i just had to let this out. if i dont i will die. anyways im super in love with dottore !! so have this kinda self indulgent fic where its super disgustingly fluffy and just reader being a huge fucking love struck loser :3 there needs to be more dottore fics i swear :( (actually have no idea what im going with this but its fluff so whatever) oh ya allowing drabble rqs but only for dottore LOL (pantalone too actually!1)

you've long accepted that dottore has different ways of expressing his affection for you. it wasn't what you'd consider the norm from what you could tell by observing other relationships, but then again, he was never to be categorized with others. same goes for you, after you barged into dottore's life.
so, as the years go by, you've learned to identify these expressions of love that are only unique to you. some of them are odd, if you'll admit, but it was more endearing than unsettling.
he doesn't say much, it seems like being completely honest, even to you, has been forever deeply ingrained into his mind. but his actions do say a lot more than he'll ever say to you.
this doesn't mean you're not going to tease it out of him.
"dottore," you call his name with a sing-song voice, walking across his lab with a pep on your step. it echoed into the bustling room, mixing along with the other footsteps of segments scattered about. some had turned their heads in your direction, only to stick their nose up in the air and go back to whatever they were doing with a huff.
aw, you'll have to give them some attention later on. but for now, your target was dottore, your darling zandik.
you wrapped your arms around his waist as you buried your face onto his back, his hair tickling your nose. he didn't even flinch at your sudden hug, only continued to mix chemicals in the vials he held in his gloved hands. "i love you." you cooed behind him, your fingers playing with the lapels of his lab coat, before intertwining and resting your hands on his abdomen.
you could feel his stomach rise and fall along with his chest with every breath he took, and if you slid your hands up a little higher, you could feel his pulse quicken, only for a little. despite it all, to you, he was only human. a mortal, your lover.
then, you press a kiss on the back of his neck, mumbling another, "i love you!", only to receive a small hum of acknowledgement from dottore, his shoulders dropping ever so slightly as one of his hands was now laid atop of yours, thumb rubbing circles on your skin, not bothered by your intrusion one bit. you smiled against his clothes, but you wanted to prod him for more. "i love you, dottore." you say again, your embrace tightening. "gods, i love you soooo much. i love you~"
you repeated again and again, rather shamelessly at that. you moved at each 'i love you', and at this point, you've slid yourself around his torso, squeezing yourself into his arms. so now your face is buried onto his neck as you continue to spill all of your love for him until you've eventually riled him up to his limit.
what you didn't expect, was for him to put down the vials he had in his hands, and to finally reciprocate your hug. his hand was on the back of your head, gently patting and playing with your hair, while his chin was rested atop your head.
and oh, to be in his embrace. it's not like it's rare for him to hug you, he has grown to be a bit more physically affectionate ever since you've started dating, but for him to stop whatever he's doing just to indulge in your musings? ah, it was utter bliss in his arms, and you melted into a puddle of love-struck goo.
"what's with all of this, now?" dottore mused with a chuckle. and gods, you always loved it when he laughed, his chest rumbling against your body, and the hairs on your forearms stood. "i do believe i have provided you with ample attention this morning for you to survive for a couple of hours on your own."
you giggle at his words, allowing him to push aside some of his stuff on his desk and sit you atop it, fitting himself between your legs and pulling you impossibly closer to him. you didn't answer him though, only chanting 'i love you into his ear, cooing and planting kisses all over his face. he seems to be entranced by your display of affection, letting you take off his mask, your fingers dancing against his marred skin, littered with scars and burns.
he knows you love every single one of them, kissing the sensitive skin, the sensation leaving him all tingly and warm on the inside. quickly, he pulled his gloves off of his hands and wrapped them around your neck.
your eyes flicker to his for a moment, curious, but still trusting. not a single care for the hands tainted with the black tar of crimes he has committed, of all the sins that crawled and scratched on his back, of all the scars that serve an everlasting reminder of everything he has done. too easily, his hands could snap your neck, as if you were nothing.
"i love you."
but both you and zandik know he'd never try to do such a thing. his hands just fit perfectly around your neck, his thumb pressing lightly against your pulse points. surging with blood, just underneath your skin, heart beating, alive in his hands, and loving him, of all people.
then, amidst your confessions to him, you pursed your lips and narrowed your eyes. "what do you think you're doing?" you trusted dottore with all your life, though the look he had on your neck while he lightly squeezed was odd. "don't look at me like i am a mere cadaver." you hiss.
he lips stretched into a big grin, sharp teeth showing all their glory to you as he leaned his face was inches apart from yours. "oh, my dearest," dottore's hands were now on your back, wrapping his arms around you once more. you shivered at the pet name, so easily allured by everything he does and says. "you are more than that. makes it more interesting for me to observe and study."
you gave him a playful glare, "try and i'll stab your neck with a scalpel." and though you threatened him, your hands cupped his cheeks, thumbs tenderly massaging his scars. he leans against your touch and closes his eyes, grin never leaving his lips. "my, and you were just telling me that you loved me repeatedly just a moment ago. have you stopped loving me?"
"i will if you start cutting me open without my permission!"
"so you will let me study you if i asked."
"don't ask!" you huffed, crossing your arms at him. "be content with what you have!"
"oh, but we are scholars, my love." he purrs into your ear, and he sees how quick you crumble beneath him. "we strive for more, don't we?" you roll your eyes at that, opening your mouth to argue with him more, but he shushes you with his finger.
"tell me you love me."
you blink at him, surprised, before smiling widely with sparkling eyes. "i love you." you say, breathless as he sighs at those words.
"again."
you chuckle, "my, how greedy."
dottore only scoffed, and tugged at your hair impatiently. "again," he demanded, and you could only giggle and say, "i love you," and again, and again.
and when he has had enough, he shuts you up with a kiss. long, passionate, and always ends up bloody. he can't help but bite your bottom lip every time you kiss. you look so gorgeous with bruised lips and blood dribbling down your chin, anyway. you don't mind, licking your lips with a grin.
"i love you, zandik."
"i love you too, my dearest."
it wasn't often for you to hear those words from his lips, but you cherish every moment he does.

Malleus is one of the most verbally affectionate people in the cast. He may not be as in tune with his own emotions, but once he's aware of his feelings for you, he knows well to put them into words. He has this old-fashioned, sometimes almost poetic way of speaking and he doesn't even need to try very hard to make your heart beat faster. Like, just look at his lines in canon. "You're not afraid of me but I'm starting to become afraid...of losing you".....once you're dating him it's this x5. He'll take your hands into his and tell you that you make his heart flutter and that he wants nothing more but to spend the rest of his long, long life with you. He notices all the little things about you that he finds beautiful and he doesn't hesitate to tell you.
Malleus loves being on the receiving end of compliments as well. It boosts his mood instantly to have you gush over him or go on a tangent about how much you adore him. Malleus sucks up compliments and affection like a sponge. He'll have the softest smile on his face when you cup his face and tell him he means the world to you. He takes your hand into his and presses soft appreciative kisses to your knuckles. Malleus is whipped for you and the second your relationship is no longer a secret everyone will notice.

Malleus loves spending time with you. Quality Time with him is the foundation of your relationship and the whole reason you even got this far with him. After centuries of being alone, Malleus adores having someone who will just ask him to hang out with them like it's second nature and he won't hesitate to seek you out either when he has an idea for how to spend your day together. This goes without saying but Malleus would love to take you on long nightly walks under the stars and hold your hand; exploring his favorite ruins and explaining every gargoyle he sees to you. You expressing interest in him and listening to his words with your utmost attention was what touched his heart first and it never fails to make him grateful for your presence in his life. Malleus is also up for almost any date ideas you bring to the table. He has much to explore about this world and what better way to do this than with the person he loves? He's curious and attentive. As your lover it's self-evident for him to learn more about your hobbies and engage with you in the things you're passionate about. His interest in your life is nothing half-hearted and you can bet he's getting just as excited as you about the things that matter to you.

Malleus likes to give you gifts as well. It's custom for dragon fae to give their lover prized possessions such as gemstones and jewelry, but Malleus has a very different understanding of what a valuable gift is than most fae engaging in this method of courting. So you'll get expensive jewels alongside a photo of his favorite gargoyle and a broken chandelier he found in an abandoned building. Sometimes you don't really know what to do with the gifts he gives you but he insists that once you become his consort you can have your own dragon hoard and just put everything there.
He treasures every gift you give him as well, no matter what it is. But he is especially weak for gifts where he can tell that you put a lot of thought into it. Something personal, adjusted to his interests. A modern book about gargoyles or a beautiful ice cream cup. He'll thank you and press a kiss to your lips gently, reminding you that he loves you and that you're the greatest gift he could ask for.

Don't let him. At least not in the beginning of the relationship when he's not as attuned to your needs yet. Because we know how Malleus trying to do things for other people usually turns out...acts of service from this man could be anything from a mild inconvenience to a magical safety hazard. He has the best intentions but the worst approaches.
Once he becomes aware of those shortcomings, he makes a point of asking you directly how he could support you. He will accompany you to tasks and appointments that stress you if you so wish, as well as use his magic to make life easier for you if you tell him that he can. It'll take him a while to not mess it up but he'll try for you.
Malleus generally doesn't see a need for you to assist him in anything while at Night Raven College, as he can do most of his tasks easily with magic. He still chuckles at your attempts to do so and feels flattered though. When you become his consort, Malleus treasures when you support him in his duties as prince and later king. Sometimes you'll personally bring him a few snacks and a cup of black coffee when he's busy with his documents. He'll thank you and presses a soft kiss to your lips, smiling against them and squeezing your hand gently, offering that you may seek him out if you need any assistance with your share of the work as well.

Malleus is touch-starved so he will happily take you up on the offer to touch you, if you allow him. When you two are alone, he'll be snuggled close to you or at least has an arm wrapped around you or holds your hand.
He'll let you touch his horns. They're quite sensitive and he'll close his eyes, letting out a soft sigh as you work your magic. When he's stressed or something upset him, he loves to rest his head in your lap and have you card your fingers through his hair and gently caress his horns.
Malleus also loves when you kiss the markings on his forehead. It's a silent promise for dragon fae that one intends to stay by their side forever. Malleus takes this gesture as an unspoken sign of your devotion and he'll reciprocate it, even if you don't have any dragon markings.
He loves to be snuggled up in bed with you or take a nice warm bath, kissing you softly for as long as you let him. He loves to spoil you with his affection and receive yours in turn.

Lilia has his own, sometimes strange way of reminding you verbally just how much you matter to him. He always expresses his love for you in words when you least expect it; often by using unusual analogies and sentences that aren't very direct but still make it clear that he's speaking from his heart and out of genuine adoration for you.
Lilia is used to taking care of others; having served Briar Valley for centuries as well as having raised both Malleus and Silver. His love for you will shine through the most in moments where he's worried about you or scolds you playfully. He'll float if necessary, putting a hand at the back of your head and letting you bury your head in his chest. He'll look down at you with a peaceful smile of such pure devotion and fondness you don't get to see that often, softly telling you not to worry too much or to be more careful. He presses a kiss to your forehead as a reminder that he's always there when you need him.
Lilia can be a tease when he's on the receiving end for compliments. He'll usually laugh it off. "Khee hee, you flatter me", he'd chuckle and press a kiss to your cheek. But sometimes you'll see him respond with a sly smirk. "You think this getup suits me? Well, tell me all about it, won't you?", he lowers his pitch, maybe whispers in your ear or nibbles at your lips gently. Though, his teasing demeanor quickly shifts back to a hearty laugh when he sees that he has made you flustered. "Hehe, I didn't mean to fluster you", he lies. He absolutely meant to do that.

Even though Lilia has been on this earth for a very long time, he still treasures the time he gets to spend with the people he loves and you're no exception to that. Sometimes you may underestimate how much all these small moments shared with you mean to him, especially with how casually he tends to talk about him, but those are the things he'll remember most when his final day does come.
Lilia loves to share the things he finds fun with you. He'll let you sit on his lap (or sit on yours) when he's gaming online and let you watch, explaining the game to you so you can share the experience together. He'll totally be up for playing games with you if you'd like to get the game yourself. He's the kind of man who's super welcoming to new players and willing to help you out whenever you need it.
He'll also offer to cook with you. If you are brave enough to let him into a kitchen while you're preparing a meal, you better keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he doesn't put any "special ingredients" into the dish that he thinks would "spice it up". Sometimes he'll be very insistent about doing things his way and assures you repeatedly that he has ways to improve the recipe tremendously. Pay no mind to suggestions like "Are you sure we don't want the oyster sauce in there?" or "Shouldn't we leave the gratin in the oven for a bit longer? The cheese on top isn't even black yet"; for the good of everyone involved.
Lilia knows how, even for someone with a long lifespan, life can feel surprisingly short; as can the time we spend with those we care about be cut short in an instant. As someone who has seen the horrors of war and experienced loss over and over again, Lilia sees even more meaning in the fact that you've chosen to spend a significant portion of your time with him. Time is a precious resource and he'd choose to spend his on you and the children he raised over and over again.

You need to find some sort of way to get yourself out of the predicament of being given "homemade meals" by him because that stuff is inedible, if not actively toxic, but you can also tell he put a lot of effort into it, however misplaced that effort may be. He'll be so excited when he brings you the dish, waiting eagerly to see your reaction to his cooking. Only that your reaction would probably not be what he anticipated.
Other than that, Lilia has a way of finding gifts and souvenirs you would enjoy for sure, just as he does for Malleus, Silver and Sebek. He treasures every gift you give him as well, whether it's something expensive you bought or something as simple as a sloppily made acorn necklace. For Lilia, it's the thought that counts when it comes to gifts.

Lilia doesn't mind helping you out when you need it; assisting you in matters that may stress you out or that you may have trouble with on your own; though Lilia is someone who will also always encourage you to be brave and find your own way to tackle issues head-on. He can't always tell you how to solve a problem in a way that works for you, but when you do find out yourself, he'll be very proud of you.
Lilia insists that he doesn't need your help with anything and most of the time that is true, but that doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate your attempts at doing so anyway. And if he truly does need your assistance with something, then what you do for him will be something he'll never forget.

Lilia enjoys touch; especially for showing his affection to you when he can't really put it into words. You'll definitely receive headpats whenever the occasion calls for it.
He'll also let you cuddle him when you wish to do so, letting you rest your head on his chest while he has an arm wrapped around you. He'll let you fall asleep while he holds you; though Lilia tends to shift around a lot at night. Sometimes you'll wake up and find him sleeping upside down on the ceiling instead. This is normal behavior for him, don't let it deter you.
Lilia likes teasing you with his physical affection. Expect quite a few kisses on your neck and close to your earlobe. He finds it very amusing when he can fluster you. Though, his teasing is often followed by a genuine, gentle kiss to your lips or your temple, to reassure you he truly does mean all the affection he gives to you.

Silver isn't really that good at putting his love for you into words and when he attempts to do so, he'll be quite awkward about it and maybe stumble over his words a few times. His care for you shows in the way he's willing to protect you and how he worries about you a lot. That is the one thing he never fails to tell you. That you do not have to hesitate to call for him when you need his help for anything or feel unsafe in any situation. Your comfort and well-being is so important to him and he treasures when you acknowledge his efforts at preserving those things. He loves when you tell him he's a good boyfriend and is relieved to know that he's doing everything properly when it comes to making you feel loved and cared for in the relationship; as he doesn't really have any experience with dating and was quite nervous at first.
Silver gets flustered quite easily when he's on the receiving end of compliments. Lilia teases him about it a lot when he first starts dating you. His father is going to try to play wingman for the two of you and he's having the time of his life with it. Lilia will also absolutely tell you about the sweet things Silver has said about you when you're not around. Silver doesn't really know how to respond to a lot of verbal affection, so he just tends to let his actions speak and holds you for a while or gives you a sweet kiss.

Silver has learnt to appreciate the time he has to spend with his loved ones, especially growing up around people who will live for so much longer than he does. So he too will treasure how much time you're willing to dedicate to him.
Before he confessed to you, he was a little unsure what activities you would enjoy doing together and he was a little hesitant to suggest anything; letting you pick whenever the occasion called for it, but he starts taking the initiative more once he actually starts dating you. He'll get one of the horses from the equestrian club ready and will take you on a ride, letting you sit behind him and relishing in the feeling of your arms wrapped around him and you holding onto him for support.
Silver sometimes, as he always has a habit to in any situation, falls asleep during your time spent together and he'll feel so sorry for it. At first he's worried that you might take it as a sign that he finds your presence boring or isn't really committed to your activities together, so reassure him that you don't take it personally. He'll still feel a little guilty, but he appreciates the reassurance. He'll try his best to stay awake during your dates.

Silver is pretty classy when it comes to gift-giving. Flowers and chocolates are his go-to option along with anything you have previously expressed wanting or enjoying. When he knows you like a certain brand of tea or a type of shampoo, he gets it for you when he sees it in a store. Silver is very attentive and notices when you run out of things needed for your daily life and he has a habit of getting them for you.
Silver has a tendency to be humble when you give him gifts. "Thank you, y/n, but that really wouldn't have been necessary" and "You didn't need to go out of your way to get me anything" are not unusual sentences to come out of his mouth; even on anniversaries or Valentine's Day. He'll be a little awkward about receiving gifts from you but he does appreciate them a lot nonetheless!
He's especially fond of practical gifts. Things like new riding gear or polish for his sword. It tells him that you're paying attention to the activities he cares about and support him in his training as well as with his hobbies. Silver will thank you for your gifts with a kiss on the cheek and reminds you that he loves you very much.

Perhaps the most prevalent love language Silver has. I mean he's literally a prince's attendant, a guard and his motivation is dedicating his life to pay his adoptive father back for raising him. If Silver is good at any way to express love, it's acts of service and that is what he defaults to. He's always ready to get you whatever you need to be comfortable and happy; he'll protect you whenever the need arises and he is dedicated to supporting you with any situations you might struggle with.
He's so attentive and can even go a little over the top when you're not feeling well. You're sick? He'll look up how to make a nice soup for you and brings it to your bed along with however many blankets you need and a warm tea. Nervous about an upcoming event? He'll hold your hand, gently caressing the back of your hand with his thumb to reassure you that he's right here with you to support you. He'll try to find solutions to the problem to make you feel more at ease. You're crying? Silver is ready to hand you tissues and wrap his arms around you, letting you cry into his shoulder.
Silver is a giver in a relationship and acts of service is another thing he will say he doesn't need and that you don't need to go out of your way to do anything for him. He can even be a little stubborn with this. Lilia might bonk him gently and tell him to just let you spoil him for once.

Silver loves cuddling. He'll fall asleep very easily when he's nestled in your arms and has your fingers running through his soft hair. He'd have a smile on his face that he isn't even aware of in that moment.
His kisses are gentle and sweet most of the time, reminding you of the pure and unconditional love he has for you. You're his first love and it shows. It takes him a while to ease into being shown a lot of physical affection but he adores it. Never complains about it and just accepts it without question.
He also doesn't mind PDA. He enjoys taking walks with you around campus, holding your hand or having an arm wrapped around you. He kisses your lips or your forehead as a quick goodbye whenever you part ways to go to different classes.

The one love language Sebek likes to receive the most. He's not too enthusiastic about mixed signals and when he's truly dedicated to someone, he wants to know he's doing a good job at providing comfort and happiness for them. If you don't tell him on your own, he will ask you whether you're satisfied with how much affection he's showing you, if he's giving you everything you need and whether there's anything lacking. Sebek takes pride in being praised for his care and attentiveness and he craves the affirmation that he's a good boyfriend to you.
He will boast about it when you compliment him and he might let it go to his head once in a while. He definitely brags about the compliments you have given him to other people and sometimes you'll have to remind him to tone it down a notch.
Sebek is also very quick to compliment you in return. You're also Sebek's first relationship and he needs to unlearn the tendency to idealize you the way he does Malleus (he also needs to unlearn to idealize Malleus but that's another cup of tea). Either way, if you're dating Sebek you will know exactly where you stand with him. He leaves no room for doubt about that. He could go on for an hour about all the things he loves about you. He's the type to send you a whole love letter in your DM's.
Sebek finds so many little things he thinks are beautiful about you and with time you'll become aware of every single one of them.

Sebek feels honored that you spend your time with him. He enjoys the quieter moments; having tea together or talking about books you have read. Like Silver, he will also take you horse-riding and enjoy the scenery on the Isle of Sages with you.
Sebek's ideal date is just going to the bookstores on the island and picking out books for each other; preferably something one of you has read already, so you can both look forward to the other's thoughts about the matter. He loves just being snuggled up in a cozy position on the couch and reading idly next to each other. You occasionally exchange kisses or he'll glance over to your book, see which chapter you're on and ask you for your thoughts on a particular thing that happened in the book.

I hope his parents don't give him that much pocket money because Sebek is not above spending a ridiculous amount of money on gifts you really didn't need. If someone just offhandedly mentions something would be a good gift for a lover, Sebek is already contemplating whether to get it for you. I'm honestly surprised Azul hasn't made a regular customer out of Sebek yet because convincing him that you or Malleus would like a thing is a pretty solid way to get Sebek to spend money.
He treasures every gift you give him. Even if you didn't intend for something to be a gift. You could give him the wrapper of your chocolate bar and he'd treat it like a family heirloom. This is another "Sebek you need to tone it down a notch" instance.
Sebek is appreciative of literally everything you do for him so if you want a boyfriend who'll have grand reactions to your affection and is no stranger to elaborately explaining just how much a thing you did touched his heart, Sebek is your guy.

Sebek's #1 love language when it comes to giving you love. When you need something, Sebek gets ready to provide it for you before you even finished your sentences sometimes. "Sebek. Chill. Sit down", you take his hand and guide him to sit next to you again. "Right...", he responds and runs a hand through his hair awkwardly.
He moderates a little as your relationship progresses. At the beginning of it he's in a state where he would gladly do your homework for the rest of the year and make you dinner every evening etc.
He is so touched when you do things for him in return. He's like "wow, they actually put in so much effort to support me 😳🥺" internally and struggles to process that he's actually that lucky for this to be happening to him.

Sebek loves physical touch and he's actually kinda sensitive. At the beginning of the relationship when he's not used to your affection yet, just a kiss or you running your hands through his hair is enough to have him stumbling over his words and struggling to form coherent sentences. Sebek.exe has stopped working.
Sebek actively encourages as much PDA as possible without having it affect his reputation as Malleus's guard. He loves to boast about your affection and your love for him. Literally, the entire school could hate your guts and Sebek would still brag about being your boyfriend.
If you don't stop him you're going to be that couple who kisses repeatedly in the hallway before class starts.
Sebek especially adores cheek kisses and when you nuzzle his neck. But literally all affection from you has the potential to make his heart melt.
If you go too overboard, he might cry out of happiness.

okay 3am anon again (although you likely have more than one of those, the most recent 3am anon) after some sleep, still thinking about the overlap between the player Grian’s last memories of his code being devoured and the pre grian larval watcher’s memory of doing the devouring. in this au there’s no concept of the soul, it’s just code all the way down? so like… player grian’s code didn’t get shucked off to the greater universe and recycled. it’s still *there*, making up watcher grian. like he’s a fusion of the two, chimera like— or worse, a stranger wearing player grians corpse.
side note: while ik the listeners aren’t that well known (if known at all) to the players, i think the process of becoming a listener and becoming a watcher artificially are eerily similar. the difference to me being that one has a clear delineation in the before and the after, the player and the watcher, while the other leaves outsiders wondering exactly how much of their friend is left. you’re giving ME brain worms.
side side note: re: Doc’s Mystery Solution: think it would incredibly funny for it to be a radio tower broadcasting the Watcher Food Frequency. Many jokes to be had. Fortunately i’m making all of them:
1) grian simply thinking real hard at the air to eat call that Same-Second Delivery
(like that one telekinesis pizza image)
2) *Incomprehensible static noises* “YOU’RE LISTENING TO—“ *Rapid screeching and clicking* “— THE WATCHER RADIO—“ *hissing, skittering, shrieking* “—THE BEST (only) ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET ON AIR!” *three seconds of the time honored watcher classic Maneater by Nelly Furtado blares before being subsumed by crushing static*

side side side note (side x3 note?), grians specific set of issues around feeding is so interesting to me— knowing that what helps you will directly hurt others, imo, really validates the fear a lot of ill— mentally and physically— people have about being a burden on those they love, and getting themselves hurt in the process of attempting to protect their loved ones. it also follows that up by saying “you might be a burden! But it’s the choice of others to help you. What a world it would be if all we meant to each other was the burdens we give and take.” idk i could be grossly misinterpreting it. but it is an interesting thought to me.
additionally, i like the rounded focus you have on everyone— seeing how everyone is 1) handling this extreme situation, 2) what they do with the little information they have/have figured out is so wonderfully twisty. it grounds the fic in an emotional reality, whilst using scifi/fantasy concepts to form the set on which that emotional reality is played out. immaculate.

But my thought on the whole ship of theseus situation has ALWAYS been "its still you if thats what you choose." and thats ultimately what i want to portray for Grian as well.
Smth smth "show me a permanent state of the self" and "trauma changes you irrevocably but so does healing" and "sometimes you replace your host (hi fellow systems im waving)" and also a little of that good old trans "i killed and ate the person i was and became something different but im also still me" flavour all at the same time. There are a ton of different things im referencing in the entire idea of Grian killing and replacing himself and containing those trace amounts of that original code and they are all SO integral to the story for me. For the mental health thing!!! Yes!!!! Yes oh my gods it is SO important to me to have that as part of this portrayal, that yes sometimes we hurt each other and sometimes we hurt each other badly-- but we are still a COMMUNITY and that means there is a deliberate choice in choosing to provide support anyways. I'll fully admit that i didnt necessarily go into this fic with like, a moral in mind?? In its most honest form, this fic is just a depiction, as is most of my work-- i really enjoy exploring the messy realities of terrible situations, often without any good answers, and navigating the maze of their ugly results when everybody is just trying their best. But i'll never say im not glad that this is something being taken out of reading this fic-- its about the community of it all. Its about how sometimes you hurt people and they can love you and support you anyway. Its about how sometimes people hurt you and you can also continue to support them. Like youve put so elegantly here: where would we be if we only measured our relationships in how much of a burden they are to us???? If we only gave a shit about the transaction of it all???? idk its all so deeply human to me and thats ultimately what i like about this fic, is the humanity in it, and the nuance, and the complexity of a terrible situation where everything is understandable and just plain sucks.

Let’s talk about Loki | S2 Episode 2! 😍
*takes a deep breath* HEAVY SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 2 OF LOKI!
Is it just me or is it hot in here? Not just me? Oh, good. I mean, honestly… that shadow scene was fan service. And trust me when I say that this will continue to make appearances in my future Imagines. Good gods… that suit and those green glowing eyes? Um, yes, please?! 🥵
Well… and on that note—you don’t mess with Loki. I told you X5 or Braaad (you got to say his name like you’re drunk) was gonna be trouble. Still hate him. He’s the type of douchebag who has no purpose when being bad. Blergh. He deserved Loki’s mischief. Also, can we please talk about how Loki was towering over him? That dark, purry and slow voice?! It would have worked on me… or I would have pounced on him and kissed him senseless… one of the two. Probably both at the same time.
Now I can also, finally, say what I’ve been meaning to say since last week but I couldn’t because of spoilers—I am so FREAKING MAD at Sylvie! Look… I know that in her mind, it was Loki who messed up. She thought he was gonna help her kill He Who Remains and he didn’t. Okay, fair enough. But it baffles me how she seems to think that Loki screwed things up when she was the literal cause of all this chaos and the one who kissed him and then dumped him through a time door. Literally and figuratively.
The fact that she thinks she’s happy… working at a McDonald’s on a branched timeline in the 80s… please. She finally has freedom and she’s doing this out of spite but this isn’t the life she truly wants, we all know that. I think she’s overwhelmed and she doesn’t know what to do with her feelings now that she’s killed He Who Remains. It didn’t give her the type of satisfaction that she wanted and if you think about it, she made it her life mission to bring down the TVA. Now that that’s done, more or less (she did realise after all that all those branches mean the TVA won’t go away properly) she’s a bit clueless and it shows. She’s gonna have to come around of course eventually… I mean, plot and story progression, after all, buuuut still—she’s gonna have to make up big time if she wants me to forgive her. She hurt him. That’s practically unforgivable. And on that note, I know there are Sylki shippers here reading this but every time I see these two together, they give me sibling energy. Soooorry, I can’t help it! 😂
So now the branched timelines are gone—for now, leaving only the Sacred Timeline, more or less—for now. There’s gonna be new branches again, of course. Something came to my mind the second time I watched it today though… didn’t they say in Season 1 that once a timeline reaches the red line, it can no longer be controlled by the TVA? Did I miss something here, was that a lie made up by He Who Remains so they’d take care of branched timelines as soon as possible? Because if it was true then how did they prune those timelines? Almost all of them were way past the red line! Or maybe this will have different types of consequences later on? Who knows!
That key lime pie tastes as good as it looks, by the way. So let’s talk about Loki’s and Mobius’ conversation while they were having a slice. I already read a few comments today and saw that a lot of people were missing the fact that Loki failed to mention that he was mind-controlled by Thanos when he attacked New York. I agree—it could have been thematised more but then again… I still think it was. Hear me out:
We know that the sceptre was influencing Loki—but not in the way he was using it to influence others. The sceptre/mind stone brought out the worst of Loki’s emotions and intensified them—in this case, his anger at his father and his brother (which he mentioned) and which is what Thanos used to manipulate him, promising him the “throne of Midgard” etc. It was a slippery bargain of course, because The Other was watching Loki and making sure he upheld his end of this bargain, or else Thanos would kill him. After all, why did he strike a bargain with that purple grape in the first place? He was hurled through space when he fell from the Bifrost. Remember? “I remember you tossing me into an abyss, I who was and should be king!”
So… yes, Loki was manipulated and mind-controlled by Thanos, we already knew that, of course, and personally, I think it’s still so traumatising for him to think, let alone talk about it that he would rather focus on his anger that caused all of this. If Loki was the honourable hero character (who we don’t need him to be anyways) he probably would have let Thanos kill him no matter what he offered. Maybe he wouldn’t have talked his way out of it with a bargain that meant the cost of many innocent lives. Instead, he let his anger drive him and Thanos used that to his advantage. That’s my ten pence on it!
From now on, I’m as in the dark as you guys. No clue what’s gonna happen in Episode 3 but I reckon we’re gonna meet Renslayer again. Let’s give her a good slap in the face when we do, shall we?

now im curious as to how disaster!amanda would be in a courtmangelarasha situation. does she pine for the three of them and is genuinely clueless about the reciprocated feelings? is she in a constant state of ‘are they flirting with me or just fucking with me’ ?
HMMM. so the thing about throuple/quartet dynamics is imo, that adding more people to a dynamic is not an addition problem as much as it is like. algebra. yknow. or calculus. w/e. Its not just adding a person, its interplay between all parties involved and their individual and combined dynamics. So while this is probably meant lightheartedly, unfortunately, I ended up thinking extensively about logistics and the how of this, since IMO that changes what Disaster!Amanda looks like and I really want it to feel. Legit. or as legit as RPF gets lmfao.
as always, this is all about RPF amanda, not real amanda, and this is specifically about like, my version of rpf amanda.
in general I think the tricky thing about pining Amanda is that she strikes me as someone to, upon realizing her emotions, either actually have a direct, adult conversation with the person about it, or actively go "oh no". and then do everything in her power to lock that shit down.
So. Hypothetical Amanda might be less of a disaster if she had similar feelings about multiple people simultaneously, over time. I think a key part to my version of disaster!amanda is her being caught off guard, acting in a panic, and then the shitshow that spirals out from that + doubling down. Amanda developing feelings for the three of them over time without confessing to anyone, i think means by the time we hit the full quartet, Amanda would have either tried to do something about communicating, or have somewhat of a handle on how to deal with her feelings solo. (Which could be a great angst thing! But maybe less comedic by that point.)
So in a scenario where Amanda is the only one really out of the loop... hmmm. Tricky for me to immediately come up with the setup. It might need to be something similar to my S&B Courtmangela setup in which the three (Court Arasha Angela) get close and Amanda is like. Fine about it. (Smosh Mouth FOMO tattoo joke style but dialed up x5). And she's flirting with them to deal with it, and they're flirting back, and it just. Keeps escalating. I think there needs to be an element of like, maybe Amanda not realizing she likes them all that way, just knowing she's feeling kind of. Left behind. And she's flirting with them, and they flirt back, and lets be real I think Amanda is the type where if you flirt with her as a bit she Will Double Down, so it would just Keep Going. I think the angst dial is dependent on how much Amanda recognizes her feelings- either she Knows and she's going to hide it from them or die trying (devastating), or she really Doesnt Realize until it culminates in a deeply funny way. Someone is in a kiss with tongue. Shayne is losing his mind because his friend is. A fool. <3
(Angst central: Amanda starts almost exclusively flirting with them when interacting instead of holding proper conversations bc she feels. bad. and is deflecting. Courtney and Angela especially start noticing because hey. They arent clueless. What the fuck. That sucks. Maybe Arasha has to be the one to actually talk to her about it BC Courtmangela have more deeply established ties that are in further jeopardy.............)
OPTIONALLY. if the feelings towards everyone differ drastically/change over time, then it brings back in that fun element of "oh shit oh god oh fuck".
Knowing she would probably try to communicate like an adult, I think there's a lot of fun with the disaster!Amanda in this universe being Amanda not realizing her own additional feelings until comedically late/after other people have already figured it out bc she just doesn't register it as that/is misreading her own emotions/it happens WHILE SHES ALREADY dating one or two of them.
(And again, critically, flirting is happening through all this but not everyone is formally in a relationship.)
My initial instinct about this was "Amangela Courtrasha first", and then the merge. I think a hilarious route for that would be your standard Amangela story, then that all gets sorted. And some time into the relationship, Angela has figured out Amanda's feelings (and her own) towards Courtney and Arasha. + that the flirting that keeps happening is mutual. And so we get:
Angela, loves Amanda (and courtrasha), has slowly realized that Amanda Does Not Realize Her Feelings: 'and you love them too, so-'
Amanda (was staunchly in denial, thought she was safe after figuring out her feelings towards Angela): I WHAT. what. oh shit. THATS what that is???
Or we could have Courtmanda and Arangela first. For max comedy we could have Courtney assuming that Amanda DOES know and so is unbothered by Amanda and Angela acting... well........ wellll...... 👀 and Amanda feels. maybe strange about watching Courtney and Arasha together, not bad but. Strange. (Esp because Amanda has also been looking at Arasha more but maybe she doesnt admit that.) She talks to Court and Courtney compares it to her and Ang and Amanda is okay with them all being- equal, right? (they mean dating but that is lost in the convo). Amanda (clueless) goes. oh like me and ang. of course. :)
And then eventually Angela kisses Amanda and Amanda freaks out and tells Courtney and they're like. .... Amanda did you not know. Amanda tell me you knew. Amanda how did you not realize.
it all works out though. :)
Arasha and Amanda first I'm still thinking about. Maybe a FWB sitch and then... hmm. i might have spent too long on this ask as it is lmfao. ANYWAY. fun ask. sorry if this isnt what you expected.. Unfortunately to me, a 4 person dynamic is not 1 dynamic. its 5-6 dynamics in a trenchcoat.

Aqil and Sosiel fluff x5
thanks to everyone who sent prompts, i had a good time thinking up little scenarios and i hope you will enjoy reading them!!
timeline is not very specific but i guess the important distinction is that the first two snippets happen before they officially get together and rest is after
Caring for each other while ill

(Sosiel please stop worrying about everyone else for 5 minutes)
Sosiel looked at the Knight Commander of the Fifth Crusade fluffing his pillows like it's the most normal thing in the world for someone of that rank.
He wanted to protest, say that there are far more important matters to take care of. That he was fine, really, he received everything he needed to speed up his recovery. Now it was only a matter of rest.
"I'm sorry." was all that came out of his mouth.
"What for?" Commander raised an eyebrow at him as he took two steps backwards to make some space "It's not like you got sick on purpose."
Bed covers felt incredibly inviting, even warmer than expected. Did Aqil use some kind of spell to heat up sheets for him and did it discreetly enough to not have it mentioned? That endearing smile made Sosiel want to believe in this suspected sleight of hand kindness.
But was he allowed to enjoy the pleasant sensations? Could he relax when everyone else was working hard to support the Crusade and ensure their survival?
"I'm no use to you like this."
"No one is useful one hundred percent of the time. There is balance to all things."
Aqil speaks of balance often but as Sosiel found out he rarely frames it as demands of good or the struggle against evil. Adjusting to such a different point of view wasn't easy but with some time and effort he started to understand it better.
"I need to turn the aspect of protection towards myself or I will damage my health further."
His words sounded more hesitant than he would like to but they still earned him a nod and a grin.
"See? You get it. If you destroy yourself you no longer can protect anyone."
The Knight Commander of the Fifth Crusade leaned in and left a ghost of a kiss upon Sosiel's brow.
"And I do not wish to see that happen."

Patching up a wound

(i know this isn't the usual direction for this prompt but consider: oracle curses)
Being a healer involves seeing many bodies that are hurt or bruised but distress of it evaporates when Sosiel feels power of his goddess flow through him and sees the wounds close and injuries mend. He was however unsure how he felt about an ailment that completely refused to respond to the positive energy he was channeling... Something about his expression must have betrayed his thoughts.
"You don't have to do it if it's making you uncomfortable."
Usually Aqil would deal with his burned limbs on his own but today he used up all his magic during a particularly nasty fight so he asked for Sosiel's help and the cleric agreed without a second thought. He appreciated the trust that the Commander bestowed upon him and was not about to go back on his word.
"I just wish there was more I could do..."
"You can't heal it, nobody can. I only need some pain alleviated, that will be more than enough."
The gold glow of magic lingered for a while longer, bathing them in a warm light. After it disappeared neither of them seemed in a hurry to separate.
"So you are used to it?"
With some hesitation Sosiel decided to broach the subject. Aqil didn’t look at him and just shrugged with feigned nonchalance.
"I've been like this since the day I was given my oracle powers. The divine magic flows through me: raw, unbridled… burning. I knew it would affect me one way or another, I just… didn't quite expect the severity."
There wasn't any easy flowing response to such admission. To uncommon vulnerability in Commander's voice. In a wave of sudden emotion Sosiel raised the cursed hand and gently kissed the delicate skin. Then the moment passed and he found Aqil staring at him wide-eyed.
"I'm sorry, I- forgot myself. If I overstepped…"
His hurried explanation was cut short as the rough palm cradled his jaw.
"I thought you would resent that part of me… it's not the prettiest sight."
Sosiel covered the hand on his cheek with his own, leaning into the touch.
"There is not a single thing about you I could resent."

"It's getting colder again."
The sun almost completely disappeared behind the horizon and yet Aqil said that with a sense of betrayal worthy of something other than everyday occurrence. Few seconds later he was in his kitsune form, visibly more relaxed.
"That's much better." he said as his tail wagged vigorously.
The sight was so cute Sosiel couldn't help but smile.
"It must be nice to have fur that protects you from the weather."
"You bet. I'm still not sure how you people live without it all the time. Must be quite miserable."
He was teasing, his fox features well suited for a playful expression. It seemed like a waste to not respond in kind.
"It can be less miserable when you share warmth with another person."
"Ha! I see your game. You must be one of those fabled wily humans."
Without a warning Aqil pulled Sosiel towards him and wrapped him in a tight embrace. Close and comfortable.
When they parted, Sosiel affectionately stroked his beloved's cheek. Pleasant texture under his fingers.
"So your fur is not only warm but also soft?"
"Mmmm, what can I say? We are perfect like that."

"...he was known as the master of ice magic. Real serious stuff too, evocation at its finest. But when he eventually decided to retire he publicly announced that all he is interested in now is practicing the art of frozen desserts. You wouldn't believe how big of a controversy it was among Nethys' faithful at the time. One group was adamant that his actions are a waste of his magical talents and therefore a clear heresy, while others argued that since he was using magic to pursue his culinary goals he was free to do so as the All Seeing Eye does not limit what magic should be used for. I personally agree with the latter group, more practical and down-to-earth uses of magic are often devalued in the academic circles which in my opinion is a deliberate attempt to keep magic in the hands of the wealthy elites. Don't you think people would be more interested in studying the arcane arts if they knew this path can lead to frozen treats?"
"About the ice cream…"
"Yes?"
Aqil snapped back to the present moment to look at Sosiel who with a soft smile was pointing at their shared bowl.
"...they are melting."
"Ah! I got carried away… again."
The spoon was in his hand the whole time, he had been waving it around for emphasis, now it was sheepishly returned to its intended role.
"You should have stopped me sooner."
Sosiel chuckled, his head resting in his hand, his eyes full of affection.
"I didn't want to. I like when you are so passionate."

It felt like several long minutes since Sosiel started adjusting different elements of Aqil's formal attire. Half cape, necklace, earrings… It seemed that nothing would escape cleric's scrutiny.
"Now you are just fussing. I won't be as impeccable as you, no matter how hard you try."
"It's not just fussing and you understand that as well as I do. First impressions matter a lot in diplomatic relations. I want this to go well."
With unyielding determination he went to retrieve a comb from one of the drawers to which Aqil let out a faux gasp.
"I can't even keep my bun? It's not that messy."
Sosiel did not even deign that with a response and simply returned to his previous position.
"It adds to my roguish charm! And that worked on you."
Little smile let Aqil know that his partner is now in on the teasing so he let his arms wrap around his waist and pulled him closer.
"You are not trying to seduce the ambassadors."
There was something incredibly delightful about the sternness of Sosiel's words combined with the playful glint in his eyes.
"I'm not? I'm pretty sure that’s exactly what Daeran suggested."
"Ah yes, Count Arendae, a veritable fount of good ideas."
The unfailing deadpan delivery of that remark made them stand in complete silence for a moment before they both burst out laughing. Aqil reached for his hair tie and pulled it loose.
"Fine, fine. Do your worst."

SYLKI IS BACK TOGETHER!
Well kinda, we´re getting there.
But i love that it´s so obvious to Mobius that they are into each other, and even X5/Brad knows Loki is obssesed with her... so they are endgame, i know.
They are some other things at hand to resolve now, but the way they look at each other, all that tension, can´t wait for the next kiss and I hope this time is Loki going for it.
