Ushijima-Oikawa parallels with Kageyama-Hinata

To me, Ushijima and Oikawa are like a tragic parallel to Hinata and Kageyama. If Oikawa had gone to Shiratorizawa then he and Ushijima could've had the partnership that Kagehina had. But because he didn't, they will never know what it's like to make the other feel invincible.

Shipping goggles aside, the parallels have to be intentional (haikyuu is too well-written for it to be just a coincidence): Both Ushijima and Kageyama were framed as naturally gifted volleyball monsters. Meanwhile Oikawa and Hinata believed that they were just average (even though the people around them know that they have their own strengths). Ushijima was the one who kept winning against Oikawa, just like how Kageyama was always ahead of Hinata. Both Hinata and Oikawa went abroad to gain experience so they could finally beat their rival. Ushijima and Kageyama are both awkward, intimidating, and ASD-coded while Hinata and Oikawa are framed as easy-going extroverted chatterboxes. These pairs are literally so similar it's crazy. Look at them and tell me it's not intentional

It also makes sense when you consider that their playstyles are also complementary. Kageyama and Hinata were a good match for each other because Hinata needed Kageyama's precision and Kageyama needed someone agile to match his own speed. But Ushijima's only requirement is for the ball to be set high and the right distance from the net so it's easy to hit. And which setter is known for dedicating themselves to their spikers, giving them easy sets? Oikawa. They truly could've been a terrifying duo.

I think Furudate was trying to show what Kageyama and Hinata could've been if they didn't team up. They'd still be strong, sure, but not invincible like they were in Karasuno. (as opposed to the Miya twins, who were supposed to show what they could've been like if they had an equal from the very beginning)

But in the end it all worked out for everyone! They all got to play on the world stage together. Ushijima and Oikawa even had their reconciliation at the all stars match (still waiting on the Oikawa-Kageyama reconciliation please please please 👀). They're all happy so I suppose it isn't actually tragic. I just cant help but wonder what could have been if Ushijima and Oikawa learned what it's like to be each other's greatest ally. Hinata and Kageyama were so lucky to have found each other after all.

So I saw someone complaining about Chaggie not showing enough physical affection like Fizz and Ozzie do. And someone replied saying they were more like Bee and Tex and yes! This is my new favourite comparison! A lovely sweet couple who is just chill and in love!

I don't mind headcanons that Bail and Obi-Wan were friends before the clone wars started (and I don't think we're told either way in current canon - as far as I'm aware), but the legends meeting -> near death Speedrun to being TOO close is still my favorite iteration.

Bail being like hey I have a spy who has information on the Sith/a Sith planet but we have to meet her in person to get the goods. Obi-Wan, recovering from a speeder crash, being like this feels like a trap but we really can't ignore this Intel can we. Them getting stuck on a small ship together. They both think each other is kind of stuck up. Bail watching Obi-Wan meditate shirtless.

Meets the spy only to immediately get caught in a firefight and Bail has to experience the realities of war for the first time and it changes his view on the conflict forever. They get to the Sith planet and it is immediately Obi-Whump time in the best way, they are both having the worst times of their lives. They still aren't really getting along. Obi-Wan has to get Bail to promise to kill him at one point if it gets to a certain point. They manage to make it out through the skin of their teeth with five million in jokes and a friendship so close that it makes literally everyone else uncomfortable. What could be better than this.

Uni-fying the requests because.

there's a part of me that is just DYING to write my take on a s1 bucktommy au where tommy's still at the 118 when buck joins but every time i sit down to start it i get hung up on how different they both were back then (especially with tommy being in the closet) and i'm like 🧐🧐 wait how can i even make this WORK the way they do as they are now. bc so much of why i love them in s7 is how well i think it worked that tommy is this settled, confident guy who has experienced so much and developed so much by s7 and is ready to be the one taking big swings in love, and buck has also changed a lot and is actively seeking something missing in himself by the time they meet,,, and them meeting when tommy was still closeted and anxious and resistant to revealing that part of himself while also buck was still closed off to his own issues and trying to bandage over all the problems in his life would have been so different,,,, but at the same time i can't get over how iconic buck getting a meredith gray intern-accidentally-sleeping-with-my-boss arc in combo with discovering his sexuality and his his s1 self-destructive behaviour could have been ??? much to think abt (but also it just goes to show how powerful the character development is on this show that the characters have developed so much over the seasons i'm kissing the writers with tongue)

I gave myself a writing challenge and I am fascinated by it

So basically I put the robins in a randomizer to give them a new order/role (because I just...kinda wanted to see what would happen + I like role-reversal AUs) and got results that are giving me a fucking brain blast.

Stephanie, the first sidekick who defines the role

Tim, the sidekick who dies and comes back wrong

Dick, the sidekick who saves Batman from himself

Damian, the sidekick who was never supposed to be a sidekick but would go on to prove everyone wrong

Jason, the youngest sidekick who is still the Kid Wonder

...So this is fucking wild. I've got some ideas and several of these fit perfectly (Dick's role is pretty similar to his one in canon), but some of these are fucking INCREDIBLE to explore (Steph being the first Robin is something I never even considered but tbh I kinda love it).

I probably won't write a fic or anything because tbh I don't like publishing my writing that much, but I might expand this into a full AU and post about it. I might randomize other stuff too (ie, stuff that I cannot change vs stuff that I cannot keep the same) but this fucking rules as a starting point.

Wayne putters around the kitchen fixing himself a cup of coffee, trying to keep an eye on Eddie and Steve on the sofa without looking like he’s keeping an eye on them. Steve (not Harrington - saving his boy’s life really fast tracked the kid to a first name basis) had been over a lot more recently. He knows they think he hasn’t noticed since they seem to mostly hang out while he’s out on his night shift, but there are clues. Wayne knows Eddie and there is no way that boy suddenly learned how to make so many home cooked meals and remember to do the dishes afterwards. The two are sat with their heads tilted together having a very intense whispered argument. Wayne smirks into his mug of coffee - Eddie’s had a lot of half started conversations with him recently, acting like he’s building himself for an Important Conversation only to tell Wayne that he’s going out to buy milk, or there’s an extra band practice he’d forgotten about, or on one occasion saying absolutely nothing, doing an about turn, walking out the trailer and vanishing for three hours (not that he really vanished - Steve called to say Eddie was at his because Lord knows Wayne can only cope with his nephew vanishing once in his lifetime thank you very much). Now he’s not one to pry, but between Eddie’s sudden jumpiness, how much more time he and Steve spend together, and how lighter the two now are he can make a pretty informed guess on what Eddie wants to tell him. 

The whisper-arguing cuts off abruptly and Wayne attempts to appear casual as Eddie jerks his head towards him.

“Uncle Wayne? We- I need to talk you. It’s important.”

Wayne nods and sits in the chair opposite them, giving them his full attention. Just because he already knows what they’re going to tell him doesn’t mean he shouldn’t listen.

Eddie takes a steadying breath and Steve gives his hand a comforting squeeze. 

“There’s something I’ve been needing to tell you for a while.”

Wayne nods encouragingly.

“I’m-”

Wayne leans forward in his seat slightly.

“I’m not allergic to celery.”

Was joking with a friend that "Dismas/Reynauld and Baldwin/Sarmenti would have the craziest double date" and realised that maybe can share the dumb headcannons too
