I feel like I need to tell everyone how brilliantly the Globe incorporated a deaf Gildenstern into the 2018 Hamlet and then force all of you to watch it
ok, so Gildenstern is played by a deaf actor, Nadia Nadarajah. he* signs all his lines, and either Rosencratz interprets for him, or the person he’s talking to says something that makes it obvious what he just said, depending. how each character reacts to Gildenstern is completely in-character and often hilarious
Claudius and Gertrude are intensely awkward around Gildenstern. they obviously don’t know BSL so they just gesture emphatically but aimlessly when they talk.
Hamlet, who of course is friends with R&G, *does* know BSL. he starts off by signing fluently whenever he’s talking to them but, as his distrust of them grows, he signs less and less until he’s only signing the equivalent of “fuck off” whenever he talks
Polonius just shouts really loud whenever he tries to talk to Gildenstern
it’s all brilliant and adds another layer of humor and pathos and you should all watch it
*casting at the Globe right now is gender neutral so I’m just going to use the character’s pronouns

I cannot imagine isolating your non-american viewers so thoroughly. First by saying that $6 USD is something everyone can afford (untrue in and of itself) when for some of my friends that's literally their food for a week in their currency. That's literally more expensive than most other streaming services that have more content than can possibly be watched because those streaming services actually alter pricing based on local currencies. What in the actual fuck??
But on top of that even if they COULD afford it they are literally incapable of paying for it because of where they live? Practically coding into the goddamn service that fans outside of the US can't access the content. That is INSANE. And IDK about everybody else but I'm not gonna buy a VPN for the sole purpose of watching 1 streaming service (does the VPN strat even work?).
That's gotta be a record or something holy shit. It'd be funny if it wasn't also genuinely sad for a lot of people. I've been a casual viewer who only tunes in for like 2 shows so this doesn't actually impact me that much, but I see people who have been effectively locked out of seeing their favorite creators not because of the paywall (which would be bad enough) but because they LITERALLY CANNOT ACCESS THE SERVICE and it pisses me off.

Bruce and his goals are 'good' but Arlecchino and her goals are at least dubious#I also think that classifying either of them as a good or bad parent is kinda impossible for mostly the same reasons#the child sidekicks/spies is kinda a trope at this point + there's so much textual evidence for both conclusions

Barbara#her golden days as Oracle are second to none and even without my heavy 'active-improved-my-life' bias she'd probably be up there#though frankly IDK if she fully counts as a 'batkid' during that time.#favorite right now? Damian#his writing is very inconsistent but there's enough of it that there's a BUNCH of good stuff going on with him#it could also just be me feeling the hype for Juni Ba's take on him. which I am both excited and scared for.#because Juni Ba is an artist and writer whose work I love and who I KNOW is capable of writing a good story.#so if it's bad I'm not just gonna be like I am normally where I accept that DC's quality is a little wonky. I'm gonna actually be sad#favorite potential? Stephanie#if people fucking cared about her they'd realize that she's probably the most interesting character. she's at least top 2 for me personally#she has so much untapped potential and unexplored character traits/relationships. even outside of her relationship with her dad.#because I STILL don't think that's been properly interrogated in canon. I'll give Batgirls credit for trying...but like...it's Batgirls#her relationship with her mom is FASCINATING; like 1/2 of the people I talk to about Batfam don't know she was pregnant/has a daughter#she hasn't broken the no-killing rule but she has entertained the idea before. she is the only vigilante who can exist as she is without B#speaking of Bruce...her relationship with him is so fucking unique and it drives me INSANE that more people don't focus on them#Bruce is genuinely horrible to her at points and he also genuinely believes he is doing what is best for her.#He is not her father and they both know that. They also both know that 'Robin' is a role that means 'child' and 'Batman' is 'father'#the last thing she asks him was if she was ever really robin. did she ever mean anything to him? he answers that she was. he means it.#but he also (at least partially) is only using her to get Tim back (or get back at Tim depending on interpretation). it's fucking horrific#Bruce is so incredibly dismissive of Stephanie and this makes her develop a fucking complex about never being good enough#the first time she is allowed to be a Bat without any ulterior motives involved is after Bruce is 'DEAD'#the happiest and most successful time of Steph's life that we see is only allowed to occur when Bruce is gone.#but they clearly care about each other. He imagines her alongside the others in any 'perfect life' sequences. She puts up with him when#she is arguably the ONLY ONE who has no fucking reason to. it is fucking GOLD! If only a good writer was willing to mine it.

I hate people that still act like we just have NO idea where Kaeya's story is going and where it's going. It's something that's so clearly foreshadowed at this point that it surpises me people don't get it.
