This is my first actual post that I personally wrote so... Pls don't judge

rating and reviewing BLs i have watched so far (unupdated as of april ‘23)

hi this is just a post that i wanted to include in my page but it was getting too long lmao. this is just like a list of all that i’ve watched so far, in order. i won’t be including their plots here, but there might be spoilers. these are just my opinions in case someone new wants to bond over shows and wants to know what i thought 🤌🏽

we best love (both seasons) - 10/10. first BL that i watched, lowkey changed my life. absolutely obsessed with it, comfort series that i keep rewatching. absolutely amazing acting by everyone involved.

history3: trapped - 8.5/10. tang yi. no words. beautiful acting and cinematography, the plot was handled pretty well and i was pretty much broken by the last episode. jack and zhao lian are my children. i’m still obsessed with the OST, i listen to it multiple times a week. just goes to show how much a good soundtrack can still keep a show in your mind even if you watched it months ago.

bad buddy - 1073392729/10. HOE MY GOD. where do i start. all i’ll say is i’ll never be the same, this series is IT for me. THE show for me. nothing will ever come close. one day i’m gonna meet p’aof and cry on my knees. i will never be able to put into words just how much this series means to me, or just how important it is to me, or just how influential this has been for my life. i’ll never be able to get over it.

2gether the series - 6/10. didn’t watch the second season because s1 was so disappointing even if i finished most of it in one night. brightwin are cute and all but they were giving brothers i’m sorry 💀 their chemistry just sizzled out halfway. and they both need acting lessons i’m sorry

love in the air - 9/10. fort thitipong simp forever. first show that i watched while it was ongoing. came for payurain, stayed for prapaisky. although it’s lowkey rapey (which is to be expected from mame) i loved how well they handled the characters

tharntype - 6/10. started because i had heard so much about it, but abandoned it halfway. aside from the dubious consent (again, mame, people can’t consent when they’re asleep), the internalised homophobia got too toxic

star in my mind - 7.5/10. joongdunk are adorable, but they could’ve done a little more with the plot. the Feels™️ were lacking a little bit. cute show overall though. and i’m one of the five people who will die on the hill that seanmaitee are canon and deserved an official kiss

semantic error - 8.5/10. first KBL that i watched, finished it in one day. very beautifully done, all the colour symbolism etc was interesting as hell. pretty cute, although i do wish we could’ve gotten more fluff

love mechanics - 8/10. saw a short on yt and was convinced about the angst. boyyyy was i wrong, it was so much more angsty than i thought. highkey toxic and unhealthy too, but i’ll let it go. forever simping over p’bar. the parents angle was annoying but eh. i will say though, i had to take a lot more breaks while watching than usual, it became too much at points. we did get a little fluff at least though so

my tooth your love - 9/10. yes i hate the title. very very nicely done, the perfect representation of how trauma affects you even when you’re older and just how much it holds you back. convos about mental health, therapy, not letting your lover treat you like shit, AAAAA 🤌🏽🤌🏽 finished this in one day too. they didn’t magically have a moment where they forgave each other and kissed after confessing. they both worked to prove they were in this for the long run, and xun’an didn’t hesitate to hold bai lang accountable for being a jerk. really breaking all the BL barriers sjdhsjh 😭😭 the only part that annoyed me was his dad beating him up like hello?? he’s 30?? 💀💀 fucking vile. but bai qing is an icon and i love her and i would die for her. simp for alex speaking in english randomly. him and rj deserved more scenes and they need to be canon now!!!!!

roommates of poongduck 304 - 7.5/10. i had heard SO much about this so i had high expectations but i was kind of let down, i mean we really only got them together in ep 7. the chemistry, acting and side characters were great but tbh i feel like i’d have loved this a lottttt more if it had been a little spaced out, more episodes, had better conflict resolution and just better overall detailing. still a cute watch though

currently watching:

never let me go - this series is going to break me, i already know. phenomenal acting, symbolism and cinematography. every wednesday you can find me crying because it is just so excellent, the brainrot is real. can’t wait for more episodes

my school president - OBSESSED with them for real. they’re the toned down version of bad buddy, which i have proven in a post. can’t wait for them to be their high school’s power couple. very very wholesome

The Lost Boys: Their Favorite Old-World Foods

Marko:

The little Italian stallion <3333

I HC him as growing up in inner Florence, Italy, during the artistic revolution. He was fairly elite/in high demand as a model

Basically, a brat with an ego

Still despite rubbing shoulders with the greats, he loved to come home to his family’s little city house and eat his mamma’s cooking

I think Marko’s favorite ‘old world’ dish is Garmugia: a simple springtime soup with cured pancetta, lima beans, scallions, and all sorts of other green veggies

It’s not fancy or especially delicious at all. But I think the smell, the taste, would make him freeze up, flooded with memories

and maybe for a second he’d stop being a feral, combative, snapping undead animal, and you’d catch a glimpse of the athletic young human from centuries ago

Dwayne:

My personal HC for Dwayne is he got put in a residential school for native Americans at a young age, basically ripped away from his family

He probably escaped, hightailing it out at around 16, and then survived alone on the streets of early 1800s colonizer cities with the rest of the dredges of society

(Which to me gives him a very strong “I fucking hate capitalism I truly hate this country and deep down I do genuinely want to see this broken system burnt to the ground, also FUCK cops” mentality)

I think Dwayne’s most memorable old-world food would be Gingerbread. Not the gingerbread we know: a soft, cake-like bread flavored with molasses, ground ginger, and cinnamon. Very dark and not very sweet

He worked odd (and illegal) jobs to stay alive and when winter rolled around street vendors would sell big hot slices of the stuff

Bringing him some real, legit circa-1810-gingerbread would probably make him remember the far-distant, little moments of actual joy he had in his human life

AND you’d probably be able to convince him to actually talk about his past for once

Paul:

Country boyyyy, I love youuuu

In my mind Paul is rural midwest, late 1800s when the industrial revolution was really kickin’ off and the cities were poppin (with drugs and alcohol lmao)

He was probably raised on a farm & did farmwork most of the time. Picture him in a low ponytail and work duds, pitching hay. That was probably for the best because that dude 100% has dyslexia and a math learning disability

But oooooh he was prettyyyyy and he knew it: I think Paul eventually ran away from his family’s farm and basically became a partyboy in a big city, like New York, and was changed there

I think Paul’s favorite old-world food is (brace for the cliche) Apple Pie!

Probably a rare treat his momma and sisters would cook up in the autumn and winter: smelling a good, home-style pie now makes him think of barefoot evening sitting on the farmyard porch, listening to cicadas

Unrelated, but I think Paul- that’s right, partyboy druggie bonerboy Paulie- still remembers how to tie a hog

David:

I have conflicting thoughts abt this motherfucker

His backstory HC for me is still a little elusive, but I have some basic details for him

He comes from a pretty fucked-up biological family (probably a crazy-abusive dad and absent mother), was 100% drafted in a war at some point (I suspect the civil war), and 100% deserted his station in that war. Out of cowardice, fear, or distain, I don’t know.

I don’t think David really has a favorite food?? He’ll eat plain rice. Plain, oily noodles. Hard-tack biscuits. Literally anything like whatever it’s not his personal thing

David like drinking and smoking. I think David’s favorite old-world vice is Irish Whiskey. Again, not the drink we think of. A lot less refined, very rough and coarse: it was the most popular and easily-accessible spirit in the 1860s

I think it reminds him of ‘simpler times’: just him, alone, human, in a dingy old bar, getting the cheapest drink he can get, ducking his head to avoid being seen by military officials and wondering where he can run away to next

Give him a straight shot of Irish whiskey in an old-style enameled bar glass and it’s one of the only times he won’t be full-on Mansplain Manipulate Manwh0re: he’ll probably sit on a beachside bench with you, drinking in silence, watching the waves crashing far away. Lost in thought. Looking as old as he really is.

12. What's a Headcanon you have for this character?

Dante: He can't cook for SHIT. like as much as I love him (which is more then I will ever openly admit) bro can't make a sandwich or boil and egg so Vanica runs him out the kitchen with a wooden spoon. Also he can't drink. Homie is a lightweight and he hates that so much

Zenon: He really likes dancing! Though no one (except Allen) knows about it. Not even Vani and Dante. Plus he has a REALLY big sweet tooth, if their is a box of sweets in his field of vision he will leave nothing for the rest the siblings (this annoys Dante beyond belief )

Vanica: She is (somehow) a really great cook! She kicked Lucius out of cooking duty a month after she learned the basics. Dante has made the "Haha, your a woman and you cook" joke only once in his whole life because Vanica put rat poison in his food and uhhh it wasn't a nice experience. And she can sing too! Most of the time she acts like she can't just to annoy ppl

15. What's your favorite ship with this character? ( Doesn't matter if it's canon or not)

Dante: OHHHHHH BOYYYY UHHH. Sweet rat man, I love you (regrettably) but your ass is so fucking bitchless. The closest thing he has to a relationship is the fact that he is fuckbuddys with Lucifero, I won't count Yami x Dante as a ship bc it's literally just rat man being a weird ass mother fucker and getting his ass beat which is funny as shit. However I will say he is pansexual and he will get into a relationship with literally anything and anyone.

Zenon: There is only one correct answer. Allen x Zenon for LIFE. Because come on BC fandom that man is not attached to Wemon in any way, only thing he feels for them is fear bc of Vanica and his Mom. But moving on they are soulmate-coded and I will die on that, Golden retriever bf and Black cat bf

Vanica: Listen, all of Vanica ships are fucking soulmate coded ok??? (I'm dilulu shut UP) and I love them with my heart (except Vanica x Acier, not soulmate-coded but annoying cat x Tired mother of 4). I have three I would die for bc I am insane. 1) Vanica x Megicula and Vanica x Lolopechka really they give off SUCH old married couple energy I wanna DIE. 2) Vanica x Lolo x Gajah, it's the "We can fix her" mentality AND THEY SECSIDED THE MOTHER FUCKERS. Dante: My first impression was "OHHHH, he looks cool! (I also like the beard shot me) wonder what he can do" and now it's "Cring ass motherfucker pls stop being weird for the love of god (affectionately, I'm afraid), can you not have beef with an 18 year old?". Can you tell that I like him but wanna throw him of a clif?

Zenon: First impression "Emo boy, with a sad backstory incoming" I didn't care about bonehead at the start, I thought he had BANING magic but beyond that meh. last reblog boyyyy i know sometimes it's just venting more than an actual policy but i gotta say when i do see posts like the one referenced in that post, with the sentiment of "biden's (in)actions regarding gaza prove he is equally as bad as trump and therefore voting for him is equally immoral" drive me batty for so many reasons (many of which outlined in that post/notes) by other people but one that i just need to rant about is

do people not see the blatant similarities between trump and netanyahu

like ... it's not the ONLY reason for israel's atrocious actions here, but a major factor in things playing out as they have, in a way that does not satisfy either people who want peace (sane empathetic people) nor the bloodthirsty dudes on the far right in israel... is because netanyahu is trying to avoid criminal charges that are coming for him when the war ends and elections are held and he's put out of office??? so the only route for him to get his selfish gain... is to keep the war going forever??

does that remind you of anyone???

idk maybe ONE lesson we could take away from this horror show (among many) is that it's a fucking bad idea to let authoritarian criminals stay anywhere near the political conversation let alone (back) into the highest offices in the country?? because they will never fucking step away on their own, they will just keep fucking circling back and destroying more and more stuff, anything you let them get their hands on, it doesn't matter if they're "unpopular" in the country if they still get ELECTED. like you need continued fucking vigilant opposition against evil fucks like this or they WILL find illegitimate slimy ways back to to power simply to fuck up more things.

biden sucks in several ways, but he sucks about as much as any person who could realistically get elected president of the united states in this time, in our reality. the thing about the president of the united states is that the president of the united states AS A DIRECT CONSEQUENCE OF HOLDING THAT OFFICE is going to be someone who kind of sucks, because of what the united states is, and because of what you have to do/be willing to do to become the president of the united states. even if some other politician who generally is somewhat more closely aligned with my personal values WERE to be elected president, the sad thing is... they... would then take actions (or lack of action) in office that would be disappointing to me. that's... how it works. not saying someone like bernie wouldn't be better, i'm sure would be in a few notable ways, and yet, I do think in a world where bernie sanders was president, he would be heavily criticized for a number of decisions he made (or "had to make", depending how you view it) as president because the president does those things... the progressive, highly respected long-time senator from vermont does not have to do those things. the president is the commander in chief of the us army... I don't see myself ever truly loving or supporting the actions of the commander in chief!! but yknow what? that person leads my fucking country anyway and my tax dollars fund that wildly overfunded military whether i like it or not so I am still gonna fucking vote on who I would rather have in that position by who feels less harmful.

we could dream about a complete reform to our country or about tearing the united states down and building something "better" but like. none of that is going to happen, and it's certainly not gonna happen before 2025.

so yes, biden does suck, but also, biden is not actively trying to become a dictator, he's not running just to stay out of jail, he's not gonna burn the whole country down just as a temper tantrum. he may ALLOW the same slow crumbling and burning that's already well underway thanks to what the US is, the same that anyone who realistically would become US president would allow. and i will say with my full chest that i prefer the passive enabling to the active destruction.

i 100% get the frustration with feeling like trump is such a low bar to clear, i get the frustration with wishing there was another viable option. as someone who was first able to vote in the 2016 presidential election, I feel a lot of personal frustration in this regard! i have never had a chance to vote in a presidential election that didn't/won't have trump on the ballot! it's fucking infuriating! also, biden was really not who i wanted to be the candidate in 2020! he was probably my last choice (out of the semi realistic candidates). but here we are. and... abstaining or protest voting (in the general election - to be clear I totally support doing that to send a message in primaries) won't solve that problem!

acting like biden and trump are equivalent is just childish to me tbh. feeling anger and frustration about these being the choices we have is totally valid, and yes there are other meaningful choices IN ADDITION to this one - voting in all other elections, protesting, activism, etc. but specifically regarding the Choice Of How To Engage With The 2024 US Presidential Election, for people who have the right to vote in this election, I think it is fucking stupid and childish to pretend like this choice doesn't matter, that there won't be meaningful differences/consequences.

tbh I'd still take a kid case over a normal filler case bc the normal filler cases are just SO boring. like back in the day there were even filler episodes in the anime which were more interesting than the manga cases nowadays. - - - but tbh kid cases also start to annoy by now bc of a) amouro. like wtf has a bo member/undercover agent to do w kid cases?? and b) HOW HAS NO ONE MENTIONED SONOKO'S UNCLR SO FAR? bc boyyyy I dislike him and it has become a pain in the ass to always have this old fart included in every damn kid case. like he's way too old to be that obsessed and be involved all the time. give me a break.

so overall, i prefer kid cases over the normal boring cases nowadays (since let's be honest even if it wasn't a kid case, we wouldn't have got an actual plot relevant case. we'd have just got a normal filler case again) but only if they are as good as the old kid cases again. I mean no honesty, remember all the old iconic kid cases? or even the cases that weren't really a kid case but he randomly appeared (like that amateur magician meeting or the gathering of all top detectives??) iconic.

but I guess kid cases could only become good again if the overall manga (cases) became good again - - which I don't see happening as long as gosho only does fanservice and follows what his label tells him. or perhaps it's also him just struggling coming up w anything good by now since having to come up w great cases for 26 years must be difficult, creativity wise. whatever it is, it sucks and he should rather finish it than ruining my fave manga/anime of all time.

(like they show the episodes up to 480 here on tv and I never get tired to rewatch them over and over again bc of how amazing they were. even the filler episodes!! the manga/anime nowadays can't relate... also bc of the anime's ugly style by now let's be honest)

I would prefer it if he actually decided to draw Magic Kaito cases and continue HIS story rather than having him appear in Conan him being... Not himself.

Because you have to admit. The Kid we see in Conan is not the Kaito we want to see. Kid in Conan is just this empty facade that gives us absolutely nothing. And I'm not talking about the dc plot like I was before. I'm not referring to the fact that Kid cases don't give us plot. I'm referring to how we don't even really get development for Kaito either as a character. Which makes sense! I mean, how can he develop as a character when he's not in his own manga/story/plot? It's impossible. Or it would suck if it happened. That's why I always say that I would rather put Conan in stand by for a month and get something juicy even if it's for MK, than have whatever the f it is we're getting. Because with this.. No one wins. Shinichi doesn't get anything because it's just a chapter meant for filler and fun and giggles (although the fun and giggles are not happening as much now... Because as you said, Kid cases are ALSO becoming boring, idc what anyone says. They are. They are boring. Just like the rest of fillers). Kaito doesn't get anything because his character keeps getting mixed up and confused with Kid, which is his main problem in fanon and why I find it difficult to enjoy fanon stuff with him (Kaito's personality is not Kid's peopleee), and every time his disguises, his heists, his personality get reduced to boring or repetitive things. And of course no one else gets anything either. No one.

So yeah. Imo, kid cases should go to the mk manga, let's get ittttt

MY BOYYYY

I've been sitting on this design in my head for a while and was never really able to get him onto paper in a way that satisfied me. But this came to me like a dream and I am so so so happy.

More details under the readmore so I can just ramble lol

Luka is part of my AU, where two of my OCs (Bluejay and Cardinal) are brought into the Monastery of Spinjitzu a little while before Cole, Jay and Zane, and act as a secondary team with Nya (and Dareth I guess?? idk my rewrites of the other seasons are a little silly atm), but don't believe they have any elemental powers like the main boys. In my fanseason (between 3 and 4 atm), the two are the focus as they discover their heritages, stop a cult, and pretty much adopt this little guy!

Luka was part of a cult that turns out to be the main antagonist. Luka himself isn't an antagonist, but he is being manipulated by the leader. He's treated as their messiah, as his elemental power allows him to see into the future. His powers aren't trained, he's unable to control how far into the future he can see, and his visions often seem to just happen with no input from him.

So far character-role-wise he's kinda acting like a contrast to Lloyd when he was still a kid? (or kid-sized lol). Not only in design but also behavior. Instead of constantly acting out and getting attention through bad behavior, Luka is very obedient and goes out of his way to help the cult members when they are in need of it. He sees them as a family, and most of them treat him like their collective child. Even their leader is extremely kind to him.

Plot stuff is still under massive construction, so all of this is subject to change.

The Ninja uncover that the cult's behavior towards Luka was mostly a front to keep him loyal to them as he grows up and his powers mature. They plan to use his power to control the people of Ninjago and keep them in submission while they rule over them, believing themselves to be more superior than "the common folk." Their leader is especially delusional about his own grandeur, thinking himself to be god-like so long as he has Luka at his disposal.

Luka's view of the cult all comes crashing down as the Ninja put a stop to them and rescue Luka. He's known of their plans to use him and take over Ninjago, but as a kid that was brainwashed by them, it never occurred to him that this wasn't okay. He's never known any other form of family and is too young to tell that he's being manipulated.

Though, to the Ninja's surprise, Luka admits that he was never able to see a future where they did rule. In his visions that far into the future, he only ever saw multi-colored hooded figures he could never fully make out. He assumed that it would be his caretakers, but after meeting the Ninja he began to understand. They'd be the ones he would get to see the world with, and realized that the cult's plans were horrible for the people in Ninjago.

Along the way, Cardinal and Bluejay unlock their true potentials for their elements of touch and sound (Cardinal does fully, while Bluejay only half unlocks it? its complicated lol). The group also learns from Wu and Garmadon that there are two other elemental masters to represent the other human senses, smell and taste. Until they can find them, it'll be up to them and their sensei to help Luka learn to control his power and just let him be a regular kid for a while.

Tiny little misc. note: Luka will get a proper bird codename like Bluejay and Cardinal, but I haven't decided on it. I'm thinking about Owl or something similar. Still TBA tho.
