What is Good Omens: the Official (and Ineffable) Graphic Novel?

The Good Omens: the Official (and Ineffable) Graphic Novel is the upcoming adaptation of the glorious 1990 Good Omens novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman in a graphic novel form. The adaptation is done by the talented Colleen Doran who worked with Neil on several other of his projects such as Chivalry, The Sandman, or Snow, Glass, Apples. The adaptation done under the gentle eyes of both Neil Gaiman and the Terry Pratchett Estate so don't worry that it will be unfaithful <3.

How can I help/join/pre-order?

The project is done on Kickstarter to keep the creative control with Neil, the Terry Pratchett's Estate and Colleen. If you're not familiar with Kickstarter it is a place where you pledge money and in return you get the product plus possible bonuses.

Neil Gaiman: The good Omens Kickstarter - we've got a fabulous, glorious, amazing adaptation of Good Omens waiting for you in graphic novel form.

Rob: Neil Gaiman was the first person, the first journalist to interview Terry after the publication of The Colour of Magic. They stayed friends and Neil met Terry again and discussed the idea of this novel that he had that he really ought to get written down and he sent the idea through to Terry and a little while later Terry called him back and said: you bastard I want that idea for myself, and Terry offered to either buy the idea or to work with Neil on the project, and as Neil said at the time it would be like Michelangelo calling saying: here give me a hand to paint this ceiling, so of course Neil and Terry worked on it together.

Colleen Doran: Hi and welcome to my studio. I am pleased and excited beyond words to talk to you tonight about Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's good Omens the graphic novel adaptation. You have no idea how happy I am to be working on this aside from the fact that I get to sit around and draw Azirphale and Crowley all day and who wouldn't want that - oh this is fun this is pure candy and I'm working very very hard to bring you a faithful adaptation. I love this book I love this project and bringing it to you is pure joy. Thanks a lot for your support. Thank you.

Since we're almost at 2024, and coming out of all this horrendous aphobic discourse, I thought I'd put together a bunch of aromantic + asexual resources for people who are maybe questioning themselves, or want to know more (heck yes for learning!) Most of these are long form (Youtube videos/articles) because that's how I feel is best for learning, compared to shorter form content like TikTok.

The first asexual activist I stumbled across all those years ago. She was infamously the reason for a lot of aphobic comments on twitter, because hey, she's also a lingerie model, and lord forbid somebody who identifies as asexual present... yknow. Sexy.

She's also a researcher, who's putting in the effort to depathologise asexuality and aromanticism, especially within psychiatry and mental health.

Ace Dad Advice (they/them, asexual/agender/queer)

AceDad is one of my favourite a-spec activists. Their simple, easily digestible posts on Instagram outlining the various aspects of asexuality, aromanticism and agender (the triple As lmao) are a comfort to read. There's also lots of affirming stuff on there that's helped me with my own spiraling thoughts.

New books in my Tolkien collection lovingly provided by my best friend who was decluttering her bookshelves, a lovely card she got me in one of her travels, and new books I got (I cannot wait to continue the poppy war series!!)

The last few days have been intense to say the least. I am trying to spend as much time as I can with my friend before she leaves again. We had a sleepover, I met two of her friends who were visiting and overall we spent a lot of quality time together. We played board games, cooked together, went on walks, stayed up talking until 3 am. The other day we also went to a bookshop and after we spontaneously decided to get piercings together. I finally got my septum done, and here's were things started to go downhill. Now, I was very much aware my parents were not going to be happy about it, but I was not expecting to unleash the apocalypse itself. Things are somewhat cooler at the moment, also thanks to my beloved brother without whom I don't know what I'd do. He didn't hesitate a second to take my side, and he supported me in a very emotional argument with my parents. It's not that they're happy now, and I am not over the fact that a big chunk of joy I was feeling over this thing has been taken away from me, but at least things seem to be calmer. They will get used to it one way or another, because I am not up for compromise on things about my own body that make me happy. I might wait a bit longer than I originally planned to get my next tattoo, but that's fine since I didn't have everything planned out yet. I won't lie and say I wasn't upset with all of this, I still am, but I am thankful I had thr support of my brother and of my friends, that really filled my heart with love and gratitude.

Chill hobbit summer things of the last few days:

Slowly got back into reading first thing in the morning

Sleepover and late night talks

Meeting new people without feeling nervous about it

Taking my meds when needed (self care at its core)

Continuing my Irish review on duolingo and reaching a 400 day streak

Finishing The Witcher Blood Origin (I didn't mind the story, it was pretty entertaining, but there were a couple of things I didn't love love about it)

Doing something spontaneous (and paying rhe consequences I guess, but fuck it)

Saw not one but two hedgehogs in my garden at night (which means the little lads might be making a home in there and I would be so happy about it)

I might as well make this a series at this point! Kind of like a collection of some of my favorite stand-alone book.

I've read Radiosilence more recently (last fall lol) and I have so many clear memories of it! The characters & themes it covered are very dear and important to me! I love the platonic relationships, the academic-themes and slight representation of demisexuality so so much!

idk if this is too specific of an ask but what books (fiction and non-fiction) would you recommend to an aspiring queer author to read? like what you deem as absolutely mandatory read in your own opinion?

I’d actually say it’s maybe not specific enough, in that it depends what kinds of books you want to write, what publishing path you want to pursue, etc. To answer this generally (though I’m happy to answer more specifically if you write back with more detail), I think the most “mandatory” are probably the ones you see in comp titles (the “this book is perfect for fans of X” or “X meets Y in this Sapphic adventure etc. etc.), because clearly those are kind of baseline books for the industry. Think Heartstopper by Alice Oseman, Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston, They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera, etc. Reading deal announcements will help a lot with this! hello summer!

since i was younger, i have always felt a need for things to be even.

and for the light is the same as the arms I feel the need for them to be very straight

I feel a need to bend my fingers back, or rapidly move my wrists in circles. Feels the same for my ankles, kind of? i get the feeling in my mouth and eyes, too. For my mouth it's a need to just move my lips. I can't really remember what it is for my eyes, because that one is rare, so i can't remember what i need to do for my eyes. I find it physically painful not to do this. I need to straighten out my arms and legs, or put them in a position where they're as straight as possible to make it stop being painful.

I also feel like i need to pull it overtop my fingernails? It's very difficult to discribe, so i'm sorry if this isn't clear enough. I'm not sure how to otherwise discribe the feeling.

Then there's objects. Everything needs to be perfectly straight and organized. For example, i have a collection of Heartstopper books. They need to go with the other graphic novels, and they all need to be together and propped up correctly. My Alice Oseman books should be on my desk, as they're pleasing to look at, and I don't like having them on my bookshelf.

With my clothes, they just cannot be in the open. Doesn't matter if they're clean or dirty, they just need to be hidden. It makes me uncomfortable at the idea of everyone being able to see them.

I also can't stand my desk being a mess, but I just don't have the courage to clean it. It's always bothering me that it's not properly organized.

two of my friends said they thought this sounded like OCD, but I'm not sure.

Do you have any idea if this sounds like OCD? Maybe an online test? or if you don't think it sounds like OCD, do you have any other idea what it could be?
