Jancy Analysis: Jonathan & Nancy's Individual Conflicts
I've been talking about this over the course of a few different posts and asks, but I thought I would make one cohesive post about it in order to coherently organize all of my thoughts on this.
I'm not going to tag this as anti j*ncy because it's actually pro-jancy endgame, but I am going to be talking in depth about the issues in their relationship and a possible breakup, so I understand if any Jancy shippers might wanna skip this one.
As many may have seen, I've been making several posts somewhat stating that I think that Nancy and Jonathan will likely break up very early in the next season. HOWEVER, I want to clarify that I don't think that this necessarily has to affect their status as a couple at the end of the season. A couple can still be endgame even if they took time apart! I also don't think that this is indicative of how they actually feel about each other. Unlike m*leven, I think they love each other very much! I just think that they are likely going to break up as a natural progression of how their story beats have laid out.
In 4x01 we are introduced to Jonathan and Nancy's conflict for the season; they are having miscommunication issues and will not be seeing each other for spring break.
Here's the thing that makes this heartbreaking— both of them actually perfectly understand the others wants and needs. Nancy isn't going to pry Jonathan away from his family and Jonathan isn't going to take Nancy away from the work that she is passionate about. They love each other so much that they can't see each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What leads me to believe that they are breaking up is the fact that this miscommunication is never actually discussed. They have a moment where they say that "they're good," but this wasn't actually addressing the issue. Furthermore, they end with Jonathan still hasn't told Nancy about not applying to Emerson, and Nancy isn’t being honest about Steve (no, I don’t think St*ncy is gonna happen, but that plotline did happen so it there’s no use in ignoring it!). This leaves open a huge plot point that still needs to be resolved!
This lie is actually similar to the painting lie, at least in terms of how it's being used within the writing. Because this lie is not resolved by the end of season 4, it leads me to believe that once this lie does get brought up then it will not end with things staying the exact same way that it was, otherwise what was the point of setting it up in the first place? Not only would it feel unsatisfying, but it would feel like a total cop out.
I don't think that Jancy breaking up would be a bad thing for their arc as a whole, it would not only add more interest and drama but it would also give the characters space to resolve their individual conflicts.
The reasons for why they don't see each other over Spring Break actually reveal bigger conflicts for each character: Jonathan has been lying to Nancy about college because he can't leave his family, and Nancy can't take herself away from what she's working on in order to be with him.
I'll start with Jonathan since I've actually talked about this before and his problem is more identifiable. Ever since their dad left, Jonathan has felt responsible for taking care of his family, something that he shouldn't have to do. He sacrifices parts of himself in order to protect his family, including being with the people he loves and going to the school he wants to go to (which is NYU btw and NOT Emerson!).
Nancy actually has the opposite problem, she is so involved with her work that it often gets in between her and the people that she loves. After Nancy goes on her spiel to Fred about why she can't see Jonathan, she turns down Mike's D&D game! We are shown a clear example of her prioritizing work over family!
Tumblr media
Both of these conflicts is what leads to Jonathan and Nancy having their argument in season 3, an argument that doesn't really get resolved, they just decide to make up because there’s bigger fish to fry. Although, as I stated above, it does seemNow, their argument in this season is pretty complex. They're both right... and they’re both wrong. Nancy was right to get upset at her employers for their sexism, but she was also wrong for not considering Jonathan's position. Jonathan was wrong for not considering Nancy's feelings, but he was also right for getting angry at her for losing him the job. It's not a black and white situation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To clarify, I don't think that Nacy being a working woman is a bad thing, nor do I think that Jonathan deeply caring for his family is a bad thing! But I think the reason that both of these arcs are here is for the sake of showing balance. How to balance what you want for your future with the ones that you love.
Now, as I talked about earlier, it does seem like they do understand their personal wants and needs now in season four, but those reasons for the argument in the first place are still there. Neither Nancy nor Jonathan have resolved these issues, and failing to do so will only continue to cause problems in the future, no matter how much they both love each other. That isn’t the problem in their relationship unlike M*leven
Yes Nancy and Jonathan don't need to break up in order to resolve their individual conflicts, but I think separation would at least help create focus. And as stated above, I see their breakup as pretty inevitable anyways. After that though, I think the possibility for endgame is still there. For myself personally I'd be open to either endgame or not, and especially if they get their situation sorted out than I would love to see them together in the end.

The cool winter air brushed up against Y/N’s cheek as she rushed towards the direction of the Avengers tower, wrapping her arms around herself to get as warm as possible in the thin jacket she threw on before rushing out in the morning.
Stark’s coffee machine was broken, and the team had been complaining about sleepiness and being grumpy to the point where Y/N had volunteered herself  to go out and get coffee for everyone in the middle of one of New York City’s biggest blizzards of the year.
“Thanks, guys,” she mumbled to herself, lips quivering slightly as she mentally made a note to not be on coffee duty next time.
She held the bag in one hand, careful to not spill the contents inside, and put the other hand in her pocket, shielding it from the numbness that the temperature was causing.
The entrance to the Avengers tower came into view, and if possible, Y/N walked even faster, ignoring the weird glares people were giving her because of her intense pace. Making sure to keep the bag steady, she opened the front door and sighed in relief when the warm air came in contact with her face. She made her way towards the elevators, no longer rushing as the freezing feeling was already leaving her fingertips.
As she made her way up, she unzipped her coat, letting the warm air replace the cold air that was trapped under her coat.
“The coffee has arrived!” Clint’s voice notified Y/N she was on her floor, his body rushing towards her to grab the bag from her hand, “Why are your hands so cold?”
“Gee, I don’t fucking know, Clint,” Y/N sassed, walking into the room and pointing out of the large windows, patience wearing thin, “Have you looked outside?”
“Right, of course,” Clint chuckled awkwardly, helping to pass the coffee around to the sleepy Avengers, who all grumbled and mumbled their gratitude for the caffeinated drink.
“You’re welcome, guys!” Y/N threw her body down on the couch, not appreciating the lack of thanks from the team, “I nearly freeze my ass off out there for your grumpy asses and no one even says anything.”
The team quickly started thanking her, Steve even being kind enough to give Y/N his coffee in hopes to help warm her up. She was about to respond, but her eyes caught sight of Bucky walking into the room, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes as he made his way over to the couch. Y/N grinned, scooting over so he could plop his body down next to hers.
“Mornin, Buck,” Steve nodded to his friend who just waved silently, dropping his body down on the couch next to his girlfriend. Y/N grinned at Bucky, scooting closer to him as his arm draped around her.
“You’re freezing, Y/N,” Bucky looked over at her, feeling the coldness of her skin.
“Yeah,” Y/N grumbled, “Everyone wanted coffee and I was sick of their complaining so I went and got some.”
Bucky rolled his eyes, turning to the team, “Seriously? You guys made her go out alone and get coffee? In this weather?” He got up off the couch and walked over to the cupboard in the corner of the room and grabbed a knitted blanket, bringing it back to Y/N’s still slightly shivering body.
He wrapped it around her, “Here, let me warm you up.”
She cuddled into the blanket, letting Bucky’s warm arms wrap around her as she leaned into his touch, almost forgetting how cold she was. She was glad to have him looking out for her all the time, and she wouldn’t change it for the world.
“Stark, you better fix that damn coffee machine.”
-----------------
Saturday mornings in the compound often spent with breakfast, training, and then a briefing on what was going on in the world - credit goes to director Fury for that. This day was no different.
Tony made the team breakfast (cough cough, thanks to Friday who really did all the work) and the satisfied heroes made their way down to the training gym, where Thor was already launching himself at punching bags.
“Ah, seems that I am the most prepared - I was here the earliest,” Thor grinned as the team walked in, all still slightly sleepy, but ready for a good training session. They ignored him and split up into their usual teams, Y/N running off with Natasha to find a good corner and Bucky finding himself facing Steve, both ready to fight.
“You gonna go easy on me?” Natasha smirked, teasing Y/N who was tying her hair out of her face.
“Nuh uh, Romanoff,” she grinned, “Get prepared to have your ass handed to you. For once.”
The red-haired assassin grinned, arming herself by holding her fists in front of her face as Y/N charged towards her, determination written on her features. Natasha ducked the first punch, taking that as an opportunity to deliver a harsh blow to Y/N’s stomach, making her groan and lean over.
“Shit, Nat, I just ate,” Y/N lifted herself back up, glaring at Natasha who let out a small chuckle. Y/N used Nat’s distraction as her advantage, throwing herself onto her. She wrapped her legs around Natasha’s torso, causing her to slightly lose her balance as Y/N launched herself backwards, Natasha falling face first onto the floor.
“Ha, that’s what you get for - oomph,” Y/N began to celebrate her victory but was quickly cut off by Nat sticking out her leg, causing Y/N’s body to land on the mat with a thump.
Immediately, pain coursed through her body, “Shit. That hurt, Nat.” Y/N placed her hand over her ribs, leaning her head back as the throbbing pain started spreading throughout her chest. From the other side of the room, Bucky rushed over, panicking slightly at the pained expression on his girlfriend’s face.
“Are you okay, Y/N?” He asked, leaning down next to her as Nat stood up, apologizing quietly.
“Peachy,” Y/N groaned, lifting her shirt to reveal a dark bruise already forming on her ribs, “Nat! You fucking broke my rib.”
By now, the entire team had noticed the commotion, and Tony was already calling the medical lab to announce Y/N was going to be on her way. Y/N protested, saying she didn’t need medical attention, but the entire team argued with her until they were ready to knock her out and bring her there themselves.
“Here, let’s help her up,” Steve leaned down and wrapped an arm around her torso, causing her to groan. Bucky did the same, and the two of them managed to lift her up without causing her too much pain.
The walk to the medical lab was long and every time she moved her legs, Y/N would feel another jolt of pain make its way throughout her entire body. As she laid down on the bed in front of the medical staff, fear kicked in and she was ready to bolt out of the room, not liking the sight of the needles and pointy equipment in the room. She had always had a fear of doctors, hating everything to do with them, but this time she begrudgingly let herself relax into the chair. Running away would do her no good, she couldn’t get far with a broken rib anyways.
Bucky could sense her fear, and he made his way over and sat down next to her, linking his fingers into hers, “Hey, it’s okay.”
Y/N let out a sarcastic laugh, “Easy for you to say. You don’t have to have anyone prodding around in your body to fix your stupid bones.”
Bucky chuckled, “No one is poking or prodding around anywhere. Stark’s tech can fix you in an instant. They’re probably only going to give you one shot, that’s it. To help ease the pain. You’ll be alright.”
Y/N threw her head back on the pillow as the doctor approached her, holding up a needle. She gave the doctor a nod and squeezed Bucky’s hand, shutting her eyes to prevent seeing the needle going through her skin.
“You’re okay,” he soothed her as the doctor gave her a shot of morphine to take away the burning sensation in her chest, “I won’t leave your side.” Y/N relaxed instantly, letting the sensation of Bucky’s fingers locked with hers be the main thing she was going to focus on.
Within an hour, her rib was much better and Y/N felt like a drama queen. One thing was for sure though, Natasha was going to have to watch her ass next training session.
-----------------
The morning sunlight shone down on Bucky’s sleeping face, his stubble causing tiny little shadows to appear on his cheeks and chin. Y/N grinned up at him, taking in the sight of her gorgeous boyfriend in the golden light.
For two years, Bucky had been her lifeline, her ultimate source of comfort and happiness, and by God, she was the luckiest woman in the world to get to call him hers.
She couldn’t resist his good looks any longer, leaning up slightly to place a delicate kiss on his soft lips, pulling away immediately. She knew she had woken him up, and even if she wouldn’t admit it, it was partially her intention. Bucky’s eyes fluttered open slowly, looking over at Y/N with his piercing blue orbs. She grinned at him, leaning up and placing another small kiss on his lips, pulling away before he could get the chance to reciprocate.
“Mornin’ handsome,” she smiled at him, letting him wrap his arms around her and pull her into his chest.
“Mm, why’d you wake me?” He groaned into her hair, making her giggle.
“I did no such thing,” she pretended to defend herself, pulling away from him and looking back up into his eyes. He leaned his head down, placing his lips about half a centimetre away from hers before she placed her hand between them, stopping his movements.
“Brush your teeth first,” she teased, throwing herself away from his body and turning away from him on the bed. Bucky chuckled, wrapping his arms around her once again and pulling her flush to his chest, placing his lips on hers as she melted into the kiss.
After a good moment of passionate kissing, she pulled away from him and moved a strand of his hair out of the way, staring lovingly into his eyes.
“You’re beautiful,” he muttered, placing a light kiss against her forehead as her heart fluttered from his words. She hid her face in his chest, preventing him from seeing the blush that was forming on her cheeks.
“Shut up, Bucky,” she spoke, her voice muffled. He chuckled, the vibrations from his chest adding to her butterflies as she pulled away to look at the man in front of her. The man who had captured her heart, her soul, and her future, and he felt the same way. He leaned down, capturing her lips in another passionate kiss as he rolled on top of her. Guess breakfast was going to be missed this morning.
----------------
“You don’t understand, Bucky,” Y/N groaned, pulling at her hair in frustration at the man in front of her, “I wasn’t being stupid, I was doing this to help. Clint would have died.”
Bucky’s eyes wandered down to the bullet wound hole in her stomach, which was tightly bandaged with patches of blood getting darker by the minute. He was furious, she had self-sacrificially thrown herself in front of a bullet to save Clint while on a mission, and luckily survived with no major internal damage.
“You don’t get it, Y/N,” Bucky leaned against the wall, trying to formulate his words so he didn’t come off as selfish, “You put your life below others, you don’t value yourself. You need to realize you’re important, you can’t just risk your life willy-nilly like that.”
Willy-nilly? Y/N stopped to look at him, both touched and enraged by his words. Her mind swirled with how the hell she was going to react, but the stubborn side of her decided to keep fighting and stand up for herself.
“And who are you to tell me what I should value, huh?” She crossed her arms, her breathing rapid, “Bucky, this is my life. I get to decide what to do with it. Besides, I survived, didn’t I? So, no reason to make a big deal, come on.”
Bucky sighed, making his way over to their shared bed and took a seat on the edge, breathing heavily to keep his mind calm, “Okay, yes, you did survive. But you’re lucky you did. You need to realize that you’re important, baby, I hate when you just throw yourself into the line of fire without weighing the outcome first.”
Y/N sat next to him gingerly, letting his hand rest gently on her thigh, “Are you saying Clint should have died instead? I saved him.”
“And I’m glad he’s alive,” Bucky spoke slowly, “But you need to realize it upsets me when you do this. Think twice next time, I don’t know.”
“Think twice? Bucky, you’re kidding, right?” Y/N stood up once more, waving her arms, “I’m an Avenger. It’s my fucking job to save people, you get that right? Because if you don’t, we’ve made a mistake being together.” She let the words slip before she could think them over, and regretted them immediately. She didn’t want to break up with Bucky - it was the last thing she could ever want. But her stubborn personality made her keep pushing his buttons and spill something she didn’t mean. Bucky sat up off the bed, anger coursing through his body and walked up to her.
She knew how Bucky was when he was mad, and it was very rare she was on the bad end of the stick, but when she was, she hated it. Bucky had spent years trying to control his anger but nothing could have prepared him for fighting with the love of his life, so when he did, he lost it easily. Through no fault of his own.
“Bucky, I didn’t-”
“Fine. If you’re not counting my feelings into this, we’re done.” Bucky stormed out of the room, leaving Y/N staring at an empty bed. Her mind was running at a thousand miles an hour, trying to think of something to say, but all she could do was turn and face the now-closed door. She knew she made a mistake in what she said, but part of her was pissed at Bucky for just walking out without letting her explain why she said what she did.
She debated going after him, but her body led her to the bed, where she threw herself down and hid her face in the pillow. She let out a low groan, trying not to cry. She’d let Bucky calm down a bit before going to see him - he didn’t listen much when he was angry.
In their two year relationship, they had gotten into their fair share of arguments - they weren’t exactly a normal couple, you could say that. Bucky used to be unstable, unsure of himself, but when Y/N entered his life, it was like everything just lit up. She was his ray of light and he finally felt like all of his struggling was fading away.
Y/N had practically fallen in love with Bucky at first sight. She was able to read people easily, and as soon as her eyes landed on him, she made it her mission to bring him the happiness she knew he deserved. And the two made each other happier than either of them thought they deserved, this was certain. They were in utterly, irrevocably enchanted by each other, and everyone saw it.
Fifteen minutes after Bucky had stormed out, Y/N heard a small knock on her door. She rushed up, already prepared to throw herself into Bucky’s arms and kiss him all over.
“Sam?” She questioned in almost disappointment once she opened the door. Sam stood there, arms crossed and an annoyed look on his face.
“What happened? He’s been moping about my room for about ten minutes not saying anything and it’s driving me crazy. I’m ready to shove my shoe so far up his ass he’s tasting rubber for a year,” Sam pushed past Y/N and made his way into her and Bucky’s room, throwing himself down on the bed and crossing his arms, waiting for an explanation.
“Well,” Y/N sighed, closing the door and making her way over to the bed, sitting down next to him, “It all started when I was penetrated by a bullet.”
“You had to make it weird.”
“Shut up, Sam, and let me tell my story,” Y/N slapped Sam’s arm, continuing her story, “He got mad I jumped in front of the bullet.”
“Okay, so?” Sam raised an eyebrow.
“So, I’m allowed to risk my life to save my team, or anyone for that matter. It’s my job. Bucky’s upset that I’m not thinking it through enough,” Y/N continued to explain the situation to Sam, who although looked slightly confused as to why this became such a big deal, seemed to be understanding.
“I mean, I guess I understand where he’s coming from,” Sam looked around the room before looking back to Y/N, “The guy’s paranoid all the time about what happens to you. He’s always worried. You don’t seem to consider that, weirdly enough, but if thing were the other way around I know you’d flip your shit if Bucky got shot to save someone.”
Y/N processed his words. Stupidly enough, in the heat of their fight, she hadn’t totally considered how she’d feel if it was the other way around.
“But I’d understand, it’s his job,” she answered.
“He understands too, doesn’t mean he likes it.”
Y/N leaned back and sighed, realizing how stupid she was being, “You’re right. Shit, you’re right.”
“It’s been known to happen,” Sam smirked, standing up off the bed as Y/N did the same, ready to rush off and rush out half-assed apologies at Bucky.
“Alright, is he still in your room?” Y/N opened the door, walking out of it before Sam could do so. He nodded and Y/N rushed off down the hall, ignoring Sam’s sarcastic comments about abandoning him. She approached his door and knocked softly, a quiet ‘Go away, Samantha’ coming from the other side.
“It’s not Sam,” Y/N replied, sighing in relief at the sound of Bucky’s voice.
No answer came from the other side, but the door slowly creaked open and Bucky stood there, slightly crouched. Y/N pushed the door open more and forced herself into Bucky’s arms, enveloping him in a hug which clearly caught him off guard as he stumbled back slightly, using her weight to help hold him up.
“I’m so sorry, Bucky, I was being so stupid,” Y/N muttered into his hair, not letting him go. He slowly wrapped his arms around her, letting himself melt into the embrace
“I won’t deny that, but it’s okay,” Bucky chuckled, his head dropping slightly to rest against her forehead. He was glad she had lightened up about the situation.
“Can we not be broken up? I won’t be as dumb, I promise,” Y/N tried to bring a little bit of humour, pulling away from the hug and gazing up into Bucky’s eyes.
“We could never really be broken up,” Bucky grinned, placing a light kiss against her forehead, “You’re my one.”
Y/N sighed in relief once again, melting into his touch. It had only been twenty minutes, barely, and she had missed his warmth and his smile. Shows how clingy true love can make you.
“And you’re my one,” Y/N replied, placing her lips softly on his.
-------------------
Y/N was no stranger to sleepless nights. From Bucky’s nightmares to her own, she constantly had her mind wide awake and her eyes forcing themselves shut from exhaustion. They had tried everything possible to give him a good night’s sleep. Wanda had gone through his head, they made him all different kinds of teas, even tried giving him medication for insomnia, but nothing worked. Bucky was plagued with nightmares and sleep terrors that woke up nearly everyone on the floor on a really bad night.
Tonight was no different.
Bucky started shaking in his sleep, the small beads of sweat on his forehead were a clear sign of what he was going through. Y/N turned over calmly, ready to wake him up from another one of his horrific dreams.
She placed her hand on his chest, feeling his ragged breathing as he continued to toss and turn, his face contorting into an expression of distress and pain.
“Bucky, wake up,” Y/N whispered softly, leaning into him with her weight to prevent him from tossing about once again.
He didn’t stop, small groans in his throat letting her know that he was probably being tortured in his dream. She knew he dreamt of this often, that the pain Hydra put him through was probably going to haunt him for the rest of his life.
“Bucky, it’s okay,” Y/N said, a little louder this time as she pushed his shoulder down, causing him to jump awake, knocking her out of the way. He let out a long, shaky breath, shoving his face into his hands as he came to realize it was only a dream.
“Same dream?” Y/N whispered, placing a small, delicate kiss on his shoulder. He let out a deep sigh, taking his head out of his hands to look down at her.
“I’m so sick of it,” he mumbled, “I hate that they’re still happening.”
“I know, I hate that I can’t help you,” Y/N admitted, running her hands through his hair, which was slightly damp. She placed another light kiss on his shoulder as he started to lay back down, relief clear on his face. She laid down next to him, running her fingers soothingly up and down his arms. He shivered lightly under her touch, closing his eyes as he re-played the visions he just experienced in his mind.
“Was it the same thing as always?” Y/N muttered softly, looking up to face him.
“Yeah,” Bucky grumbled, opening his eyes once more to get rid of what he dreamt.
“I’m sorry,” Y/N lifted his hand, placing small kisses on his knuckles. She started running her other hand through his hair as his breathing started to slow down, returning to normal.
“Thank you - for helping me,” Bucky turned to plant a delicate kiss on her cheek.
“I don’t even do anything,” Y/N chuckled, joking slightly but there was sincerity behind her words. She was mad at herself, in a way, because she couldn’t help him. All she wanted in her life was to make sure Bucky was safe, happy, and relaxed. He had spent 70 years in the worst conditions possible and she wanted him to know that it was over, that it was another part of his life that he shouldn’t connect to himself.
“I’m so lucky to have you,” Bucky mumbled against her neck, leaving half-asleep kisses along her neck, making her giggle.
“No, I’m the lucky one,” YN grinned, Bucky’s hair falling all over her face as he continued placing kisses all over her face. It was little moments like this that helped their relationship blossom. They were so close, and the two of them wanted nothing more than to be with each other forever.
-------------------
Tonight, Tony was hosting an important gala - sarcasm intended - to celebrate his anniversary with Pepper Potts. It was cute that he went all out to celebrate their love, but these events were dreaded by the Avengers. Parties weren’t exactly their thing, and even though they loved Tony to bits, they all agreed that his extra-ness was slightly unnecessary/
Y/N, Wanda and Natasha helped each other get ready as if they were in some sort of cliché chick flick, but it worked. In an hour, they were all ready to go. Y/N found herself wearing one of Natasha’s floor-length green gowns, one of Bucky’s favorite colours, and tied her hair back, knowing how warm it was going to be in there and not wanting to deal with sticky, sweaty hair on the back of her neck.
She walked into the Avengers tower with her girls by her side, the three of them laughing about a conversation they had in their cab and made their way up to the floor where Tony was hosting his event. They walked into the room and immediately went their separate ways. Natasha and Wanda went off to find their guys as Y/N made her way to Bucky, who was deep in a conversation with Steve and Sam.
“Guess who,” Y/N joked, placing her hands over Bucky’s eyes, and she could feel his body shake with laughter as he turned to face her.
“Holy - you look gorgeous,” he looked her up and down, making her blush slightly as he pulled her to him, placing a quick kiss on her lips.
“You’re looking pretty dapper too, my love,” Y/N teased him before turning to Steve and Sam who looked out of place, “Hey, guys. Lookin’ sharp.”
“You look great, Y/N,” Steve grinned at her, Sam agreeing with his comment.
“Well, I’m gonna get some drinks, any of you want anything?” Y/N looked between the three of them and the open bar that Tony put together last minute. The three of them shook their heads so she head on over, already preparing her order in her head before she got there.
“What can I get you?” The man behind the counter asked, taking out a small glass and waiting for her order.
“I’ll have a peach margarita,” Y/N remembered she promised Wanda she’d try her favorite drink. The man made it quickly and handed it back to her, the light orange drink looking incredibly delicious. She took a small sip and hummed in approval, mentally making a note to tell Wanda that she has good taste.
She turned around, prepared to make her way back, eyeing Bucky from across the room. She took one step away from the counter before a cold sensation made its way down her chest. She looked down, the deep red colour of wine making its way down the gorgeous dress Natasha lent to her.
“I - I am so sorry,” the girl panicked, looking at Y/N’s dress.
“It’s okay,” Y/N whispered, placing her drink down on the counter and running off to see Bucky. Damn, of course she would ruin the dress. She bumped in to people on the way but ignored their annoyed protests, needing to get the stain out as soon as possible.
“Hey, no drink - Oh, no,” Steve stopped talking when he saw the panicked look on Y/N’s face, “Natasha is going to kill you.”
“No shit, Steve,” Y/N snapped at him, “I gotta go change, don’t tell Nat!” Y/N rushed off out of the room and down to the living quarters where Tony had enough rooms to bunk everyone here when they needed it. Bucky followed her, trying to come up with ways to get wine out of the dress.
“This sucks,” Y/N grumbled, peeling the wet dress off of her body once she was in her room. Bucky was on his phone, trying to google how to get stains out as Y/N changed into whatever was in her drawers. To her luck, a warm pair of sweatpants and a tank top sat in the top drawer. Of course that’s all she would have.
“This is all I have,” Y/N pulled the clothes out and started to dress herself, facing away from Bucky as he continued to spit out ideas about cleaning the dress. Y/N knew Natasha was not one to get attached to things like dresses, but the guilt still bubbled inside of her at the thought of ruining one of her items. Once she was dressed, she flopped down on the bed next to Bucky, who was wearing one of his best suits.
“You look really good,” Y/N rolled over to face him, “I can’t go back there wearing this.”
“We don’t have to go back,” Bucky turned off his phone, turning his attention to his girlfriend. He was completely enamoured by her, and as much as he wanted to do this at the perfect time, he couldn’t wait any longer.
“Marry me,” He mumbled out, making her snap her head up and gaze into his eyes, her breath caught in her throat.
“What?”
“I’ve been thinking about this for a while,” he admitted, taking off his suit jacket, “I wanted to do this at the perfect time, but being here, just the two of us, it is perfect. I want you as my wife, I want this forever.”
“Bucky, oh my god- ”
“Let me do this,” Bucky chuckled, getting off the bed as he felt into his pocket, pulling out a small red velvet box, “Y/N Y/L/N, will you marry me?” He got down on one knee, smiling up at the woman in front of him.
Y/N’s heart practically jumped out of her chest as she looked at the man in front of her. He was everything she could ever want and more, and yet there was absolutely nothing she could have done to prepare for this moment.
“Holy sh - Yes, Bucky, yes, I’ll marry you,” she breathed out, nearly collapsing from how much her legs were shaking, even though she was still sitting on the edge of the bed. He let out a sigh of relief, standing up to pull her in for the most passionate kiss they’ve ever had. Every ounce of love and admiration was poured into it, and it was as if their souls connected on a whole new level. They pulled away after a good while and Bucky placed the ring on her finger as small tears of joy made their way down Y/N’s face.
“We’re engaged, can you believe it?” Bucky grinned, picking her up and spinning her around, his heart more full than he ever thought it could be.
“No, I can’t believe it,” Y/N breathed out once he put her down, “But I can’t wait to marry you, Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes.”
“And I can’t wait to marry you, my lovely Y/N.”
It was safe to say Natasha’s stained dress was forgotten as Bucky and Y/N got lost in each other for the rest of the night.
-
Nearly eight months after the engagement, Y/N was standing in front of a mirror in a long white down, Natasha and Wanda by her side dressed in rose gold bridesmaids gowns. It was the big day.
“I am about to pass out,” Y/N clutched the table in front of her, letting the bouquet she was holding rest on the counter top.
“You can do this,” Wanda chuckled, running her hand up and down Y/N’s back, the silk of her dress helping to cool her down. Y/N groaned, the nerves making her feel faint as she grabbed a pamphlet off the table and fanned herself.
“You have five minutes before walking down the aisle,” Natasha pat Y/N’s back and went to fetch Steve. He was the one who was going to walk her down the aisle, her father was unable to attend the wedding under a whole bunch of different circumstances. It sucked, sure, but Y/N found it almost even more appropriate to have Steve there.
“Don’t get Steve, that means I need to like, get married,” Y/N sounded exasperated, but Natasha left anyways. Wanda picked up the bouquet and handed it back to Y/N, giving her small words of comfort as Steve and Natasha walked back into the room, both grinning away at the sight of the bride in front of them.
Y/N looked gorgeous, and Steve felt his heart soar at how happy he was for his best friend to have found the love of his life in such an amazing woman.
“Bucky’s one hell of a lucky guy,” Natasha winked at Y/N before turning away and opening the door once again. Sam and Clint walked in, dressed in dashing suits with little flowers in their chest pockets. They were Bucky’s best men, much to a couple people’s surprise.
The time came quickly for Y/N to walk down the aisle. Clint and Natasha walked first, followed by Wanda and Sam. Bucky stood the front of the altar, hair groomed and dressed to break hearts. Y/N made her way around the corner with Steve’s wrapped around hers and the two of them made their way down the aisle. Bucky’s heart stopped when he saw her - he was truly captivated. Y/N had to admit, Bucky really looked incredible. The two of them kept their gaze on each other, everyone else around them practically disappearing as the realization set in that they were finally getting married.
“You look - wow - I’m so lucky,” Bucky whispered into her ear when she made her way up to stand next to him. She fought back a blush, turning to face him and leaning in slightly.
“I’m the lucky one,” she whispered back.
The minister started his speech, making them recite their vows in front of a teary crowd, the bridesmaids and best men helping each other keep it together. The closer and closer they were to being husband and wife, the more nervous Y/N got - not because she didn’t want this, but because she wanted it so badly she couldn’t believe it was actually happening.
“Now, James Buchanan Barnes, do you take Y/N Y/L/N to be your lawfully wedded wife?” He asked and Y/N’s heart came to a halt as she looked up at Bucky, his loving gaze already stuck on her.
“I do.”
Y/N grinned from ear to ear, the happiness spreading through her entire body like a tidal wave.
“Y/N Y/L/N, do you take James Buchanan Barnes to be your lawfully wedded husband?” The minister asked her, making her tighten her grip on her future husband’s hands.
“I do.”
It was as if the entire room went silent as Bucky and Y/N looked into each other’s eyes, practically missing the minister calling for the ring bearer. Clint’s youngest son walked out, a small pillow with two rings sitting on top of it in his hands.
Y/N placed Bucky’s ring on his finger and he did the same for her, and Y/N couldn’t take her eyes off of how her hand looked now as a married woman. She quite liked it.
“You may now kiss the bride.”
As Bucky connected his lips to Y/N’s, the entire room burst into applause, hoots and hollers coming from the team being silenced out by Y/N as she took everything in.
She was married.
She was now Mrs. Barnes.
“I love you so much,” Bucky mumbled against her lips, deepening the kiss slightly as Y/N heard sniffling from the bridesmaids behind her. She was over the moon and there was nothing that could dampen her mood.
The reception was filled with laughter, tears, stories, and beautiful toasts given by family members and the rest of the Avengers. Fury even got emotional - it had everyone surprised.
The romantic bonding of two Avengers was not one that anyone recommended, but sitting here today and witnessing the connection between Bucky and Y/N was one that brought a smile to everyone’s face.
“Mrs. Barnes,” Bucky grinned down at her as the two of them moved slowly on the dance floor surrounded by their best friends, “I could get used to that.”
“Me too, Mr. Barnes, me too.”

i love hearing what you have to say about season 4!! i promise it’s not too long lol, anyway i have a question for you: what do you think the next season holds for mike & el? i’m a little worried tbh
ahhh thank you !! same rules apply: spoilers ahead, so please read no further and blacklist/filter out the ‘s4′, ‘st4′, ‘spoilers’ tags if you don’t want to see anything !!
i’m going to talk about them both as individuals and as a pair but first, i have to say that i don’t personally feel like you have to worry about them breaking up or anything again this season. i think s4 is really going to establish romantic jopper and once that happens, i don’t see them, mileven, or jancy not being endgame unless someone actually dies. which -- i’m not going to think about the possibility of anyone dying until i’m forced to confront it, so. this is fiction and it’s already unrealistic and i’m gonna take my ‘everyone survives, happiness all around, time to relax’ endings and go. anyway, i would love to add lumax to this list but i honestly think it could go either way depending on what happens in s4. that’s a different essay, though.
i tend to think that the most important dynamic on the show is the one between the whole group and i just don’t really see them spending much more time trying to develop romantic relationships outside of the ones set up since s1/2. maybe steve, robin, and will get love interests, maybe they decide to develop dustin and suzie more, maybe suzie is never even mentioned again, idk. but these will probably all be secondary -- as in less screen time, not less important than the main romances, but probably still less developed. unless it happens to be a new person added to the main cast. which, as of now, the only new mains are brett and priah who has gone from recurring to regular. so.
i think s3 showed how messy and complicated romantic relationships (or, really just relationships in general) can be. everyone was arguing, there was miscommunication all around, everyone thought they knew what was best, no one was seeing eye to eye. but when it comes down to it, they would do anything for each other. they understand each other better than anyone else ever could. i can’t see them spending another season on breakups and romance drama after the ending of s3.
mike and el have already been separated once before. this time, mike knows for sure that she’s alive and that’s she’s with the byers. this time, el won’t be kept completely isolated away from everyone else. they’ve made plans to meet for the holidays. they can still call and talk to each other as much as they want. i’m hoping they handle being separated this time better than they did in s2. i don’t want mike to be moping and i don’t want el to spend a lot of the season thinking about how much she misses him. in fact, i think in their case that some distance could be good for them. the same for jancy and jopper, too, honestly. it’ll be nice to see them existing outside of these relationships while still acknowledging how important they are.
as far as i know, the byers and el stuff has not started filming yet so all there is to speculate on are rumors, the audition tapes, and logical guesses about where the story goes after s3. el obviously moves away with the byers. we still don’t know where. she’ll still be mourning hopper and trying to figure out life without her powers. and, of course, she’ll be in a long distance relationship with mike. i think she’ll be having a hard time and she’ll wish that mike was around, but she’ll realize she’s got a pretty good support system around her now with the byers, too. i’m very, very excited for more joyce and el content particularly, but there’s gotta be some great scenes with her and will and jonathan as well.
there’s only one audition tape that i can confidently tie into the byers + el plot(s?) and it’s the queen bee/mean girl character ‘angela’. if we’re running with the whole ‘there may be some truth to the audition vids’ thing, then this one teases that el will be going to school and that angela will be bullying her. this is something she would probably want to talk about with mike (b i g troy s1 vibes) but i don’t know if she actually would ? so this is probably more a thing that el and will could bond over or that she could talk about with joyce or maybe jonathan. i do think there will be at least a few calls between the two of them before the action really hits and the whole group is (hopefully...) reunited.
so, el -- at least in the beginning of s4 -- will be going to school where ‘angela’ bullies her, forming a bond with joyce + will + jonathan and becoming part of the family, mourning hopper (+ hopefully having conversations about him + his past with joyce), missing her friends back in hawkins, continuing to learn how to navigate life without her powers, and trying to maintain a long distance relationship with mike.
mike... i’ve been seeing some wild theories about him today but they aren’t really that far-fetched i think. first, going back to the audition tapes, the ‘eddie’ audition i saw makes it seem like mike is going to be part of the hellfire club with dustin. i’ve recently learned that there’s another version of the scene where ‘eddie’ is only talking to dustin and mike might not be a part of the club after all. if he isn’t part of the club, then the basketball v. hellfire, jocks v. nerds thing turns into lucas v. dustin and mike’s probably there just caught in the middle while max is off distancing herself from everyone.
at this point, i really want mike and max to become good friends. i think the end of s3 gave them the perfect opportunity. s4 max has s2 mike vibes. it’s not the same situation at all, but he knows kinda what she’s feeling and they could connect through that + the fact that they’ll both be missing el. i also just really want... some wheeler siblings content. i’m hopeful that s4 gives us good nancy and mike scenes bc there’s no reason not to give us good nancy and mike scenes (+holly!). however...
while there’s proof that gaten and sadie and natalia and priah have all been filming since production restarted, and while i have reason to believe that caleb has been filming a lot inside/at the studio recently... there’s no evidence that finn has been on set. there’s none for maya and joe, either, but people have said that finn isn’t even in atlanta right now. maybe he is and maybe he just hasn’t been seen and maybe he’ll pop back up tomorrow. or, maybe he already filmed whatever he needed to film for hawkins before production stopped.
the wild theory that’s popped up today is that everything gets to be too much for him in hawkins and he just... hops on a train to go visit el + the byers. i don’t know if i buy it, but it is interesting to note that he was sitting with them at the table read. and since we can guess that steve and robin will still be working at the video store, robin and nancy will be investigating pennhurst together, lucas and max may have some angst, joyce and murray are probably teaming up for the finding/saving hopper plot, and el is going to bond with will and jonathan, it seems like the order might mean a little something. i’d even bet that dustin and erica have scenes with them bonding over d&d.
now this theory pretty much only exists because no one’s seen finn on set and one of the paps posted some pics of some trains. there’s also always theories about how there will be issues at home with the wheeler fam and if that’s going to happen, what better time than in s4 when all of his friends are pulling away and el’s gone again. so if he is missing el (and will) that much, and if he has any reason to worry about her and how she’s doing, or if the party becoming distant and issues at home are weighing on him and he feels like he needs to get away, he’s absolutely the type to venture off on a train by himself. i don’t know how it would work since he’s definitely supposed to still be in school and his friends/nancy at least would notice he’s gone, but.. it’s fun to think about and we’ve got zero actual content to go off of right now.
another way i could see mike’s plot going is that he’s the one trying to keep the party together this season. playing mediator with lucas and dustin, becoming better friends with max, being the connection between the hawkins plot and the byers plot (along with nancy).
there was also talk of him joining the track team bc the track has been set up with hawkins high colors for filming. but mike ‘this isn’t a stupid sports game’ wheeler? i don’t think so... basically, no one knows at the moment what’s happening with mike wheeler in s4 lol.
s4 mike is just like s4 byers fam -- a complete mystery to me currently. i don’t personally think that he’ll be leaving school and hopping on a train to visit el. i think he’ll be a part of the hellfire club with dustin, or that he won’t and instead will be attempting to keep the party from completely disbanding. i hope that we get wheeler siblings scenes and that max and mike have a breakthrough and become better friends. i also feel like he’ll be having some complicated feelings about hopper, the last interaction they had, etc. and, again, the whole long distance thing with el.
so... mike and el broke up in s3. it was messy. but then they reconciled. and then hopper “died”. s3 ended with them at this weird place where she’s heard him say that he loves her and she’s told him that she loves him back. things are a little awkward in the scene bc everything has changed at this point, but a kiss, an ‘i love you’, planning to meet up on the holidays, and promising to call frequently all sounds like they’re back together and going to try making the long distance thing work to me.
i think they’ll be together when s4 starts. i think that we’ll probably only see them talking on the phone or their radios for the first few eps. maybe we’ll see flashbacks or something to them being together on the holidays. the distance might be hard and they’re definitely going to be missing each other. like... el doesn’t have mike or hopper with her now and i’m thinking the party is going to be drifting apart, plus they’re both probably going to have other personal issues that have nothing to do with each other or the party. maybe they’ll be experiencing some emotional distancing of their own while dealing with the aftermath of hopper’s “death”, the move, and whatever’s going on with them at home and at school. i think that once they reunite (probably not until the last half of the season), they’re likely to be stronger than ever.
now, onto personal theories that have zero basis. for some reason, i can’t get it out of my head that this season might dive into psychological horror a little bit ? like a greatest fears type of thing ?? and i keep thinking about brenner popping back up and using the people el loves to get to her or something and 👀👀

TIMELINE.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Freshman Year
-DECEMBER OF 2015 -Gains his powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider during a class trip to Doctor Curt Connors’ lab in Empire State University. -Spends the Christmas Break discovering and learning about his abilities, makes his First Suit out of some old pajamas.
-JANUARY 2016
-Being a kid and wanting to make a quick buck with his abilities, he enters a wrestling competition against Crusher Hogan.
-It’s the classic wrestling origin. Peter gets swindled out of money, a burglar steals money from the fight manager, Peter lets the Burglar go out of anger and spite for the manager. -Uncle Ben is murdered, Peter goes after the assailant and is horrified to discover it is the same Burglar he had let go earlier. -When you do the things that I can, but you don’t, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you. -Guilt stricken, he realizes the importance of Power and Responsibility and starts to fight crime, initially stopping small crimes, petty robberies, etc.
MARCH TO JUNE 2016:
-Rumors of an Insectoid-Man spread quickly throughout the underworld, it is initially believed to be a Lie made by crooks who want to dodge blame, but more and more YouTube videos of a man in a red and blue pajamas doing extraordinary feats quickly kills that possibility. -At the recommendation of his teachers, Peter starts interning at Connors’ Lab in ESU, it allows him to get a closer look at the kind of spiders that bit him, and leads him to discover that the irradiated spiders are a project Connors is working on under the funding of Oscorp. -During his crime fighting, he unknowingly halts several of The Big Man’s jobs. -Frequently swings into and stops the crimes of Alex O’Hirn and Flint Marko. -He runs into his first Out of the Ordinary Bad Guy when he ends up fighting Stilt-Man, instead of going for his legs he just punches him out cold.
CIVIL WAR INCIDENT - JUNE 26TH 2016
This is where the first of the several big canon rewrites comes in. For starters, the Airport Fight happens in New York instead of Germany, and Tony does not recruit Peter for his cause or give him the new suit. What happens is as follows,
-Peter sees the news of The Winter Soldier’s attack on United Nations. ( For the purposes of this rewrite, let’s say Bucky gets extradited to the U.S. for interrogation and trial and he is held in the same SHIELD base Steve woke up from his coma or whatever ) -Peter and Ned argue about Spider-Man not going for Stilt-Man’s legs during their fight. -Hearing the news of JFK suddenly closing down and rumors of people spotting ‘Very Serious Government People’ , Peter puts the two and two together and leaves abruptly, heading to the Airport in hopes of ‘Auditioning’ for the Avengers, because that’s what you do when you are a 15 year old with superpowers. -Beginning of the airport fight and Steve and Tony’s argument happens the same, majority of the fight happens the same way. -Peter, as Spider-Man, jumps into the fray during the Line Up. He immediately swings to Tony’s side because Iron Man is the hero he idolizes the most at that point in time. -Tony and Peter banter, with Tony not wanting a kid there and Peter being a dumbass kid and wanting to impress Tony. -Peter does not fight Steve, he is only there to take down Bucky and Prove His Mettle as a superhero. -The entire sequence with Bucky and Sam versus Spidey happens as shown. -Seeing Giant-Man appear and grumbling himself about the whole Stilt-Man argument still, Peter realizes he can go for Scott’s legs to take him down and does the whole AT-AT takedown move. -Gets knocked back onto the ground like in the movie, Tony goes to check on him to make sure this dumbass kid didn’t get himself killed, seeing he is alive and well, Tony is impressed but he tells Peter to go home. -Bedroom scene occurs as a post-credits scene, it becomes less about Tony recruiting Peter to his side and more about figuring out what the deal with this Spider-Man Kid is, leaves the suitcase with the Stark Suit as he leaves, says they’ll be in touch.
HOMECOMING - END OF AUGUST - SEPTEMBER 23RD 2016 / SOPHOMORE YEAR
-Peter turns sixteen in August 10th. -The movie happens largely the same -a Film by Peter Parker and the Limo Conversation naturally doesn’t happen considering the afromentioned changes to Civil War. -Tony does not save Peter from drowning, Peter gets out of the lake on his own.     Reason for this change is that this scene makes Tony way controlling and uncaring towards Peter? Which, compounded by the following scenes, really paints Tony in an awful light. It also makes it more impactful that the next time, and thus the first time, Peter properly interacts with Tony since Civil War is in the direct aftermath of the Ferry Fiasco when Tony comes to collect the suit. They are then both valid in their arguments in that Peter has let the Stark Suit’s abilities get to his head and act way reckless than he should, ( Stark Suit thus serving the same narrative purpose as the Symbiote Suit ) but it also makes Peter valid in that Tony has been completely ignoring Peter ( at least on the surface / from Peter’s point of view ) until it was too late. -Rest of the movie unfolds as shown. -Toomes is Peter’s first proper Super Villain.
OCTOBER 2016 - MAY 2017
-Toomes’ arrest causes his Alien Weapons empire to fracture and for alien tech to be more readily available to the highest bidder ( In the movie it seems like Toomes really wanted the sales to be more gradual and under the radar ) -Shocker breaks away from Toomes’ crew and ends up joining the Enforcers, working for Hammerhead, who works as the Right Hand Man for The Big Man. -Spidey’s encounters with the Enforcers leads Peter to learn about the existence of The Big Man. -Phineas Mason is still at large, Peter dubs him ‘ The Tinkerer behind Toomes ’ toys ’ because he does not directly know who he is but highly suspects his existence. -A Mysterious Benefactor starts bankrolling experiments for Super Mercs, armed with the alien tech, with the, initial, goal of ‘distracting’ Spider-Man from the Finer details of The Big Man’s organization (if he’s too busy fighting Super Villains, he’d be too busy to stop Illegal Shipments ya kno). -Alex O’Hirn undergoes the procedure to become the Rhino, having the experimental alien armor fused to his skin, and only able to perspirate through his face. It is due to this fact Peter manages to take him down the first time, ‘ overheating ’ him to get him to pass out. -During this incident, Spidey gets Rhino to spill the identity of the Big Man, one L. Thompson Lincoln, aka Tombstone. -It is also during this time Spidey has his first run-in with Captain George Stacy. -He goes to visit Tombstone to tell him he knows about him, promptly gets his ass kicked and high-thwips it out of there.
THANOS INCIDENT - MAY 2017
Welcome to the Big Canon Rewrite Number Two, here, Peter does not go to Titan. First part of his appearance happens as shown, with Peter seeing the giant Q ship up in the sky and sneaking out of the bus to help Tony and co. fight the Aliens, but after losing Strange to the ship’s tractor beam, he stays on Earth and helps with the clean-up in the aftermath. Maybe even bumping into a few Defenders while doing so wink wink nudge. As a result, he does not get the Iron Spider-Man suit, sorry Marvel’s toy department.
ENDGAME - DATE UNKNOWN
Okay here’s the deal, it literally does not matter how long it has been since they’ve been blipped. Literally anyone important to a plot has been Conveniently Snapped, only reason there is a five year jump is so they can age Cassie so she can become Stature in Ant Man 3, and have Tony have a family for the Drama of it. Literally that’s the only reason, there is a reason why Far From Home makes a joke out of it. So for the purposes of sanity, let’s just say they were snapped throughout the duration of the summer and they conveniently get brought back at the beginning of the school year. -This means Peter is a part of the Final Fight but in his Stark Suit instead of the Iron Spidey suit, he also does not activate Instant Kill (why the FUCK would he, Russos!!!!!) I don’t care either way about the hug, so that’s up in the air, but he definitely does not cling onto Tony’s body lmfao nah. It is nevertheless very upsetting and near-traumatic for him to see someone die in front of him (again!)
JUNIOR YEAR
SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER 2017
-Peter is now seventeen. -And he’s got PTSD like a motherfucker lmfao. -Getting turned into dust and coming back has everyone rattled, so the Criminal Underworld is working overtime. - Captain Stacy comes to Midtown to teach about Criminology, and also to keep an eye on his kid considering the circumstances. -Silvio ‘Silvermane’ Manfredi, head of the Maggia, is also due to be released on parole by the end of the year, so various Mob factions are trying to prepare themselves. -As a result, schematics to make more Rhino-like people hit the market, Spidey and O’Hirn actually end up teaming-up together to destroy the schematics, resulting in a three way fight between them, Hammerhead, and the Manfredi mob. -Hammerhead’s recent repeated failures shakes Tombstone’s faith in him. -The Enforcers get fancy schmancy Combat Enhancement Suits, courtesy of The Tinkerer, and Spidey has to deal with them. -Hammerhead stops the Enforcers’ getaway attempt in secret, signaling a rift between him and Tombstone. -Manfredi is released right before Christmas.
JANUARY 2018
-The Gang War(tm) begins in full force. -Spidey’s hands are full navigating the powder keg of a situation, with Tombstone and Manfredi vying for control, with Hammerhead planning something behind the scenes.
FEBRUARY 14TH 2018 -Hammerhead arranges a meeting of the factions in Metropolitan Opera House, without Tombstone’s knowledge. -Once revealed, Tombstone does not take kindly to this disobedience. -Hammerhead reaches his breaking point and attacks Tombstone. -Silvermane decides to take both of them out to eliminate the competition fully. -Silvermane, in a mechanical combat suit of his own (because comics bebey) attacks Tombstone and Hammerhead, resulting in a three way fight. -Spidey arrives and has to fight the three of them. -After a long and exhausting battle, Spidey prevails, Silvermane is arrested once again, L. Thompson Lincoln is publicly revealed to be The Big Man of Crime, and Hammerhead is nowhere to be found. -Tombstone posts bail, but Captain Stacy tells Spidey that his crime empire is crippled and there is a power vacuum. One that a certain Wilson Fisk will take advantage of soon.
LATE FEBRUARY - JUNE 2018
-Spidey is basically doing clean-up duty in the aftermath of the Gang War(tm) -He is trying to find where Hammerhead is, but comes up empty. -All Spidey can find are the rumors that he went back to his old employment under the Maggia. -He takes down last of the known Manfredi fronts before preparing for his Europe trip (it’s the restaurant fight from the FFH trailers)
FAR FROM HOME - JUNE 2018 -Happens largely the way it is depicted in the movie -He does not have the Iron Spider Suit still, in case you forgot. -Smaller differences being Peter being pegged the ‘New Iron Man’ less because of his ‘Mentorship’ under Tony and more because people are just fucking desperate for a new Big Hero, which is where Mysterio comes in. -He sees Ben’s grave instead of Tony’s during the Mysterio Fun Tour of Trauma, Zombie Iron Man still comes out of it tho because Symbolism ( not because Tony is a new Uncle Ben figure, but because it represents Peter not always being able to save everyone, even though Tony’s condition was out of his hands.) -BIGGEST DIVERGENCE: Unless plotted, I generally DO NOT recognize Peter’s identity being outed. There are two options / variations I could go with                    -Peter IS claimed to be Spider-Man, but after a Movie’s worth of adventures, he enlists the help of either a skrull or Chameleon (Dmitri the Bus Driver in FFH) to have Spidey appear in the same room as Peter and re-establishes his secret identity.                    -Mysterio just brands Spider-Man as a menace and that’s that. In any case, this leads to..
SENIOR YEAR
SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER 2018
-Peter turns eighteen. -Branded as a menace, Spider-Man is now disliked and hunted by most authorities. -Captain Stacy, however, does not believe Mysterio and is one of Spidey’s few friends still left in the police force. -He also makes numerous remarks towards Peter and Spider-Man that suggests he figured out his secret identity on his own. -Anastasia Kravinoff arrives in New York with the intention of Hunting Spider-Man. -At the same time, Mac Gargan is hired by The Mysterious Benefactor to undergo the Super Merc procedure to hunt Spider-Man. -Kraven has her first encounter with Spidey, in which she manages to tear off a piece of his suit that she later uses to track his scent. -Mr Harrington’s class trip to Bronx Zoo is promptly ruined when Kraven shows up tracking Spidey’s trail. -The publicized skirmish in the Zoo attracts the attention of Gargan, now in a mechanical suit with a long, poison-tipped tail, stylized after Gargan’s favorite arthropod, which easily earns him the nickname ‘Scorpion’. -Spidey manages to escape, but barely. -It all comes to a head in New York Botanical Garden is a totally epic final showdown. -Maybe Rhino gets involved too and it’s a full on Survival of the Fittest in the jungle. -Peter gets stung by the poison tail but manages to shake it off. -He gets speared in the thigh at least once during the battle. -Scorpion and Rhino get imprisoned in the Vault, Kravinoff gets arrested as well but she posts bail and gets out scot free because she’s got Powerful Connections(tm)
JANUARY - MAY 2019
-Doctor Connors achieves a breakthrough on his Cross-Species formula -He tests it on himself, and initially achieves great results by regrowing his arm. -Over the following weeks, however, more and more side effects start to show by patches of green scales on his skin, increased aggression and hostility and occasional lapses in intelligence. -Around March, he has his first Lizard transformation. -Peter suspects it’s Connors, but he does not figure it out until April. -With each transformation, Connors stays as Lizard longer and longer. -I am basically ripping off the plot of the first TASM movie. -Peter and Gwen manage to synthesize an antidote. -Connors has a similar goal as to his movie counterpart, but he decides to Unleash the Lizard virus on top of Empire State Building. Because a) King Kong reference with Lizard climbing the antenna, and b) Connor going from Empire State University to Empire State Building, it’s a fun progression. -Spidey and Lizard fight on top of Empire State, with George Stacy coming to Spidey’s aid. -Spidey manages to administer the antidote to the Lizard, reverting him back to Connors who retains no memories of his actions as the Lizard. -Stacy gets injured by Lizard and before succumbing to his injuries, tells Peter to keep Gwen safe and ‘out of it’. -Lizard’s true identity remains unknown to the public, but Connors decides to relocate his family to Florida to get away from the noise of the city. Before leaving, he tells Peter to seek out his old colleague Otto Octavius if he wants to further his studies.
END OF MAY 2019
-Peter Parker graduates Midtown School of Science and Technology. -He applies and is accepted by Empire State University. Peter does not consider any other college as he wants to stay in New York for obvious reasons.
FRESHMAN UNDERGRAD
SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER 2019
-Peter is nineteen. -He starts his studies in ESU -He is still not the Most Popular -Peter reconnects with Harry Osborn (they are Old Childhood friends and Harry used to be in Midtown for the first year but then he went to Europe, as you do.) -Spidey is still branded as a menace and hunted, though not as ferociously as before as the public’s opinion starts to turn positive ever so slowly. -The Mysterious Benefactor has Alistair Smythe build robotic spiders to hunt and slay the Spider. Like Spider Slayers. SENIOR UNDERGRAD
SEPTEMBER 2020 - MAY 2021
-Pete turns twenty two. -He spends most of the year working on his thesis like a good nerd. -Spidey is occasionally tipped toward Fisk fronts by a Mysterious Goblinafactor -Norman wanted to bust into the Crime Scene being the Goblin and taking over the Big Man’s turfs but Fisk beat him to it so he has to be content with just being the Mayor for the time being -Goblins am I right. -He’s also the one who supplied Silvermane with his own armor. -Also the one who maaaay have broadened the rift between Hammerhead and Tombstone by sabotaging Hammerhead’s plans behind the scenes. -He is the Big Man behind the Big Men if you will. -Anyway back to Peter -Turns in his thesis, graduates ESU. Strength of his thesis is what convinces Otto to have Peter also come into work with him in the Brand New Octavius Industries. -Norman is content to just play the Mayor and let Fisk be as Spidey and Yuri gather more and more evidence.
POST-GRAD / INSOMNIAC’S SPIDEY STUFF -Events of the game happen broadly the same -Fisk is taken down, Mister Negative enters the scene, Devil’s Breath Incident happens and Spidey gets his ass thoroughly kicked by Sable, etc. etc. -Otto turns into Ock. -Ock facilitates the Vault Breakdown (MCU got a Raft up and running and it ain’t in NYC sooo, Vault it is) and forms the Sinister Six. -However instead of Vulture being part of the Sinister Six, it’s Kraven. She’s back for a proper rematch. -Unless plotted, May does not die from exposure to the virus, she just gets really messed up and hospitalized, but she gets cured later. -Events of the DLC happen largely as shown as well, Hammerhead techs himself up, Yuri goes Wraith, Sable kicks Spidey’s ass again but also grows a Heart. Aw. -Osborn resigns in disgrace, but as luck would have it, Fisk and Li’s arrest leaves a nice Goblin-shaped hole in the criminal underworld for Gosborn to fill. -Norman discovers Harry’s ‘cure’ is sorta sentient.
WILL GORMAN GOSBORN FINALLY FACE OFF WITH SPIDER MAN? WILL SPIDEY LEARN THE REAL MASTERMIND BEHIND EVERYTHING? WILL HARRY GET GOOPED? WILL PETER FINALLY DISCOVER WHY KIDS LOVE THE TASTE OF CAP’N CRUNCH?
ALL THAT AND MORE, NEXT TIME ON, THE SPECTACULAR ADVENTURES OF THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN!

What did you think about the end of Endgame and the Steve and Bucky story arch?
Hi anon!
Thanks a lot for your message ♥
I actually enjoyed the ending. Ok, being the “drama queen” that I am, I would have preferred Steve to have an epic sacrificial death alongside Tony followed by a big funeral, a bit like the one of Superman at the beginning of Justice League (the movie was meh but this intro scene was amazing), but as the great poet Mick Jagger once said “you can’t always get what you want”
Tumblr media
However, I didn’t expect Steve to join Peggy thanks to time travels but somehow, I had the intuition that something was going to happen to him, some problems with the serum maybe, and that he would age rapidly and become “old Steve” OR that he would become “Tiny Steve” again. I was wrong, he time traveled and aged normally, certainly had a family with Peggy, etc… We don’t know what he did during that time from the forties (fifties?) to present days, though. Saving Bucky? Saving himself from under the ice? Not intervening in order not to screw more things in this timeline? It’s open to interpretation and thank god, we have fan fictions for all this (the number of “fix it” fics is insane by the way. How do you want me to read all this? xD)
What is not very clear in my opinion is Steve’s timeline: as he created a new future by travelling back in time, a bit like a “flashpoint” because he change the past at a specific point, didn’t he create a new timeline? If so, he wouldn’t have been able to join Buck and Sam at the edge of the lake ? Or maybe did he just change HIS and Peggy’s timelines (a new Peggy) and as it didn’t affect the rest, he was able to meet Buck and Sam later in time? Anyway, it’s something like this apparently:
Tumblr media
Screencap from this very interesting video
Also, unlike a lot of people, it didn’t shock me that he joined Peggy. Some people pointed out that at the end of Age of Ultron, Steve was not interested in having a family anymore and that his life as an Avengers was everything but between Age of Ultron and Endgame, EIGHT YEARS passed for him and Steve was not the same man anymore: there was the Snap of course but what made him take this decision IMO was:
1) seeing Tony having a great life, a wife, a daughter. He had a glimpse of what it could be to stay away from fighting and he hoped something like this for himself. Yup, maybe it wasn’t so bad.
2) he had the POSSIBILITY to join Peggy, a thing that didn’t happen before in the story. Peggy was the love of his life and she belonged to the past until finally Tony managed to create a way to time travel. Steve saw Peggy for the first time in 80 years and it changed everything. There was shift inside him and you can see it when he sees her in her office hidden behind the blinds. He tried to have a girlfriend (Sharon), a life, but it didn’t work out. It was Peggy from the start and now that he had a way to make things work, he decided to take his chance.
3) the next generation of Avengers is here and Steve knew he could retire. If there’s a problem, Clint, Scott, Wanda, Rhodey, Thor, The Guardians, Strange, Carol, the Wakandans, Banner, etc…and of course Sam and Buck, will be here to protect the Earth. His job is done and he knows he can leave with his mind at peace.
Tumblr media
Was it selfish? A bit, certainly, but Steve thinks that he did enough since 1943 and did what he had to do: he stopped Thanos, rescued Bucky from Hydra, gave the mantle to a new Captain America. If he joined Peggy before she could met her husband and have children, it doesn’t change anything for the old Peggy we saw in The Winter Soldier. This Peggy got married to another man and had a great life. The Peggy Steve had a dance with at the end of Endgame is another Peggy, starting a new life with Steve in a new timeline.
As far as Bucky is concerned, he knew what Steve wanted to do. You don’t tell your best friend that is supposed to come back in FIVE SECONDS according to Banner, “I’m gonna miss you, Buddy”. They talked about all this before “Steve’s big jump”, his plans, if Buck was gonna be alright, giving the shield to Sam. OF COURSE they did! However, I think that Buck didn’t expect to see Steve return at this place and time in order to give the shield to Sam. He smiles when he sees his friend as if he was thinking “the lil’ shit always has to be dramatic, look at him making an entrance”.
What is interesting is what kind of man Bucky is going to become now that Steve won’t be at his side. He says himself that he’s a “semi stable 100 year old man”. By this, I don’t think he means going “full Winter Soldier” again, of course, but how after 70 years of brain washing, PTSD, etc..he’s going to go on with his life. I hope they will show this part of his personality in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier show and that they won’t sugarcoat this side of Bucky’s life because it’s on a family VOD channel. But hey, we have a show, with the original cast, we are going to see Sam and Buck again, it’s already not so bad! Anyway, Steve trusted him enough to be on his own so we can trust Bucky too :)
Also, I hope things stay that way when it comes to Steve (and even Tony). RDJ and Evans said that they were done with the MCU and it’s a good thing at this point of the story. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the guys so much that I wish they could have played Cap and Tony until they were 90, I am DEVASTATED to let them go, but after what happened to Steve and Tony in Endgame, it’s better for them not to come back. I’m telling you this a big Supernatural fan, a show where death has lost all its meaning because the characters spend their time coming back from the dead. They should have stuck to “What is dead should stay dead” and I hope that the MCU does it because that’s what makes Tony’s sacrifice so powerful: the fact that he’s not going to come back.
Anyway, I hope that my explanations were clear. Speaking about time travel is already complicated enough for me in French so I hope that my Frenglish was understandable. Somehow. ^^;;
Enjoy your weekend ♥

‘Til the End of the Line (or Not) OR: See? We TOLD You “No Homo.” Love, Markus and McFeely
*****WARNING: 99.9% SALT!! Contains spoilers for Avengers Endgame!!****
I guess this is part two of my personal processing of Endgame. @pitchforkcentral86 was not satisfied by my timey-wimey Endgame post, which centered on Steve’s choice to go back in time to be with Peggy and the implications of that choice. She remarked that yeah, it’s great that Steve might not be a total piece of crap, Pym particles, yada yada, whatever, but it still didn’t make her feel any less despair over this ending.
The source of her agony: Steve and Bucky’s relationship and its utter lack of satisfying resolution. So I shall address that now, because I think I feel worse about that than anything, and I can’t explain it away with Pym particles.
Anyone who has any investment at all in the relationship between Bucky and Steve — whether you are a Stucky person or whether you view them as platonic but deeply connected best friends — has probably had to spend the last two movies scraping around the floor, searching for crumbs, signs, any hints that these two people care about each other. We have been begging the Russos, the screenwriters Markus and McFeely, anyone who would listen, for anything to suggest that they are even on the barest of speaking terms, let alone that they have the intensity of relationship that the MCU spent 3+ movies explicitly convincing us that they have. I’ll even come out and say that although I ship Stucky in fandom and fic hardcore, I am not an MCU canon Stucky person per se. I’m 100% fine if the MCU wants to treat this as a deep, fraternal friendship. In fact, I see some benefits to this interpretation. How wonderful if men could love each other so deeply and have it NOT be sexual or romantic. But I’m also 100% fine with people interpreting this as romantic love, and there were times throughout this franchise where the actors, various parties in production, and Marvel itself has been agnostic on the subject, if not encouraging of gay interpretations of their relationship. Let it be what you want, fans have been told. Or just flat out post a pic of Steve and Bucky on #National Boyfriend Day like Civil War comic writer Mark Millar. Sure. At times, it almost felt safe to ship them. As soon as Civil War drew to a close, however, it started becoming... inconvenient for Bucky and Steve to be together. Steve needs to go to the Raft. Bucky needs to go into cryo. Steve needs to become Nomad and go secret avenging. Bucky needs to do his Vibranium Brain Magic (TM)/goat herding complex PTSD recovery program. Side note: Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) is my provisional diagnosis based on virtually nothing, because Bucky’s character has gotten so little substantive screen time that we can only guess at his psychological state, save what can be conveyed through glistening eyes and woobieface and “... but I did it.” Wow. Bowl me over, you really got me right in the McFeelys. Though +1000 to SebStan for working what he got to work with to the max. That motherfucker can act. We know for certain approximately jack shit about Bucky’s internal experience post-Winter Soldier. And so, like pretty much everything with Bucky and this friendship/ship arc, I will just guess at what is actually wrong with him. But after 70 years as a POW being tortured and possibly gaslit and definitely brainwashed, that is almost the textbook recipe for complex PTSD, so imma go with that. Returning to this distance. Now, it first appears to be largely logistical in nature. Steve is over here, Bucky is over there. Golly, just too busy to hang these days. All this secret avenging without you. And when we pine — pine — for the meaningful reunion of these two in IW, instead we got a “Hey brah, how's it hanging?” “You know, old and traumatized lol” exchange and a “let’s make sure our dicks don’t touch” back-slappy hug that lasted two seconds. This is without any hint as to whether these two have seen each other yet after Bucky’s de-thawing, leaving us to wonder whether this is really the big reunion we have been waiting for.
Tumblr media
(If we had audio, the sound would be 70% slapping.)
I’m going to pause here, because for many of us, this was devastating. After all, we were left with this shot of Steve as Bucky made the choice to go into cryo, a choice that seemed only somewhat justifiable on the vague grounds of “I can’t trust my own mind.” (Me either, pal.)
Tumblr media
Ugh.
Perhaps this was also an avoidance strategy — easier to go back on ice than deal with the emotional fallout of what just happened. And who could blame him? He is probably still relearning how to cope effectively with things after his entire coping system was destroyed by his time with Hydra. But Steve was clearly disappointed or, at the very least, saddened by this. He gets something back just to lose it again. Enter distance. He leaves and goes avenging. Emotionally, perhaps this move to cryo created distance as well. Their relationship was on such fragile ground at this point, mostly an artifact from the ‘40s, and their chance to deepen it was taken away by the writers because Bucky wanted to go on ice for reasons and Steve needed to do Steve things. And so when IW rolled around, oh, did we want them to have a substantive reunion. But alas, we did not get that. We saw equally substantive exchanges between Bucky and Sam or Rocket and far more substantive exchanges between Steve and pretty much anyone else. And then we got the ultimate separation — (fake) death. Again. A traumatic, unplanned loss that costs another five years from their timeline, all before they even got the chance to properly re-establish a friendship. Again, I’m going off of what we actually see portrayed, not off of what we assume or would like to see. We have absolutely no idea how much Steve and Bucky interacted in Wakanda. But Steve busted Sam out of the Raft quite early, early enough that he still had a messed up face from the time Tony went in (unless he was getting beatings on the reg, which is possible). So if he was hanging with Sam since before Bucky went on ice, and Sam just visited Wakanda for the first time in IW, either Steve was borrowing the Quinjet to secretly visit Wakanda on his own to hang with Bucky, or he hadn’t been back to Wakanda since he left the first time.
Regarding Steve visiting Wakanda between CW and IW — I found this bullshit from Markus and McFeely on the subject of whether Steve and Bucky met or talked prior to IW. The writers could not even agree about their own characters, with one saying that Steve and his crew probably visited Wakanda and hung out with Bucky and the other saying, eh, the two of them “maybe Skyped.” As to the former, this is not at all supported by the narrative or by logic. Infinity War is clearly Sam’s first time in Wakanda, with all that drama about “zomg you’re gonna hit those trees, bro!” as they are flying into the city. And why would Steve  leave his team alone and vulnerable, probably taking the Quinjet, their only form of reliable and safe transportation, so he could go visit Bucky alone? He’s not there for a booty call, y’all, because these guys have barely even rekindled their friendship. Moreover, the other secret avengers know how important Bucky is to Steve. This isn’t a secret. There would be no reason to go alone and no reason for T’Challa to forbid Nat, Sam, and Wanda from coming to Wakanda. So it makes no sense that Steve has visited Wakanda prior to IW, and thus, that would make IW their first meeting, which is… utter and heartbreaking garbage. But at least they had motherfucking SKYPE. MAYBE. Fuck. You. Very. Much.
So, in the face of this shit reunion and Bucky’s subsequent dusting, some of us kindled hope for the upcoming Endgame. Perhaps we would get flashbacks. We knew there would be flashbacks or time travel because we saw stuff in the trailers and sneak peeks from the set. So maybe there would be something there to account for the utter lack of attention to their relationship in Infinity War. Again, this was the mere request that Markus and McFeely and the directors acknowledge wholeheartedly what they have been building for these characters since the beginning of their time in the MCU. This was not even strictly about Stucky. This was about doing justice for these characters as humans. But there were no flashbacks. Who knows what happened in Wakanda. We will have to fill in the blanks on our own. Not a single comment could be spared to even signal whether the IW Wakanda scene was their first time seeing each other since cryo.  “How’s that new arm treating you?” or “God, it’s been so long”/deep emotion would be all it would have taken to not keep us wondering one way or the other. This suggests a lack of consideration to the fans of these characters and this relationship — which, again, Markus and McFeely slaved to get us to pour our hearts into. So… Endgame. What was that? Bucky and Steve didn’t stand next to each other at Tony’s funeral. Okay. Bucky is not an A-list Avenger. He did kill Tony’s parents. Awkward. Bucky was comforted by Sam, his… guy he sat behind in the Volkswagen in Civil War and fought next to in IW, and he needed comfort apparently (?) because he… killed Martha and Howard Stark (??), which was sweet, and much more spontaneous affection than we’ve seen from Steve in an age, but what the actual fuck??? Was that Mickey Mouse standing behind the Iron Man 3 kid wearing a “Falcon and Winter Soldier” miniseries t-shirt?
And that ending. This was maybe the one implied nugget of friendship between them visible with an electron microscope. They obviously had at least one deep conversation about Steve deviating from the plan to go have a life, and they obviously had a discussion about who would succeed him as Cap. My dreams of Bucky Cap were dashed into dust, but as @pitchforkcentral86 said, it would have been cruel to give it to Bucky. Bucky would possibly have taken it if Steve kicked the bucket in EG, but it makes the most sense to be passed along in a planned way to Sam. So maybe they had at least one good conversation. Way, way off camera. Bucky said he would miss him. Recycled TFA line. Thank God it was not involving the words “jerk” and “punk.” Glistening woobie eyes. Steve leaving to go be with the one person who can make him feel like a whole human being, apparently, because there is nothing and nobody tethering him to this time in history anymore.
Whoa— wait— WHAT??? These are the moments where I literally double check the credits for the Cap movies to make sure that it says “Markus and McFeely.” Then I check the latest Avengers movies to make sure they also say “Markus and McFeely.” And they ALL DO!! The same two men painstakingly crafted the story of Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, two men who — let’s be literal in the narrative here, for the sake of making a conservative argument — are best friends from childhood. They hammered on this story HARD, making sure that their relationship was so strong that by the time 2016 rolled around, the depth and intensity of their friendship and Steve’s commitment to it would tear the Avengers apart. And along the way, something else happened.
When you put two people in relationship like this, you have to know that there will be consequences. People will grow very emotionally invested in their relationship, because that is exactly what the writers were asking the audience to do. These dudes did their job, all right! And then something else happened, quite easily, even though these things will also happen under much harsher conditions: Stucky. Winter Soldier alone probably launched a hundred thousand ships for these two — gay, gay ships, so very gay, the glitteriest, gayest of cruise liners — from a hundred thousand ports around the globe. This ship has permeated pop culture even outside the fandom (some dumb gross man jokes from Screen Junkies within, but the Stucky shenanigans start at around 3:15).
And perhaps that’s when Markus and McFeely realized what a monster they created, one that would clash in ugly ways with their forthcoming (heterosexual) narrative, — their endgame for Steve. And so what did they do? Overcorrect. Wildly. Pull the plug. Bucky and Steve can’t fall out as friends completely, but what’s the next best thing? Give them almost zero screen time together, lest anyone be tempted to think they have a serious relationship — and again, I’m just talking friendship at this point, let alone anything else. Make their lines devoid of substance. Keep us wondering about the nature of their dynamic. Did the distance grow too great? Is Bucky not able to reconnect with anyone? Is Steve too busy? Too salty?? Who knows! These are possibilities, but none are explained. Then just poof Bucky off the face of the earth for 5 years to create existential distance. And in the meantime, ensure that Bucky is shown as not even a passing thought for Steve Rogers. Ensure that his name is never once uttered by Steve until he is about to leave him to go be with Peggy — oh except when, in a real dick move, when he emotionally whumps his past self with the news that Bucky is alive for the sole purpose of getting out of a stranglehold. At the same time, ensure that Steve is seen becoming single-mindedly fixated on Peggy Carter, and make sure the audience — including all those pesky Stucky shippers — knows that he considers her the “love of his life.” Ensure we see the compass with increasing frequency and with maximum longing. Insert Steve finding the absurd photograph of himself on the Director of SHIELD’s desk, facing the door for any junior colleague to see her pining over him like a schoolgirl long after he died, which is just about the least Peggy Carter thing I can ever imagine (and these people created and wrote for the Agent Carter TV series!!!).
Then give us our first openly gay person in the MCU. And drop him in the same scene that you confirm once and for all that Peggy Carter is the love of Steve Rogers’ life. Have Steve be so fucking cool with it that he makes us proud and relieved that he’s not a homophobe. Whew! Only… it makes us feel kind of gross, and maybe we can’t quite figure out why at first. But maybe it’s because it feels  personal, like a concession, like the writers and director knew exactly what they were doing to a lot of people who feel a very specific way about Steve’s sexuality and about his relationship with Bucky Barnes. It feels like a tone deaf nod to the fandom. Sorry, guys. No homo. We really did try to warn you with the whole Sharon Carter thing. (Sharon Carter, in an act of gross and misogynistic misuse, remains one of the most criminally mistreated characters in the entire MCU, arguably serving almost entirely as a “no homo” device before being completely discarded, never to be heard from again.)
Which got me thinking — was this move to distance Steve and Bucky so abruptly a reactive move? The divide between Steve and Bucky that happens in IW and EG feels so cold and inorganic. It does not feel at all driven by the natural arc of the characters as established by the creators themselves. It feels rushed and confusing, like it just needed to happen for plot convenience (though not even clearly that), and once again, we are left trying to figure out what the fuck is actually going on.
Part of that is probably needing to lay the groundwork for Steve’s feelings of alienation, which lead him to his ultimate choice to go back in time. He can’t feel too connected to Bucky or he won’t want to go back to be with Peggy. But could part of this also possibly be a reaction to how strongly Stucky was adopted by the public? Did Markus and McFeely realize how much more strongly we love the idea of Steve and Bucky — as friends or lovers, who cares? — rather than Steve and Peggy, which was probably their ending for Steve all along? Did they realize their terrible mistake of bringing them so close, endearing them to us so much, and then realize “OH SHIT,” and then slam on the brakes? Is that why IW and EG felt like absolute shit for their relationship, even for those who are not total endgame Stucky people?
Okay, but what if their friendship just ran its course? Friendships do that, even really deep ones. These two have had a huge chronological and experiential rift that never was really healed (thanks to our dear writers). Steve saved Bucky’s life thrice but they never really reconnected. Presumably. As far as we know in the narrative we are given by the writers. Okay. Let’s say you need to get Steve back with Peggy and for Bucky to become pals with Sam instead because contracts and actors. Whatever. Fine. But if you are going to play the “our friendship has come and gone” card, you need to fully PLAY IT. You can’t make it some vague option that might be true because we can’t figure out what the hell is going on. They need to have an actual conversation. For fuck’s sake, if we have time to fuck around with Korg and Miek on the couch and time to have Banner take selfies with kids and do stupid time gags and a bunch of other little shit, there is enough time to have a brief conversation somewhere to imply that “things have changed” or “people change” or something to imply that the writers were even thinking about the course of Bucky and Steve’s relationship as more than just a platform to launch Steve back to Peggy and launch Bucky toward Sam for their spinoff series.
There was just no depth. How can they give us three movies composed almost entirely of Mariana Trench levels of depth between these two men and then give us virtually nothing in IW and then next to nothing in EG to “round out” their entire storyline? The shape of the emotional momentum in this relationship is so wonky and dissatisfying, and the lack of comment on the dissolution of their friendship in the narrative, the fact that it isn’t even being acknowledged, is one of the worst parts. This relationship died without being honored or even attended to at the most basic level, after being told that it is perhaps the most important relationship in Steve and Bucky’s lifetimes and being shown evidence of that fact.
Moreover, let’s get real — calling Peggy the love of Steve’s life should do nothing to diminish his friendship with Bucky Barnes. That’s not how love works. You don’t just get one person. You can have a best friend — hell, you can have two best friends — and a woman you love. (And even moreover, you don’t have to leap back through time to find closeness just because you can. But that’s another matter with Steve’s character that I will address in a future speculative character analysis on Steve in an effort to explain how he got to this point, because I have a super depressing head canon about it involving traumatic grief and loss.)
But just like comic book science, perhaps there are comic book rules about love and affinity. You only get one person, and Steve gets Peggy. And apparently Bucky gets Sam. Because contracts. But as I said before, I would have been okay if they had a dissolution of their friendship because that was the course of their friendship. Just tell us what is happening. Have the decency to respect your characters by giving their relationship a true arc, whatever it is. You can’t just recycle a TFA line and call it an arc. That is not an arc. Markus and McFeely goddamn know better and we know they know better, because we just saw a beautiful relationship arc closing with Tony and Pepper and, on a smaller scale, with Tony and Peter fucking Parker.
By the way, the small in-person and symbolic interactions between Tony and Peter in EG? Those are what high quality, emotionally salient, brief interactions between people who care about each other look like.
1. Tony’s picture of Peter in his kitchen: He can see from where he does his dishes. He looks at it meaningfully and thoughtfully before making a major plot-essential decision that risks his way of life.
2. Tony and Peter’s reunion hug: It starts off with some humor and classic Peter rambling. Becomes a full-ass, real hug. Nobody slaps the other’s back. Peter remarks, very sincerely, “oh, this is nice.”  <3
3. Tony’s death scene: Peter is visibly and truly wrecked. Tony looks at him in a heartfelt way. Words are unnecessary. It is perfect.
Bonus IW moment, because it is one of the most moving images I have seen in the MCU: Tony has Peter’s ashes in his goddamn mouth, eyes closed. Defeated.
Tumblr media
Jesus Christ. Don’t tell me Markus and McFeely don’t know how to write characters and brief, powerful interactions, even when the characters are not together. They most certainly are very, very capable of this.
So why did we get the lifeless, quippy drivel and lame physical contact they gave Bucky and Steve in IW and EG? Which, regarding their last convo, was Bucky spilling his guts and Steve being like “Yeah brah, you’ll be fine, don’t be a fucking idiot while I’m off being happy with the only person in the universe who can make me complete #surprisesoulmates.” Bucky offers his quippy mandatory TFA callback retort so that the audience remembers that these two once gave an actual fuck about each other at one point in the narrative.  Cue slappy-back-no-dick-touch hug. And please don’t tell me that this is just how men from the ‘40s hug. I would buy that for TFA, but after everything they’ve been through in Winter Soldier and Civil War? I am not buying it.
Tumblr media
**Slap-slap**
So we get a Steve Rogers who exits the MCU permanently by making a contentious, questionable final choice with questionable implications that take a graduate degree and/or a hive mind to questionably figure out (or else I’m just a fucking idiot and I’m the only one who needed those things). And we also get the profoundly dissatisfying demise of a relationship that we invested a tremendous amount of emotional energy in because that is what the screenwriters and directors asked us to do.
I am not writing this as a diehard Stucky shipper. I love Stucky, don’t get me wrong. It’s all I read and write in fandom. And I can certainly buy a world (at least, in Caps 1-3) where canon Steve’s love for Bucky is the gay kind and vice versa. Sure. But I am writing this as a person who loves good characters and good story, and this is such a hard fail that even if I had no emotional investment in these two characters, I would wonder what Markus and McFeely had against Steve and Bucky that they let their garden succumb to drought while they tended so considerately to Tony and Peter and Tony and Pepper and Steve and Natasha and Steve and a dead woman and Thor and Bruce and Thor and fucking Rocket, pretty much all of whom (with the exception of Tony and Pepper) have had so much less at stake, so much less time invested, and so much less of a reason for the audience to give a fuck.
But more importantly, I am writing this as a lover of Steve and Bucky, two people who have a well-established, rock-solid, indisputable human relationship that deserves so much more than what it got, especially given all of the unspeakable suffering these men have experienced separately and as a byproduct of their separation. Canonically. This is not made up fandom shippery superimposed upon Markus and McFeely’s precious creation. This is the truth of these two men as determined by the hands of the creators who also neglected them into nothingness, which is arguably a fate far worse than one or both of them dying an actual, final death.
I am left feeling disappointed and betrayed as a fan, wishing, as others have confided in me, that I was more of a Tony person and had been all along. Because then I would be walking away from this still grief-stricken, but at least it would be for the right reasons.

--
I will leave you with this, arguably one of the last in-character moments for Bucky and Steve in the MCU.

State of the Fics 2019
The WIPS and Dead Ends Edition
So: having recently had a few discussions with some fellow authors and talking about other writers and stuff... here is where I’m going to answer some/most/all of the MOARPLZ requests.
I have 440+ works on A03 and a lot of what I hear is MOARPLZ or “is there going to be any more of this...”
So, I’m kinda going through my list right now and letting you know what my plans are for 2020 and what, if anything, you can count on to see more of, and what is, in fact, truly over. If you don’t see a fic that you love and want to know more about it, feel free to ask me.
Take Note and RSVP - every once in a while, we get asked about this story. This was my first jaunt into the fic world, and it’s unfinished. We lost our Steve writer because of some Fandom Drama (you can blame some stans who accused us of plagiarizing a fic we’d never read who continually attacked us until the stress just made it not worth the effort of finishing.)
Solar Powered Soldiers was my first solo effort. This fic, as far as I’m concerned, pretty much sucks. It was meant to be a Steve/Bucky fic, ended up with the only smut scene as a Nat/Clint piece, and didn’t really have a satisfactory ending. I am not likely to ever go back and fix this.
Steve of Oz was supposed to be mostly smutty foray into exploring Steve as the Avengers Bike. The plan was basically for him to end up having sex with literally everyone, while in a Wizard of Oz setting. Never happened, didn’t get much response to it.
Lost in the Shadows Every once in a while, I get someone who asks me about this AU. Talk about your niche markets! On the other hand, I love me some ShadowRun, so I have not closed down the idea of writing more on this AU...
So, here’s a fun thing: This particular AU is what’s been requested by my Marvel Trumps Hate winner, so, I’ll be writing a dragon-level event story for this, some 27 - 30,000 words. You ready, chummer?
The Communal Kitchen AU We have a few half-complete stories in this series; Vol 3, the Mating Habits of Hero Birds, a vague outline of a Team NuclearWinter side piece, and a couple of smut pieces that never got written. I may yank the sex pollen scene from Vol 3 out and post it as a stand-alone. We’ll see. If there’s interest in any of this, maybe we’ll come back to it. (I am currently re-reading the whole series, because honestly, I write the fic I want to read, and so I re-read my own stuff rather a lot.)
Anything involving Phil Coulson and Clint Barton - while I still ship this couple, and I’ll read stuff about them, I’ve pretty much given up writing them. Between Agents of SHIELD and everything with Clint starting in, say Age of Ultron forward, I just... don’t feel it anymore? Which does include the started and never finished Coulson’s Final Case
Next Thursday Night - huh, I’d honestly forgotten about this fic. maybe i’ll revisit it this year upcoming... somewhere I think I have an outline.
Subject to PunTax - I love puns, and this story is very formulaic. I pick a topic, make up 5-7 puns on the subject, wrap a story around it and tie a bow with a suggestive pick up line. So, I leave this open to continue, the next time I’m feeling Punny.
Bucky Barnes has Kittens - Bucky as the crazy cat lady writer with bad anxiety. I’ve had a lot of people tell me this story has been great for them, dealing with Bucky’s anxiety issues. I do have more story ideas for this ‘verse, including Bucky finding out that Steve is also a writer and dealing with that. Decidedly On the List.
Eight Arms to Hold You - I have a handful of extra stories for these. Some of them went up on Tumblr for tentacletober... generally speaking, any mermaid fic of mine is subject to a continuation because MERMAIDS and OCTOBUCKY
All American Road Trip confession time here: I stopped writing this fic because of some anti-tonys who kept popping in my comments for this fic to rant about Tony Stark in a fic that was NOT ABOUT TONY. I’ve deleted all their comments, but they were nasty, and I stopped wanting to write for people who were being so abusive to Tony (and honestly, that much bile spilling in my comments, I don’t care who it’s about, it makes me sad) Like, they liked the Fic (steve/sam/bucky) but... eeeh, whatevs. I didn’t feel like dealing with it, and I’m not going to.
Also Prey - One of my more popular pieces, I reserve the right to add more to it when I’m in a fluff mood.
Kiss me Through the Phone - I wrote this with @27dragons and I have about... half a plan for a third chapter called Your Dirty Little Secret. So, with some encouragement, that could happen.
The Truth is Who You Are - my BDSM with religious song lyrics fic; this stuff is really emotional for me, and while I do have 2-3 more pieces planned, they take me a while to write and they knock the shit out of me while I’m doing it. There’s a lot of Tony working through his self-hatred that just... it’s deep. So... there will be more, it just... might be Some Time.
The Killer and the Kid - this is literally my most popular piece. I get a MOAR PLZ ask on this at least once a month. I have been saying for a while I’m not planning any more of this, but I did offer it as an incentive for the Marvel Trumps Hate auction. This particular fic will ONLY BE WRITTEN for a charitable donation.
Joyride - I’ve written a couple of addons for this fic loosely titled Bundle of Joy. They’re not quite Done Yet, but when I get there, I’ll be posting that.
Nights in Sandbridge - our most popular series, and I love these boys so much here. We have no major plans to continue, but if something strikes us, we may.
WinterIron Pickup - a short story that spawned a second chapter. I have some ideas for continuing this, but it’s fallen by the wayside as I write other things.
What Good is the Sky - this piece is so angsty, and I keep getting requests to do moar of it. Trust me, you don’t want that, it will END BADLY. and I will cry a LOT.
Off the Menu - I really do have a LOT more of this story in my head. I just don’t know when I’m going to get around to it.
Bucky Barnes Prom CYOA this was SO HARD to format that I just gave up on it. I may come back and redo this as a few “completed” stories?
Phoning it In - I do, in fact, have a few more of this AU in mind, I just lost a bit of the shiny after an amazing fucking against the sofa smut scene. So, there might be more of this in your future (also I kept expecting it to win March Madness, so I-- didn’t get back ‘round to it?)
A Poor Reflection - never got finished. Not sure why, I had the whole damn thing plotted out. Where is my outline??
The Enhancile War Series - mostly to play with the trope of naked girl in a box, this series originally had four plotted stories, but we just could NOT get the fourth story to GO anywhere, even pushing on it really, really hard.
Any Old Music Will Do - I have a plot outline for this one, with Bucky and Tony forming the core of the Defenders, along with Luke and Jessica, but I don’t know what I did with it... anyway, there’s more ideas here. a bit.
Indispensable we had a plot idea for a sequel and I actually think we wrote about 15000 words or so on it, but-- meh, it ended up not being very interesting. If we come up with some actual plot, then maybe?
Park(s) and Wreck(ed) - I have some more ideas for this as Tony and Bucky get their sexy on all over the office.
Stark, Naked - we did, in fact, do a sequel to this, which was rather short, but well-received. Not much ideas here for anything else, but we like this version of them, so if we get good prompts, we might be tempted to take up the reigns again.
Land After Time - We get a LOT of requests for Moar of this. If we had ANY FUCKING CLUE what was going on, we might. but we really, really don’t
We Can’t Eat That (It’s Dead) - I actually have an entire plot for this, on who the dead guy is and what happened...  I could be encouraged.
Forever Home - we wrote a full length sequel to this, but weirdly enough, it WASN’T the original sequel we’d sort of talked about. which means there’s potentially a third story here... (maybe a 4th one, too)
Excuse me, I think You Have My Suitcase - the further adventures of Tony and Bucky in lacy underthings. Yes. The next time I feel like PWP, I plan to revisit.
Dead to Rights - I still really like this idea... I just didn’t get as much traction from the Umbrella Academy fandom as I would have liked. Probably because most of my writer friends are Not Into It, which doesn’t give me many people to bounce ideas off
New York: Become Human - there’s a LOT more story here to tell... maybe we’ll tell it.
Rejoice in the Sun - I started writing this fairly soon after Endgame, when I had a lot of feels, but between the absolute outpouring of hatred about that movie from the fandom. seriously, y’all were going all Annie Wilkes up in the house to the point that I put Endgame back on BLACKLIST to get away from the seething bile... it got really hard to enjoy post endgame content, and I got sick, too, so... that didn’t help any.
Once a Knight - Witch Bucky and Knight Tony... we have some more plot for this...
No Job Too Small - I think I even have another chapter of this WRITTEN. And some more plotted out. Tony and tiny children. What could go wrong?
(D)rift Away - Bigger Better Bugspray... what happens when the Rifters come back? There might be more of this, once I work out some plot. And honestly, stop getting distracted by the damn @heamarvel prompts.
The Door into Winter - I have a whole story for this, still working on it
Learning to Work Together (Good Omens) - we have some more feels for this, so possibly, if we can put plot together.
Pretty much everything else i’m posting in progress is still going strong, Blueberries, Hell Charger, Can’t Help you Fix Yourself, Reclamation, Draco Malfoy and the Rune... and I have a couple of other collabs with other people that are... bogged down with details right now.
We’ve got a couple of stories headed your way from the Marvel HEA Hallmark challenge, including what may well be my new favorite: Buck Barnes Got Married. We also wrote a Cyber Punk AU with companion Tony as an excuse to dress Tony up in skimpy outfits.
So, that’s like the general status of Old Fic... and having ideas is not the same as finding the time to sit down and WRITE them, especially since New Ideas are attacking me at the same time, honestly.

One of Fourteen Million, Six Hundred and Five Ways
This is a commissioned piece by @muggzc who asked me for The Doctor interfering with the Avengers during one of the failed scenarios that Dr Strange saw.
This is a long piece, but one I am very happy with. Just a reminder that I am open to commissions, and I believe I don’t have anything in the works either. So please feel free to message me to find out what I do! Because not even my blog holds everything.
Angst warning. Endgame Spoilers. And introducing my OC Darcy.
When he had offered me a chance to go for a trip in his TARDIS after doing a particularly elaborate dress that even Queen Victoria would have been jealous of, I couldn’t yell ‘lunch break’ at my boss and colleague quickly enough before grabbing my bag to get in. This was my third version of the Doctor to work for, but only one of the rare chances that he didn’t have a companion already with him, and when I didn’t have any rush jobs to work on. I worked as a costumer, with a specialisation in restoring clothes. Not that many people these days had the clothes to restore, but my knowledge of Victorian and Georgian styles did mean I could make the clothing accurate. Add in the popularity of period dramas and such; we were rarely out of work to do. The first version I had met spoke with a refined accent found mostly around London, dark brown hair that was usually styled into a quiff, and seemed to have more than a few companions. He was always out and about, demanding everything almost last minute and bringing back things for repairs with burn holes, bullet holes, bloodstains along with the usual rips and tears in fabrics. Then when I met the next incarnation, it blew my mind to learn that actually, he wasn’t anything like what we usually catered to. Then he began to describe my mother and grandmother and how they had been just as talented, and it must have been a family trait when he recognised my surname. The change from suits to a tweed jacket and the bow tie was surprising, but then it wasn’t as though they were the same person. Each incarnation was a new generation was akin to how the Doctor explained it, though it didn’t change how the outfits would come back to me for repairs. My boss and colleague were more than happy to let me deal with the incidents and problems that occurred with sorting out the clothing from the man, as long as there wasn’t a higher paying customer to prioritise since the Doctor had a TARDIS to time travel about with.
Then the grumpy Scotsman turned up, claiming to be the Doctor. It didn’t help that my first name had escaped his memory, though the bright pink hair I was partial to stuck in his head, and he started pointing and yelling at me the second I was seen from the back of my head. My boss was less than willing to hear him out until he started calling me a ruin and we all began to then ask questions about what work we had done in the past. His companion then appeared, and I would recognise Clara anywhere.
Not that he appreciated my demands for him to settle his account before we began any more serious work as I took measurements for them both, and then tightened my tape measure around his waist when he began to object. Clara was amused at least, and we got the money we were owed.
Something had changed, but he wasn’t one to talk about it. He was on his own, Bill was gone, Clara wasn’t there, and I wasn’t sure he wanted to go on an adventure by himself.
Landing on a military base in the 1970s America wasn’t my idea of an adventure, but the TARDIS had decided it was where we were needed. Quite literally.
I was tipped out and tripped all sorts of alarms. We were surrounded in seconds, and naturally, the TARDIS fled the scene of the crime. They couldn’t arrest us quickly enough, and then we were marched off to a holding cell, where two somewhat familiar faces were already present.
“You can join back with your buddies here, while we decide what to do with you all anyway,” the guard chuckled, highly pleased with himself as the door was locked behind us and then our cuffs were taken off.
I rubbed my wrists, the metal had dug in a little with the overly enthusiastic handling of the men while trying to convince myself that I wasn’t sharing with who I thought I was. There just wasn’t the chance of it being genuinely possible.
“So we have you two to thank for the alarms going off then?” It was a voice that made so many women swoon, as a character that just oozed power, money and control. It would have panties dropping anywhere he went, but that was his character, not the actor. “You have no idea what you’ve done.”
“Well we didn’t really get to choose where we were dropped off,” the Doctor wasn’t going to let this slide. I was trying to hide behind my hands, willing to wake up at any moment and stop my brain from exploding. This was more than a crossing of times and space, this was heading for the fantasy realms, and my reality would not allow it to be true.
“How long before the tesseract is lost to us?” The blond man stepped in, separating the other man from the Doctor, and confirmed what I knew. This was not the universe I knew for sure.
“I don’t know, the longer we’re here then, the better chances of us being stuck here instead of going back to 2019,” Stark eventually replied, glowering with ferocity at us for the disruption we’d caused.
“What’s happening in 2019 that’s so important? When is this?” The Doctor liked his questions. They always did as I dared to speak for the first time in an age.
“Thanos, he happens in 2019,” I whispered, before tilting my head back to stare at the ceiling. “Thanos makes half of the planet just disappear, and there isn’t anything anyone can do about it.”
Having the attention of three very ‘powerful’ men wasn’t something I was used to. I liked working in the back to avoid the spotlight. Then it was the usual service.
“Well, we need to get out of this cell anyway. We can’t stop anyone from in here,” the Doctor replied, throwing his arms out as though to command the situation.
“Great idea, how are we leaving then?” Tony Stark sarcastically invited the Doctor to inspect the door with a flourish of his arm. Not that the Doctor would remember about his sonic screwdriver being back in action anyway.
“If you give me a minute, then maybe we could be on our way,” this wasn’t going to end any time soon as I threw my hood up to try and hide myself from the scene. “It looks like a fairly simple lock to bust, a little bit of a twist with some wire and we should be free.”
“Only this is S.H.I.E.L.D. we are talking about; nothing would be that simple. We would be triggering an escape alarm at the very least, and possibly inviting for us to all be shot on sight,” Tony scorned.
“I don’t see you coming up with a better idea,” it was akin to watching two children as I tried to make myself a little more comfortable on the cement bench that was trying to pass as more comfortable than the floor to sit on. I was playing with the toggle of my hoodie, while Steve was watching them with a slightly amused expression on his face. But from my experience and knowledge of the man, then he was also feeling the same level of exasperation that I was as Tony was now trying to bait the Doctor into the trap.
“Why don’t you two make out if your feelings are mutual?” I finally had enough of trying to tune them out and snapped a little, sharply tugging on my cord and snapping the plastic bead off the end with the force I used. It clattered to the floor before I stood up, and began instantly frisking the Doctor’s interior coat pockets. I held up the sonic screwdriver to him with raised eyebrows. “That should be able to override the security systems, and as much as I know, the 1970s doesn’t really have any quality camera recordings.”
“I knew I had that,” the Doctor frowned, snatching the sonic back off me and tutting as he turned towards the door.
It took a few seconds, but I was confident in the screwdriver if not in the Doctor’s abilities that it was all overridden now.
“Where do we go now?” The Doctor was trying to think out loud, inviting the other men to intervene and hoping that they knew where we were more than we did.
“I forgot to memorise the map of this place,” Tony laughed. “I knew I should have paid more attention to things,” he was playing antagonist now and agitating the Doctor. And I knew that he wouldn’t just leave things be either.
I took a deep breath before barging out of the door and taking a sharp right turn. There wasn’t any way to guarantee we were getting far as my mind was already trying to replay the successful storyline over in my head. Tony and Steve would need to get the tesseract away in the briefcase and past Howard Stark and all of the security team. How they had gotten caught was puzzling, but it wasn’t going to be solved by sitting in the cell and listening to Stark and the Doctor argue. A quick glance backwards and I knew I wasn’t on my own at least; Steve must have felt something similar to be going with a complete stranger out of the cell he had been held in.
It didn’t take too long before the four of us were joined up like some band of misfits, though it was a strange thought for me to possibly be seen as dressed in the weirdest of combinations given our location and timing. The Doctor could pass as an eccentric old man, and Steve and Tony were dressed for the era. Though my mind was dangerously close to exploding at processing where we were.
“Just who are you two anyway?” Tony wouldn’t let it drop. “And more importantly, why do they all assume the four of us were together before we ended up in that cell?”
“Statistically it’s less likely that they have one group of four people breaking in than two groups of two people, so it follows some common logic to group us all together,” the Doctor rambled off as we waited in a storage room for a chance to ascertain where we were aside from just knowing it was the ‘detention level’.
“Otherwise known as ‘Hi, I’m the Doctor, and this is my current companion, Darcy’,” I smiled extra brightly over my shoulder at Stark, knowing that the Doctor certainly wasn’t in the mood to introduce us to them.
“So, how did you get here? And how did you get the alarms tripped to the point we were arrested as well?” Tony was persistent; I had to give him that.
“The TARDIS decided to tip us out, quite literally in the compound, in front of all of the soldiers, I have no idea why they assumed we would be working with you,” the Doctor wasn’t here to make friends today, apparently, as I hung my head dejectedly.
“Will you try to play nice?” I asked, tilting my head now back towards the Doctor, with a forced smile on my face. It did seem to get my message across as I began to work my way deeper into the room. People would keep all sorts in storerooms because they didn’t want to part with them, or they were too confidential to risk doing anything but burning. Not that they would handily have a bag marked ‘confidential waste’ for us, that would be far too simple and only happen in the movies.
The vents may get us a better view; it wasn’t something that tended to be alarmed yet. Even in facilities like S.H.I.E.L.D., there was still a limit to what technology was ongoing. The sound of footsteps meant the boys were silent for once; it was the only peace and quiet I was ever going to get until we got out of here and successfully completed the mission. I had the feeling that the TARDIS had dumped us here as part of the millions of scenarios that Doctor Strange had seen. I wasn’t expecting to need to use my film-watching skills to get us through anything; it was usually the Doctor taking control and making the decisions. We were all holding our breath, anyone could quickly come in here and ruin everything we had done, but we were counting on someone having our back in some deity. Even if it was just to see how far we got before we screwed it up.
I frisked the Doctor’s pockets again before he could stop me. I knew that coat as well as he did, I’d repaired it that many times, so I knew exactly where his hidden pockets were as I lifted the sonic screwdriver off him.
“Just what do you think you’re doing with that?” The Doctor was getting exasperated as I began to climb on board of a dusty old desk behind some filing cabinets.
“Getting into the vents,” I shrugged, shoving the sonic towards the screws, disabling any possibility of the system being hooked up to them already. “And I can’t see anyone else fitting into here so let me go and find out where we are and how to get out of here,” I argued, before pulling myself up into the metal ventilation system. “I would love to swear I am currently not here, and this is definitely a movie thing, but I am currently in a fricking movie!” I muttered to myself before making the decision to try the vent going in the opposite direction from where we had come from the cells. It was all worth a shot anyway.
Every chance I had to try and pinpoint us, it was all looking the same. I was overseeing desks, or boxes and filing cabinets, there was nothing distinguishable for me to see. I could be going around in squares for all I knew as I was trying to keep any noise I made to a minimum. It was hard to shuffle about quickly without raising suspicion. I heard the occasional mutterings about the venting being noisier than usual, but no one seemed to deem it a necessity to investigate at least. I was starting to feel desperation sink in; this was a top-secret military base, why would they mark anything? It was all for the need to know, and infiltrators were definitely not need to know.
“They aren’t in the cells,” a crisp voice caught my attention, coming from nearby as I crept slowly forward, panic began to set in. “So do us all a favour, and find them, now,” I caught sight of someone I definitely hadn’t been expecting to see.
Loki, in that freshly pressed and neatly kept suit. He looked authoritative; no one would want to question him, ideal for him to get onto the base without a thought. I couldn’t see who he had given the order to, a lackey of sorts but we weren’t alone in this, and Loki knew what we were doing.
I had to just forget about the part where he was a God.
That smirk, it was swoon-worthy in the cinemas, to know that it wasn’t Tom Hiddlestone playing the part and had locked his sights onto me in the ventilation system, it was terrifying as I was frozen in place. It took him seconds to break through the metal grate; I couldn’t get out of his grasp as I tried to find something to hang onto, anything to hold to stop him carrying me off like I weighed nothing to him.
“What’s this?” He was holding the sonic screwdriver alight, studying it with intrigue, before he smiled back at me. His eyes were black, they were pitless, and there was no hope in it for me. “Well then, I think you need to come with me,” I had been struck by fear keeping me still, but the thought of being carried off terrified me more.
All of my struggles did nothing for me. Loki had me hoisted over his shoulder, bound and gagged with that magic of his, and strolling away like this was normal. I knew that Loki was the God of mischief, he was able to impersonate individuals from a glance, and no one would think to question one of the top star generals. Even if he was carrying a woman about in a strange manner. All I could do was not to give up. I kept pounding my wrists into his back, flailing my legs about wildly until I nearly cracked my head on the pavement.
I couldn’t pin the other man I was facing, but I had a strong feeling that the tesseract was in the briefcase in his hands. The compound around us was intrigued momentarily; then it was almost as though we didn’t exist. Eyes would glass over us, people would walk past, and the three of us were in a one-way mirror. I would have guessed we were invisible, but I was doubtful of anyone having the ability to do that even in the Marvel Universe. But I had two sets of eyes on me, and the sonic screwdriver was in Loki’s possession.
“Intruder alert! Be on the lookout for three men and one woman who have infiltrated the base and broken from their holding cell! Assume they are armed and extremely dangerous.”
The speakers all crackled to life and set every personnel on fire. Guns were everywhere, but not one of them was pointed at me. I was already trying to think of what powers were available, and how I could shatter it, but the other man picked me up and passed the briefcase to Loki. The Asgardian God was looking so pleased with himself. I couldn’t let it end like this. Loki with the tesseract would bring about so much destruction; he had already proven that several years previously in bringing the Chitauri army through a portal made by it to New York.
Then a door bust open behind us with a loud explosion, and Chris, Tony and the Doctor were all in the centre of the chaos. It removed the magic or whatever for long enough for the three of them to lock eyes onto our position, and then the TARDIS captured the attention of the base.
I didn’t want to think about what S.H.I.E.L.D. could do with the technology of a TARDIS. I knew they were secretly Hydra, hiding out until they could gather enough power to be able to call the likes of Captain America a threat to security and freedom. The possibilities were endless. They would be able to take themselves to whenever to gather all the technology to ensure they won. The thought of that was making my stomach drop through my feet, nevermind if Loki decided he wasn’t satisfied with the sonic screwdriver.
I wouldn’t stay still, I was fighting the magic binding me together, trying to pull my wrists apart, or my ankles now that Loki had taken the leg flailing of earlier to be something to cease. I was acting out of my terrified imagination. The three of them were trying to figure out where we were until Loki just calmly walked off base without a thought. He wasn’t concerned; it was going according to his plan. He’d even gained some extra shinies, as whatever it was keeping us out of sight was dropped.
I wanted to scream; I was trying to break the gag. I didn’t know what it was made of, and I didn’t care right now. I needed the Doctor to know that Loki had the tesseract and the sonic. I didn’t want to think about how much power was at his disposal. I saw the TARDIS disappear, and that was when Loki had his interest in that old-looking wooden box.
“What was that?” He asked his ‘friend’, though it was obvious who was in charge.
“Ask her, I have no idea,” the man shook his head, gesturing wildly to me before turning to the control panels of the ship that they had commandeered.
The magic disappeared, allowing me to breathe freely, but the demanding pressure of God didn’t mean I could feel easy.
“Answer me, girl,” Loki’s tone would have frozen Australia during a heatwave. It made me stiffen without a thought. I had been in less intimidating situations with the Daleks, and I would take the thought of the Cyberman trying to make me one of their own instead of being anywhere near Loki. “I said, answer me!” His foot stamped down straight in front of me, making the floor under me vibrate, and my entire mental system was in panic mode.
I couldn’t even bring myself to look at him. I was ashamed of myself at the moment. I knew what he wanted to know, but I couldn’t even bring myself to think of replying. My mouth was dry and frozen shut, and I was shaking with fear. I focused on the ground, trying to pretend that if I couldn’t see him, then he couldn’t see me.
“You will answer me when your friends are the ones under my boot, like the tiny ants they are,” Loki sharply replied, spinning around to navigate the strange man to someplace. I was left without the gag but bound up on the floor. It was easier to tilt my hips, and fall onto my side, the pins and needles easing after I was able to straighten my legs and move them a little before rolling onto my back. If either of the men cared, it didn’t show. Not that I was sure why I would think that they would care. There wasn’t much for me to do; I didn’t know where I was or where the Doctor was. I knew the sonic screwdriver was with Loki, and I dreaded to think of the possibility that it would be passed into the hands of Thanos, along with the tesseract. The thought was terrifying, and this wasn’t my timeline or story to persevere with.
I was sharply hoisted by the back of my jacket, a gag weaving around my mouth the moment we had landed. I was being carried off the ship with no grace, and then I saw the TARDIS. Relief, the smallest of hope in me as I saw the Doctor jump out with a determination in his step I only saw when he knew he had others depending on him. Tony and Steve came out with the same expressions everyone wore after their first trip in the TARDIS, disbelief that it was that size as they both spun around to check that it hadn’t grown in size before spotting Loki with me in hand, and presumably the tesseract in the briefcase in his other hand.
“I believe you have something of mine!” The Doctor would never let anyone get away with his things. “And I need it back.”
“The girl? I can give her back straight away,” Loki laughed back, thrusting me out, so I was dangling over the edge of the structure. I had no idea where we were, but I was not safe at this height. Hitting the ground from here would kill me, and it wouldn’t be pretty. I would have seconds of terror before a sad end. “Oh? You seem to want for me to keep her alive; she did have this intriguing little gadget in her hand. I had to take that into my possession, of course, it would have been foolish to allow her to keep it when I don’t know what it does, and she won’t tell me.”
“I need her and my screwdriver back,” the Doctor was already several steps ahead of me. “It won’t work for anyone else.”
“So why did she have it then?”
The scorn in Loki’s voice was evident before I was carelessly tossed to the other man.
“Make them talk,” Loki ordered, taking the sonic out of his coat pocket to inspect the device. “I want to know what the box is, as well.”
“Why are you doing this?” I didn’t know where my voice came from, the gag shattering against all my struggles.
“Why not?” Loki’s smile was the most terrifying thing in existence. Being in such close quarters to it was only confirming that I had no idea about what fear truly was. This was no ordinary man; he was a God. “Mysterio is twisting all of your friends’ senses. They think you’re hanging off the edge, held by the throat and gasping for every breath, the second it looks like you’re about to pass out, he brings you back just to regain your consciousness before repeating it. I’m sure you’re a smart girl. I could have him do that for real.”
“Why don’t you then?”
I had no idea where this bravery was coming from. I had no inclination to die, but there had to be a reason why the other man was casting illusions instead of using me as the actual bait.
“Because I need you to keep them in one place. We are going to learn what this device is, and leave with it and the tesseract, you will be far enough away that they cannot chase us,” Loki’s plan made complete sense. “I will let you all live in exchange for the information; you could stop it right now by telling me.”
“You’re bluffing,” I croaked, trying to keep that tiniest of flames of hope inside of me. “You think that the Doctor will let you just walk away with his screwdriver?”
“I do, actually. In exchange for your life. You, humans, are so sentimental.”
“He’s not human,” I snapped, glaring at him with everything I had. “He’s a Timelord, and he will not let you get away with this.”
“I don’t know what a timelord is, nor do I care. I know he will give in to the sentiments of keeping you alive.”
“Please, I will tell you what you need to know, just don’t drop her from there,” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Loki’s expression changed to one of victory, a wide smirk at me as he opened his arms wide in triumph before a cackle began. It was the day the Doctor lost.
“That is a sonic screwdriver; it can unlock anything electrical, it can tell you anything you want to know about where you are, it can hack into virtually any system. It can deflect most powers and attacks, it can interception teleportations, it can send out its own communications, it can burn or cut most substances, disarm weapons and computers, control atoms and molecules, make a force field for protection, download a person’s consciousness and transfer it to a computer, it can do so much even I don’t know the extent of its abilities. Please, don’t drop Darcy.”
He sounded so broken; he’d needed to bow down to someone else in possession of his sonic, in lieu of a companion’s life.
“Only if we are walking away from here with the sonic screwdriver, and the tesseract,” Mysterio finally made a declaration. I could see it was pushing him to keep going with the maintaining of the illusion. Loki had kept me close enough that all I would need is a shove off the building, and I would be plummeting to my death.
“No, the tesseract-” I forgot that Steve and Tony were with the Doctor.
“This is not up for negotiation. Are you willing to bet her life over this? Could you do that?” Loki was enjoying himself, basking in the glory of the moment as my tears couldn’t stop falling down my cheeks.
“Yes, please, don’t hurt her,” the Doctor was desperate, all over me. I had caused this.
The illusion was dropped, and I had to watch Mysterio and Loki just walk away, my binds still holding me together as the three men dashed back into the TARDIS. There wouldn’t be enough time to stop them, as the stolen vessel began to take off, and threw the blue box out of its intended stopping point. It was on its side and shattered into a million pieces, the Doctor, Steve and Tony all realising the same thing as they picked themselves out of the wreckage.
Maybe this was one of the scenarios where Thanos wins.

I just had the BEST MCU Crossover Fanfic Idea ever :D
Ok so I was looking around on pinterest and was looking at a bunch of MCU fanart of IronStrange, then supreme family and then it snowballed from there. So I end up coming across a bunch of crossover fanart of all kinds which included another OTP of mine, Spidypool (and not with MCU spidy ok ew).
I saw BBC Sherlock and Dr.Strange, Spiderverse plus Deadpool, Tony and Bruce [IronDad & BatDad], Ant-man and Night at the Museum, Tony and RDJ Sherlock, Wonder Woman and Thor, etc.
Lots of crossovers as you can see.
So considering that in canon alternate dimensions/timelines are an actual thing I had the idea what if all these characters actually meet. Like it would be a slice of life thing focused on fluff, humor and drama. Maybe a lil angst considering I'm having it be after endgame with Tony having lived but him never having gotten together with Pepper after Civil War (so no morgan) and instead gets together with Stephen after Endgame (OTP IronStrange <3) with supreme fam [peter, harley & lil sis] and has it to where some people keep accidentally traveling dimensions or coming to theirs.
Could possibly consequence from the time-traveling Idk or just people screwing around with shit they shouldn't or accidents all accidents lol. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If anyone takes this up they are definitely gonna have to do a ton of research or have been in all these fandoms cause wow so many characters. I have decided to write these in parts based on fandom. Although the story doesn’t have to be written in arcs since it’d probably be better as connected one shots instead.
1) Spider-verse Portion (Humor & Romance)
Starts off with Miles accidentally getting taken to the MCU dimension while trying to travel to Peter B's using a device made by Peni and ends up meeting MCU Peter. Device either is busted or malfunctions so Peter takes it and Miles to Tony for help to see if he can fix [he tries but can't which he's mad about].
So Tony ends up having to call in Stephen to help which gets them bickering while Stephen looks for ways to send Miles back to his home with Tony still trying to fix the gadget. Miles ends up asking Peter if they're together which Peter says no but that they have so much UST that they might as well be together. Miles sympathizes and tells him about his Spidy Mentor also doing the same with his partner Deadpool, who had when first meeting Miles, promptly said he is his and Peter's new adopted son/nephew.
Then Peter and Miles get into a few shenanigans trying to get Tony and Stephen together after Peter asked for his help (they include the cloak too). After which Miles gets sent back, Peter goes home to tell Ned about his latest adventure and Tony & Stephen schedule a date after finding out about each others pining curtesy of 2 spider kids and cloak.
Inspiration X  X
2) Hero Dads (With Fluff & Angst)
Tony after awhile gets the device that Miles left behind to work. Although not enough to send a person through yet, but he can send a couple machines he made that he can connect to even across dimensions (may have had a little help from Stephen).
Ends up using them to connect to the other dimensions internet to see how different they are and he first tests it in the DCverse and sees all these other heroes just like the avengers. Finds out about Batman being a billionaire (and dad) like him after using his awesome hacking skills to find out who Batman is and his fellow heroes. Ends up later messaging the man after Tony ends up being confronted by the realization he was the adopted dad of a bunch of kids (Peter, Harley + sis, Riri, Vision, FRIDAY, bots) queue inner crisis.
Bruce is at first suspicious but then later amused after talking and messaging with Tony as they both bond over their kids. Both sharing stories, pictures, and videos about their kids then later their lives and how similar they are. They become inter dimensional pen pals and complain to each other about their fellow heroes too.
Could be spaced out into one-shot chapters about certain topics. Like kids, childhood, their hero coworkers, maybe love lives hmmm.
[Ok I just finished reading some Tony & Bruce fanfic and yes I now have another fav Brotp that involves Tony. It can be added with the Science Bros(Tony & Bruce.B), Iron Bros(Tony & Rhodey), and Snarky Bros(Tony & Loki)]
3)BBC Sherlock (Romance Drama & Humor)
While working on the device with Stephen besides him Tony gets visited by Everett Ross and T'Challa for 'reasons'. But something happens that causes it to malfunction for a bit and transport all those in the room to another dimension.
They end up coming across BBC Sherlock and Watson who Strange asks if they can stay with for a bit since the group have no place to stay until Strange can get a message to Wong to help them back. Queue lots of shenanigans with alternate selves with boyfriend(s?) nearby [not sure about having everpanther or no].
Tony definitely flirts a little with Sherlock causing Strange to be mildly jealous and even more so when Sherlock finds some interest in Tony for how smart he is. Maybe during the stay they help solve a crime and apprehend the suspects. With Everett showing his awesome agent skills, Tony his god level hacking, T'Challa his hand to hand no suit, and Stephen his magic.
Sherlock and Watson are totally shocked and fascinated about them. Before they return to they dimension Tony leaves a device like the one he sent to DC so that they can communicate if they ever want to.
ADD-ON: Maybe have Sherlock and Watson visit the MCUverse at some point and have them get into an adventure with Strange and Ross. Lots of magic and gun fights abound poor Sherlock and Watson too much chaos in this universe. lol
Inspiration X  X
4)RDJ Sherlock
Tony finally gets the device to work complete and begs Stephen to go with him to test it out just in case it can't do a return trip. Stephen reluctantly agrees and Tony ask him to look for a dimension that has a look alike of him since last time they meet one of Stephen's.
So Stephen decides to be cheeky and takes him to the one where now Tony's look alike is Sherlock. Tony finds this hilarious and gets along with him while Stephen regrets his decision cause he wanted to get payback for the flirting last time but that didn't work. Queue Tony and Sherlock getting into shenanigans while Stephen and Watson try to rein them in (and falling). They then use the device to return home after maybe solving a crime or two with Sherlock.
5) Night at the Museum (Humor)
After hearing about the alternate dimensional shenanigans Tony, Peter and others have been going on. Scott is quite curious and asks Peter to ask about his own counterpart and so Peter offers to see about look into it with the help of Miles (they have been keeping in touch through Tony's devices).
After the talk they go looking to for a dimension but end up accidentally activating the transportation function which takes Scott, Cassie and Peter to the Night at the Museum dimension. There they end up meeting Larry and his son who had come to visit the museum and get talking.
Larry decides to show Scott and others what happens after dark in the museum with the help of Tilly and Mr. McPhee. Considering that Peter was able to send a message to Tony about what happen and when they can come back they were okay to stay a night before leaving.
Inspiration X
6)Thor's Foodie Friend (slice of life & fluff)
At some point Thor ends up interrupting Tony while he was talking with Bruce and gets introduced to his fellow billionaire/hero. Bruce then ends up mentioning Diana aka Wonder Woman after remembering what Tony said about the God and how similar the two are. Thor is intrigued and wishes to meet her and so Tony let's him borrow a second device he made after Bruce gives Wonder Woman another device that Tony made to pair with Thor's. They end up being buddies like Tony and Bruce and talk about all the weird cultural stuff they have learned and still are after living on earth.
Don't have much ideas for this one since I don't know much of Thor or Diana ^_^;
7) MCU Actors (Humor, Drama, Angst, Fluff & Romance just every thing   >.<)
This is Tony just screwing around with the device until he ends up stumbling across a dimension where there are no heroes at all and everyone he knows are actors instead (essentially its like Supernatural but with MCU instead). He starts looking through their internet cause his interest is peak which is where he finds out that in that dimension his and everyone's lives are movies and comics.
Which he finds both disturbing and yet awesome at the same time although he finds its not completely the same considering the ending and who he ended up with. (Later learns its based on the main dimension that their world branched off of. He's so glad they aren't the main one.)
This could then have one-shots about multiple characters seeing all the fandom stuff they have based off them in this other world. You know conventions, cosplay, AMVs, fanfiction etc. Possible have some kind of viewing night to see stuff with everyone together. Maybe at some point they get the smart (dumb) idea to travel to that world to talk to their actor counterparts. [Those being Tony, Loki, Stephen, Steve, Bucky, Thor, Peter and who ever is a fun idea to write] Maybe even attend an actual convention in that dimension by replacing their actor selves for fun and also bring those conventions back as ways for good PR who knows.
[God so many interesting ideas I have that I’ll never write ugh]
And that’s all I got for this mass crossover fic that kicked me over the head and wouldn’t leave me until I wrote it out phew~
Anyone interested or wanting to write this can just message a link or add it onto this post I want to read them. :D

Wait Endgame is your second favorite? That's surprising! No judgement though, but now I want to know how you rank all of them
Oh goodness… that is TWENTY-THREE MOVIES to rank! That’s hard! This might get very jumbly at around the midway point…
1) Iron Man 3 - Everything about it is so perfect. The Iron Fam being chaotic but also 100% supportive of each other? Tony being the first superhero in history to deal with mental disorders blatantly!!! onscreen!!! The action is top notch. The final battle needs to be taught in film school because it’s literally a metaphor for Tony’s main personal theme of feeling like he’s nothing without his armor, but then at the end he’s able to leap from one to the other because it’s not the armor itself that makes him powerful, it’s that he has the powerbravery/will to leap from one to the other.
2) Avengers: Endgame - Y’all are looking at it wrong. Pretend the Infinity Saga is a TV show and it just ended, and now the rest of the MCU is a spinoff show featuring some of the newer/recently introduced characters, but without the core group of the original show.Suddenly the most important characters getting to leave with a bang isn’t as frustrating. But I also love it because it got my two favorite characters so beautifully right! Tony and Natasha, because they are the two who are deemed worthy enough to be turned into the big talking points of the movies, got to end their TV show finale with a huge glorious heroic sacrifice that will make them remembered forever! The time travel is also REALLY clever. And this is coming from someone who has watched a LOT of time travel shows/movies. There is literally only one movie I’ve ever seen that handled time travel better, and that was Arrival. They did away with the time travel paradox by having every past even just create an alternate timeline. And really? They only asked for suspension of disbelief in service of a joke that was not even that funny and I sort of hated and because they wanted the old Steve scene to have a particular emotional resonance, and having him come back through the portal old… wouldn’t have done that.
3) Iron Man - I firmly believe that this is the best movie in the entirety of the MCU. It was the first, and yet it has never been topped. (and yet it’s #3 on my list rofl)It gave us a very complex lead character with a supporting cast that had a lot more depth in their first outing than some of the OG6 had after four movies (*cough*Clint*cough*Thor*cough* - Thor only got good development after Ragnarok). There was also subtlety to the story that it seems hollywood writers in general (and MCU specifically) is incapable of anymore.
4) The Avengers - the very first time in history we get a massive teamup of superheroes? sign me the FUCK up!Loki was a fantastic villain, the characterization of all of them (except for Clint… sorry, pal) was absolutely amazing, and it’s just pure unadulterated fun. Not much more to say than that.
5) Black Panther - Live Action Lion King (2019) WHOMST? There was a live action Lion King in 2018 and it was called Black Panther!I have a few issues with it fuck YOU vibranium! but it’s SUCH a good movie. T’Challa is quite possibly the noblest MCU character/lead, and the supporting cast are all incredible. I also loved the idea that the villain was… actually… right? Oh he was wrong a FUCK in deciding that the way to go about getting it was through violence, but his end goal was correct.Which is actually very subtle (and again… one of the very few MCU movies to do that) and very important message - because so often people seem to think that violence is the answer. Because the cause is “right” and “just”, excessive violence or threats of violence are considered the proper course of action. But as Killmonger proved, that wasn’t the way. Instead we all need to be like Nakia - who wanted the same thing, but worked for it through kindness, sacrificing her own desires, and making the first tiny hole in the dam.
6) Captain America: The Winter Soldier - I firmly hold that this is one of the most overrated MCU movies, and it’s what started Steve Rogers down his path to… the character he ended up becoming… but it is an excellent movie!Natasha gets amazing development, Sam Wilson is better in this movie than he has been since, and the emotional stakes are very high and very well thought out. Also I’m sorry but the bold political statement of “nazis torturing people is bad” is… not all that subtle? or bold? I don’t know why people are saying that this is the movie that addresses difficult political questions because… it doesn’t?
7) Spiderman: Far From Home - I’m sorry y’all, but I love my boy Peter Parker and if you don’t like this movie then I might just fight you.It was a terrific followup to Endgame, and Peter’s trauma was dealt with in a very realistic and unbearably painful way. Mysterio was the perfect villain for Peter to face, because he forces him to confront his trauma… even though he forces it by first torturing Peter with it, but Peter is forced to find a way to cope with his fears, his grief, and his feelings of inadequacy. Also Peter/MJ is the literal cutest and I love them so much.
8) Avengers: Infinity War - ngl this was a VERY tough battle between this and FFH, but FFH won by just a hair.Thanos is the greatest villain of our generation, quite possibly of the past 2-3 generations. The characters they chose to pair up together worked extremely well - I didn’t know how much I needed the Thor/tree/rabbit teamup until it happened. And then that ending… never before has the world held its breath together in such shared anguish as when we watched Spiderman all the characters we love so much fade away into dust. And there was a great cry in all  the world, such as never has been or ever shall be again!
9) Captain America: The First Avenger - Steve Rogers has never been better than he was in this film. Unfortunately it was all downhill after that, but it’s because of this film that he was my second favorite character for a good five years. There is a gentleness to this Steve that is utterly lacking starting in The Winter Soldier, where he becomes this machismo who obsesses far too much over anything he has one (1) emotion about because he doesn’t know how to handle it.This Steve Rogers is emotionally very intelligent, and is genuinely willing to do whatever it takes to do what is right. And I will say, I can understand why he made the decision he made in Endgame, because Peggy is such a brilliant and dynamic and interesting person, I don’t think anybody could have resisted staying with her (if she agreed to have him). @Marvel please bring back Agent Carter, because I need more Peggy.
10) Captain America: Civil War - This movie did a lot of studio mandated things, and because of that was weaker than it might have been, but I hold that it is a very good and very solid movie. Unfortunately, a big fault of the movie is that I don’t think Chris Evans believed in what he was performing, and so couldn’t give it the complexity that it needed (particularly as the Russo’s take input of their cast into consideration when making their movies… actors get to choose a lot of their own character beats unless it’s a plot-mandated beat). And unfortunately, Steve Rogers suffered for this.If The Winter Soldier is the one where he began obsessing over anything that gave him one (1) emotion, this is the movie where that tendency grew two extra heads and turned into a monster. Steve sees this argument the way a soldier who is used to following orders during wartime would, whereas Tony sees this argument the way a strategist during peacetime might. Steve thinks Tony is “trying to win a war before it starts”, while Tony thinks he’s deescalating rising tensions. And unfortunately, Steve is too blinded by his one (1) emotion to see the complexities in the situation.Which, while it frustrates me how poorly this movie did Steve’s personality, those dynamics are very interesting to watch play out onscreen. Plus, the dialogue is sharp and witty, and the emotional beats - particularly everything that has to do with Tony, is some of the most beautifully written and performed drama I’ve seen in a while.
11) Spiderman: Homecoming - This movie did such a good job of giving us a teenaged Peter Parker. All the other movies, Peter didn’t feel like a teenager. He felt like a grownup. This Pete is definitely a teenager - he’s a young kid in a big world trying to be a superhero, and because of that trying to take on problems that he is not experienced enough to take on.The journey he takes on this movie is to learn just exactly that, and by the end he probably is experienced enough now  to take on those bigger threats, but he makes the mature decision not to do that quite yet - proving exactly the kind of man he will eventually grow up to be.
12) Thor: Ragnarok - Finally Thor gets developed. Hemsworth really shows off his acting chops in this movie. He’s always been very charming as Thor, but this is the movie where we learned that he’s not just charming, but also a very talented actor. I personally found some of the clumsiness/slapstick around his character a bit much, but Hemsworth performed it perfectly. This is a movie where the story doesn’t actually matter. Honestly… who even remembers the story? The important thing about this movie are the characters, and they are all done incredibly well, except possibly Loki, and even he got some good development at the very end of it. Thor is finally an interesting character, Hela is an amazing villain, Bruce got some fun development, and Valkyrie should have been introduced five movies ago (@Marvel give me a Valkyrie movie! Why the FUCK are we reportedly getting Thor 4 when you could have had Thor stay behind as king of Asgard and giving Val her own  movie instead? Especially since all of Thor’s important relationships are dead or in the gotg movie, so he has nowhere to move on to! If we don’t have good characters/dynamics, Thor 4 will suck! It will also suck because the heart of his movies have been his relationship with his brother, and that’s gone now).
13/14) Ant Man and the Wasp/Ant Man - Honestly these movies can just be grouped together, because they’re very very similar, and all I would have to say about one I’d say about the other.
The Antman movies are very light hearted and comical, and the important thing here (like Ragnarok) is not the story, but the characters. The family relationships explored here honestly feel like real families - they just happen to live in a world with superheroes. I think AMaTW is the better of the two, but only by a little bit.
15) Iron Man 2 - This is another movie that was made lesser than it could have been due to executive meddling. Honestly, if you re-cut the movie and just take out all of Coulson’s scenes it becomes a much better movie (and would have gone higher on the list). As it is, Coulson dumps expositional world building that doesn’t really work in the context of the movie. What does work is the chaotic-yet-supportive Iron Fam (once again), and the introduction of Black Widow. I think Natasha might have had the best introduction in the MCU, because the audience was who she was fooling. Her job is to manipulate people and fool them into thinking she’s what she wants us to think she is, and only reveals the truth when she’s ready for it. And that is exactly how we were introduced to her. The underlying plot of Tony struggling with his imminent death was also incredibly well done. He wanted so desperately to not be dying, but there wasn’t anything that he could do. And when he ran out of options, he behaved in such a way to make things worse for him (health wise), because nothing was worse than sitting back and waiting for death to come. Better for it to come quickly and for the agony of just waiting for it to pass. Unfortunately Coulson takes away some of the gravitas of that by forgetting Tony was dying and threatening to taze him…All in all, a weak story but fleshed out by some of the best characters the MCU has ever created and introduced.
16) Doctor Strange - A decent movie with decent characters. There is nothing particularly memorable about it, but also nothing particularly bad about it either (beyond casting a non-Asian actress as the Ancient One).
17) Thor - Sort of like Doctor Strange, a decent movie with a charming lead but mostly terrible supporting cast. I will hold that none of the human characters are actually very good. At all. The best thing Ragnarok did was drop them all like the movie ruining load that they are.Once again, Loki is a good villain and an interesting character, and while Thor is underdeveloped he’s incredibly charming and likable in spite of that.
18) Captain Marvel - Yes I am a woman. Yes I disliked Captain Marvel. Can we move on from that please. If Thor is a decent movie with a charming lead, Captain Marvel is a decent movie with a terrible lead. I do not find Carol to be particularly interesting, and will hold that Brie Larson was incredibly miscast in the role. (if you want to hear why, you can peruse this). In general, it’s also a movie that relies a little bit too much on 90s nostalgia, and as somebody who personally hates when a movie relies on nostalgia to be considered “good”, all of that rubbed me the wrong way. The same applies to Ragnarok tbh, but I didn’t mention it up there because I wanted to rant about wanting a Valkyrie movie. (@Marvel please)Unfortunately, this movie is also not one bit subtle with it’s message. And as a woman, I do not relate to a woman whose only personality trait is “stand up to men”. Every other female character in the MCU is quite capable of standing up to men, and they all have a lot of character outside of that. And I will stop there because even saying that much risks me getting blocked right off of this hellsite…
19) Guardians of the Galaxy - I am definitely in the minority for this one, but I never liked this movie. If the 90s nostalgia in Captain Marvel rubbed me the wrong way, the 80s nostalgia in this movie was rubbing me the wrong way. with sandpaper. But my biggest problem with this movie is that Quill is not interesting enough (in my opinion) to be the central character. These characters all feel like sidekicks, and without a strong central lead for them to be sidekicks to, everything just feels very underdeveloped. I also find the humor in these movies to be very cheap and childish. However, I love that the team very much became a family. I believe in their relationships with each other even if each person as an individual character feels very weak.
20) Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - If you took GOTG1 and flipped it on it’s head, you’d get GOTG2. This is quite possibly the worst MCU movie ever, except that… somehow… it has some of the most heartfelt and meaningful emotional beats out of all of them.I felt every single emotional beat, and the fact that the characters were all sidekicks… actually worked well for this movie. They didn’t need to be more than sidekicks, because the “kick” part of sidekick stands for “kick ass”.However, the story was atrociously bad, and one of the worst the MCU has ever done, which is why it’s below GOTG1. But only slightly.
21) The Incredible Hulk - Does anybody even remember this movie? It was boring, uneventful, had the wrong guy playing Bruce Banner, and was just poorly written throughout.
22) Thor: The Dark World - This movie is a boring, dreary, horribly written, badly directed mess. Some of the stuff up on Asgard was decent except for the fact that they fridged Frigga for no goddamn reason, and everything that happened on earth was goddamn awful, verging on embarrassing. And don’t even get me started on the dark elves. They were rightfully dropped from the MCU and never mentioned again because they are just That. Bad.
23) The Avengers: Age of Ultron - the movie where Joss Whedon fucked up Natasha’s backstory for the sake of his self-insert ship, infantilized Wanda Maximoff by insisting the woman with cleverly displayed cleavage who was clearly in her 20s was actually only 15, did not solidify the team as a family (THIS IS THE MOVIE WHERE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN GODDAMMIT), and disrespected literally every movie that came before (including his own goddamn flick).Wow I just realized that most of the awful shit he did was done to the female characters. Can you believe this disgusting asshole has the audacity to call himself a feminist? Fucking disgraceful…Fuck Whedon. He doesn’t deserve to come within a thousand yards of a woman.

endgame opinions
spoilers under the cut. i’ve opened my dms so feel free to come and scream/yell/cry/whatever with me. this turned out really long because i start speculating half way through as well as talking about opinions.
let’s start with harley keener, my son, who was literally only in the movie for a second, at the fucking funeral. are you kidding me. and a lot of people don’t know what ty simpkins looks like now?? so even my friend didn’t know who he was until i started physically vibrating in my seat
HOWEVER, he and peter are in the same location, which totally opens up a plausible reason for them to know each other, become best friends/brothers/roommates at MIT
it’s sad that it was just him standing alone though, like no one stood with him, like his mother or anyone. that’s sad.
i wrote a harley keener infinity war fic so like,, feel free to read that to get the harley keener endgame feelings we DESERVE
aNYWAY, good film
i enjoyed it a lot for the most part, like i have so few complaints its unreal
it’s a genuinely funny film that didn’t feel like it was shoehorning in comedic relief, but like the movie was SUPPOSED to be lighter and funnier and drama was happening in between
i didn’t care for the ending in the slightest fuck that
i’m pissed about being lied to by the directors about a canon gay character. they sat up there on their high horses, congratulating themselves for a job well done for diversity, when it was just a fucking extra with no name, referring to a male partner twice. that’s it. you’re fucking kidding me if you think that’s diversity, if the russos truly think that was worth getting our hopes up for.
you know who could’ve been confirmed lgbt? valkyrie. steve. bucky. tony. (and no, tony appreciating steve’s ass doesn’t confirm our bi father, son and holy spirit on screen, unfortunately.)
that’s a fucking joke, russos. i hope they’re fucking ashamed of that.
(i really was watching that final bucky/steve scene and hoping for some hint of, it was always you, you know and got fucking nothing. i barely even ship stucky and i know that it should’ve been them)
the clint/natasha fight on vormir was the best scene, hands down. there’s no competition here. it was the best moment of the film, and despite my annoyance at the russos seeing that the audience didn’t appreciate gamora dying to further a man’s arc, and then fucking doing it again, i really did like that scene
i figured nat was gonna die but i didn’t think i’d actually be sad about it
as soon as they said they were going to vormir i knew the fight would happen and it lived up to every expectation and some
the barton home cold open was fantastic
why the ever loving FUCK was carol danvers so forcefully advertised to us?????? why were we told over and over and over that carol was gonna kill thanos, that she was gonna save the day, that the avengers literally had zero chance without her????? she had four minutes of screentime what the fuck
i appreciate her and peter’s interaction though that was cute and he was wrecked
the peter/tony reunion was cute af, glad they finally got their hug
also, i always wanted peter to call him tony but like that???? nah
side note, don’t remember in the slightest what rhodey and peter said as tony died because i was sitting there going, he’s not actually gonna die, obviously, that’s not gonna happen, they’re gonna make us think he will and then he’ll come back so i missed both their goodbyes
i know it was a 3 hour film but there was space for... more. there should’ve been more. where was rocket and groot’s reunion? where was bucky and steve’s?
where did valkyrie get a fucking pegasus from
bruce and hulk’s new system is hilarious but the fact that he dabbed pains me
bruce wielding the gauntlet was so incredibly left field i loved it, like no one guessed that he’d be the one to bring everyone back. no one
scott did great
i’m not sure if i can settle myself with this five year time jump for a whole host of reasons
1. do we have, officially, a new cassie lang actress? is our iconic abby ryder fortson leaving us for an older actress???
2. far from home takes place, supposedly, a week after endgame. it was one of the reasons i believed tony wouldn’t die, because it seems like a wholly upbeat film - and y’all saw his face at the funeral, he was fucking gone - and it’s even been confirmed to be lighter and funnier, so there better be some fucking low blow that takes peter out on the tony front (but did the writers/directors even know tony had died when they made the film? will it be ignored altogether?) back to the main point:
2a. it’s around the year 2023 and as soon as the entire world comes back, there’s a two week field trip to europe that peter and all his classmates have somehow paid for, signed permission slips for, and arranged, despite the fact that they’ve all been dead for five years. and i mean all. literally the entire main cast of spiderman is still in peter’s class, they haven’t grown up and moved on. the entire fucking cast got dusted.
3. we didn’t really get to see tony and steve make up??? they kinda just brushed over everything
i almost cried seeing ned leeds and peter reunite
okay now the biggies:
i’m Not Okay with tony stark dying
i’m not
it’s not just that he’s my favourite character and i care about him above all others, it’s that his entire arc has been about first, accountability, and second, leaving the fight. yes, it’s also got a lot of heart motifs and mentions of sacrifice too. i understand that. but tony has been wrestling with his father’s legacy and the kind of father he’ll be since day one.
he deserved his happy ending.
not just five years. not just a daughter who will know OF him but not know him, who’ll forget the short time of memories she has in due course. he deserved to grow old with his daughter and his wife and the kid whose photo he placed on the shelf in the kitchen, where he could see it every day.
he does deserve rest. but he deserves the kind of rest where he’s alive.
i have said before that if tony stark dies, i stop watching the mcu, and tbh, might actually go through with it. i don’t know if i really want to watch the films, knowing he’s gone? (and that they could’ve used either the time stone, or, you know, their time travel machine, to go two weeks back, grab that tony and bring him into the present. say, hey, you died, but now you can keep living.)
and steve.
oh steve.
i love steve rogers, i do. i absolutely adore steve rogers. but i’m about the same level of angry about his ending as i am about tony’s.
and honestly? it’s only because it’s not him. it’s not the him we know. my friend said that cap went and settled down because he’d finally learnt the lesson tony had been teaching; that maybe there is a reason to set down the shield and live a quiet, good life. but i don’t like it. it opens time anomalies, inconsistencies. it doesn’t feel like him.
since cap came into the 21st century, his story line has had a motif of moving on. about getting with the times, learning new music, new references, finding old friends and having to decide whether he should hold onto them and risk what he has now, or let them go. he’s been staring at a photo of peggy carter since 2011, he made peace with her life when he visited her in hospital, he let her go when she died. he watched her, through her office window, be director of shield, knowing she was about to have a life that she loved. she has children, a family.
it doesn’t feel like the steve rogers i know to take that away from her
but at the same time, i understand that sometimes, he should get to be a little selfish. he was selfish when it came to protecting bucky over all else, and it ended with mixed results.
i loved the final scene, of he and peggy dancing and kissing, but i think i would’ve loved that scene just as much, if not more, if it had happened in the afterlife. with an about time from peggy.
on the same subject: bucky and sam.
i’m super happy with sam being the next captain america (does this mean we’ve been lied to about the whole falcon and winter soldier tv show? is it actually a captain america and winter soldier show?)
i think bucky knew what steve’s plans were, though it would’ve been nice to have some on-screen confirmation. i think that’s why he seemed relieved that steve was sitting on the bench; he knew what steve was going to do and was glad he’d lived long enough to pass the torch once and for all
HOWEVER, the time anomalies i mentioned:
peggy carter’s established timeline is broken
does sharon carter exist? if yes, does this timeline’s steve rogers still make out with her
if steve goes into the past, the steve that he already was and his whole existence in the 21st century will still happen. that means he’ll look for peggy. that means he’ll find her. with him. in the future/present. steve is therefore made aware of the future - would that then effect how he acts with civil war/infinity war etc? would that then erase the events that happened, limiting steve from going back?
does he tell anyone that hydra is in shield
does he get bucky the fuck out of hydra or does he let his best friend be tortured for 70 years
i think bucky should’ve been a part of the sam/captain america torch conversation. if only because steve’s narrative has focused around bucky since 2011 and it ends with a don’t do anything stupid while i’m gone / you’re taking all the stupid with you - that’s not a satisfactory ending lads
much of me thinks steve and tony’s outcomes should’ve been switched. tony wants a quiet life, steve has said many times that he can’t imagine giving up the fight, living as a civilian in obscurity. i think it’s a cruel way to end it.
plus steve is ALWAYS the one making speeches about sacrifice, but he’s never the one to actually make the sacrifice. it’s always tony.
i’m happy for steve, i am.
i think i’d just be happier if morgan could grow up with her father and if pepper wasn’t a single parent and peter didn’t have to navigate the rest of his life - super powered and not - alone
side note, far from home taking place a week after endgame: nick fury wasted no fucking time jumping on spiderman. like, tony absolutely protected him from fury before infinity war, and the dude’s barely buried and fury’s making his move on peter - not cool
anyway, i genuinely did enjoy the film. i find it incredibly difficult to believe this was shot immediately after infinity war because the tone is so different, and i was remembering all those photos we had from reshoots and realised none of those scenes made it in the final cut.
it was a good film. probably the most emotionally mature of the mcu. not my favourite. i’m angry about the ending. nebula should’ve killed thanos at least once. cool that gamora’s back. sad about nat. devastated about tony. happy for steve on the surface, until i spend 2 seconds looking deeper. loki’s probably alive because the timeline changed and they replaced the tesseract in 1970, not 2012, so officially, loki never goes to asgard jail anymore
but for real: how does steve replace the tesseract in the past when it’s now the space stone? how does he get that past anyone at all?
edit: I SOMEHOW forgot about rescue, the moment i’ve been waiting for for a decade
i love her, i love the suit, i love the pepper was incredibly badass with it with zero hesitation. i wish someone had said the name rescue like i wish someone had said captain marvel - but no dice. it’s such a rad suit and seeing her and tony fight side by side was so cool
edit 2 bc im a dumbass: CLINT MY ARROW BOY I LOVE YOU, YOU GOT ALL THE SCREENTIME U FUCKIN DESERVED

hey there. I totally get your frustration with endgame and the ending. I wasn't happy and I'm not happy how half the fandom tells me/us how we have to look at it. how we have to accept it. how the actors are happy with it and so should we. how the writers/producers - okay, I'm gonna leave them out of this seeing neither of them have any idea what they have done in the first place. after all they disagree on everything in every interview since the release. and isn't that funny? (1/?)
how even they are not on one side with the movie? what I despise most right now when it comes to this movie and this fandom is how we are treated. how we should tag our “hate” - which I think is funny since I didn’t hate the movie entirely. I hated pieces of it, like I did with past movies. I never liked doctor strange and even back then people were allowed to mention how casting cumberbatch for the part wasn’t the smartest idea they had. (2/?)
people want us to be happy with an ending that doesn’t make sense to us and they appreciate and are “allowed” to shove down our throats with their happy posts about a perfect ending. how is taking tony’s life after he finally married pepper and got a daughter is perfect? how is sending steve back to peggy after they did everything in their power to convince us he moved on from his past life…how is that perfect? (3/?)
you can probably tell I’m bitter. I really am. there’s not a day that goes by I’m not frustrated with what we got after ten years and 22 movies. however, I thought to myself what would it give me to cling on to this on my blog. would it change anything? I do know I’m not alone. I see so many people agreeing with this anger and it gives me some sort of peace. at the end of the day, though, it’s also important to see what it gives to you. (4/?)
talking to one of my closest friends about it and voicing my frustration with the end helps me more than keep posting about it. because in the end it won’t change a thing. the longer I surround myself with the frustration and anger and everything that comes with this not being what I had hoped for the more it pushes me from the fandom. of course everyone do as they please and I get people who want to get it out of their system. (5/?)
but maybe sitting down and look at what the constant repeating will give you in the end, realizing where it might end, could help finding some kind of peace for you. I’d hope for you to enjoy the parts of the fandom that still apply to you. I really like your blog and you as a person and I’d hate to see one of my fave people on this site to leave (I lost count, but this is the last)
whew! hi right back, that was quite something.
i feel ive answered this ask before, was that also you?
i mean, yeah. i know im not alone, i do. i see some of it on my dash, but not a lot, since ive had to block every marvel related tag just to keep from indulging in some light murder (just gentle ones, not to worry), and i really cannot fathom why ppl on the other side of the isle can’t do the same? or if you’re getting tired of the negativity? blacklist. or unfollow, block even.
as ive said a few times lately, ive been here 6 years. and this is the first time ive aired my frustration in any noticeable way. sure there’s been a few occasions where i got the salt shaker out, but that was in relation to much more limited subjects, and it was a post or two at the most.
ive been frustrated with previous movies too, but ive kept my trap shut, ive just gone on, kept my queue stocked, giffed the rare set and hid behind pretty solid content, no drama, not personality, no engagement.
and it’s not too bad, to just be anonymous, to look at the pretty, spread the pretty, do the occasional tag rant, and let that be it.
but.
when i came back after a long hiatus last autumn i started writing again. i posted a psa where i apologised for the fact that i would reblog my writing on this blog, i informed what tags i was gonna use, and for the first time i actually checked my follower count before and after. i lost 20 followers the first day. for posting writing. my writing. that was tagged to a ridiculous degree. and i saw a fair few more disappear before the exodus, and idk. i made me realise a thing or two.
one, people like my blog and the content i post
two, they’re only here for that content
three, to have a strictly themed blog will limit you horribly
four, my followers in general don’t give a shit about me, only about the content i post, which fair enough
five, i care about that, even if i don’t care about the follower count as such, i do care that the ones i have actually like me
six, which is completely absurd bc none of them knows me at all, i never show myself
but that was then. this is now. and the last weeks has made me realise the most important thing of all, i dont care any more. why the fuck should i? when my showing any kind of negativity about something that i did care a whole lot about but i no longer have?
endgame might have killed all my enthusiasm for the mcu, and it fucking hurts. it’s been a staple in my life for years, ive invested my time, my creativity, my love and my goddamn money, and ive got jack shit to show for it. i have a blog that i used to love, but is becoming alien to me, and that hurts too. ive invested a lot in this blog too, after i deleted a few of my other blogs a couple of years back, this is by far my biggest one. and im torn tbh.
do i want to leave it? no, i don’t. can i go back? honestly? i doubt it. if my love for the mcu is gone, well so is bucky. and lets be real, a sebastian stan blog with no bucky? i cannot really see it, can you?
but hey. ill make you a deal, all of you. ill ease up on the memes, i won’t stop bc i have a few scheduled, you guys blacklist or unfollow if you dont want to see them, and ill see about sprinkling in some sebastian content if i can find any i deem worth it.
also i don’t have any close irl friends to air my frustrations with, everyone here loved this crap, and that’s not really the discourse im looking for. but im happy for you, it sounds nice :)
hope you’re having a great day!
eta: i won’t leave btw. not unless the porn hub thing comes into fruition. just so you know, and if anyone cares. just sayin.
eta2: also? the fact that i, or we, are complaining and being pissed at the movie, but the opposition are attacking us for doing that? instead of, again, fucking blacklist and leave us the fuck alone? yeah, doesn’t help with the bitter. if y’all are so threatened by our arguments, maybe you should reevaluate your own, seems you’re trying a bit too hard there. i don’t want to take enjoyment from anyone, i envy you too much for that, but ffs, just leave me the fuck alone to deal with it. (that’s not @ you, that’s to them)
eta3: and thank you for saying im someone you like. but see? ive been trolling you all, im terrible. and i expect you don’t like me as much now anyways. but thank you, it was nice to hear nevertheless.

Okay, so, I had posted this before, but it was during my Identity Crisis and Waning Muse so it didn’t really stick. Not anymore. Basically RIP to MCU canon but we’re doing things differently here.
Below you will find a numerous canon rewrites from Peter’s highschool years up to his post-graduation days, incorporating elements from the MCU movies, tv shows and games. No specific mentions on relationships and other characters unless it is necessary to the Narrative, because a lot of that tends to be extremely thread and partner based. We got it? Good.
ANYWAY ON WITH THE SHOW:
-The Gang War™ begins in full force.
-Spidey is basically doing clean-up duty in the aftermath of the Gang War™ -He is trying to find where Hammerhead is, but comes up empty.
-Scorpion and Rhino get imprisoned in the Vault, Kravinoff gets arrested as well but she posts bail and gets out scot free because she’s got Powerful Connections™
Catchy name huh. -Peter has various encounters with Slayers while trying to figure out who is behind them -He eventually discovers it’s Alistair Smythe and tracks him to Oscorp. -Smythe unleashes the Ultimate Spider-Slayer, The Black Widow to try and stop Spidey once and for all. -Fight spills to the power plant, an Oscorp employee who is currently working on the plant, Max Dillon, gets caught in the crossfire and gets electrocuted. -Spidey manages to take down Smythe, Dillon is hospitalized. -Norman Osborn publicly denounces and distances himself from Smythe ( he’s The Mysterious Benefactor if you haven’t caught on yet ) -Norman profits both from making Super Mercs and Spider-Hunters for various factions behind the scenes, and for building housing units to hold said Super Mercs and Spider-Hunters, Vault is his creation. -He is also a terrible dad, but he does genuinely care for Harry, go figure. -Harry starts taking Gloublin Green, an experimental enhancer, to boost his academic and athletic life, as his body is regularly failing due to a hereditary disease (NOT the Goblin disease, the one Harry’s mom had in the PS4 game) -Max spends Christmas in the hospital and gradually transforms into Electro. -Black Cat drops in to give her Christmas Greetings by saying the mob is salvaging the parts from Spider-Slayer fights to re-arm themselves, also notifies him to the existence of a new Big Man consolidating power. -Peter thinks it’s Hammerhead, the only loose end from the previous Gang War, and starts his investigation into him. -Peter discovers Hammerhead leads the Maggia now, having quickly climbed through the ranks after the fallout of the last Gang War.
JANUARY - MAY 2020
-Harry joins the ESU football team, his performance enhanced by The Green. -Electro is Born and he’s Angry -He blames Smythe for his condition and tries to attack Oscorp, not knowing that Smythe is imprisoned. -Spidey arrives and fights him, fight eventually spilling to Times Square -Is it obvious I’ve started ripping off TASM 2 yet or…. -Electro is arrested and sent to Ravencroft for rehabilitation. -The news of a new Big Man starts making the rounds. -Harry’s Green Juicing gets bad, he starts blacking out.
SOPHOMORE UNDERGRAD
SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER 2020
-Peter is twenty. -He starts interning for Otto Octavius after Doctor Connors’ suggestion. -Flint Marko returns after a long absence in the streets, Spidey learns that Marko left the life of crime when he fell in love and got married, but returned back into it once he learned his baby was born with a disease and he needed the money for surgery. -Bet you didn’t expect me to rip off Raimi in this. -Marko is offered money to undergo a Super Merc experiment of his own, inspired by the Elementals Mysterio faked back a few years ago. Experiment uses bio-electricity generated by Electro, but it goes ‘wrong’ and Marko is turned to dust. -Sike he can control it, he’s Sandman now. -Spidey and Sandman fight, once Peter learns of his motives, he tries to get him to stop. -Marko is told to stop the movement of an oil tanker so the new Big Man can siphon it dry. -Spidey and Marko fight on the tanker, tanker explodes, Marko expresses remorse for he only wanted the money and not to hurt anyone, so he helps usher the ship crew to safety and contains the explosion, turning into glass due to the heat. -Sandman is presumed deceased, but he survived and just blew away gently in the wind. -Maybe he’s out there somewhere who knows.
JANUARY - MAY 2021 -Norman discovers Harry’s Green Usage, he gets Harry to stop. -Stupid boy drinking the Green instead of inhaling it like his dad did I mean what -Harry discovers the Green exacerbated the progression of his illness. -Spidey meets Yuri Watanabe, who is the lead detective and later Captain who is after the Big Man and the Mob. -Peter discovers the identity of the actual new Big Man, it’s Wilson Fisk, quickly filling the power vacuum after Tombstone’s defeat. -Spidey and Fisk fight, with Fisk seriously injuring Spidey and him having to swing away.
JUNIOR UNDERGRAD
September - December 2021
-Peter is twenty one. -As Harry’s illness progresses more and more, he and Peter’s friendship is strained, Peter is unaware of the illness.   -Norman starts winding down Super Merc experiments as he turns his focus into curing Harry. -He also readies for a mayoral run because he’s nothing if not a multitasker. -Harry wonders if Spider-Man’s abilities can cure him, wants a bit of his blood, Spidey is like ‘ew no wtf’ -Great Harry hates Spidey now. -Desperate, Harry springs Electro out of Ravencroft to sic him on Spidey and make him bleed. -Electro is like ‘Sure’ but once freed, he immediately goes to the Vault to try and kill Smythe. -You just can’t trust bio-electrical beings nowadays. -Spidey fights Electro in the Vault. -Electro cuts the power to the Vault and releases a bunch of inmates, but Spidey stops him before he can cut the power that holds the more super powered inmates. -Electro is imprisoned in the Vault.
MARCH - MAY 2020 -Yeah Peter had a quiet winter for once can you believe it. -Norman is elected mayor of New York, using his role in the building of the Vault to boost his approval ratings, motherfucker was playing the Long Game. -Norman revives his old genetic experiments to find a cure for Harry. -Devil’s Breath experiment is resurrected. -Harry’s condition worsens, Norman decides to send him to ‘Europe’ to heal. -In truth, Harry is in Oscorp in ‘stasis’. -Spidey’s attention turns yet again to the rising gang activity, he channels his focus into taking down Fisk.

Happy Birthday, hannahgisatree2267
June 5-a Steve/Daisy fluff piece where Steve is jealous of Daisys and Buckys fast friendship and bonding over mind control. Or literally any Steve/Daisy prompt, for @hannahgisatree2267
I chose the line “I’ve been thinking about you all day” to add to your prompt. This is a post-Endgame AU. For the purpose of this story, let’s pretend that Steve didn’t stay in the past/an alternate timeline with Peggy at the end of Endgame.
I hope you like this!
Written by @kathryn-claire-oconnor
Caught up in his own thoughts and staring at the people sparring across the gym, Steve only blinked when Sam threw an empty water bottle at his head. “Man,” Sam demanded wearily as he watched him. “What are you doing?”
“What? Nothing.” Steve snapped his gaze away from Daisy and Bucky’s sparring match to snatch up a water bottle of his own. “I’m not doing anything. Admiring Bucky’s technique, if anything.” Then he drank the water bottle in one go in a bid to end the conversation there.
Sam wasn’t playing along, giving Steve a terrifically unimpressed look as he repeated disbelievingly, “’Technique?’”
“They’re sparring, aren’t they? Am I not allowed to watch and learn?” Steve couldn’t help but hope that his testy tone was only in his own head, but, judging by Sam’s unwavering expression, his friend had heard it too.
“Yeah, you are – if any of us believed for a second that’s what you were actually doing. You’re standing over here giving Daisy thousand-yard puppy eyes when everybody can see that you two are into each other. She’s just giving way for your old-fashioned ego and waiting for you to do something about it. So, do something about it, before Barnes and I get so sick of you we do something about it for you.”
Leaving that odd and somewhat ominous threat dangling over Steve’s head, Sam grabbed his gym bag and headed for the showers. Steve dropped down onto a bench with a stifled sigh, smashing his empty bottle between his hands, and kept right on watching Daisy and Bucky spar.
Which he was doing – at least partially – because it really, really was because it was an interesting match. Daisy was small and agile, and Bucky was definitely bulkier and relying a bit more on brute strength than his sparring partner. Their different fighting styles meant that they were keeping each other on their toes.
They were a good match.
And that was the other half of why Steve was watching them.
There was a spark there, between himself and Daisy; he knew they both felt it and had ever since they’d properly met after bringing people back from the Snap. But Daisy had also developed such a fast bond with Bucky over the experiences that they’d shared – like brainwashing – that it had thrown Steve for a bit of a loop, and now, despite what Sam had said, he was a little unsure where he and Daisy stood. At the same time, Sam was right; he needed to figure it out with her, for his own peace of mind if nothing else.
So, he waited, watching from afar, in a way that he could only hope wasn’t creepy. When Daisy and Bucky were done sparring, Bucky must’ve seen something in his oldest friend’s face, because he gave Steve a smile that might’ve been meant as encouraging, grabbed a Gatorade from the mini fridge, and left to shower and change in his own room.
Daisy took a water bottle from the fridge and sat down beside Steve, catching her breath as she opened her drink. “Hey.”
“Hey.”
She eyed him, taking a long drink before she asked him point-blank, “What’s on your mind?”
“Am I that obvious?” he asked dryly. She nodded with a soft smile, waited for him to continue. He twisted the cap off and onto his crushed bottle, admitting, “I’ve been thinking about you,” with a dry chuckle at himself, he added, “All day, actually. Which sounds really bad, now that I say it aloud, after watching you and Bucky for the past ten minutes.”
Daisy chuckled, grinning as she assured him, “Well, I don’t think Captain American could be anyone’s stalker, so I’ll allow it, for now.”
“Thanks.” He looked at her then, noticing the way the light caught her eyes and turned them almost golden brown.
“What were you thinking – about me, I mean?” she prompted, giving him her full attention.
There was his opening, and she was a smart lady, she knew she was giving it to him. Might as well dive right in. “I was thinking about… us? If you even want there to be an us, that is? I know we’ve been taking it really slowly as the world, you know, rebuilds around us, and I—I didn’t want to misinterpret something, read too much into something if you didn’t even want there to be an ‘us’ at all. Because I see you and Bucky, and I don’t want to hurt either one of you,  and I see this great bond between you over things that you need to be able to discuss with someone – and I’m glad you both have that, I really am – but if I need to get out of the way so that can become something more, you’re going to have to tell me, because I’m not just going to walk away from such a great woman without—”
“Hey, hey, whoa,” Daisy raised her hands to stop him, looking like she was starting to get a little lost in his tirade. “Slow down for a second here. Bucky and I? Is that what you’re worried about?” When he nodded, not sure what to say that wouldn’t make him sound even worse right now, she just looked even more puzzled. “Where did that come from?”
“You two… you get along really well together, and you’ve clearly… meshed well. I know that you and I have this… attraction, but we’ve been really slow about exploring it, and if you aren’t interested in me, if you’d rather –”
“No, Steve, I wouldn’t ‘rather’ anything. Bucky and I ‘mesh’ as friends, because there’s things that we both need to talk through, yes, and he gets it better than most, but we are only friends, and that’s all we want from each other. Okay?”
He believed her, but he wasn’t sure where to take the conversation from here, so he only repeated, “Okay,” and waited for her to continue.
Sighing and taking his hand – that was a good sign, right? – she did so. “I thought you understood, Steve. If there’s been a misunderstanding, I’m sorry. Let’s get rid of it, alright?”
“Yes, please,” he said lightly.
“Here’s what I understood, okay? You and I are interested in each other. There’s chemistry there, it’s nice. There’s been a couple dates, a little sex, but we’re not getting serious yet, because there’s still a lot going on in the rest of the world, and we’re all really busy being a part of that. But I want to get to know you, to explore a relationship with you within the confines of what is possible considering our workload right now. Does that sound right to you? Was there anything wrong, or any miscommunication in there?”
Steve gave it the moment of real consideration she seemed to be asking for, then shook his head.
“And do you feel the same way about me?” she asked coaxingly, looking a little like she wasn’t sure if she should be amused or annoyed with him.
He didn’t blame her as he squeezed her hand, promising, “Yes, absolutely. I want that – I want something – with you. As much as you’re willing to have too.”
“Then let’s take a deep breath, chill for a second, and work on that. No drama,” she gave him a pointed look. “No worrying about our best friends who would never, ever steal your girl, no pressure. Let’s talk when we can, and get to know one another, and do a little of this life thing together. Sound good?”
Finally, he relaxed, leaning down until their foreheads were touching as he admitted, “That sounds perfect.”
“Good.” She moved just enough to give him a light peck on the lips.
“Sorry if I was… not great,” he felt the need to say, even if he wasn’t sure how to categorize his own jealousy.
“You’re a worrywart, captain,” she said with a small shrug. “But you don’t have to be with me. Not ever.”
Steve grinned dryly, willing to let the seriousness of the moment pass now as he pointed out, “I guess I should’ve realized some of that when you managed to pin Bucky on the mat.”
“Probably.” She returned his teasing smile with one of her own before standing with her hand still in his. “So. I’m going to go take a shower and wash some of this stink off. You should do the same. In fact, if you were really serious about wanting to get to know one another better, we could kill two birds with one stone and talk together while… I don’t know… in the shower?”
Her casual tone was given away by the sparkle in her eyes, and Steve’s grin widened as he stood up and let her lead him away. “That also sounds perfect.”
