Aesexuality and aromantics

Hi! I’m aceflux, or somewhere along the aesexual spectrum. I’m also demiromantic. I’ve had no prior trauma that I remember that has caused this, but these lack of feelings occurred. I don’t know why. Does anybody have an explanation for this?

I told my parents I was aro/ace and my mom still makes romance jokes about me. I told my parents there is a regular customer at work whose eyes change colours depending on the light (it's really cool; they actively shift through the entire rainbow whole he is going through the line and it is so neat) and my mom was like "oooh why are you staring at his eyes?" and I think that this means I get to not laugh at her jokes anymore.

Like i will laugh at the actual funny ones that aren't erasing my identity but I have been trying to not mask and pretend like jokes are funny that aren't funny but I feel obliged to react to them to win points in a neurotypical society that expects this from me, so this is just my excuse to stop.

realizing i’m ace after having so many heavy sexual relationships in my early teen years is so wack. i always had this idea of what asexuality was supposed to be, and since i didn’t fit in that box i suppose i assumed i was just a broken dude sexually since i didn’t experience things as all my peers did. now as an adult you mean to tell me i’m normal and shit?? that it’s a spectrum and it’s okay if i’m sex neutral sometimes?? crazy !
