Rincewind was a coward and an unwitting clown, but he had several times saved the world in slightly puzzling circumstances. He was a luck sink, the Archchancellor had decided, doomed to be a lightning rod for the fates so that everyone else didn't have to. Such a person was worth all his meals and laundry (including an above-average level of soiled pants) and a bucket of coal every day even if he was, in Ridcully's opinion, a bit of a whiner. However, he was fast, and therefore useful.
"Look," said Rincewind, "a mysterious urn turns up and suddenly it's all about football. That bodes. It means something bad is going to happen."
"Come now, it could be something wonderful," Ridcully protested.
Rincewind appeared to give this due consideration. "Could be wonderful, will be dreadful. Sorry, that's how it goes."

Here’s some positivity for negative headmates and alters!
Not every aspect of plural life is peachy. Headmates can often seriously struggle with all sorts of issues, and should not be expected to be bright and cheery all the time. This post goes out to all the negative headmates and alters out there!
💔 Shoutout to headmates who struggle with self-harm or suicidal ideation!
👿 Shoutout to headmates who are intrutives or symptom holders for intrusive thoughts!
❌ Shoutout to headmates who are persecutors and are often seen as mean, unkind, or dour by others inside and outside their system!
💥 Shoutout to trauma holders who are often upset, depressed, scared, or angry!
💢 Shoutout to introjects of villains or people who did horrible things!
⛈ Shoutout to headmates who are pessimists or unable to have a positive outlook!
⛔️ Shoutout to headmates who struggle with self-hatred and self-loathing, or who don’t know how to be self-compassionate!
💣 Shoutout to headmates who are pursuing treatment even if they believe they’ll never be able to heal!
🔥 Shoutout to headmates who have harmed others in the past, but are trying to change for the better!
⚔️ Shoutout to disabled headmates who are tired of being paraded about as inspiration for others, and to those disabled headmates who are angry about societal ableism!
💧 Shoutout to headmates with emotional regulation issues who are prone to losing their tempers, “freaking out,” “blowing up,” or “flying off the handle!”
🤬 Shoutout to headmates who are victims of abuse, who are angry at the world and/or resent the idea of forgiving their abusers!
Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing inherently wrong with being negative. Your bad feelings are valid, and your negative thoughts are not an indication that you are a bad person or member of your system! You’re allowed to be angry, sad, jealous, terrified, or irritable. It’s okay to make mistakes and forgive yourself for them - no one can be perfect or nice all the time!
Please take some time to try and show yourself some kindness, even if it feels wrong or like you don’t deserve it (we can assure you, you do!). Even if it doesn’t feel like it, we want you to know that you matter, and you are an important and cherished member of your system and the plural community just the way you are. We are wishing you and your system peace, joy, and self-acceptance in your future!

QUOTES THAT MADE ME LOVE SOLITAIRE:
"Do you think, that if we were happy for our entire lives, we would die feeling like we'd missed out on something?"
"Some people aren't meant for school," says Michael. "That doesn't mean they aren't meant for life."
A thousand thoughts at once. Michael Holden is nine hundred of them. The rest are self-hatred.
"Happiness is the price of profound thought."
I don't want people to be worried about me. There's nothing to worry about. I don't want people to try and understand why I'm the way I am, because I should be the first person to understand that. And I don't understand yet. I don't want people to interfere. I don't want people in my head, picking out this and that, permanently picking up the broken pieces of me.
"Maybe you are a manically depressed psychopath." I freeze, stunned, wanting to be sick. "Fine." I turn around and go into the house and shut the door.

I have a tendency, when things are a little bad, to think they are the worst they could possibly be.

"You'd be well advised to stay along o' us," said Ghenghiz Cohen. "You'll be safer with us."
"Oh, I'm not sure about that," said Rincewind, grinning horribly. "I'm not sure about that at all."
By myself, he thought, only ordinary horrible things can happen to me.
