I mentioned this once so have a thee
Flight pilot and co-pilot GhostSoap AU.
Ghost's messing around and saying the stupidest things while they wait for the appointed time to take off and Soap just won't stop laughing.
Ghost: Alright, all passengers with destination to Wankerville please fasten your seatbelts and hold tight because this will be a long trip. In case of a turbulence you've got no need to worry about a fucking thing, because I'm pretty sure my co-pilot still remembers how to fly this thing.
Soap, who's laughing his ass off suddenly stops: ...Simon?
Ghost: Yeah?
Soap: I think this thing was on.
Ghost: ...The whole time?
Soap: *slowly nods*
The passengers who have been listening to this stupidity for the past half an hour:

Chapter 3 is up!!
Read on AO3
Shall I tempt you with a snippet?? I shall!
Covering her hands with his, he murmured softly, “Our scars tell a story, angel. I put pictures with mine, because I’m a big, dumb idiot.” Her giggle vibrated through his back and sank straight into his gut, warming him from the inside out. Any happiness he could give her would always be the greatest thrill. Ruhn pulled her hands apart and turned to face her, letting go in favor of cupping her sweet, blushing cheeks.
“We will never go faster than you’re comfortable with, but just know that you never have to hide your scars from me. Yours is a story that I want to read, cover to cover. I want to put those little tabs in there, taking note of the things that made you laugh, the things that made you happy. The things that hurt you and the things that you fear still might try. I want to study every page, memorize every fucking word. Until I know you better than anyone ever has and ever will.”
Ruhn leaned in and captured her lips in a soft, brutally tender kiss. It thrilled him, the potential of the paradox that the two of them could be: her soft, quiet strength at odds with his dominating demand. He dreamed of the day she would be on her knees, looking up at him through her lashes and calling him Sir – trusting him with everything that she was. And then, after whatever the scene may be, he would make love to her and worship her body and her soul the way she deserved.

The World of Strelles - Two Continent Map
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright everyone - I spent yesterday slaving away on trying to figure this out so I can have my dream of Strelles being two continents. Each side is still able to access each other as the Wanderer's Pass is actually fully connected to each other - the bridge is only crossable at low-tide however when it exposes the bank. It's appropriately called the Sunken Bridge.
Updated Locations with this map:
obviously there are now two continents; East and West Courage and Dauntless have been shifted upward Fade's Crossing Permanent Market - a trading zone in the west used by diplomats and merchants of all kinds; many kits will be raised here as merchants. Primarily a settlement of coyotes and foxes outside of the Skulks. No Man's Market - a trading zone that is always shifting, morphing and changing. Everyone present is usually only there for a day or so - maybe a week as they wait for the tides to shift so they can leave or join-up with someone crossing to them. Because this is such a busy place, it's ideal to make quick; personal trades or to dump inventory. Dead God's Grave - A massive fertile field of land used for celebrations and trades. An unofficial extension of the Main Lands. The Lake Treaty - Unclaimed space left around the east-side of the lake. Made because droughts happen frequently in the east-continent and water is considered a right. The West Rift - Also called the Throat of the World is a rift-valley sitting on top of a hotspot. The edges of the rift have warm pools cool enough to prevent a creature from immediately over-heating The Sunken City - A series of tunnels and Caverns with signs of previous inhabitation in the form of faded images, old anchored tools and dens that have been victims of time and water-damage. These are a commonly visited area much like a museum - creatures who venture here should be careful however! These caverns are victims of frequent flooding and during heavy rainstorms, the only safe option is to escape. The Untethered - The Guardians from canon but given that's already a rank, I thought this would be a nice name for them. Freelance healers and the collectors of all the world's medical information. The Untethered have some of the most advanced healing methods known to strelles due to their dedication to exploring the world of healing and are known to share this information with others in need."

Also! I have been trying to finally update the info posts that aren’t properly formatted yet, and of all the ones I got stuck on/distracted by, it was of course the one for my selfship with Elena. This is partially due to the nature of this selfship as being set in an AU that changes some story details, but also just generally because Elena is amazing and I love her a lot, even if her relative lack of presence in the story (she’s talked about a fair bit but she only shows up as herself in the postgame for one part of one quest..) means it can be tricky to talk about her unprompted.
There will never be an end to the Reborn focus. I really really need to play that game more again

Phew, I am proud of this. I feel like this is one of the rare times I managed to make the colors look somewhat nice.
Also they're not actually looking at anyone. They're just staring into the distance. You know, having a dramatic, edgy moment before going back to studying.

That's an epic and creative idea and I like it, but all I can imagine is Ingo being in the dark, and Elesa rolls up to Emmet like "Hey, Emmet what's u— OH MY GOD YOUR EYES ARE BLACK."

Ski Lift Duty

Just a regular day on the slopes for Ruhn, Flynn, and Dec. Which, of course, starts off hungover all thanks to Flynn.

"Well, aren't we chipper this morning!"
Ruhn turned his head slowly and glared up at Tristan Flynn. His chestnut-haired friend was grinning widely at him and Declan, the two of them currently leaning against each other as they fought off sleep.
"Shut up and give me the coffee," Declan groaned, holding out his hand.
Flynn handed one of the travel cups to Declan, laughing as he handed a second to Ruhn. "Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed…no, wait, table."
Declan's responding growl was justified. Flynn had invited a host of people to their house the night before - mostly out-of-towners traveling to the mountains for a skiing vacation - and that was all Ruhn could accurately remember. After that it was a haze of drinks, drugs, and a woman only his tongue seemed to have any recollection of.
She was gone before he woke up, his room proof of the chaos they'd wrought. Considering the crack he'd found on his chest of drawers, Ruhn really wished he could remember more of it.
At least he'd managed to make his way to his own bed. Declan found himself sprawled on the table Flynn had painted, face down right against the depiction of a "Fae" male that bore an uncanny resemblance to Flynn. Self-indulgent, as always.
Ruhn brought the coffee to his lips and managed to take in a full gulp before spitting the liquid sugar out onto the snow-covered ground.
"What the fuck is this shit?" he asked, holding the cup up.
"That would be a Cinnamon Dolce Latte. You're welcome." Flynn sipped his own happily as he started toward the office on the outskirts of the mountain resort.
Declan and Ruhn locked stares for a moment and then both rolled their eyes as they dragged behind. How Flynn managed to always be so perky in the morning was beyond Ruhn. He'd never once seen his friend hungover. Considering how heavily the three had been drinking since freshman year of high school, Ruhn couldn't understand how that was possible.
The dark wood building was designed to look like a homey cabin from the outside, welcoming to visitors who needed help or to pick up their lift tickets. Surrounded and covered by a fresh layer of sparkling snow, it would've looked quite idyllic with the rising mountain in the background, if Ruhn couldn't see the massive parking lot in his peripheral vision.
"Good morning, Lele!" Flynn flashed the older office manager a heart-stopping smile as he leaned against the counter. The woman looked up from her computer, her wild tangle of red and gold curls shimmering in the light like a flame. "How are you doing today?"
Lehabah blushed softly as she met Flynn's stare. "Oh, better now," she sighed. "How are you three?"
"Wishing I had real coffee," Ruhn groaned, stepping up next to Flynn. "I don't suppose you'd be interested in this? It's far too sweet for me. Just like you." He sent her a wink that had the older woman blushing wildly.
"Don't be too nice to me, Ruhn. You'll make me fall for you."
Flynn let out an exaggerated gasp. "What about me?!"
"My heart is already taken," she decreed, a blush spreading.
Ruhn let out a laugh, giving Flynn a shit-eating grin before he asked, "So, what's on our schedule today?"
"Ski lift duty again, boys. Bottom." They all groaned. "I know," Lele sighed. "But we're just not getting many ski lesson sign ups ever since Malakim Slopes opened up across the street."
"Fucking 'we only allow skiiers, so we're specialists' crap," Flynn grumbled. "And let me guess, the boarders are packed with lessons."
"Afraid so. I try to handle the schedule so that some boarders help with the lift, but it's a busy time of year for lessons, since most schools are out on break over the next few weeks. We do, however, have a new ski instructor starting today, and next week we are getting some calls for ski lessons, so you'll get more variety, at least."
"I'd just like to get Holstrom on the lift one time," Ruhn muttered. The idiot was one of the best snowboarders they had, and a great instructor. Since day one he hadn't once had to operate the ski lift, always being the first instructor booked for lessons, especially by teenaged and college girls.
Worst of all, he was dating Ruhn's sister.
Ruhn supposed Connor was a decent enough guy. And, yeah, he seemed to love Bryce. But, Ruhn hated Connor on principle. And he definitely didn't enjoy watching them flirt whenever Connor was on break and Ruhn went into the store.
They all thanked Lele and headed out toward the main lift. It was right in front of the main lodge where all the skiers and snowboarders would keep their stuff, eat lunch, take breaks, and so on.
A few early birds were already waiting by the lift. Tharion and Ariadne were already standing there, both holding travel mugs that were steaming from their small openings.
"They're alive!" Tharion called out, spotting Rhun, Flynn, and Declan walking across the snow.
"Barely," Declan breathed as they reached the two ski instructors. "You two at the top today?"
Before either could answer, Flynn shoved closer to Declan, resting an elbow on his shoulder as he said, "Hey, Ari! I didn't see you last night at our party."
"I didn't go." Her crimson eyes were flat and indifferent as she met Flynn's gaze.
Of course, the idiot wasn't discouraged. Never. "Well, that's quite a shame. You missed out."
Ari sighed, "I doubt it." Then she turned and walked to the lift, fastening her skis and sitting in the chair that was waiting for the lift to be started.
Flynn's eyes followed her fervidly.
"Wrong tree, my friend," Ruhn muttered with amusement. He loved watching them interact. After years of Flynn being far too smooth with every female he met, it was an enjoyable difference to see Ari constantly turning him down. Not that Ruhn wanted Flynn to be rejected, of course.
Muttering incoherently, Flynn began to set up the guides for where the line would be. Ruhn joined him as Dec started the lift to get Tharion and Ari to the top.
Soon enough everything was set up and they were letting the skiers waiting onto the lift. And then it was business as usual. The resort filled up over the first hour, until the line at the lift was averaging at least five minutes. Ruhn and Flynn did their best to organize the line and help people onto the lift as needed.
"Delay on top. Estimated ten minute solve time." Declan's voice crackled over the old walkie talkies they all held just after the lift screeched to a sudden stop.
So close. They were so close to lunch and making it through the morning without incident. Ruhn groaned internally, knowing he had to keep on a calm, composed face.
"Why'd it stop?" a teenaged boy whined from halfway down the line.
"Just a small technical issue," Ruhn explained. It was always the answer, no matter the case. Unless Dec called them in to tell them something big had happened, the answer was 'a small technical issue'. "We'll have it up and running as soon as possible. And we do have two other lifts that lead to other runs, if you'd rather not wait." He pointed behind him toward where he could just see the first of the two lifts in the distance.
The boy let out an exaggerated sigh but remained in line. There was always one.
A chorus of giggles sounded behind him and Ruhn looked back to see Flynn making good use of the delay. He stood on the other side of the guides from a group of four girls who looked to be about twenty. He watched Flynn say something he couldn't quite make out and then the group laughed again. Two blondes and two brunettes, and far too many for Flynn to handle on his own.
Ruhn sauntered over to them and slapped Flynn on the back as he gave the girls a half-smile he'd used many times when seeking out a new bedroom guest. "I do hope my friend here isn't bothering you, ladies. Blink twice if you need me to get rid of him." He threw a wink to the girl closest to him, a dirty blonde with deep, chocolate eyes that were watching his lip ring with intrigue.
The girls laughed again, Flynn joining them. It was one of the best things about his friend. He didn't take anything seriously, which included himself.
"Blink three times if you're perfectly happy chatting with me," Flynn added, nudging Ruhn out of the way.
"And four if you'd like me to stay. I'm Ruhn, by the way." He held out his hand and watched with satisfaction as the dirty blonde and chestnut brunette raced to take it.
The chestnut brown won. She slid her hand into his and said, "I'm Dahlia. These are my cousins, Chrysti, Calla, and Amber." As she spoke, she pointed to the dirty blonde who'd been staring at Ruhn first, then to the platinum blonde, and lastly the girl with dark brown hair with auburn highlights.
All four of the girls were beautiful, each with a dusting of freckles that seemed to be one of the few traits they all shared. Ruhn never would've known they were cousins without being told, and to be honest, he would've preferred they not be. It spoiled some of the plans he was starting to make in his head.
"Beautiful names for beautiful women." Flynn flashed them all a grin. "So, tell me, do you lovely ladies have plans tonight?"
"Nothing set in stone," the one named Calla replied, her bright hair shimmering in the light of the sun. Her ice-blue eyes were locked on Flynn as she gave him a feigned coy smile.
Flynn smacked Ruhn on the back just as Ruhn had him and then wrapped his arm over Ruhn's shoulder. "Great news! We're hosting a little party at our place. Some locals, some beautiful visitors. What do you all say?"
The girls all looked at one each other, their eyes flashing as if they were having an unspoken conversation.
"So long as you're both there, we're in," Dahlia replied, blatantly eyeing Ruhn. He probably should've been uncomfortable with the way she was trying to undress him with her eyes, but that wasn't his style. He'd much rather let her.
It really was the only perk of working in this place. The regular influx of snow bunnies visiting the mountain.
Well, that and the easy access to the ski slopes. And the chance to ski for work. If anyone ever started booking ski lessons at their resort again.
"I'll be sure to make you all a special drink. Maybe we c-"
"RUHN!"
The shout interrupted him, drawing his attention to a familiar colleague with waist-length, dark hair. Hypaxia was waving him toward her, which had Ruhn sighing loudly. "Pardon me, ladies. It seems I'm quite in demand." Sending one last crooked grin to them, he pivoted and jogged toward where Hypaxia was standing, a blonde beside her.
The woman, just a year or two younger than Ruhn, turned to face him, a pair of golden eyes freezing him in place and emptying his mind completely. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
"Ruhn," Hypaxia started, "we've got a new ski instructor starting today. I'm on vacation starting this afternoon, so you'll be training her."
He wasn't certain whether he should be thanking whatever deity was looking over him, or cursing the demon who was likely hoping he'd make a fool of himself. What did he know of training a newbie? He knew the ropes of the place, sure, but typically they leaned on Hypaxia or Declan for this. He'd just have to rely on his charm. It had never failed him before.
"This is Lidia Cervos."

by your side ! modern venti
For once, Xiao hadn't been looking for trouble, hadn't taken anything, hadn't injured himself, or otherwise done anything that would have caused his heart to act up like it usually did.
So why the hell did his chest hurt so much? And why did he feel all the usual signs to yet another heart attack? It's been happening nonstop lately, and usually he was able to just... Walk it off, but...
Suddenly, everything around him went black, and he fell to the floor with a soft thud, the glass he had been washing shattering on the ground next to him. He could hear his lover's frantic yell of his name, sounding like he was underwater, like Venti was far, far away, before fully losing consciousness.
The next time he woke up, he was at the hospital, hooked up to more machines than he could count, and judging by how he felt, he must've been out for at least two or three days, which sucked. His attention was quickly shifted from that to the warm feeling around his hand, and he glanced down, vision still blurry, only to see Venti's hand holding his own. "Ven...ti?" He called out, as if trying to confirm that it was indeed his lover, voice raspy and weak.

Hello Aria!😄👋🏼
Just saw your first post involving Elena and I'm happy to see that. She's one of my favorite minor character, but she grew on me for long time and she and her family deserved better. So here's my first Elena ask:
✉How would you include her in your story? Like being revived or going back to the past to prevent her death at Sirius hands? How will it play out?
Evi, hello!! Precisely who I was hoping to see when I made that post, hehe. Thank you very much for your ask - I'm really glad you like her as a character! ^-^
At the moment, the way I'm handling my story with Elena is using an AU, which I'm currently calling the "early arrival AU". The main thing that's different in this AU is that my self-insert Adriana arrives in the Reborn region about fifteen years earlier than the normal version of events (where she arrives at the very start of the game on the train). However, she's still the same age as in normal circumstances - it's just that she arrives way earlier in Reborn's own timeline of events.
After Adriana arrives in Reborn, she meets Elena, who is of course still alive at this point, and quickly grows to admire her a lot because of her status as a Ghost-type specialist (especially since Adri's home region of Kalos doesn't have one, but it's the type that she herself specialises in), as well as generally for being such a powerful Pokémon Trainer. The details still need work of course, but the two end up becoming very close as time passes, eventually becoming a romantic couple. Elena does not get killed off in this AU, but I'm considering having Borealis target her somehow (I'll elaborate on that later in this post), so she can't continue in her Elite Four position, and that's why Heather takes it over instead.
In terms of how this would affect the game itself.. this post is getting long, so let me put it the rest under a readmore.
Regarding how the game itself plays out, Adriana would be the Ghost-type Gym Leader in this AU instead of Shade, so she is the one the player (who still gets to Reborn at the same time as normal) battles, although they might still have to go talk to Shade to get the door open. She would have the Gym in the Beryl Ward (since.. it's right by the graveyard and also the one that's highest-up, both of which are references to Elena), and be battled on the Dark Crystal Cavern Field. I don't really know how to tie Adriana into a story role here, but this is what I have for the moment. She does also become the Ghost-type Gym Leader in normal events (i.e. in the version of events where I use her to selfship with Luna), but that happens after the postgame instead there.
Regarding Corey in this AU, I think I might make his character revolve more around being Borealis and possibly leave his love for Elena as unrequited and he gets jealous because of that? And this is why he becomes recruited into Team Meteor as an underling of Sirius, to get the Ruby Ring back off of Elena, which I thought would keep his actions and personality similar to how they are in the game normally (though maybe he does actually just get arrested instead of his normal in-game fate). He still has the interest in poison, but maybe this time it's because of Sirius teaching him about it, and he turns it on Elena instead in this AU (ironic, I know) which is why she's then out of commission as an Elite Four member by the time the player gets there. However, she doesn't die.
Heather still exists in this AU, although I guess she's also my daughter now, and she can still retain the same kind of "wanting to defeat evil and make her own way in the world" I think, though this time it's not out of a "my dad is too overprotective I want to get away from him" thought process, but maybe more of a "I want to get back at the people who keep targeting my mum and get strong like she is" thought process.
I hope that all of that makes sense! Thank you very much again for your question - I suppose to give it more of a concise answer, it's that she doesn't get revived or brought forwards in time but instead just is never killed off in the first place in my AU ^-^

Strawberry Skys - Chapter Eleven - Gray Fur and Birthday Dreams
[Prev] - [First] - [Next]
date: 2005/03/03
Lou held only one turtle in his arm, the one in orange cloth, as his other hand was holding a mutant turtle’s hand. The mutant turtle held the other two freshly mutated turtles, an angry red scab forming on her face. her light red dress was torn at its base, leaving a ragged edge. Dried blood was making home on her already scared and maimed shoulder.
Lou looked at his own ruined and blooded clothing, the whites and blues of his nexus uniform torn and turning brown with dried blood. The orange of the phoenix on his shoulders seemed to mock him as they led the small group of turtles down the dirty New York streets and alleyways.
The biggest of the turtles, still only reaching his hips, was beginning to limp as the pair moved down the dark street; her claws hand digging into Lous.
“We can stop for the night ya know.” Lou spoke as quietly as he could, bending slightly.
The turtle glared at them.
Lou huffed and shook their head. “If you don't want to stop, tell me their names.” Lou nodded at the turtles they held.
The turtle gave a few grunts and a hiss, then pointed at the one in his hand and made a growling sound. Then pointed to herself and huffed.
Lou stared blankly. “Child.. I didn’t understand a word of that.” he stated bluntly as they spotted his target.
“Onix.” The turtle pointed at themselves before repeating the sounds made at each of the others.
“That’s..” Lou sighed and stopped. “All I got from that was your name.”
The turtle let out a growl, one Lou was only partly sure wasn't a word. He huffed and crouched down, poking at the manhole cover. Maybe not the best, but it would be good enough for a few days. then he would get them somewhere better. He had too.
———
Date: 2005/11/15
Lou put the big box down, filled to the brim with stolen blankets and clothing. He sighed as he looked around the small room. The small space was an abandoned subway control station, tall gray walls now covered with torn and dirty curtains. He had covered the gray walls so the kids would have some cooler in their lives.
The room had a small kitchen that he had managed to stock with canned food and some old and busted pans.
The space was smelly and covered in mold and rot. Small brown mushrooms and moss grew on the floor, algae growing in the small crevices in the floor that had filled with water. The only good thing about it was the already running electricity and water.
He sighed and pulled out the biggest blanket and laid it out on the ground before pulling another out and laying it on top of the first. Standing, he pushed some of the clothing aside and pulled out the third and final blanket.
Lou put it on top of the first two and turned back to the box. With some hesitation he pulled all four off the hoodies he had stolen and lay them onto the ground before pulling the long brown robes out and putting them next to the hoodies.
Next to his robes lay the worn red hoodie, one sleeve missing. The back was scuffled up and with the pocket torn, it wouldn’t do any good to any human. Blue and Purple hoodies lay next to the red one, both dirty but fine otherwise. And finally an orange one ment for babies. It was brand new, one he had dared steal straight from a store.
Lou brought one clawed and scaled hand down over his face, forcing himself to take a deep breath before letting his hand fall back to his side. He curled his tail around his leg, keeping it out of the way as he walked. He would never really understand how Onix could walk so easily with her tail, but she had had it long before he had his.
Lou walked up to the secondary room, gently tapping on the wall before he pulled the curtain aside.
Three of the turtles were curled up, fast asleep as they had been for the last few weeks. He had only had the kids for a few weeks before they fell asleep, so safe to say he was stressed when the younger three had been asleep for so long.
Onix, the oldest and biggest, the one he had been forced to drag out of the burning lab, was curled protectively around the three. The snapper growled at him until she saw him fully, slowly stopping and raising her head.
“I got some blankets and clothing, hopefully that will help.” Lou knelt down next to his daughter, gently putting the back of his paw against her forehead to feel for any sign of fever.
“It might.” Onix let him fuss over her for a few moments before she pulled away. “They might be asleep for a long time.”
“They will not die.” Lou growled. “I will not let them.”
Onix just remained silent, picking up the twins and letting him take the youngest.
She let him lead to the pile of blankets, then helped him put the warn hoodies on the twins. Lou got the twins all wrapped up as Onix put little Mikey in their new hoodie and got them tucked in as well.
Lou let the snapper fuss over them as he went over to the little kitchen and pulled out two cans. He turned on the stove and looked at little Leo, the small slider not even flinching at the smell of the gas like she normally did. Little Donnie made no movement to hiss at the stove, the gas having dared make the grave error of insulting the soft shell's twin.
Onix was sitting next to them, her dark silver-green eyes looking over all three. Her hands were scratching at each other, dark scales covered in dozens of small green scars.
“Onix, want to help with this?” Lou offered, his only way of stopping the snappers' habit of picking and scratching.
The snapper looked up and nodded, slowly getting up as she glanced back at the turtles once more before making her way to him. she pulled up the stool and stood on her claws as she grabbed at two bowls.
“See if we have any bread?” Lou dumped the can of beans into the pot, stirring them around picking up the can of corn.
He heard shuffling and muffled yokai curses as Onix got onto the counter to look properly. The mutant got back onto her stool with a grumbled Japanese insult. Lou choked back a laugh as he heard his daughter growl at the bread.
“What’s wrong with it?” Lou put the corn down and looked at the bag of bread.
“Can smell rot.” Onix grumbled and started to pull pieces out to look at and sniff each slice.
Lou hummed and tiled his head. The entire pace smelled of rot. He left the snapper to it as he started to divvy up the beans. He hissed as he realized that he had made more food the two would eat.
He jumped as Onix let out a loud and angry yell, tossing the very much moldy bread at the wall. Lou sighed and turned the stove off so he could kneel next to the snapper.
Gently he put his paw on Onixs black, scratching between her spikes. Onix sniffled before burying her face in his shoulder. Lou just huffed and picked up the not-so-small mutant and began to divide the beans into two servings instead of five. Though normally they would also have bread and some form of fruit so he supposed it was ok.
Lou grunted as he picked up both of the bowls and kept the snapper from sliding out of his grip as he walked to the pile of blankets. Lou bent, putting the bowls down before he shifted to sit properly and set Onix down.
“Let’s eat, child. We can go get more tomorrow.” Lou gently rubbed the back of Onixs head, earning a small huff and churr from the turtle.
“Ok.” the snapper huffed, angry tears on her cheeks.
Lou gave her a sad smile, beginning to eat as the other three remained asleep.
———
Date: 2006/10/16
Onix put her box on the counter, just out of reach of small hands. Lou was at the stove, mixing a pot of broth and meat as he held a sleepy mikey. The twins were rough housing on the blankets in the main space. Onix scrambled to sit on the counter, grinning at mikey.
The small box turtle waved at her with a tiny hand and Onix churred as she pulled plates and bowls out of the cabinets.
“Get a cup for Mikey please.” Lou spoke, getting a ladle out.
Onix clicked in response and pulled out the one small cup they had, putting it next to the four other bowls.
Onix slid off of the counter as Lou stirred the food, all one handed as Mikey begged for attention. The twins ran over as they saw their dad serving food.
“Dad!” Leo grabbed at Lous robes, a grin on her face.
“Hello Leo.” Lou hummed, grabbing Mikey's cup and Donnie’s bowl in one hand. Onix grabbed the others as she followed Lou.
Lou moved to sit on the blankets, Donnie and Leo flocking to their side as Onix sat near by. Both of the twins began to talk, both wanting attention and food.
“Alright.” Lou spoke above the twins' chatter. “Today is a special day.”
Everyone quieted down.
“Today, Leo, Donnie, is for you.” Both of the twins looked up with stars in their eyes.
“Today is your hatching day, or as humans call it, your birthday.” Lou spoke gently now, not needing to project over the noise. “Every year, on this day, you become one year older. That means we celebrate.”
“Every year?” Leo looked up inwonder, her tail wagging. Donnie shared the look.
“Yes every year.” Lou smiled at them. “For now it will just be some food and a gift for each of you.”
“Gifts?” Leo's grin got even bigger.
“Yes, and you two will get them after we eat.” Lou laughed, both of the twins starting to chatter again as they ate.
As soon as Mikey had taken the last sip of his soup, the twins shot up and started to nag Lou for the gifts that had been promised. Lou huffed and pointed at the boxes on the counter, out of the twins' reach.
“Onix, please go get it?” The snapper clicked at him again.
Onix returned quickly, clicking and speaking in her language as she set down the box. her tail moved to stop one twin as her hand stretched out to block the other.
“You have to wait.” Onix huffed, then looked up at Lou.
Lou coughed into his hand, getting the younger turtles attention. “Right..” He sighed and put Mikey down. “In Yokai tradition, kappa, or turtle mutants in your case, are given their true names at two years.”
Leo and Donnie looked at him, heads tileded.
“Why?” Both of the twins chirped, then glared at each other.
Onix giggled. Lou rolled his eyes. Mikey babbled in Lous lap.
“It’s tradition. Same as birthdays.” Lou said gently.
All three of the younger turtles seemed to accept it, as Mikey babbling quieted down and both of the twins nodded.
Lou gently picked Mikey up, handing them to Onix before picking the twins up and putting them on his lap.
“Leo,” Lou gently tapped the slider's snout. “Your name will be Skylark, fast, strong and playful.”
Skylark yelled as she threw her hands in the air, almost hitting Lou in the snout. Onix grinned as MIkey babbled from her lap.
Lou put one hand on Skylark, stifling the sliders excitement as they turned to Donnie, who was looking up at him with big eyes.
“And you, Donnie, will become Violet. a force to be reckoned with, but also gentle and smart.”
Violet began to softly repeat the name, a big grin on their face.
Lou turned back to Oixand Mikey. “We still have gifts to give, yes?”

Onix stretched, her tail curling around her. Lou walked past, small bag in hand, gaving her a head pat.
She stuck her tongue out at him and the man chuckled. She huffed and began to follow, trailing behind them as they walked into the new space.
People had gotten too close to their old home, so Onix and Lou had been made to pack up their entire home and sleeping turtles in the middle of winter. They had been lucky and found a new place, getting it cleaned and warm for her little siblings.
Now, a few weeks after they moved, and a few days after the others had woken up, it was time to celebrate Mikey’s second year.
Onix grinned as Mikey ran up to them, clicks and chirps escaping them as the twins ran to join the turtle pile.
Onix grinned and picked Mikey up, shoo-ing the twins to the mat in the middle of the room.
“You three know what today is?” Lou was sitting down, tail tip flicking as he spoke.
“What?” Sky ran to Lou, attempting to peek in the bag. Violet followed slowly, holding Onixs hand as she held Mikey up.
“It is Mikeys birthday. And, it’s their second one so they get a new name.” Lou lifted the bag out of Skys reach, a soft smile on his face as Sky huffed and puffed.
Onix handed Lou Mieky as she pulled Sky close, violet already in hand.
“Mikey, you will become Haru. you will be our little sun, and bring us joy and light.”
Haru cheered, clicking and chirping as the others joined in.
