so. it's been a few months. OOPS. the creative juices have not been flowing lately BUT WE ARE SO BACK. and getting festive!! today we're decorating for christmas with our beloved infinite blue boys. this one won't be full fics but more so thoughts strung together. throwing my brain at my computer screen and seeing what sticks type beat. shoutout to itsu for the art that made me go insane abt the boys and desperate to write smth again. also shoutout to ito for listening to me ramble my thoughts aloud. always a pleasure to brainrot with u. determined to try and get back to regular writing but we shall see how that goes LMAO. for now enjoy christmas decorating gamers WOOOO.
♡ leo ♡
Leo gets SO excited for Christmas time. He loves seeing the neighbourhood lit up with strings of lights and bright displays of festivity. He's not one to hold back either with his own decorations. Leo has built up a rather eclectic collection of decorations and baubles for his Christmas tree, most of them being movie references or themed. Stormtrooper wearing a Santa hat, a resin hanging decoration made to look like a stack of Lord of the Rings books, that sort of thing. He excitedly asks what sort of fun decorations you own or want to get because he wants the tree to match both of your interests. Definitely surprises you with a few that he thinks you'll like, barely able to contain himself. Leo is bad at keeping presents a surprise. He just loves seeing how excited you get!! Very much the embodiment of golden retriever boyfriend. Always. I can see Leo also having some decorations with sentimental value too. Like this one bauble he painted as a kid that's definitely not the prettiest mix of colours, but it brings back memories of childhood and excitedly trying to stay up late to see Santa leaving presents behind. He LOVES good christmas tradition too. Every Christmas Eve he's watching the same movie (probably Home Alone) with an array of snacks laid out to enjoy. He loves getting to share it all with you too as well as starting new traditions for future Christmases together. For example, this year he dumped strips of coloured paper on the floor, put his Christmas playlist on, and declared you were both making paper chains and paper snowflakes to hang around the house with the tinsel already on display. There's no such thing as too many decorations in Leo's world so I hope you're prepared for your home to look like a festive spirit exploded in every room. Bonus note he also owns sets of festive pyjamas specifically for December and will only wear these. If it's not Christmas related he isn't touching it. Also owns slippers made to look like reindeer.
♡ milo ♡
Milo might just be the worst one to decorate for Christmas with. He's never really been overly fussed about buying decorations or a tree and has literally nothing of the sort at home. He hadn't even considered the thought that you might want to indulge a little and spend a day or two putting up lights or finding a tree for your shared living room. When you do mention the idea to him, Milo is somewhat surprised, but will nod along that sure you can get a tree. Will suggest you buy one of those pop-up trees that comes with the ornaments already attached because it's easier and will only take a couple minutes to set up and put into place. It takes a lot of convincing to sway him away from that idea. He doesn't seem to realise that half the fun is spending hours fighting the tangled mess of lights, or finding that one specific ornament you bought a few years ago just to hang front and centre on the tree. Will only agree to it if you promise to buy him an early Christmas present too. Bribery is a wonderful tool for convincing Milo to join in all the traditional couple behaviours and outings. He'll enjoy it once he's there and sees how much you're enjoying yourself, but will make a point to complain about the weather, or that he's getting bored looking at different variations of the same lights. His boredom is easily cured by a request to get food before heading home. Once you're home, he offers to reach all the tallest parts you can't reach, but not before making a smug joke about how you only asked him to help because you wanted the extra pair of hands. At the end of it all, he'll be stood behind you, arms enclosed around you and pulling your back against his chest. Will rest his chin atop your head and admit that yes, he had a lot of fun today and yes he will do it again next year. Offers to take you out again next weekend to go ice skating or put together gingerbread houses. Just as long as you don't make him wear one of those awful Christmas jumpers Leo sent a picture of himself wearing the other day. You don't make any promises.
♡ rory ♡
Ever the hopeless romantic, Rory equally adores and despises this time of year. He loves the romanticism of the festive atmosphere, the twinkling fairy lights, the decadence of the food. He's secretly been craving the chance to share it all with someone else. But he would never admit to it. Which is also the cause for his self-proclaimed hatred of the holiday season. He likes to lament about how so much of it is commercialised and specifically catered to couples wanting an excuse to show off how cute they are. He'll acutely ignore the fact that you came home to him watching one of those cheesy Netflix Christmas rom-coms. The type where a prince gets isekaied into the suburbs of New York and falls in love with generic city woman. Will try to hide his face in the neckline of his sweater while you set down boxes of decorations to dress up the room. Claims he wants no part of it and acts all indifferent to your enthusiasm, though it is blatantly evident on his face that he actually means the exact opposite. So you get to hanging baubles from the tree, singing along to Christmas songs as they chime from the speakers. It's when you notice Rory stand up, eyes flickering from you, to the tree, to the floor, that you ask if he would like to give you a hand. Will say no, but you should move that one ornament a bit higher up. It will look better there. Or maybe add a different coloured one there to brighten up that section. Pass a box of ornaments to him and tell him that if he's going to comment on your decorating then he better just do it himself. Rory acts as though this is some large inconvenience but within minutes he's quietly singing along under his breath, a rosy colour staining his cheeks. Pull out some mistletoe and watch him turn an even brighter red. Do it I dare u. And once the room is sufficiently dressed up for Christmas, Rory will collapse back on the sofa, shyly admitting how much he loved spending the time with you as you burrow into the warmth of his side. Will get a little flustered but tries to play it cool until you tease him about finishing the rom-com you caught him watching earlier. Goes to push you away but immediately pulls you back in. Maybe he can be a little more affectionate than usual today. Maybe.
♡ alexei ♡
Alexei doesn't usually decorate a whole lot around the festive season. It's not for a lack of wanting to, nor does he dislike it at all, but rather he just never felt like he had a reason to before. For him, Christmas always felt like a very family-oriented time of year so after he moved out, the thought simply never occurred to him that he could go out and buy a tree and ornaments, even just for his desk at work. When you pose the idea to him to get your home all decorated up for the season, Alexei's interest is piqued. He will scroll for ideas on how to pick a colour theme and will get really into the colour ratio of the baubles too. He lines the tree with golden fairy lights and makes sure the balance of red and green baubles is even. Makes sure to find tinsel that matches the exact shades as well so it doesn't look mismatched at all. It's really rather cute how focused he'll get over it, eyebrows furrowed and this tiny little crease in his forehead. Stands with a look a pure concentration in the way his eyes are surveying the tree from top to bottom, his finger tapping against his lip while you watch from your spot on the sofa sipping a hot chocolate Alexei made for you. You tried to tell him he doesn't need to take it so seriously with the way he's alternating between different coloured baubles but your voice falls on deaf ears. He'll stand back to admire his handiwork, looking to you for excitable approval. Once he deems it good enough, Alexei will lay down, his head just beneath the tree, and he'll gesture for you to join him. He feels all tired out after a day of decorating and has a distinct urge to nap under the tree like a cat. Will sleepily ramble about how he's been looking forward to spending the holiday with you, how he's excited to try all these new things and start ned traditions with you until eventually his eyes betray him and they blink slower and slower and he's falling asleep in your arms.
♡ brooklyn ♡
Brooklyn's home on Christmas is a sight to behold. The man knows how to decorate no matter what the occasion may be. He always loves to make a day of it too. Expect him to wake you up with a cup of tea, already dressed in a cosy Christmas sweater with his hair unstyled and a little messy. Winter Brooklyn is a delight for the eyes. Especially when he's got a hand-knitted scarf bundled around his neck and matching gloves warming his hands. Drives you to a local Christmas tree farm he always visits on the first weekend of December every year without fail. The owners know him by name at this point and are particularly excited to see he has company this year. His hand is entwined in yours as you wander around, talking and musing together over which tree would fit best. If it's snowing, expect Brooklyn to flick a snow-covered branch at you, a dusting of cold powder freckling your cheeks. Will laugh but lets you throw a snowball at him as payment for the attack. Once you pick out the perfect tree, Brooklyn takes you to a local Christmas market to pick out some new decorations. He has a rather rigorous theme he likes to stick to but wants to add something meaningful to signify the two of you—especially with this being your first Christmas together. He tries not to go too overboard and is only stopped by the sight of a stall offering decadent mugs of hot chocolate. Once you're back home and in the warm, Brooklyn is lighting the fireplace, along with a few festive themed candles, and rolling up his sleeves. It's at this point you see just how serious he is about Christmas decorating. And it certainly pays off because once you're both done, the tree looks like someone opened pinterest, found the most visually pleasing tree and managed to extract it and place it directly in your living room. Brooklyn looks very pleased with himself as you praise his well thought out planning. Ends the day with a surprise gift for you because his family always had a tradition of giving a gift on Christmas tree day and he wants to keep that going with you. Is generally just the embodiment of Christmas rom-com love interest with how perfect he makes the day turn out to be.
♡ tobias ♡
Decorating with Tobias is so unbelievably chaotic. There is no rhyme or reason to the scattering of ornaments all over the floor. Decorations are everywhere except where they are supposed to be. He claims he's got a strategy but you're not so certain. He also doesn't really bother with any particular colour theming and just picks out what he thinks looks cool. Loves to have a range of different shapes and colours for the ornaments. Also buys a string of multicoloured flashing lights to drape around the tree because 'regular white lights are boring'. Tobias doesn't care too much about whether you put up a plastic tree or a real one, that is until he sees Brooklyn post a photo of his own Christmas tree on instagram and suddenly Tobias wants to buy a real tree too and make it look as aesthetically pleasing as possible. So he's dragging you out into the cold to go and buy one. Finds his idea of the perfect tree after a good hour of deliberating over which one looks best. Wants one that's got a good shape to it and has plenty of branches. In doing so, however, he very much overestimates how big his car is and how big his apartment is. Drives home with the top of the tree sticking between the seats it's basically sitting on the passenger seat with you. And then there's getting it into his apartment. It's just a little bit too tall so the top of the tree is bent over a little against the ceiling. Tobias rejects your idea to buy a saw and cut the trunk down because surely you can just trim to top, right? No, Tobias, you cannot. Ends up deciding to bend it so the top is angled down a little since you won't let him take the kitchen scissors to it. You're about to attempt to put the star on top until Tobias stops you, claiming he needs to make some adjustments before it goes up. Runs into the bedroom and returns like five minutes later with the star but now it has a picture of his face taped onto the front. Reaches up to put it on the tree but because it's a little too tall, the star is angled down so it looks like star Tobias is watching over like some cursed angelic watchman. Leo is very unsettled when he comes over to visit.

Sorry if this is a little foggy and poorly worded, but I have been sitting on this thought all day, after working on a scene from Mamoru Hosoda's Wolf Children, and might as well put it here. The scene in question is the one where little wolf-boy Ame, sweet child who loves stories and picture books and who struggles to come to terms with his hybrid identity, one day while out in the woods with his sister and his mother on a sort of wolf-training excursion suddenly starts crying. And the reason why is crying is that, in all the picture books, he keeps seeing the wolf depicted as the bad guy that ends up shooed away or killed. And because of such representations, now he wants to repress his wolf identity, that has always been a lively and funny, although hard to figure out, part of his life. He is terrified of being what he is because the narrow representations that he has access to tell him that the world does not like people like him. It's a powerful little moment in a beautiful movie, that always makes me tear up, and if you missed it I highly recommend you watch it. If you are not into anime movie and just curious of the scene, I found a clip on YouTube:
youtube
Anyway, this scene made my lonely braincel twitch, and I was thinking, now that we are approaching the end of this glorious - as far as the mediascape is concerned - year 2023, that many people underestimate the enormous power of fantasy narratives in expanding the borders of gender (and minority in general) representation. Having an author canonically establish that certain fixed categories do not apply to one or more characters for in-universe reasons takes away that nasty oblique excuse that some people use to deny and disparage diversity in media (where I live they usually sound like "they only made this character a person of color to please the woke liberalsTM even if the historical context doesn't allow it", or even, comically, "it is narratively implausible that this character is or shows to be queer but they were forced to do it by THE GAY LOBBY" - yes, this is an actual conspiracy theory loudly promoted by Italian journalists and politicians, and yes, I am personally deeply ashamed by it). Obviously, almost none of said people has the faintest actual interest in narrative aspects, but they still use the excuse to pollute the public discourse and attack minorities. And I am aware that there is a possible dark pitfall here: in the best possible world, we should not need to take the route of fantasy settings to have something that should never have been denied in the first place, but from a pragmatical standpoint it does work. Having authors saying "nope, sorry not sorry, they are wolf-children / angels and demons / weird vampires / anachronistic pirates in a fantasy context so your self-proclaimed laws of plausibility do not apply and you can shove them where the sun does not shine while we enjoy the show and put this beautiful, funny, delicate, deep and sad things on screen", is like having a cultural picklock which is also a cultural battering ram thrusting the representation-door open. Shows like Good Omens, Our Flag Means Death, What We Do in the Shadows (and their fandoms with their massive collective creative endeavour), by offering the symbolic shield of a fantasy setting can establish a safe space where 1. queer people (especially young people but not only) can finally recognize themselves and stop feeling like they are alone and don't have the words and images they need to describe themselves; 2. not queer people can get used to a larger set of possible identities and not only realise that 100% of said idenities are in fact - hold on to your butts - still people with thoughts and feelings and needs, but also, through the power of mimesis, acquire a deeper understanding of forms of life that they don't directly experience. Including, hopefully, understanding how similar we all are when it comes to us being ultimately a bunch of naked apes who walk on this spinning rock trying to be as little miserable as possible.
Again, sorry if this sounds clumsy and blunt, given how delicate and complex this subject is (one does not simply walk into Mordor talk about the lives and needs of other people like that), but I had this thought stuck in my shallow brain wrinkles and I wanted to try and put it into words.

okay soooo tell me your favorite thing about writing the epic beast that is OHDH. i want the directors cut lol
Ahhh Alex, bless you and thank you for sending this question ❤️😘
And oh boy, where do I start?!! It’s hard to pick just one, so here are three main things:
1) I think one of the trickiest yet most satisfying parts of the process was figuring out a) how any canon divergence made sense for the characters and their motivations and b) what the impact of those changes were on future canon events. It was such a fine balancing act and I had a lot of lightbulb moments in the shower (I swear my shower is some sort of creativity portal lol) solving plot problems. I had someone comment on AO3 saying how much they liked the ‘butterfly effect’ of the canon divergence and that sums it up so well, because one change at the start of the fic has a domino effect on everything else.
Sort of linking on from this, I also had so much fun making characters interact who never met in canon, or only had very minimal screen time together. Horacio and Chucho obviously never meet in the show, but their paths crossing in OHDH led to a whole new subplot and ultimately helped shape the ending of the fic. I wanted this to be a transformative work rather than a re-hash of canon, so if I achieved anything, I think it’s safe to say I achieved that!
2) I was also surprised how much I immersed myself in fic research, more so than I ever did for my degree back at university 😂 I knew I was going to have to do some research when the story got to a certain point, but I just kept falling down different rabbit holes and it expanded my reading list in all sorts of directions I wasn’t expecting. It got me back into the habit of reading books too, which I’m embarrassed to say I hadn’t done much of in recent years. But knowing I needed to read X or Y in order to progress with a certain scene or chapter was great motivation.
I must confess, my knowledge of Colombian history wasn’t great before (it’s not something the British education system covers), but my reading actually made me question and challenge the source material in ways I hadn’t before. So, shipping might be considered just shoving two characters together like dolls, but hey, at least I learnt some history along the way lol.
3) Getting to make up a tonne of backstory (especially for Horacio, who is a bit of a blank slate in canon) and create OCs. I’d never created proper OCs before this fic, so it was fun building them around the main pairing, giving them their own personalities and histories but also letting them affect the story. I think the different locations throughout the fic were like OCs of their own too (I’ve been contemplating a holiday to Madrid since I wrote the chapters set there lol), so the world building aspect of it was a fun learning experience too, and not something that came naturally to me at the start.
I’m sure there are so many more things! I will also say it’s been the steepest of learning curves re: my writing skills as well. I’m probably not even consciously aware of everything I’ve learnt, but going back to earlier chapters has been difficult, because I was obviously much more inexperienced back then lol. The urge to do re-edits has been real, but I don’t think I have the energy for that right now (and it was posted as a WIP, so by its nature it’s going to show the progress of my writing from start to finish).
Back in 2020/2021, I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone (I think it was around a time during the pandemic when I realised how uninspiring my day job is and how little motivation I have for it anymore, so pursuing creative hobbies away from it seemed like a better use of my time), and it's safe to say I managed that with this behemoth 😂 It's been a huge journey of self-discovery and realising what I'm capable of. Fic used to be something I thought only other people wrote, so there were times I'd pull a metaphor or certain phrasing out of thin air and laugh at my laptop in shock, because I didn't think I had it in me to be poetic lol.
So, my advice to anyone reluctant to start a creative project because they don't feel skilled enough, please, please, please do it anyway. Seriously. Because you will muddle through, learn so much along the way and surprise yourself ❤️
Ok that was a bit of a ramble, but you did say director’s cut, so here we are 😂 Thank you once again for sending this, I've been in such a reflective and bittersweet mood since finishing, so it's nice to focus purely on the positive aspects of the experience 😘

HI WAVES MY HAND IN THE AIR. PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT JARMO AND THE RED HOTEL. You mentioned the whole thing is gaining sentience slowly, how does that work ? Do its residents (when there are any) notice it, and how does it manifest at first ? Does it feel fear and stuff when there's like bad people inside ? And what about Jarmo, can he talk ? Considering he's less a person and more just a puppet apparition, I'd suspect he doesn't actually have a voice, but rather just uses one that he THINKS the people staying in will recognize as friendly. OH and and. Do you have a front of the hotel drawn :3 /NF IM JUST GENUINELY CURIOUS BECAUSE I IMAGINE THE FROMT COULD KINDA LOOK LIKE A FACE IF YOU SQUINTED. ENOUGH. Sorry im excited this concept is fascinating
HII WAVES BACK AT YOU. LOVE THE ENERGY LOVE THE CREATIVITY MY BROTHER
I realise now that my wording made it seem like the hotel itself, first and foremost, starts developing personhood and while that wasn't what I intended to say,.... Oh boy the potential??? You always present ideas so awesomely I can't not be inspired by them like. Oh man.
Okok I wouldn't say the hotel develops sentience (or rather sapience, like Jarmo) in that way but like. I imagine that further along the line it would kinda become like the house in Encanto, bc the hotel, in some sense of the word, is absolutely alive. It's like a self sufficient video game map that generates whatever is needed and it's capable of expanding and generating more space and items (granted it has enough energy, ykno, it needs sustenance). It's reactive, proactive, and has the ability to adapt. So while, with Jarmo I kinda debated over the emotions thing, with the hotel I....... (stares off into nothing) uh.
To tackle the part about fear and bad people, no the hotel doesn't have the capacity for judgement necessarily but it definitely will get aggressively more defensive, if for example, there are guests actively breaking shit and trying to break into places they're not supposed to go. Jarmo is actually meant to take care of this part if the guests start going too far and getting too destructive towards the hotel, bc it too is just trying to survive. I feel that yes, the guests would likely notice that this hotel sorta.. "behaves" very differently from how normal buildings should (which is to say, not really at all). The hotel is aware enough to know when a certain door should be "locked" (aka not have the capacity to be opened at all), or where a hallway should lead (exactly the place the guest was looking for. Unless it contradicts with being a place the guest isn't allowed into). I wanna say, you might be able to trick or outsmart the house, but you'll definitely get hit with the consequences later if you manage to do so as a guest.. And since the hotel is Jarmo's "natural territory", he too can influence it. Going back to that locked door thing, the hotel will know to make a door or area unavailable if Jarmo tells the guests that it is so. Also, if Jarmo states that some guest in particular is banned from something, the hotel will act accordingly
The hotel is also capable of being injured.
ALSO that idea about how the hotel looks from the outside. Fucking mint, I gotta say. That is so cool. But no I've almost never drawn locations or buildings, so I've got nothing except word description of how the red hotel looks. Even then tho, it is a place capable of warping with your perception or even independently from it. So.
And, you are so correct about Jarmo's voice! He is always and in every way, customer service mode 24/7. He does have a distinct voice, so it's not just a different one every time (consistency is convincing), but yes, it is a very manufactured, ad-reading esque, customer service voice. Actually, as I mentioned in some tags earlier, this started as a (LIVE ACTION) Roleplay setting, which meant I had to voice act Jarmo, so he does have his own voice! It's generic tho, yes. But it very much fits his face, and it's nuances can change with what the guests would expect to hear from a face like that, but generally it's a jolly, enthusiastic but contained, warm buttery voice belonging to an older man. With no discernible accent. Simultaneously so full of personality and so devoid of life.

Thomas/Tracey Lightwood: the trendsetter, protector, and more of a leader than we realise
I’ve come to the realisation that the main common thing the Merry Thieves have (aside from parents who are all friends and living in London and the same age) is that none of them are really compliant to the status quo. James is polite, but he will throw you in the river if you insult downworlders; Christopher won’t pick fights but he does have a fairly alternative pastime 90% of the time, Matthew identifies himself as a bohemian, and Thomas—well, we’ll get to him. In short, I see Thomas as the most quietly rebellious of them all, and somehow it took seeing him reimagined as a girl to see that.
This one’s actually quite a lot of Thomas, even though I will reference @thevagabondexpress’ genderbent counterpart. So, if you like Thomas or Thomastair, read on! Hopefully there’s something interesting here, and to set the mood, a simple playlist of Dorothea by Taylor Swift and Social Casualty by 5SOS. Why? Because I saw Tracey Lightwood grow into herself: someone who breaks the rules with the kind of expertise it takes to set trends and make meaningful change. We all want to be her, and she successfully manages not to be a victim of authority.
I’m going to go back to the beginning with this. In NBS, he’s the quiet one of the friend group who doesn’t like attention (James almost immediately sees their similarities, and makes sense, for he probably knew Thomas the best after the falling out of a tree incident about 4 years prior). But, despite his mother having been a mundane, he doesn’t see the little injustices and microagressions James does—at one point when James explains something he’s very annoyed about Thomas says he never thought about it that way. He also tries to get his friends to stop embarrassing him (with little success), even sometimes coming across a bit critical of Christopher’s creative ideas (which is understandable for a 14yo, but at the same time could have developed into insecurities Kit didn’t deserve). Anyway, my point is he’s still coming across as a good kid, who wants to please, and fit in. But as early as CLS, in the flashback at the start, we see him finding Alastair’s rude comments funny, and gravitating towards Alastair, who, at the time, seems the complete opposite of the sweet, kind and eager to please façade (and I would say it is genuine, not fake, it’s part of his personality, just not the whole of it) he puts on. It’s the classic stereotypical good girl/bad boy situation (but made gayer, drawn out, and overall just much healthier). What I mean by that, is the fawn-response-is-my-go-to-because-I-hate-any-kind-of-attention-as-it-always-involves-being-fussed-over people pleaser longs to be free from the box and the never-ending demands of interpersonal perfection and is thus drawn to someone who breaks their own rules, and who, learning from, they could figure out how to be themselves (except it’s not thought through that fully, like ever, it’s more like brain sees freedom potential + hot person I can maybe connect to; sounds fun, sexy, exciting, and like we will be less burdened by this burden we’re trying not to break it to ourselves we’re carrying).
Reigning myself in from discussing a certain band’s playing in to that exact thought process, Thomas might remind me of Calum but we’re discussing books.
Anyway, maintaining this half-true façade, like any kind of masking (and Thomas most definitely is masking, out of fear of social disapproval and attention), eventually gets exhausting, and usually leads to it breaking at some point and some rebellion coming through. For some, being away from strict parents for the first time means a time for trying new, more out-there things (that we would usually associate with teenagers, but some of us, yes me included, were for whatever reason scared or not confident to rebel). For some, our parents aren’t even that strict or anything, but the simple fact that we’re known as being one way by those around us means we kind of just stick to the role they give us, and we don’t have a clean slate to discover who we are behind all the masking and assumptions until we move somewhere we don’t know anyone. Thomas is the latter: when he moves to Spain, he gets a new weapon, the Bolas, he gets a tattoo, he goes to parties where he doesn’t know anyone even though it’s scary, and he more generally explores simply existing rather than being the ‘kind one’ of his friend group, or being Sophie and Gideon’s tiny, sickly youngest child. In some ways, his growth spurt is representative of a greater personal growth. Love that for him. And I think Chain of Gold is a bit of a weird mix of supportive friends ‘comrades with a gentle giant! Yay! Lets see tattoo hehe’ and viewing him in a box: ‘the kind one’ ‘our True Thomas?’ (in reference to his recommendation of not admitting to burning the house down).
But at least he’s portrayed as having a mind of his own (he got a tattoo, he chose not to go with his family but stay to help out in London, he was the first to befriend Alastair in London til Matthew dropped the bomb on him quite rudely). And this is where we get to the gender lens. For a man, this is somewhat bare minimum, expected. For a woman, it’s a statement (cue, Tessa Gray, ‘a woman with tattoos?’). And this is Tracey. She’s got a mind of her own: she got a tattoo, she has her ears pierced in a time it was uncommon (how rebellious, am I right?). She is a protector, of her friends especially but she’s also restless to be a hero, and doesn’t care about the risk. She helps Alice with her case, which we probably associate more with kindness than the kind of protectiveness that’s normalised in men but seems almost like, quoting Anna Lightwood, ‘stealing fire from the gods’ in a woman. But it's all part of the same picture. That, with her height and build, make her not exactly unfeminine but the kind of empowered that most women of her era never get to be, but in their hearts really want to. It makes sense why when she gets a bob out of necessity (10 years ahead of mundane fashion too) the practical and metamorphosing Christa and the fashionista Michelle follow her. And, unlike with Thomas, when she accepts Alice, her friends do pretty much follow her lead without fuss.
She’s still Thomas in so many ways: she’s not trying to get attention. It’s not her fault everyone would want to be her. Just like it’s not Thomas’ fault he grew up tall and muscular and handsome when he would much rather take up much less space, both literally and socially. Tracey surely is insecure about her size as well—and for both of them it’s something other people admire, and certainly don’t discriminate against them for—but the reaction does look slightly different. For Tracey, it’s more noticed, even unconsciously, but for Thomas, it’s more a passing observation. Though that could be something to do with the ratio of Alice POV to Alastair POV. Still, Tracey does come off a little more respected. Less restricted by her friends, maybe, or less affected by it if she is. Maybe because like how Thomas is emotional support person of the Merry Thieves (and that’s generally seen as a more feminine role) Tracey also usurps gender roles by being the protector. A bit less emotionally intertwined with their offenses, able to agree with Alice’s assessment of Judith as Claude’s ‘amnesiac trainwreck of a wife’ while she’s missing (I think Thomas would be fuming at that and very worried about James in that situation).
Backtracking a little—throughout the series, Thomas’ need to not be constricted comes out, most notably in his lone patrols. For Tracey, it’s much the same, but it also shows when she befriends Alice and actually defends her in front of her friends. She seems more confident. Maybe that’s why she’s such a trendsetter and you can’t help but want to be her a little. Maybe that’s why she can attempt to do her vigilante patrols without being placed under lock and key as a woman would usually be. I’ll think of her, and her confidence, when I go for that overdue haircut and my next piercing which will hopefully be creative in a good way and not simply strange (but who cares if it is, right?). And yet, somehow in the construction of this amazing character, she does lose some of that relatableness and adorable awkwardness that makes Thomas Thomas—and, to your credit, we mostly don’t see until Chain of Thorns (after we know him for everything else I’ve mentioned, he really is a beautifully real and complex character). Because it’s not like Thomas isn’t confident—he’s just got a bit of a dependent relationship with his friends, and most people he knows in general—considering his childhood, who is surprised? He is actually secure in his sexuality and confident to come out as gay—I think the only reason he doesn’t earlier is because he knows he likes Alastair and that Matthew will flip and he doesn’t want what he views as an irrational crush on someone he has beef against to cause conflict. Part of the way he’s protective of his friends is that he’s scared of making them feel hurt even briefly. I think Alastair helps him outgrow that. Because he does have a lot of Tracey Lightwood in him. Alastair knows he’s proud and good and has the heart of a hero. Yes he gets love for being awkward and a simp but Thomas is so much more than that, and there’s still more growing he has to do to grow into himself, even after Madrid and Paris where he first tasted freedom, and fully realise who he is—and who I needed Tracey Lightwood to be written to properly see.
Who Alastair saw all along, and I hope that as James and Matthew move past everything they've gone through pre- and during tlh that kept them both not exactly present, will also get to know and celebrate.

Because @ineedanamepplpls asked for it,
A post about a small group of my ocs :)
Might draw them later idk.
So we start off with Lea. Yes she is based off of a sim I made. Hush. She/her pronouns, straight (*gasp*), she’s half Arab and half Chinese, and she’s dating Reed, who we shall get into later. She’s a film student, really obsessed with period films set in like 1800s France and also noir films, is actually working on a script for a noir film with werewolves in it. She can play piano (though her dorm only fits in a keyboard), and eats just straight up peas as a snack. She shares a dorm room with Andie.
Andie, he/him (trans dude), bi, and he’s black. He’s dating Olive (who we shall also get into) but he did date Lea for a short while. He’s an art student, though he also does classes for Violin and does veterinary science to fill his empty time. He isn’t doing great in his classes because he’s a little distracted with his partner but he tries. He’s actually doing better than Lea is, she’s like three seconds away from getting kicked out because of how poorly she’s doing.
Olive, he/her (non-binary), queer but doesn’t explain how exactly she is, white. Dating Andie, and occasionally crashes at him and Lea’s dorm since it’s closer to some of his lessons. She has way too many of his own clothes there and that’s where he keeps his video games because her roommate hates them. She studies literature and history, and often shares with Andie some cringey lines in the books he has to read. Doing shockingly well in classes though she never attends his classes. Oh also he can see dead people and phase through physical objects.
Reed, he/him, straight (*another gasp*). dating Lea. Old old white man. He’s one of the professors at the school and also a superhero (since that’s the little universe idea they’re set in). And Olive’s dad. Which isn’t awkward or anything. He teaches one of Lea’s film classes though clearly doesn’t let their relationship sweeten up her grades at all. He has your classic super strength, Olive gets her powers from her mother’s side. Reed also doesn’t know that Olive is queer in any form nor that he’s dating anyone, let alone Lea’s whole ass roommate. That reveal would end up fairly awkward.
Jasmine is Lea’s sister, she/her, lesbian, half Arab half white, graduated a while ago, currently works as a TA for a music class. Occasionally pops in to see how Lea is holding up.
Alex, he/him, gay??, white. He has the form next to Andie and Lea’s and they yell at him all the time for having his music too loud. He’s kind of a himbo and genuinely doesn’t realise how loud he plays it. He’s a film student too and is the current planned director for Lea’s werewolf noir (he’s a big noir nerd too) but they argue a lot about creative choices regarding the werewolves designs. They don’t know much about him at all and everything they do know is a pure guess. He may or may not put cheese in his hot chocolate, based off of Lea seeing something in the corner of her eye one time and her always being low on both cheese and hot chocolate every time Alex comes over.

Hello! So I saw that post you made a few days ago answering an ask about your twilight headcanons and may I ask for some too? But specifically about your highschool au. I love the fact that you made Alice trans and Jasper with his nails painted! I would absolutely love read some ""behind the scenes"" of them :))
Awwwww :)) You liked DITS!!! My first foray into twilight fanfiction after a decade away!!!! This became a long, rambling tangent so bear with me
Thaaank you :)) You didn't ask for this but I'm feeling like a yarn:
For me, DITS was just about exploring how I could shape the Cullens the way I wanted them, mostly because I was retroactively unhappy about the media I consumed as a teenager being so hegemonic.
Because vampires have always been about 'The Other' yknow? The fringes, the outside of culture. To me, in core vampire media it emphasizes aversion to danger, a threat to human normalcy. For twi-hards, the allure might be more in it's secrecy and the feeling of exclusivity.
And that's also what popularity is, so I thought it'd be fun.
But I was also starving for media that was More Gender, and I was at a stage in my life where I wanted something familiar, that my then-current stage of sexual and gender identity wasn't. It was new, it felt painfully secretive, it was embarrassing to be so invested. So I just did DITS and it's also why I will probably never go back to it. I've managed to grow since then, phew!
But if they had continued, I think they were suburban enough to persue college;
Academically, Emmett would have a 'C's get degrees' mindset, and I'm not sure he would manage to finish a degree. But if he flunked out he would have just worked, because you don't need a uni education to make a living. He ends up doing hostel work around the world - backpacking around and doing odd jobs. He falls in love with traveling, discovering new things and new places.
He's got a knack for languages, not because he is particularly good at them, but he's earnest and he tries, and he's confident enough in his skills in charades and the kindness of locals when encountering a lost tourist that it usually sees him through (unless he's in France) He starts a travel blog, with some short video films, to keep his friends n family updated.
THE HEADCANONS, AFTER THE EPILOGUE:
Edward does a bachelors, probably a Masters, probably does the broke orchestra, starving artist grind. (He and Jake don't last, they're drift until they realise there might not even be friendship between them.) He ends up getting a position in a sound production company, and got a couple gigs composing soundtracks.
Jake ends up getting a scholarship for creative writing. He found his niche in poetry focusing on his position as a non-straight first nations man. He gets published in his college journal first. He meets literati of the academic set. He fits in. He ends up becoming a college professor.
Bella studies journalism, she wants truth and she wants honesty. She ends up reviewing movies on her local paper. She goes viral on the internet for shitting over a few high-profile trash-heaps and gets a Rodger Ebert-level of respect, jk she's a woman so she gets an incel hatetrain and has to leave social media. But she stays a popular critic, with therapy and processes to deal with trolls n doxxing. Despite it all, she likes it.
Jasper doesn't bother with college, he gets a job as a gopher on movie sets, he finds that he's handy enough with some shitty opensource software to start editing equally shitty student films.
Alice pursues fashion design. She goes long-distance with Jasper, when he moves to LA. After she graduates, she ends up having Emmett come with her to her mother's home country. They do touristy things and they catch up after about 5-8 years of not seeing each other.
Rosalie ... drifts. She finishes college, get an office job, but her dad dies soon after she graduates. She doesn't take it well, but her mother takes it worse. (Her little brother Kenny ends up moving in with their paternal grandparents to finish high school, his own choice.)
She and Emmett travel down to Brazil after her graduation, to visit her maternal grandmother. But it's an awkward 2 weeks, and after they get back they have one of those heart-wrenching, sobbing break-ups that wounds both of them. She calls him 'the one who got away' but mostly because it annoys Edward. She and Edward end up living together for a spell, and they are both, to their chagrin, the best roommates each of them ever have.
Carlisle and Esme get together. Carlisle waits until he's officially an empty-nester, after the kids graduate high-school, to have her move in with him. It's a wonderfully ordinary wedding, one of the last times all the gang see each other.
Maybe a decade passes ... maybe more.
They meet again mostly by accident.
In his long and varied career, Emmett becomes assistant director on an arthouse film by some european company. The title of the movie is a poem that inspired the script. A poem by one Jacob Black.
Alice designed and made the costumes, but she was too removed from the project to know who else was involved. Except Jasper, who edits the film, since they'd eloped after they missed each other too much to be apart.
Edward scores the music, and he meets Emmett almost be accident during the recording of the score.
Rosalie is the main girl. Emmett had known exactly where a weird broke project could get a drop-dead gorgeous hard-boiled blonde. It's the first favor he'd asked of her since a ride to the airport after he let his American driver's license expire.
Bella reviews it with the relish of knowing exactly where everyone was. Maybe she wasn't the kindest to the movie itself, but her playful joy at naming each person involved almost made it glow.
They don't all attend the premiere, but they all end up seeing Bella's review, and seeing several familiar names, they end up converging onto Carlisle's house after years away.
It's not as though they all become famous in the entertainment industry, only Edward, Bella, Alice and Jasper continue to pursue any creative industry at all, but it's a moment where everything fell into place, and their connection were forged anew.

Hey girl, me again 🥺I’ve had this idea in my head for ages 🤔 based off the song ‘Polaroid’ by Liam Payne Mason Mount on holiday with the boys in Mykonos, him and the boys befriend a small group (reader and friends) bassically a holiday fling between reader and Mason but he never actually gets her name or anything just a few ‘Polaroid’ pictures of them both, few months later he’s been trying to find her but can’t and the lads convince him to post it on Instagram with the caption “Instagram do your thing” after a while he notices numerous different people (her friends) tagging the reader in it and turns out it’s her and sends her a message. Thankyou sweet cheeks 😎💙
aaahh bestie this is such a good idea
𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 — mason mount
summary: mason can’t find the girl he had a fling with last summer, so he takes to the internet to find you.
notes: my requests are open, ask away!
for @yourmypurpose
Winning the Champions League was supposed to be a feeling like no other, a feeling that you’d remember for the rest of your life. But Mason felt deflated, he felt like the world was closing in on him and he could do nothing but watch it happen. Even his friends noticed his awful mood, they’d gone from watching him run around the pitch with the trophy, with a smile nobody could take away from him, to this; a man not wanting to leave his bedroom, let alone his house. His career was the only thing he was doing well in, his girlfriend left him, he would just train, come home to an empty house, sleep, and repeat. It wasn’t a life worth living.
“It’ll be fun,” Declan pleaded, following his best friend into his living room, “it’ll be the perfect chance to get away from everything, from work, from the UK, from your ex.” He spoke the last part quietly, yet Mason still heard and shot his friend a glare as he sat on the couch.
“I’ll think about it.” Mason mumbled, reaching for his PlayStation controller and turning his console on. Declan was trying to get Mason to come to Mykonos with a few of the Chelsea boys, as a celebratory vacation after winning the Champions League. But he wasn’t budging.
“You say that, but you never do. Come on, if it doesn’t lift your mood, you can take the next flight home.” Declan was trying to reason with his friend, to do anything in order to get this man out of his sweatpants and into some swim shorts. This holiday was all Mason needed to get back into his rhythm, to realise you don’t need a girlfriend to be the best version of yourself, to realise he was Mason fucking Mount.
The look on Mason’s face was completely readable, a smile appearing on Declan’s face. Declan jumped onto his friend, cheering and shaking him vigorously. “You won’t regret this, we’re gonna have so much fun.”
Mason found himself in his plane seat, earphones on, and on the way to Mykonos. Greece had always been one of his dream destinations, it was one of the places he’d planned on going to with his ex. Shaking his thoughts from his head, he’d drowned himself in the music. Waiting for the next three hours to be over.
The villa was lovely, the view from his room was even better. He felt himself smile just a little, hopeful for this holiday. He’d spent the first day enjoying the food of Greece, visiting the beach, taking in the place he was staying. Every time the negative thoughts would try to push in, memories of his previous vacations with his ex, he shut it down. He forced a smile and laughed with his friends, hoping they didn’t see through this façade.
It was tiring. Getting back from a busy day and then being told there was a club in town. Having to force that smile back onto his face once more. He still dressed appropriately for the night ahead, pre-gaming with his friends before heading out to this club. It was only 8pm and it was packed, the place had an outside terrace, which didn’t seem so crowded.
Drink after drink, rounds of shots, drinking games with his friends and a few randomers. It was wild. Mason was finally beginning to let go of it all; his negative thoughts weren’t affecting him right now. It was pure bliss.
“Mase,” Declan called out, gesturing to him on the other side of the bar, “wanna play beer pong? These guys need another group.” Mason just nodded along, looking over to the group he was referring to. It was a group of four, just like them, but he’d locked eyes with you for the first time.
Throughout the game, you constantly had a smile stuck to your face, brighter than anything he’d seen before. It was the infectious type of smile, one that spread to his face too. The drinks had done a number on his movement, almost stumbling to the terrace, where only a few people sat. He took in the cool air, resting his head back onto the wall behind him.
“You good?” You questioned, sitting beside him and placing a hand on his shoulder. He quickly opened his eyes, turning his head to face you. There you were again.
“I’ve had a lot to drink,” Mason mumbled, breathing heavier than usual, “your twin looks so much like you.” You just laughed, understanding how much he’d had to drink. You had also had a lot to drink, but clearly Mason didn’t handle alcohol well.
“Here,” you instructed, holding his hand out for him and placing a cup into his hand, “it’s water, drink it.” You watched as he did so, downing it rather quickly and slamming it onto the table beside him. “Do you remember your name?”
“Yes, it’s Mount. Mason Mount.”
“Well, Mount, Mason Mount, do you remember where you’re staying? I think it might be an idea to get you home.” You spoke, the cool air sobering you up almost entirely. Mason’s head was getting droopy, you’d seen this all before, he was inches away from snoozing on your shoulder. You just giggled at him and stood up, grabbing both of his hands and pulling him up.
“We walked here from our villa, it’s a silly looking one. One with the pool shaped like a love heart.” You hummed, not knowing which one exactly, so his information rendered useless. He was leaning against you as you both walked back into the club, spotting his friends again.
“Hey, he’s had a lot to drink. I was going to walk him home but the only thing he said about the villa was that the pool was heart-shaped.” You laughed to his friend, who you’d learnt was called Ben. Mason was looking around the club, the multi-colored lights making his eyes squint in pain. This was the beginning of his hangover, he knew it was only going to get worse from here.
Ben had been kind enough to give you the villa address, and a key, so you made your way to the location. It was weird how trusting they were, for all they knew, you could be a psycho thief. You’d gotten to the villa, after an awful walk up the hill, and placed him on the couch. You didn’t even want to look at their stairs, let alone take Mason up them.
“I’ll stay here until your friends get back,” you spoke quietly, grabbing the blanket from the back of the couch and laying it over the half-asleep Mason, “night, Mason.”
“You never said your name.” He stated, craning his head to look at you as you sat on the opposite couch.
“Y/N.”
Declan had gotten back, wanting to arrange another outing together, a bit less boozy than a club. And here you were, on your way to spend the day on a boat. You’d brought your polaroid camera with you, hoping to get some nice pictures with your friends before you go home in a few days.
“You’re back.” You spoke, sitting beside Mason as the boat started to move. He smiled at you, handing you a flute of a sparkly liquid, which you’d taken without complaining. “Having fun so far?”
“Yeah, I’m glad I’m seeing you again. I don’t really remember much from last night apart from your face.” He admitted, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. You blushed, hiding it with your hands and reaching for your camera.
“What do you say to a picture? To remember this moment.” You suggested, holding the camera up at the two of you. Mason’s arm slid around your shoulders, pulling you in closer with a smirk on his face. You just smiled your usual, bright smile, and let the photo develop.
The day was spent enjoying the view, jumping off the boat multiple times, finally making your way back to the docks when the sun began to set. Everyone was sitting on the front of the boat, taking in the last few hours of the sun on their skin, whilst you and Mason were at the back together. Away from the sun, completely alone. You laid beside him, your eyes shifting to look at him every few seconds.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” He retorted, poking his tongue out at you as you laughed, shoving his leg slightly.
“Oh, I already have.” You replied wittily, holding the polaroid up to show him. It was quite a creative picture, actually. His skin was tanned, muscles perky, the sun hitting him in all the right places. He was very handsome, you could only imagine the job he had back home.
“Hey, give that,” Mason chuckled, reaching for the polaroid but you’d held it away from him. He leant over to you, hand out to grab it, but you’d both been focused on something else. How close your lips were. You could feel the other’s breathe, it was straight out of a movie the way Mason grabbed your waist and closed the gap between the two of you. He was pulling you down with him, your legs instinctively wrapping around his waist. This was an Oscar-worthy kiss.
You knew you wouldn’t see these boys again, as you didn’t have long before you returned back to the UK. So, as you were grabbing your things, you’d flicked through the polaroid's from today, finding the one of you and Mason.
“Here,” you spoke, holding the polaroid out for him to take, “I thought you’d like it. And it’s a way of remembering your time here, and the most gorgeous girl you’ve ever laid eyes on.” You joked, but Mason really felt that way. You were the most gorgeous girl he’d laid eyes on. He came on this holiday thinking it would depress him even more, but he found fun in you.
“Trust me, I won’t forget a face like that.” He replied, placing the polaroid into his wallet and smiling. “See you,” he whispered against your neck as you hugged, one last time, “someday.”
It had been two months since he’d returned from holiday, back to work, but more importantly, back to his old self. He enjoyed going to work, coming home, and spending time with his friends. He saw beauty in his mundane life again. But he missed you. He never thought he’d miss a two day fling with a random girl on holiday, it wasn’t even a fling, The pair of you hadn’t hooked up, only shared a kiss. But it was a good kiss, an unforgettable kiss.
“Have you searched her name up?” Declan asked, relaxing into the corner of Mason’s couch, rolling his eyes as Mason opened his wallet up for the fifteenth time that day. The boys were round for their frequent game day, a day Mason looked forward to.
Mason shook his head, slightly embarrassed to have forgotten your name, in his defense, he was out-of-this-world drunk. “I don’t remember it, I was hammered. Plus, I’m sure there’s at least a thousand people in this country who share her name.”
“Post the picture on Instagram, people always find people on there, it’s creepy.” Ben added, laughing at the end of his statement. It was a good idea, but was he ready to put it out there that he’d moved on, only for his ex to be mentioned in his comments again? Were you worth all of those nasty comments?
He’d posted the polaroid that evening, with the caption:
‘Instagram, do your thing.’
You had received a call from your brother, just as you were heading up to bed. Strange, you thought, your brother only called if he had some ridiculous news. You’d answered it, sitting on your stairs as he spoke.
“Did you meet anyone on holiday?” He questioned, your mind instantly flicking back to your memories with that man. The kiss on the boat, the horrible walk up the hill, the fighting over a polaroid.
“Why’s that your business?” You questioned, running up your stairs and grabbing the polaroid's from your bedside table and flicking through them.
“It’s my business when I’m scrolling through Instagram, only to find a Chelsea player has posted a picture of you and him.” He mentioned, voice raising in disbelief as he finished his sentence. You furrowed your brows, Chelsea player?
“Chelsea player? Chelsea, as in the football team you follow?” You wondered, opening Instagram to find this man’s account. You’d forgotten his name, curse your horrible memory. “What’s his name again?”
“Mason Mount,” he recalled, and you were kicking yourself for not remembering his silly James Bond introduction. Finding his account, you’d seen his recent post. It was your polaroid. The one you’d given him the last time you’d seen each other, he was looking for you. Your heart was beating rapidly in your chest, scrolling the comments and seeing everyone compliment you. How did you manage to run into this man and not remember his face? Or his name? The amount of times your family had mentioned how A1 he was on the pitch, how happy they were when Chelsea had won the Champions League.
“That’s not me,” you lied to your brother, knowing there was no way of escaping this now, everyone you knew would be able to tell it was you.
“Don’t bullshit me, Y/N,” he laughed on the other end of the phone, as you were frantically shoving the polaroid's back into your drawer, “I don’t know anyone else who uses a polaroid camera.”
“Should I text him?”
“You’d be an idiot not to.”
After ending the call with your brother, you sat in Mason Mount’s inbox for over an hour, unable to send him a message. Was there a right thing to say? Was ‘hi’ not enough for the man you’d left a mark on? Throwing away all of your conflicting thoughts, you sighed and just sent the word, ‘hey’. It didn’t take long for him to get back to you, so over the moon that he’d found you.
Mason: I can’t believe it worked, I actually found you.
Turns out my brother follows you and saw the picture, small world?
Mason: Chelsea fan, huh?
Guess so.
Your conversation lasted until the early hours of the morning, you promising Mason a proper date when you were both free. He had training the next day, but how could he sleep when he now knew you. He now had your Instagram, so he could talk to you, instead of staring at the polaroid in his wallet a million times a day.

Taro tea title game request.
So, I know I've sent you two things recently and one for your 3k event already (congrats on that btw!) So feel free to ignore/skip this or the other but, I have a scenario, not really sure if you'd wanna write the beginning, ending or anything but feel free to be creative and go where your inspiration takes you.
So, I have to believe being Kiri's girlfriend means he brags/shows off anything he like/love/remotely enjoys about you with anyone and everyone who will listen to him. Not in a 'look at what I have you fucking losers' kind of way but rather in a 'i fucking love my girlfriend and love sharing how amazing she is' kind of way.
I feel like kiri being kiri also has no trouble sharing even things about your sex lives (unless you say you're not ok with that). Which leads me to the kinda kinky but also super hot (at least to me) mess.
So one day he's having a guys night or something so Sero, Bakugou and Denki are over. They get on the topic of sex and stuff and somehow squirting comes up and Kiri is just like "yea, y/n does that. It's super hot." Que the group, except bakugou, who already know about this and has probably seen it cause he and Kiri are just that close being like wow that's hot and amazing.
Now at this moment you happen to stroll through the room cause you're hiding out in the bedroom so they can have guy time but you needed a snack or something. And a lightbulb goes off in Kiri's head. He loves showing you off.
One thing leads to another, and there you are on his lap, with him giving a demonstration of you *talents* with three sets of eyes taking in every detail to permanently etch it into their memories.
(this is all under the presumption that you are a consenting participant and all on lookers are either single or have an understanding with their S/O)
Hope you don't mind me sending this and once again no biggie if it's not something you wanna write! Love you and your content and don't wanna demand anything! 🦊

in all honesty, you weren’t to sure how you ended up in this situation. one moment, you were headed downstairs to grab a quick drink during your study break; the next you were plastered against your boyfriend’s firm chest— his large hand between your thighs as he spreads you out for all his friends to see.
one a month, eijirou invited his old college buddies over for guys night— a lot of them lead busy lives now and your boyfriend never asked for much, it was the least you could do to open up your home to his friends. for the most part, they were all nice guys, bakugou you had known the longest and he was much like a brother to you whilst you’d met kaminari and sero at your boyfriend’s college reunion. you never really sat in on the guys nights, keeping to yourself in your shared bedroom. occasionally when you popped out you’d be able to hear their topics of conversation.
tonight, just so happened to be about squirting.“oh yeah, my pretty girl squirts for me all the time.” eijirou hums proudly, taking a sip from his beer with a smirk as two of three out his friends hoot wildly. bakugou might have seen one or two things in the past, but the others believed you were completely innocent in bed due to your naturally quiet aura and personality. “it’s pretty cute, actually.”
and thats how you end up in your current predicament. your body flares with heat as three sets of eyes watch your movements eagerly— from the drastic rise and fall of your chest to the rapid, slick movement between your shaky legs. “c’mon now angel, feel your thighs tryna close around my hand— keep em wide open for me... so we can put on a show for them baby...” you look up to kirishima with tear stricken eyes, his hand never stopping as his thumb swipes vigorously against your clit. pressing two fingers against your entrance, you whine and search for the comfort in his ruby eyes.
you know that kirishima would never do anything to put you at risk, your comfort was always his top priory in the a scene like this and his only rules were that you listened and behaved well for him. with laboured breathing, your hole spasms around the digits that stretch you wide open and spread your arousal across your puffy folds. “yes, daddy,” comes your vulnerable smile as you relax your thighs that straddle your boyfriend’s. pride flashes across his face and he relents in curling his fingers to press down on your spongy g-spot. a reward for his good girl.
“she calls you daddy?” sero asks, succeeding in capturing your attention. your gaze trails down the man, his lean figure practically hanging off of his seat to catch sight of your cunt. eijirou had made sure to show you off nicely, shredding your cotton shorts and forcing your panties to the side in order to put your glistening hole on display. he’d rip your panties off later if he needed more room. either of your legs are hooked around his own, so if he spread his legs with you in his lap— he could help your flower blossom.
eijirou nods to his friend, free hand sliding up your flimsy camisole to expose your breasts before he pinches at the pebbled nipple. “the key to getting her to squirt isn’t just the way you touch her, but the way you talk and handle her as well. she trusts that i’ll take care of her as her daddy, right baby?” the way the red head and is friends discuss you as if you’re not even there makes your heat spasm— the sight alone earning groans from all three men, noises that you admit you want to hear more of.
“mmhm,” is all you manage to whimper out.
kaminari speaks next, amber eyes locking with yours. “fuck that’s cute, your lil cunt gonna squirt from the way daddy talks to you?” the blonde chuckles, forcing you to watch as his own hand slides beneath his pants to relieve the hard on thats formed from watching you. it doesn’t take you long to realise that all three men have been fisting their cocks to you. you almost nod your head in agreement.
a growl of possession rumbles in kirishima’s chest, the vibrations going straight to your pussy and adding pressure to the unwinding knot of your orgasm. he delivers a harsh spank to your folds, euphoria clogging your brain and clouding your vision as you cry out for him. “look at me,” kirishima snarls into your ear, laughing lowly as you gyrate your hips into the heal of his palm to earn friction against your clit. you glance up; a dark look you’ve seen oh so many times before. “why don’t you squirt for them baby? and after that, daddy’s gonna make them practice what they’ve learned on you, how does that sound?”
your body shakes and you can see the peak of your release on the horizon. you’d be a fool to say no to that.

I just realised people might not know about the stream Pearl and Grian did together as part of their RTX 'Building a Mega Base' series. It's not available on Twitch anymore but I do have some highlights from when I watched it (bugging friends with quotes comes in handy sometimes!)
This took place around early March 2021 (March 1st, I believe!)
Grian was a lot more chilled out! You could actually hear his keyboard and mouse as he moved around.
They both dislike doing interiors (or did at the time)
Pearl: 'Griba is my nickname for Grian and that's what I will call him'
Grian: 'I'm not a huge fan of streaming in general. It's different. Different kind of energy's required.'
And later on 'All these twitch things are crazy to me, I don't understand them. Wha- hype trains and stuff, there's just a party going on and I don't understand. I'm too old to understand!'
And again 'This is why I don't stream. I can't focus on what I'm doing and then, like, keep up with everything'
Where's Maui? Grian: 'He's sulking in the other room because my office door is closed.' ... 'He moved the mouse in one of the timelapses because he walked around on the desk.'
Grian makes lots of thinking noises. Little hums and whistles.
Pearl: I've been working with Grian for... Four years now. So imagine building with a friend.
Grian: I've learnt a lot from you about the detailing that I forgot. You just remember things that I've not done in a while so I just forgot.
This was about chimneys, for the record.
Grian: I- I saw people asking why- why not use mushroom blocks in survival, I was losing my mind!
Grian: Don't you think that endstone is a waste of an opportunity? ... It could be a bop of a block.
This clip of Grian losing it over a wall being one block off
Grian's solution was to erase the final line.
Grian: 'It's still off.' Pearl: 'That's because we haven't finished it yet.' Grian: 'No... It's still off.' Pearl, continuing to place blocks: 'That's because we haven't finished it yet-'
Pearl: 'I saw a few comments on the video actually, saying the castle isn't that effective because you can just walk up the terrain and get over the wall' Grian: '... Sorry who can walk up a cliff?'
Grian got into explaining the rivalries between the English and the French.
Grian: 'It's a little bit difficult for me to figure out because I'm a dumb dumb.'
Grian: 'For me it's about tickling the creative bone, so doing something I've never done before ... So once I've done something, it's unlikely I'll do it again' ... 'And despite the meme about me building rustic houses, there's only one tutorial on my channel for rustic houses.'
Pearl: 'NPC Grian, we haven't heard about NPC Grian in a long time, actually?' Grian: 'He's gone.' Pearl: 'He's poofed' Grian: 'Haven't seen him in a long time' Pearl: 'He's like the Herobrine of your channel' Grian: 'Yeah. I made up a character called robot Grian, and he existed solely because I was ill and needed to use a synthesised voice to record a video.'
Pearl calling Grian 'Gri'
Pearl (Grian's cat) is named after her colour, whilst Maui is named partially because of Moana, because he's loud, and the breed. Yes, Grian asked Pearl for permission to use her name.
Grian's brain briefly forgetting how words work (also the 'Things I can pin on the fridge like Grian made this, age 27.')
Pearl: Do you ever get recognised in public, Grian? Grian: Well, I haven't been outside in like a year, so-
They got distracted by how glass blocks refract light with the RTX shaders
Grian wasn't around for a lot of the stream (he was doing stuff) but it was very fun seeing them interact in a casual setting. And I'm very excited to see them interact more throughout S8!

Huh. Just realised that both UK S/P alts have the pink alt costume. Think it’s coincidence or?
Hey! Not a coincidence, no!
When we originally figured out that they'd be using alternate costumes for 2nd and 3rd covers, I (and most of the fandom) also assumed that those would be assigned based on their 2nd covers (as they obviously wouldn't be assigned based on 1st like they typically had been since they wouldn't be wearing it for those). The 19-21 WE alts never debuted as their third covers and the UKT ones only did under specific circumstances; with these new queens we knew they would debut 2nd covers but it hasn't been super clear whether or not they'll have scheduled debuts for 3rd covers, in which case they might never go on for them. It seemed like assigning alt costumes off of 2nd covers made the most sense.
However, as we're seeing now from both the West End and UK Tour, they seem to have assigned them based off of the costumes that made the most sense for both the 2nd AND 3rd covers rather than just the main set they'll wear them for.
Here's a quick reminder on the alt costumes and what cover combos they're typically used for in the UK system: - Black alt was originally designed as a swing costume for Grace Mouat for the 2018 UK Tour. It was then re-designed for S/H for Grace for the 2019 West End run (that design was also given to Mallory Maedke for S/H during the 2019 Chicago/Tour run). It was then once again re-designed and has primarily been in use as a swing costume in the UK since. - Teal alt was originally designed as a B/C alternate costume for Vicki Manser. The color was meant to be more Boleyn specific than Cleves, so when the UKT had Jennifer Caldwell as B/H and no B/C alt, they gave it to her with a Howard skirt. - Orange alt was originally designed as an A/P alternate costume for Courtney Stapleton. She switched midway through her run to become first cover S/P. As the 19-21 UKT and WE casts both had S/P alts and did not have A/P, they started to use orange for that combo. - Pink alt was originally designed as an A/H alternate costume. While Shekinah McFarlane was A/C and the first to wear it, she and Zara MacIntosh (A/H) were cast at the same time and the costume was designed as one that Shaka could wear when on as Aragon (already having a principal Cleves) and Zara could wear in general. - Silver alt was designed as a swing costume for Esme Rothero, and has now just been started to be worn by Harriet Caplan-Dean. I'm mostly focusing on how alt costumes have been assigned in the UK since all the countries or productions have slightly different costume teams that are going to assign alt costumes slightly differently, but here are the other scenarios for how each color has been used: - The 2019 Chicago/NAT regional tour mostly prioritized the costumes that would look best on the actors with some design influence. Mallory used the same design as Grace's S/H, but added a skirt for B. Nicole used teal for C just like how teal was designed for B/C, but she didn't cover B and teal for A/P had not happened before that point. - Norwegian Creative Studios also used sets of 3 covers and a variation for each, which meant that their only constraint was just figuring out which colors they wanted on which alt/with which cover combo. Since that was the case and they had some different team members working on assigning colors, they're slightly different. Teal was always used for B/S/H or S/H/P, while black was always used for A/B/C or A/C/P. - The Australia production has three swings but they each get two queen-specific variations. Most of the time the variations don't match up with what covers that costume has historically been used for, but it's orange A/C, teal B/S, black H/P.
- Roxanne Couch and Natalie Pilkington are both S/P alts, and will wear their pink alt costumes for A/B/C/H. Roxanne's 2nd covers are B/H while Natalie's are A/C or B/C. Pink was originally designed for the A/H cover combo, but has also been worn for B/C and never for S/P, so it's the one that makes the most sense with the covers they'd wear it for. - Danielle Rose is a B/H alt, so she wears her orange costume for A/S/C/P. Orange was A/P but has also been used as an S/C costume, so it's a clear choice. I'm expecting Leesa Tulley to have orange for the same reason.* - Paisley Billings is an A/C alt, so she wears her teal costume for B/S/H/P. Teal is typically B/C or B/H, but is also the default for B/S/H or S/H/P alts on NCL productions. Once again, it makes sense with her covers. Also expecting Grace Melville to have teal.* All in all, having swings in black and silver, S/P alt in pink, A/C in teal, and B/H in orange just makes a lot of sense in terms of the covers they'll wear them for!
Hopefully that helps provide some explanation! *This could not be the case; they could decide to go based off of what is most flattering for those two depending on what their 2nd vs 3rd covers are, but I think this is most likely.

15th December
It’s not a big day, really. But, buried deep in the files saved to my cloud storage, there is one document that was created on the 15th December 2020. That document is titled: “HPHM Adaptation - plan.”
All my life, I’ve loved stories. Reading them, daydreaming about them, writing them. And all my life, I’ve struggled to finish them. Around 20 months ago, I (and the rest of the world for that matter) suddenly ended up with a lot more free time, and my forever-overthinking self needed to fill that time. So I got very into cleaning the house, learnt more about Tudor history than I will ever need to know, figured out how to play Taylor Swift tunes on the ukulele, started an online creative writing course, and opened up a mobile game I had played for about two months when it first came out, then got bored.
I was getting back into writing, but wanted to write something other than short scenes, and I was struggling to piece together a plot, and that was when I read an article about aspiring writers developing their skills through fanfiction. I looked at that mobile game and its plot that was intriguing but never seemed to live up to expectations, and decided that this was what I’d do. I’d adapt the plot and write until I felt comfortable in my style and skills, and then I’d move on. So that’s what I set out to do.
But then, along came Artemis Hexley, and she had other ideas.
On the 15th December, I mapped out the four years that I had played in-game, listed the side-quests and started linking them to plot points where they might fit, either without taking away from the plot, or even adding to it. On the 16th December, I planned out the first “book” in the series. A week or two later, I’d finished it. It wasn’t good, but I’d finished it. Two weeks after that, I’d done the same with the second. By the start of March, I’d written first drafts of the first four “books” of what I’d started to call “the saga”.
I had also, in that time, become confident in my skills, my style, and my books. The first two were admittedly a bit crap, but by the middle of the third book, I was starting to actually enjoy reading my writing. Not only that, but Artemis had developed, too. She’d become a character that constantly seemed to niggle at my consciousness, and who I had grown rather fond of.
I read back over the fourth “book” and thought that I was proud of it, and of Artemis. I’d achieved what I wanted to, but neither I wasn’t ready to let go of Artemis or her story. Or, maybe she wasn’t ready to let go of me. So, instead, I decided to not only carry the Saga on, but to share it as well.
By the 31st March 2021, I had almost completely rewritten what is now ‘Artemis Hexley and the Mystery at Hogwarts’. I then did the scariest thing I’ve ever done, and published the entire thing on AO3, set up a tumblr account, and shared a link to it on my blog. It was a shout into the abyss, but - amazingly - people heard. And people read. And I wrote. And wrote. And wrote.
Now, I have over 200,000 words of the Saga published on three platforms with more saved in the documents, a 63-chapter-long collaborative AU novel, a novella about Charlie Weasley, and several short stories, novellas and novels either written or planned. And that’s just about Artemis. I have other characters, too, now.
But, when all is said and done, this isn’t about them. Not today. Today is for Artemis, the one who started it all, who made me realise that I could actually write, and keep on writing, simply by being the tenacious little gremlin-child she is.
Of course, she’s not the only one who has kept me going. I didn’t think in a million years when I posted on this tiny little blog in a small corner of the internet that in just a few months’ time, I’d have met and been encouraged by so many amazing people.
So, to @gaygryffindorgal, the first person ever to follow my blog and comment on my writing, to @hogwartsmysteryho whose fangirling has literally stopped me from giving up on so many bad days, to @ag907 @hphmmatthewluther @amerrymystery @madelineorionswan @toads-in-my-pockets @official-weasley @ridersinpandoria @theguythatdraws @imma-too-many-fandoms and @thatravenpuffwitch who have all taken Artemis into their hearts and followed her story both loudly and quietly, to @kathrynalicemc who invited me to write for her story, to @slytherindisaster @anthamariemayfair and @that-scouse-wizard who became invested in the Rockstar AU, to my newest pal @charlieweasleysimp, and to the Wine Club @kc-and-co @whatwouldvalerydo @samshogwarts and especially my bestie @lifeofkaze (last but anything but least - what would I do without you?!) who act as terrible influences, are true friends, and who keep me semi-sane on a daily basis… Thank you. All of you.
With all the love in the world,
Al and Artemis

HOW TO SURVIVE UNIVERSITY AS A FIRST-YEAR STUDENT
So! I am currently in my first-year at University but I’ve been studying for a couple of months now and feel as though I have enough information and experience to make this post!
MANAGE YOUR TIME
Whether it’s a timetable, to-do list, writing in your planner - you need some sort of method to manage your time and note what tasks you need to do and when. Set a specific time for each class and plan your own class schedule. Even better, study for your classes at the same time they should be held. This will create a sense of routine and make things so much easier. Find what works for you! Your perfect system won’t work great for your friends! There’s no shame in not being able to keep up with the schedule you’ve made. If you’ve tried or if it hurts you mentally or physically, then that schedule is just not the one for you. Finding a system that works for you takes time, patience, and courage. but it will be absolutely worth it. Find yourself a routine that works best for you! I know that my method doesn’t work well for my peers: I make a to-do list for the week and note down the tasks I want to do for each day and do a little bit everyday but I know some people would rather do everything in two days and have the rest of the week free! Below I’ve showed how I organise my week:
BE ACTIVELY ENGAGED
In your lectures and seminars, engage!!! Ask questions, answer questions, take part in the discussions!! It’ll help you retain the content much easier and you’ll enjoy learning so much more compared to just sitting there mindlessly listening. Take notes, even if you can record your lessons and/or access the lessons later. This will force you into focusing and minimise the chance of you getting distracted and zoning out. If you have any face-to-face lecture/seminars then it’s a good idea to sit in the first few rows, towards the front - again, this minimises the chance of you zoning out and increases the chance of you engaging.
ACCOMMODATE YOURSELF
Accommodate yourself, not just with comfort, but also with actual necessities that you cannot usually get in your usual classroom/library due to whatever reason. Whether it be stress balls, stim toys, motivational cards, calming music/candles. comfort items. chewing gum. As long as it helps you focus better, keep it with you. Other necessities may be water, a snack, sticky notes etc. Make sure to declutter your study space. put your phone out of reach & turn off notifications. If you have problems with this, I recommend using an app called Forest or putting your phone in another room.
FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU
I know that I will start a lecture around 9/10am. But all mine is asynchronous (narrated powerpoint or videos) and so I will sit for literally two hours just listening to the lecture trying to take notes but very quickly losing focus. I’ve now realised that I can make notes from the powerpoint slides, and then use the narrations/videos for when I want more detail or don’t understand something. This saved me a lot of time, cutting down my time spent on one lecture from around 70 minutes, to 35. This gives me more time to start other content, work on my assignments, and give myself the breaks I need to work efficiently.
WORK TOWARDS YOUR CAREER
Since more and more people go to universities each year, the job market is becoming increasingly competitive for academics. It is important that you obtain skills outside of your studies – for example through societies or volunteer work. Just find something that’s fun and doesn’t feel like another burden. You might also want to become a student representative or part of a student parliament if your university has one. Your university’s career service provides you with tips and resources for a good start into your work life. Things are competitive - find something to make you stand out. Examples of things I’ve done (not just at university) include: Senior Prefect, write and directed my own play for younger students to perform, TEFL course, taught at an Arabic school, volunteered as a youth worker, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Course Representative etc.
MAKE FRIENDS
Being at university can be lonely. You might have moved to a different place, you’re faced with new challenges, and you might find that adult life is not at all like you imagined. Having someone to talk to is important. Good thing that it’s never easier to make friends than at university. You are surrounded by people your age (and it’s actually a lot easier to not see people you don’t like than it is in school.)
Fresher’s week is full of opportunities to meet new people! Check out the societies at the fresher’s fair. In the UK, there are usually societies for every niche interest you can think of. You might end up not actually going, but sometimes you still keep a friend. Another idea is to make a group chat with people in your classes - introduce yourself to the people sitting next to you. Ask them if they would like to go to lunch together, check out the library etc.
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
University is not all about working 24/7 and pushing yourself. Listen to your mind and body. It’s normal and okay to feel lost or overwhelmed. Please take care of your mental and physical well-being during this very, very weird time. Keep yourself active. Re-ignite old interests/ hobbies. Give yourself some love. A tip I always give to people is to have some sort of creative/kinaesthetic hobby - whether it’s writing, art, embroidery, making collages, journalling etc. Having some sort of fun creative outlet is just what I need when I don’t want to do work but still want to be a little productive. Make sure you’re eating enough, and make sure you’re getting at least 8 hours of sleep. Take care of your body.
MISC TIPS
Make cheatsheets to revise from
See if your university offers free/discounted versions of resources like MS Word etc
Talk to your tutors. Get to know them so they know who you are.
Don’t be afraid to ask you tutors for help - that is what they are there for. They LOVE students that are self-advocates for their own learning.
Give yourself breaks.
Learn your methods. Learn how to use whatever resources / software your university uses. Learn what study styles work best for you.

Here Comes the Sun: XXI. When You Were Young (Daryl Dixon/Reader)
Series Masterlist: Here Comes the Sun
Summary: Daryl Dixon scares the hell out of you climbing out of that damn creek. It takes hauling his ass halfway across Georgia and taking a bullet for him to realise that you're not half bad. He slowly starts to come around, despite grumbling about how much he doesn't like your singing, or that you can't use a gun for shit - and don't get him started on that ugly yellow tent of yours. It takes him a while before he starts to see for himself that he's found a best friend for life, and that he doesn't actually mind the colour yellow that much, after all.
Words: 5907
Chapter Warnings: Language, Insecurities.
Tumblr media
You snapped the book shut and looked up at your class, who stared back at you in complete awe. You laughed, taking in their expressions. The first time you had read this novel, your face looked something similar to how theirs did now. You couldn't help but let out a little laugh, uncrossing your legs and standing up from your seat. Immediately, they started to chatter amongst themselves about the ending, and the volume rose as their voices ricocheted off the walls of the small classroom.
In the last couple of months that had passed since the takeover of Woodberry, the prison had been completely transformed. It was barely recognisable from how you'd first found it. The cells each had a bed, and now resembled actual rooms. The field had been tilled and converted into farmland courtesy of the Greenes, and you even kept livestock in wooden pens. Best of all, Rick and the others had set up a classroom for you to teach the children. You could remember it like it was yesterday. It had certainly been a well-kept secret, and almost everybody had known about it but you.
Daryl and his team had scavenged some desks and school supplies, as well as an old blackboard that reminded you of the one you had first written your name on. They'd even brought back a wooden bookshelf - which they had to tie to the roof of one of the vehicles just to get it home. Over the course of the next few weeks, it began to collect books, filling up more and more each day.
Your first assignment had been for your students to create a poster on any book of their choice - and as a result, they also filled the white space of the walls. Before long, the former guards’ office resembled an actual classroom, brimming with colour and, surprisingly, children eager to learn.
"Okay, everyone!" You called out, clapping your hands to get their attention. "Now that we've finished this book, I want you all to write your own short story in response to it."
The group started to murmer amongst themselves again, and you yelled out over the chatter.
"It can be a sequel, or even something different inspired by it." You explained, your voice getting lost in the crowd. "Be as creative as you can."
It was a real learning curve getting used to teaching younger students. Though, it was a lot more rewarding than you thought it would be. You remembered teaching Carl briefly at the Greene farm, which felt like a lifetime ago now. You never expected for your class to grow to the size that it was.
"I'm looking forward to reading them all tonight before bed." You added, once they had settled down enough to do so.
It was a tradition for you to do all of your marking in the evening. It filled up your time and kept you occupied until Daryl returned. He'd been going on a lot more runs recently, and it made you worry less when you had something to take your mind off it.
"Any questions?" You asked, and saw a flurry of hands go up in response.
"Teacher!" A young girl called, waving her arm to get your attention.
You smiled almost unknowingly. If adults had even half the enthusiasm of children, then maybe a lot more would get done around here.
"Yes?" You answered, and nodded in her direction.
The legs of her chair lifted a few inches off the ground as she swung back a little, and you fought every teacher-urge inside of you that said to pull her up on it.
"Is Mr. Dixon going to read them with you?" She giggled, and suddenly you forgot about the chair.
You couldn't contain the snort that left your mouth from the name 'Mr. Dixon.' You'd have to tell him about it later.
"I meant questions about the work." You chided gently, but the smile on your face told another story. "Though, he might. So make them interesting."
Once again, you were unable to control the class as they got rowdy, and you just shook your head.
"You don't want him to fall asleep when I read them to him, do you?" You added, as you started to hand out the paper.
The children spent the next hour or so furiously scribbling out their stories in messy handwriting that you'd be tasked with deciphering later. Daryl had been gone for a few days on a run, but he was due back at some point today. Though, you wouldn't put it past him to conveniently arrive home late, to get out of marking duty with you.
When the time came to dismiss your class, you were given a lot of hugs and waves from everybody as they left. Perhaps it wasn't the most professional, but nothing really was these days. You were lucky to even still have a profession given the circumstances. Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed a figure looming in the entranceway, holding the door open for the children as they left the classroom. It was Carol, and she gave you a warm smile when she caught your eye. You beckoned her in after everyone else was gone, and she made her way shyly towards you with her arms behind her back.
The two of you had grown even closer over the last few months - all of you had. Though, you and Carol got along like a house on fire. She had the most brilliant sense of humor tucked away, and you were often lucky enough to get a glimpse of it when she felt mischievous. Daryl had given the pair of you the nickname 'dynamic duo' - and you thought that nothing could suit you both better.
"What are you doing here, Peletier?" You asked in a mock stern tone. "I don't remember giving you detention."
The woman smiled sheepishly at your teasing, before more confidently sitting down on your desk and stretching out her legs. From behind her back she brought out one hand, and placed a fresh, red apple over your paperwork. You laughed immediately, and so did she.
"I've always been a good student." She told you, with a grin.
You hummed to yourself, unconvinced. You started to collect the loose sheets of paper from your students' tables, and the woman hopped off your own desk to help you.
"I caught the end of your lesson. I hope you didn't mind me listening in." She admitted, and you shook your head in response.
Normally, you got nervous if you were being observed. One time, Daryl dropped by to give you some supplies you'd asked for - and you'd gotten so red that the children made fun of you for the rest of the day. Yet, Carol's presence made you calm; she always was the one to have your back.
"They seem to really love you." The woman added, nonchalantly.
The compliment really did warm your heart. Even before the world ended, all you'd wanted was to gain the approval of your students. Except, that was the one thing that adults struggled to give.
"I just want to make it fun for them." You explained, picking up another hand-written story.
You could tell whose it was just by the handwriting. At this point, you'd gotten to know all of the children so well that they felt like part of your extended family; everyone in the prison did.
"I know they should be learning practical skills, too." You went on. "But I can't let them forget how to read and write."
You were mumbling to yourself, and barely noticed as Carol handed you the other half of the papers. You filed them all into a neat stack, and placed them onto your desk. Except, you now noticed a book sitting on it that hadn't been there before.
"I came to give you something." Carol said, pointing. "Well, to return something."
Your eyes widened as you read over the title. It was in pristine condition, with a shiny cover and an unbroken spine.
"It's not the same copy." The woman explained.
You could tell; it was much too neat to be the one you'd brought with you to Atlanta. That one had crinkled pages and a ripped cover even before you had leant it to Carol.
"I asked Daryl to keep an eye out for one on his travels." She admitted, and you perked up at the name. "Thought maybe you could read it to the kids one day."
You held the copy of The Little Prince in your hands, your eyes glancing over the delicate illustration of a young boy lost amongst the stars.
"Carol, you didn't have to do this-" you said quietly.
The woman cut you off before you could go on, nudging you gently with her shoulder.
"I did. I wanted to." She corrected, and you finally looked up to meet her eyes. "I'm sorry for what I did before."
She said the words quietly, as though ashamed, and this time you were the one to elbow her back and shake your head. She gave a small smile.
"I liked the part with the fox." She told you. "Where he says that important things can only be seen with the heart, not the eyes."
You looked at Carol with a dumbfounded expression.
"I did read it, you know." She laughed.
So, the two of you did finally get to discuss the book together, just like you'd hoped to do all that time ago - back in the warm summer shade of the Greene farm.
When you spotted that mop of hair from across the courtyard, you knew instantly who it was. Well, the crossbow and that familiar leather jacket also gave him away. You started to run in his direction, before you spotted a group of your students and slowed down to an embarrassed jog. The man eyed you, and you could make out his taunting smirk even in the distance.
It hadn't been that long since you'd last seen him, but your heart still ached to feel his arms around you. You never knew how lonely the nights could seem once you got used to sleeping besides someone you loved.
You approached Daryl casually, feeling eyes on you. There were people working the fields, and others on the fences dispatching walkers. Even if they seemed busy, you weren't oblivious to their side-eye glances every now and then.
"Hey there, Stranger." You finally greeted the man. "Was starting to forget what your face looked like."
With the influx of survivors, Daryl had taken on even more responsibility than before. He was out for longer and home even less, but you knew it couldn't be any other way. You knew that - but it didn't stop you from resenting the fact.
"Too many damn mouths to feed." Daryl grumbled, pointing to the string of squirrels hanging from his belt. "These people are eatin' like kings."
You laughed at that, thinking back to the last harsh winter where you'd all had to survive on some questionable meals, to say the least.
"Ah yes, the luxury of fresh squirrel." You teased, eyeing the dead animals strung up by their tails.
You made a face, and Daryl made one back.
"I'll give yers away if ya gonna keep bein' picky 'bout it." He warned, but it was much too light-hearted.
Still, you held your hands up in defence.
"Okay, okay." You replied, sending him a mischievous smirk. "I'm sorry."
The tension was thick between you, despite the banter. Even as dirty as he was, you wanted nothing more than to fall into the man and press a number of kisses to that face of his. Yet, you refrained. Maybe you could get him into the shower first, away from all these people as well.
"Just take a look at your hair, Dixon." You remarked, once you finally noticed it. "Are you growing it out for me? Because I said I had a thing for guys with long hair?"
It hung over his face, and he pushed the loose strands away from his eyes with the back of his hand. It suited him, but he was definitely in need of a good shampoo.
"Yer really pushin' yer luck today, aren't ya?" Daryl muttered, taking a step closer to you.
You couldn't hide the smile that had spread over your face. Even an exchange as simple as this left you beaming. There really was no one else who could make you laugh quite like Daryl Dixon.
"You've been gone for two days." You reasoned lightly, trying to hide the way it actually made you feel. "Am I not allowed to have missed you?"
He tended to tease you about it, so you tried not to make a big deal whenever he returned home. Yet, you failed every time.
"What d'ya say?" Daryl asked, rubbing his ear.
He'd probably gotten mud stuck in there. It wouldn't surprise you - given how filthy he looked.
"I missed you." You repeated, begrudgingly.
Daryl narrowed his eyes, like he couldn't comprehend what you were saying in the slightest.
"Hmm?" He prompted, waiting for you to explain again.
You huffed and shook your head. You would be dragging him into the showers as soon as he got to the cell block.
"I miss-" you started, before the realisation kicked in.
You immediately slapped the man's chest with the back of your hand, and a smirk spread over his face.
"You're messing with me!" You yelled, and he shrugged his shoulders innocently - like he was completely oblivious.
You attempted to shove him again, but this time he caught your wrist and pulled you in close. Your chest hit his, and you felt the warmth you had been craving. You didn't care anymore about the curious stares, and it seemed that he didn't either. Daryl wrapped his arms around your waist, and you snaked your own over his neck to pull him down to you.
Your noses touched, and you smiled against him. The two of you stayed like that for a few seconds, just taking in the sight of each other - and the feel. You could tell that you'd unintentionally gathered a bit of an audience. The new members of the community rarely got to see Daryl like this, so you often got quite a few looks whenever you were together - and a lot of follow-up questions when you were alone. You ran your fingers through the ends of his hair, that went all the way down to the base of his neck now.
"Well, if you're not going to let me cut it, the least you can do is let me braid it." You whispered, your face still close to his.
You'd threatened it once before, but you were more adamant this time.
"Ya can fuck off." Daryl grumbled back, but somehow he managed to make it sound affectionate.
You laughed lightly, and finally gave him the shortest of kisses that only left him wanting more.
"I think the words you're looking for are 'I missed you, too'."
Daryl Dixon was a stubborn man. You'd realised it from the moment you met him. He was the type to stick to his guns, even if they weren't loaded. You'd seen him argue his way out of something even when he was wrong, and convince you of his viewpoint even when you were right. Daryl Dixon was stubborn - but he always cracked eventually when it came to you.
"Don' say nothin'." He snapped, and you bit your lip to hold back the laugh.
"I didn't say anything." You quipped, as naturally as you were able.
You plucked another daisy from out of the grass, and handed it to the child. She took it in her small fist, and threaded it through the man's hair - messily between the braids you'd given him.
"Yer face says it all." He grumbled, his own looking like thunder.
Daryl was sitting cross-legged on the ground, surrounded by a few of your younger students. They'd begged him to let them put flowers in his hair after eavesdropping on your earlier conversation, and you'd said yes before he could even reply. He was a stubborn man, but he was also a people pleaser.
"Mr. Dixon, what's your favourite flower?" Another girl asked politely, twiddling a bluebell stem between her fingers. "We'll see if we can find it."
You laughed, but quickly disguised it as a cough.
"Yes, Mr. Dixon." You chimed in. "What is it?"
If looks could kill, you'd be dead ten times over. Except, the man didn't look all that intimidating with stray daisies interwoven in his hair, and loose plaits that were in the midst of being braided by clumsy hands.
"Stop bein' a lil' shit." Daryl bit back.
Though, he immediately got punished for it.
"Teacher, he said a bad word!" One of the children exclaimed, pointing to Daryl like he was a shamed dog on the naughty step.
You took a deep breath, trying to keep your composure, and watched as the man did the same.
"Daryl Dixon, if you swear like that again we'll have to wash your mouth out with soap." You scolded, in your most teacher-like voice.
The children laughed their high-pitched laughs, and you could see a small fire burning behind the man's eyes.
"'M gonna murder ya in yer sleep." He mumbled below his breath.
You yanked on the strand of hair you were braiding, before half-heartedly apologising and claiming it to be an accident. Daryl flinched, and whipped his head around to glare at you.
"What the f-" he started, but you narrowed your eyes at him. "Frog." He finished, and you lost it.
You let out what was perhaps the most unattractive snort of your life, which was much too bold to be disguised as any sort of cough. You knew you'd pay hell for this later, but for now you just wanted to relish in the power. You had Daryl in the palm of your hand, his hair quite literally wrapped around your little finger. He turned to glance at you, but you tugged again - but more gently this time.
"Jus' watch what yer doin'." He reminded you, before muttering some more underneath his breath. "Are ya tryin' to scalp me?"
Somewhere in the midst of the exchange, Deputy Grimes has sauntered over with an expression equally as smug as the one you wore. He had Judith in his arms, resting over his hip, and looked down at Daryl with a grin as he approached. He was wordless, but when the two of you made eye contact it was hard to remain that way.
"Jus' don't." Daryl sighed, sounding completely defeated.
"I didn't say anything." The officer replied, and at this point you couldn't deny that there were tears in your eyes.
Daryl looked up at Rick and squinted from the sun. He shook his head.
"Yeah, yeah. Tha's what they all say."
Rick watched the exchange in amusement. It had been refreshing to see him so relaxed during the last few months. You thought that he really deserved a break - and it seemed that he was making the most of it by spending time with his children.
"What did you do this time?" The man asked Daryl.
He shrugged in response, before one of your students reminded him to keep still.
"Nothin'." He grunted, seeming to be at the end of his rope. "Dunno why 'm bein' tortured for feedin' the lot of ya."
The string of squirrels had been passed along to the cook before the children had all but seized Daryl and demanded that he played with them. You may have had some involvement in his kidnapping, but you were only a bystander, really.
"Quit complaining, you big baby." You reminded him, before tucking a flower behind his ear.
Daryl had a vacant stare, but it soon became a warm one when he noticed Judith making some gurgles and smiling in his direction. She had her arm outstretched towards him, and Rick lowered her down so that she could be closer to what she was reaching for. The baby smiled a gummy smile, and ever so gently patted Daryl's head - eyes wide at the array of colourful flowers there. The man stayed completely still and allowed her to do it, and you just watched. You wished you had Glenn's camera during moments like these.
Not long after, the officer said his goodbyes, and left with his daughter. She peeked over his shoulder at the two of you as they walked away, and it made your heart melt as you looked at her.
"She's so adorable." You said, to no one in particular. "I want one."
Daryl choked, and you smirked at him deviously.
"Just kidding." You admitted, as though you hadn't almost caused the man to have a heart attack.
Daryl spluttered again before standing up. Most of your students had left the two of you alone, having gotten bored during your chat with Rick. You watched as the man shook out his hair, letting the flower petals float to the ground like leaves from a tree.
"Jesus Christ, woman." He muttered, looking in your direction. "Calm down, would ya?"
You smiled as you helped him untangle the braids.
"There's only so much a man can take in one day." He went on.
Before long, Daryl’s hair went back to looking just as messy as it had done before, and you once again prompted him that he needed a shower. So, the two of you headed back to the cell block, and you slipped your hand into his to also remind him of how much you'd missed him.
"You never did say which flower was your favourite." You said, once the thought came into your mind.
You glanced over at the man as you walked, but he just gave a small shrug in response.
"Dunno." He said quietly. "Guess I like the yellow ones."
Despite wanting to spend the night alone with Daryl, cuddled up under blankets in your cell as you read him some imaginative hand-written stories, the two of you had been convinced otherwise. Usually, alcohol wasn't permitted inside the prison - something about productivity and sharing that you hadn't really paid much attention to. But, since a lot of people had just returned from a long run, an exception had been made so that you could celebrate.
It was hardly anything, really. There was barely enough to go around to get you tipsy, let alone drunk, and there were only a dozen of you sitting around the campfire - taking swigs from your plastic cups. The spirits had been diluted to stretch it out a bit more, and you were reminded of being a teenager again, swapping out vodka for tap water so that your parents wouldn't notice.
Even so, your body hadn't had alcohol in a while - not since the Jack Daniels you'd all polished off back at Hershel's farm. Already, your head felt fuzzy, and your laughs sounded giddier than you'd intended. You were all sitting on the ground, out in the field. It almost felt like that first night you'd cleared the prison - except so much had changed since then. Rather than tentatively holding Daryl's hand in the dark, when everyone else was asleep, you were now sat in between his legs as his arms held your waist. His chest was warm against your back, and you could feel it rise and fall regularly.
You could also smell the alcohol on his breath, but you didn't really mind. It was rare that Daryl did drink - even when it was available to him. You liked the fact that he could relax for once, since he always seemed to bear the burden of looking after everyone else.
"You two!" Tyreese shouted, catching your attention.
Across from you, the man sat beside his sister, Sasha. Vanessa was also next to them. Out of everyone here, you knew the three of them best. Admittedly, you hadn't got around to learning everyone else's names yet.
You looked up, startled, and Daryl chuckled softly at the way you flinched in his arms.
"How'd you meet?" The man asked, and offered a smile in your direction.
If there ever were such a packed question, it would have been that one. It was the type of question that required a whole book to answer - like one of the stories you'd set for your students to write. You glanced back at Daryl, only to find that he was already looking at you. He remained silent, so you raised an eyebrow at him before realising that you'd be the one answering.
"It was really romantic, actually." You spoke after a few seconds.
Everyone else's chatter had died down, and you suddenly felt very exposed as you became the centre of attention. Except, liquid courage always did work wonders where you were concerned.
"The first time I met Daryl, he told me to fuck off and called me a mule." You announced, like you'd been waiting for the perfect moment to do so.
Your audience erupted with laughter, and you took in the looks of disbelief around the campfire - feeling satisfied with your choice of words. Except, it didn't last long. Daryl jabbed you in the ribs with his elbow, and you shot a glare back at him.
"Tha's not what happened." He argued, and everyone fell quiet once again to listen to what the man had to say.
It was rare that they got to see Daryl like this - letting loose and talking without being prompted to do so.
"Jus' fought off two walkers only to have some chick yelling at me, sayin gimme yer hand like the ghost of Christmas past or some shit." He explained, his voice more animated than you'd ever heard it. "Thought my time had come."
A few more chuckles could be heard in response, but Tyreese eventually spoke up.
"Can someone translate for them?" He asked, and it was then that you realised just how much detail you'd need to tell this story of yours.
So much had happened between you and Daryl that you'd need countless sheets of paper to recount it, unlimited words and a number of chapters. You leant back further into the man, deciding how to officially introduce it.
"Well, it all started with this yellow tent." You said, and the others listened.
You went on for a bit, taking sips of alcohol between your words. Everyone seemed enraptured by you, and it even seemed like Daryl was hearing the story for the first time, too. It felt strange to recount it in such a way, and it made you realise just how much had happened since the world had ended.
You smiled as you finished, deciding to give one last summary to your captivated audience.
"So basically I pulled Daryl up from a cliff-face, then hauled his ass halfway across Georgia, before finally taking a bullet for him."
The alcohol had long since ran out, but everyone had stayed to hear the ending. Maybe you were oversharing, but spirits gave you loose lips - and you always did have a bad habit of running your mouth.
Tyreese started clapping slowly, before pointing at Daryl where he sat.
"You, brother, are one lucky man." He remarked with a smile.
You heard Daryl grumble something next to your ear, before addressing him back.
"She leaves out the part where she stuck 'er finger into my wound and sang outta tune next to me for three hours straight."
You bit your lip before finishing off what little was left of your drink.
"Minor details." You mumbled.
Some of the men you didn't know were murmuring amongst themselves beside you, but your head was too foggy to make out what they were saying. Perhaps Daryl could, since he had a scowl over his face. You didn't have time to question it, though, because Vanessa soon interjected with a laugh.
"So you're telling me that you now share a bed with the same guy who had walker ears around his neck when you first met him?" She teased, and you beamed back at her.
"Yeah-" you muttered, before sighing dramatically. "Sometimes I question my own judgement, too."
The walk back to your cell was more of a stumble, but no one had to know that. You and Daryl both made it there in one piece, so no further questions needed to be asked as to why you were missing a shoe, or who you'd tripped over along the way. It had seemed all fun and giggles, until you realised that it had been one-sided fun and entirely your own giggles.
Once you entered the room, you finally noticed how quiet Daryl had been. He toed his boots off wordlessly and threw his leather jacket into the corner. He knew how much that frustrated you, but he seemed too wrapped up in his own thoughts to care.
You walked up to the man and snaked your arms around him from behind, so that your chest was pressed to his back. All day, you'd been craving for the two of you to just be alone - but now that you were, he seemed too agitated for his own good. You thought that you must have missed something, because Daryl definitely didn't seem like himself.
You rubbed your palms along his chest slowly, but he stopped you with his own hand, and pulled away. He turned to face you, and you cocked your head to the side as you took in his expression. His eyes were narrowed, and he was chewing at his lip like he always did when he was confused. Eventually, he shook his head.
"Yer too good for me." He stated, like it was a fact. "'M a lucky man." He went on. "Why'd ya want someone who wore walker-"
"Whoa, slow down there." You cut him off.
He was reciting all of the things that had been said over the campfire, you realised - except they'd all been playful jokes, and he knew that. The man sounded like a broken record, but you couldn't quite put your finger on what had made him break.
"Someone's had too much to drink." You reasoned, but raised an eyebrow as you did so.
You weren't convinced yourself, but you had no other explanation as to why he was blurting out the things that he was. Daryl was a big man, and the amount of alcohol he'd drank was nowhere near enough to get him drunk.
"'M fine." He confirmed, but you knew there was more going on. "Jus' the truth, s'all."
The man looked down at his feet as he spoke the words, and you sighed.
"We are not doing this again, Daryl." You warned, and took a step closer to him.
Ever since more people had been coming to the prison, Daryl had seemed to convince himself that there were plenty of better options available to you - all without consulting you about it, of course. It had gotten to the point where you'd snapped at him, almost a month back, and it had escalated into a fight. You understood where he'd been coming from - a few people had gotten a little too friendly with you on more than one occasion. But, you'd convinced him that you were right where you wanted to be, next to his side.
You'd thought that had been the end of it, but something must have happened to bring it back to the surface.
"I see the way they all look at ya. Like they want ya." Daryl snarled, like he was seeing things that you couldn't. "They were talkin' 'bout it right in front of me."
And suddenly, it all made sense. The men you had noticed staring and mumbling had set Daryl off. You realised that he must have heard what they were saying - and that it must not have been good. Yet, part of you still felt frustrated that he had even listened to it. You'd spent the whole night recounting how you met the man, and how much he meant to you, only for your words to be completely unravelled by words of others that were insignificant.
"So?" You finally responded, more forcefully than you intended.
Daryl's head snapped up to look at you, and you met his eyes in return.
"I go through the same thing with you."
The man was silent for a few seconds, like he couldn't fully comprehend what you'd said.
"What?" He asked, and you shook your head.
"Just because you're blind to it, Dixon, doesn't mean that I am." You told him.
You placed your hands over his chest again, but this time he didn't shrug you off.
"They look up to you. You're a hero to a lot of these people." You explained, like you'd truly accepted the fact.
You could feel the heat radiating off the man from underneath the tips of your fingers, and you took another step closer to him so that he could feel you, too.
"You don't think there's days that I hear women giggling about you? Talking about you like you're some knight in shining armour who rescued them from this world?" You said, chuckling a little as you did so.
At first, it had killed you to see. Every time you noticed someone staring at the man, or whispering about him when they thought you couldn't hear, it made your blood boil. But, after a while you became numb to it - mostly because Daryl never even spared them a second glance.
"It makes me feel pretty shitty, too." You admitted, as you let your fingers rest over the first button of his sleeveless shirt.
You looked upwards at him, and he gave you a small nod - so you started to unbutton it.
"But then I come back to our cell, and I'll see that you've left me flowers on our pillow." You went on, smiling in the direction of your mattress, where you had missed the man’s presence over the last few days. "Or I'll notice a new cassette tape in my walkman without you even saying anything."
You reached the last button, and shrugged the material over Daryl’s shoulders so that you could see his bare chest.
"And then I forget about all those other people." You confessed, and pressed your palm over his heart. "Because I'm reminded everyday that you're mine."
Daryl immediately placed his hand over the back of yours, and squeezed it gently.
"I'm yours." He agreed, and this time leant down to give you a kiss of his own without being prompted.
It was soft, but you'd missed the feel of him - and it made you impatient. You could taste the alcohol on his lips, and so you broke away before you became too intoxicated by it.
You hooked your fingers around his belt loops and pulled his body closer to yours - so close that his bare chest was warm against you, and you could feel his heart pounding.
"Then show me." You said, and he did.

ROBIN #5 BUT IT’S JUST ME TALKING ABOUT JASON.
Hey, how are you guys doing? I wasn’t going to review this issue and I won’t because this isn’t really a review, this is just me talking about Jason’s involvement in this story.
I mentioned in a previous reblog (as well as in a old post) that I am not a fan of Joshua Williamson’s way of writing Jason. I think that he, like Lobdell, thinks of Jason in a way that doesn’t really match Jason’s origin (UtRH, Lost Days) or his current stories (RHatO, RHO, and other brief appearances), I think that Williamson is writing this sort of mesh between fanon Jason and a self-indulgent Jason that results in a very... bland and kinda repetitive version of Jason.
I have also talked about my dislike of his writing from a “romance” perspective. I absolutely didn’t like how he wrote the supposed “relationship” that Jason had with Rose in Future State: Red Hood. It honestly left a very nasty taste in my mouth after I read those issues and I just didn’t see their chemistry, to be honest, while I was reading those issues I felt like Williamson was writing an “unrequited love” thing between both of them (Jason being in love and Rose not at all).
That is of course my opinion. I know that many people like this relationship and I respect that but just as a heads up, I am not a fan of Jason being involved in any sort of romantic relationship with anyone. It’s just something that I would rather not see in a Red Hood story and that’s just the way I see it (once again, you are welcome to think otherwise).
Now, after I have said all that (which I believe is necessary because I like to tell you guys my general stances on Jason related stuff), I can begin my “review” of Jason’s appearances in this issue.
Let’s begin!
Rose calling Jason to tell him about Damian.
Tumblr media
Yeah, I find this weird. Since when are Jason and Rose talking? Here is where I am lost because I think that I am missing some information.
This Jason right here is supposed to be the Jason that was at the end of Urban Legends #6, right? The last time that I remember Jason interaction with Rose was back in RHatO vol.1 #40, I know that Rose had a “relationship” with Jason in DCeased and in Future State (Red Hood and Gotham) but here is the thing, DCeased is a story that doesn’t belong to this or any continuities so it doesn’t count and Future State is set in the future, and a future that might never happen at that. So, where is this “Jason and Rose being in contact” thing coming from? If anyone knows, please let me know.
Anyway, I just think that Rose contacting Dick would have made more sense but I guess I am missing some context here but hey, I am here to also learn.
The other thing I would like to talk about these panels is Jason not wanting Damian to be involved in a dangerous “death tournament”. Oh, well colour me not surprised at all by that fact, than you so much.
Who would have thought that Jason would have a problem with a child being involved in a dangerous situation (me, that’s who), I guess that this is confirmation of DC not reading their own material because in one book Jason’s helping a kid “kill” the Joker and here Jason is like “WHY DID YOU JOIN A DEATH TOURNAMENT DAMIAN!?” (did ya put your name in the goblet of fire?!?! said Dumbledore calmly). I guess this Omniverse thing that DC has going on is helpful when you want to blame inconsistencies on something other than poor management on DC’s part.
I just think that it’s funny. And also right on the line of OOC and in character for Jason, because I can actually see Jason being worried if a kid is joining that sort of thing, but I also don’t see Jason caring much about what Damian does or doesn’t.
“If I can come home, so can you”
Tumblr media
Good lord, I am not having a good time. I hate this. If this is your first time coming across one of my post, Hi! My name is Tati and I absolutely hate the fact that the fanon concept of “Batfamily” is being integrated in actual comics canon.
This is so bad, what the hell is Jason saying? This man knows nothing about Damian’s situation, why would Jason not think that Damian has his own reasons not to go back “home”???
And what the HELL is Jason calling “home”, is he calling Batman or the Batfamily “home”??? Child, are you on crack? Honest question, because Bruce has done nothing for you, he has done awful things to you and he really doesn’t like you.
Let’s be honest for a second, Bruce hates what Jason has become ever since he came back from the dead, Bruce hates the fact that Jason has a different way of seeing things. He only tolerates Jason when he can molde him the way that he wants.
I mean, what the hell is this, why would Jason, after the events of Batman and Robin (2011) #20, RHatO (2016) #25 and even Urban Legends #6, want to go back to Bruce or any of his bullshit? Why? How many times does DC have to prove itself that Jason and Bruce don’t work well together anymore? How long until they realise that Jason doesn’t fit in their Bat-narrative?
I am so tired of this, I swear, when will this end?
Jason and Damian have a chat.
Tumblr media
I don’t mean to be repetitive but, what the hell is this?
First of all, here we are again with writers wanting to encapsulate every Robin’s whole being in one word, don’t they get tired of being this basic? Dick is experienced, Tim is smart... how dull do you have to be? I this was your attempt at having Damian waste time then you could have had him say something more creative.
“You are the most emotional”, what does that mean? I mean, i guess it’s true but how is that relevant here, or why would that catch Jason off guard? Is it because fanon Jason is the epitome of “bad boy with a heart of gold” or...?
Also, Jason returning the hug after such a wild conversation has me wondering what the hell is going on, weren’t these two fighting the last time they saw each other? Why didn’t Jason realise that Damian hugging him is off?
Jason is a dumbass.
Tumblr media
Well, he isn’t, Jason Nation knows that but he has been written as if he were a dumbass. How did Jason not see that Damian had ulterior motives when he “hugged” him? Jason, my love, you guys fought the last time you saw each other and because the Omniverse is a thing, you also tried to kill Damian...
Why wouldn’t you think that Damian going for a hug was actually a trap? Are you being written as an unintelligent human being again to make another character look good when you are easily defeated? Is that it?
Yeah, that’s it.
I don’t know what else I can say about this panel, like come on, give Jason a little credit, we swear he is smart DC!
Don’t try to play games with Dick, Jason.
Tumblr media
Dick was having none of it! What was he thinking? Jason got his ass tasered and now he is like “Dick why would you let Damian play games with you?”. Why do people write Jason this way? Why is he the dumbass/comic relief nowadays? Is this why he was dragged back to the Bat? So he can be the dumb one with snarky remarks?
How boring.
-
Listen, I think that this issue was good when it came to Dick and Damian’s moments, they are the ones that have more history together, they respect and love each other enormously. Their interaction were really good, very enjoyable. My problem with this issue was obviously Jason’s presence and the part that they let him play. After reading this, I know that I was right when I thought that Jason shouldn’t have been put here. It doesn’t make sense and it does nothing for Jason’s characterization.
So yeah, those are my thoughts on this, as always, you are welcome to think differently!
