Since my failed surprise to him, Daniel hasn’t been well. Maybe I overreacted a bit that night when he came home late? Idk?… After all, he apologized to me and regretted it. I shouldn’t have rejected him and compared him to Mr B. What I didn’t do, but I think D. got me wrong.

Even Lucky was sad. I cried in the bedroom and worried about Daniel, who had been lying on the couch for almost two days. He just didn’t want to talk to me? I wasn’t sure? I felt like he didn’t want me around him, so I just played Sims all day yesterday. And you know, I’ve been writing with Nico, but I still didn’t know it was him!!! I thought Nico was a woman who was chatting with me about Sims. His Origin ID was “EllaSheSims…” But since yesterday I knew that Nico is a 22 year old guy and not a woman/girl, who’s playing sims. That username he used, belonged to his current girlfriend/fiancé.

I asked him why he plays Sims? I thought it was…. weird? He told me that his ex gf loved Sims. They broke up, he said. But he still missed her sm. He bought her the base game and some packs ,so she could play Sims on his pc and bla bla bla… He told me OUR story, you know? But I didn’t get it!!! Instead, I felt sorry for him because he missed his ex. (me)

I told Nico what’s going on with Daniel and that I was really sad & worried about him. I know I told a stranger my probs. But…. he also told me about his ex, so I felt like I could talk to him about Daniel. Nico advised me to talk to Daniel, he said Daniel needed me now. Actually, that was totally sweet of Nico in retrospect. He wanted to help me make it work between Daniel and me, even though….. he missed me.

Back to Daniel… I think that’s when D. thought about leaving. He felt he had lost control of his addiction and wanted to prevent me from relapsing. But it was all my fault! I wanted us to do it again a few days ago because of this shit with Mr B. and now Daniel may have relapsed. I HAD TO do something!! I somehow misjudged the whole situation with D. He has been constantly helping me and he seemed so determined to do everything right. I had the feeling he was fine. But… Daniel is kind of sensitive, like me. Being constantly rejected by me, because of my panic attacks made him totally insecure, especially our last dispute. Anyway, it was time for me to get out of hiding and help him!!

Me: I’m so sorry D. for what I said yesterday to you. But I didn’t mean it bad. I was disappointed, you know? Ily sm and wanted to make up for what we missed. However, tell me, what’s up with you? I’m here for you and you don’t have to feel bad about anything or blame yourself. You helped me sm, D.! Now I’m gonna help you. Daniel: You can’t help me, you’re only gonna hurt yourself if you try. Me: I don’t care!I will always love you and stay with you whether you stay clean or not. I’ll be strong for you and I’ll help you! Honestly. I’m not like I was in the summer, you changed me and you showed me that I can live without that fucking drug. I just need you. And…… you me. Daniel: Everything goes wrong, I failed….. You have to learn to cope without me & I, without you. Otherwise, we’ll never really make it.

Me: It doesn’t matter, we’re married! Why would you or I….. leave? I’ll stay with you forever. I can’t live without you! Is that what you want Daniel: No…….. Still, I’m not good for you. I screwed up and without me, you would never have been in danger three months ago. All this shit would have been spared you….

Me: I was so happy when you asked me to marry you. It doesn’t matter what happened to us. Without you, I wouldn’t have survived last summer or last year in general. I was totally out of control!! I was busy destroying myself completely! Nothing and nobody could stop me, except you. And when you moved with me here, to start a new chapter together, I was really happy, like never before. Finding this place for the two of us was…. the best surprise ever!! I love it here with you and I don’t give a shit about anything else. But now you have to get up D.! I’m gonna help you. Or tell me what to do for you?

I went to buy Daniel something to eat, but getting groceries wasn’t the only thing on my to do list. I had to get a pregnancy test. I still haven’t told D. I was overdue. On our honeymoon I only had my period for 2 days, but I didn’t think anything of it. And this month…. maybe my period was just late? After all, my cycle in recent months has been constantly irregular because of what happened in the summer. We didn’t really use contraception. I gave up on this topic tbh and since summer I kept feeling that I could not have kids.

Though I was terrified to have a baby, I wished it deep in my heart.

I thought sex was the one thing he wanted or demanded most from me because we couldn’t do it for weeks. But I guess, I was wrong again. He just needed me.

Um… how am I supposed to sleep now? I don’t know what’s so great about falling asleep on another person? A pillow is much more comfortable. But well , maybe that’s just me. However, as long as he got better, that’s all I wanted.

I just looked at him and wished he never had to be sad about me or anything….. And yet in 3 weeks this chapter of my life ends here for me. Not really and not forever, but still. Whether that was good or not, I can answer today, 9 years later. I would say, NO! But then I would never have had my son and met him, so it must have happened!!!

What’s your favourite sims death?

In all my years of playing, I’ve only ever had a total of seven Sims actually die on me, because until very recently, I’d never played any Sim for long enough (let’s just say that I have a low boredom threshold). All those have either died from old age (two), needs failure (one - oops!) and the ‘death by childbirth’ mod (four). So, I’ve never seen most of the possible deaths and can’t really say! It absolutely wouldn’t be death by cow plant though - those things seriously creep me out and are banned from my game!

Alpha CC or Maxis Match?

I’d say Maxis Mix - I sit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum.

Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?

Nope! If I have to work off those unwanted pounds, then so do they!

Do you use move objects?

More than you could possibly know. Especially to move toddlers up and down the stairs - because Sims can rarely get their act together to do it by themselves.

Favourite mod?

Always and forever ACR - couldn’t play the game without it. (I find instructing my Sims to woohoo just a bit too weird, so I’d rather they took matters into their own hands. And since I play a Wants-based game - as far as possible - I prefer them to take charge of their own family planning too.)

First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?

University. I got each and every EP and SP as soon as they were released, such was my addiction.

Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing?

Who’s your favourite sim that you’ve made?

I love them all as if they were my children. I do have a sneaky extra-big soft spot for Bertram and Jasper though. OK, they were born in-game, but I created their parents, so that counts - right?

Have you made a simself?

Who hasn’t? (They were pretty dull to play though.)

What sim traits do you give yourself? Animal Lover / Eccentric / Loner / Perfectionist / Socially Awkward / Unflirty If we’re talking TS2 ‘traits’ then I’d be:

Sloppy/Neat: 8

Shy/Outgoing: 2

Lazy/Active: 4

Serious/Playful: 5

Grouchy/Nice: 6 And my Aspiration would be Knowledge/Pleasure.

Which is your favourite EA hair colour?

Meh, if you’re twisting my arm, then red.

My favourite hair colour of all is Pooklet’s ‘Brisance’.

Favourite EA hair?

I admit it, it’s still Fuzzy Long for lasses (although I do have a default replacement for it, as there are custom hairs that I like a lot more!), and Caesar or Short Gel for lads. The unisex Dread Bands also gets an honourable mention.

Favourite life stage? Young Adult, because that’s when life really starts to open up for my Sims.

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?

Oh, both, depending on my mood! I tend to go through phases of one or the other.

Are you a CC creator? In the dim and distant Sim past, I was once a pretty prolific creator, but I got utterly burned out by it, especially since I’m painfully perfectionist and nothing was ever good enough. So, creating now very much takes a back seat, and I’m mainly just having fun actually playing the game, which I never had time to do in my creator days.

Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? I don’t think I’ve ever had a ‘squad’ in any capacity! :D I appreciate each and every one of my mutuals that I've ever interacted with - they’re all lovely souls!

Nah, not my style - far too self-conscious!

How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing?

As soon as I first discovered CC (I played for a couple of years without it), I craved as much realism as I could get. I also had a serious grunge phase. Now, I lean much more into the bright, cheerful, Maxis aesthetic, since for gameplay purposes, I find that it suits the cartoony feel of the game much better.

What’s your Origin ID?

Who’s your favourite CC creator? Too many to mention. I’m immensely grateful that there are still so many terrific creators making content for TS2.

How long have you had a simblr? Since 2012, I think? It was like a ghost town around here though for a spell in the middle.

How do you edit your pictures?

Photoshop: cropping and running through @bepixeled‘s ‘Holy Colors Batman!’ actions.

What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?

Sadly, this is a dream that can never be realised for TS2, but I’d like something similar to TS4′s Cottage Living pack (although EA’s interpretation of English country living bears absolutely no resemblance to the reality!). And rideable bikes and horses. And more BV holiday destinations; specifically something with a more European flavour (The Mediterranean! Scandinavia! The British seaside!).

What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favourite so far?

EP: University (for the extra life stage and all the opportunities it brings)

SP: Mansion and Garden (for the super build mode content) I’m not going to tag anyone, as I’m really late with this, but if you’ve not done this and would like to, please go ahead - I love getting to know my fellow Simmers better!

hiii besties!! it’s been a hot minute since i’ve been on/posted on here and i’ve missed y’all <3 i did some cc shopping and finally opened sims yesterday for the first time in months. made this lil simmie and did a quick edit to post! i’m going to start getting caught up on reblogging and replying to asks, sorry that it’s been such a delay! (also am currently working on some new nails *wink* *wink*) love and appreciate all you lovely humans so much <33

more in depth update below the cut for those interested :)

so i genuinely have no idea how to do quality update posts, but i guess i’ll just go in order of events.

i would say july was fairly eventful. i finished my infusion treatments at the hospital, which ended up making me feel SO much better (i had severe anemia). i genuinely didn’t realize how bad the physical and mental toll that it was taking on my body. i gamed a LOT, just had lost pretty much any interest in the sims. fall guys had become my fixation, and i had started a perfection save in stardew which also became the only thing i wanted to do. i bought more squishmallows. i got another piercing in my ears, and that same day i got fitted and met with a physical therapist so i can start the painfully long process of getting a new wheelchair. i saw a rainbow while driving home from my dad’s house. i took wayyyy too many pictures of my puppy who’s literally ginormous now, and taking all the pics of my kitties!! july ended with a mini road trip to see a comedy show, and i took pictures of clouds the whole way there.

the beginning of august was bittersweet, but was followed by one of the best days i’ve had all year. august 1st i hung out with my best friend in the whole universe before she moved 13 hours away. we’ve dealt with long distance before and talk every day, but this is definitely the farthest we’ve ever been from each other. i’m soo happy for her and am so excited to see all the amazing things she’s gonna do in the future. a few days later, i went on another road trip to nashville!! another bestie of mine was having a concert that i could not miss. plus i love nashville, so i will take any excuse to go. this trip was one of the trips EVER!! i got to see a lot of my internet friends too that i never get to see and i love them all so much. the concert was SOOO good <3 ugh i wish i could go backkkk. i also bought more squishmallows in nash lmaooo. they’re addicting. the rest of august was pretty much uneventful. i played stardew and fall guys with friends, animal snuggles bc they’re all terrified of storms and we had some bad ones, and i bought myself a fancy new mechanical keyboard (the new logitech one from the aurora collection!!) it’s so beautiful, i literally cried when i first opened it.

september was eh. i started a new animal crossing island, which i spent a lot a time playing. that and any animal snuggle i could get. the end of september was a bit rough, i was in pretty low spirits. i lost a close friend of mine earlier this year and it was her birthday. i couldn’t stop thinking about her, which was also making me think of my dog that i had also lost earlier this year (both happened on the same day). there was also some other family stuff, so i didn’t love the end of september. good things did happen though! my furbaby niece came to live with us again. i missed her so much. she’s the cutest lil peanut ever. and i went to the movie theater which was fun! also prepped for my birthday trip since we were leaving the first of october!

and now we’re in october. this month so far has been good! it started with another road trip for my birthday (i turned 23 on oct 4!) this was hands down one of the most fun trips i’ve ever been on. we went to austin for a concert two nights in a row and they were both just so magical. i dressed up fun and went shopping too (yes i bought more squishmallows) honestly that trip would have to be it’s own full post bc so much happened. have just been chilling ever since. was supposed to go on another mini road trip yesterday for a concert but pneumonia went through our house (i didn’t catch it thankfully) so that kind of threw a wrench in our plans. oh and dr. ms. taylor alison swift released an album and it has such a chokehold on me it’s not even funny. i literally cannot describe how much i love her. every time i’m listening to it, my puppy runs in and comes to listen too. she’s got TASTE :) oh and omg i almost forgot, i reached perfection in stardew!!!!!!! this is the first time i’ve ever done that and it was so fun.

Thank you so much! I'm shocked my laptop can run it as well as it does, but the smooth patch helps a lot. I've been addicted to TS3 for the past 4 months, which is why I stopped posting. I will see if For Rent will get my S4 interest up again but for now I'm shocked at what the modding community has done in the sims 3. I found yoga from S4 that works amazing in the S3 and also some other animations that are taken from that and just make the game even better. I hope you figure it out and you get to play soon!

My latest gaming addiction - No Man’s Sky. Bought it on Steam in sales last week and after an initial “not sure if like or dislike” I’ve spent a disturbing number of hours running around and finding stuff and building mini-bases all over my starting solar system. This particular one is at the site of a crashed space freighter I’m salvaging stuff from (my only base so far in a second solar system is positioned at same). I have several sites I’ve named “Drydock” that were claimed just for the purpose of salvaging a wrecked ship and warping it to the space station to melt down for scrap (best haul so far netted me > 5 million units plus a storage upgrade for my own tiny ship). At some point when I have a lot more in the way of resources and technology, I might try actually repairing one of the crashed ships. Because why not.

I also like having bases handy to specific material types - like the one super-weird planet covered in coral-like desiccated creatures that are formed of both carbon and ferrite (two of the three main building materials, the other being silicate sand you can dig up anywhere), making it an awesome place to farm for more building materials any time I start running low. So much easier and faster than running around mining them from random plants and rocks on other planets, and I can just use my teleporter to step to there from any of my other bases if I need to gather more

So far if I had to describe my character I’d say they’re conflict-avoidant. Happy enough to just ignore the battles occurring around them, scavenge for salvageable crap, and build micro-bases. I am looking forward to unlocking more of the decor items so I can make bases that look comfortable, not just functional (I blame many years of playing The Sims for that interest...).

I’ve barely set foot outside my starting system yet, and don’t really have any interest so far in following the main storyline assignments or getting into any fights. I’ve only killed one pirate so far - mostly I just scram away from them as fast as my tiny ship can go - but I may beef up my weapons and shields a little, because being randomly attacked when I’m just minding my own business mining asteroids (for gold so I can build more solar panels) is getting old.

Been wanting this print from @theshitpostcalligrapher‘s Etsy shop for most of a year now; finally picked up a copy this month as a birthday present to myself.

I’ve put it in sight of my bed, so I’ll see it first and last thing every day, and some day (hopefully soonish) when I get my shit together enough to move out into my own place again, I will probably make a point of it being the first decorative item I set out.

(Also I love the pretty tiled frame I bought to put it in)

i’m exhausted. i feel like i haven’t really had any alone time for like a month, but i’ve also been having increasingly disturbing thoughts when i am left to ponder alone. and people wonder why i need to be stoned all the time.

retail therapy is scary, though. i’ve recently recalled how much i love to read (escapism is a hell of a mistress), so i’ve spent way more money than i should’ve this past week. quite a stress point, tbh, but i’m justifying it because i was out celebrating my third year anniversary with my boyfriend. we happened to celebrate on free comic book day, so we went to acme comics and i was expecting, like, two free comics. but when we walked through the door, there was a girl to the right with a table holding stacks of plastic bags all filled with like sixteen comics, and she just held out a bag and said, “free comic books?” to which i responded, “yes please!” and then i proceeded to spend $80 on more comics, one of which is old man logan. for those of you who don’t know, it’s a comic that was actually intended to be a standalone, but there have since been additions, and this is the comic that inspired the movie logan. it depicts wolverine as an old man with his healing capabilities slowing down tremendously; the world’s supervillains have banded together like the heroes do, but because there are more villains than heroes, they’ve killed the vast majority of heroes: captain america, iron man, thor, daredevil… it’s a really depressing comic book, honestly, but it’s amazing all the same.

this is random and irrelevant but my favorite fnaf character has changed from fun time foxy to puppet - i adore her and want a life sized version of her to put on my couch. she reminds me of a d&d character that i created in my homebrew world; his name is face and he’s a sentient wooden puppet that’s like five feet tall and has no facial features so he wears a mask and speaks telepathically to people, but is entirely silent until he trusts someone enough to know his secret.

i also got a cute new cup and an all black sanrio cinnabon stuffie that looks perfect on my bed, plus several books that i should not have bought because they’re expensive. i’ve been writing a lot this week too! my ability to get everything i write at work is hindered though because i can’t access certain things from home or my phone because my phone is way too old and won’t updated to the necessary versions to download certain apps. so i’m trying to brainstorm while i’m at work and actually write while i’m at home… but with two or three hours in between breaks, i have a lot of ideas, and remembering all of them is difficult. i might have to convince my boss to send them to me somehow… although i have to admit i’d be a little shy about him potentially reading it. i don’t think he’s much of a reader, and i think he’s kind enough to not read it if i asked him not to. idk, we’ll see.

holy shit palworld is way harder than any pokemon game i have ever played, but it is so addicting. speaking of video games, i’ve been really wanting to make a save file for the sims 4, so that might be something i do during a stream. i think i might try to stream on the weekends, but i’ve gotta redo quite a few things and make sure everything is good to go. i know exactly who i’d want as moderators for when they are necessary, but i would be lying if i said i wasn’t really nervous about streaming. i know i don’t want to use my camera just yet, and i don’t exactly have money for a v-tube artist right now, but i have been meaning to look at artists i would like to hire when i do have more disposable income. this imposter syndrome is just… a huge obstacle. if i can learn to cope with it or overcome it, i’ll be unstoppable. but it’s so much deeper than my meds can reach, and it’s so difficult to find the energy to fight something so rooted in my being.

alright, i didn’t mean for it to get that dark, but… i did say i’ve been having increasingly darker thoughts lately. and rants like that are exactly why i started this blog to begin with. i am learning how to love myself and give myself the life i deserve.

Now let’s talk about my last fucked up relationship the one that mentally abused me to the point of me thinking all of this negativity about myself. His name we will not mention because I don’t want to put him in blast too much and god forbid his perfect girlfriend finds this and then I cause something. NOW, let me start by saying this guy was the most manipulative, egotistical jerk you will ever meet in your life.. but of course he didn’t show that until later… he came down here for my sister’s engagement party, my sister now lives in New York with her perfect fiancé that she’s been with for 15 years. My sister was one of the lucky ones…. I was the bad apple who never did anything right, who strives for perfection everyday just to not find it. So he came down for her party we met he was with someone else so he actually had a date for her party but I couldn’t help but feel so attracted towards him and vise versa I guess even though I still to this day don’t know what he saw in me.. but see? I’m fucked up I told you. So I know y’all reading this and saying to yourself get to the point lmao. Ok so we did long distance for a while because he lived in New York and I lived in Florida so the only way he would be with me is if I said I’d move to New York and I had intent to move there I did, I just was getting over a really bad relationship with a drug addict so it was hard to completely trust him. So I had a hard time trusting him for a while, would lie to make him feel secure within our relationship. You see? I was done with being the girl that no one wanted… I wanted him to want me as much as I wanted him so I lost myself.. told him little white lies about myself.. even pretending to really be into things that he was into just to get him to fall in love with me. Love makes you so crazy things, but I slowly started to realize he didn’t actually love me for who I was, he loved the person I was pretending to be. Now don’t get me wrong… I am a huge nerd, I’ve loved comic books since I was a little girl, I loved Star Wars.. did I know every single Star Wars reference or movie? No.. but did I pretend to sometimes just to keep him close to me? Yes I did, I admit it but I didn’t act like a completely different person. It was to the point over the phone and over text messages I evolved this persona that I was someone different just to keep him interested. If anyone has ever been in a long distance relationship you’d know how hard it is to keep a person interested. I was so insecure with myself that I never wanted him to see who I actually was, the girl who yes is a nerd but plays sims 4 more than call of duty or more than league of legends.. the girl who was so insecure about how she looked all her life because she had a drop dead gorgeous sister stealing her limelight her whole life. I was scared to completely open up to him so I never did and that’s when he broke up with me because he started to see I was lying but I didn’t do it, I would lie about stupid things things.. that didn’t even shape who I was… he would send me pictures of these gorgeous stoner girls on Instagram and tell me how he wanted to be with them and it would make me sick to my stomach, he would fake break up with me constantly calling us together a ponzy scheme… and how we were just together because my sister was the one who hooked us up. I had zero trust at this point, I started acting crazy and obsessed with getting his approval for everything. He noticed and I guess because of that I pushed him further and further away… like being miles apart wasn’t enough we would barely talk sometimes he would leave me hanging, break up with me and then call me and say he does love me and he does want to be with me. This would happen very often and it would kill me slowly. When Covid happened he would be so paranoid for going outside he was at his lowest and called me and I stayed up until 3am to talk to him and calm him down on the phone. He was so depressed I just wanted to make him happy but Sometimes you just can’t make a person happy, you got to make yourself happy.

Throwing a fit right now y’all. So I’m about to spill my life story as of the last four months please someone see this.

So I’m still an infant and live with my mother and father due to the fact that I am younger than 18 and older than 14, as most people tend to do at those ages and the ones before them. And 4 months ago, my oldest sister, her husband, and her 3 kids moved in with us. I don’t get along well with my sister as she believes that I am mean to her children. The oldest is seven and everything resembling a boundary is “mean” to her. She’s also whiny, obsessed with doing everything I do, and 100% ready and willing to lie to her mother about when we disagree about things, by making it seem like she’s always the victim, Y’know, like a 7 year old. I need time alone. And to be able to do things alone. She wants to be just like me and I can’t stop her. I work at a friend’s stable and I almost never go without the 7yo anymore. She goes to dance and nobody else in the family does. That’s her thing that she does by herself. I auditioned for the school play and got a part, but I have an orthodontist appointment in the middle of the first meeting. The first meeting is tomorrow. 2 1/2 hours long and mandatory. I have to be there the whole time. No exceptions. At all. And if you’re not there, you’re not in the play. I can’t reschedule my appointment. I’m so tired man. I don’t know what to do. I have the sims in my room, on a 14 year old X box that’s been passed down from my dad, my eldest sisters boyfriend, my other sister, to me. 7yo’s favorite thing to do is play sims. And if she bothers me and I mention it to my mom and my sister (her mom) like they ask me to do, they don’t do anything because “she’s seven” or “she’s just playing” or my personal favorite, “That’s not even something to be upset about.”

My middle sister also lives with us because her first car was messed up when we got it. Money was good back then so my parents bought it for her for around $900. It broke down and didn’t work again after having it for 3 months. My parents then bought her a $2000 dollar jeep and she’s wrecked that jeep 4 times and my moms van 3 times. Her Jeep finally gave up on her a year and a half later. So she would be driving my moms van, then the van got totaled while she was driving it. She’s a recovering alcoholic at 18 and an ex-coke addict. She’s got borderline personality disorder. I’ve always been her secret keeper, since I was 7 or 8. I don’t anymore, but some things I just don’t tell. My medicine for chronic pain doesn’t work anymore and I’m so scared to change it. People in my family get addicted to things so easily.

My mom offered for me to eat out with her and my aunt after church this morning, but 7yo heard about it and started crying after her mom said she couldn’t go. Then my mom was like “Y’know what, you shouldn’t go either, I need some adult time.” And I was confused, because she had been saying this whole morning that I could go, but I asked if I could just sit on the other side of the restaurant so I wouldn’t be involved. I didn’t want to order anything anyways. All I was going to do was sit with my headphones in and read a book. I wasn’t going to bother her at all, I just wanted to be out of the fucking house. It’s not like she even notices me unless she wants me to clean for her. I’d just sit quietly in the corner and mind my own business like always. Between all of this and the fact that we have 7 dogs, 3 cats, and a parrot, everything is stressful and tiring. 4 of the dogs and 1 cat are my sister’s and her family’s but they live with us so. Money is tight and school is hard and I can’t relax.

Anyways. I don’t know why I’m so upset. I should just go to sleep. If y’all have anything to say, please do. I just need to know if this is stupid or not

How did you get into this franchise/fandom?

My brother often played FFXIV when he was back from school, and I found myself watching him go through it. After a while, I wanted to play it. So I made character on his account (unfunny enough, a red headed cat boy), though I wasn’t too great at handling the PS4 controls, and held back a lot of dungeons as a paladin. So I gave up. A few months later, I wanted to try again, so I bought it on my computer-- and I have been addicted ever since. Yoshi-P, I love you, so very much *mwah*

What’s the best thing about the show/series/books/comics/etc.?

I feel like the best thing is the savage/ultimate fights, because they are SO FUN to learn and go through. They’re engaging, fast paced, and requires teamwork like no other game I’ve played. Having the right static in a fight just feels so fun! Aside from that, the community. Not only are people relatively nice in the game, but they feel connected through the developers. The develops listen to our memes, our jokes, our voices, and they want to give back the love that we have given them. So many tears were shed for the developers, and we cannot thank them enough for all their hard work. Now, lemme tell you a story. A year ago, my favorite mangaka, Kentaro Miura, passed away. I love Berserk, because when I was diagnosed with PTSD, I had it rough trying to heal from unprocessed trauma. Reading Berserk helped me process that trauma. I know it’s a heavy story, but the story is about survival and healing after severe trauma. I needed that in my life. So, when he died, I felt empty and lost. I cried for an hour at my computer, absolutely torn, running around Ul’dah aimlessly-- then I saw him. A lone Dark Knight, standing with a bonfire. I knew what he was doing without asking. I joined with him. Soon, a line of people came up and stood with us. Then we learned different servers all across the world did the same thing. We all mourned Kentaro Miura TOGETHER. If you’re curious about it, there’s a news article pertaining to the event. We began talking about Berserk, how it changed out lives, our favorite characters, what was our favorite media that was inspired by Berserk. I felt I had a moment of closure with all these people I didn’t know, and we never met again. It felt so cathartic, and I was able to grieve with someone. Of course, the story is amazing. Absolutely perfect. I feel as if Shadowbringers and Endwalker really reflected our current situation with COVID, and in times of despair and grave loss, we power through to be there for each other. I just love this game, holy crap.

What’s the worst thing about the show/series/books/comics/etc.?

The WORST thing? There’s tons of frustrating things about this game. I mean... well... this is hard. I love everything about this game, and I don’t do a lot of RP, hang out and talk to people, or housing-- but I’ve heard a lot of complaints about materia melding (which I don’t do), and housing system (which I don’t have money for), and rude people. Of course there’s going to be rude people in the game, there’s rude people everywhere. You’d be hard pressed to find a community that doesn’t have its share of bad eggs. I THINK THE WORST THING (and this is stupid i know) IS THAT WE DON’T HAVE A DATING SIM KNOCK OFF. Or even, like a social bond system. It’s so dumb, but when you create such interesting, deep, and lovable characters, at least give us crumbs to see our WOL with them. CRUMBS. just tiny little mice crumbs. Oh well. I am hoping that the Island Sanctuary will allow our friends to come and visit to give their good wishes. I mean the WOL is BORED now, at least let their friends come visit them in their sanctuary. TBH I love this game, and I advise everyone to give it a try at least once. Having started at the end of Heavensward, I already feel as if my WOL has grown, matured, and changed because I have over the years. *chefs kiss*

A while ago I received an interesting question about game aesthetics. The person in that ask really struggles with downloading stuff and finding their own style. They asked me how I came up with what you see on my screenshots. Have you ever thought that you can recognize whose screenshot this is by just a quick glance? Is editing important in photoshop? How to take beautiful screenshots? Today let’s talk about how different one single game could be for each of us and what really makes this mysterious “sims aesthetics”.

EDIT: Sorry, it turned out to be huge with lots of random thoughts :D I hope at least one percent of these is useful!

NOTE: English is not my native language, I apologize for possible grammar or spelling mistakes. I tried my best in writing this!

Ok, let’s imagine that you’re a person who just obtained the sims game or just want a nice fresh start and demolished your download folder. (We all need fresh starts sometimes, right?) The struggle is that you have no idea which style you like the best. There are so many sims blogs. Everyone seems to enjoy what they post but you’re a little bit lost in that jungle. Don’t worry! I’ll try to guide you and share my thoughts.

STEP 1 Choose your general style

I roughly divide all sims blogs that I see on my dashboard into a couple of so-called styles. I’ve been doing it in my mind for ages. I like following different people and seeing diferent editing. None of them are better than others. I hope you understand that it’s just a matter of liking. Ok, here we go. Let me put this sorting hat on you :D

1. Realistic

Perhaps, it’s the most important thing that you should decide for yourself. Wether you should use realistic textures in your game or you’d prefer to stick to more cartoonish maxis match ones. Why is it so important, to my mind? I like things that match. Just imagine game Witcher 3 where characters and surroundings are realistic. And now imagine Minecraft where things are pixelated. Both games are great, both games have certain beautiful styles. And now imagine Geralt hunting for monsters in a pixelated Minecraft swamp. A bit strange, isn’t it? :D The same applies to Sims. If you put a super realistic skintone on your sim and put a Maxis ponytail, that would probably look strange too. If you choose this style, just try to dig for a good quality content, start following simblrs in this style. Unfortunately, I’m not an expert when it comes to realistic content. So, try to drop an ask to someone whose realistic game you like. There are so many helpful people around in the sims community no matter what style they have :)

2. Trully Maxis Match

This is a complete opposite of a realistic style. I’ve always called people who use a lot of original maxis textures “trully maxis” :D If you can decorate a house without any custom content, if you like the way original hairstyles look, if you like Maxis clothes, you should go this way. From what I’ve spot after being so many years in the sims community, “trully” maxis simblr are so creative when it comes to storytelling. The stories that they write about either their sims/or maxis premades are so breathtaking. So much drama, so much fun. The only thing that I write about my screenshots is “Ok, this is my cat! Look, it can eat flowers and puke afterwardst! Yay! Cute”. If you choose this way, I can recommend you to check out @holleyberry, @didilysims or @moocha-muses. Obviously there are a lot more blogs that I follow. These people are just so sweet and helpful and they’re first who came to my mind.

3. Bright Maxis Matchery

This is where I refer myself to. This style is still Maxis but what stands out is the use of bright colours and saturated photoshopped pictures. Ah, my love for overedited pictures is endless <3 This is what I’m going to talk a lot below since it’s my cup of tea. It’s all about colours and pallete addiction. If you love looking at super bright/silly/cheery screenshots and they boost up your mood, than join the squad!

Basically, Maxis match (I’ll just shorten for MM from now on) players avoid super shiny skins or hair textures and prefer to have content with Simlish letters instead of English ones. This is a very important factor for me when I choose paintings or prints for T-shirts. I don’t know, I feel like it’s so cute that sims can’t understand our languages, talk this funny gibberish simlish language. It’s cute! There are so so many people that I can recommend. @lina-cherie @keoni-chan @kahlenas They are first who came to my mind <3

4. Grungy/cosmic

I don’t know if these are suitable words :D But this is how I describe people’s game who like aliens/supernatural sims/grungy textures with or without bright colours as well. Just think would you prefer a bit of a grungy stuff or less-textured but cleaner MM? You always need to think about textures while you download stuff. I can recommend to check out @pooklet or @furbyq-sims

5. Semi

You might ask me “Why am I not allowed to put a realistic skintone on a maxis sim? What the hell?” Of course, you are! Do it please, if you want. There are no rules, no restrictions. You CAN go semi-realistic, you CAN mix patterns, you CAN mix colours. There’s only one rule: please, enjoy what you do. Don’t be afraid to share your pictures on the Internet. There will always be people who can judje your style and say: “meh, it’s too dull, meh, it’s too bright, meh, too shiny, meh, too plain meh, meh, meh”. Just don’t pay attention and enjoy your game. As for semi-realistic I can recommend such wonderful people as @marvelann @lilith-sims @falkii @knowledgeaspiration

A bit about my style: I’ve always loved cartoonish/bright style. I’ve never ever played with shiny textures. Before Tumblr era I just played either without CC or with a bunch of maxis recolours. How I came up with the idea of cartoonishness? Pretty simple. It’s a part of my personality, I think :) I’ve always loved Disney/Pixar movies. Cartoons just make life a lot funnier! They make me happy. I’m a pre-school teacher after all :D. You can’t imagine how many cartoons I’ve watched throughout my life. I can quote Peppa Pig and will never be tired of that :D Before Tumblr I just played some funny legacies (I’ve never finished any though :D) When I found out about Tumblr, and such great content that can make my game even more Disney looking, it just blew my mind! Every time when I download stuff, I imagine that I’m watching a Disney/Pixar or whatever studio cartoon. When I create sims, I feel like I’m a cartoon designer. Pretty silly, right? :D

As I’m a big cartoon addict, I love recreating game/anime/cartoon characters. No matter, if they’re my favourite or requested ones. I love when my sims have different traits. I love when they’re funny looking/clumsy/absent-minded or when they’re evil/supernatural. When they are pirates/detectives/vampires or witches. This is my way of playing Sims. I love this game as it gives us possibilities to show your creativity, a chance to recreate our favourite characters. A chance to be a writer of storylines or if you’re bad at telling stories, just being “a cartoon designer” like me :)

STEP 2 Colour palettes

If you’ve chosen the path of “bright maxis matchery” than colour palettes are super important! Oh, you can’t imagine how addicted I am to certain colours. I can download GBs because of it.

Here are some of my favourite colour palettes:

1. Anna’s colours

My absolutely favourite palette. I would download absolutely anything in these pretty colours. Just looking at them makes me so cozy *0* There’s a photoshop action for those who want to recolour CC in this palette.

2. Poppet’s colours

I especially like the latest one. So pretty! @poppet-sims is the queen of lovely recolours. She has some more palettes. But “Back to Basics is my favourite”

3. Eversims colours

@eversims has got a lot of pretty colour palettes. But the most iconic one is Ever So Lovely

So, these are the basic colours that I like downloading furniture/clothes with.

There are a couple more pretty palettes that I like:

Huning’s Pony Colours

Back in the days it was my ultimate favourite one. But these days I edit my pictures in Photoshop excessively and prefer calmer colours and add bright layers in photoshop instead.

Nyren’s Kosmic Colours

If you’re more into pastels, than try to download some stuff in this pretty palette.

You might wonder if I use all of these colours. Of course not! I have a selection of colours that I use: apple green, sky blue, yellow, red, pink, orange, purple, teal, mint. I absolutely love combining 2 or 3 of these in my interior shots. I also love choosing my sims’ favourite colours and dressing them/decorating their bedroom in this certain colour(s).

For example, my sim Mia likes apple green/purple and mint.

I think @deedee-sims can relate. While I prefer choosing a favourite colour per sim, she chooses favourite colour for the whole family!

This is a great idea, I think! :)

STEP 4 Bodyshop stuff

Ok, I hope it’s clear that I’m colour palettes addicted, now let’s move onto actual custom content and what I prefer adding to my game. I decided to divide CC by sections. Let’s start with Bodyshop.

4.1 Skintones

Another important thing that you need to choose for yourself. There are tones ofoptions. I’m going to recommend only MM skins as obviously I have no idea which realistic or semi-realistic ones are high quality.

If you prefer trully maxis skintones, I recommend you to try Leh’s skintones. It’s super close to original ones in terms of shades. Also look at those button noses! These cute noses is the reason why I started using this skin back in 2014. But later I switched to Lilith’s feather as I wanted more variety and those noses there got a lovely shine.

It was my default skin for a lot of years. These days I own every possible skintone by Lilith and various blends by other people.

Try to choose one set of skins or download all of them by one certain creator. I need a lot of skins because I love creating tones of sims and I want to make them various looking.

These are just some of my eyes. There are some more by Poppet, by Kahlena. And I have various addons to these sets that I grabbed over and here. I remember having struggles of choosing only one set. But than I thought: why do I have to choose if I like all of them and want my sims to look as different as possible? I just love when they are cartoonish but high-quality with nice white clean sclera. Just look at Disney Rapunzel. You’ll see what I mean ^_^

There’s one little trick that most mm players do for making sims’ eyes bigger and rounder - adding a whiteline eyeliner by jesstheex. I personaly do it for every single sim of mine.

4.3 Makeup

I use tooooons of blushes, lipsticks and eyeshadows. I have everything by Lilith and Jesstheex. And lots of bits and bobs by various creators. I love using both matte or shiny textures. I sometimes add nose shine or use special nosemasks. There are various lovely things in my collection. What I can recommend you is to download a sim that you like by another creator with the help of Sims Clean Installer and just steal makeup from the sim to add to your collection *evil laughter* I recommend to do it because sometimes there are some mouth corners or various eyebags and etc which are difficult to find. It’s easier to grab them together with sims.

For example, I grabbed the shiny nosemasks from one of Lilith’s sims.

Sometimes I like adding a bit of shine on Sims’ noses. Some sims of mine don’t have shine. It really depends on a sim. But what I definitely like is cute button noses! I like using nosemasks to achieve that. I have all the masks by Lilith and these ones by kahlena.

4.4 Hair textures

Another important decision for you is the hair textures. I recommend you to choose one certain retexture. Back in the days, I used to have Remi’s textures

I liked Remi’s ones because they were non-shiny. They had maxis colours and a really cool yellowish blonde!

Receintly I switched to Simgarooped as I’ve always loved that there are 6 naturals. The yellowish blonde is still there! Plus my favourite Deedee-sims keeps updating every week with the retextures of new meshes <3

There are lots of various textures blends. Just search, download, play test. Think, if you’re ready to look at such type of hair hours of simming.

Also try to decide if you’d like to have more natural looking sims or go crazy and have supernatural/aliens. I used to have really bright sims with colourful skins and hairs.

Even my toddlers had unnatural hairs. It’s a lot of fun! But right now I prefer to create more natural looking sims though I like vampires/witches/aliens anyways!

You’ll need a lot of face masks/bright lips/shadows. Check out @berrynooboos for the cutest alien CC.

4.5 Facial hair and Brows

I don’t think they should really match as long as they look great.

For example, I use eyebrows by @suratan-zir which are super cute and high quality but use Poppet’s textures instead of Simgarooped.

As for facial hair, I use some Poppet’s as well.

4.6 Clothes

As I already mentioned, I love clothes in my favourite palettes. I love Simlish prints. There are so so many creators who share wonderful clothes.

I love @deedee-sims for age conversions, shoeswaps, morphs. I love @mdpthatsme for really cool 4t2 conversions. I love @moocha-muses for colourful T-shirts <3 Don’t be shy to send me a WCIF about a certain item of clothing.

STEP 5 Buy and Build

Tooons of bright recolours, IKEA items, Maxis add-ons, 3t2 and 4t2 conversions - all these things make my heart beat :D

These days I play in a rural-type world. I download a lot of craftsman-style build things, a lot of plants and garden deco.

I love bright wallpapers and greenhouses, I love clutter and kids CC for nurseries. Patterns with polka dots and plumbobs. Sunflowers and tulips. This is what I usually drop into my download folder :)

STEP 6 Taking screenshots

No matter which recolours and textures you prefer, I think high-quality pictures are important. The first thing that you need to playtest for yourself is a camera mod. It’s upo for you, but I can’t live without Gunmod’s Camera Mod. There are some more available, just check out.

Also lighting is important since Maxis original is terrible. I use Dreadpirate’s mod.

I recommend to take screenshots in a camera man mode. Click Tab to enter it. Use W, A,S,D,E buttons to move right/left/up/down etc. And what’s important, use X and Z for zooming in and out. I always use Z for example, when I take close ups of my cats.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with angles. Try some artistic ones.

You can move your camera down and take a screen from below.

Or vice versa from above.

Sometimes I’ll just take a screen of my sims’ hands or feet. It really depends. I love spending hours on just “walking” in a camera mod around my sims houses.

Another useful feature of this mod is to use Ctrl +4,5,6,7,8,9 buttons.

These can fix the angles for you. And after fixing them, when you click on 4,5,6,7,8,9 you camera will go back to those positions. It’s very handy when you want to screen 2 sims who are talking and there’s no need to constatntly move camera from sidde to side. Just fix it and wait for them to perform cute emotions!

As a bonus, you can fic positions in the life mode too. For example, I always choose a proper angle from above where the wgole house can be seen. And wait for something cute/funny/to happen.

Also there’s such a thing as The Rule of Thirds. It’s the rule of photography composition. I always try to follow it :)

STEP 7 Photoshop Editing

I love oversaturated colours. It can be too much for someone’s eyes, but I like the brightness :) I’ll share some good Photoshop resources. Probably, one thing that I can recommend to absolutely everyone no matter how bright you want your screens to be is sharpening! Seems that Tumblr eats our picture quality for breakfast. Sims screenshots seem so blurry to me. I love sharpening them first.

I use sharpening from Kalekaloo’s action.

After sharpening I run the base from Eversims Action and then add some colour layers from Simburgerr’s one (I like gradients and fluffy lights layers especially). It makes the reds colours a little bit too saturated but I think it’s cute!
