currently re-living one of my weirdest childhood "traumas" (person on a power trip self-destructing an online community i'm a part of)
#i spent most of my freetime from 12-14 on this sims 2 proboards forum#it was populated mostly by teenagers & some college kids but the main admin was this woman who was 40-ish#and idek the whole story but what i think happened: some of the other members (who were older teens) called out some stuff#like things they wanted changed. suggestions. and her ego couldn't handle being “told what to do” by kids#& she shut down the whole forum lmao. it wasn't a huge deal bc i'd already kinda left & was talking to my friends on msn messenger#BUT some of the members who stood up to her created a second forum that we all flocked to for a hot second#and a pretty significant time was spent roasting her behavior#anyway a similar thing is happening on one of my discord servers and i'm experiencing the weirdest deja vu#m.txt

I hate to say it but I feel a lot of disappointment with Jk, so much so that I’ve mentally checked out of his release and want to hear nothing of it anymore. It’s just disappointing to see him sellout like this, his interviews aren’t making things better bc how can he say he just wants to be more famous/be a giant pop star, what happened to just loving to make music ? Feel like idek know him like I thought I do. I’m also stuck between if I should be mad at him or not bc at some level he did know this was going to happen, knew they were going to push him more than the other members(we literally see him planning to be big in suwitcha ep).
He seems so arrogant and full of himself nowadays. Not an ounce of gratitude??? No thankyou, nothing. Straight up asking for more, as he knows scooter is preparing him an English album. Don't know how long he's gonna go well with this bitchy attitude. Idk how he can change like this or maybe the older humble JK was all a facade. Didn't he also said that ? Anyway, it's just a matter of time till Jimin gets done with his bs and drops him. Idk how long Jimin can pretend to be happy and supportive of him even while being arrogant af.
Hi Anon, I'm sorry you feel that way. I honestly haven't been keeping up with these promotions, but I haven't seen anything about him being arrogant or bitchy?

Long story short, the producers said he was very open-minded and humble about the whole thing, and that over all he was just great to work with. He also actually seemed very nervous the entire time he was recording, and not arrogant at all.
Secondly, who are we to judge him if he wants to be a famous pop star? That's so many people's dreams. In fact, that's probably one of the reasons he joined BTS in the first place. Now he's just doing it individually.
As for you feeling like his love of music is fading, I actually don't think that's true at all. He actually loves modern American pop music, as he's talked about many times, and as you can see from his spotify playlist. Most of all, I think he's just trying to make himself stand out as his own person and not just another member of BTS. And as long as he's not hurting anyone or being forced to make music he doesn't want to, it's really not our place to judge.
And finally, I really don't think this is going to cause any long-term problems, if any, with Jikook's relationship. We know Jimin has forgiven JK for much more. Take the rainy day incident, for example. And yes, I know Jungkook was young then, but I think we all know that he's grown a lot, and so has Jimin. Their relationship is strong enough to outlast a few months or so of Jungkook acting this way, which, again, I don't think he is.
Listen, Anon, if you don't want to support Jungkook as a solo artist, fine. You do you. Just do us all a favor and stop infiltrating spaces where people are actually trying to love and support him.

So there’s another one of those cool Hermitcraft trivia posts circulating again which I kinda wanna reblog but also I’m feeling a little bit hesitant because some of the points seem maybe a little bit inaccurate or exaggerated? Like I’d like to fact check them first at least.
(Particularly what stuck out to me was the point about season two only happening because Joe did a coup, because that’s not how I understood that story the way Joe and Xisuma have told it? Or at least as far as I can remember... the impression I had was that Xisuma was mainly the person who took the initiative to keep the server going but Joe was one who broke the gridlock on whether or not they should add new members by just straight up inviting Cleo without asking the others.)
(So maybe a more accurate way to phrase it is that without Xisuma season 2 wouldn’t have happened, but without Joe, season 2 might not have had any new members. And at this point the only still currently active Hermits who were already on the server were X, Hypno and Joe, so the lineup could have turned out very differently, if the server had even survived past season 2.)
(I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure this is how I remember hearing it?)
But what actually annoyed me was this comment from someone (not OP, to be clear) in the notes:

I don’t wanna start counting diversity points on each server like it’s a fucking game, but I DO wanna point out that the “white guy“ comment is pretty rich coming from a Hermitcraft fan.
Both servers have a white guy problem.
But at least with Dream SMP I can actually think of more than one creator who isn’t white, and it didn’t take them until season 2 to add a second female member...
(I know Hermitcraft is more of a private and closed group and they have extremely strict qualifications they demand from new members, plus every current member has veto power, so it’s much harder to add new Hermits than it is to add new DSMP members where it’s all decided by One Guy, but I think some frustration about this is still justified due to how big Hermitcraft is in the MCYT community.)
It’s also extremely annoying when apparently there was a whole thing where Hermit fans were insisting that Quackity is white during the sexyman polls?? Presumably just to excuse their shitty behaviour??? idek. (And I also heard on the other hand that there were some straight up racist comments made about Quackity as well. He literally cannot win, apparently.)

What is this weird attitude towards new creators?? Yes, it’s cool that Hermitcraft has been around for over a decade and that the Hermits have all these cool histories in the community and even influenced the development of the game itself, but you can celebrate that without needing to put down new people, ffs.
I know it’s annoying when the new guys suddenly get more popular than your guys, but it happens, it’s the circle of YouTube. Please chill out. No need to be a hipster about it.
Besides, even if we don’t count people like Vikkstar who admittedly didn’t play on DSMP all that much, there were still people on the server who had long histories in the MCYT community:
Phil has been making Minecraft videos at least since 2012, when he started his first Hardcore Series, and holds the record for the longest running hardcore world to date. There’s a splash text in Minecraft referencing him (”Ph1lzA had a good run!”)
Techno started his channel in 2013 and was part of the Hypixel player council (or was it called the Elite Team back then? Not sure) since he was like 14 or 15, helping with testing and game design on many of the iconic Hypixel games before the server became the biggest Minecraft server in the world. He too has a splash text in the game (”Technoblade never dies!”)
BadBoyHalo has his own PVP server called MunchyMC which was launched in 2015 and before that he was part of the staff on a different PVP server.
Also while more recent, a whole bunch of DSMP members were also on SMP Live and SMP Earth back in 2019. In fact 2019 was when a lot of the DSMP members originally got their initial boost into popularity.
Honestly the only DSMP members who fit the description of “new white guy who popped up in 2021“ are like... probably Foolish and BoomerNA??

I think you probably meant 2020 anyway, because that’s when Dream, George, Sapnap, Tommy, Tubbo and Ranboo became popular. I assume so anyway because those are usually the white guys people actually seem to be talking about when they talk about DSMP white guys. (Obligatory note that Ranboo is in fact nonbinary though.)
tl;dr:
You can just hype up the Hermits and just not say anything about DSMP. That’s an option. Especially if you clearly don’t know that much about DSMP.

Having organization thoughts about the ES 21 wedding at a ranch fic I'm going to definitely or so help me finish this year
Okay, so as some of you know the basics so far have been:
Kid and Tetsuma are getting married. It's 2020. There's no pandemic in their universe for the same reason Hiruma isn't on a no fly list
Everyone gets invited to this ranch out in like WY because Horide knows a director who's a big fan of both teams that Kid and Tetsuma played for and I need a place to bring this whole giant ass cast together that can house them
Every featured couple gets two flashbacks to their romance: 1. how they got together and 2. either something related toa proposal or a glimpse of their life deeper into the romance
The whole thing takes place over five days after what's called the World Bowl happens (which is like an international pre-season show down because in this universe we love and appreciate American Football). The fic starts when Kid, Tetsuma, Horide, and other former members of the Seibu Wild Gunmen arrive at the ranch and ends when Kid and Tetsuma ride into the sunset after the reception (guests can leave the day after that, clean up ends the day after the guests leave, but we aren't going to see either of those days)
I've got pretty much all of that squared away, so I'm looking at it trying to figure out how to weave the flashbacks into a larger story about everyone being at this wedding. So now I'm starting to think about structure properly and here are some thoughts
I need some kind of joint bachelor party on the third day which should be roughtly half way through the fic. It needs to fit the fact they're out on a ranch. It also needs to be accessible for someone with a spinal injury and someone who has to use a cane (and probably other injuries that are present but not mentioned). I've never been to a bachelor(ette) party so idek. Got to think about this
Feels like maybe I need a third Kid/Tetsuma flashback if only because a) this is their wedding and b) feels like they should have a third one? But what? But what? Tetsuma's scene is when he helped Kid escape an arranged marriage meeting and Kid's flashback is sharing the marriage news with Horide and Tetsuma's parents. So of course there should be something significant, something with just them to flashback to. Just got to figure that out.
I can do two flashbacks per party day (and then three for the third day since I want to give Kid/Tetsuma an extra one. I was thinking about doing it in kind of like a > < order so like Kid > Panther > Hiruma? > Suzuna? > Sakuraba? > Kid/Tetsuma < Shin? < Monta? < Mamori? < Sena < Tetsuma. Still working on the order. Got to figure out good plot points to weave the flashbacks into. I've got a good idea for Panther and Sena. I have an idea for Sakuraba, and a faint idea for Shin
I think if I can figure out what goes in the middle that'll help place the other characters accordingly
And of course there will be other characters throughout the party scenes and I need to figure out how to do that effectively
So hopefully I'll have some productive thoughts while I'm sleeping tonight

Audrey thought Follows-Chalk was just messing with her when he said who they were gonna meet, no way this guy is still alive. Needless to say she hates him, she’s heard enough horrendous things about him in her NCR days to form her opinion. He didn’t like her much either aaaghhh how can you see through my fake atonement thing where I’m basically doing the same as before. (she doesn’t really see through it initially, she’s just too stubborn to buy the whole redemption arc thing from the beginning and ends up realizing that she just happened to be right). Understanding why she doesn’t trust him but also resenting that.
Who felt romantic feelings first?
fjjhdsjhd he does probably, vaguely. She has a much harder time accepting it considering his background and all that, so that came later.
Did either of them try to resist their feelings?
YEAH! Both actually, enemies to vaguely friends to lovers and all that but like I said, Audrey has a much harder time coming to terms with this, she feels a little stupid about it because she knows what this guy has done!!! ( and he knows that, hence why he’s pushing it all down in favor of his stupid little revenge thing) He’s so weird and just looks like a mummy, what is there to like objectively. But she does. What thematic parallels do to a mfer 😔
Who initiated the relationship?
She did… Canyon visit nr 2, she technically fucking hates it there but for some reason she wants to go back (well. you know why), perhaps just a little vacation. And well there was clearly something there so why act on it. The most embarrassing moment of her life but it’s worth it I suppose.

Just mundane things, doing random shit while one is talking about whatever. A lot of times it’s just Audrey chatting about something funny or weird that happened to her on her travels while she puts on one of her favorite holotapes and does something, her stories are more light-hearted after all :/
Other than that… nothing too insane, they’re too weird to have proper hobbies. Her making him read his stupid mormon bible out loud so she can hear his sexy grandpa voice 😍

In the followers' camp, not long after she moved to Freeside :) iirc the King tells a story about how he went to the Followers Camp to seek help regarding Rex and ended up yelling at them and even knocking out a few doctors.. something similar, one of his guys got their ass beat and the King got impatient and asked why tf this is taking so long. And Diana told him to sit his ass down and wait, which resulted in an argument 🙄
As for the first impression. Diana thought he was just your typical annoying man, maybe sexy and in a cooler suit than the guys on the strip, but annoying nonetheless. And the King thought she was being rude and had a big mouth. But again, kind of in a sexy way.

THE KING… pretty quickly actually. A few months after the argument they had at the old mormon fort. For Diana on the hand it took a little bit longer :/

WTF get out with your creepy mask… wait ACTUALLY since you’re good at sneaking can you get me [random thing for her medical research that she has tried to get her hands on for ages] and i can give you a discount on health potions and free leeches 😏 NPC behavior…
Georgie thought the mask looked fucked up and he seemed mysterious but well. She meets strange people every day so 🤷♀️ Also she thinks it’s kind of sexy. He thought she was a bit strange, but ig he liked her. She’s funny.

being a fan of chengren is a death sentence it seems like bc this story is so poorly written and disjointed that we get NO FUCKING TIME WITH THEM and im not joking but xing si and the rapist dude and that awful family take up way too much time in the sense that it honestly sours your feelings for a bit. i skip around a lot but sometimes i want to laugh at how stupid and mind-boggling it is but i realize how much that dampens my feelings when i get to the people i want to see. and a show shouldnt be like that, even with questionable characters. it just sucks and i think a big part of it is how contradictory the message of the show is as well. you have this imperfect couple in a really weird genre and a horrible series but they can get their main relationships (usually) uh i wouldnt say right. but they are there.
everything about chengren is so fucking opposite? there's also just how fucking awkward they made the writing when their conclusion was of course what they were hinting at (sometimes i'm like so did half of you like go to film school or are experienced in the field if you didnt—cos it's a fucking racket and a scam—because sometimes it's like oh gee some decent production but mostly it's like did ANY of you read the LAST SCENE you JUST WROTE?) like imagine how much better of a time we could have spent without the top/bottom discourse particularly since htey directly tied it to rape.
which is another thing, i get that this is fetishization and projection of patriarchy and bullshit of the highest order but for the love of god it literally harms every single group you're purporting to support with the constantly conflation of sexuality with LITERAL SEX especially especially when it comes to consent. people aren't gay or attracted to people on the spectrum or same-sex or whatever because of trauma nor do they have to be set in stone. i mean i have to critique the genre as a whole when i comment because without the whole shitty structure it could be different but it isn't and that's what happens when shit is appropriated and removed from its owners so the people in these groups want nothing to do with it mostly, which is evident.
as a woman/as women it's okay to acknowledge that too like we are being voyeurs in a sense watching this, i mean we are participating in the shit, but like exploitation is par for the course. the thing is it rests on OUR exploitation as well because it is about women and yes that's fucked up and strange but that is literally capitalism at work. that's why this is so easy to spread and it's soft power.
but then to get to the point after 8 episodes about a dick going in a butt the writers are like "oh these grown men actually know how to have conversations we totally forgot that they can talk about sex and be done with this convo in two seconds"
TO BE FAIR....that was a good convo and it was a good conclusion since they included it at every turn in the worst way possible. i have one more complaint (probably more) but when muren is drugged or whatever the frame of anson chen's body / his back when teng teng sees him gives me nightmares. it is so visually unappealing and i'm angry that someone looked at that frame and the blocking and went "this is good yes" his body makes no sense in that shot and it isn't sensual he reminds me of a fucking titan and i don't like it. UGH THEY SHOULD HAVE RAISED THE CAMERA OR SOMETHING. IT GIVES ME NIGHTMARES.
we all need to talk to the production team. i don't know how much credit i can give them (i'll go with none until they pay off my film school debt) because the actors carry so much weight for why we like chengren. i think because they are older, more comfortable as actors, so the stupid shit they say seems more plausible. and because the two can play off each other and have that comfort it really seems like them. they also make these stupid lines of dialogue their own. there's lots of room for improvement, i think on anson's part especially, but even if they say things that are just ridiculous, we don't have so much cringe. idk because i know that the rest of the show is just so fucking dumb and im like....idek i cannot give anyone but them (anson, charles) credit (oh and the poor crew members like lighting and shit who had to stand around for this garbage my god)
sadly i think they may be my fav couple from history. which is really saying something because this is an ACTUAL nightmare.

Big mistake. But I’m glad I found them again. Second, Daehwi really doesn’t know how to write a bad song, does he? Third, I got into AB6IX like a couple of weeks after Youngmin left (don’t really have an opinion on it. Not gonna talk about it), and I just knew that with one rapper leaving, one of the other ones was gonna turn out to be a great rapper. I thought it was going to be Woong. I was wrong, but not dissapointed at all. Stan Rapper Daehwi (the boy can literally do anything).

Notes: I cannot even begin to explain how happy it makes me that a whole third of their members are Japanese, and that two thirds of the rap line are foreigners. And like, they’re not even like ~average~ rappers. They’re really, really good. (Also, can we address the fact that Asahi, Haruto, and Yoshi all helped write Orange?! Like, bilingual legends). And like, the cover they did of Whistle was like out of this world?! Like I literally listen to it multiple times a day... might highkey make it my ringtone. Ok can you tell I love these boys? Yeah? Good.

oh my god I found a draft of a Hawke/Varric thing I was working on (YES I have a pattern!! Maybe developers should stop making characters mine have extreme sexual tension and compatibility with ok.)
I don’t know if it will ever get any further than this, but the notes made me laugh and sad. Dumping it all after the cut. Please note that YES I literally stopped writing mid-sentence six years ago and never continued. Why??
It all started when we returned from the Deep Roads.
Actually, that’s not exactly true. It started about half a year before then, or else the last time I’d seen Bianca. Nevermind that. This isn’t the story I never tell, it’s just one that I don’t.
In any case, after the Deep Roads is as good a time as any to start. If you want the real beginning, it’s in the book. The Champion of Kirkwall. Sure, there may be some missing lines, a few redacted conversations, but the foundation is there. Go ahead and read the first act, I’ll wait. If you haven’t read it by now, though… let’s just say you’re in the minority. After all, it is my best selling story.
After the Deep Roads, Hawke and I had a lot of reasons to spend time together. After all, there was business to conduct: treasure that needed the right buyers at the right price, hirelings to question about their involvement with the whole “abandonment thing”, letters to write to various and sundry members of the Guild, maps to update with an ancient thaig, for Andraste’s sake.
There was also a lot of drinking to be done, or maybe it was just that a lot of drinking was done. It took the edge off of things… washed down any manner of dark thoughts. Or so we’d claim. The company helped, regardless. Hawke and her little band of misfits, myself included… we ruled the Hanged Man in those days.
After a while, well… things got a little more complicated and reasons turned to excuses.

Hawke drops herself into a chair at Varric’s long table with a considerable thunk of metal on wood; something ridiculous and heavy made of iron that she’s taken to wearing as ornamentation impacting less than delicately with his fine dwarven chairs. Varric sets the quill he’s been using in its holder, leaves the paper to dry. It’s just a bit about their encounter with the darkspawn. For his records; nothing serious, but he finds himself writing it as prose out of habit. It can wait.
He studies Hawke for a second. The rings under her eyes are especially bad today, the purple tinge of long nights visible even under the gold powder smeared across her eyelids and the smudged black of whatever substance she darkens her eyelashes with. She almost always looks like she slept in yesterday’s eye makeup, but lately each day has been progressively worse, and today is no exception. He swallows and tries to keep his tone light.
“No word?” Varric knows the answer, will probably know word is coming before Hawke does, but asks anyway. It isn’t entirely impossible that a messenger from the Wardens would slip past the notice of his carefully placed network of spies. Highly improbable, but not impossible.
She shakes her head and sighs, leaning forward to place both elbows against the edge of the table and duck her head as if to study the exquisitely carved wood. Not that the elbows bothered him; this table had, after all, seen a lot worse in it’s day, and Varric wasn’t exactly Mr. Manners. Hawke wasn’t normally an elbows on the table kind of gal, was all. Leaning back until she practically slid off the chair, sure. But hunched was bad. She’d been hunched a lot lately.
“Nothing at all. It’s been weeks, Varric. I just--”
“--want to know that your brother is alive. ‘The little snotrag’.” He finishes for her, managing (pretty badly) to keep back a chuckle. Hawke narrows her eyes but smiles, albeit a wan one.
“I’m sorry. I know you’re sick of hearing it.”
“Of course not.” He leans back in his chair, tipping so far that it’s balancing on two legs. “Though you could stand to get a little more creative with the insults. Carver was a little shit.” Shit. Hawke’s face falls again, fast, on ‘was’. Varric leans forward again so all four legs of his chair hit the ground, then pushes back and stands.
“Come on. I’ve got something for us to do.” That, at least, elicits a stronger smile. He’ll have to think of something good, and fast.
He mulls this over as Hawke waits for him to pull on his jacket and gloves, to strap Bianca on. He feels her eyes on him, and slows down just a little bit, making a show of adjusting the way his gloves lay and fiddling with his earrings. Varric is retying the sash around his middle (again) when he spies Hawke’s mouth pressing into a thin line. Time to stop dragging his heels.
“Alright, Hawke, let’s go.”
“If you’re sure you’re presentable, Tethras,” she rolls her eyes as she stands, but the smile has returned.
“Well excuse me. Some of us have a reputation to uphold. Actually, Hawke--” he gestures towards the door to his miniature suite, beckoning her through “--that’s going to include you very soon. You know how they are in High Town, after all.” His tone is light as a feather, threatening a chuckle.
Hawke shrugs her way out of the room, and he follows, then turns to pull the door shut. Not that locking it means a hell of a lot -- everyone basically already knows not to bother Varric’s things. It still makes him feel better.
“It might. If my share is what you said, I should be able to get the mansion.” A small throaty laugh escapes her. Varric fumbles with the key a moment, then shakes his head:
“And then some. Don’t worry, it’s not too difficult to line up buyers for ancient dwarven chamberpots.”
She laughs again as he turns around to find she’s still facing him. “I may just keep one. I’ll think of Bartrand every time I sh--” The expletive is drowned by the laughter that bursts out from deep in Varric’s body. Maker, it feels good to laugh like that.
“Alright, alright, I get the picture, you don’t have to get gross. Let’s go already.” He gestures again, toward the stairs. Hawke’s mouth twitches in a mischievous smile, but she turns on her heel and
That’s where I stopped?? And then, a rare thing, an OUTLINE:
--- Months before learning Carver survived ---
Scene one: Two weeks after returning from the Deep Roads. Hawke and Varric go to the Black Emporium (pretend it is first time) to try and sell off some of the rarer goods. Run into Anders on the way, drag him along (hint at annoyance, very light).
Something something plot hook idek. Bandits? Someone sniffing about the manor trying to buy it first? Figger it out.
Small amount of time skip, nighttime scene, everyone loves fucking Wicked Grace at the Hanged Man scenes lets do this. Flirting, but table-wide. Some stupid observation from Varric about attention from Hawke being great or whatever blah blah blah. Maybe like a shoulder touch ho ho ho gettin’ racy. But point is Hawke is manic, flirtatious and drowning her anxiety, pretending to be happy about a good sale, whatever.
Hawke like blind drunk, Isabela already took someone to her room, everyone else has wandered off, SUPER PLANTONIC FLUFFY tucking her into his bed and setting up to a sleepness night writing just make sure it hurts a little how much Varric is taking care of her.
Morning afterwards maybe a fight OH NO about Carver?? oh no, Marie feeling stupid and hungover and sad and Varric sticking his foot in his mouth for once trying to be reassuring. You tits.
Break for action about whatever DUMB PLOT is happening, gives a chance for building tension because they’re being weird ha ha TIME TO BE WEIRD. Other people. Resist using Isabela to deliver tired lines about how they should shut up and kiss. Resist it. But whatever whole point is tension. Do not break the tension. Laughter must be strained.
Who loves shirty Hawke? Everyone. Anyway moving things along lets have enough time pass now for Carver to be Survive! Hooray? And so real celebration, everyone knows good news is an even better excuse to drink than avoiding problems.
Speaking of avoiding problems maybe like now is when Marie is still being shirty and Varric is like also shirty and so they have a “private” conversation at the bar (Varric, getting his own drinks? Must be serious) and now, now we’ll put cracks in that tension eggshell, there’s a baby bird inside ok it needs to breathe.
Varric is a grownup and Hawke is pretending. Let’s make more touching happen and confusion.

Hey so what is ahead to still waters 👀👀
I - oof even what is Ahead to still waters, indeed, lmfao.
Uhm, so very long story short-ish:
Atsw is the sprawling, all over the place, sometimes a gritty traumatic war drama, sometimes an indulgent opulent space opera, occasionally an uncomfortable psychological horror, more often than not a heartbreakingly tragic and agonizing and tenderly romantic monsterbeast of a catradora(...?) fic that happened when a dubcon chipped!catra/adora pwp drabble morphed into Cry little sister and then that au morphed a second time into Ahead to still waters.
It's @trashcanpunch and I's favorite fic-child and we basically come crashing into one anothers DMs on a constant basis to scream feelings at each other. I mean mostly like angsty feelings as if we're on two different sides of a vicious guerilla war and heartbreaking plot moments or snippets or whatever the fuck are spike pits in the jungle but... yknow.
Lmfao no but uh. basically. Atsw, much like Cls, is the "what if" exploration i guess based on if adora&co had left catra behind after catra had helped to rescue glimmer off of prime's flagship.
(mind you that the backstory "lore" of the universe is only like... 5% canon compliant bc I dont fuck with canon when it comes to aus it's stupid and I dont like being limited like that lmao)
no but uhhh. yeah. without the events of Save the Cat, adora never really becomes she ra again. meanwhile, catra isn't forcibly baptized in the mountain dew pool of doom against her will and shoddy chipped and shoved into the hivemind. rather prime sees how much she's hurting and how much internal conflict and despair she's got in her, and very gently and tenderly and so so so uncomfortably grooms her into turning on etheria. essentially handing over not only everything she knows willingly, but also taking the light willingly, joining the hivemind willingly, but also giving herself over to the war effort bodily in letting him use her physically for the creation of little sister, who is kinda sorta an entirely separate personality? it's weird. that whole aspect is sorta... it hasn't been ironed out yet.
(if any of y'all are familiar with my aus, youll know nothing is concrete and everything is always changing and being retconned lol so things may change but)
catra is essentially given the light rather early? and the light and the chips and the hivemind all work differently than in the show, obvs. and she wants to repay prime for giving her a new home and a place of belonging and a purpose?
(oof and I loooove prime in this au. like. i love him because I have such a love hate relationship with him. and I think that's his entire point?? because he'll Make You Like Him??? and make you trust him??? and it's just So Good. and then you'll be reminded that he's an absolute fucking monster it's Amazing)
no but. so. catra. but also little sister. so like, catra is given the light and she's been relieved of her despair and her grief and her anger and bitterness and pain and all that jazz. she's also done some other shit too but we won't get into that here lol. she's earned her place, so to speak. but she wants to do more. she's a true believer. she has seen the truth and heard it from on high and followed him from out of the darkness with pure blind faith and been rewarded. she has really truly deeply drank the koolaid.
prime basically through some weird process splits her - personality? entire wholeass consciousness?? idek. but there's catra and little sister and theyre two different people but they're not and they have two separate personalities but they dont. and they have different memories and knowledge of things but then at the same time they dont. they share a body and a soul but thanks to chip shenanigans and prime's influence, little sister is intentionally so much stronger than catra, she's the one in control most of the time? and yeah sometimes, though very rarely, catra can shove her way to the front but more often than not prime has to allow catra to be present.
(it's not like she'd want to be anyways. committing warcrimes and whatnot. she's comfy where she is. as long as adora's safe she's okay to let little sister be of service to lord prime's plans. that's okay. as long as adora's okay, she's okay.)
but then yknow turns out prime is getting kinda bored af with the war and the heart of etheria isn't like. he doesnt really want it to blow up the universe bc that's dumb as fuck?? lmao what. he mostly either wants to harness that magic so no one else can have it who Would blow up the universe bc there are much more evil fuckers than Prime out there and they aren't members of the evil version of the space united nations or whatever who are all like "so hey uh what's the deal with basically that giant bomb I guess you were gonna take care of or something...?" or he wants to conquer etheria and her surrounding planets (which is mostly his current plan but etheria is kind of just... being a bitch..) bc he cant really just. leave something like that sitting in what is his backyard now. but either way he's getting really fed up and he's all "alright we're gonna just mass chip everyone fuck it i don't care" or something like that, and then honestly prolly destroy all the runestones or something and then just pack up and see if the planet explodes like a pressure cooker.
but also prime has a bit of a soft spot for catra (I mean its more that that but we're not gonna get into that rn) and shes all 🥺👉👈 do you think mebbe I could go and talk to adora and see if i could convince her to join the light? she might be so happy to see me that she'd say yes?
and little sister and prime are all "lmao this kid" and "oh you sweet summer child, how precious you are. sure, it's worth a try" but at the same time they both know that adora isn't an idiot and that she's gonna put two and two together and realize pretty quick why catra isn't dead and why she has a chip but hasn't been seen in years. and oh gee yeah I mean you've been committing God awful horrific atrocities but sure I'll come with you and join ur cult ex bestie sure ♡•°` so little sister pretty much promises prime that she'll kidnap adora if/when she says no to catra both bc adora is a good asset to have Anyway and bc like it or not she's got a soft spot for catra too, even if she's a spoiled little fuck who gets special treatment.
so adora obvs says no and catra is all 🥺 and little sister is all 😤🙄😒🗡🗡 and so adora gets kidnapped...? politely taken prisoner? ... rescued from maybe being blown up? ... reunited with her ex-bestie who she abandoned to prolly/potential doom? lmao pick one. catra is pouting bc adora was mean and rude even tho catra was so excited and happy to see her again and adora is grumpy and stubborn and impolite and little sister is like "I hate you both So Much" and prime is all "drama! I love it :3"
aaand I gotta go run errands and try to be productive so I guess thats all the explanation you'll get for now.

May 28: 2x20 Return to Tomorrow
Today’s ep was one of my sleeper favorites, Return to Tomorrow. Imo this one should be considered a classic, but I never really hear it talked about.
So we jump right into the mystery.
I feel like Kirk is very suspicious today. And of course he immediately turns to Spock to ultimately answer the questions, after everyone else gives him partial explanation. “Spock, figure this out for me.”
GHOST ALIEN. This is what sci fi needs more of: ghost aliens.
“We have to go down there and explore. Our primary mission IS to make alien friends, after all.”
“Your probes have touched me, Mr. Spock.” No comment but this a verbatim line.
“Captain Kirk, you’re our only hope.”
I can’t believe Kirk is trying to deny Spock the opportunity to inspect unknowns.
Sargon is clearly insistent that he meets multiple different types of alien.
And it was effective! Okay, Sargon, now make them date.
Scotty is complaining about his controls being “preset by some kinda alien” while standing next to an alien.
Sargon invites a lady on the trip in order to create a love triangle.
Honestly, I love Sargon already. A glowing orb full of pure energy that talks.
Kirk doesn’t like them being called “children.”
Hmmm, are they implying that Vulcans are the true descendants of these aliens? I feel like that line was stuck in there to lessen the blasphemous impact of implying Adam and Eve were alien colonists, while still keeping the cool idea of alien colonists.
You can tell that Sargon definitely still thinks of himself as a god.
“That is still Jim’s body.” Hmmmm, Spock hasn’t broken out the “Jim” in a while.
So he put Jim in the glowing ball? Weird of him.
Aw, poor dead glowing balls.
How convenient that Sargon’s wife just happened to survive.
Spock seems reluctant to let go of Jim, there.
Kirk is trying to be profound about his experiences with the alien and his complete trust in him and McCoy’s like THAT’S JUST DUMB.
I love how McCoy and Scotty are just so skeptical about this. McCoy really thinks the aliens can’t be trusted and the risk is too great, which is fair, but Scotty’s like “...this is too weird even for me, sorry.”
“Quite simple. Happens every day.” So sarcastic, Bones!
McCoy thinks this is kinky. (Idek what this note was about lol but I stand by it.)
A starship engine the size of a walnut was enough to convince Scotty!
I feel like Kirk is just the utter epitome of the ideal man of the future. He believes in progress, but also peace, in exploration, in adventure, in the best of man and the best of aliens. “But man did fly....would you rather man had not gone to the moon... Risk is our business!”
And at that time, man hadn’t even gone to the moon yet. He was really asking people that question: do you want to explore space or not?
Henoch is the bad boy of the aliens.
He wakes up and he is immediately horny lol. And Christine’s like “yes, finally a hot alien who’s into me.”
Meanwhile, with the other two aliens, we see yet another convoluted way of giving Kirk a love interest (=showing the male lead kissing pretty ladies) without actually ever giving him a love interest. “Sargon, you sure did pick a hottie to inhabit.”
This dialogue man: “I’m surprised the Vulcans haven’t conquered you.” / “The Vulcans worship peace above all.” McCoy getting to stand up for Vulcans. He’s always so quick to do that when Spock can’t hear him.
I also love Henoch trying to back track like “Yes, yes, we value peace too, I definitely didn’t immediately start talking about conquering, conquering’s not on my mind, I’ve very peaceful.”
“Spock” smiling is such a weird sight.
Henoch is awesome. I love him. Great villain 10/10. I feel like he’s an excellent example of why you SHOULD kill your enemies, actually.
I agree with McCoy, those three flickering balls ARE foreboding.
Henoch isn’t wrong about the android bodies. They’re a very sensible, practical, and humane solution. But they aren’t any fun, and they aren’t really going to replace what the aliens have been missing.
This plot is ALSO an excuse to have Spock be flirty, for all the audience members who’d been lusting after him for almost two years.
He’s so delightfully passive aggressive. “Oh, didn’t you know? This is your body, Thalassa.”
You can tell ALL these aliens are sneaky bastards at heart. Probably why they destroyed themselves.
Sargon? In my Enterprise? It’s more likely than you think.
“Jim, the receptacles!”
“You’ve killed...your best friend.” McCoy calling Spock Jim’s best friend always gets to me because, first, they really were perceived and understood to be best friends and that’s so lovely, but also, I don’t really think of them that way. I think of Spock as more his soulmate and McCoy as his best friend.
And Jim’s like “well,, that is unfortunate...now time to kill his body!”
I’ll say that I assume Kirk really did think Spock was dead, for the same reason that McCoy thought he was killing Spock’s body--to fool Henoch--but it’s possible he saw Spock transfer to Christine and thus never really thought he’d lost him. But he would have to lie to McCoy again, to fool Henoch.
“My friend, Spock.” Say it again.
This was like the best experience of Christine’s life. She got to share a body with Spock. I’m pretty sure that counts as sex in some cultures.
Well, that was awkward. The aliens suddenly departed and Kirk and Mulhall were still kissing. I feel like Spock was the most awkward about it.
And Christine loves the romance of it. And it is romantic!! But she looks to Spock and he’s like “yeah, whatever, I’m not jealous shut up.”
The only slight fault I see in this ep is there is a LITTLE bit of “well the aliens are just really powerful, so they can solve the plot holes with their Alien Powers” going on, but honestly... these eps aren’t that long for the ideas they put in them, plus, what’s the point of aliens if they can’t just do whatever you say they can do. Fairly small complaint.
But otherwise it had everything: a cool sci fi concept; classic alien tropes like Aliens as Warnings, Aliens Too Smart for Their Bodies, and Very Powerful Aliens; robots; Kirk being awesome and idealistic; the triumvirate; Christine having a good day; a lady scientist; the return of the colorful backgrounds; interesting and unusual ideas like that the aliens were waiting for their own descendants to come back and rescue them (and the Enterprise may or may not be those descendants); a romance; a villain; legitimately interesting relationships among the aliens and characterization of the aliens; and a fun story that moved along at a good pace.
Also I really, really feel like these are among the best characterized aliens/alien society in the whole show. Like maybe I’m just getting too excited about them but I really felt like they were real: they had these great powers but they weren’t just there to show humans how puny they were--they had faults but they weren’t villains--they had morals (Sargon in particular) but their good intentions weren’t good enough. You could see why they destroyed themselves but also why they might have been worth saving--and not just for what they could give to or do for humankind, but as intelligent, living beings in their own right. Even Sargon, who was so powerful he was a deus ex machina in and of himself, and really was genuinely moral and wanted to do what was right, and was never even tempted by the body, still had a certain obvious manipulative streak, and was quite paternalistic. His plan probably never would have worked. But it’s understandable that he wanted to try.
Anyway, as far as sci fi stories go in particular, this ep is one of my faves and it DOES hold up.

as you mentioned, i think the spaces where apostles/godhand make their sacrifices are specific to a person, since they're all different from each other. then yeah, i think that dimension of human faces are meant to be specific to griffith. i already imagined that but i couldn't be sure since we hadn't seen another eclipse happen, but i'm also not sure that last panel was an eclipse and not just gaiseric's own sacrifice, so i guess we'll see. also, if it was gaiseric, i wonder what was his sacrifice? i know the woman had a brand on her shoulder, but there also was a giant glowing brand on the background. oh man this new chapter answered some things but only made me more curious djskssk maybe hoping for another chapter this year is hoping for too much but oh well

I don’t think it's likely to be Gaiseric’s sacrifice bc the memory is specifically of when the berserk armour takes over, and while I don’t think there’s any in-universe reason someone can’t turn into a monster and then have magic armour take them over, storytelling-wise it would be redundant and kind of weird imo.
wrt that giant glowing background brand, I was assuming that it’s Gaiseric’s city which Void sacrificed in its entirety, on fire in a brand shape bc the metaphysical world of Berserk is really on the nose sometimes with its symbolic imagery lol. So Gaiseric’s gf is just one of thousands, in that case. That said, we didn’t see a big brand during Griffith’s sacrifice - the only other time we saw one was during the reincarnation ritual at the end of the Conviction arc, when the refugees’ bonfires made a brand shape iirc. But then, we also didn’t see people with individual brands then, and it’s still in another dimension with the Godhand actually there and not just shadows, so I’m inclined to think that it’s still a crimson-behelit Eclipse event, and Miura basically threw in a burning brand-shaped background bc it looked cool and he already established that the world arranges itself into symbolic images sometimes.
My previous theory about Gaiseric, based on his whole ‘appearing out of nowhere to unite kingdoms and create an empire about a thousand years previously, which Griffith resurrected into Falconia’ background was that he’s Griffith 1.0, a former Godhand who was incarnated back into the world. And that’s like... maybe less likely now lol, since he doesn’t rly need 2 majorly significant backstories, and what does an incarnated godhand need magic armour for anyway, but still not impossible imo?
(Actually idek if it’s less likely since I did think Void sacrificed his city while he was an incarnated godhand before, the only difference now is that he already had the armour and a gf i guess)
Like I’m coming at this from an extremely biased pov bc if it was true it would fit perfectly into a bunch of my other theories about Berserk and hopes for the future of the story, but still lol, ~I want to believe~
I mean first of all, to be fair, someone’s got to be the previous incarnated godfinger, like that seems like a pretty important figure in Berserk’s time-is-cyclical worldbuilding, and it’s probably not Void bc he’s still on the astral plane, and it should be someone we’re already aware of so it doesn’t feel like an asspull out of left field so it’s probably not any of the other 4 random godhand members, and Gaiseric has been v explicitly positioned as the Griffith of a thousand years ago, including Guts thinking he sounds like Griffith while Judeau and Casca are telling him the history.
Also it seems that he can sense fate, he knows an awful lot about how mock-Eclipses work and how the godhand operates in general, and lbr everyone already kind of expected him to be Void’s surviving sacrifice so this flashback didn’t come as a big surprise, but revealing that he’s also a Griffith would be a great twist.
Plus since the other 4 Godhand are gone but Void remains maybe he wasn’t the 5th like Femto, maybe he was the first of a new cycle, which would mean the 5th was already incarnated when Void ascended.
And if Gaiseric was an incarnation ruling an empire when Void fucked him over by sacrificing it all, that has some pretty interesting implications going forward. Like
a) godhand incarnation not emotionless, which we already know lbr, but it’d be good foreshadowing for Griffith
b) possible that incarnation can be sacrificed, assuming Gaiseric was sacrificed along with his city which we don’t know for sure but is kind of implied with his “dead man stalking the night” comment, which is great news for my niche specific ‘casca sacrifices fetus/moonbaby and griffith along with it, which he survives but which complicates his existence’ theory
b2) also could explain why skull knight isn’t as invincible as ngriff seems to be and doesn’t have apostle charming powers
c) I’ve theorized that Griffith could be fated to turn on the rest of the godhand and destroy them so a new cycle can begin, and Void might be trying to circumvent this to preserve his existence, so yk, Void big bad and enemies teaming up plot
d) I like the idea of Skull Knight representing both Guts and Griffith just bc it’s more interesting to me than a rote SK = Guts and Void = Griff, and on a world building fate-y level it’s got some satisfying ‘G+G both being necessary to fate, taking the place that was held by one person last time, and inadvertantly working together to do whatever fate needs to be done’ implications. yk, it means they come as a pair even moreso
Like okay it could just be that Skull Knight is just a Guts 1.0 who picked up a lot of knowledge in his thousand years roaming the earth killing godhands and apostles, and Void was the incarnation who dipped down to earth for a while, fulfilled his humanity’s desires mandate by doing something other than founding an empire before peacing back out to the astral plane again and starting a new cycle. But that’s just not as fun.

ok this needs to be settled once and for all- pjo characters and their hogwarts houses. i think some of us can agree on most of the characters’ houses, but some are QuEsTiOnAbLe. and bc i’m so much like my father, my opinion is right. idc if you disagree- i’m right :) but y’all can share your WRONG opinions if you disagree 😤 so here we go
percy- alright y’all were starting off with a KICKER. perseus whatever his middle name is jackson. y’all like to say he’s a gryffindor which ya know i see, it’s understandable. then some of y’all say slytherin which like i don’t really see but whatever. none of this matter tho bc y’all are wrong. percy is literally a hufflepuff and congrats to the selective few that already knew that (no shade no shade) but y’all 👁👄👁 tell me how this boy isn’t a hufflepuff. is fatal flaw is LITERALLY LOYALTY LIKE COME ON NOW! now i will say that when percy was being sorted (bc yes i’m imagining them as hogwarts students in my head rn) the sorting hat took a sec to think about it. the hat was like “hold up bro- you’re loyal and put others before yourself. you value your relationships with other people. BUT you’re also very brave and got all that gryffindor stuff” so the sorting hat definitely considered putting percy in gryffindor
annabeth- i feel like annabeth has had the most debate- some people say she’s a ravenclaw and some say she’s a gryffindor. i’m here to confirm that she is, in fact, a gryffindor rAwR 🦁 now you might be like “oH bUt ChArLiE, gReAt BrEaKeR oF kNeEs, AnNaBeTh Is ThE dAuGhTeR oF aThEnA” yes and? first of all, someone is not defined by their godly parent. second of all, that’s it. annabeth is smart yeah but she has done plenty of stupid things. and she would most definitely be on board with all of percy’s dumb shit. that sounds like a pretty gryffindor thing to me. also, annabeth values glory. your values are important to your house, and gryffindors value glory. annabeth is like hermione in this way. they’re both smart, but unlike ravenclaws who just value personal knowledge, they want to share their knowledge and be praised for it. i think annabeth would definitely be a hatstall- i think the sorting hat would have a hard time deciding between gryffindor, ravenclaw, and even slytherin bc of her ambition and pride
jason- señor jason is a gryffindor. i think that’s pretty obvious. most people tend to agree on that. growing up in the legion and being the son of jupiter has shaped him to be a brave and powerful leader. *BURNING MAZE SPOILER* jason would fight until his last breath to protect his love ones and he’d go all out like POW POW POW KACHOW KABOOM which ya know he umm he did do.......... the end that’s it for jason
piper- slytherin slytherin slytherin slytherin. again, most people agree with this one but some people also say piper is a gryffindor. i could totally see how she’s a gryffindor, but i personally think she’s a slytherin. and we’ve already established that my opinion is always right soooo... she’s a slytherin. piper’s charmspeak definitely has a say in this- slytherins are known to be persuassive and cunning. obviously charmspeak makes piper persuassive and cunning. she’s also pretty independent bc she wants to be different than her siblings, and independence is a slytherin trait for sure. she’s also ambitious in the same way, yet another slytherin trait. i don’t really think i need to elaborate more since most people can agree she’s a slytherin, right? 🙂🔪

nico- ok so i had some trouble with nico but i think that he’s a slytherin. it’s not bc he wears all black and is “evil” like some of you foolish people might do bc you’re STEREOTYPING 😠 one of the reasons i think he’s a slytherin is bc he’s very indepdent and quiet and doesn’t usually like help from others. he likes to organize his life on his own even if he’s not very good at it oop. also, just the amount of power he holds- that says smth. slytherins value power and power is smth nico has like DAYUM. oh and his fatal flaw is holding grudges which like that’s a slytherin trait for sure. so yeah- slytherin
reyna- also kinda had a hard time with reyna- i could see her as a gryffindor, ravenclaw, or slytherin so i think she would be a hatstall too. in the end, i think she’s a ravenclaw. she’s very tactical and strategic with her mom being a war goddess in all. her experience as a praetor has also effected (affected? effected? idek) all that. she’s pretty strict (at least with the legion) and strong-willed. she has a hard time trusting people from her past experiences and is also very mature. these are 100% ravenclaw traits and i’m kinda simping over reyna jsut thinking about this rn wHaT iS hApPeNiNg

And like, I stumbled into the Elidibus shot but his wings are made of Zodiark my dudes.

Time to look back at the lyrics to Shadowbringers.
Some quick disclaimers! 1) There will be bits of this where I just go idk. Because sometimes idk lol. 2) I am 10000% sure that this song has layers similar to how Tomorrow and Tomorrow has layers. Tomorrow and Tomorrow I’ve heard people speculate it could be the people of the alternate Source future or the Amaurotines, and if it is the Amaurotines whether it’s directed at the Warrior or Hades or both is also up in the air. So while there is the very, very literal reading where it’s like yes this is the First and the first arc and focused all about things that happened in the First’s plot, I think the secondary meaning might seriously apply to the overarching patch arc/Ascians as a whole. 3) Pls don’t be afraid to challenge me on shit lol I just found this and am flying by the seat of my pants.

“For whom weeps the storm/her tears on our skin” honestly the most significant point posed imo outside of nice imagery is that the question needs to be asked. Could be either or both, respecting WoL and co. versus the Ascians/dead Amaurot. “The days of our years gone/our souls soaked in sin” again, could be either side here. Depends on what further gets revealed about the fourteenth member of the Convocation and the summoning of Hydaelyn probably, but I think it’s fair to say both sides got stained in shitloads of blood. “These memories ache with the weight of tomorrow” not only is the history painful, having to keep moving forward and figure out some kind of future in light of it just makes it more painful. Also a note, a few other peeps online noted that Emet-Selch reacted insanely strong/negatively when Urianger and Y’shtola commented on his future. And just as another thread, I want to highlight that the Ascians for a good chunk of their appearances talked about things being foretold.

First two lines are relatively straightforward imo, WoL versus Ascians there. It could be Emet-Selch versus WoL specifically but honestly I’m unsure. Tbh it could be fellow summoners along with WoL versus Ascians or it could be one person versus one person. “Threescore wasted, ten cast aside” IT TOOK ME. A GOOD WHILE. TO FIGURE THIS OUT. There’s a saying “threescore and ten” that existed historically. Threescore is sixty. Ten is... ten. But basically, back in the day seventy years was the generally accepted average livespan for a human being. Threescore wasted = sixty years of a seventy year lifespan in vain, ten cast aside = ten years of a seventy year lifespan. “Fourfold knowing” I think has a double meaning within too. First, there’s an idea in Buddhism called the Fourfold Round that I think is precisely what this is referencing. These come out to direct knowledge of feeling, direct knowledge of perception, direct knowledge of fabrications, and direct knowledge of consciousness. Given these, I suspect that at minimum by the end of patch 5 the three Unsundered Ascians and the Warrior of Light will all fit into roles within this, and we’ll probably be able to tell which is which. Personally I’m leaning toward WoL being direct knowledge of consciousness because especially when you factor in the Echo that gets pretty wild. An additional level though, four in East Asia is commonly associated with death. So no end in sight coming right after FOURfold seems like it’s missing some foreshadowing of the end. Possibly.

AMAUROT IS UNDERWATER IN THE TEMPEST. SHIT’S FLOODED. ASCIANS ARE PROUD ANGELS BATHING IN WAGES OF BLOOD. EITHER THE SHARDS + SOURCE GOTTA END TO REGAIN THE ORIGINAL WORLD OR THE ORIGINAL WORLD HAS TO END TO MAINTAIN THE SHARDS + SOURCE. And casting off tomorrow, if we jump up to previous lyrics about memories aching with the weight of tomorrow--I think this foreshadows being liberated from pain of past and future both to continue living in the present. Again, could be wrong about how that gets interpreted, but I do think a link is there. Also I mean the world is ending, that’s the point you no longer have to worry about what comes next. There is no next.

First two lines, everyone who exists is gonna tie into the tragedy of how the shards + Source came to be and the conflict between WoL and co. versus Ascians. “Brief our moments" through “tempered in ice” I think is referring to the whole strength born from limitations and facing negative emotions/obstacles rather than avoiding them. Hindmost devils means the devils farthest back are the first to rise, which could be WoL or Ascians depending on reading. If it’s the Ascians and they’re taken as fallen angels I mean devils are fallen angels. But that also mixes metaphors given proud angels earlier. If mixed metaphors are a non-issue though, “Hindmost devils” through “sleep when they die” would more or less translate to the oldest devils are the first to act and seize power. They celebrate the coming of night and do not sleep. “Heaven’s banquet” through “pride” again, disclaimer mixed metaphor going on but I think it might be neat if it is WoL and co. or more specifically Hydaelyn. I don’t think it strictly comes to Heaven/Heroes = evil but that Heaven has hidden corruption that makes people feel better about themselves but is kind of ugly. Then again, all of this could probably be flipped too. This section is tricky. But if run from the light = Hydaelyn that shit’s gonna be fascinating. Also, I do think Zenos whether he just attempts or succeeds in nabbing one of the big two primals is actually gonna go for Hydaelyn. Lots of reasons for this including “she won the first time” and “Zenos dun give af about creation” and “she’s right there whereas Zodiark is super scattered” and “Zenos is basically an opposite to Emet-Selch philosophically and might work as another way of exploring negative light connotations”. But run from the light would be reaaaaal interesting if that goes down.

“Authors of our fates/Orchestrate our fall from grace” the characters involved created the primals themselves, in so doing being the authors of their fates and damning themselves when shit went out of control. Could precede that too and be broadened to other circumstances probably. I do think it is gonna come up that all the bad shit that happened stemmed from choices made though. “Poorest players on the stage/Our defiance drives us straight to the edge” references some Shakespeare. This being “Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player/That struts and frets his hour upon the stage/And then is heard no more. It is a tale/Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury/Signifying nothing.” Shakespeare bit is saying that life is brief and ultimately not real/an act where everyone worries during the brief span of the story but all too fast it’s over. There’s a ton of passion but ultimately it’s small and petty and meaningless. If we link this back to poorest players on the stage and the defiance, it is basically challenging the idea of a brief life being meaningless. So would apply more to the mortal characters. “Reflection in the glass” I thiiiink might reference the idea of real identity versus not real but idek. “Recollections of our past/Swift as darkness, cold as ash/Far beyond this dream of paradise lost” these lines are prob linked as a trio far as I can tell. Memory comes fast as darkness/the coming of night (tying back to sing come twilight maybe? also the end of the world as it is), cold as ash refers to the dead of Amaurot probably. And I’m not positive on that juxtaposition with paradise lost, but it may be suggesting that the dream of perfection rings hollow and there’s a reason that what is now being remembered as paradise is long dead.

One more chapter = gotta get closure for Amaurot and the Ascians. “Want for nothing, nothing denied/Wand’ring ended, futures aligned” this took me a bit, and it feels like possibly a reach imo, but my guess for now is: Emet-Selch was talking before about maybe there being a way forward without so much bloodshed. I still think guy’s gonna come back as a clone and I think/hope that we can fuckin’ trust recruit him (”I may even lend you my knowledge and strength” I AM HOLDING YOU TO THAT EMET-SELCH IF I HAVE TO BEAT MY ENEMIES TO DEATH WITH YOUR CORPSE) and find some kind of middle ground that doesn’t just = fuck Amaurot and destroy Zodiark. That would feel too simple to me. I kind of think some sort of rejoining will need to happen... but not simply Zodiark rejoining into a giant monster primal. I think Hydaelyn and Zodiark gotta become one being.
Also. If that is the case Lahabrea better have some fucking good notes to justify that dumb attempt to fuse with Igeyorhm in a first-time aether experiment while fighting the Warrior of Light. Because then it would be more cool even if the timing was still terrible life choices.

god okay FINE I'm posting it here because I'm so tired of sending screenshots 😭😭

namjoon: son of one of the king's subjects, young genius military general
tae: crown prince, protected and educated
jin: son of the kingsguard or st, tae's tutor
hobi: son of someone important in the court, eventually hand of the king
jungkook: (some gendry baratheon esque origin story?), just a stable boy/blacksmith who becomes friends with them and maybe eventually becomes Important
jimin: prince from another kingdom, v hot
yoongi: thief/rebel/hitman, v close friends with jk
• tae has three childhood friends: namjoon, hobi, and jin
• they play together a lot and when they get old enough for riding lessons they get to know and play with jungkook too, the stable boy's tiny son
• everything is very cute, childhood friends in the palace, they get into mischief, they gotta save baby jk out of trouble sometimes or st
• when they hit early teens they start training for different things. tae is a prince and he hates the weapon practice (he's a little better with a bow and arrow but his dad insists on him learning the sword), he also learns about history and diplomacy from jin (who becomes his tutor), and strategy from jin and also namjoon, who's getting more weapons and strategy training from jin's dad the head of the kingsguard (sometimes he just hangs around during the history lessons too bc he's fascinated)
• hmmm during this time joon may or may not have a crush on seokjin :0 he's older and smart and sociable okay
• hobi and jin have a thing for helping out/hanging around the kitchens sometimes, more than the others
• hobi drops by the lessons sometimes too, hes the best archer out of all of them, he's super charismatic and friendly and he ends up getting trained as the future hand of the king (he can also usually talk his way out of any trouble pfft)

• so their early/mid-teens happen and it gets even harder to hang out/get playtime
• yes yes jin starts looking a bit more mature and is cute, namjoon and hobi have stupid crushes on him and tae notices but rolls his eyes and doesnt say anything
• and then, One summer, namjoon starts training in swordfighting more intensively and puberty hits him like a brick wall
• everyone, even tae, was kinda lowkey thirstin
• they once watched namjoon train (jin was rarely out in the training field bc he's gonna be a scholar not a fighter, so he's like gulps waow he looks good, hobi is staring at joon's muscles, tae was like okay maybe I do like boys too cool that's convenient bc in this universe alliances can also be made with same sex marriage, even jk is like wow namjoon hyung ur so strong!! with big googly eyes)
• hobi whistles and namjoon fumbles with his practice sword and drops it LMAO and they're like yep there's the namjoon we know moment's over
• and then they just all go Thru it ykno puberty is a thing. hobi gets more beautiful, tae is still gangly/short and his face is somehow too long and small at the same time and he thinks he still looks basically the same as when he was 10 (he complains about it to himself)
• tae doesnt mind the lessons with jin, hates the weapons practice, but honestly what he loves the most is drawing. he has drawings of his friends, drawings of them just chilling, drawings of hobi and joon training (hobi looks so graceful 🥺), but his favorite is just sitting on a mound of hay at the stables and drawing jungkook while jungkook goes around doing stable boy work
• tae doesnt know when it happens, but jk also hits puberty and he realizes that when he's shading in jk's shoulder muscles and biceps and he internally goes "wow, he's attractive" "wow, I like jungkook"
• "oh no, I like the stable boy"
• tae avoided the stables for a like a week while he tried to process his feelings but things go back to normal eventually. jk was sad but he's sure prince taehyung has a lot of stuff on his hands
• the first time tae comes back jk addresses him formally and tae was taken aback like why are u calling me your grace?? we're really good friends? jk shrugs and goes "I can go back to calling you taehyung" "please" and everything mostly goes back to normal after that. tae hides his feelings to be processed another day, or to just go away. he's destined to be betrothed to another prince anyways

• they start turning 18 and they start doing actual jobs in the castle. joon proved himself to be super smart and he's been promoted to a junior advisor to the military general/kingsguard commander person
• jin becomes a full time scholar and hangs out at the library. sometimes namjoon comes in and borrows books and he's still flustered around jin even though they've known each other their whole life
• hobi is THE best event planner and also micromanages everything else as the hand of the king, also works closely with tae about events and balls and council meetings, which tae attends more and more as his 18th birthday draws near and he'll be expected to start making actual decisions and be an official member
• tae is a little intimidated by how good hobi is getting at micromanaging the kingdom and sometimes thinks hobi would make a better ruler instead :(
• the summer before tae turns 18 jungkook goes away for the summer to idk take care of his sick grandma at the countryside or st, tae is grumpy and he could easily arrange for kook's grandma to be brought to the castle and taken care of by handmaids and stuff but that's cheating (a big theme for this fic is maybe even though tae is maybe the next in line for most powerful person he still feels trapped and limited by his position)
• anyways while jungkook was away that's when he meets yoongi, may have dabbled in a bit of Anarchism™️ with him idek
• in the fall JK comes back and is HOTTER than ever and tae is STILL so damn gay for him and something's changed like...there's more tension between the two of them when they see each other but they barely do throughout the fall because tae is so busy with castle responsibilities now with his 18th birthday happening so soon
• tae turns 18 and hobi arranges for him to meet his betrothed, the prince from another kingdom who tae has to marry for alliance purposes
• he's managed to squash his feelings for jungkook but he still draws, he has like a sketchbook full of drawings of him akdjdk at one point jungkook asks "are all your drawings of me, hyung?" in a light but lowkey flirty tone and tae just deadpans "sometimes I draw the horses, or the hay"
• anyways, prince jimin will be staying at tae's family castle for the year as the two get to know each other better
• jimin looks HELLA ethereal and light and tae is INTIMIDATED he makes a fool out of himself trying to be too formal or official or whatever and jimin just laughs (lightly, like flower petals) and tells tae to chill, it's okay
• they talk about the little things like the climate and the food and hobbies etc
• jimin is v friendly and charismatic and half of it is for show but not in a bad way. he knows how to play the crowd and play the flirty charismatic prince, but deep inside he's sad that he's trapped in this life and sometimes thinks about flying away to another life
• there's not really any romantic chemistry between vmin but one day they were just chatting in tae's room when jimin suddenly? kisses him?? Tae is SHOCKED his hands are over his mouth touching his lips like oh god...that was my first kiss....and his stomach turns because it wasn't with jungkook
• jimin is profusely apologizing and freaking out a bit like "I'm sorry, I've never been betrothed before, idk what I'm doing I thought it would be good to try? to see if we work? like that?? I just want to make this work" and they figure out that jimin kissed tae bc he felt like he had to :( they figure out that they dont really have any romantic feelings for each other but that's okay they respect and appreciate each other a lot! (jimin may or may not know about tae's crush, maybe just that there's someone out there he likes, and jimin is in love with freedom but can never have it) ("what about you?" "Me?" Jimin gave a knowing while, his answer ready. "I'm in love with open doors and fields stretched out for miles. I'm in love with the stars and the infinite mysteries they hold." "Are you always this grossly poetic?" Jimin just laughs and shoves tae lightly.)
• anyways vmin bffs!! they chill and they remain platonic, because tae is still so so gay for jungkook
• especially now that his baby fat is starting to go away and his features are getting sharper, his muscles even MORE defined how is that possible
• tae is doing a p good job of looking more mature too he's starting to fill out his gangly body more, his face less childish and more "regal," as jungkook describes one day
• jk totally has an Oh moment too like "I never noticed your face" "what about my face" "it's so...it's a prince's face" "...what's that supposed to mean"
• they ride together sometimes and one day when the castle responsibilities are too much tae grabs a basket of food and drink from the kitchens, rides out somewhere to the meadows with jungkook and has a picnic with him
• they've snuck food out and hung out before but this time it felt a little different on the way back like they're both like it's time to go and jungkook grabs the harness/leash for the horses and leads tae's horse to him and they just share a look, both of their hands touching the leather strap of the harness
• nothing happens they get to the castle and that night tae DOESNT think about how he shouldve kissed jk right there and DOESNT think about jungkook's big defined muscles holding him down
• YOONGI IS SUPPOSED TO KIDNAP TAE FOR RANSOM TO FEED HIS TOWN/FAMILY BUT ACCIDENTALLY TAKES JIMIN INSTEAD
• jk: the prince is very beautiful
yg: [sees jimin and thinks it's tae] yes, very beautiful
• yoonmin have heated/enlightening discussions about Government. hot.
• yoongi is angry at the noble class for hoarding all the resources. jimin reasons that they give fairly. yoongi complains about his family/town starving in the streets etc more medieval government discourse
• jimin is the trapped bird in a cage and sees yoongi as the Freedom and adventure that he wants. yoongi was supposed to complete a mission but he falls for jimin instead
• (jk has to be promoted somehow so he can look nice and be in the castle akdjd) (and be promoted so tae can acceptably smooch him) - JK SAVES TAE from somethinG like he brought tae home on horseback and then gets appointed as tae's personal escort/bodyguard
• BEFORE I FORGET taekook kiss eventually and of course it happens in the stables and right after the first kiss jk leads him to like behind this post or st so passersby cant see them immediately and they kiss more and in between jk just chuckles/laughs and tae is like :(?? what and jk is like nothing its just that I've seen you trip over [the hay? the fences?] so many times in here and tae is like >:(( are u gonna reminisce about our childhood or keep making out with me
There was an ending here but I think it's in my other doc skdjsk ah well you'll just have to deal with this :)
