Remember how  in Sonic Forces (2017) there was what amounted to basically a random throwaway line about how Sonic was being TORTURED for MONTHS and then like, its NEVER acknowledged by the game ever again and Sonic doesn’t even seem slightly bothered by Literally Being Tortured For Six Months, and then it turned out that’s because that dialogue DOESN’T EVEN EXIST IN THE JAPANESE VERSION, so that’s the reason absolutely no characters have any long-term reaction to this absurdly grimdark information outside of the like, two sentences where its established, because it was just kind of completely made up in localization and just literally didn’t happen in other languages. Just a bizarre “Ghost Plot Point” that you’re I guess expected to think happened despite the fact that absolutely nobody in the game acts like it does because the game was not written with the idea that it happened in mind?  But only if you played the game in English

One way she connected most with Claudia was simply leaning fully into her identity as a Black woman. Bass is biracial; her dad is Black and her mom is Belarusian Russian. She grew up in Brooklyn, but in a deeply Russian community, speaking Russian. “I felt more accepted around people that were Belarusian, Eastern European than I did sometimes with Black people because I just didn't communicate with a lot of Black people; I spoke Russian.”
It was around age 16 that Bass began to connect more with her Black heritage, and landing the part of Claudia helped push that initiative into overdrive. She describes having the experience that a lot of biracial people do -- not really knowing where to fit in -- but when arriving in New Orleans in those first days of shooting, she felt more immersed in culture than ever. “With them having such a big Creole population, if you’re one percent Black there, you’re Black. And being mixed, not knowing where I belong…I had a driver be like, ‘Bailey, what do you mean? Why would someone tell you you're not Black?’” It was a moment that helped her reclaim power and solidify her identity. “I came onto the show knowing what I wanted to represent.”
Perhaps the most obvious way fans of the show get to see that is through Claudia’s hair. Initially, she says, the team on the show couldn't find any photos of Black girls in the 1910s and 1920s when Claudia is a girl, and it was, she says, “very difficult to even find my curl type.” But she pressed hair people and even producers to let her tell a story through Claudia’s hair––one that’s authentic to Black women and shows the ways she’s evolving as a person. “One time, I said ‘Sorry,’ because I wanted to have a deeper conversation about hair on screen. And Jacob goes, ‘Bailey never apologize.’ And even the person I was talking to at the time said, ‘No, we need to figure this out. This is really important.’ I thought that I was being an inconvenience when I was talking about something really important.” As such, she influenced choices; the way Claudia wraps her hair before bed, for example, instead of braiding it as you sometimes see in period pieces with white actors. “You know how long it would take me to braid my hair?!” she says. “So it's just trying to show that representation. And I think we did it very well.”

late thought abt undertale but listen, lots of people talked about intention to kill/violence itself making the hits powerful in great genius detail and then a lot of people made jokes abt 1 hp sans dying from Papyrus passing him the remote so what im saying is for monsters, as long as you dont intend to hurt someone you can use as much force as you like and they wont be harmed so you get hilarious scenarios like hyped up Undyne punching sans through a wall into the living room and Toriel and him have a “Hi Ron” “Hey Billy.” situation. Toriel drunk chucking pizzas at him so hard that one that misses him breaks clean out of the window hes just sitting there smiling fondly. 1 hp sans is safe because he is surrounded with people that love him
