Wizard Boyfriend Energy

I'm not super confident in writing Gale yet, so I usually don't have much ideas for him when writing those lil shitposts ahha. I am still proud of my sandwhich joke though.

If I haven't mentioned it enough before, I polyship with Gale since I like bloodweave a lot <_<

Gale is kind of like ''the boyfriend of the married couple'' energy, so he's much more chill compared to how he first is in regards to relationships. Of course- in all relationships jealousy and insecurities can happen, and its the best to talk about it and voice any concerns.

I do like to imagine a lot of silliness when it comes to this dynamic, especially if the married two are immortal vampires and the boyfriend is a human wizard pff.

Weird, silly headcanon- I think Minthara ships or at least looks to Loki and Astarion as an ''ideal power couple'' and then there's Gale.. And she's just annoyed whenever she sees them all three together.

Loki: *discussing some optics with restructuring some systems to handle controlling the public opinion better*

Astarion: *listening, suggesting laws that he could bring into play*

Minthara: Hmph. They're too pacifist with these ideas..

Gale: *just existing in the room, drinking tea and reading newspaper, not participating in the ongoing discussion*

Minthara: *speaking her thoughts out loud* It's the wizard's fault.. He's too soft.

Loki: *sarcastic* I'm not sure how you think Gale's ''softness'' is ruining the Parasocial relationships we are cultivating with the voting body, but I appreciate the ''input'', Minthara.

Gale: Excuse you! My softness is a treasured and desirable quality. I'm sure it could persuade anyone to vote favorably in the right situation. *sips his tea and pouts*

Astarion: Wizards have their charms, especially when they're not about to combust at any moment.

Astarion: ...All though, a little kamikaze on the horizon would surely convince anyone to sway to the right path. Huhu..

Gale: Oof, and here I thought I was going to explode from hurt feelings. It's lousy teasing doing the job instead.

Loki: I thought we talked about this, wizards have the tendency to explode, but .. To combust is a different story.

Minthara: I don't get it. Why else is he here?

Loki: A warm body in bed. Works wonders in the winter.

Astarion: Resourceful noise, when it's too quiet to focus. It makes all troubles of the outside world melt away.

Loki: Oh yes! The entire vocabulary that flows out of his mouth. I love hearing his voice as much as he loves speaking with it.

Gale: Thank you gentlemen, I've been complimented enough for today. I've got a classroom to entertain very soon. I'll excuse myself-

Loki: Don't forget to Implore on them to keep a safe distance at all times.

Gale: You know me so well. Safety first!

Minthara: At least he knows how to use fear as a tool properly...

I time/space travelled to a Henry the 8th royal ball and was using my magic powers to just mess with people and brought my boyfriend along to enjoy the banquet. But then a mysterious person asked me for a dance.. and while dancing they told me that they were the court wizard and asked me what the fuck I was doing here, so I escaped back to my own time.

So full of love for these guys! I need to do more drawings of them. Especially of softer, rounder Simon when he’s no longer malnourished from being in the care system :/

I wanted to give myself the challenge of creating a book cover design, and making the mock-up was fun. I’m not sure how I feel about the overall look.. maybe it’s a bit too busy? I really wanted to have Watford in the background and the dragon wings, and details like Penelope’s ring. Simon is secretly wearing his trainers but they got hidden by the title banner 🤦‍♂️

I love how much illustration is being used on the covers of YA fiction right now. Having my artwork on a queer YA book cover would be a dream.

This is my magnum opus! A GIANT photo manipulation of at least 12 source images, painstakingly taken apart and put back together in Photoshop. at one point this beast had over 80 layers! I am surprised my computer didn't crash!

Inspired by the Iron Man 3 and Thor: the Dark World posters wherein the love interest is posed like a Damsel in Distress.

Since Bucky IS CapSteve's damsel in all 3 movies!

^ my original digital sketch (featuring my FAVORITE Bucky drawing OF ALL TIME by @evankart!) and first attempt at a digital drawing using adobe illustrator (to be fair to 2021 me, I had been using illustrator less than a year at that point and would have just done it in Photoshop originally if it wasn't a project for one of my Graphic Design college classes) I used it for a magazine spread in my capstone (My paper was about queerbaiting in the MCU click to read on Ao3!) ok so I post excessively about the wizard now but like hey: thesis statement

i find it telling that despite being a former arch-mage, and despite the whole mystra ordeal, and everything, the main "good old days" memories that gale has to share with the player are all from the distant past- mostly revolving around his childhood or time as a student. you'd think a man with his kind of experience and practice would have more interesting, more recent stories to tell, right? surely an arch-mage does interesting shit?

but he doesn't, and he didn't, because his life entirely and utterly revolved around mystra. his work? finding that piece of karsite weave to return to her, for a multitude of reasons. the overwhelming desire to prove himself to her. the want to be her equal. everything and anything else that possessed him to pursue that book. his relationships? what relationships? his friendship with Tara, or his relationship to mystra herself? there wasn't anything else, he tells you as much- no friends, no lingering names asides from elminster (another one of mystra's chosen) and just vague "coworkers". as far as we know there was literally nothing going on in this motherfuckers life asides from mystra-related stuff for who knows how long.

so instead of impressive tales of long-lost tomes he discovered, projects of his own that he dedicated time to, anything else you'd expect from a fucking insaneo-wizard who can make life-sized interactive illusions at the drop of a hat: you get nothing but a gaping hole of "this is when the accident happened" and the glimmer of a few good memories long before that time. some of the only stories from his life he seems genuinely excited and happy to tell are those childhood ones- ridiculous tales about how he summoned Tara in the first place, set shit on fire as a child, or tried to burgle an important staff as a student. those younger memories are like all he has to rely on dawg. there's nothing else there. there is literally nothing there.
