maged this playthrough).
A standout for me was when I got the alien varient, the Xeno set's main gimmick was granting me a recovering halo shield of 100 hp
which I rather enjoyed :)
But yeah, Artificer's is a mod I think I'll be continuing to use in the future as well because the accessories are 'neat' but mostly unexplored by me, and the armor is actually really nice for making hybrid builds of sorts- though perhaps on higher difficulty that stops being the case due to their defense values which most closely resemble mage armor of a similar level, though I'd argue that equals out- less magic damage but more slots etc.
And finally the meat and potatoes of this modded playthrough which... maybe... shouldn't have been the meat and potatoes but ended up being a mod I like a ton regardless: Storm's Additions.
Storm's additions adds over 300 items and I figured while it's light on bosses (3) maybe it could make for a full mod playthrough experience, and the answer to that is, "Kinda" but with an asterisk of quality.
Storm's only adds 3 bosses, that in itself means it didn't really transform the playthrough like something as immense as Calamity does but who would reasonably compare every mod to that ridiculous behemoth. What Storm DOES add is a TON of equipment EVERYWHERE.
I was using almost exclusively equipment from Storm's from about the halfway point to the very end because there's just so much good and fun stuff in there!
My biggest complaint would honestly just be that my pre-hard mode experience felt close to vanilla. This is probably due to me exploring in ways that happened to prevent me from finding fun pre-hard mode stuff, but it's what I experienced all the same.
The SECOND I hit hard mode though? BAM! AWESOME WEAPONS! AWESOME ACCESSORIES! AWESOME NEW GEAR TO MAKE! LOVED IT!
I would go so far as to say I would currently recommend Storm's to any modded playthrough as just a set of "additions" rather than the core mod you're seeking to explore.
It expands a ton of vanilla stuff in great ways, even just giving the Towers more enemy variety was nice.
And it has a ton of equipment that feels both appropriate to the progression point and REALLY FUN~! With plenty of items like accessories that I could easily see being valuable even in mods that often power scale to the extreme like Calamity can.
The bosses were all pretty well done as well. The final boss definitely feels like a calamity style "challenge" boss with a ton of phases and bullet hell patterns to learn.
As mentioned earlier, this is the closest I came to anything that can be considered "cheating" in how I defeated him. I got him to less than 1/3 health twice, seeing his second to last phase in the process, before deciding that I would give in and actually utilize the leveling mod to push myself over that wall.
What kinda sucks is I definitely could have done it without if I abused the nurse or made a better arena but I knew that going in- I chose to take the boost because I was losing interest more than anything which is my decision to make lol
And like any good challenge boss he gives an ABSURD weapon on defeat- one that can be shimmered into a different equally absurd weapon as well. Nice :)
Storm's is obviously yet another mod from this list that I think I'll simply keep on in all future playthroughs. And it's the one I think I'd most highly recommend because it really does, quite simply, only ADD to the experience with it's additions. Great mod :) But, as implied, since it's mostly adding side content stuff- equipment etc, it's not exactly a mod to frame a playthrough around like I did here- it's named correctly and should be seen as something in addition to your mod of choice- I basically just played "Vanilla....+ Storms!" which was a lot of fun! But take this info and run with it however you please :)

First things first. Hi, nice to meet you. I am assuming you are new to RPing or atleast I haven't seen any other RP threads on your blog apart from Diluc and your OC.
Could you please add a pinned post on your blog with the rules to interact with your muse (or muses if you have multiple)? It's difficult to gauge what you are and are not comfortable with. Also, it would be helpful to add information about your OC (It doesn't have to be a complete information but information such as their age, where they are from, what type of personality they have, what do they do, do they have any triggers etc would be helpful) so that my character is aware on what to expect without being surprised by their personality.
And yesterday, I felt a little off because your character was trying to be overly familiar with Diluc when they just met and it felt like you were trying to control his action (mentions of him saving her in the past - which was just sprung without any prior interactions, making him stay after he's finished escorting her back using the service cat and such). Please remember that they just met and he isn't the type to linger around for small talk (literally his voiceline).
Yes, the usual people I rp with him see a different side to him where he is more relaxed and carefree because they have been interacting with him for a long time and have earned his trust.
If there's a specific plot you are wanting to RP, please communicate with me so that both of us are on the same page instead of me wanting one thing and you wanting another (Diluc wanting to leave while Tanxiang wanting him to stay and talk). If it is just casual RPing, then please respect my character's autonomy as well because otherwise it becomes extremely ooc which I do not want to do.

yay further sura cane ramblings as a followup from this and this
so my logic is that the fall Did fuck sidestep's body up and presumably the farm's intent was to fix them up enough to be a Functional asset once wiped/reset (as far as pain's concerned and the lack of pain-gate either from being broken by the fall, or being removed, as long as it doesn't interfere with function). this was before they realised step was resisting the reset and an absurdly strong telepath to boot. so maybe there was some stuff that didn't end up happening.
anyway. sura's second escape from the farm. in a hell of a lot of pain from fucked up nerves (particularly lower back) and other things that didn't heal quite right (very much missing having a pain-gate), plus balance issues and fatigue. suddenly sura's seeing things Very differently now they're not abled + noticing a lot of people don't like looking at others with mobility aids, and maybe being useful camo. sura doesn't much Like the idea of being pitied and seen as weak, but making it easier to just be able to get through the day is worth it.
so. sura steals a nondescript folding cane from a small pharmacy (who cares, there's like, a million of em). and wow! it's not just camo, it helps with the exhaustion! great! she can even put it away when it gets inconvenient.
this also means he overcompensates the first few times learning the ropes as juno cos 1, the almost entire foot height difference and 2, reflexively moving as though putting weight on a non-existent walking aid = lotta bruises
(yes, the argos suit is kinda a mobility aid if we're being generous with definitions.)
except sura just grabbing any old cane w/o checking means they don't realize it's too tall for her for THREE. YEARS. and that causes a lot of unnecessary shoulder/upper back/wrist pain.
chen points it out during one of the early hq visits in retri while helping out, suggests to get a shorter one and maybe with offset handles. (maybe he's known a few ex-military people using canes? i feel he'd run in enough circles like that to have some passing knowledge.) and sura just. seething when they begrudgingly take up his advice and find it IS actually helping. cos chen was right and it doesn't want to admit that lmao.
at least chen has the decency not to dwell too long on it when he notices the change in canes. but he is a little smug. (it's fine. she can retaliate with useful suggestions about the new shoulder joint mod.)
but anyway, sura starts customizing the canes by painting/engraving designs on them for a little personalised touch. tech savviness comes in handy! and then there's a variety to match outfits (it counts as an accessory!) + one or two inspired by this one i saw (look at it. LOOK HOW COOL IT IS.) that that May or may not have some plausible deniability about resembling the argos suit's stained glass look lol.
(chen, narrowing his eyes, with a little "set steel_clue + 10" pop-up.)
the ones with offset and orthopedic handles for the more heavy duty days (maybe even branching out into crutches, since those give more support, though those would have to be customized) + derby handle for when they want to be more discreet. the mob crew might even pool some of their earnings to buy something resembling a makhila as a present further down the line :D
they also have two styles of cane holster, one from the belt, and the other on the thigh like what they used for the energy-caster as sidestep.
(on the viability of canes as self-defense, it's hit or miss on how good they actually are; what's good for mobility and weight distribution isn't ideal for defense - trying to hybridize the design means you get something that's not really useful in either direction. ie. telescopic stuff is convenient for folding away, but doesn't have much structural integrity if you tried swinging it at someone. same goes for folding canes w/ the bungee cord inside. idk what the capabilities in fh verse's are for materials but i'm erring on the side of caution and saying sura doesn't rely on their canes as a main defensive weapon. there's telepathy for that. they've been working out more anyway what with being argos and training daniel, so some of their pain symptoms improve a bit too! just making sure not to overdo it.)
something abt growing into not being ashamed of needing mobility aids (in fact, being empowering) and that being a sign of growth. absolute power move rocking up the hg meeting with a cane and 120 hgrep like "so? what you gonna do about it"
(too bad they immediately get bodied by a truck after leaving parkfield tho. whoops.)

08. Played any sports?
Yep! I've played both baseball and soccer when I was younger in the like youth programs and such. I wasn't much of a fan of baseball at all, it was mainly my parents making me do it as an active pastime. Soccer I enjoyed much more though! I eventually fell off with it but I have fond memories for sure.
17. Ever made out in the bathroom?
Both public and private ye. In public was at a mall and a school dance. Gotta take what you can get when you're in highschool I guess xD
21. What are your plans for this weekend?
Well sadly my back has gone out on me so I can't really do very much at all. Just gonna slowly work on some orders for cards I have and I've also been intermittently playing Tale of Two Wastelands which is a mod for Fallout New Vegas that combines it with Fallout 3. That's been a lot of fun. I've actually been surprised at how much of Fallout 3 I missed despite how much of it I played back when I was younger. I'd never been to Oasis at all, nor had I ever recruited RL-3 before. I've done pretty much every single damn thing in New Vegas though xD

Apologies
It’s been a rough day. As I said I think I had vertigo and I had to head out for a bit to get new stuff for cat and get my hair cleaned up a bit. Still a bit busy but I’m ok. I’m mostly having trouble thinking about more than one thing at a time. I have one last set of asks to do to end the arc. Then imma do some reblogs and wholesome asks on the other blogs for a little bit. Next week I may be a bit busy and week after that Imma be flying out for a bit to visit my cousins wedding Aswell as get some materials for a special gift I’ll be getting. :3c Also tomorrow gonna be just as hetic. Hopefully I’ll feel better. But I do have two pics I’ll be getting that I’m sure some of you will like. Possibly 3. We will see. Also during this arc @askchammy has been making some audio for me that I absolutely LOVE and I promise you when the time comes I WILL SHARE THEM. I just need time and one picture to make it start. First fortune cookie rec list of the year, hell yeah! I’m already a day late, but I wanted to do this post justice so I could properly and wholeheartedly wish @anaxandria-writes a very happy belated birthday! Rin absolutely deserves a shout out for not only being a fandom enthusiast, but also a creative go-getter and an amazing fandom friend.
It’s kinda crazy, because even though we’ve only known each other for maybe a couple-ish of years, it seems like we’ve been friends forever. I guess that’s what happens when we constantly scream and squee about all the things both online and offline (because yayy for being neighbors!).
Honestly, Rin’s spirit kinda reminds me of the bright rainbow we all like to see in the sky. That’s probably reflective of her excitement about a lot of things, as well as her love for loud colours and patterns (trust me, I tried to see what I could come up with for the origami spread).
We like rare pairs, and hell yes for being multishippers in multiple fandoms, and I’m super happy that we get to share not only HP as a fandom but also Teen Wolf! Yayy!
I first got to know Rin in 2021 in the Rare Pairs server, and soon enough CoMs and the Wizarding Den servers and a gazillion other servers I can’t keep track of. That probably indicates we a lot of common interests to begin with, which isn’t a bad thing. One being Flintwood, though Rin has been a big influence on why I dipped my toes in this ship. And when I’ve needed a little bit of inspo for making art or writing fic, she’s already been my go-to person for all the headcanons about Marcus and Oliver.

AND since we both adore Oliver Wood, that was how Wood Your Rather came to be as a prompt challenge since we wanted more Oliver works in general. WYR was the very first fest we both ran for fandom (and basically ever), and boy did we learn a lot about modding while also getting to know each other. I honestly couldn’t think of co-modding this event with anyone else, because one needs to really love Oliver to pieces to make something like WYR work. (P.S. stay tuned for more news on this year’s event very soon!).
When it comes to fandom, Rin has done a little bit of everything. She’s a writer and an aspiring artist (and a great cheerleader)! I love that Rin has been trying out new mediums, techniques and ways to make different projects, which is so awesome. She’s definitely an influencer on why I’m currently writing a long ass text fic now (yes, it’s addicting and fun to write in this format, and I’ve recced her fun text fic below). And the progress she’s made with drawing is mind blowing since she picked it up again early last year. She’s dabbled in traditional and digital art, and I’m so excited to see what else she makes for 2023.
Did you know Rin’s an embroiderer, crocheter and a knitter, and she makes some pretty gorgeous fanfic bookbindings? Okay, so bookbinding is NOT any easy thing to do, but Rin just jumped right into this hobby probably late in the summer and has made some really amazing books. Everything from typesetting to printing and getting things cased and pretty is a process. 8908908 kudos for doing the Lord’s work in making fics into something tangible and visually appealing to the eye. I know for a fact I’m probs going to peppering you with q’s as soon as I do have a chance to get my feet wet in bookbinding.

Yayy for epistolary fic! I love how fun these letters, and Harry going to Remus and Sirius for romantic advice. It’s sweet and endearing, and seeing Drarry from Wolfstar’s PoV through these letters is pretty hilarious, since it’s very obvious how different Remus and Sirius approach things. What a fun read!

Summary: What do you gift someone who has everything? Draco decides to make the Chosen One a.k.a. Harry Potter a.k.a. his boyfriend amigurumi versions of themselves for the holidays.
Another H/D Owl Post gift made by Rin, where Harry and Draco are cute AF as animals. They look so squishable! Since I have no crochet skills (yet..I’m working on it), I’m always impressed by folks who can make adorable and tangible creatures like this. And ones that stand up on their own...that’s super important for display purposes!

Summary: Draco spent years gathering up courage, then months of extensive planning, and literally tens of thousands of Galleons in his attempts to woo Harry. Harry just thought they were best friends.
LOL. I love Draco wooing an oblivious Harry in general. And them just being idiots. And the little cameo of Flintwood in this (yay!), and all the ridiculous attempts for the dates. This story totally pokes at the cliches, but that’s what made this fic so fun. Throw in some nosy ass friends, and of course everything seems like it’s a chaotic disaster, or in this case, a lot of misunderstandings.
I’m glad Draco and Harry get their heads out their asses eventually and get together though. It just took them a while to move out of that friend zone. *pats them both on the heads*

Summary: Dancing with Marcus Flint at the Quidditch League ceremony was not what Oliver Wood signed up for, but maybe it was what he needed.
SOOO. I know this was gifted to me, but I’m going to be very honest: When I saw this was drawn traditionally and just how well it fit the prompt, I was super giddy over it. I’m very lucky I have the original of this to look at whenever I want, but I think this was one of the first art pieces I saw of Rin’s as she was starting to dive more into drawing.
I adore Oliver’s kilt and Marcus taking the lead, and they just look happy to actually be dancing with each other, okay? This has to be a fav of mine because it embraces the fluffier side of Flintwood.

DragonKeeperCW is very interested in the show (and in Neville).
AHHH! Gosh, this one is just so much fun! I love the Youtube feel of this which makes this stand out already as a story, and Charlie and Neville are so flirty yet soft with each other. The overall humour, sexual tension and fluff mixed ogether works so well. And they’re so true their passions: Neville with his plants, Charlie with his dragons, and when it comes to each other...yessss. :D

Summary: Tony puts up a "Missing Cat" sign and not only 1) gets his cat back, but 2) meets a cute guy named Steve who keeps refusing the reward.
A story told in texts, voicemail transcriptions, and, of course, an overuse of emojis.
OKAY, I know this is not an HP fic, but I had to include this because it’s hilarious, it’s a text fic, and YES. I’m not even in the Marvel fandom, but I was really intrigued to read a fic that was completely done through texts and gosh, it just works so well with show and tell, shenanigans and I love how people’s personalities can shine through the use of dialogue through technology vs. narration or talking face-to-face.
I honestly was cackling by the time I was done with this read because it totally embraces Crack Treated Seriously to the tee. Love this so much!

I am quite literally loud in everything i do EVEN IN WHISPERS SOMETIMES, I am very random and will absolutely try to make you laugh, i literally never shut up. I will most definitely say the most out of pocket things like "exotic cricket" i spend most of my time sleeping and I'm a very heavy sleeper, I have to wake up by myself because no one else can wake me up not even sounds or water people genuinely think i died. That is admittedly a very far jump from the other matches, but I just feel like it would be a perfect opposites attract kind of scenario. He's quiet and HIGHLY introverted. I do feel like he needs a little light in his life, one that wouldn't cross his boundaries. I headcanon him to be touch repulsed, at least in case of people he doesn't know very well. You'd meet up in the inn, the cool wind of the night surrounding you as you talk his ears off. And, for the first time in a very long time, Xiao would feel at home. How did your interview go? I hope well! As for me, I won't lie, it's been a little crazy around here lately, but it's mostly settled down ^_^
There are sooo many things I really like about DCMK, and honestly with as big the fandom is I feel like there's always one little nook that's dedicated to some specific part of the show?? Butttt as for something that I cherish a lot but don't really see a lot of appreciation for, i'd probably say Haibara's relationship with the detective boys? I dunno, I think there's something that just GETS me when I think about her backstory and then I look at her goofing (or as much as what Haibara does can be considered 'goofing') around with these weird little five-year-olds.
Another small thing I kinda appreciate is how like, when the killer is revealed at the end, I never feel like the reaction they get is disproportionate to what they did? If that makes sense? I feel like with some mystery stories/anime I've seen in the past, when the killer is revealed, I feel like the surrounding characters sometimes either overreact or underreact. At least for the most part, the show is good at communicating to the audience whether a killer is 'sympathetic' or semi-sympathetic or completely deplorable. I'm not really sure if that makes sense haha, but I think it's nice because with other stories that do that a lot, it can kinda pull you out of the head space.
YESS I AM A PLATONIC RELATIONSHIP ENTHUSIAST!! Honestly, reading your ask about Vermouth is making me want to rewatch her episodes... I hope for more Vermouth in the future, and! I'm sure we'll get her backstory eventually! Right Gosho Aoyama?? RIGHT???

And thank you for asking, it actually went quite well! In fact, I started a brand new job this monday where I went for the interview, and I've been really enjoying it so far (more than I thought I would which is a very pleasant surprise).
On the other hand, yesterday one of our cars got totally obliterated, so. (Fortunately no one got hurt, the only damage we got out of it is the material sort.) Life has a way of balancing things out, I guess.
As for you, I hope things settle down further for you, and you can have some peace and time to enjoy for yourself!
And Haibara's relationship with the Detective Boys, yes, Yes, YES, I HAVE A SOFT SPOT FOR THEM TOO. I think the Elementary Squad did so much good for both Shinichi and Shiho... I'm so emotional about these two getting attached and caring for this lil group of actual tiny children but also them being friends. And the way they inspire each other. (Ai to stay and keep living and be herself, and for Shinichi learning the merit of working together and just letting himself enjoy something for the joy of it... I'm emotional...) Yes I Love.
And that is such an interesting take! I admit, I've never thought about it before, but gosh. That is such a good point. I don't feel this applies to all cases (mostly from recent ones? recent-ish?), but I definitely remember instances like this from Olde DetCo. I think, partly it's that the reactions feel genuine? Especially when the ones who are reacting to it are characters that I care about a lot: their reactions compel deep emotions in me. Gosh, now I'm going to pay more attention to this on my current reread. Thank you for sharing this thought!
Honestly? Same. At this point I always feel like rewatching/rereading anything with Vermouth (which is not much, unfortunately for me).

As for my own recs... I do have a loooot of fics that I love and adore, so... *coughs* In fact I just made an estimate yesterday that in the past year I checked out (includes fully read/halfway read/noped out of early on type of fics too) around 1000 fics (just on AO3) for DetCo, AND in my fic folder I have around 200-300 saved for reading again later, also known as the fics I got attached to... So if you have any preference (canonical romantic pairs? fandom romantic pairs? just friendship/platonic? something parental? a preferred character dynamic or characterization? a specific trope? you name it), that would narrow down my choices. :') I admit, my main focus tends to be on Shinichi/Conan, but other than that I just usually go after my gut feeling, as in what I crave at that moment, which varies a lot.

As for how I got into DCMK. Gosh. It has been so long, but I remember there was this Hungarian manga site (which is already long past; it got taken down, oh, childhood memories) when I was in my teens. At that time I was shit at English, so I consumed manga in Hungarian. I was looking around for something to read, I think, and I saw the cover of the first volume of DetCo, and checked out the synopsis. It sounded intriguing! The art style was to my liking! I've always liked detective stories in general! Then, I started reading it, and then got hooked on it, line and sinker.
I had my true and first fandom experience through DetCo too: there was a forum, and we had like 4-5 members in total at first, I think? It was quite cozy, and I still think of those times fondly.
So I've been into DCMK for more than a decade now at least! *laughs* There was a bit of a pause for a few years (my brain tends to fixate on a very limited amount of things at a time), but last year I felt like rereading the manga (oh, that nostalgia) and... Here I am, again, totally not obsessed at all. *laughs awkwardly* It's almost been a year, going by my twitter thread, since I started that particular reread in February... And still going strong with my love for DCMK. Yup. It's like coming home.
But enough about me and my endless rambling, let me return the question to you: how did YOU get into DCMK?
