Pearl passed away from old age :( The whole family misses her, especially Kirk

Henry was so good. He was so good and caring and sweet, and he was left utterly alone. He was sent to the wolves with no backup or protection, and he fought back anyway. He tried so, so hard, right up until the very end. He wanted so badly to be normal and loved.

He was a huge comic book nerd. He was going to be in the school play. He got along well with other children, even if they thought he was weird.

None of the animal deaths were of his own free will. He was petting and playing with Claudia’s cat before the shadow swooped in. He would hang out near the lab rat container when Brenner was being mean to him and pspspspsp at the rats. He fights so hard not to hurt the inmate they put in there for him to kill/feed on, and only slips when Brenner antagonizes him to the point where I’d call it psychological torture. He didn’t want to do any of that.

He didn’t kill the lab staff in his initial escape, even though he could have. Henry spares one of the doctors when the doctor assures him he’s not going to hurt him, when he tells Henry he has a daughter at home waiting for him, and that he’s just following orders.

Henry and El both spare lab staff. Henry spares that doctor the exact same way El spares Ray Carroll.

He tries so hard to protect people, to save them. He tries so hard to protect Patty, to warn her to run away so that she stays safe. He doesn’t even hurt Brenner in any lasting way.

The only person he killed because he wanted to was Virginia, but even then it was only after he found out that she sold Patty out as the person “holding [Henry] back from his full potential” (read: stopping him from fully merging with the shadow and giving Brenner access to Dimension X), that Virginia wanted to abandon him to Brenner completely. So not only was she complicit in the planned attack on Henry’s best and only remaining friend, but she also handed Henry over to Brenner on a silver fucking platter.

About: Below is an excerpt from my twst fanbook! It's still unedited and a work in progress, but I thought it'd be nice to share these as sneak peeks! Fanbook concept: surrounding the theme of 'isekai', the fanbook will contain long oneshots focused on each of the twst dorms! Each dorm will have their own novel/manhwa concept. The main idea is that Reader is from another world and dropped in, either as themselves or taking the form of a character already existing in that world. In this excerpt, we have Heartslabyul! There won't be a direct romance in these oneshots, but I'll do my best to give each guy screentime - as Riddle is a significant character here though, he might have more presence in the overall plot. If you would like to be alerted when I finally open preorders for this fanbook, feel free to reply to this post asking to be tagged! Hopefully I'll be able to open them sometime in November 2023.

“What are we going to do…?” You say more to yourself than the brown rabbit, petting its head. Its soft fur calms you a little. “If I’m Alice, that means the rest of the characters might be out there too.”

In the story, Alice used to be the childhood friend of Riddle Rosehearts, who was placed under intense pressure as the crown prince of the kingdom. Somewhere along their youth, Alice—the child of an old noble house—mysteriously disappeared during one of their playdates. Ever since, the thorns that surrounded Riddle’s life only tightened more as he grew.

Eventually, he started to blame things on the inadequacy of others once he became the ‘perfect’ image of a ruler. Knowing how strict the ruling Queen is, you don’t doubt his mother was a large part of this development—but at the end of the day, Riddle’s actions could only be held accountable to himself.

By the time Alice reappeared in the kingdom, it was too late for them to convince Riddle about the errors of his ways. As his tyranny went on, and the day of the crowning ceremony drew near… Alice begrudgingly joined the rebel forces in the Rose Kingdom to overthrow the crown. They’d hoped to simply free Riddle by the end, but his unexpected outrage and severity led to a final battle that ended with his death. In the arms of the knights and the protagonist, his face finally relaxed into one of the small smiles he’d wear as a child—tentative of the expression, but cautiously hopeful.

But looking at your appearance now, it seemed like 'Alice' was younger than you recall from the story.

Perhaps this meant you still had the chance to right those missed chances, and bring the story to a close that isn’t bathed in crimson petals.

Just what happened between the time ‘you’ were missing, which pushed Riddle to such lengths of perfection?

Were the knights Trey Clover and Cater Diamond already in service?

And what of Ace Trappola and Deuce Spade?

Heaving out a sigh, you surprise the rabbit by shifting your legs so that you could lay with your back against the ground. There were too many things to do, and too many questions about how you found yourself here.

Would that be too anticlimactic of a greeting? Perhaps you should simply pretend to faint at the city’s border. You think that’s how Alice was found anyways, dramatic protagonist they were.

-Ursula accidentally kills Flotsam and Jetsam in the movie so WOW

-Disney wiki refers to Ariel’s cave of treasures as a “grotto” so I’m thinking “Ashengrotto” is a play on Ariel’s stuff getting destroyed by her dad lol

-Jetsam and Flotsam’s powers come from their eyes so I headcanon that Floyd’s signature spell comes from his eye like Jade’s does, but I need to replay the part where his spell is explained

-Floyd gorging himself on strawberries for a shortcake the Mostro Lounge was making could be a reference to a children’s book where Flotsam and Jetsam decide to ruin a garden by eating all the flowers and get stomach aches

-Jade’s ability only working on vulnerable people may be a reference to the eels plotting to offer Ursula’s deal to Ariel at a time when she’s vulnerable, i.e. after her cave is destroyed by her dad

-Ursula eats shrimp so that’s how Floyd sees MC lol

-Riddle’s backstory with his mom could be a reference to Alice having an older sister that tries to tutor her and wants her to be proper. Obviously Alice isn’t the Queen of Hearts but everything in Wonderland comes from Alice’s imagination so it’s partially stuff from her own life

-(not about TW) Is the white rabbit a drug addict? Why are his eyes red?

-Alice says the “drink me” potion tastes like a cherry tart.

-The mad hatter tells ‘riddles’ (“why is the raven like a writing desk?” like shut UP, it’s not a riddle if you don’t know the answer)

-That one Deuce chat where he says Ace pranked him by saying his clock was two days slow is something the mad hatter said to the white rabbit

-It’s weird that Trey is Riddle’s vice housewarden because ‘Tre’ is one of the cards that loses his head (Ace, Deuce, Tre). I would think his name would be different and he’d represent the heart or spade cards which were more loyal.

-Riddle saying “speak up and don’t twiddle your thumbs” (or something) during lessons is a reference to the Queen of Hearts telling Alice this when they met

-Riddle’s horse is named Vorpal which is the name of the sword that Alice uses in the live action movie. It’s originally from a Lewis Carrol poem called “Jabberwocky”

-I just noticed Riddle and Floyd’s pet peeves basically describe each other lmao

Okay this is going to be a long ramble because I have a lot to say. This was another of my very early twst oc ideas that I never did anything with at first. I think around a year ago, I saw that an artist that I admire draw their version of the white queen in twst and I had to try to make a character from the same inspiration. The reason that I'm still not happy with his name is just that I put a lot of thought and meaning / symbolism into my characters' names. I wanted his initials to be "V" and "C" because of the vorpal sword and because of Lewis Carroll. This was the best combination that I've come up with so far, but I'll almost definitely change it if I think of something better. The vorpal sword is also the inspiration behind Victor enjoying collecting knives, and the scene in the 2010 movie where the white queen makes a potion to return Alice to normal size is the inspiration behind the random potion making and testing. Except Victor has no method behind the madness. He just throws whatever he has into a caldron and so be whatever happens. He lost his right arm in an accident when he was very little and has a prosthetic arm that looks like blue and white porcelain (I'm going to add an image of what I mean at the end). Victor is also albino. I have a hair style that I think suits him, but I have no idea what it's called. I'll put this first in the images, and I'd be grateful if someone could tell me what it's called. I'm trying to learn about black hair and hairstyles so I can properly draw some of my characters, but I'm still far from knowledgeable. As far as clothing ideas go, I really want to lean in to the impractical doll clothes vibe with his dorm leader outfit, there's also a little bit of a carnival vibe but Idk how to properly express what I mean. I found an image of doll shoes on Pinterest while looking for inspiration and I love them so much and I'm definitely making the part of his outfit. The heel of the shoe is an hourglass and I'm so obsessed with that design. Well I though that I'd have more time to talk, but I don't so I'm cutting myself off here.

Thing is, both soulmates need to be born for them to appear. Dream of the Endless thought he didn’t have a soulmate, until a puppy appear near to him while meditating. On Earth, at the same moment, it is the year 1356 and Robert ‘Hob’ Gadling is just born. When he’s 10, he got the poshest, biggest black kitten with a very mean streak. Of course, neither Dream nor Hob see themselves in the other’s pet.

Epilogue: The (many) changes that one little surprise can make.

How having a soulmate and an animal companion changed things for the Endless and Hob.

Things weren’t perfect but they were good.

Let’s begin with Destiny. Everything began with Destiny. 200 years after Dream got out of the fishbowl, his soulmate was born. His companion was a snake-like creature with iridescent scales and 4 eyes the colour of amber named Rainbow. His soulmate (an historian, Mere-phre) was from a planet far from Earth were people could change their gender to adapt to the situation, their companion was a spider named Fatalis.

Death’s soulmate was born a long time ago but they couldn’t met until 2054. Indeed, Death’s soulmate was Hestia, Goddess of Hearth and Home. Death’s companion was her goldfish, Slim. Hestia’s companion was another goldfish named Wandsworth. The two fishes shared an aquarium and their companions, Death’s home. When Death got home, she felt the tension wash away just because of Hestia’s presence.

Dream, the Morpheus version of him, didn’t die. Daniel was always meant to be his successor but now, they could do things at a quieter pace. It was 10 years after the Corinthian was remade that a companion appeared for both him and Daniel. Corinthian had a ram named Cream Puff and Daniel had a wolf named Hunter.

Destruction’s soulmate was a French preschool teacher named Adelaïde Beaubois. When they met, Adelaïde thought his art was his son’s art. It was very awkward but she invited him to teach painting and colours to the 3 to 4 year’s old kids once a week. They absolutely loved him. It wasn’t long before he got an official contract.

Desire’s soulmate, Unity, lived in the Dreaming, after sacrificing herself instead of her dear Rose. She was close enough to Desire’s realm they can meet often. Sugar, the fox met Peacock, the Dove.

Despair’s soulmate was born the 19th January of the year 1809 and was one of Dream’s protegé. His name was Edgar Allan Poe. Despair was surprised when a baby raven appeared near her but she loved Melancholy. Edgar has a very smart rat named Gloom.

Delirium’s soulmate came from a planet not so different of Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland. She was absolutely smitten with Folly, her white rabbit and Liddell, her soulmate, a metamorph, had a wolpertinger named Hat.

Do you remember that Calliope had a raven has a companion (whose name is Luka)? Well, apparently, it was because she had a Raven (or ex-raven really) as a soulmate. Dear Lucienne, who had a hummingbird named Lyra.

They lived and had adventures and reunions and children. But this is another story.

finally found an mp3 for one of the cleaning books i've been putting off, kc davis' how to keep house while drowning. three chapters in and it's already disparaging both konmari AND bullet journaling and the eye-rolling rage that induced in me woke me up from where i was nodding off while listening to davis

this is my like number 1 pet peeve, when cleaning/self-help/mental health or whatever books put down a different system to tout their own as better. it's the exact reason i've been putting off reading this book

it doubly pisses me off because davis not only boils konmari down to, "marie kondo says to tri-fold your underwear," as if the literal thesis of her method isn't already spelled out for you in her books' titles, but also adds bujo to the mix while tacking on shit about "self-help gurus undermining the physical, mental and economic privileges they hold" as if ryder carroll hasn't talked extensively about inventing thw bullet journal in order to manage his ADHD

I've been thinking about how the dog world loves the phrase "big feelings" and in the last few years has really focused on the category of loud, reactive, explosive dogs and how best to manage and care for them. And as someone with a reactive dog, that all made sense to me, and I was able to find resources for helping temper those "big feelings" when they emerged.

And then I got a different dog, a dog whose feelings are actually quite small, whose feelings are very subtle and hard to pinpoint. And how basically all of last year I felt like I was floundering because I couldn't find resources for dogs with small feelings and I couldn't work out how to help my dog. She clearly had difficulties with some parts of the world, but because her feelings were quiet and small and subtle it was so hard to figure out what was going wrong.

I feel much more at ease since finding Sharon Carroll's work, as she articulates so well the distinction I'm talking about, the "sensitive" dogs that need a totally different approach to the dogs with big feelings. I feel that in the last three months I've made a lot more progress than I did all of last year working out what my dog actually needs and how I can meet those needs.

I've also really reframed a lot of my thinking around general dog husbandry and made a concerted effort to focus on enrichment – now understanding that enrichment is basically all dog care, from training to feeding to exercising and beyond. Pet Harmony's Enrichment Framework has really helped me understand the difference between prescriptive and descriptive, and I think the changes I've made due to that have made a real difference in the lives of both my dogs.

Recently I came across a video of Marceline's training from 2021 and was surprised at how great it looked. Back then I felt on top of the world, like we were only going to go up and up and up. Then it all came crashing down last year and each new session seemed to get progressively worse. I wondered what it was that caused the decline. Was it because in 2021 I had a more experienced trainer helping me and in 2022 I was totally on my own? Was it because my training was actually always bad and it was always going to deteriorate over time until I made the changes I have made now? Was it because something happened in Marcie's maturation between ages 2 and 3? Was it because trialling too soon undid all the progress we made? I don't think I will ever know and I'm trying to be OK with that. What is important is to focus on what I am doing now, and be proud that I've made a lot of effort to improve things, and accept that I might not meet my goals with this specific dog and that's OK.

Dogs with small feelings matter too.

In Carroll Co., MD: 2nd URGENT PLEA!!!!!!!!!!!! Most SPECIAL & PERFECT Bonded Pair: "Polar" the Samoyed (10 Years & Blind) & "LoLo" the Shepherd (4 Years & Tripod): GREAT w/ EVERYONE!!!!! Carroll Co., MD Shelter!

Meet Polar (N/M, Samoyed mix 10 years) and LoLo (S/F, Germ Shep. mix 4years).

This duo has become very special to the staff here at the shelter. They originally came in as a temp housing with the owner between situations and never reclaimed. Animal Control stepped in and worked with the owner to get things prepared for their return home. One of our Animal Control officers fostered them for a bit of time (see pictures attached) before they returned home. During the foster stay they were exposed to other dogs, cats, farm animals, and children ages 2-13 years old. These two did great with EVERYTHING and adjusted well to each move. Unfortunately, after going home with their original owner, things changed and they were brought back to the shelter. The owner gave it another try but their lifestyle isn’t adequate with owning a pet.

Polar is nearly 100% blind and a 10 year old senior. Polar is a 4 year old tripod, very overweight shep. The shelter would love to not only get them into a rescue so their time in the shelter is minimal but we would love to keep this duo together as well.

Louis is one of two children born to Michael and Genie Thackery. His sister Alice and he were named for the Lewis Carrol series "Alice in Wonderland." Their pet cats were named Hattie and Catie for the Mad Hatter and Caterpillar. Hattie currently lives with Louis in his tiny apartment.

Louis, is usually called Lou by friends and co-workers. He only goes by Jack when he doesn't want someone to look him up. He's always been surprised when he gets called Jack all of a sudden.

Lou doesn't remember much of the past five years. He vaguely remembers when his family was in trouble after they almost lost their house due to a real estate scheme. The tiny apartment he rents instead of using the money he still isn't sure how he has is to keep that incase whatever he did to get it comes back to bite him in the ass.

Louis doesn't remember it but he has some songs that he'd been working on that has theme that aren't his normal vibe. He has little hazy pieces of memories and needs to know what he did over the past five years even if he doesn't like the answer.

When I created my Lies of P OC Alice, I tried to include as much as possible from the original 'Alice in the Wonderland'-Fairytale.

So let me share some details about her:

Name: I named her Alice Mary Carroll, so her first name is after the famous figure Alice and her last name being the last name of the authors pseudonym.

Her design: I tried to keep her natural hair color blond or at least light (Doesn't mean I don't love dark haired Alice from Madness Returns hehe). She has light blue eyes, a little to light to give of a lost feeling, something that makes them look empty. Her braided her has that little black ribbon at the end which I associate with Alice.

Her colors: She wears a lot of black and white combined with blue colors. Lighter once for when she is at the hotel and darker once for when she is out fighting as a stalker.

Companions: Alice has three puppets she build from scratch. White rabbit, cheshire cat and caterpillar. The first two are based on pets she used to have. White rabbit was an albino rabbit, a present from her parents to hopefully make their child stop asking for more attention and to support her ' nurturing ' side (wanted her to become a good wife). Cheshire cat on the other side was a present from a business partner from a country in the west, a maine coon cat who looked like he is smiling/smirking all the time. The caterpillar wasn't a pet but Alice first try of a wind-up puppet when she was younger. She later turned it's remaining parts into a puppet like the others.

Her family: Alice's parents are from a country in the north. Came to Krat because of their business. They have a clothing business, high quality products for the higher society. Always dressed in fine dark red, the Red 'Queen' and 'King'. Both of them don't show any affection or attention towards their daughter believing that hair living in such a "wonderland" made out of money and a position in a higher class is already enough. In return they expect her to become a fine young woman, a good wife and mother for her future husband and their kids. Trying to shape her after their desire. Alice once told Romeo and Carlo that her mother looks to her like the 'Queen of Hearts' after looking a poker card deck.

Alice hobbies: Like I said. Her family tried to shape Alice. But she has her own dreams. She loves mathematics, physics, engineering and the arts (hobbies which are really close to the author's profession and hobbies). Her dream was to become an inventor for things that make other happy, like kids toys.

Alice as in the past and present: The former Alice used to be a crybaby. Someone who was often afraid of talking about her feelings, wishes and dreams. But she was also really friendly, kind and sweet towards the people she cared for and who cared for her. Present Alice is different. She still shows kindness towards those she cares but her heart is cold when it comes to being... Really friendly and sweet. The events changed her. You could say since original Alice had a sister, this Alice also has one. Herself. I was going to wait to announce it, but whatever. Now I'm hyperfixated on it instead. 😅 So I'm gonna host my own tournament. I'm not making another blog for it and no submissions are accepted. Why's that?

Because it's a tournament of my Krystar OCs.

I decided that I really should sit down and design all my characters so I'm going to draw a headshot of everyone and then post a little information about them. If you like them and want to learn more about them, vote for them and I'll do an additional picture with even more information on their background. They're all characters in the Krystar series but could probably all use a little more fleshing out, so this is what I'm doing! (Because I don't have enough stuff I'm behind on already. What? No, my list isn't reaching the 700's. Psshhh!) So anyway, it'll obviously take a while since I have to draw everyone and write something up for them, but I'm hoping it also gets more people interested in all the characters I have for the story. (And pushes me to actually continue working on it.) Without further ado, here's the bracket I plan on doing.

No idea when I'll be able to start doing it, but I'll be posting one poll every day lasting a single day until we get through all of them. (Doing this so in case I get most of them done in a speedy enough time, I can start posting polls even if not all the pictures are done yet.) Looking forward to sharing all my characters with you, big and small! Oh, also, the information that will automatically be included this first round will be approximate age in Earth years, approximate height in imperial, and the book they first appear in (avoiding spoilers). Let me know if you want other basic info added. Not including birthdays except for the main three as those are the only ones I've picked them for.

Random easter egg: Rom v. Gerit actually happened in ASR Round 1! This was totally randomized. And, uh, Gerit totally wiped the floor with Rom.... 😅 We'll see how he fares this time. Hope to have this up soon!
