THE WAY UHTRED SPOKE TO HIM filled Alfred with three emotions. The first was anger; HOW DARE HE speak to his king in such a manner? The second was disappointment; once again, Uhtred was proving to be irrational and stubborn. The third was guilt, because even in his self-righteousness, Alfred knew there was some truth to his words. THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD was on his shoulders, so he shared some of that burden with Uhtred, whether the other man liked it or not. HE’D SWORN AN OATH, and he would do well to keep it. He deserved to be treated better, yes, but it was almost impossible to trust a man who refused to accept the existence of the one true God. Addressing his anger first, Alfred’s gaze became condescending, staring upon the Dane, for he was no Saxon. “You will do well to remember to TREAT ME WITH RESPECT. I am your king.” Next, the disappointment. “Is that what you believe, Uhtred? That my desire to bring people together and bring peace to the land by forming a united England is SELFISH?” And last, the guilt. Alfred would downplay it, of course, but he needed Uhtred to know that his words were ACKNOWLEDGED, that Alfred was listening to him. “I understand your frustrations. But you MUST have patience. I am well aware of all that you have done for Wessex…” And I am grateful. Somehow, Alfred couldn’t bring himself to say such things. “If there is anything more you would like to say, you may say it… RESPECTFULLY.”

Sooo— I took the Soldier, Poet, King quiz-
I got..
The King
"There will come a ruler Whose brow is laid in thorn Smeared with oil like David's boy"
Duty. Strength. Resignation. You were told to do things and you did them. The world is something that was put into your hands and that you must deal with - so you will. You have a rigid back and steady hands, either metaphorically or physically. Is it nature or nurture ? You don't know. You are tired of being steady. You dream of feeling alive. Not that you aren't, but, sometimes, it's hard to remember that there is a heart between your ribs. Your love is where you breathe. Come on, breathe. In. Out. It starts now.
I love this trend so much. It’s very interesting seeing how different people think and imagine themselves within the confines of these 3 groups. Yet each group is interlocked with one another. It’s so interesting :3

when will people realize that actually you CAN interpret songs however you damn please to make it fit your blorbo or your own damn life for all i care. have we not been doing this for years.
yeah!!! you don’t have to construe a narrative for WHY it was originally meant for your interpretation. just take it and go!! as i said op did make some good points. about how while their songs include biblical metaphors said metaphors typically reach outside of just meaning something religious. but they chose the ONE song where even in metaphor. it still ties back to jesus

@ofthevanyar sent: ❝ you haven’t been listening to me, have you? ❞
Faegalad’s head snapped back toward Amarië, and her surprised expression answered the question before she could even speak. It wasn’t that she had been disinterested, or bored of the other elleth’s company, but... she was distracted. Her mind elsewhere. And, for a moment, guilt filled her gaze, but she shook her head to rid of it just as quickly as it appeared.
“My apologies,” she said - her voice soft. “I was just... lost in thought. What was it that you were saying? I promise I am listening to you now.”

“So?” Mint stood, commanding the presence of the room despite the opposing Warlord standing opposite him, “Why have you left your altar of a throne to speak with me? It must be important.” The question was genuine, but there was a very slight tone of mocking and distrust aimed at Legion. It wasn’t often Warlords crossed into each others’ territories for anything other than war, so it was probably understandable.
His mechanical brow remained furrowed. “Are you here to demand my land? Perhaps my people? My tools? Or are you defying legends of the titanous Warlord Legion by offering alliance?”
Most who knew the name Legion knew that he wasn’t friendly, nor kind. Perhaps to his own people, but no one outside ever got close enough to see that. They normally never came back if they did. “I know some others have been causing you trouble, and though I doubt it’s anything you can’t handle on your own, if it’s what you’re here about, I can offer assistance, in exchange for the promise you won’t bother me. If you go back on that, I think you know what’ll happen.” Mint was similar: his own people were treated as well as he could manage, but any outsiders were guilty unless proven innocent -- they could be up to anything.
Nearby, a much smaller Exo stood by Mint’s throne. He was clearly out of his element, definitely not one of the guards, maybe he had been talking with Mint before Legion walked into the room. Tangle definitely seemed intimidated by the two larger Exos, keeping his gaze to the ground to avoid seeming confrontational at all costs.

[wip] hetalia dndverse - alfred, the chosen of lathander // there will come a soldier who carries a mighty sword // there will come a poet whose weapon is his word // there will come a ruler whose brow is laid in thorn
terrifying and beautiful is the righteous fury of the rising sun, so new and full of hope yet blazing with the passion of youth. upon sullied marble marches the golden paladin of the morninglord, his unwavering faith tempered by doubt and the long, dusty road of discovery. scourge of dawn, may the broken rally behind your banner and the unworthy of the mistress of pain be cleansed by holy fire, as is your god's whim. your eyes, the sun; your hands, a shining spear.
@wickedwanchii this was only meant to be thumbnails...but please enjoy this wip of an on-the-fly idea from our dndverse au. aasimar paladin, alfred, the golden son of lathander, showing the scars of his journey.

Berry: JUST IN TIME FOR THE RELEASE OF MALLEUS' GROOVY SO NOW ALL 22 BOIS ARE COMPLETE legit crying tears of joy right now
Tumblr media
Malleus Draconia "There will come a ruler, Whose brow is laid in thorn." -To be honest, I do see this song fitting both Malleus AND Lilia but ultimately chose Malleus upon thinking about it more. I consider him all three, soldier; because he has to train to be a fighter and to be an adept wizard longer than anyone has to. Poet; has an exceptional vocabulary and is in tuned with his creative side. And finally, ruler; bearing the huge responsibility of his kingdom, his parents' legacy at such a young age.
Lilia Vanrouge "I'll carry you home. No, you're not, alone. Keep marching on." -I really liked this song before going into TWST so it was quite nostalgic while listening to this song. I thought this would definitely fit Lilia, a Fae who showcases his genuine side. He looks after others and tries his best to raise Silver, Sebek and Malleus in a way that would make them better and stronger people.
Silver "When you get older your wild heart will live for younger days Think of me if ever you're afraid." -This is sort of a connection to Lilia's song. Silver wanted to live out his life to the best of his abilities all from his father's words. He trusts Lilia's experiences so even though he has his sleeping habits, he wants to spend it as much as possible with Lilia along with his friends when they all still have the time and energy to do so.
Sebek Zigvolt "If you can't fly, run. Today we will survive." - Sebek is ride or die especially about to Malleus. He sticks to his beliefs and is stubborn at it too. He doesn't give up or give in, this half-fae will find ways in order to achieve his goal. He's the shield of Diasomnia, strong and dutiful to its king.

soldier, poet, king by the oh hellos is quite similar to the hero of ferelden, hawke, and the inquisitor
HoF: "There will come a soldier
Who carries a mighty sword
He will tear your city down
Oh lei, oh lai, oh, Lord"
Hawke: "There will come a poet
Whose weapon is His word
He will slay you with His tongue
Oh lei, oh lai, oh, Lord"
Inquisitor: "There will come a ruler
Whose brow is laid in thorn
Smeared with oil like David's boy
Oh lei, oh lai, oh, Lord"
